Solve : Avast software licence shared by 774,651 people.? |
Answer» A single licence for Avast SECURITY software has been used by 774,651 people after it went viral on a file-sharing site. Avast noticed that a LICENSE for its paid-for security software, sold to a 14-user firm in Arizona, was being distributed online. Rather than shut down the piracy, the company DECIDED to see how far the software would spread — it's since popped up in 200 COUNTRIES, including the Vatican City. Now, the company is turning it into a marketing opportunity, with a pop-up encouraging users of the pirated copy to download a legal copy of the free or paid-for version. Avast isn't sure how many pirates have gone legal, but said some have made the switch. This can be a very interesting topic. TDEMSYR. |

Answer» Hi everyone I must admit that i haven't used the programs in person but often sit with my client (who is 84 years old) who has been using these programs since the 80s.I think they really need to convert to a newer software package such as the popular QuickBooks. QuickBooks comes in several versions and I'm not sure which would best serve their needs. Without knowing some details about the TYPE of business they operate, I don't believe anyone in this forum could recommend a specific program. And, even if you gave detailed explanation, this is not an accounting forum and I'm not aware of any member of this forum being from Switzerland, which may have some unique laws which apply to such a business. Good catch soybean.Hi all Thanks to all of you for making suggestions, in response to BC_Programmer message i did try DOSBox already but it didn't work, i believe it is often used Dos based games and as of the link from Truenorth i will try and see if i will CONVINCE them to go this way but they are in a stage where they don't want to learn new things, they just want to keep to the old things they know best. Again, thank you to all for your feedback. RegardsRegarding a VM (virtual machine) software which would allow installing DOS, you might try VMWare Player. I use it for Linux Ubuntu but have not tried installing DOS as a VM. Here is a list of videos (from a Google search) on installing DOS in VMWare Player: http://www.google.com/search?q=install+dos+in+vmware+player&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#q=install+dos+in+vmware+player&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=6Ot&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=iv&source=univ&tbs=vid:1&tbo=u&ei=rxL5TJ-PMKaNnAfqu824CQ&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&ct=title&resnum=6&ved=0CEIQqwQwBQ&fp=69e602266151d141 My memory of using DOS and DOS-based programs has faded, but I believe, if you had DOS installed as VM in VMWare Player, you would then install Framework III via a DOS prompt (in your DOS VM), as you would is a real DOS environment. Thank you Soybean, i think i found a solution and it seems to work for now at-least. Anyway, all i had to do was replace the HDD of the new PC with that of the old one, at the beginning the PC could boot then freeze but then i REMEMBERED that i change the CPU setting from Normal to Compatible, after my bios tweak in worked fine so as Rimo. I am still not sure why it would not run on the new PC with the disk formatted similar to that of the old machine running the same OS? Again, thank you for your inputs. Greetings, |

Solve : Bwaaa Can't re-install steam!? |
Answer» OK, I was playing a game yesterday using Steam, and my Hard drive decides to go out, I know it is the hard drive because I have had problems with it before. Of course Steam was installed on that drive, I figured it wouldn't be a problem, figuring I can just re-install it on my working drive, but at first I got the message that referenced the old drive I just took out, as if it is trying to re-install it there. After trying numerous things, I am getting the message "The configuration data for this product is corrupt. CONTACT your support personnel." I have no idea how to fix this, maybe one of you do? Thanks! The best part about the Steam Client is that they have your games referenced to your ACCT. So you can clean build your SYSTEM, reinstall Steam Client clean to this build, connect to Steam and redownload your games or install and reassocate say CS source or Portal etc and go on with your gaming. *The only drawback to the clean install of steam is that some games steam does not save the game status of, so for example if you are almost complete with Portal and your drive is corrupt, you will have to start back at level 1, but Steam will work again. Hopefully you are not looking at critical lost game states. I lost game states before and so I backup my games to a 16gb thumb drive by use of a batch file to grab the *.sav files etc, so that if i lost a drive or a system I can restore back to where I left off.Have you tried the Steam forum by any chance? Steam has some of the worst customer support you can find, but there are many helpful members on their forum who may be able to help you BETTER than we can. |

Solve : accessing adobe reader from outlook express? |
Answer» I have a very old version of Adobe Acrobat on my computer that I need to keep for the use of the distiller. I also have the latest version of adobe reader as the 5.0 won't open alot of the newer versions of files. My question is, how do I get outlook express to use the newer version of reader automatically to open any pdf files sent via my email. right now when I get one if I click on the attachment to open the file outlook uses the old 5.0 reader. how can i make it use the version 9 without having to uninstall the old acrobat.Right clik any .PDF file and select Open with...choose the app you want and check "always use this app"...save changes and exit.I tried what you said and it works fine if the file is already in my documents folder, it still wants to use 5.0 when it is straight from email. oe won't let me right click on the file attachment. now what??Quote from: ragamuffin on November 29, 2010, 05:57:08 PM oe won't let me right click on the file attachment.Right, but it was allow you to save the attachment. So, save it to My Documents or some other folder and then open it with your old Adobe Acrobat. BTW, I have to wonder whether you correctly did what patio advised. If you had, I don't believe OE would persist is using your old Adobe Acrobat. If you have, indeed, correctly set the file association for PDFs to the latest version of adobe reader and OE attachments opened in OE still get opened the your old Adobe Acrobat, you could removed Adobe Reader 9 and install Foxit Reader and see whether attachments opened in OE open with Foxit. thank you for you advice. your right to some extent. when i used the right click to select the reader i was not given the choice of "always use this software" so was unable to make that change. I have downloaded the foxit and will try that. I have to say this is for my husband because he is not very computer literate and if one little thing changes he is lost. i have him yelling at me because he is GETTING corrupted files when it is just the old reader not being able to open a file. if foxit works he will SETTLE down. Solve : installing a downloaded program? |
Answer» I recently downloaded a game, This registry fix may prove to be useful. Doubt it. If that was the case no EXE files would run. Including the browser. I'm sure the answer to Allan's post will make the problem more clear.I use that registry fix quite often when some malware has changed the default .exe to be run as something else. You don't know what you're talking about Quote from: OpenSource on November 03, 2010, 01:45:56 PM I use that registry fix quite often when some malware has changed the default .exe to be run as something else. You don't know what you're talking about Yes. We know what it does. But that's simply useless here. Consider the following: your regedit SCRIPT restores the EXE association. Without an appropriate EXE association, Executables cannot be directly started by running their shortcuts. Browsers are started using those shortcuts. Lastly, I doubt they would only notice that they cannot run a program they just downloaded. I imagine the fact that the browser won't start would sort of preclude such observations anyway. Chances are, it's an archive of some type that they don't have a program to handle; or their ZIP association could be broken, or any number of things. Would your registry script "fix" a broken EXE association? Yes. Nobody is debating that. But it's highly doubtful their EXE association is broken to begin with, you're making assumptions about the file type in question and the implications of that assumption are more far-reaching then the fact that they cannot open a single downloaded file, and would mean they should be encountering any number of other problems. Again, Once they convey the file extension/file type of the file that refuses to open, less generic and presumptive advice can be administered.I've seen this happen with corrupted/incomplete downloads. Try downloading the program again. So after redownloading it and it doing the same thing I noticed something.... It was saved as .rar or something. So I changed it to .exe and it solved the problem. Thanks for all the responses though =) maybe this can HELP someone else Quote from: simonwa on November 29, 2010, 02:33:32 PM So after redownloading it and it doing the same thing I noticed something.... Your kidding...right ? ? Since when can you change a RAR to an .exe and make it run ? ? BTW please remove the sponsor link from your sig... Which i believe was the motivation behind this tale of woe. patio. Moderator.Quote from: patio on November 29, 2010, 03:26:11 PM Your kidding...right ? ?Yes, that is definitely a load of ....umm I changed the file type a few days AGO, I don't remember what the exact extension was. sounds like it wasn't rar. But the point is, it wasn't ".EXE" either. |

Solve : burn my AVI movie to DVD?? |
Answer» I want to burn a movie to a dvd but the PROBLEM is that this movie is in the .avi format. Is it possible to burn a .avi file to a dvd. Also tell me how to get this to work. are you familiar with any program which will help me in this matter. Please suggest a suitable burner application. http://www.dvdflick.net/ - freeor may be you can try VSO ConvertXtoDVD,it is not free, but you can free download the trial version.I don't know, if the above is a spam, or not, but I consider ConvertXtoDVD the best DVD burning program, I've ever had.To be more specific you cant burn a AVI directly to a DVD and expect it to work in a DVD PLAYER but it would work in a computer, it just wouldnt be in DVD format. to play on a DVD player or any game console that plays DVDs you gotta convert it first then burn it to the DVD. Some newer DVD players will read straight .avi files.Quote Some newer DVD players will read straight .avi files. This I think is the best evolution a DVD player has come to. Hopefully someday just like any gaming console or computers with large memory hard drive availability for storing music or movies, games and saving(console) will be a complete hard drive access, feature for a dvd player and not just on a USB port to flash drive connection. A hard drive for DVD player reading avi or other formats of music(karaoke files for singing) and movies exclusively for that certain player. Usually you have to buy a magic mic or different player just for music lovers and singers. Wish that it would be integrated into a hard drive access for a DVD player alone. Quote from: Broni on October 23, 2010, 09:56:30 PM Some newer DVD players will read straight .avi files. My Ellion DVX-520C that I bought in 2002 could do that too. And play mp3s and view JPEGS and mpeg1 and mpeg2. But this was unusual back then. Many more players have mpeg/avi features these days. I now have a Toshiba that does which has a USB socket for playing "downloaded" formats off a USB pen drive. And it cost 39 UK POUNDS (about 60 US dollars) I have to go with Broni ConvertXtoDVD is very good. I also have used it for some time now and have gotten great results. Quote from: Spoiler on October 29, 2010, 01:32:55 PM I have to go with Broni Please dom't encourage Broni... Dom't do it....LOL |

Solve : Acrobat 5.0 Distiller not working with Word 97? |
Answer» I am using XP Home edition SP2. When I SELECT Distiller (Acrobat 5.0) from the printer options to make a PDF in WORD 97, the conversion STOPS half way through with an error msg that the document won't print. I installed the Acrobat update 5.0.5 and the result was WORD shutting down when I clicked on Distiller. If I click on the Adobe icon to make pdf the conversion works. I uninstalled Acrobat, restarted the computer, installed Acrobat 5.0 and the same result. Installed 5.0.5 and the same result Sistiller only works with Windows 2000 and up.Quote from: cfmoore on October 28, 2010, 11:33:19 PM I am using XP Home edition SP2. Try PrimoPDF. Quote WORD 97,You mean Distiller only works with Word 2000 and up?I did solve my problem but not in the way I expected. I had always used Distiller by going through File > print > select Distiller. I did not realize that the Acrobat tool bar ran Distiller using a MACRO PDF Maker, which fires when the Acrobat button is clicked on. Still does not work if go File > print > select Distiller but that is ok because I can access the same formatting with the Acrobat meun selection. The Acrobat SITE interestingly does not list Office versions...just OS versions. And it starts with Win2K/Quote from: cfmoore on October 29, 2010, 07:11:45 PM Still does not work if go File > print > select Distiller but that is ok because I can access the same formatting with the Acrobat meun selection.I REPEAT, PrimoPDF is a good Word to PDF converter, and numerous other freeware options can be found on the internet. |

Solve : Fsutil? |
Answer» Is there a downloadable version of Fsutil which reports a DVD-RW as such rather than as a CD-ROM which mine does? What do you mean by "downloadable version"? Thanks Broni. I'm using XP Pro and the command fsutil fsinfo drivetype returns the dvd-rw as a CD-ROM. I wondered if there is a newer downloadable version which will return the dvd-rw as a DVD-RW instead of a CD-ROM. I believe not. In XP and Windows 7 fsutil reports my DVD-RW as a "CD-ROM". I IMAGINE it just TESTS for and reports the lowest common denominator of all optical drives. In both OSs in My COMPUTER, Windows Explorer reports "DVD-RW drive". Same here on Vista.fsutil fsinfo drivetype most likely uses the GetDriveType API function. This means that all Optical drives will be REPORTED as "CD-ROM", since there is no enumeration for any other type of optical drive. As I suspected, thanks guys. WMI... Code: [Select]trComputer = "." Solve : MS Excel 2007 - How do i drag info from one work sheet to another? |
Answer» I have a summary price list but want to drag info from a secondary work sheet (this sheet carries the calculations) for the summary prices. Prices must appear in the same row as the descriptions. Could this be something like a VLOOKUP function? Need more detail in what you want to do. juxtaposition juxtapose Quote from: Geek-9pm on October 26, 2010, 08:33:12 AM Need more detail in what you want to do. I am familiar with drag and drop! Yes the pages are in the same book. I need to calculate prices on the 'secondary page' and 'deliver' the total price to the correct description/line to the summary. Hope this helps Quote from: redbrick on October 26, 2010, 09:46:20 AM I am familiar with drag and drop! Yes the pages are in the same book. I need to calculate prices on the 'secondary page' and 'deliver' the total price to the correct description/line to the summary. Hope this helpsThat sounds like simply having a formula on one sheet that refers to another sheet. The "secondary page" would have a formula for the total price and the primary sheet would have a formula referring to the total on the secondary sheet. If this does not relate to what you want to do, then I still do not have a clear picture of what you're trying to do.IIRC Excel allows you to refer to other sheets in formulae via a SheetName! type syntax; for example, if you want to include A6 from Sheet4 in a calc, you would use Sheet4!A6. I think this is the CASE, anyway. I haven't really used excel versions other then Version 5.0 very often.Quote from: BC_Programmer on October 26, 2010, 01:00:54 PM IIRC Excel allows you to refer to other sheets in formulae via a SheetName! type syntax; for example, if you want to include A6 from Sheet4 in a calc, you would use Sheet4!A6.Correct. I was leading to that but was waiting for a reply from the OP first.Has your question been answered? If you want the answer that is listed on the sheet named "calcs" in cell C17 for example (I tend to name my sheets) to be listed on sheet1 cell D36, all you have to do is in D36 use "=calcs!C17". The same can be done if you want to reference a DIFFERENT workbook entirely as "='[filename.xls]sheet!cell".One THING to add. If you link two sheets together, which is easy and common, both files need to be always together on the same HD or medium.Quote from: rthompson80819 on October 26, 2010, 04:56:17 PM One thing to add. If you link two sheets together, which is easy and common, both files need to be always together on the same HD or medium. Are you sure about that? I just did a test and the results contradict your statement. I saved an Excel file containing a formula on a sheet which summed a few cells. Then, I saved an Excel file on the hard drive with a formula referring to the first file, and I closed that file. Then, I opened the first file (on flash drive) and changed a value in a cell, saved it, and closed it. Then, I opened the second file (on the hard drive); the value displayed in the cell containing the formula linking to the other file did not automatically update but it did update when I selected the Data ribbon (Excel 2007) and told Excel to update values. Of course, the flash drive was connected all this time. Obviously, it would have to be connected. But, again, one file was on the flash drive and one on the hard drive. Thanks for the replies - I am familiar with formula from sheet to sheet however the data in the 'secondary sheet will have to be updated from time to time (for raw material increases for instance) and there will be new prices to add. I need to be able to up date item for item regardless of the slave/master relationship of position on the page. Any help? So, in other words, the position of the cell containing the sum on the secondary sheet will change, right? In that case, you would need to adjust the formula on the primary sheet. You could leave some empty rows in the secondary sheet, above the formula, to allow for adding of new items WITHOUT necessitating an adjustment of the formula on the primary sheet each time a new item is added to the secondary sheet. Another solution would be to convert this whole application to a Microsoft Access database. Quote from: SOYBEAN on October 26, 2010, 06:37:26 PM Are you sure about that? I probably should have worded that differently, but the two files need to be able to communicate, whether it's between two HDs, flash drives, or what ever. Thanks guys, just what I was looking for |

Solve : Ram Disc software ?? |
Answer» OK Thanks to the discussion> But 2. 7 will continue to write files where it deems neccessary when it can't write to pagefile.sys? As far as I know, no. Windows will continue to page, but it won't page using the hard disk. That is for someone else to clear up though. Quote If 1, where do the files go? The pagefile will remain on the drive until you disable and then delete it. Quote will 7 continue to write as much as it would with pagefile.sys? Yes, except it would be in the memory not hard drive. I am a little unsure about this. You may want to just google paging to get a better idea.Quote from: Linux711 on November 01, 2010, 01:16:00 PM As far as I know, no. Windows will continue to page, but it won't page using the hard disk. That is for someone else to clear up though. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. To (and from) where do you think files would be paged if not the HD?OK, pagefiles go to the drive. Do any ever go to ram? I think i'm finding thru my research is that pagefile.sys on a ssd - page size isn't great enough to be a longevity/lifespan concern. (altho 7 overprovisions the default size, it can be managed based on 7's demands for the user's needs) disable pagefile and the nand controller will place (perhaps it does it w/o the disable) the pages ramdomly in the APPROPRIATE block based on the amount data already in the blocks so that no one block fills before others (unless you're running low on space). i'll be researching more but, any comments before i solve this thread? And thanks again for the explinations everyone! Dis-information Post of the Month Award lands here...ok, thanks for explaining that to me.Just to add http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/expert/tulloch_partition.mspxQuote from: Linux711 on November 01, 2010, 11:28:59 AM It will save disk space on drive C: plus it's pretty pointless to have when you have 4GB or more RAM. No. It's not. the Page file is required in order for the Virtual Memory MANAGER to function properly. Without a pagefile, the VMM can only manage memory in larger 64K chunks (pages), as opposed to the 4K pages it can deal with when there is a pagefile. This is to prevent memory fragmentation, on account of the fact that without a pagefile no swapping can occur, in which case when a program allocates a piece of memory that memory is there for good (without a pagefile) until it's deallocated or the program terminates, as opposed to that memory being fully swappable. The net effect of not using a pagefile is that you get a limited uptime as a result of the fragmentation that will occur eventually as well as lower memory performance overall from the VMM. Re: the original topic of RAM drives. The last time they have had any use was with DOS, since you could convert extended memory into extra disk space when you were running programs that would otherwise only use conventional memory. Additionally, hard drives were very slow back in those days (todays hard drives aren't much slower then memory was then). USUALLY, the user would create a RAM drive (using DOS's VDISK.SYS or RAMDRIVE.SYS) that used extended memory or conventional memory or whatever, copy appropriate program files to that new drive, run the program from there, and then copy any needed documents or anything that needed to be persistent back to the hard drive, since everything on the RAM drive would be gone after a reboot or when you shut off the machine. There are some implications that putting a pagefile on a RAM drive would increase performance. This is blatantly false. The pagefile is there ONLY to hold data that is by definition "stale" if you haven't used photoshop in a while but it's still running, all the non-shared data pages are paged out to disk. "So" you say, "now that paging and paging out is faster!" And you would have me there. But by making a RAM drive, you are reducing the amount of total available memory (bear in mind that DESPITE what some people have said in this thread, you cannot create a ramdisk outside the ~3.5GB barrier of most consumer windows systems). Guess what you are doing by reducing the total amount of available memory? making data go stale faster. Now memory fills up quicker and therefore data will be paged out more often. Note that data is only paged out when necessary, so if you have 8GB of RAM, data will only be paged to disk when a program either purposely forced it to be paged to disk (for whatever reason) or when physical memory is low, or certain functions are called. So, even though you managed to make page operations extremely fast by using 4GB of your 8GB of RAM for a RAM drive and storing the pagefile there, you've defeated the purpose. All that is happening when you page now is that data is being copied from one area of memory to another; whereas if you had simply used a disk-based pagefile, you would be paging LESS and that 4GB of memory would be used as memory itself rather then some psuedo-copy location. Using a pagefile on a RAM drive defeats the entire purpose of the Virtual Memory scheme itself, and causes any number of the assumptions used in any Virtual Memory manager to become false; with a Virtual Memory manager (which essentially decides what get's paged to the pagefile and when) the assumption is that the pagefile access time is slower then memory, and that both can be accessed concurrently. When you create a pagefile in a RAMdrive, you are invalidating this assumption, which can only lead to less-then ideal logic and therefore less-than-perfect memory management. This combined with the fact that you have reduced the total memory lead to reduced performance all around. Now, putting a pagefile on a SSD, on the other hand, is a different story. a SSD drive is still slower then System Memory, and can still be accessed concurrent with system RAM. It makes a perfect place to put a pagefile; however, bear in mind that the performance increase by putting a pagefile on an SSD is not as great as the increase from installing the OS files and programs on an SSD.Well Done BC. You have infinitely more patience than I (well, I guess most people do for that matter ).Quote from: kingdaddyrabbit on October 31, 2010, 11:18:35 AM I was wondering if anyone has used, or knows about using, a ram disc prog. in conjunction with a ssd, for relocating certain files. Like the pagefile, temp and tmp or anything that you dont want to keep stored on youre pc.[/quote] |

Solve : Need an uncomplicated Music Program? |
Answer» I don't know if it is me or not, but I am finding WINDOWS Media to be not as user friendly as it had been prior to its "improvements". I would like a free music program that does pretty much the basics of organizing albums, and will rip and burn without going through a lot of drop down menus to find what you want, and does it in language you can UNDERSTAND. I FINALLY got Windows Media to rip an album but it didn't GIVE me a choice as to which songs I wanted ripped and then when I tried to get it to burn that album to a CD, it KEPT telling me to put in a CD which I did, about 10 times before I finally gave up. Winamp Media Player - MP3, Video, and Music Player - WinampThank you. I downloaded Winamp and will now try and figure out how it all works. |

Solve : Strange cursor bug..? |
Answer» Hi guys! Sometimes for no reason my cursor goes crazy ;o he picks randomly textures from the screen and transforms into them Really strange.. searched the whole net and didnt found anything. Who know.. maybe i didnt search enough, but STILL, can you guys help me? My OS is windows 7 64 bit (or 84 i got kind of confused in the last WEEK..) Ultimate version. Cursor over COMPUTER: SPECS for more info about my computer. The bug appears quite often, maybe 3-4 times a week or maybe more. The cursor can change in games, programs and almost everything. I think it happens only when I move it. Really strange.. Hmm.. are you sure its hardware failure? Can it be something from the software? Cuz my temperatures are fine.. my computer has something like a ventilation control system that controls the temperature by speeding up or down the fan. When I dont use my computer the fan almost stops, so the computer makes no sound If it matters.. and my mouse does that bug even when doing something really simple like moving it. Is uppose you could try updating the video driver. How do you know your temperatures are "fine"? Have you taken readings? Try disabling desktop composition for a while and see if the problem persists. my desktop used to do something similar as a result of playing videos using a certain hardware-accelerated codec, (temps were unaffected) but disabling desktop composition fixed it. (I later discovered that not using the aforementioned codec/player option made the problem go away). I noticed that this bug accures when I am playing a vid.. like you said, its probably from the codec. But.. whats desktop composition |

Solve : Copying files from computer to a flash drive? |
Answer» I'm really a novice here when it comes to this, so I need some help. I am using Quintessential Music Player to organize & PLAY my MP3's. What I am trying to do is to simply copy my music (MP3's) over to a flash drive. I want to be able to do this directly from the QMP's song list instead of from the directory where they are stored on my computer. The reason for that is that when I LOOK at these music files which are stored under My Documents > My Music, half of my SONGS only show the song title, not the artist or the album title. I want all of that to show in my car when I'm playing them. IN QMP, when I look at it's songs list, everything about that song shows & I want the same thing on my flash drive. Can someone help me here? soybean: and some headunits now come with usb ports and the codecs to play mp3, acc, and mp4 filesOK, I was not aware of that. You sparked by curiosity and I found an automotive unit with USB: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_24672_Pioneer_AVH-P3200BT.aspxMy Fiat 500 has one It also works to charge ipods and the like.Quote from: soybean on November 28, 2010, 07:39:18 AM How do you play songs on a flash drive in your car? The new Fords have a system called Sync. Part of this system allows you to play music with anything stored via a USB device. I currently use a flash drive instead of an actual MP3 player. KenQuote from: talontromper on November 28, 2010, 07:51:23 AM you have to edit the files to that, odds are that the albums and other info was filled in by QMP. If that's the case then rt click on the files you want to show albums and such on and go to properties and click the details tab and fill it in. Yes, this info was provided by QMP. But when you say "fill it in", do you mean MANUALLY? I'd guess there are probably about 100 songs (shown under My Music) that only show the song title. Seems like that would take me forever. Here's an example of what I'm talking about; the first one shows the song title, artist & album when played. The 2nd one doesn't. So what you are saying, for those that only show the song title, I must manually edit the file name to make it look like example 1 below? 01_-_good_time_-_good_time 25 Rhythm Of The Rain EDIT: Ok, I just tried what you said & when I right click on the song & go to Properties, I'm not seeing a details tab; only 2 tabs...general & summary. I can click the Summary tab, but it only allows me to change the song title. FYI: I'm using Windows XP. Kenthey're might be a program for this, to load the qmp data into the songs, but as far as i know for adding it to the song titles i think that it has to be done individually. I wonder if this "QMP data" is in fact ID3 tags. These can include Year - Genre - Album - Artist - Track - Title etc. There are plenty of apps that can apply these to mp3 files. I use on called Tag And Rename, and Mp3tag is a free one which can get tag info by online lookups. That's what i had THOUGHT as well, but i couldn't find any prgms that would convert the id3 tags to file names. |

Solve : spreadsheet problem? |
Answer» When using a spreadsheet with a percentages column I attempted to ALTER a percentage from 5% to 4.75%. I deleted the 5% and INSERTED 4.75% but when I exited the column the figure AUTOMATICALLY reverted to 5%. After several attempts I gave up. How can I rectify this? There is a button beneath the Number Format tab called "Increase Decimal" or Decrease Decimal". If you increase the % number by one or two decimals it should give you the 4.75% you are seeking. You probably have it set to 0 so if you increase it once it should be ok. There is a button beneath the Number Format tab called "Increase Decimal" or Decrease Decimal".To which version of Excel are you referring? Your REFERENCE to a "tab" is not clear. Quote from: wildwood on November 23, 2010, 05:34:39 PM If you increase the % number by one or two decimals it should give you the 4.75% you are seeking. You probably have it set to 0 so if you increase it once it should be ok.Obviously, the decimal place need to be increased twice to change from displaying 5.0% to 4.75% for numbers with two decimal places entered in a cell. I was using Excel 2007 while testing and checking this your version may vary. The cell that contains the % that you are trying to correct right click on then select Format Cells. Next Select the Tab named numbers Now under Category select Percent Then to the right set the Decimal Places Select okQuote from: Rustys on November 24, 2010, 11:47:36 AM Yes, that is a way to specify % format for a cell but he already had the cell set for % percent. I believe that's implied by "I deleted the 5% and inserted 4.75% but when I exited the column the figure automatically reverted to 5%." He just needs to increase the decimal by 2 places and that can done directly from menu in Excel 2003 or previous versions, and from wherever the feature is found in Excel 2007 or 2010.Quote from: soybean on November 24, 2010, 07:59:47 PM Yes, that is a way to specify % format for a cell but he already had the cell set for % percent. You are correct and it was implied when I wrote that. The next step is where Decimal Places setting is. |
