I have Movie Studio 8.0 and if I make an MPEG 2 File it PLAYS ok.

Now I also have Next DVD Ripper Free and Actusoft Free DVD Ripper and WEN I Ripped a DVD I always pick CONVERT to MPEG 2.
And it works but wen I play the MPEG 2 file back a window COMES up that tells me One Or More Pins are missing and you MAY not have the CODEC to play back the file??

This only happens wen I make an MPEG with Actusoft Free DVD Ripper and Next DVD Ripper if I make an MPEG 2 file with Movie Studio 8.0 it plays back ok?

I thought that the MPEG 2 CODEC for compresson was there for any program that would need it so if Movie Studio used it why is Actusoft Free DVD Ripper and Next DVD Ripper having problems???

Or is this not how it works??

I am TRYING to get nero on the newer COMPUTER. The old computer has nero on it, but the setup file is not there, i am wondering how to copy the program onto a usb and then place it on the new computer. thanx when i insert the DVD-R disc into the cd rom, CDBurnerXP does not recognise it, reading the same "no disc" message in the bottom left hand corner of the window. Have you ever at any time been able to "burn" a DVD using that optical drive?
SOMETIMES you can read from the front visible panel of the drive as to what it is. For instance the 2 optical drives i have on this computer one has dvdrw/r (that is a burner) the other has dvd rom (that is only a reader). If you cannot determine it from that manner then you can go into your device manager via "control panel-system-harware-device manager-cd/dvd drives-open the tab and see what is described there.If it is not readily apparent from what is described do a google search on exactly what is listed and it will tell you what they are. If you still have any information that came with your computer or the drive it will also tell you there. My Outlook email program stopped working, instead displaying a small window stating that Outlook could not open the window. I followed the directions on the Microsoft support site and ran a little applet THINGY they said would fix the PROBLEM. It did, but it also removed my profile so that when I start Outlook it runs me through a setup wizard to create a NEW profile.

OK, I did this, but when it opened my .PST file it showed all of my Outlook personal folders; everythin in my inbox is missing, though!

I backed everything up (including registry files) before I attempted my REPAIRS. Is there a better way to do this so that my Outlook works as before, and all of my email folders still contain their emails?

--RHB If you saved a copy of the .pst file, just REPLACE the new one with the old one. If not, and if the original .pst file was deleted, you're out of luck.

I just had to do a new install of XP Pro in the course of UPGRADING my hard drive. I then installed Office 2000, which has always worked WELL for me on XP. Now, Outlook starts when I click it, but then after a second or two it winks out. The task manager shows it running, then not. Word and Excel both work fine. I use Outlook all the time and have a lot of contacts and calendar events saved, so I really need to get it to work. Any ideas? Thanks... No error message? But, out of all of them, which is best, besides WOT? Just the best, overall. WOT and common sense browsing habits...I've been testing out Norton Safe Web Lite "Beta" for a few days now and it's pretty good. But, they do scan websites and like I said above that can be a very inaccurate way of rating. I found a very reliable site (malwareremoval.com) marked red by Norton. WOT is still more accurate. You can close the Norton safe Web toolbar and it will still warn on red websites.

I don't know if it will stay free after it goes to a final version or they will add it to their security suite. Details at the Norton Beta Center.

Okay, I'm running the most recently updated version of Vista. My internet works fine. Windows Live Messenger works fine. Trillian, Digsby, Pidgin, and YAHOO all will not work. I recently did a system restore (before trillian digsby or pidgin were installed) in order to fix my internet. I have no idea if this has anything to do with it.

EDIT: MSN and yahoo were working fine before the system restore (before the internet went down, of course). I also refuse to install AIM on this computer, since it practically infects it. I also can still use an online client like ebuddy to sign onto aim (or others). I removed my AV just in case, and still nothing.Welcome to CH.

Machine was working yesterday today XP will not load after about 15 seconds freezes up, I am able to get in using SAFE mode and my hard drives (boot, system, active) are all correct. I tried using the XP setup disk to do both an upgrade and new install and both freeze up at the begining. I did a restore to a month earlier did not help still freezes up. I am only using 96 ram, but it has been running on this small amount of memory for years. Just wonder why it works in safe mode?

Bigger problem my cd rw will not read xp disk on startup so will have to try the 6 floppy disks to see what happens as there most be hardware failure somewhere all though when I was still able to access XP I could read and write to the cd drive and I do have in the bios cd as first on the list.

That is what I did is run setup from windows and I have a partioned hard drive with fat and ntfs and seems like when reinstalling xp it put a folder named $Win something in the fat drive and I deleted it, but now I think it was because of lack of space on ntfs drive.

Using Avast's latest version. Product seems to be too generous to NOTIFY me everytime that "Definitions have been automatically updated" till I close the same using X.

Under settings or options couldn't find anything relevant. Is there a way to ensure a 'Silent' working of Automatic updates in the background & that too without causing a perturb?

Moved from another forum.I haven't tried changing the notification behavior but I would TRY the following:

Does that do it? This'll disable the 'Sound' associated with "Automatic Updates", however the 'Notification' at the bottom right will still appear! The whole purpose of notification is to be notified that your virus definition DATABASE is being updated and providing you protection against the most recent viruses. So, I'm puzzled why anyone would want to suppress it.

Anyway, all I can suggest is that you experiment with some settings. For example, I would try:

>Select the Summary screen, Current Status
>In the section of that screen labeled "SILENT/GAMING MODE", click on Change Settings
>In the Settings panel, select Status Bar (on left column)

I don't know how it happened, but, after having a severe snow storm here that made the power flicker off and on about 10 times during the storm, all the documents and FILE Folders in MY DOCUMENTS are all alphabetized in reverse from Z to A. I stupidly INSTALLED Office Mondo before realising it was not designed to be uninstalled properly. Have tried loads of forums' advice, using officer cleanup utilities, etc. I can't install Office 2010 full legit version on here now cause it sees the 'ghost' of Mondo still!

WMP12 annoyed me but I regret trying to roll back to 11. It didn't work for me as it did for others.. I think it's possibly more complicated for me, being on 64-bit Win7?

when I try to INSTALL OFFICE XP on xp it fails to install WORD the others install. if i install it on vista it installs every thing what is going on Just INSERT your office CD and choose modify (or change). Then enable publisher in the list and install.

Hello, I RECENTLY imported videos from my DVD-RAM Camera onto my computer, and the video says its 3 seconds long, even though its nearly 15 minutes. Problem with this is, even after 3 seconds, the video still plays, but the bar that indicates the length of the movie is maxed out.

The video file FORMAT is .VRO, and this happens in every player. I've also deleted and re-imported the video.

Just because the media is a type of DVD that can be used again does not mean the format is standard and can be READ on a computer. You will need to find a media player that recognizes that type of format. It should have come with the camera when you bought it.
What is the make and model number of your camera? You could try to go to the manufactures website and SEE if they have any suggestions on how to read the media on a HOME computer.

I made a DVD of an .avi file two nights ago, that's the REASON i've been trying to convert to an avi file b/c i knew it would make a dvd of that file. But now Windows DVD Maker won't burn it.

I had a Toshiba laptop with Vista and we were able to play SCRABBLE on it just fine. I got a new Toshiba laptop with Windows 7. I tried installing the same Scrabble DISK- which I own the original. My disc is the brand new in box untouched disk that I bought at Sam's Club and not a copy and it won't work. It gives me this message INSTEAD:

P.s. Even though the WIN 7 may not be listed as a useable O/S often the manufacturer of the software will have a driver update available on it's web site. You might want to check on that possibility.You might also try compatibility mode. Right click the icon, click properties, then compatibility tab. Try something like vista or XP or something. After updating Speed fan, I have been GETTING this message whenever Windows opens up:

In my VB-6 PROJECT, There are 4 fields in a table like below.

I linked this table to a combo box in VB-6, It SHOWS only one field of this table. I want that combo box should show all these field so that when I feed data, I may KNOW exact information that who is author and what is its price etc and when I click on any of it, only one field should appear in combo box after close of its popup.

I tried to join fields by using + and trim function for integer fields like "maths" + "|" + "author" + "|" + trim("price"). This syntax shows all JOINED fields in popup of combo box but when I select one of them, the entire line (joined) appears while I want only one of them to appear in combo box

This syntax of joining fields is working fine in FoxPro as I want above. All joined fields are shown in popup while only one filed appears in get field after selection of required field.

When we press the "PrintScreen" key the image is placed on the Clipboard.

We can then paste to Paint, Irfanview or another image editor and save the image as we would any other picture.

p.s.: The clipboard is a special storage area in RAM. The image remains on the clipboard unitl replaced with a different image or the computer is shutdown.

Your player documentation should indicate winch, if any video formats it can use. Of course it has to be a player with a LCD scree! Such players should come with their own file management software.

If you do not have the right software, please give some more DETAILS. Can it play AVI format? Does it only play AMV. Does it have a small sample file on it? What format?
Is it AMV? Did you Google AMV format? Oh-Oh. Don't bother with the top sites that tell you have to do AMV. I guess they paid Google some bucks to put them on the top of the list. All are interesting, but a waste of time.

There is infomercial software out there can can convert anything to anything. But you do not have to use any of them if you don't want to shell out $40 just to use a player that may have cost that much or ever less!

Please provide details and I, or someone else here, will direct you to places where you can get freeware that will do a good jog of format conversion.

Of course you can just on trying Google. But it may take you a week to find the ones that are worth the effort. Some of use here have already done that.

But if your play does AVI you have it easy. Converting MP4 to AVI is easy.And you can burn DVDs from AVI and MP4 and some other formats. But not AMV.

If you want to search Google for more, use the keywords "Burn p Audio CD" and find lots more like it. Also use "Rip Audio CD" for the reverse and find programs that do both.

Windows Media Player will also burn audio CDs. I just am not keen on using WMP unless I have to.. There is something about it I don't like. I don't WORRY how BIG the file is I can take it??The bitrate is approximately 860kbps to store a average movie on one 700MB CD.
DivX, a bitrate of 1086 KBps and a frame rate of 29.97, is good quality.
For mobile devices a value about 500 should be OK, for a computer everything over 700 should look OK too.
Just use a little lower than your original file if you want the best quality, but large file size and got the time.
Each HOUR of footage may take 3.5 - 7.5 hours to encode, have fun!Thanks for the help.

On one of my computers, every time I try to open a picture, it automatically attempts to open it with MICROSOFT Office Picture Manager. I would like to change this so that I can open pictures without this program and in a more simple WAY. How can I change this setting? 1) Right click the file (the photo)

I hope someone can help me on this. I just purchased a refurb laptop. All drivers and everything is installed correct with the exception of ONE thing. I can not GET connected to the internet. I go into device manager and I have a yellow ? next to PCI Modem. I am sure this is keeping me from getting on the internet. Also, my laptop is an IBM notepad T43. I have a 2wire wireless router that I tried to hook up to my laptop. When I connect to my laptop, it says that it is connected and has full bars. It also says I have an excellent connection but when I try to get online, it will not let me. I do not know if this is because of that yellow ? by PCI Modem or not. Now if I go onto the unsecure wireless connection (can not remember the name of it) it connects and lets me get online, but the connection is very very low. Can someone please help me out here? That PCI modem has to be a dial up modem. I've never seen an internal DSL or cable modem for laptops. I'd disable it, especially since it's flagged in device manager.

Hi everyone. I recently purchased an iomega Screen Play Pro HD. It is an external hard drive that can store and play movies and various other file formats. So I have some of my movie files currently on this hard drive but the only catch is that this hard drive does not support 5.1 surround sound...just 2.0 STEREO. So the movie files I have that are encoded in 5.1 audio will not play any sound. I was curious to KNOW if there was any WAY I could take those movie files and convert them back to 2.0 stereo so they would work on my Screen Play Pro?...perhaps some type of software is out there that could do this. I am TRYING to create a boot disk with BartPE PE Builder. The STEP I'm on is asking for the path to the Windows installation files. This is where I'm lost--where are the installation files on my hd? my server is RUNNING MSexchange. the exchange account delivers 3 DIFFERENT email address to my outlook inbox. I would like to be able to CHOOSE which email address to send from when sending an email from outlook but it only allows for one exchange account. When i set up a pop3 account for one of the emails i want to send from I then RECEIVE two of every email because it does not recognize that the pop3 email i set up is also included in the exchange account.

How can set up additional accounts in outlook and not get duplicates from the exchange account emails or how can i remove an email address from the exchange account so i can then set it up as a pop3 account. First I want to say that I have tried to get help with this on the official LotrO forums and on the offical uTorrent forums but people doesnt care enough to try and help me with my problem.

LotrO = Lord of the Rings ONLINE, the MMO game.
uTorrent = The popular Bitorrent application.

Ok. I have used uTorrent for years, love it, and I have played LotrO for a while now, about two weeks in-game played TIME. I have been struggling with disconnects from the server, it has been fairly random at times. Sometimes I can play for 5 hours without any disconnects, other times 1 minute is all I can play before I get disconnected. Recently I found out that the disconnects are caused by having uTorrent run in the background. I have been testing it for some days now and I am 100% sure uTorrent makes me disconnect from the LotrO server.

My internet is never down, I am only loosing connection to the LotrO server. If I start LotrO first, then start uTorrent I get instantly disconnected. If I start uTorrent first its fairly random when I get disconnected from LotrO, but most likely its within the first 5 minutes, its very rare that I can play for a long time.

Now, you might ask me why I want to have uTorrent running while playing. This is easily because I want to seed 24/7, and this shouldnt be a problem as I have ALWAYS been doing that and I have played a lot of other games at the same time before I started to play LotrO. These games include World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike, Star Trek Online, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and a lot more games and I never had any problems playing any of these games while running uTorrent.

You might think it's my internet connection/bandwidth that gets overloaded or SOMETHING making my connection to the LotrO server unstable, wrong. Having zero active torrents, and I am still disconnected. On the uTorrent forum, the one person who has replied to the thread jumped to the conclusion that my router was to blame. He was sure that it was overloaded and this caused me to disconnect. Of course, this is only to divert the blame away from uTorrent. How can my router overload without having any active torrents? Downloading/Uploading with 0kb/sec doesnt maky my router overload. I have downloaded with 3.5MB/sec and uploaded with 3.5MB/sec at the same time, and at the same time been playing games with superb latency/ping. My 30Mbit Fiber connection is rock steady, and the ISP router is not garbage like many other ISP's routers. And if my router overloaded, my internet connection would drop, not only my LotrO connection.. and this doesnt happen.

Also, I have forwarded the one port that uTorrent use, and the 3 ports that LotrO uses. So everything should be in order.. I just cant understand why I keep disconnecting while running uTorrent in the background.. something in uTorrent must be blocking the packages sent to/from me/LotrO server. That is the only thing I can think of.. but if this is true, how do I fix this? But.. also.. if that is what's causing me to disconnect, am I the only one with this problem? If not, why has noone else posted about this on the internet? I can't find any posts on this issue. Maybe I am the only one who's found out that uTorrent is causing disconnects.. anyways.. please help me anyone!

You have have a NAT problem if it is a router. Check your routers settings and allow Nat settings.

Peer-to-Peer file sharing issues

If you run a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file sharing system such as KaZaA, Morpheus, Grokster, Gnutella, LimeWire, WinMX, or eDonkey2000, you may expect the following problems unless you make specific configuration changes:

* your cable modem connection will be continually hitting the rate cap, leading to apparent POOR bandwidth for other applications;
* your ping times will look bad;
* your traceroutes will look bad, even on the very first hop to the local UBR;
* your online games will show terrible latency;
* your firewall might detect hundreds or thousands of incoming connection attempts;
* if your PC is behind a NAT router, the P2P application might not work properly.

Be aware that most P2P systems will run in the background even when their window is not open. Because of their P2P nature, they are capable of loading your cable connection even when you are not downloading files: other users might be causing your PC to be uploading to them, or your PC might be acting as a SuperNode server, passing on search requests from other P2P clients.

The problem of hitting the rate cap is the same in nature as that described for on-line gaming. The P2P application sees a network connection via an ethernet or USB interface and assumes a fast network such as a LAN. It does not realise that the cable modem connection will impose a rate cap. As soon as P2P traffic hits the rate cap (especially the upload rate cap), ping times will go through the roof, and other applications will suffer. The general strategy to avoid this is....

How do you know if you have malware? I have been having problems with my desktop. A while back I logged my computer off and SHUT it down. The next day I come back to it, and it began acting funny. It reverted back to the Classic Windows look and it does not allow me to change it back. The computer also does not open internet explorer, it pops onto the screen as a white page, then just disappears. My McAfee does not open either, I wanted to run a virus scan on the computer but it just doesn't even attempt to open.

Usually when I upload a picture, after I "browse", I right CLICK on the picture I want to upload, and get a screen that includes "select". Lately when I do this, I get a DIFFERENT screen with no option to select the photo. What goes I am not a user of Picasa however my wife is. She has suggested 2 different approaches to possibly dealing with your problem.
1.Update the software to the latest version. This can usually be done from the "HELP" tab on the open Picasa window.
2.As this is a free software program. Go to add/REMOVE programs and remove the current software. Then after that go to the Picasa site and re download/install it using the latest version.

I use AOL Mail email service.

Last THURSDAY I received several AUTOMATED message acknowledgements for email that that I had not sent, and also some undelivered mail reports from, I presume, the AOL mail server.

Apparently the alleged messages were "no subject" and I think addressed to around 25 email addresses, all of which were in my Contacts list - the message itself consisted only of a list of these addresses - nothing more. No comeback in the couple of days since then.

I am wondering how such a thing could happen - some kind of HACKING into my emails? It seems rather pointless.

I need some help with Settings ING Format Factory.

Wen I am at the main screen and I pick from the left hand side Bar what I want to do Say ALL TO VIDEO FILE.

Then I ad my video file I want to convert.
On the RIGHT hand side I pick what I want to convert to from a DROPDOWN list VOB AVi MPG and so on

Nomatter what I pick AVi or MPG anything the top right hand side of the main screen says
720x480 FPS 29.97 Bit Rate 9800 KBPS

So I THOUGHT if I click on the Settings Tab I can chacnge things to what I want and I do.
But wen I click OK Tab and it brings me back to the main screen it still says 720x480 FPS 29.97 Bit Rate 9800 kbps on the top right hand side.

What am I not understanding??
