Solve : downloaded document corruption?

Answer»

A document down loaded from a WEB site by Firefox had TEXT and page numbers missing but headings and images were there. The originator of the document then sent a COPY as an attachment to an email. I used Adobe Acrobat to down load it. That copy was also corrupted. What format was used? PDF?
Possibly the author used a PDF CREATOR that does not conform to the Adobe standard for PDF.The author said that over 500 people had downloaded the document without a problem over three years. Quote from: denisaf on November 25, 2013, 02:06:14 PM

OK, ignore my prior post.
It must be there is something wrong with either Firefox or your computer. My guess is you have a AV program that interferes with downloads.
That IDEA was expressed on the Mozilla forum years ago.

Solve : Browser will not connect to website?

Answer»

I have been using Pale Moon browser for over a year now and have been logging in to a certain website with no problems. Then a couple weeks ago I started getting this message, "Pale Moon can't establish a connection to the server at XXXX.com". I tried other browsers, IE and Chrome. Same thing. I checked online to see if the site was up at a couple places and it was. I was able to access it via a proxy site but not all the links and buttons functioned. I checked with a friend who also uses the site and they said they had no problems. What would cause it to all of a sudden be unavailable from my computer? Sounds like am IP thing. I even had my IP updated and changed. Same thing.Your PC or your ISP is blocking that site.
The fact that you see it in proxy indicates that. In some caries, the remote server is blocking you. They can block IPs in a certain area. A new IP does not help.

The exact cause might never be known. The site your want may be on a BLACKLIST, or your IP is on their blacklist.  You can also run and scan your computer with  Malwarebytes basically to check for any malware which may be CAUSING this. Or you may also check the Windows host file if any application or malware has made any MODIFICATIONS to that file which may be blocking that website to be displayed. What Site ? ?Thanks for the answers. Solve : How to make a wirless laptop work with a cable modem?

Answer»

Hi not sure if I am in the right place, I am trying to make my laptop hook up to my desktop cable modem, not getting a security box when I click on my wireless modem OPTIONS on my laptop. I have a Motorola surfboard modem. my desktop specs are listed under specs.....both computers are running windows 7, thanks. Which Surfboard Motorola are you using for model #? Also are you running without a router which normally offers up the wifi? Most setups ate a Modem  which has a router connected to it and then all computers connected to the router, however if its just 1 computer you could run without a router directly to the modem, although I do not advise this type of connection due to security risks of not running a router. Routers are CHEAP if you dont have one and need one. You can buy a wifi router for as LOW as $15 online or as expensive as hundreds of DOLLARS for a home rated router. I have a $15 router that I flashed with DD-WRT and unlocked its potential to have way more features that a $100 router would have for free.

If you just have a Surfboard Motorola Modem connected directly to Desktop, then you might not have wifi at all to CONNECT to!

Solve : How do I get webpage to cover the whole of the desktop??

Answer»

This has been provoking me for like ever, but just keep forgetting to ask how to fix it. Take a look at the webpage and you can see it doesn't cover my entire desktop like I would like it to do. I keep having to mess about re-sizing it ever time I start Google chrome. How do I get it to cover my entire desktop from the start WITHOUT messing about with re-sizing or expanding everytime? Thanks!!

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]I use F11 key when I want page to be full and F11 to bring back the desktop etc.

BTW my Cat taught me about F11... walked away from computer one day and cat walked across KEYBOARD, and I got back and was like ...what the.... and started pressing keys until it went away and found F11 was the key

Cat also taught me about how dangerous a power strip is under a desk that can get stepped on and shut off. Pepsi BOTTLE cap with loop of electrical tape over power switch was cure to random power outages to computer equipment that was caused by cat.

Yes, I know about the F11 key, but I just want to start my browser and it be full screen without having to do anything else. As for your suggestion about the Pepsi bottle cap & the electrical tape. Can I use a Diet coke bottle cap? It's just I'm a bit on the large size at the present and need to lose some weight. I would upgrade to the Pepsi Bottle cap at a later date though. Please Advise!!Looking at your pic, it's not F11 you want, it's Zoom.  Looks like it's zoomed out too much.  Don't know how to do it with Chrome.  For Firefox, use Cntrl+ and Cntrl- Quote

Feng Shui declares Pepsi Cap and not Diet Pepsi Cap to be used in the OFFICE to protect power switch from being switched off     Use of a Diet Pepsi Cap or other product such as Coke would CREATE an imbalance in the office which could lead to a catastrophic loss of data in the near future. Ask a friend if you can have their Pepsi Cap when they are done or promptly buy a Pepsi and pour it down sink and use the cap. Make sure cap is dry first to avoid shock!  Quote from: Frankie on October 30, 2013, 10:57:28 PM

Not one of the gurus, but this appears to be a setting in your graphics display. Right-click on the desktop and check your resolution. For the best looking image, it should be set to the native resolution of your monitor - but you can enlarge or shrink the display if you wish.

Solve : There are no comments below a video on YouTube in Mozilla?

Answer»

It's been a couple WEEKS already like that. There are no visible comments below a video on YouTube. They were visible before. That's what happens in Mozilla browser. I can see comments/posts in IE browser on YT though. How is that? I don't understand that. That's odd. Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web CONTENT: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

I followed your instructions ad2066 and still no changes. Comments still cannot be seen below a video. After all of these I even did reset Firefox - no help. Then I had uninstall and reinstall Mozilla Firefox - no help.
This must be really weird case.
Thank you for your willingness to help me anyway. Did you download latest copy of firefox and installed it after uninstalling it or did you install from the setup you already had saved on your desktop. (That's what most people do). Quote from: PCdoc on November 18, 2013, 03:51:47 AM

Does it?  I don't have a G+ account and can still use Youtube and see comments as usual.
I'm basing my assumption that I don't have a G+ account based on the fact that on the Google home PAGE, when logged in, I see a "+You" link which, when clicked, directs me to "Join Google+ by creating your public profile".  I've never knowingly signed up to G+ and don't intend to.

Solve : Administrator on Website is tracking me?

Answer»

To make it short, I was banned from a website (www.wikia.com) and two administrators keep tracing me, even after I change my external IP address. I had them both on Skype for a period of time... I though maybe they are resolving my IP from there; but I deleted skype from my computer and changed my IP but the issue persisted. I have not done anything wrong, except evade previous bans 'which is against their policy' and the two admins keep sticking to this and banning all my accounts indefinitely. They don't do this to other users evading bans, just to me. So my question is this: what could they possibly be USING to track me?

I feel very scared right now, because I have tried everything from changing my external IP, my internal IP, using VPN/Proxy servers... I even switched my modem and with it my MAC address (not because of this issue), and they still keep finding out who I am. If worst comes to worse I am thinking of emailing the police and telling them the situation and asking them what I can do, and if they could help me find out who is stalking me online. One of the administrators messaged me in the chatroom last night and told me I cannot hide from him, and that no matter what Proxy or VPN I hide behind he will always find me; he also said there is a flaw that keeps giving me away but said he will never tell me what it is, then he banned me again.

What I am asking from anyone on here who has an in-depth understanding of how websites work and how they track regular users, is to tell me exactly what they are probably using to find me. I know the answer may be obvious, and they are probably LAUGHING about it, but I am SICK of being restricted from ACCESSING the site and talking to the friends I have made on there. I have tried deleting cookies as well, that didn't work either. Please, someone who knows what I need to do to become an anonymous user once again please list out all the steps I need to take.

I would like to add that I am not a hacker, a spammer or someone who harasses other users online; if I wanted to do that, I would be content with the couple of hours I am able to get on the website using a VPN or changing my IP address. I want to stick to my one IP and stop being harassed by these two admins, who have a thing for making my life MISERABLE (one of them even told me they are doing this out of spite, on skype) Some additional details... when I go to my router settings and clone my MAC address and change my WAN IP I am allowed back onto the website, but they have some method of checking it is me. I am banned constantly without any warning or without doing anything against the websites policies. I have explained the situation to the staff on the website but they don't seem to care.

Please Help!  You want help to evade a ban. I don't think that is going to happen regardless of your storytelling abilities.
I'm afraid we can't be of assistance to you. I'm locking this thread.

Solve : msn games - says Your browser or operating system does not meet the minimum requ?

Answer»

Not sure I'm in the right PLACE for this question.  I have IE11/Windows 7.  When my wife or grandson (not sure which) was playing games, something called conduit or something like hat was trying to download, but my anti-virus blocked it.  UNFORTUNATELY it kept popping up everytime the wife tried to play something or go to her home page. Anyways, I searched online and all my answers said to simply reset ie, which I did but now she gets mad cuz she can't play her games because of the error.  I know the system meets the minimum requirements because all was fine before this conduit thing.  I did a virus scan/check and it's all clean.  Thanks for any help you can provide or shed light on this issue. The conduit is NOT a program you want or need.
Open control panel, look for remove programs. Scroll down and find conduit and remove it and restart your PC.
If that does not work, please come back here.
thanks for replying, I checked programs, nothing conduit.  computer has been restarted, same result.  thanks. You're infected...a stubborn one to remove.

Solve : Image Gallery Site won't let me Save their Galleries to my Favorites?

Answer»

If you look at the attached file, you will SEE part of the window that pops up every time I attempt to save any gallery to my favorites list.  The small grey box at the bottom is supposed to say "Add to Favorites", but as you can see it is blank.  When I hover my cursor over it, it changes color slightly like it's supposed to, but when clicked there is no reaction.  I am currently using a Windows 7 with Chrome, but when I attempted to save the gallery by using IE as my browser instead, I had the same result.  I tried deleting cookies linked to the site and activated and deactivated various plugins with no effect.  This issue only applies to this single page and nowhere else, and I am fairly convinced that it is an offline software issue.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

Solve : Browser text font is weird?

Answer»

Hi! I'm not sure if this is just in my mozilla BROWSER but my text font appears to be smaller and, well, off.
http://prntscr.com/2fxbs0 here's a screenshot that I took. The smaller font may be everywhere but its not noticeable but when I open my browser its quite noticeable.
I have tried usint alt+ (+/-) but while that does make the text bigger it still looks kind of weird.
Maybe its just me but is there some other way to change the text font? I think this problem started when a program I use (x-MOUSE, basically i have shift, ctrl and alt bound on my mouse keys) kinda malfunctioned and basically i just clicked lots of stuff when I think I had my shift key on. I also already re-adjusted Clear TYPE but that didnt realy fix anything.
Any help is much appreciated.Doesn't look too off the WALL to me from the screenshot...
However i would suggest running Firefox from Start/All Programs/Safe Mode and see if it's any different...
Safemode FireFox dis-ables all addons/extensions...then you can work from there and decipher which ONE is causing it....

Solve : IE 11?

Answer»

Just a question, rather than a problem.
In times past I had downloaded IE 10 update. This resulted in my fonts having "bits" missing on the vertical strokes etc. I System Restored on that occasion back to the original IE and all was serene.
I was offered IE11  update  and believing the bug had been removed, downloaded it. Same problem with the fonts in files and print. Another System Restore and all serene. Running Windows 7, 64 bit as specified in the download..
I am quite happy using the IE I have now, but was just wondering if this is widespread, or what could be causing it.So, what version of IE are you running now?IE 9-Google-Firefox. No problems.only when I tried to download IE 10 and 11
Happily using IE9 but curious as to why it WOULD reject the updates.
Scanned with Malwarebytes, Spybot and CC.
Thanks for your interest.
When PRESENTED with the invitation, I too upgraded to IE11, and found many programs adversely affected including something as SIMPLE as the "desktop GADGETS" which stopped being DISPLAYED correctly. Reverted to IE 10 and all was well again.

Solve : Play .swf files in Firefox??

Answer»

It seems like I can't play .SWF files in firefox, it just re-download the file.

The .swf file is working, I got the latest flash player, I have restored all the options it will do with files (like open/download  file etc) I have the latest updates on the Win7 OS, CC+ 2005/2008, DirectX 11/10/9>.

I think I didn't forget anything now..swf files on web pages, or some downloaded files?I have a .swf file on my computer that I want to open. Then, you need a standalone Flash Player, like this one: http://www.wimpyplayer.com/products/wimpy_standalone_flv_player.htmlNope, didn't work. You can always download a freestanding player (ie, VLC, GOM, etc)Bad file?It was working with Internet explorer, but I got sick of all those pop-ups who opens randomly with it, so I removed it.So there is noway I can run a .swf file?

None of the programs you guys have said worked, Internet Explorer won't run it, it behave same as Firefox and want to open/save it, I have reseted the Download/open choice thing, re-install Firefox. The file is not bad because it has been working before and I tried to download some new/different ones. Upload the file(s) here: http://www.filedropper.com/
Post download link (copy URL: link):

i like GOOGLE chrome but i hate the looks of it, it has less options and the main thing tha bothers me is the bookmark toolbar, in its original form you cannot see a lot of them without removing the names (in firefox install roomy and favicon changer and voila) but i DECIDED to put them in folders by genre, but these folders all look the same i i cant find a way to change the icon to an image that fits the categorie, so right now my chrome browser is ugly.
can you help me change those folders icon to images of my choice?

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]Go back to FireFox...
BTW if it's slow it's probably a connection issue...or broken addon/extensions.

Solve : Fix Firefox shortcuts?

Answer»

If I click a desktop shortcut (not a bookmark) to any about:"page" (i.e. about:config), the shortcut opens Internet Explorer and brings me to the Internet Explorer "Navigation to the webpage was canceled" page.

A bookmark does work while in the bookmark manager, It also works if I drag n drop from desktop to browser, but if I try to use it from my desktop, it does opens IE..

Because at one point in time it all worked the way it is supposed to, I am guessing that it happened when I was fiddling with uninstalling Firefox.exe and replacing it with Firefox portable.

Probably due to being over aggressive with the use of Revouninstaller, I messed up something in the registry by deleting something that doesn't GET corrected even when you use the Firefox installer.

Anyway, that's my theory.

There is no "open with" on any of my XP shortcut context menus.

I did a registry search, and these were the only about: related things that came up.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Extensions Off Page"="about:NoAdd-ons"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Security Risk Page"="about:SecurityRisk"

thanksCheck and make sure Firefox is set as the default browser...
It's either that...or you're infected.
Run scans with all your protection apps after doing the above.Firefox is my default browser.  I have been searching for a solution for a while now, and have TRIED all the conventional remedies that I could find.  I am not infected.  Everything else systemwise operates fine.

All "REGULAR" internet shortcuts and bookmarks work normally.

The only ones that don't work LIKE the others are the ones with the about: protocol.

The reason I believe it should work is that I think (operative word think, but with some confidence) I remember a time in the past when it did.

Can anyone say definitively whether or not by default Firefox is designed to open this type of shortcut (to about:home, for example) in Firefox?

Solve : Website wont open now?

Answer»

I am an insurance Agent and MANY of my carriers require that we use IE to access their website quoting and servicing site.

One of the sites would not open properly so their technical person helped me GET it to work.

Now (I believe because of what ever we did for theirs) another mail server site that I use will not open.  AGH!  I don't know who to call-the first one or the 2nd one.

Any suggestions on what I MIGHT be able to do on my own first?

Thanks

SI'd suggest the first thing you do is find out what the TECH did.

Solve : Organizing History in Firefox?

Answer»

Hello FOLKS,

In my previous versions of Firefox, the browsing History could be organized into Folders.
I could always go back and find what I WANTED in a Folder with that site's name.  In my
present version 13.0 the History for a specific day is filled with all sites visited without
giving an option for ORGANIZING them into folders.

Is there an option/add-on to deal with this I should say "deficiency".

THANK you in advance...

Solve : IE and Chrome need help?

Answer»

This started with messages saying my IE was outdated.  And indeed it was slow and sorta acting up. So, I installed IE 9 for Windows 7 only to find out I already had IE 9 for Windows 7.  But I did go ahead and do a NEW install.  (It took away my beloved tool bar favorites, not the others)

Then IE and now Chrome are both........
When I make a search on Google, click a page (I've been trying for Amazon), so click to go to Amazon, I get a "This page is not available".  I run the troubleshooter and it says 'no problems found'.

Now, when I take Chrome to Amazon, it loads a BLANK white page.

Then other pages open but a white box comes up and blocks me from seeing.

One time it came up and said the site didn't have something like an ID number.

The odd part is that it's not every search, it's certain periodic websites.

And inside one of my ONLINE programs, when I want to switch to a new window, windows comes up with ...  "continue running this script?  Yes & No".  It repeats it, so I have to quit.

Another thing... I see I have no Java on IE in the manage add-ons.  I've always had java there before.  I tried to learn how to put it in and couldn't figure it out.

Should I do a system restore?

(sorry I wrote a BOOK!)
Thank you,  parakeet8
You can try FireFox as a temp solution.
http://www.mozilla.org/Clear your cache files regularly and Internet Explorer is on version 11 already. Remove Java by Add or Remove if regularly visited websites is not needed and update Flash plugins as well.  Might wanna run your antivirus and MALWAREBYTES to clear possible PUPs and Adwares just in case.

Please check with internet explorer if you are experiencing the same problem.so been using it and i didnt get a blank screen. Please try a reset of Google Chrome. reset chrome, had it HAPPEN again.Sorry, I think there's mis-understanding. Solve : Programming Firefox or any internet browser...?

Answer»

Can we add an additional program to an internet browser such as to block a site based on texts containing in the site? Hosts File...can you tell me in short what does it do??
In short it'll block all sites of your choosing...it's all explained in the Link.I know that Host file method.
I need to program a browser that when this word let it be "APPLE" comes in any website, the website should be blocked.
Also for images only the Adult images should be blocked and other images may remain.Seen this already?

You don't know the hosts file method...and didn't read the material.
At least that's the impression i get.
Not sure what other images on an adult site you would want to see...they are pretty much all adult so i doubt you can do that selectivelly...or at all...You would really be best to forget about just doing this in Firefox and doing it machine wide, otherwise people COULD get around the restrictions just by using a different browser.

There are a bunch of different ways to block sites with varying levels of security so it really depends on how experienced the people you are trying to RESTRICT are with PCs

The hosts file is an option but as you already said, this only lets you block certain websites, not based on categories.

OpenDNS is a good option for this as it allows you to block sites that you specify or everything that falls into a certain predefined category, when using this you just need to make sure that the PERSON you are trying to block doesn't know how to or isn't able to (due to user account restrictions) change the  system's DNS server.I didn't understand Camerongray about opendns.
And for Patio, I want to block all female pictures whether its a adult or not. And the remaining pictures such as trees, cars etc. stays.
So, there may be a procedure to program the browser to block all female pics. But on other hand I understand that program cannot scan the pic whether it is a females or other, So, the Host file method is suitable for blocking ADS , adults, but it does not block all female pics. Any how this method is preferable. My short answer would be that you cannot accomplish what you want to do...

Not in any way i'm aware of. Quote from: IPDO on February 09, 2014, 12:19:27 AM

This really doesn't make sense at all.  Your browser has no way of knowing what is shown on a photo.  The photos displayed on a web page are put there by whoever developed or maintains the website, and they can name the picture files any name.  So, I'm puzzled how you could even get such a NOTION in your head.  Quote from: IPDO on February 09, 2014, 12:19:27 AM

While I can't see any reason for doing this, what you want is impossible - Your computer cannot tell what a picture contains.

How do you FLUSH DNS cache in Firefox?
That might not be the right question.
When I make minor changes to a website, it does not show until a F5 refresh is given.
OK.
But Favicon does not update.

But if Chrome is mused instead of Firefox, the new Favicon shows. Chrome is very seldom USED on this laptop, only for testing strange things LIKE this. Also, Internet Explorer also   shows the new Favicon .But even now, after about twenty minuets FF still shows the old Favicon. Could this be due to some kind of cache that was not fused?

1. In Firefox and Google you can remove add-ons.

2. You can also reset the browser back to its FIRST install. Recommend exporting bookmarks first

3. Look for any installed toolbars in control panel that you don't want and uninstall.

Solve : Login sticks in IE?

Answer»

Hi, I have a Windows 7 pro PC (32bit) with IE 9 installed. There is one site that the password sticks and when I log out, It forces the WINDOW to close and it will not take out my password. So when I OPEN that site again, I am already logged in. I need to enter DIFFERENT credentials and cannot.
I have scanned the device for viruses and it comes clean. I do need a memory upgrade, I only have 2 Gb. right now. Other than deleting all my passwords to all my sites, is there another way? This site is an auto manufacturer and all they can suggest is to delete all my passwords.

Thanks for your help in advance,Which site ? ?kdealer.net is the site and when she goes to another computer (IE 9 but W7 64) the site asks for her password every time.

Let me add also, that all users are forced to close the browser when they do log out, so that is normal.
This has happened before on another pc with a Nissan site and I had to uninstall an HP ie addon to get rid of the problem, but I don't see any programs like that on this computer. It actually seems the errors are on their END...have you contacted them ? ?NO, if we go to another computer it lets us log off and use other credentials.     Login here failed...do you have IE set to save cookies and passwords ? ?
It can be done on a site by site basis....I unchecked the box to save passwords, and I didn't make any changes in the settings for cookies. They should be default settings.Thats why it's not saving your login and password then...Please understand that's not the problem. It will not let go of my user name and password. It has saved it! You would not be able to log in to kdealer because you do not have a Dealer user name and password. It's not the site that is the problem. It is some kind of add on in IE.
Please read my FIRST post carefully.

Is anyone else available to help me?

Solve : Firefox won't open?

Hi -
Since yesterday I have been unable to open Firefox - my preferred and main browser.  When I click the desktop icon the hourglass icon flickers very briefly then nothing. I had not long previously had problem updating Java on my system (I keep getting "Entry Point Not Found" when I try to run the UPDATE) and I suspect that may have something to do with it.  I also TRIED uninstall/reinstall Firefox in Add or Remove Programs but when I click the "remove" box nothing happens. Also tried System Restore - operation succesful - but same results re Firefox.  Advice appreciated.
I have WINDOWS XP SP3 and Firefox v 27.0.1What happens if you try and load it from the Start Menu ? ?...

There is also an icon for FFox Safe Mode...try that as well. Now all ok - thanks for your interest, patio.  I did try all ways I could think of to start, then I got to Mozilla help page, where they stated that my version needed upgrading.  I downloaded the upgrade (to version 28) and now it seems fixed.  I feel a bit of a twit as I should have done that first. Anyway, thanks again.Good to hear you are fixed up...stop by ANYTIME...

Solve : Homepgae is jacked in all bowsers?

I have Yahoo set as the HOMEPAGE for all of my browsers, IE11, Chrome, and FIREFOX but my homepage as well as the first page to appear when opening a new tab is a generic search page. I have tried changing the homepage in Windows Network settings but there is no effect. SCANNING with MALWAREBYTES and Norton Internet SECURITY shows no malicious code which could possibly be causing this. This is probably the cause of installing another program which I have verified, but I do not know how to stop the homepage from being hijacked.

Solve : Could not Open Web Page on certain PC?

Answer»

Two of the PC in my office cannot display a website that other PCs can.

What is the problem and solution?

Thanks.

Look at the crossed out SSL in the address bar...
That means the browser is set to check for SSL when loading a page and blocks it if it is not secure. The other PCs in the office can OPEN the website with no problem, except these two.

So what should I do?
Try typing in http: and the rest of the address 1st...SEE if it loads.Looks like you're using Chrome, Google's browser.  Are the other computers using Chrome?  Have you tried Internet Explorer or some another browser? The page can open with IE or Firefox on both PC.

Typing "http:" for the address will be automatically changed to "https:".

We need to use Chrome because it allows us to save selected pages as PDF, while IE and FireFox could not.

FYI I've scanned both PC with AVG, Malwarebytes' and SUPERAntispyware. Found some issues but the situation remains the same after cleaning. Try Foxit for Firefox...Free.I'll try that.

But what's the problem with the Chrome on the two PC actually?
I believe there should be a solution?
Maybe some settings or options somewhere?I'm using Chrome now and it has no option to save a web page as PDF.  Neither does IE.

If you want to capture a web page as a PDF file, I suggest you install a PDF "printer"; that will allow you to "print" a PDF from any application that has a Print command.  Numerous freeware programs are AVAILABLE, one of them being http://www.dopdf.com/In Chrome, there is the print option to "Save as PDF"

[/URL][/img]

There is no such option in IE or FF.

Anyway, printing as PDF ASIDE, I'm still eager to know what is the cause and the solution for the page access issue.Any solution?

Anyway, I just noticed that the image is missing from my reply above, and I can't edit the post (I wonder why).

Here is the image:

OK, I found the Save As PDF option in Chrome. I had not dug that deep into the print options before now.

You could make other browsers capable of printing to a PDF file by installing a PDF conversion program/app.  For example, I have Foxit Reader installed; it is my PDF reader, in lieu of Adobe Reader.  In my Devices and Printers screen (in Control Panel), one of the "printers" is Foxit Reader PDF Printer.  If I issue a print command in a non-Chrome browser, I can select Foxit Reader PDF Printer and this sends to output to a PDF fill.  See attached image.  Or, you could install a PDF converter such as doPDF, and it will achieve the same result.

I do not know why you cannot view https://www.cnc-angola.com/ with Chrome.  I can.

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]Now my problem is not with the PDF printing.

The problem opening the website only happen on the two particular PCs in my office. All the other four PCs can open it with Chrome without any problem.

While I can just leave the issue unsolved and use IE/FF with converter to print the PDF, and stop using Chrome on that two PCs, but I'm still curious to know why the two PCs behave like this. There must be a reason which can be reversed. Maybe if someone can explain under what situation would a webpage behave like this, then we can track back the algorithm to find what is the setting or option involved, which is enabled/disabled on other PCs but disabled/enabled on these two PCs.  Just a suggestion which might not work: Go to Settings and click Hide Advanced Settings to display advanced settings.  At the BOTTOM of that screen, click Reset Browser Settings. Solve : Bookmarks in Firefox?

Answer»

How do I enter a bookmark in Firefox Bookmarks Menu of a text typed in WORD using Windows 8.1?

Many thanks.

JoeBookmarks can only be linked to a web page, not a word document stored on the PC.  If you did create the bookmark, when you clicked it - Firefox would treat it like you are DOWNLOADING the word document from a web page and ask you where you want to save it rather than opening it up directly.

If you give us some more background information about what you are trying to do we may be able to ASSIST more.Paste the word info into your address bar...load the page requested...then bookmark it.Is the OP wanting to bookmark a web site or a FILE on his computer?
You can open a local plain text ( .txt ) file in browsers. such as Firefox and Internet Explorer. Just drag it into the BROWSER and then add it to bookmarks/favorites
Word allows saving FILES as plain text with the .txt extension.Or you can save a Word document in html format with either of the extensions .htm or .html and again drag it into Firefox and then Bookmark This Page. This way preserves the appearance (fonts, etc).

Solve : Firefox - Download scanner?

Answer»

Ok, here is a strange one. I installed Firefox to my systems at home around version 25 and have been updating them ever since. It was my understanding that Firefox added a feature that scans all downloads for MALWARE etc.

Installed Firefox clean to a clean build today and when downloading files like dopdf7 to ADD to this clean build for pdf creation etc, I noticed that Firefox was not scanning the downloads.

I never installed any special addon for this download scanner ( browser antivirus feature ) on home systems. So did Firefox once make this a default feature around version 25 and then removed it from being a default feature with latest Firefox version.

All info on google doesnt clear this question up, although I do see that there are addons that can be added to add an antivirus to the browser.

When i get home from WORK I am going to check out my home systems to try to figure out what feature is turned on or addon added that I never added on my own to see if I can add that feature enabled to this clean build I worked on today.

I like how my home systems SCAN all downloads with firefox before being able to launch executables etc.Firefox has never had a built-in scanner.

On Windows it will use any installed and properly registered AV software to perform the scan. If no AV is installed then it will not scan.

Mozilla KB article.

Essentially Firefox uses an interface to call the AV program to perform the scan. Thanks for clarifying that BC

I looked at home computer and didn't see any special addons and so what you shared makes sense as to why i cant find it. I suppose thats also why a google search was coming up empty for this since Firefox doesn't have a built in scanner, although there are some addons. Most info can be found on google, and I guess my search terminology was off for what I was trying to find. Thanks for the KB link on this.

Solve : Is This The Trend??

Answer»

I have a question. It is about the trend I see toward those "tab/panel" thingys I see cropping up all over the place. I am talking the Windows disaster and now Opera, my favorite web browser. I don't like the Windows 8 desk top, I am using 7, and now Opera has done away with there bookmark access on the top toolbar. I don't mean the bookmarks toolbar, I can't stand that. I mean how the older versions had the word "bookmark" in the toolbar and you clicked on it (like Mozilla Firefox still has). I like the "speed dial" feature in Opera, it's easy to use but I put most of saved links in a folder, like say ummmmmmmmm bookmarks.
In the process of replacing Opera as my web browser, I like Firefox so far, I have noticed everything has the "speed dial/access" KIND of set-up. I know CHANGE happens and it looks like everything is going to be "touch screen" operated like a LOT of cell phones. I hope it's a long way off. My cell phone is still has a keyboard because I don't like touch screen.
So is this why things are changing so much?Yeah. They  are gong to just keep moving things around. It is a security feature to find out if you are still alive or if a robot is now on your computer. Quote from: sloan448 on March 26, 2014, 01:45:33 PM

and now Opera has done away with there bookmark access on the top toolbar.
Opera has used the "Button" on the top-left for some time now, and hasn't had a Menu bar either. I don't know how long ago though. It looks like Opera doesn't actually provide the option like Firefox does.

Quote

Firefox actually hasn't had a "Menu bar" for a long time. It is still possible by customization however; the default is to have a orange "Firefox" button in the top left, not unlike what Opera does.

I think Opera is trying a new strategy whereby 'Bookmarks' don't exist, replacing it instead with simply additional tabs. It makes some sense, the only downside being there is no way to search through bookmarks- on the other hand, if you have to search through bookmarks, it could be argued that you have too many.

I've only ever seen it in a few browsers. In fact, off the top of my head I only think Opera and Firefox do that; and Firefox can be customized. It doesn't look like Opera can be customized to show a Menu bar.

I know change happens and it looks like everything is going to be "touch screen" operated like a lot of cell phones. I hope it's a long way off. My cell phone is still has a keyboard because I don't like touch screen.
So is this why things are changing so much?
We're talking about a feature only currently within two browsers, one of which it can be disabled and changed in. I think the idea is mostly trying to go for something semantically equivalent to say the Ribbon while removing the Ribbon itself. USUALLY the justifications I hear for it are to "preserve screen space" by not showing a menu, but I think that is poor reasoning, because it puts those options one more click away. Eg. the "Firefox Button" is basically just the top level menu, you click it and see File,Edit,View, etc... It saves maybe 10-12 pixels of vertical space- and screens are a lot larger than they used to be, so why we need to "save space" more now with 1920x1080 screens than we did with 800x600 or 640x480 screens is beyond me.Or...keep your bookmarks organised as you go...works for me.If anyone wants a different browser, there are still lots of things that work.

Most of which use either IE, Firefox/Gecko, or Webkit as their rendering engine and JS engine, making them basically just IE/Firefox/Chrome with new Window chrome. (With the exception of Arachne).

Solve : Unable to print while using Firefox 28?

Answer»

Hi, I'm a newbie here, so please bear with me . . .

I got a new Dell desktop computer in February with Windows 7 Home Premium.  Works beautifully!  Loaded everything I wanted/needed without any problems, even set up a wireless connection to my Canon MX340 printer that was previously connected to my old computer by USB.  Worked great for a while, but since updating my Firefox browser to v28 mid March, whenever I go to print something from within Firefox, I get this error message:

"An error occurred while printing"

THAT'S IT!  THAT'S ALL IT SAYS!  I have been round and round with Mozilla and their "help", which has been no help at all.  I've updated the print drivers.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled both the printer AND Firefox.  No change.  I know that the problem is NOT the printer, as it prints perfectly from Internet Explorer and Chrome.  I don't know what to do anymore.  If anyone can help me with this, I'd be so grateful!

Thanks in advance!
  Print Issues in FireFox...Hi patio,

Thank you for your reply.  Unfortunately, I have already exhausted everything from this list, as this was the FIRST thing Mozilla sent when I contacted them for help.  None of those "fixes" solved my problem.

I appreciate your time!  Anytime...
It's possible ver 28 does have this issue...you can always REVERT BACK to the last build for now if that 1 worked for you.Hi again patio!

Thank you for your continued support on this!  I have actually installed two different previous versions of Firefox and tried to print, thinking that would do the trick, but I still could not print with either version.  I think I'm missing something here because I have another desktop computer RUNNING the same OS as my new computer (Windows 7 64-bit) and that one prints from Firefox without any problems!  Redo that checklist then...one of your print settings in FFox is wrong it appears....The only thing that checklist says to do in reference to print settings is to "reset" the print.printer one, which I've already done.  It also says to completely reset Firefox, which I've already done, and last it says to try to print in Safe Mode, which, you guessed it - I've already done.  I've even gone so far as removing Firefox COMPLETELY (I mean anything and everything Mozilla) and installing a fresh copy.  Still, I get that same dreaded error message.  Is the printer showing up properly in Device Manager ? ?
Any Yellow !!'s ? ?Yes, the printer shows it's online and ready.  No yellow "!"'sHmmm...this is a stumper...re-set the router yet ? ?
WORTH a try...I know, right!?  Now I'm updating the drives that Dell says I need...  It's gonna be awhile, so I'll post again when it's through.  Thank you so much!!!!

Solve : Saved passwords query?

Answer»

Is there any way to edit the site NAME in the saved passwords window?  I've RECENTLY changed some passwords and some site are not readily identifiable.  Advice appreciated. We NEED to know what BROWSER you are using.  Also, PLEASE clarify or elaborate on what you mean by "some site are not readily identifiable". Hi - Thanks for interest soybean.  I should have said - Firefox is my browser.  In the site column of the passwords window what seems to be the full internet address is listed mostly, though sometimes it's "my screen name" or, as with Microsoft/Outlook (Hotmail as was), just "login.live.com". I know it's a minor irritation, but I thought if the text could be edited a simple identity label could be inserted for each of the passwords.

Solve : Firefox & Greyed out option that I'd like to use?

Answer»

So I am logged onto a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit computer as Administrator and a check box is greyed out in Firefox, and I cant tell Firefox to always open FILE Maker Pro 5.5 files (.FP5) with FileMaker Pro 5.5

Anyone know how to fix this?

Below is part of a screenshot as to what I am seeing for a problem.

Basically an explanation of what I am doing, is that I made a simple HTML page that acts as a navigation interface which has hyperlinks to .lnk shortcuts that allow for a launch condition for FileMaker Pro 5.5 database files on the NAS which is at Z:, and while this works well, I would like to select this checkbox so that file type association is set in stone for the program to handle these files.

I also attached the HTML source too in a txt file if anyone wants to look it over to see what I am doing. Its pretty simple, and I have basically a web page that opens a bitmap and the bit map has coordinates mapped to hyperlinks making it a navigational interface.

This by the way is a band aid for troubles with FileMaker Pro 5.5 in which the designer feature for user interface is locked and an employee is gone and I havent been able to crack the password yet for being able to change the design, but we can still continue to use it functionally for adding or looking up info in the database. If anyone knows of any tricks on how to regain admin control of a locked FileMaker Pro 5.5 that may also be beneficial. But as for now, the quick fix was this HTML solution.

At some point MAYBE we can sever our need for FileMaker Pro 5.5, but for now its what we have and over 15 years of data bound to it. So I am going to have to look at an alternative at some point and a data export to something else. It would be NICE to get it into mySQL or something like that which I can code up a nice PHP interface for ETC.

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]Did you go into Tools>Options>Applications. Scroll down to Film Maker. Use drop down at Film Maker and choose " always ask"

Solve : IE 11 won't open HTTPS sites?

Answer»

I have a computer on a domained network, RUNNING Windows 7 Pro, IE 11.  When I try to open HTTPS sites, it says to CHECK the web address.  I can log onto the domain on the same computer as the administrator and the same HTTPS sites open correctly.  I thought it may be an issue with the user profile so I unjoined the domain, rejoined the domain, rebuilt the user profile, and same thing.  I removed AV and turned off firewall to see if this made any difference, it didn't.  Any ideas as to what could be CAUSING this?Check the time and date on the computer in question. Try using compatibility MODE in IE for those websites.

Solve : How To Erase Safari History Completely??

Answer»

Hey, how are you.
I am one of those people who doesn't like others seeing my tracks in browsing. But I would not like my friends seeing what I'm doing and some of my friends are PRETTY computer-savvy. I wonder if I just click on 'CLEAR history' or 'reset safari' within Safari will erase(overwrite) all tracks of browsing? I unsure of it.
Maybe there's a location where the internet cookies, history, tracks etc are stored and I can overwrite them with a file shredder?
Thanks for any help,
WhitebeardTo delete your history simply click on "History" in the toolbar up the top of your screen while Safari is selected, then go to the bottom and click "Clear History".

If you want to delete google searches so they won't appear if you type in part of the word(s) that you searched earlier, go to "Safari" in the toolbar up the top of your screen while Safari is selected, then go to "Reset Safari". Select what you want to clear and click "Reset". It's as SIMPLE as that

http://support.apple.com/kb/ph11911Hello, thank you for the reply. Like I said, my friends are pretty good with computers. I realized that if I just click on 'clear history' or 'reset safari' in safari, you can still see the SITES I've visited via flash cookies. For example, on my MAC, if you go to library>prefs>macromedia, you can still see the sites visited. I'm sure there are  many other ways to find out the sites visited?
I kind of want to make it completely erased so that no-one can ever find out. I know that erasing something so it's gone FOREVER is not easy, but is there a more secure way than just clicking 'clear history'?
Thanks.Plain and simple...don't allow access to your PC since your friends obviously cannot be trusted...I suggest you try CCleaner's Cleaner tool.  For info and downloading, go *here*.  I suggest you read all the info there and view the video.  Then, you'll be better prepared to effectively use CCleaner.

Solve : SOLVED I/E not opening after 8.1.1 Update?

Answer»

In my case the problem was Malware Bytes anti exploit version 9.5.1000. I have now UPDATED to 10.3.0100  ( See link below ) and after a couple of frustrating WEEKS trying to rectify the problem, it   has now been   solved. I/E back and WORKING, LATEST security fix applied and ready to go.  Having said that my MAIN browser is still Google Chrome. Never have a problem with it.

Solve : i/e not responding.?

Answer»

understoodThanks Patio and Allan, for sticking up for me. We know you can't uninstall I/E. I have TRIED turning it  it off to try and repair it but it doesn't help.I think Ivanoe is a LITTLE CONFUSED over this issue. It sure is a mystery, to me anyway but I await the monthly Windows updates to SEE if they have a fix for it. As I have said, I use Chrome and Firefox so I am not overly concerned and I believe I/E has been having pretty serious security issues lately.
Cheers. Barry. Thanks to all of you and apologies for my slip up on the name,  i appreciate all the help i get when i come on this site.
i seem to have lost I.E altogether now so i am not putting it back on .i have got Firefox on but i need another. then i should be OK.
once again THANKS.Hello ivanoe.
My I/E problem has been solved. Check out my latest post and see if it relates to you. My problem was Malware Bytes anti Exploit and if you have that you have to update to the latest version.
Good luck.
