using firefox. download pauses when display off. no sleep mode. how to fix? recently use a websites proxy server, 2 of them.Why aren't you downloading directly?  Through someone else's proxy?

Firefox could care less if the monitor is on or off. I have SHUT off my display when downloading a large linux distro before bed for example and when I WAKE up 7 hrs later its download has completed.

The only way I can see the download pausing is of this is one of those COMPUTERS that is an all in one  COMPUTER is part of the display and the system has a hibernation when power button to display is pressed so it goes to sleep and then when turned on it comes out of this hibernation.  You already have a TOPIC started on this issue...Refer to there for replies.

I'm using FF 29.1 and am having a problem.  When I close FF and want to open it later again about 75% of the time I'll get an ERROR message.  I have enclosed a JPEG of it below.  I then have to open Task Manager and END the PROCESS by hand.  FF will then open properly.  I started having this problem before updating to V29.  I use Win 7.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.  It's driving me crazy.

I do like the new sync. It's done through your Mozilla/Firefox account rather than the PITA Sync Add-on. If you were using the old sync on your mobile browser you have to remove it in the settings and then sign in to the new sync in the mobile browser settings. QUOTE

So when that heart virus was going around I THOUGHT it would be a good idea to change some of my passwords. After doing that I cleared all my cookies and history without thinking about writing down my password. Since yahoo does not save passwords and there call service is run by one dude that is blazed out of his mind I am unable to RECOVER my password. Also the phone number on the account is deactivated and the SECONDARY email address does not exist anymore. Is there ANY way for me to get around this easier. I currently have some important information saved on the account regarding my job as well as some other emails. I have a Gmail account but that was not linked to my yahoo. Even my Droid logged me out of the account after not accessing it for more than a week. Any help would be greatly appreciated.If you properly documented your security info when setting up the e-mail to begin with, you should be able to select that you forgot your password. It then will either send info to a mobile device that was registered with this acct or to another e-mail acct that you would normally have access to.

From my experience going through this, I had it registered to send a link to another e-mail account. I did that and was able to follow the link and answer 2 security questions, and then I was able to force change the password.

Without the mobile or alt e-mail you have to wait on say a 45 MINUTE hold until answered. * Had to go this route before too with a yahoo e-mail once.

They then ask you info and you have to answer security questions. Upon successful COMPLETION of answering questions they will grant a password change.

Last option I have heard with other account providers is that you have to scan a drivers license and send this info to them to verify its you, and then they may grant a password change. This only works if the name registered to the e-mail is the name on the license. They also look to see the location it is registered to to match that up with drivers license as well.

If thats not an option then you pretty much need to create a whole new e-mail account and get a note book and write down all info such as password as well as security reset info.I always make sure I write down my passwords for this very reason. I've never been in a situation quite like yours but I keep a list for my own sanity and comfort of knowing I can access my accounts when I need to.

When you get you are finally able to log in, make sure to at least write another email account where they can send you your password if this happens again.

Your system date is set wrongly.  Due to the recent "heartbleed" issue you may have heard about companies have had to replace their "SSL CERTIFICATES".  These certificates have a pair of DATES that they are valid between which your system is outside of.

This issue should go away if you set your system's clock to the correct date and time.

Avast is making a pitch for a DOWNLOAD that will take care of Gameover and Cryptolocker.  Are these a SERIOUS THREAT or is this a come on?  I use Avast free and thought they were very RELIABLE.  However this does not sound just right to me. Chrome loads fours screens when I start it. Somehow I got it to stop, bu now it does it again. A SCAN with Malware Bytes shows NOTING .

When I try to access Google Chrome on my laptop, I get the following error CODE: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET. I am TYPING this on my other COMPUTER, not my laptop, so the internet is only not working on my laptop. I'm assuming it has SOMETHING to do with DNS but I honestly don't even know what that is or where to even start with trying to fix this issue. Yes, I have tried messing around with my router and that did NOTHING. Any help?

I installed firefox 29 and I NOTICED that if you just have a blank window open it is still tranfering information if you close firefox then it stops and I have update turned off any reason why this is?

JohnI'd run wireshark and look at the traffic to see what is downloading or uploading. With this info you can then tackle the PROBLEM, whether its an updater or malware related spyware etc.

You will want to do this with no other computers connected to network otherwise you will see a MESS of traffic. You want to only see traffic to and from your computer in question. If it doesnt state the origin or destination clearly, you can perform IP look ups through google and see who owns the IP that is COMMUNICATING. You then have a direction to go with this.

I have had to use this method before to track down a network leak. I had Pando Media Booster slipped in with a free game and my system was acting as a Seed to allow others on the web to get updates through my system. I killed the seed service since I dont LIKE network leaks. The game still works with the seed service disabled.

By the way, Firefox 30.0 is out now so it may be the update to 30 that is downloading in the background. Even with update turned off I have had instances where firefox still downloads the update but just doesnt auto apply it.

Yes, you need to contact your ISP company.
This topic is quite common on this forum. In most cases the only SOLUTION is to contact the ISP. They are best able to supply you with diagnostic tools specific to the modem and router that you're using. Of course, you can always use one of the speed test programs that are AVAILABLE on the Internet. But these programs do not tell you why your experience varies from day to day or even from 1 min. to the next.

To put it quite bluntly, many service providers are not telling the truth about their performance. The truth is, the performance is quite a bit below what they advertise. One would expect that the service should be providing good, reliable communication. 99% of the time. That is what we expect of our home appliances, our automobiles, our electric service, and even the garbage pickup.

Some  Internet service providers are consistently below a reasonable standard of quality and integrity. And no, I am not making this up. And it's not because I'm irritated. But I am irritated. I went through this with my ISP told I think they started to get tired of me, and finally they put a real-time monitor on my service selected find out what was going wrong. That seemed to help a little bit.

But my personal experience is not what matters. Both on this forum and other places, PEOPLE are reporting the quality of service of Internet providers is very below reasonable expectations. I have a vizio tv and the manual is somewhat confusing, for me, when instructing on how to connect to the internet. It says you will use the HDMI for this task but when I did this nothing worked. I found an instruction video and it said to use Ethernet cab6 and attach to tv and router. I am wondering if I can use the wireless router I have for this? or do I need to purchase another router for wired connection? I do not want to go wireless.Presently TV sets do not connect directly to the Intranet. But that is changeling. Soon TV  sets will come with built-in connections. But not yet.
Presently people tie the TV to the Internet with another device. XBOX is one example.

I've been having this ISSUE for awhile now where my internet will cut out when downloading large files. Small ones are fine, but for instance, I just loaded up Steam and a game had to do a large update, and my internet cut out. It will continue cutting out on and off until I pause or stop the download, which is what I had to do.

I usually forget about this problem until I load up Steam, because I don't do many large downloads. I don't THINK it's just a Steam issue, because it's happened with a regular, large download before. However I can run uTorrent and be fine, so I'm not sure.

A few weeks ago I contacted my ISP and she confirmed that my internet was disconnecting, but the 2 fixes she suggested (resetting the router, and unscrewing then screwing the cables back in) didn't fix the issue - apparently. It's a HARD thing to test for because I can't just be downloading large files to test it. And not everything seems to trigger the issue? I'm not sure.

Any idea what could be causing this? I hope it's a small fix. I'm using Windows 8.1 64bit, but this problem happened when I used Windows 8 too.

I've uploaded almost 100 videos on my Video Channel, which I made UNLISTED. On all but 3 there's a menu of other videos that are NOT related to my channel AT ALL, and every time I click on the link to anyone of these 3 videos this STINKING menu covers at least the entire right 1/3 of my video. I've gone to Channel/Advanced (and checked all other Channel features) to block any ads appearing on my channel, but that doesn't help. This stupid menu pops up on all of my other videos, but for some reason, on those it appears BEHIND the video. That's annoying enough, but this is ridiculous

I'm sending the links to these videos to VERY IMPORTANT clients that I only GET 1 shot at, and Google is SCREWING me in the pooch!

As for the service known as YouTube, did you sign some kind of agreement with him stipulating that your videos can only be presented in a specified context? Perhaps not. Instead, you made an agreement that they could do with a one with your videos.
Now, if you are a commercial entity, and you wish to use YouTube for marketing your product, you need to contact them and let them know you want a commercial arrangement. If that is not to your liking, there are alternatives for people that want to present their Cherry Hill without advertisement from competitors.

I was having trouble with IE 11 working WRONG with some of my company sites that I work with.  I uninstalled the update thinking it would put me back to the browser version I had before.  It did not, nor can I find it on my computer.  I would like to go back to 9 but of course everywhere I go wants to GIVE me the most up to date-which is 11.  Can one of you please send me a link to download IE Explorer 9?  Thank youCan you use a system restore point to revert back to before your system took the IE11 upgrade from 9 or 10?

Other option is try a different browser such as Firefox and see if your company sites work ok with the latest Firefox which is better than Internet Explorer.

It may have to do with some IE11 addons....have you tried dis-abling them 1 by 1 to find the culprit ? ?I would not know what system restore point to go too.  No, many of my company partners only use IE and other browsers will not work for what I need to do.

I already uninstalled IE 11 because one of my companies said they have trouble with it.

I have a small network consisting of a server and 2 workstations. Everything was working fine, and then beginning on Friday, when we TRY to access google.com it gives an error message that says, "404 error PAGE cannot be found.  the requested url /cgi-bin/redirect.ha was not found on this server.  that's all we know"  The only change that has been made is on late Thursday afternoon a NEW Motorola NVG510 Att Uverse modem was installed.  The previous one had stopped working.  I ran MBAM, Spybot, and ComboFix on both computers and nothing was detected by MBAM or Spybot.  ComboFix did not make any changes to either system.  Any IDEAS as to how to fix this problem?  All other web pages seem to open correctly.

I started having a problem in Opera today (Opera 12.?). And no I'm not going to get an updated version. Opera was ding FINE, I don't know if this has to do with the computer being on when the POWER went out in a storm last night but I doubt it. Now that the power is back on and I can use my computer Opera doesn't remember where i was on a page when i go back. When I scroll down a page and click a LINK when i go back it puts me at the top of the page so i then have to scroll back down to where i was. This has happened before but it's been a long time. Is there some where in Settings, like "Preferences", where I can take care of this problem?


Did you try to LOOK at your history and click at the page that you last visited, or check your cookies setting.
On the other hand, if your highlighted BUTTON is on Keep local data only until I quit my browser. All your visited page will erase and no longer remember by your opera when you open it again.

I have Windows 7  64 bits.  Since I got my computer I have used Internet Explorer as my browser. I have been told that Internet Explorer has a problem and that I should use another browser.  TWO questions.  First which browser would be best for me?  I only use the computer for small stuff - e-mail, solitare, jigsaw puzzles, etc.  Second how do I change browsers?  Keep in mind that I am not smart with computers.     BobA browser is a very personal thing that people seem to get very defensive about.  There is no "best browser" it all just comes down to what you prefer.  Sure Internet Explorer may not be as fast as other browsers in direct comparisons but it is by no means a bad browser.  If you are happy with Internet Explorer then then there is no need to change it.

If you really do want to change browsers are free so there is no problem just trying a few to see what you prefer and then sticking with that.  I would suggest trying Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox first of all and see how you get on with them.

To change browser it is just a case of downloading and installing it like you would with any other program.  When you open it it will probably ask to be your "default browser", you can just agree to this to make the new browser open when you click links in other programs.camerongray -

I have a Windows XP 32bit w/IE 8. Going on the web I almost always get "invalid procedure call or argument" ,code 0 LINE 5 char 13. Reason why i ask is because I found this app that was a good color selection for HTML that gave you the Hex to have this color in your html, and at the end of the install it INSTALLED a service that wants to run at start in the tray.... an application like this to want to run a service all the TIME seems very very fishy since to me I dont see a need for any service to be running to display a color palette make a selection and see the hex in a box below.  Chrome is not as DILIGENT in their app reviews as APPLE or MS it APPEARS...

I have a question but I am not sure if this is the right forum.

I USUALLY watch a lot of Youtube videos and most of these are educational videos/lectures. I usually find the regular speed slow and watch the videos at 1.5X speed which helps me learn more efficiently.

However, the only thing that I have to do EVERYTIME is that for every video, I need to GO and change the speed setting manually to 1.5X.

Is there any way to do the same automatically  for every video I watch ? Any plugins etc. for this ? Curious as to how you are able to change the playback speed through youtube flash? I see no options for changing the speed when right-clicking and looking at options.

The only way to change the speed that I know of is if you played the downloaded video through ANOTHER player such as VLC.

I cannot OPEN Google Chrome at all after performing a System Restore. If I CLICK on the icon on the Task Bar it HIGHLIGHTS like the program is opening but then FADES out. Nothing happens from clicking on the desktop icon or in the Start Menu. Task Manager Processed Tab does not show anything related to Chrome running.Install Google Chrome again.

I recently started USING SAFARI because chrome used too much cpu, and I immediately started getting a popup screen saying "webkit2webproccess has stopped working". It gives 2 options, first is to let windows SEARCH for a solution and then close the PROGRAM, or close the program. This is really annoying, it resets all website data and reloads all the websites when it's closed, is there any way to stop this.

Also, safari automatically logs me out of every website, took me 4 tries before I could actually post this because it kept logging me out

I cannot access my University's Gmail account through my home computer when I am using Google Chrome. I get a page from Google Accounts asking to sync my Gmail to ANOTHER account. CLICKING "Not Now" on that page gives me an error saying that "You must sync this account to other Google Services to continue using it as before." Even though I have a Google Account, I USE it for YouTube and other LEISURE purposes and do not want it synced with college and work related items. Do I need to do anything in Chrome or should I go to my college's IT department and ask them for assistance?Try a different browser...what happens ? ?

First thing to say is my knowledge of computing is limited!!

I have heard of TOR and wondered if it had any benefit in regards to online banking and security generally as I currently won't use online banking because of security issues - real or imaginery.

Although it claims to provide anonymous internet ACCESS I assume your ISP would know what sites you visit and that would be a security risk and also the bank would have to identify you wouldn't it?

I have read up about it from the help page on here but in truth I am as confused as ever.

By the way, I wouldn't use TOR for online banking, or credit card transactions.

You should be able to find a FAIR bit of information why TOR isn't so secure for such activities.

But you not trusting your ISP is a bigger problem.

I think I have misled you inadvertently I have no problem with my ISP at all what I meant to say was if your ISP know you are logging on to a bank site isn't that a security risk as a virus would also see who you are - not that I'm claiming the ISP is guilty of anything.

I'm probably not really explaining myself very well mainly because of lack of understanding on my part but hope that clarifies what I meant?   

Having read a bit about TOR - much of which i found confusing - I still don't get how you can be anonymous. 

If you don't recommend using my credit card with TOR or for online banking I'll give it a miss!!

 My view is that an ISP is going to have top notch security in place and so should you.  So if you and your ISP are keeping yourselves protected then there should be no problem using your own work station for such things as online banking and credit card stuff, etc.

Quite frankly, the TOR project is meant to mask your IP address and I suspect your bank might even have security that will pick up on any masking and that will set off alarm bells with their security software.

But it will be interesting to read what other folks here think about this.

What ToR does is route your internet traffic through a network of random computers all over the internet to make it harder to trace your actions back to yourself.  It is commonly used for nefarious PURPOSES or by people who want the illusion of privacy.

Your connection to your bank is almost always (unless we are talking about a totally incompetent bank) going to use SSL encryption (https://) -  This means that your data is encrypted end to end, from when it leaves your PC to when it reaches the bank's computers - Your ISP cannot read this data, all they can see is that you are sending encrypted data to the bank.  With online banking, your account is extremely unlikely to be compromised over the network, if anything you would have your login details collected if you had a virus on your computer.

If I'm honest, using ToR for "privacy" or "security" is a bit silly, all it does is first of all route traffic through random people's computers (which IMO could actually make your data less secure), it has already been seen that some nodes on the ToR network have either been compromised or are run by the NSA.  And in the end, if you are trying to stay away from any sort of surveillance, using ToR shows that you are possibly up to no good.

Michael also makes a very interesting POINT, Bank's websites are often built to lock accounts that are suspected to be under attack, if you connect using ToR and are therefore detected as connecting from different countries all around the world, this could well be enough to lock you out.Hi, guys

I have a FREE anti virus package (Avast) which so far appears to keep me protected and as has been said both my ISP
and bank should have something better in place as well.

Don't know if the paid for packages are significantly better but so far so good.

Chrome will not open internet and says a program has caused chrome to close, you can click close window but this does nothing but pop up a message, WHOA! chrome has crashed, restart chrome? I have tried uninstalling chrome and re-installing it SEVERAL times ALSO checked my crash report and deleted those? Not a computer expert just rying to get GOOGLE chrome back working because it works pretty well on my computer?

Today I was mucking around in html 5 and I decide to add the a video... But it didn't work. So I went into the CODE and nothing was wrong. I went in to chrome and it works. I opened the F12 dev menu and looked through it. I found out that for some reason it is STUCK on showing the document mode as IE 7. When I change it to edge or 10 the video pops up in the BACKGROUND. But when I close the dev menu it reverts back to IE 7. I do not know why.

I`m using Opera version 25 stable with Windows 8.1 on desktop and just want to peronalize and cosumize some panels, toolbars and especialy to put bookmar bar one level high. I did it fine this in Firefox a few days ago but in Opera absolutly nowere see options for customizing toolbars...

In older VERSIONS of Opera when you do right click on the toolbar on the top have one option -customize but in Opera 25 nothing like that. Its important for me because i use only Opera. Even i write this question to Opera support but im sure they will not answer to me.

Opera has been going through a lot of changes in the last year or longer, especially after version 12, and I think they have a lot of unhappy users as a result.  The video you posted was uploaded to youtube.com in June 2010, so it's simply out-of-date. 

I was using Opera for quite awhile until they released some major changes after version 12.  I've since drifted away from it.  I think you might NEED to wait and see whether they restore the customization CAPABILITY you want in future releases, and I suspect they will be doing so because they've been getting a lot of complaints from long-time users.  You might also visit http://forums.opera.com/ often to keep informed on what's happening with Opera.

I've been unable to delete Astromedia off my Chrome BROWSER over a
month.  I re-set SEVERAL TIMES with no success.

 how can I fix this.Why try to fix it?  Just USE Chrome for those sites where it works best for you. To add to what I said in my previous post, I also encounter sites that IE will not properly display and I find Chrome USUALLY will RENDER the sites correctly. I've always been visiting frequently with no problems. But now whenever I try to visit anything under the domain, I get the error code ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED on Chrome. I run Windows 7, and the problem occurs with every major browser including Chrome, Firefox, and IE. Only this laptop of mine seems to have this problem as works just fine on my mobile device and on other computers. As far as I know, this only happens with this website. Help would be highly appreciated!

BrianWith the details you provide, thee would be two reasons.
1. You did something to annoy the website and they have blocked your computer from the forum.
2.  Somebody in your house has pulled a prank on you and has placed a redirect in your settings.

Most likely you did something wrong that give them reason to block your computer from accessing in their forum.I don't think that I did anything wrong - I've never even received an infraction. PLUS, they don't block computers from accessing their forum, and if they did want to block me, they would block my account. I even contacted the administrators there about it, and no, they did not block me. Also, no, NOBODY is redirecting me because other computers on my network can access this website just fine. My point is, is there something that I may have done to my computer, such that I am now unable to access it.Here is as an article you may want to read. It is about the Hosts file. The Hosts file is used to redirect specific web sires. Often this is done by a supervisor to prevent employees from wasting time on game sites. But it can also be used by parents, schools and any organizations to restrict use of forbidden sites.

If you think that may apply to you, came bask with your questions and somebody will help you. I just checked my host file, and the only thing I am redirecting is 127.0.0.1 for web development purposes. I just removed that line and tried again just in CASE, but the website still doesn't work. This is my home laptop too, so nobody else has any access to it whatsoever.OK, very strange. About the only other thing would be the firewall. But I have never herd of that kind of thing with the Microsoft firewall.

Does that help any?  Sorry for the late RESPONSE, I've been really busy this past week. The firewall settings doesn't seem to make a difference though. Plus, I haven't changed my firewall settings lately, so I don't think that is causing a problem.

A few weeks ago I worked with Super Dave and removed a number of infected files.

I was very pleased with the results and think my antivirus PROGRAM is now working well.

Yesterday after sleeeping overnight the computer showed; Explorer can't display this page.

I checked the SETTINGS in Explorer and they seemed as they should be. My connection to the net was OK.

I looked through my notes and found an old ENTRY where I had recovered from a similar situiation with a 'clean boot'.

By going to 'msconfig' and hideing and disableing all MICROSOFT services my computer seemed to RECOVER. I felt good.

After being asleep for a few hours the machine seemed to have reverted to it's former, can't display state. In short:

I had to go through the clean boot again to get on the net...

Any thoughts as to what's going on?

Firefox 34 doers something I do not like. So Install 28 and got it back the way I like it. But just now it reverted back to VERSION 324. Why am I being force to use a version I do not like?
Specifically, the search bar no longer  makes it easy to change engines. I want it the way it was. Like it used to be.   
Automatic update must have been enabled. Turn of these setting : (Tools > options > Advanced > update)I'm on FireFox 35 and can easily change the search engine, try upgrading.The web BROWSER is one of the most important applications to keep updated.  There are constantly different flaws found in browsers that the updates patch, it is not just about the user interface.

Changing search engines in Firefox 34 seems easy enough to me, I can't actually see any difference to how it used to be, it's just a drop down to the left of the search box.For Cosme reason it does not work right for me in version 34.
Just found that version 33.1 worlds the way I want.

Hello.  I'm hoping to get some help with this problem I'm having with my DELL Inspiron 1520. I have searched for an answer but nothing so far.
I log into my computer and OPEN IE and I get 'Cannot Connect to the Proxy Server'.  (I do not want to connect to the Proxy Server)  I go into 'tools' then 'Internet Options' 'Connections' then 'LAN Settings' and uncheck the check mark from "Use a Proxy Server for your LAN'  I select close and then apply.
That helps for the moment but when I log into my computer the next time the same thing happens over and over again.  What else can I do to permanently correct this issue?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  (running Windows 7 and not sure which version of IE)Try creating a new user account for this computer and using that user account. Does this fix the issue for that new account where no proxy settings are happening?

 If so, you can move your data from my documents etc from one profile to the other, and continue to use this computer with the new account instead of the old account.

It might be as simple as using a new profile. Have you had to clean out any infections prior to this in which remnants of the infection may still be there? You're infected...what protection apps do you have and whens the last time you ran them ? ?patio, I was thinking my computer is infected but I have McAfee and it says I don't have a virus and I just ran it yesterday.  What other protection apps do you have ? ?

Re-boot after it finishes...Hi.  Ok, I ran Malwarebytes and rebooted the computer.  Logged back in to IE and I still have the same problem.

I did run McAfee again and it came up with Adware-RocketTab and Adware-BProtect.  My computer wouldn't delete it.  What do I do now?

I have had a problem with BLURRY BROWSER text for as long as I can remember, but recently I upgraded my video card from AMD Radeon 6800 to a Nvidia GTX 660 and now my text is extremely blurry (almost to the point that it seems as if its moving). I currently do have my monitor set to the appropriate resolution which is 1440x900 (pretty sucky I know). and I have my monitor CONNECTED to my graphics card using a DVI to VGA.


Update: Also it is WORTH mentioning that my text is also blurry when I use programs like notepad I'm not too sure if its the entire monitor or just my browser. I can't tell when I'm gaming because its just very hard to tell  A) TRY another monitor...
B) Try another DVI cable...I switched from DVI cables to HDMI and now it works!

Every TIME I click on a hyperlink for Sears using any search engine, it will not connect.  I keep getting a message in small letters at the top, left side of the screen:  rejected
This PROBLEM has been going on for months and Sears is the only website that I've ever had this problem with.  I hit the 'refresh" and I keep getting the 'rejected' message.  Even if I type:  www.sears.com      and hit Enter, it will give me the same 'rejected' message.  I live 35 miles from the nearest Sears so this is very annoying when I can't see what they have on sale any given week.
Has any one else had this problem with Sears or any other website they've tried to connect to?The SITE works fine here...you may have to CONTACT your ISP...

I thought I saved a password for a website in IE (11?) but when I went to log on to that page the password wasn't there. I couldn't figure out how make it appear since it's supposed to be saved.

By default Firefox does not record login info for windows live mail.  But a bookmarklet (http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html#remember_password) strips the necessary attributes from the login page and enables Firefox to memorize the login info.  Version 1.5.0.7 then fills out the login FORM on subsequent visits, but 2.0 rc1 does not, even though the password manager lists the user name and password.

I have to print pages from the browser window, these pages have links, that I need to be clickable/live when I print the pages. I print as a PDF document. once it creates the pages as a PDF document the links don't work. Works in all browsers except Firefox. can anyone help.I have not been using Firefox for awhile, so I may not have a solution.  But, can you TELL us exactly what happens when you print from your browsers?  When you start a print command from the browser, does a Print command box open with choices of printer?  Does this, i.e. the choices, differ with Firefox, as COMPARED to other browsers?  yes, I hit PRINT, goes to PRINT PREVIEW, and then PRINT again, then shows printer choices, I choose ADOBE PROFESSIONAL then it saves it as a PDF but the links don't work.When you choose Adobe it simply saves the page as a converted PDF...you then have to find the file...rite clik it and print it.A COUPLE of things. Or maybe three.

Hi everyone. I ended up resetting my Firefox to fix a problem (then unistalling and reinstalling), as well as removed my anti-virus problem. After I solved the initial problem, I had loads of viruses, malware and TROJANS. I used malwarebytes and Norton to take care of those problems.

However, my Firefox has never been the same. The typing and scrolling is jerky, the videos don't play without stuttering (yet Youtube videos play fine on it). I have tried resetting, about:config settings, changing hardware format. Disabled my add ons, enabled my add-ons. Nothing is working.

Anybody have ANY advice??Do you have another working computer. Another computer could verify that it is not the Internet connection.
You are using XP. That puts you at a disadvantage. Is you connection wireless or Ethernet ? In some cases XP does not do well with wireless.

Are you familiar with Linux Live CDs? Such distros can boot and run without need to USE hard drive space. They help diagnose hardware and software problems. If the browser works good with Linux, it may mean that Windows is having trouble. But it the problems are there even in Linux, it would means the hardware is failing.

Everything is fine using Chrome and everything ELSE with my computer works fine. It seems to be just Firefox that I'm getting these problems and it was always working fine before this incident.OK. So it was only the browser.

Think about it.Have you considered running adwcleaner so as to remove certain addons/toolbars INSTEAD of disabling them? http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/In Firefox you can remove add-ons  and plug-ins you do not want.
Aldo you can download a earlier version of Firefox to SEE if that helps.
