I do research for a living and visit a lot of websites a day. I noticed that a significant amount of my data gets wasted when I access websites and VIDEOS autoplay without my permission.

Is there anyway that I can stop these videos from playing?

For Google Chrome, one option is to go to the online Chrome Web Store and search for the free Disable HTML5 Autoplay EXTENSION. I have a Windows 7 laptop that I am trying to access a Wifiranger skypro Core router in.  It is very straightforward to follow the directions but INSTEAD of the nice control panel showing, for me to work in, I get the attached screen.

I have tried the following;

Tried ACCESSING on all 3 browers-Firefox, IE and Chrome
Clearing cookies, and cache

I tried accessing control panel from my Iphone in safari, and it worked fine.  Their tech people have not been able to figure it out, or help me.  They say it should work in Chrome or IE. 

Can someone please give me some suggestions?

The manual seems to imply that you have to have an Internet connection to get the control panel to work.

Wifi Ranger Skypro pack.  What it does is it sees wireless routers out there to connect too.  The internet that you get once connected is by choosing on of those.
It is a setting in my browser that must be blocking it somehow from fully loading
THANKS.It is so bizarre that I can get it to work on my iPhone, and my iPad just fine but neither of my windows 7 laptops will show the control panel for the Wifi Ranger like it should.  They both show me what I uploaded in my first post.

I even tried downloading safari on here and trying it.  Nope.
I tried with my Microsoft essentials anti virus turned off.  Nope
Even turned the firewall off.  Nope

Very strange.  Hope there is someone out there that has the magic to help figure this out.  if it works on your iPhone, maybe try Safari for the PC (if you can still get it).
also, CHECK you aren't using any extensions, like ad BLOCKERS, in those browsers that may interfere.
perhaps start one of those browsers in safe mode, for example, firefox -safe-mode or hold down the Shift key when doubling click the firefox icon.I did downloaded Safari on here before retiring last night.  It did not work.
I tried opening Firefox as suggested in safe mode.  Nope.
Made sure that Adblocker is off.  Nope

Really strange that it works on my Iphone, and Ipad but not on my laptops.

I did as you suggested and it worked!  While I was in safe mode I deleted the Adfender software.  I also deleted Malwarebytes but I don't think it was that, I bet it was the Adfender program!    Not an extension in the browser, but the software I had on here.  I'd tried turning it off but that did not allow it to work.  I wonder why.

I also added the IP address of the device to the safe sites, just in case.
Thanks for the suggestion.  The devices tech department have not even suggested anything usable.  Never heard of Adfender...it's likely a good thing you got rid of it...

Running Win 10 with Chrome browser Version 67.0.3396.87 (Official BUILD) (64-bit). Cannot view You Tube videos due to their Flash Content. Every tutorial I've watched, ( or read ), is over-simplified, and does not work! I have gone into Chrome's advanced SETTINGS, added https://www.youtube.com/ to the allow flash content AREA. I've even disabled my HARDWARE acceleration. Everything I've been told, or read about. Nothing works. So, I no longer have Chrome designated as my default browser, because I cannot watch You Tube videos. Graeme /> at the end of a tag indicates that it is not "opening" a tag. It's something that was breought in from XML to help STANDARDIZE the HTML markup. Otherwise, anything interpreting the HTML needs to know which tags can have contents and which cannot.

There is nothing useful that can be put "inside" a tag- you only want to set attributes on the tag itself, so the tag ends with /> as shorthand for . Lisam95 There is no clear "Best" browser.  Which browser a person uses is more or less chosen via preference.  My personal preference is FireFox.What he said ^^^I've also stuck with FF for many years - it's the only one that does EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED, a one-stop-shop if you like.
I occasionally GIVE others a spin, just to keep up with what's out there, recently gave SlimJet and Opera a month usage, but have always come back to FF.Firefox is best AMONG them. Also, use opera mini.

I have a Geek App 2.0 on my Smart Phone and it brought to my attention that Chrome now has the ability to cache websites for offline VIEWING; ( mainly intended for locations in the world where internet access is few and far between ), where you go to the sites from an internet connection on a  android device with Chrome and then you can DOWNLOAD them to cache of the browser to be able to view them again from an area where there is no internet access. This is really cool as for I only have internet on my phone when I connect to an open wifi because I save my 160MB data plan for emergency USE only when connecting to 3G network. I have a Tracfone that costs me just $19.99 every 90 days and my LG16C Phone with its 1.2Ghz Snapdragon Dual-core Arm processor is plenty for what I do.

I know my OS is old. But it works fine on my old computer. Went to install and try WaterFox last nite...recieved a message stating it NEEDS Win XP or higher and it WOULD not continue INSTALLATION....

This is on my Win7 rig...The new versions of Firefox are really top notch. The browser performs FANTASTIC, even while using fewer system resources. Extremely stable, highly secure. Highly RECOMMEND.

I use Win7 and dont have a password when opening a session because i'm moslty by myself, but I noticed that while i'm away, anyone that can open chrome and go into the manage password TAB can just see anything without any security QUESTION asked... is the WINDOWS 7 login password and the chrome manage password security code linked, because I don't see any option in the chrome settings to lock this tab.No...and if you have not set a password for Chrome it behaves like the above...

you could try creating a new Firefox profile.
that'll prove it's a Firefox issue or not.

also try from another user account profile to rule out the current account being a factor.
both options sadly will not have all the STORED passwords.
but if they work, you could COPY the sqlite files and the key4.db file from the current FF profile to the new one.

Is there a WAY to OPEN all TABS from a DEVICE in SYNC at once?

I have something weird happening when I use Internet EXPLORER...I will go onto Facebook, Realtor.com, and some other websites and I will be there anywhere from five to ten MINUTES and the screen starts blipping, flashing kind of, my favorites list OPENS, I'll x out of it and reopen IE and go back to the website I was on.  Everything is fine but will start doing it again, so I change to Google Chrome to do what I want.  I like using IE on FB as I play games there and the board is bigger than on Chrome.  This has been happening off and on for about five months, it's just getting worse.  SuperDave had me clean my computer and everything was fine, except this problem crept back in.  Do you know what the problem might be?  I have IE 11 I think.  My computer is a Dell Inspirion, Intel i5-4460, CPU 3.20 GHz, RAM 8 GB, 64-bit.  I bought it November 2015.

personally, I'd be weaning myself off IE and onto almost anything else: Edge, Firefox or as you have started, Chrome.

Try iexplore.exe –extoff to run IE "No Addons Mode'' use as normal and see if the issue persists. If not,it is an Addon causing the issue.

I can only open certain websites, such as ikea.com, once. Then whenever I try to open it again it crashes.

I am currently using a newly installed Windows 10, on a laptop from Dell Alienware.

This is how the issue looks like in different WEB browsers:

Chrome: ERR_SSL_BAD_RECORD_MAC_ALERT

Microsoft Edge: INET_E_DOWNLOAD_FAILURE

Firefox: (Returns a blank page)

Opera: This site can't be reached

Interestingly, whenever I clear the cache I can access the webpage again, but only once, then the same ERROR APPEARS. If I ENTER in incognito mode, I can also access the webpage once before it cannot be opened again.

I tried with the command: ipconfig/flushdns in the terminal, but it made no difference.

Now, I posted in the other thread that thanks to Super Dave, I think his name is, the ransomware is gone. So, thank you, Super Dave. I have this problem. I can't seem to open a new tab to get into a WEBSITE. I can get into the website but it takes forever to do it. It shouldn't
 take this long. Plus, I still have "Google didn't shut down, restore the pages?". Also, getting from one page to another takes forever and lots of times it shuts off. What I mean is that I'll be on Google Chrome and all of a sudden, it will just shut off.

I've recently performed a recovery on my Dell Inspiron laotop, and there seems to be some problems with the Internet Explorer.

It can't display some webpages, or links in CERTAIN webpages.

For example, it can't display www.google.com, but can display www.dell.com. However, from Dell's main page, I can navigate certain links but not OTHERS, with the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

Another example, if I search for something from the address bar, the result from Bing would show up, but if I click into any of the result, "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".   

There is no problem with Google Chrome. have you performed all Windows system security updates after this recovery? If your IE is out of date it can cause issues. Additionally you MAY need to also install or update Adobe Flash to get certain pages to behave.Hi Dave, after Windows Update upgraded the Internet Explorer to version 11, everything works fine now.

When I try to leave - or even just close - the New York Times' SITE in Firefox, I get the "This page is asking you to confirm you want to leave - data you have entered may be lost" message.

Hi I am running Windows 10 on P8Z77_v pro motherboard with I5 3570 3.4 Hz CPU, Geforce GTX 950 DDR5 video card, sound blaster Audigy Fx sound card, Realtek PCI GbE Family Controller network card with 2 stick of DDR3 2GB 667MHz and 1 stick of DDR3 4GB 800MHz ram
My problem started with my sound, with headphones, when I turn the sound up to around 48% it would get distorted so I got the sound blaster sound card. Now when I play world of tanks or play Sounds preview from Sound blaster control panel my sound cuts out until I run sound troubleshoot and it says, "Turning off audio enhancements may fix it", so I have, it then says that "the audio format not set as default and it has fix this problem",  I also updated DRIVERS to the LATEST, turning off power save and none of these have worked, I am not sure how to stop this happening. I also have had my internet drop out and reconnect I am using cat6 CABLE. Any help would be very welcome

I used to be able to shut my computer off and then when you turn it back on, you wouldn't have to LOG into each SITE. You'd be automatically logged in. How do you do that as I can't remember how?If you want to be always logged into web sites, you need to find, on each site that you visit, (usually on the log in page) an option called SOMETHING like "keep me logged in". usually a check/tick box. You need to do this once, at login, for each site that you visit. If you had previously done this for a number of sites, but now they are all gone back to making you log in, then possibly you deleted all of your cookies, or maybe you have started using a different browser?I used to have the box "keep logged in" which I checked. I do click on that box when I log in but when I shut the computer down and go back to a website, I have to sign in. I'm still using the same browser, Google Chrome, which is what I was using before. You haven't set Chrome to delete cookies? MIGHT be worth reading this

I haven't set The Cookies to be deleted in Google Chrome, YET it still happens. You can sign in to your browser and you can use same history/accounts on a different computer as well. You just need to login your browser.

With a Recent Update, GOOGLE CHROME has RATHER significantly changed how the Browser tabs appear.

For those that might not like the new APPEARANCE, one can change it back.

1. Enter chrome://flags/ in the address bar

2. change the setting for "UI Layout for browser's top chrome" to "Normal".


What has actually transpired is that with the update, the default was changed from "Normal" to "Touchable Refresh".

Google Chrome CONSTANTLY shuts down. I'll be on Directvnow.com and have a couple of other tabs open and it will shut down. Then, it will say something of the effect "Google Chrome didn't shut down correctly. RESTORE Pages?" I want to know why it's doing this and if there is a solution. Is it because of Directvnow.com? Do I have to free up memory? It's not clean the cookies, is it? I hope it's not because I have to sign in again and type my password, where if I don't clean the cookies, the passwords are automatically there on the website. Plus, I'm having trouble with my email, so there's a GOOD CHANCE that if I sign into a website again, USING my email, I won't be able to get into the site.

DaveLembke has the right ANSWER here, I was trying to change some colours but just could not remember where I was at the time that I made the change to red. It was a test to see just exactly what, that area I was in did in fact change.

Late nights & alcohol had their effect so I went to bed & totally forgot what I'd done.
Of course Windows 10 was no help with their format of "we made windows 10 so much better" attitude & use this or find another way to do everything that we've been training you to do with a different O/S...... Enough of my rant about windows,,, The answer is as DaveLembke highlighted.

We don't assist with that here...sorry.Changing the network address of your computer won't improve wireless signal. Some say changing the wireless channel to one that is less busy can help get a cleaner signal but I've never known of any interference in a band where switching channels COULD make any difference.

If you really want to set a static network address for your computer you'll need to find the MAC address of your PC and access the router console to assign an IP to that MAC address. Honestly though automatic lease is fine for anything you need.

You're only options are to boost the signal, get the computer CLOSER to the transmitter, or USE a wired connection.

If it really is your neighbour's wifi as patio says then you're stuffed unless your neighbour is willing to move the router closer to your adjoining walls.

Consider these two related questions:
 • Why didn't you make it a network with a domain?
 • Why does everybody have to have the same home page?

If you already did a Google search you would have found thee local domain thing is needed if you want to control all of the PCs on you network.

I've been using Opera for years. I'm now on version 49. Until now, I've had no issues with it. What's happening is, it has a tendency to crash periodically.

Today I decided to uninstall the application, firstly in the control panel, then I deleted the files in the Opera Software folder in the Local and Roaming folders. I then reinstalled it and ran the browser.

I hadn't been on it for more than a few minutes when it crashed.  Thinking there maybe something else causing it to crash I made the decision to do a complete reinstallation of the Operating System. Having done that the first thing I installed was Opera and guess what it crashed. Apart from the Operating System there is nothing else on C drive apart from Opera. As I've said I've had no bother with Opera.

Only drawback to this software is that I didn't see an ability to print what is displayed. However I was able to use the printscreen key and paste the screenshot of all stored passwords into mspaint and save all the info as JPG file to use for future reference.

I then was able to go back to my main desktop computer and logon to the site and contact the owner of the website that their password reset feature isn't working because their captcha errors as out of date and notify the webmaster.

Just about everything in NirSoft's archive of tools is EXCELLENT...

If I go to Options | Network Connections in Firefox, I see this (which is how it should be 127.0.0.1 8080) attached.

I have been reading for past few hours about Push Notification API and Web Notification API. I also discovered that Google & Apple gives push notification service for free VIA GCM and APNS respectively.

I am trying to understand if we can IMPLEMENT push notification to browsers using Desktop Notification, which I believe is what Web Notification API does. I SAW a google documentation on how this can be done for Chrome here & here.

Now what am still not able to understand is:

• Can we USE GCM/APNS to send push notification to all Web Browsers including Firefox & Safari?
  
• If not via GCM can we have our own back-end to do the same?

Sorry there is no way to get Combat flight simulator 2 running on Windows 10. And to try forcing Windows 10 to except the cab files from the game this will make for a UN reliable windows. So not an option

If you still have your Windows 7 media or disk drive try running a Virtual machine , Hyperv if you have windows 10 pro or Virtual box if home VERSION. COME to mind.
I have an old windows 7/XP dual boot computer which was a high end gaming system about 8 years ago which is ideal when you want sometime playing older games.

I MADE a change on my PC (windows 10) which changed more things than I expected. Anyway, I opened Chrome back up and there was a message from Microsoft saying they had found some trojan/worm (plural) and that it had caused 28.1% damage. I have a Dell DU7670 running on Windows XP 2002 that I'm trying to get on the internet.  I was GOING to use IE in order to DOWNLOAD Chrome, but IE is displaying the "cannot display the webpage" error.  I used the diagnostic and it said there was a problem with the Winsock provider catalog, and it could be reset to the default configuration.  I said yes to this and the computer restarted and when I tried IE again I got the same error and the same diagnostic.  When I try to run ipconfig the box pops up for a SECOND and then disappears.  Can anyone help me, please? You should be using XP Pro SP-3.
And you have to get a newer browser.

As it is a desktop and quite old, perhaps the date and time are incorrect due to a flat cmos battery. If it is wrong you can reset it in control panel , date and time.
If you WANT to run ipconfig you need to start an administrator cmd prompt.
Click the Start button. In the Search programs and FILES box that appears just above it, type cmd . In the results, above the search window, right-click cmd and select Run as administrator. If a User Account Control prompt pops up, click Yes.

It can be created as TXT or HTML file.
TXT file of COURSE allows only SIMULATE greyscale.
HTML code allows to add colors...

I need for my own project separate ASCII characters and colors SEPARATELY from HTML.
ASCII characters is not problem - them I have in TXT file.
But how to extract colors from HTML - in HTML code they're combined with other tags and really don't understand HTML code like others, basics I know but it is not enough.

Can anybody help me with colors extraction or any tool for doing it?
Really I don't know what to enter into SEARCH engine.

Hey guys,in TODAY's time CHROME is the most used browser in the world.But obvious it is great..But i m a medical student and when i access websites for my studies,sometimes it automatically starts playing advertising  videos.Which is really big source of distraction and frustration for me.Is there any way to prevent it?Will be thankful if some one helps genuinely.

I am unable to view FILE, Edit, View menus (even after trying ALT key).  My tool bars are gone. I cannot USE any of the favourites, or print a page.  I cannot click on a link provided to follow it for help.  It is as if my permission level has been removed and I cannot do anything on the page.  There is an icon on the bottom taskbar - it LOOKS like a screen with a red X through it.  A young child has been using the computer and I suspect has clicked on something that they should not.  Please help - it is driving me crazy as I feel like someone has "net nannied" me.Right-click below the URL box and checkmark the corresponding TOOLBARS.
