Solve : Deleted mail in trash can?

Answer»

Hi.

By a mistake I sent some sensitive information to a CONTACT of mine. I contacted the guy and meet up with him to make sure that he deleted the mail. I watched him delted the mail from his inbox and from his trashcan, can the guy still get the mail back then? He was using a hotmail account and was using his cell phone. Not sure what browser he used sorry. The mail was sent from a gmail account with a FIREFOX browser. The mail is also delted from from my mail (both sent mail and trash can).

Thanks in advance.
If he deleted it from the bin in his hotmail account, it is effectively removed from hotmail. Only Microsoft would be able to get it back but they probably don't want to.

He could, of course, have printed it beforehand or stored it elsewhere. The mail appeared to be unread, when I first SAW it in his hotmail account. I clicked on the mail to open it and then I deleted it.

So I don't think that he could have DONE something with it? Quote from: NewZealand85 on January 28, 2012, 03:00:48 PM

He was using a hotmail account and was using his cell phone.
I don't see how can get much comfort from that.  Do you know for sure that he does not have his hotmail account set up in an email client on a computer?  If he did, then he could have downloaded that email message to his HARD drive where it can remain even though deleted from the web server.

Solve : IE6 starts in kiosk mode?

Answer» SOMETIME during the past month, my computer must have picked up some spyware that is causing IE6 to open in kiosk mode.

Does anyone know how to restore IE6 so it opens with all the toolbars visible?  It's awfully frustrating to have to hit the F11 key everytime IE6 starts.

THANKS in advance.

Stevesbnewman...hummmmm ..what spyware scanning software are you using ?  And have you clicked restore Internet settings to see if that helps /

let us know

dl65  Thanks for the quick reply.  I'm using Spybot Search and DESTROY (LATEST version).  I'm not sure if spyware is the problem, but that was my first assumption.

I've tried resetting the IE6 default settings, but that doesn't make a difference.  I believe there is some way to make IE6 REMEMBER your screen settings when you exit, but I don't remember what the command is.

Solve : clear old google searches?

Answer»

How do I clear old google searches?  I have deleted my cookie files and TEMP internet files with no avail. You can turn off the auto FILL form in:

Internet EXPLORER 6.0

Tools (Extra) - Internet Options - Advanced tab - Surfing (Browsing) - 'In line Auto fill'. Disable it. (This has been mostly translated from a localized version.)

Or go to Start - Settings - CONFIGURATION - Internet Options - Advanced Tab - Surfing (Browsing) - 'In Line Auto fill'

Deleting your HISTORY may also do the same. Considering that you only cleared the cache and cookies.

Solve : Strange, horizontal, repeating lines.?

Answer»

I recently re-booted my computer for the second time thanks to certain spyware. But everyime I visit a page and scroll down with the mouse wheel or with the arrows to the right, I get these horizontal lines which seem to repeat the page. I've never had this problem before.

I thought at first it was a mouse problem, so I changed the settings. The option "One screen at a time" is better but there is still that annoying line.

However, I have no problems with M.S Paint nor certain websites. If anyone knows how to remedy this strange problem, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you for your time. ^_^you can try tools/internet options/advanced/restore defaults...click...Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried that but the "smooth-scrolling" option part on the Internet Settings make the lines more frequent and lags scrolling.
do you mean this>http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;190136&Product=ie  what operating system and what ie?are using..No, its definitely not white bars, its more like the page moving down to the "next screen".

I'm sorry, I'm not computer whiz, what you you mean by operating system. ^^;;win 3.1 /95/98/me/2000/2000pro/winxp home/pro..etc..Oh! Sorry, I use Windows XP.is this website you are TRYING to use badly scripted..? or would you say this happens on certain websites?or all of them? you COULD try this reboot pc and hit keep TAPING the f8 and splash screen will appear chose the last good config....and also run this >http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ to see if its a trojan causing this problem...it may well be...No this happens to me on EVERY website except certain websites like : http://chaos.mazoku.org/jungle.html

Sorry I should've been more specific when I said "visit a page".

I don't think its a computer problem itself because I don't have this problem with M.S Paint.

no problem with that webpage ....if these suggestions do not WORK....try another browser like firefox/avant...another suggestion is this >http://www.theeldergeek.com/repair_ie6.htmThank you so much for your suggestions! Right now, I'm running a virus/trojan scan and I'll try that theeldergeek next if it isn't a trojan or virus.

Oh yeah, I'm sorry, I should've also mentioned that it also happens with other browsers like Firefox.I have seen the exact same problem on another computer that I used when this one was broken down and no one here was able to provide an answer.

Do you have two videocards installed? If yes, what kind of videocards?

Did you install the latest drivers for the videocards? - This seemed to have made the problem less frequent on the other PC.

That may be it, except um....is there any way I could check? I'm really sorry, I'm kind of terrible with computers. ~~;

Also, I have re-booted the computer before and didn't have this problem. When I re-booted again, it just happened. Do you have any idea why it happened so if I ever fix it, I could prevent it.Check the back of your computer housing to see if there are two VGA ports. They are usually blue. The monitor should be connected to one. Disconnect it and see what the port looks like for an example.

Article of interest:

Computer Video Card Support and HelpYeah I just checked and I only found one blue one connected to the monitor.

Also, I'm not really sure if its a computer problem itself because I don't have this problem with M.S Paint. Just with I.E and/or any other browser.

Solve : WLANs?

Answer»

I was LOOKING into buying a laptop for when I start UNIVERSITY.  The University supplies a phoneline and broadband to every room, I was looking at getting a notebook that says it has a built in Built in Wireless LAN 802.11b 11Mbps.

Will I be ABLE to use this in the University system?
Is this a lot slower than the traditional Internet dial up connection?
EVEN though it has a WLAN could I still use a phoneline for the Internet without having to buy a modem?you may FIND that the wlan is encrypted by the uni..for teachers to  use only...the best way is to find a cyber cafe...or if you are going to the expense of a wlan laptop you will have to find the hotspots to use it.

My apologies for that uncouth ruffian that is the alias "Raptor". Can you try and use another "provider" to get online - get an AOL CD or some other company to get you online. This will then tell you if it is an AT&T software problem, or a problem with other software on your PC. I would suggest you call AT&T if you NEED to use their service.

Solve : Internet Explorer icon on the desktop?

Answer»

I deleted the Internet Explorer icon from my XP desktop. I thought I could restore it by going to "Display Properties/Desktop/Customize Desktop" and then PUTTING a check back in the "Internet Explorer" box.
But this does not work.

I know I could create a NEW shortcut, but doing so does not have the same properties as the one that is comes by default with XP
i did the following but i dont  rise:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{871C538 0-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}\ShellFolder
my emai: [email protected]
and CHANGE the value attributes on the right pane to 24 (24 HEX = 36 DEC)
e.g.
Attributes=dword:00000024
press F5 to refresh the desktop and it will APPEAR again.

If still no joy, do a search in the registry for NoInternetIcon and make SURE the value is 0(zero)

edit
Come to think about it, you can always download xteq, does the same and much more.

please help me
 thank-you
etelaresani....I really dont completely understand what you are doing in the registry if all you did was remove the IE icon from the desktop.....click start ....All programs....scroll up to internet explorer....right click and select send to ......now select desktop (create shortcut)
Now its back......
Just a tip ... I would stay out of the registry unless you know exactly what your doing in there ......a few wrong keystrokes and you could have a lot more trouble than a missing icon.

Hope this helps,

Solve : Outlook Express vanished?

Answer»

Outlook Express has completely vanished from my computer - running Windows XP Home Edition.  When I type into the Run window: MSIMN, it says Windows can't find it.  (My INTERNET provider suggested I try to find it that way.)

Internet Explorer itself poses no problems.  I also have kept up with all the Windows updates.

Since OE is part of IE, I thought I'd reinstall IE without uninstalling it, as I assumed it would just overwrite it and correct the wrongs.  At the Microsoft download website I think I successfully downloaded the IE6setup (it appeared on my DESKTOP), but when I INSTALLED it and re-booted, Outlook Express was still missing.

Also, this may not be related at all, but I am not able to access any of my help screens and when I logon to my account the following error message appears:  File "MDATA.DAT" not found.  This doesn't seem to prohibit any software I'm using, but it appeared at the same time Outlook Express vanished.

Please keep in mind, I am a NOVICE at this.  I tried looking at the MS support knowledge based articles, but they may as well have been in another language.  Thank you for any suggestions/solutions you offer.LinM....Thats odd.....did you look in C: PROGRAMS ....there should be a folder called outlook express.......where you removing anything or adding anything when this occurred.  The error your getting re.....MDATA.DAT refers to either a missing mouse driver or an old mouse driver.....Have you changed your mouse ?
If you really can't find it ....you can download it here....
http://www.tucows.com/preview/194179.html

After you download it be sure and go to MS update site and get any updates for it.

let us know

dl65  I believe you can also install Outlook by adding extra Windows components by using the Software menu.dl65,
Thank you for your suggestion.  I downloaded OE from the website you provided, however the installation didn't take place because an error message came up that this machine already had a newer version of IE.  (or was I supposed to uninstall IE first?)
Also, yes I had uninstalled games that my kids no longer played, but OE worked fine after that for a day or so.  (really wished I had created restore points before and after uninstalling so many games)

Thanks!

Solve : 2 Net issues?

Answer» ALRIGHT, well here goes... best explanation of the problem that I can give.  Currently I'm monitoring my Registry files and have noticed that SOMETHING keep changing my 'search assistant' to strange long strings of supposeably completely random letters and numbers.  As far as I know that's not too bad, except that since I'm monitoring it I get a pop-up everytime it changes asking if I WANT to let it change.  Although I can have it set to ignore the request to change item A with item B... and to just not bother me again next time it tries replacing it with B, I cannot get it to not change it to item C D E F G H I J or any mixture of random letters and numbers AFTERWARDS because they're all different and it has to ask to make sure for each one.  Is there anyway to either... A) find out what's trying to change the key and have it stopped?  or B) Lock down that particular entry so that it can't be changed

That would be problem one... now onto problem number two.  There's a search bar that pops up whenever I try and open IE and it refuses to go away.  Clicking the X does nothing, though Alt-F4 does close it until next time I open IE.  Right clicking it and going to properties gives the same general INFORMATION doing the same on a website would do... more specifically:

Address: http://lop.com/passthrough/newpass.html

So... how do I get rid of this obnoxious bar?  Thanks for your time, even if you just read the post but aren't able to help

Michael Adam Gabzdyl.......What operating system are you running? What cleaning utilities do you regularly run . It sounds LIKE you have some issues going on there . Could be a hijacker......but without running utilities like ......Ad-Aware , SpyBot , Spy sweeper as well as a current updated anti virus you really have no idea of the problem .  Why are you "monitoring your registry" are you doing it manually or are you using some registry utility.

daviedownload and scan with this >http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ also recheck firewall settings ..winxp/nis  if you have downloaded sp2 this also contains a firewall....Have you set Norton Firewall or Anti-Virus to disallow cookies?

would this have screwed up my 'cookies' setting and any idea of how to download sp2 properly.
much obliged
davieSP2 and Norton do not get along. It is best to not install SP2 until the bugs are worked out. It is known to break more than 100 applications and cause havoc with the ones it doesn't break. Some of MS apps won't even work with SP2. There is no way to uninstall SP2 once it is installed. Save yourself a big headache and hold off on it.Forgot. SP2 automatically defaults to turn on the built in firewall. Make sure it is turned off.  It blocks INBOUND traffic, but if you should get any "call home" pests, it will allow it. Stay with your present firewall software.cheers- much obliged

Solve : multiple errors, cannot open anything!!?

Answer»

hi yall, i have a big problem with error messages everytime i try to open anything.this has been going on about a week and i cannot figure it out.so far i have uninstalled and reinstalled ie, ran virus and spyware programs, defraged, deleted all unused programs, disabled most start up items and im about ready to redo windows but if i do am i going to lose all my family pics ect. i have saved on my pc??do yall think it would help if i did this? im just lost as to what COULD be the trouble...any help would be  greatly appreciated.some of the HUNDREDS of errors are...explorer has caused invalid page fault in mod. mfswxzjh.dll at 0167:023c4a2f. and   kmjdnbfc.dll at 0167:02ad6cbd   also kernal 32 errors!  i am running windows 98se.If you wish to eliminate all the problems occuring, you will have to format.

I suggest you save your files to a storage media. Such as Diskettes or CD-ROMS.

If that is not possible, you may copy your photos and other files you wish to keep to a partition. If you donot have a partition, I suggest you create one with a program such as Symantec Partition Magic 8.0

Once that is done, you can safely format your C: station and reinstall Windows 98.

You may require a bootfdisk to boot from if you have not obtained one yet: http://www.bootdisk.deok run spysweeper from www.webroot.com ...? next download  sytem mechanic form iolo.com...theses will clean  you system ...try a defrag..are you using ie6? and there is this >http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/support/windows/topics/errormsg/kbipf.asp   and you can try a program called free ram...thank you both, i will go try these other things first and hope they help. yes i am using ie6, i went to microsoft a few days AGO and have not yet heard from them .keeping my fingers crossed that these things ya sent me will work!!! thank you. im scared to try redoing windows myself, heck i probably would kill this thing fer sure if i try it! oh and my floppy died a while back so i cant even boot from a floppy .geeeez what a mess.you may find that have ie6 is the CULPRIT?...try another browser or use your old ie..Internet Explorer 6.0 WORKS fine here.ok i used spysweeper as you said, it came up with 2 trojans and a boat load of other stuff so i cleaned it up.  how do i go back to using the old ie?? i have heard a lot about mozilla(?) should i maybe try that ,ya think?one question tho....does ie have anything to do with opening things such as  my computer or my documents? i hate to be such a dummy about computers but sadly...i am. thank god for people like yall.Internet Explorer does not have much to do with opening documents. Unless you use Internet Explorer to do so.

As for Firefox, I highly recommend that.

Mozilla Firefoxi was refering to ie6 does not like win9x? and have you tried this>http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q237/8/88.ASP&NoWebContent=1hello again, welll i took yalls advice and soooo glad i did! i downloaded mozilla...its great i can now browse with ease. the only thing is, i still get the errors when opening my computer and my documents ect. i also got the system mechanic and it found tons of stuff to get rid of.,but nothing has helped the problem of the error messages. should i completely uninstal ie ,would that help?i created a shortcut to desktop for my dial up networking so i dont have to go thru my computer anymore but it also gives error messages when clicked on.  thanks yall...so much http://www.all-windows.com/kernel32_02.html   or you could try this some would disagree with it but here goes...search for the  c:\windows\options\cabs folder  next to the scanreg icon in this folder  should an icon called setup..click this ...this will reinstall your system...it may or may not ask for the install disk...  merlin_2, thank you for sticking with me through this. i hate to say but i followed your instructions in the last post up till i got to the scan reg folder, it is NOT there. maybe this is my problem huh?  i went to the link you gave me and im gonna try to follow the steps to delete and replace  the corrupted . thanks again and hope i make it back to let ya know if t works .

Solve : DSO Exploit?

Answer»

I have a DSO exploit and cant get rid of it.

I have run Spybot, Adaware and Iolo. All 3 detect the DSO and all 3 say they removed it.   But its still on my system.

Its making my system run slow and sluggish

Any ideas please ?

(IE 6.0, P4, 1 GIG of RAM, Cable modem)What would DSO stand for?

If you know it is a security hole, why not patch it?If I knew how to patch it, I wouldnt post this question for help.

:-/ Quote

What would DSO stand for?
DSO exploit is a vulnerability in IE that can allow malware to be run on your COMPUTER. IF IE is patched and up-to-date it is not a problem. There are two ways to rid the report. One is note the registry entries displayed by Spybot and use Regedit to navigate to the entries and delete them. If your IE is properly patched do the following:

1 Open Spybot and select 'advanced' mode
2 Select 'settings' in the left column
3 Select 'ignore products' in the left column
4 Select 'security' tab
5 Place a check mark in the box(s) beside DSO Exploit
6 Exit Spybot
7 Restart Spybot and run a scan.Hwy420.....You might give this a try , it should do it as well .
Have "Search & Destroy" look for problems the usual way and then (1) highlight one of the "Data source object exploit" items, (2) Right CLICK the highlighted item to bring up the menu list and select "More details", (3) Now click "Jump to location", (4) You are now viewing the Registry and can use the path shown in the Search & Destroy window to get to the key shown, (5) I manually deleted each of 5 keys and no longer have it coming BACK.  I haven't noticed any change in performance so I trust that I did no HARM but I am happy not to have the d**NED thing any more.

Hope this helps

He will LOG into Yahoo games and then pick a card game like pinochle. This BRINGS up a screen where you choose a lounge to enter. He can enter a lounge and play the game, but when he exits the lounge IE locks up. We have ran all the spyware programs, anti-virus programs, tried all the fixes recommended by Yahoo and Java (Sun) but the problem still exits.

Thanks for any suggestions
MikeYou could use an alternative browser such as Mozilla Firefox

Will not EXACTLY solve your Internet Explorer problem, but will make you experience the Internet a tad better.

Solve : red x's instead of pictures?

Answer»

don't know if it's virus related or not-many sites, including this one are showing all small boxes with red x's...instead of  probably pictures...running Windows 98 and updated Norton virus program...can't sort out if this is a virus or software/hardware related-any ideas?
thanks!this is not a virus the red x boxes mean you have not got java enable what ie are you using and have you tried tools/internet/options/advanced tab ---restore defaults--click button or if does not do the trick look in security --custom level---scroll down the list and see if the java enable box is ticked..Red X's where a pic should be indicate thyat FRO some reason the pic is not coming through.  It may be Java as mentioned or maybe you've got images turned off in advanced options. Cheers   thanks, it worked to go into tools, and change to enable java scripting...for some odd reason several settings like this got undone...it's been years since I set those options-really APPRECIATED the help!Hey, I've got Java, and It's enabled in my settings.  But occasionally I get the undisplayed images.  I've had them show up alonside normal images on the same page.  Can that be caused by the images being in an outdated format?  I'm using Windows 98 SE.VoidAngel:  I have had that problem too...and the strangest thing is that it comes and goes.  One time I'll access a page without ISSUES and the NEXT time I have the red X's.  I haven't changed any settings or anything.
I am using Internet explorer 6.0 and windows xp pro.  My ISP is sbcglobal.netThe trouble is the now m$oft do not support java anymore>http://www.winnetmag.com/Article/ArticleID/38206/38206.html  and if this is removed it will help people with  their home page being hi-jacked and also help viruses being download to peoples pcs...Hey, maybe it's just that the pictures can't be displayed!

If the java applets dont show up, then u get this small box with shapes in the upper left hand cornerHey, im having a problem with the red X's but on games such as jippii and yahoo. ive tried re- installing internet explorer and doing the tools, Interent, options, advanced tab thing that Merlin suggested but it still doesnt work. can someone help?   ive got Xphttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q283807SP2? Solve : It keeps losing connection?!??

Answer»

I have Cable internet and I just recently after I bought my new computer I have been seeing some problems. I will be able to turn on my computer and go on the internet just fine, but then randomly it just loses its connection and I have to reboot my computer everytime to get my connection back up. Well lately its been LOSING its connection LIKE mad and it seems like every ten minutes or so it will log me off.

Does anyone know the problem and how to fix it?firewall maybe ...modem config...router...what operating system is this...or is it server error.. have you tried pinging the server...for packets sent ...packets lost...or try netstat in the command prompt..Hmmmm, I really dont know what you are saying. All I know is whenever I go on the internet and start going to sites and stuff eventually the internet connection will be lost be it within 5-25 minutes of being on the net. Its getting very frustrating.save your dial up number and password delete your connection and make a new one via internet wizard or do it manually..and check your settings for time to live ....it maybe that is set to CUT you of?what modem have you got  update the driver...more info on internet connections ..how is it set up..I suggest you call your cable provider and have them walk you through it.It MAY be something as simple as a check in the "Disconnect after sending and receiving" box in your mail server Tools/Options/Connection???  If that is checked it will disconnect every time you send or receive mail, or sometimes "log-on".  Best of luck... Quote

It may be something as simple as a check in the "Disconnect after sending and receiving" box in your mail server Tools/Options/Connection???  If that is checked it will disconnect every time you send or receive mail, or sometimes "log-on".  Best of luck...

Sorry, Kelly.  This is cable...it's ON all the time.  The only ways to disconnect are to turn off the computer or turn off the cable modem, or disconnect the cables.
Now this keeps happening. It seemed like the problem went away. But it seems to lose connection everytime I'm on the computer looking though websites and while my sister is on the other computer chatting on her *censored* AIM.maybe you sister should try  trillian or msn messenger... and get rid of aim >aol..you are on? no disrespect but aol is full of nastys?.. and if you have firewalls these can cause problem if they are not configured to allow websites...also have you tried another nic card...>http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q310089&ID=KB;EN-US;Q310089disable hibernation and disable win messenger or this in the device manager/ hardware  click the  + USB controllers/double click usb root hub chose  power management and uncheck the box  it may help?
Now when I go to certian websites some message seems to come up and its like you need to debug this or something like that. Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it? Also what are somethings that would be on my internet options or Nortons that would log me off the internet? Because I'm still having this *censored* problem.sorry to be pain in the harriswhat o/s have you got norton should not log you of the net..is due to updates...how have set up you home networking?more info  again ....sorry..but if you need ..answers..THATS.. the way..it..is..I dont even remember setting up a home network.  You probably did use the Windows Internet connection wizard. From there, you can set different type of networks.

Solve : pegasusstudio.com pop-ups?

Answer»

I had a lot of ad/spyware downloaded just recently and have been able to remove everything with Spybot and Adware but I have still have a pop-up from pegasusstudio.com coming up.  It interrupts what I am doing online and then begins to install adware, TOOLBARS, you name it.  I have not been able to find any info on it.

Any suggestions?  Anyone run across this before?

Thanks!SET Adaware SE or Spybot S&D to run at START up.I have actually run both of those at startup.  And it seems to remove it, however it sleeps somewhere and returns after a few times online.  (dial-up) Those are two piecees of software I use religiously and have worked for all ELSE.  This seems to be a parasite or something similar.

Thanks for your reply.I suggest you scan for viruses/trojans if you have not yet done so.

You may wish to install a popup blocker or use Adaware Adwatch. (ASSUMING you have got a registered version) to detect and block registry changes that are caused by Spyware.

Spy Sweeper is also a very good program to remove spyware.

Using an alternate browser such as Mozilla Firefox is a very good idea as well.http://www.rcmillar.netfirms.com/subpages/Links.htm#Spyware_

Solve : Links Trouble?

Answer»

Hi,I have this problem on IE. Every now and then (randomly) ,when I am using IE , all links in a site suddenly turn to various links of adult sites. Then when I press refresh the same page loads but with the real links. I've noticed that this happens randomly and that the adult links aren't all the same.
And I already tried using these programs : AdAware , Spybot , Norton Anti-Virus , System Mechanic pro and Hijack This.
Ex: once when I was using Yahoo! I pressed 'SEARCH' and instead of the usual search page I got an adult site.

I am using WinXP Pro:Sp2 , 512k modem .
Does anyone have any suggestions or remedy for this thing?  You most likely did not properly configure Adaware and Spybot S&D properly.

I suggest you try those programs again and set them to load on Windows startup. Also look at the other options the programs provide you with.

As for INTERNET Explorer, use Mozilla Firefox instead;

Mozilla FirefoxYes i did try making Adaware and Spybot start on start-up and I even tried the 'use custom scanning options ' on adaware and got it to scan every single file but still what they find they remove but still the problem persists. thanks for the firefox link , i'll use ANOTHER browser for the time being. What kind of websites are you REFERRING to? If you have absolutely no spyware (No tracking cookies either) on your system, it may be just the webpage..The problem happens on alot of different sites. From search engines to Review sites. Thats why I think it isn't from the sites.A lot of review sites seem to have 3rd party advertisers that may lead to dodgy pop UPS. Same goes for search engines.

What version of Adaware have you been using?Adaware V6.0 with latest updatesFirefox has a built in pop-up blocker. I BELIEVE http://www.google.com offers an Internet Explorer plugin that contains a search engine and a popup blocker. With sp2 , even Internet Explorer has a pop-up blocker.
The problem doesn't give me a clue when it's going to happen. I press a link and the next thing I know is that the address changes totally to some other adult site , without opening a new window.Perhaps a different program such as Spysweeper or Pestpatrol will help you remove the problem.

Use this program to disable Messenger:

Shoot The messenger - Gibson Research Corporation

It may be causing spam.

(MSN Is not the same Microsoft Messenger)I installed SpySweeper and after running scans by Adaware and Spybot , I made a scan with SpySweeper. Incredibly it found 33 malicous items that the others did'nt find. I think that solved the problem because when I looked up some info on some of them I found out that they could be the problem. Till now the problem didn't happen again.
Thanks alot for your help as this seems to have solved it.

Solve : Save As Web Page Complete - option gone??

Answer»

Last week while browsing a site I selected the File / Save As to download a web page. Then, there were 4 OPTIONS on the Save As menu: Save As Web Page Complete, HTML file, TXT file and Archive File.

This week when I went to File  / Save As there are only 2 options on the Save As menu: HTML file and TXT file. The other 2 options seem to have vanished!

I tried reinstalling IE 6 but this did not restore these 2 menu options. I checked my REGISTRY settings and based on the absense of a restriction key these 2 menu options should be enabled?

Is anyone familiar with this particular phenomenon? did you try this >http://www.theeldergeek.com/repair_ie6.htmDid you perhaps remove any add ons and/or programs that added the last two options?

Did you see if the pages you saved earlier show the same symptons when attempting to save? Thanks for the suggestions folks. Unfortunately, the problem is still not resolved.

I don't know what the heck caused this to happen. I think I may have recieved a hack from a web site I visited. I may just reformat and reinstall the operating system to CLEAN up the pc, then INSTALL a RegKey and download monitor and visit the web again to see if the site sends any modifications to my pc.Install a virus scanner, firewall and an Adware scanner.

And use Mozilla Firefox. Much better browser than Internet Explorer.

I used to be able to use the "Conrol+Enter" shortcut in INTERNET Exporer to automatically insert the "WWW." and ".com" after typing a keyword into the address bar. Unfortunately, it does not work anymore and now causes an MSN Autosearch feature instead. I've reloaded the program again, to make sure that no files were corrupted - but the shortcut still does not work. I am on Internet Explorer 6.0. Please Advise. My apologies - I meant "CONTROL+enter" SORRY for the typo.any updates...since this happens...not sure? maybe?i guess this is winxp..I had the same PROBLEM and this fixed it for me.

Using Regedit, browse to the following registry key and make sure the noted setting is correct:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete]

"Append Completion"="yes"

You will also see the following values:

"Use AutoComplete"="yes"

"AutoSuggest"="no"You may have autocomplete for web addresses turned off:
Tools > Internet Options > Content
Under Personal Information > AutoComplete > Make sure "Web addresses" is checked.

Solve : IE - Errors then closes itself?

Answer»

For the most part my internet works fine but lately at some sites I go to a message comes up saying "An error has occurred in Internet Explorer.  Internet Explorer will now close.  If you continue to experience PROBLEMS, please restart your computer."  When I click ok it closes all of my internet WINDOWS.  It mostly happens when I click to download something off a site.  I know it's not the sites because I've downloaded from them before with no problems.

I have Windows XP and have run Ad Aware and McAfee VirusScan numerous times but they don't GET rid of the problem.  Is there anything else I can do?  Any help would be appreciated.

Also....maybe this problem has nothing to do with my internet problem but some of the video files I try to play on Windows Media Player IMMEDIATELY run into an error.  Two MESSAGES pop up: one saying WMP has run into a problem and needs to shut down AND Internet explorer saying it’s run into a problem and needs to shut down.  Are these problems related?  Or maybe my video files are just bad?

Solve : Why only me??

Answer»

Hello. For over 2 days, I have not been ABLE to access my own website or webmail. Now I thought maybe this would be my websites server being the PROBLEM, however everyone I have asked to access my site from their own computers have been able to access it.  So it is only my PC.

I can still access any other website on the web as well.

So if it is not my websites server and not my ISP, what in the world can it be?

My website is http://www.rockabillymonthly.com

It's a time out everytime.

I usually use IE 6.  I have also tried Mozilla.

Ive cleared the cache and all history and cookies.

I also tried plugging in a mac into my CABLE internet that I have been using, and it did the exact same thing. The mac was able to access every page but mine.

PLEASE help. Im on the verge of a breakdown.....

THanks.first check all your firewalls.....if you have download sp2 recently it also contains one...check all your settings... and  net connections....what happens if you ping your website?disable all pop-up programs?or try a NEW connection save user namer and password and this may help>http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/q163/3/91.asp&NoWebContent=1   and do you get error 791 or something like it?ping of my website results in a time out.

firewalls are off.

im thinking more and more that this is a isp problem. i use cable internet.I just went to your web site with no problem. Looking at the tracert from your computer there is a routing problem at hop #20. A router or your site host has a problem and it is not on your machine.
