Hank

Where in Internet Explorer are you seeing your old ISP mentioned ?
Was your old ISP AOL by any chance ?

dl65 Sorry. Let me try that again. My old ISP STILL shows on the title bar instead of the new ISP. My old ISP is DSLExtreme and my new ISP is Charter Cable.

HankIf the VERSION of IE that you are using was PROVIDED as part of the installation software from your old ISP, it is probably a branded version. Uninstall it and install a standard version of IE. My ISP has never appeared in the title bar of any of the 4 browsers that I use.

Solve : current page not displayed?

Answer»

Any help would be appreciated.
Just RECENTLY, when I go to a certain web page, like a blogspot, the current page is not displayed. It shows a page from days ago.
(WINDOW's 98 system)
I go to internet tools and adjust the temporary settings to update every time page is visited, then log off,and back on. Still the old page comes up.
I'm very frustrated. Any SUGGESTIONS?

LyghtAre you using Internet Explorer?
Go to File and check that "Work offline" is not enabled.
If it is checked, click it to disable it.
Then try the page again.
Also, when you're on the page, press Ctrl+F5. This refreshes the connection.
Hope this helps.Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, this didnt' solve the problem. I'm connected and the page still wont refresh to current day. What happened before this started?
Try using Firefox - does this display the current page?what is FireFox?

before it started, i had the site saved in my favorites. Every day i go there and click on it, and the current page came up. now for some reason, I click on it and the page from 4 days ago comes up. I removed it from favorites, deleted my cookies, changed the internet tools, and still it comes up incorrectly.

The only THING i can think of is that 2 days ago i had a problem where no images would display. but i rebooted and the problem was solved. Im not sure how this can be related.Firefox is an alternative browser.
Get it here.
Try using that instead of IE to view the page - does it still show an old page?
Which site is it that you're having this problem with?Is it possible the BLOGGERS are still enjoying the Holidays ? ? ?

Just a thought...

But you can get extensions for T-Bird so it can do all that and more.
Don't deny the power of Mozilla.OK, I just looked into the extensions and see that they have one ReminderFox. So, yes, some calendar FUNCTIONALITY is available for Thunderbird. However, per https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/1191/, "ReminderFox does not seek to be a full-fledged calendar system." Outlook is a full-fledged calendar system. How about this? An extension for T-Bird again.
Or this? A separate application, built on the same lines as Firefox. So not exactly integrated into T-Bird.
Don't know if either meets your needs as I've never used Outlook or Outlook Express so I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for.SunBird by Mozilla

Solve : Broadband to browser problem?

Answer»

hello there, i have been connected to broadband for a few months now and been happy with the service. i am connected as the second COMPUTER with a WIRELESS usb transmittor connecting to a Voyager router down stairs. Recently it has been absoutley fine but i did two things first i used the disk defragmentor because someone suggested it was a smart idea so i did to both drives and ALSO i went into the registry editor to make it so the internet explorer wouldnt start automatically as the computer started and it seemed to work after then but now even when it says the connection is fine with the router it lets me go no further then google my homepage. Unusually THOUGH when i plug in my original modem with normal speed internet it allows me to surf the web normally, so there isnt anything wrong with the explorer i assume. Can u help?

Mike Munroe

The homepage is probably a cached version and you might have no connection. SOMETIMES when getting dis-connected you have to re-acquire the signal...do this by right clicking on the wireless icon in the tray and select properties.

Solve : IE help?

I have window 7 64 bit and I want to know is there anyway possible I can change my IE 64 to a 32 bit.You should have both versions...

Quote

The Internet Explorer shortcut in the QUICK Launch toolbar and in the Start menu of Vista x64 will run the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer by default. Why run the 32-bit version if IE on the 64-bit version of Vista?

There are actually two shortcuts for Internet Explorer in the "All Programs" menu. Why two and what's the difference?

Here's the title of each and the exe's they run:

Internet Explorer
"C:\Program FILES (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

Internet Explorer (64-bit)
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

The first one runs IE from the "Program Files (x86)" FOLDER, this is the 32-bit version. The second one is the 64-bit version.

Solve : google chrome freezing?

Answer»

google chrome keeps freezing...not every page, but a lot of them and OFTEN...making in almost unuseable. i noticed this after i used a free registry scanner, that was PROBABLY a bad idea. i haven't noticed any other programs acting up, so i really don't know the cause. i've been using google chrome for almost 2 years now, and i miss it. any ideas?if you have system restore available, I'd probably restore to just before you used the free registry scanner.

Using registry scanner a lot of times adds more problems to your computer that wasn't there before.thanks, i appreciate the suggestion. that was my first thought too, i already tried. i went back to about a week before i used the registry scanner, and the problem is still there. i also tried uninstalling, and reinstalling google chrome, since it's the only program i seem to be having trouble with. but, that didn't work either.try downloading ChromePlus browser. It is based on Chrome and has additional features that, in my opinion, makes browsing more CONVENIENT such as having an IE mode if you need to use IE for some reason just to name one.

Of course, you can import your bookmarks and settings (whatever boomkark sync provides) if you use that.

Hope you will like this browser, and hopefully it works on your computer now.I tried chrome plus. The same issue persists in that program as well. I'm at a loss. I may have to reformat my hard drive, which seems really drastic. Quote from: jmccarver on August 04, 2010, 05:09:37 AM

I tried chrome plus. The same issue persists in that program as well. I'm at a loss. I may have to reformat my hard drive, which seems really drastic.

Unfortunately, I can't think of any other suggestions.

That's the problem with registry scanners / boosters.
There seem to be a number of complaints about Chrome all of a sudden. If that's the only program giving you trouble I suggest you use a DIFFERENT browser for the time being until Google releases a newer version of Chrome. Regardless, formatting seems like overkill.I am new here & not computer savvy.

I have tried numerous times to download Google Chrome. Whenever I do,
nothing works. I can't even get a page to come up. So, I uninstall and re-installed.

The last time I did, I IMMEDIATELY got the "Google Chrome Crashed" message.

So, I will just stick with Firefox for now. A registry cleaner seemed to have caused the problem. Never use registry cleaners. They are nothing but bad news.

Solve : Google chrome will not open profile?

Answer»

I have DOWNLOAD the latest version but I get this message OS is Windows 7 32 bit
"Your profile can not be used because it is a new version of Google chrome.
Some features may be unavailable. Please specify a different profile directory or use a newer version of Chrome."
As I said I have the latest version. Anyone know how to overcome this? Ojas
exactly what "profile" is this?this is an old topic, yes. But if anyone else is still wondering ... you uninstall Google Chrome.

Then you go to (if you're using vista, but I expect win7 to be same or similar location) C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\ (where you REPLACE UserName with your actual account name), and delete the Chrome folder (if it still exists)

Then, you just reinstall Chrome and it should be ok again. This is how I got it to work on my vista machine.

Solve : A browser security-related feature I have not seen before now?

Answer»

I have a Lowe's credit card and went to their website to logon to my credit account, using Chrome. I saw this in the browser address box:

Clicking on the small red x displays this:

I don't have a question about it except perhaps to ask whether any of you have seen this? It's appears to be a LEGITIMATE security notice to the user and is nothing to be overly CONCERNED about. I've had a few requests in e-mail and on the phone about this today and duplicated it so it definitely is legit. Something apparently just implemented into Google Chrome. Personally I wouldn't of implemented it the way they did, since it seems as if it's causing more confusion than good. All the pages with this I've seen have been secure, just that elements (e.g. pictures) are not sent secure to help with load time. Personally would of went with Green for ok, like they did, yellow for pages that just have elements that are not sent securely, but allow data to be still transmitted securely, and then red like your example when it REALLY is a security threat. It's a feature of Chrome and has been around for a while. I've pretty sure I've noticed it doing that for a month at the very least. That little security box also pops up anytime you click on the little icon next to an address in the bar.Well, the red x on the icon does not with appear with all FINANCIAL websites. For example, if I logon to my banking website, the lock icon is next to the address in the web address box but it does not have a red x on it. If I click on the lock icon, I get a popup box similar to one in my previous post but all three sections (Identity, Connection, and View history) of that Security Information popup panel have a green box, with a check inside, under them.

With the panel that appeared from Lowe's (in my previous post), the Connection section warns that "this page includes other resources which are not secure". So, that's what caused the red x to appear on the lock icon with the Lowes website. This explains why I haven't SEE it before; I had not used Chrome to logon to the Lowes account before that instance. Yeah, like Nathan said, there may be some part(s) of the page not secure, but things that should effect the security of your data. I've seen it a couple times, although not within the last couple of weeks, but I haven't been on anything that's supposed to be secure.I believe you meant: Quote from: quaxo on October 09, 2010, 12:18:21 PM

Yeah, like Nathan said, there may be some part(s) of the page not secure, but things nothing that should effect the security of your data.

Solve : How to keep using the Cleanpage addon Free version??

Answer»

I used the CleanPage IE addon for the past couple years. But my free version of Cleanpage stop working yesterday. Is it possible to keep using the older version of CleanPage? Everytime I attempt to filter a page, I end up getting whisked away to the CleanPage New Version download website.

I prefer to keep using the older version because it was free. Is there a way to stick to it somehow?

Thank you Send the software AUTHOR the same question. If you are only using that addon to block ads, you can ALWAYS use a modified host file. MVPS host file or hpHost files are two good ones. better yet download HostsMan and it will do the work for you,as far as finding the HOST files and modifying your current one also keeps them updated. I use it and it is a cool program. http://www.abelhadigital.com/hostsmanIt sounds like the author will not allow anyone to use the free version. Give the author puppy dog EYES, and maybe he'll bite (that was terrible)
In all seriousness, CONTACT the author and see if you can still use the free version. If that results in no DICE, then try to use the IE addons site to find another adblocker, or use bobgar34's advice.

Hope that helps

Solve : Can't log into my yahoo account?

Answer»

Hi,

I have been unable to log into my YAHOO email account for a few days now. I have tried IE it comes up with "can't display the page" I have tried Firefox and it comes up with "problem loading page". I have deleted all coookies, HISTORY and caches on both and restored default settings. I thought it might be a problem with Trend Micro security but haven't been able to find if it is blocking this site. I can log into my email from my iphone though so I guess it must be a problem with my computer.

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.Do you get the same error when loading other websites other than Yahoo webmail? If so, then you may WANT to your test your local area network connection for any issue. Since your iphone is working and it uses the Wi-Fi connection on your router, there is no problem with your router or internet connectivity.

Try the following
Go to Start->Run and type "cmd" without double quotes to launch DOS shell. Next, type ping yahoo.com. You should be GETTING a similar kind of response like the following

Reply from 98.137.149.56: bytes=32 time=184ms TTL=51
Reply from 98.137.149.56: bytes=32 time=185ms TTL=51

Reply from 98.137.149.56: bytes=32 time=195ms TTL=51

If it shows otherwise, then check
1. Your network cable to make sure both end are connected properly.
2. Go to Start -> Settings ->Control Panel ->Network Connection and make sure the NIC is enabled.
3. Remove your network card from your desktop PC and reseat it properly.

If you're running Windows 7 try the Internet Explorer Troubleshooter.

Actually, no question, just commenting. I agree it's good they're on top of things. There is one really annoying bug in the new version where it opens tabs in a new window constantly.

Are you sure thats Firefox and not an infected PC?I have also been having my Firefox uopdated at least 5 or 6 times during the past month, I read recently that a security risk was found but I would probably THINK that the company is just trying to keep everything working properly.

Solve : Script error when saving or opening files in Firefox?

Answer» SOMETIMES when I try to open up a file in Firefox .e.g. to upload something or when I try to save something - I often get a POP up warning of a script error. This usually happens when Im browsing around in the FOLDERS of the explorer window, in order to get to the right folder. Unfortunately I dont know the exact wording of the script and of COURSE I wasnt able to reproduce it just now. It does leave me with a choice of continuing, "yes" or "no". When I click yes I can usually keep going and pick the right file or location. But is annoying. Any advice what this could be? I run the newest Firefox version, but had this in previous versions too. And no, I'm not talking about the famous "unresponsive" script error that you get on certain sites. I dont get those. THANKS!Try to post exact error, you're getting.

You might want to jump over to the virus and malware forums post the requested logs and let those guys see if you still have something lurking on your system.
Also curious... you have a number of threads running over the last month of various errors and problems. Are these all on the same computer?no two different machines one is an xp the other is a vistaOk, and which machine is this? Some of your problems might be related, even though they might not seem related.

Like I said, you should still HEAD over to the malware and virus forum and let them check you out.the PROBLEM is on the Xp machine like i said i did a full system recovery and chrome still doesn't work so i guess chrome is a no go Like I said multiple times, you should post some logs in the malware forums. Reinstalling the OS does not clean viruses. Chances are the problem isn't strictly Chrome, but SINCE you seem reluctant to follow any advice, I don't know what else to tell you.i am doing that RIGHT know

Solve : problem with Firefox?

Answer»

Hi,

I am trying to find out why Firefox(current version) does not start again if I shut it off? If I click on the Firefox icon on the desktop after I have turned Firefox off (clicked the X to turn it off- it STOPS running) it will not open again if I want to re-open it. I get a message even after I click it off that Fire fox is still running and can't open unless I turn Firefox off (it already is off) or restart my computer. The only way I can get Firefox to open again is to restart the computer. Then everything works fine. What is causing this and can it be fixed so that it will open again if I turn it off without restarting my computer?

Windows XP Pro/SP3

Thanks,
beachguyYou may be closing Firefox, but, most likely, there is still firefox.exe process running.
Open Task Manager to see, if this is the case.
Broni,
I will do that. Once I turn Firefox off, I will go to task manager, processes and If I see anything there that indicates Firefox is still running after I turned it off, I will highlight it and stop it. Is this correct?
Thanks,
beachguy Broni,
Update:

I just turned Firefox off and went to the task manager. Firefox exe. is not running in Applications, but it is listed in a long list under Processes. If I highlight Firefox exe. in Processes and click "end process", I get a warning notice that doing this may disable and harm the program. So... I guess you were referring to if it was listed in Applications. It isn't when Firefox is turned off, and it still will not re-open unless I restart my computer. Hope this extra info. is helpful.

Thanks,

Solve : IE8 On - But In Hiding??

Answer»

My Internet Explorer seems to be hiding. When I start up IE8 I get the hour glass for a second or so then nothing. It took me a while to find that it was in FACT running. I found it in the Process tab of Windows Task Manager. After about 5 attempts at starting it there it lurked five times.

Initially the problem was shared with my Mailwasher program but that has since retuned to normality.

All my other programs seem fine, Firefox works okay, so at least I have a browser. But I like IE8.

It does on the odd OCCASION try to start (usually trying to follow a link from within an email) but then it just starts and informs me “Waiting for….” And just hangs and the dreaded box comes up “This program is not responding….”

I have all the Windows updates and have DONE a Panda scan, but to no avail. Can’t think of any program I have recently installed which may be conflicting.

I am running Windows XP on a dell Dimension with 3G of memory.

Anyone KNOW how I can get it out to run again?

To the disappointment of many users, it can't be done. If you would like to open a page you had open at some point in the past, you can press Ctrl+H to open the history. There is also a small SEARCH bar at the top so you can search for something specific.

Solve : Frustrated with Browser Language?

Answer»

Quaxo-- You hit the nail on the head and were dead right on this one -- thanks! The language for non-unicode programs did the trick. Now I can download stuff in English. In addition, it reverted some of my applications that had been running in Japanese back to English. For example, my touchpad control was in Japanese but reverted back to English after I made the change. Several people had suggested several things but you are the one with the best (and most simple) solution!
Thanks again.Ok, glad you were able to FIND that setting and get it all sorted out. If you have any more trouble, swing on back by. I was trying to figure out the best forum category to post this one. My new Acer laptop has an HDMI slot. So, I went online and bought a 2-meter HDMI cable on Amazon (thus saving a load of money because they cost a fortune in the stores here!). I hooked it up to my Sharp TV and I can't seem to get a full-screen picture. I have tried adjusting the screen resolution with no success. I can't get the picture on my 26" screen to be full size.

For the past couple of years I've simply been USING the separate video and audio connections and I've had no trouble getting a full-screen picture.

Any suggestions? What model is your laptop?Quote from: hockeysticks on November 13, 2010, 02:52:59 AM

I can't get the picture on my 26" screen to be full size.

You are supposed to start a new thread, and not simply tack your question on the end of another one. In any case, "INTERNET browsers" is so not the best category to post a query about HDMI. You may need to go into your display driver control centre (possibly ATI Catalyst?) and adjust the HDMI underscan percentage. ATI set this to 10% by DEFAULT I believe.

Not SURE where the display driver control centre is. My machine is an Acer Aspire Timeline series model 1830T-3425.Try the Start Menu. Look for Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. Better to find Acer laptop forum, ask there.

Solve : Firefox crashing on Google search...?

Answer»

I just started having this PROBLEM yesterday while running Firefox. When I go to Google it loads the initial search page fine, but then once I search something Firefox crashes. I searched around online and have found other people complaining about the same thing, and they mention starting Firefox in safe mode with add-ons disabled. I've done that, but I don't know what else to do from there to fix the problem. Suggestions?Close Firefox. Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode). Same thing? No, it does not crash in safe mode. Then there are issues with either extensions or themes you have installed...That's it.
Restart FF in normal mode, disable all add-ons.
Restart again, use it for a while.
No crash?
Enable one add-on.
Restart.
No crash?
Enable next one....and so on.

Main suspects - toolbars.I've been having many problems with firefox crashing, I thought it was some of the add on scripts but now I will try what was suggested here and uninstall the toolbars. That explains problems that I have been having on occasion. I'll be removing add on's and putting them back one at a time. Thanksmake sure your history is cleaned every week or 10 days, it can make the browser run really SLOW and also crash. Look for updates,

Firefox is still the best browser I must say, it just might be a temporary bug, Mozilla does fix bugs regularly as an alternative if I run into problems with Firefox I just switch over and use Google chrome while I wait for an Firefox update, this has happened to me a few times, Google Chrome is the best for SEARCHING on Google, just type your keyword search terms into the address bar and away you go.Quote from: ameliaj8 on November 09, 2010, 11:09:46 PM

make sure your history is cleaned every week or 10 days, it can make the browser run really slow and also crash.
That's complete nonsense. I have history going back to more then a year ago, through quite a number of versions of FF. I've yet to have a single crash as a result.
Flash is and has always been the main reason for FF crashes. That's also why they added the separate plugin process. Sure, it's designed to work with all plugins, but it doesn't take a genius to know that it's really just for flash, because it's clearly PROGRAMMED by a bunch of fece-tossing monkeys in a zoo somewhere, and debugged by cheese-wotsit loving best-buy managers- and that's a best case scenario. None of my other plugins have been so comically buggy.

Plugins, Add-ons, Themes etc. are far and away the #1 cause of problems people encounter with firefox. "Mozilla Bugs" ("temporary" or otherwise) doesn't even appear on the radar in comparison.

I could ramble on for pages about the THEOLOGY that appears to have developed around browser subcultures.

I had this same problem once and I just removed and re-installed Firefox and then all was right with the world.

Firefox, especially when it is in beta trials for upcoming editions, can act funky at times but it sure is great for SEO.I'm having a lot of problems with Firefox crashing as well. I found one of my problems was with a theme I'm using. I tried cleaning out my browser history offten but that does not seem to help. I found mine will crash sometimes when I have a lot opened at once and after really being slow at first and then crash. Not sure if it's firefox or I need a new computer. :-)

Solve : Unable to connect. Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at?

Answer»

I'm unable to connect to a website called www.bakabt.com.

I've test out the website on my ipod touch using WIFI and on other computers and the website is up. I've also turned my computer back onto safe mode with networking and the website comes up fine. I've also RAN Malware Bytes and anti-virus software. I've also turned off all my firewalls for the duration of the test and the website does not come up.

When I load my windows normally, on any of the web browsers, I'm unable to connect to the website.

This is very frustrating and I WANT to get to the bottom of why exactly this is happening.I moved your post out of the malware forum.all right this is awkward as I have two identical posts on the same forums but my problem still remains unsolved and I've tried everything. The website just wont work on my normal loaded computer rather than safe mode networking computer that allows me to view those websites.

[recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]Most likely, your Eset, MBAM, or PCTools firewalls is blocking the site, for whatever reason.
See, if you can access the site using this address: http://95.211.6.148no i am still unable to access that ip address.

I used EnumProcess to check all my firewalls.
I disabled all my firewalls before and tried accessing that website but I still could not.
People suggested to me that it had to be some malware as i am able to access it in safe mode.Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista), type in:
msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).

Click on Startup tab.
Click Disable all
IMPORTANT! In case of laptop, make sure, you do NOT disable any keyboard, or TOUCHPAD entries.

Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
Click Disable all.

Click OK.
Restart computer in Normal Mode.

NOTE. If you use different firewall, than Windows firewall, turn Windows firewall on, just for this test, since your regular firewall won't be running.
If you use Windows firewall, you're fine.

Same problem?Yes I am now able to visit that website again. So in conclusion it's ONE of the start up programs that is blocking my connection to that website right?

Also to make things more convenient should I keep sorting out what start up programs that don't interfere with that website to allow them to be enabled again?Quote

So in conclusion it's one of the start up programs that is blocking my connection to that website right?
Exactly.
Now, you'll have to investigate, because you can't run your computer in this state. That's for testing purposes only.

Go back to "msconfig" and re-enable all items, except for any items from Eset, MBAM, or PCTools firewall.
Restart computer.
If you still can connect to the site in question, re-enable Eset.
Restart computer.
Connecting OK?
Re-enable MBAM.
Restart.
Still OK.
Re-enable PC Tool.

See, how it goes.Your issue was definitely with your antivirus / malware program.. So you need to stop the protection to avoid this issue.. thats all!

Thank you for some intelligence from someone at last.
Re- the first problem, if you are right, which I assume you are, the problem is insoluble and must be lived with. I now leave that.
I regularly delete these temporary files, both by doing what you say in the options and by simply seeking the files in FAR (a windows idea like Norton Commander) which shows up ALL files including hidden, system and so on (which Explorer does not) and deleting them. I can delete all the folders except one, and in that one I delete the files. (You see from this that I am an old DOS man who has some difficulties with windows and more with the internet, but generally I manage).
I cannot try the other while here, I must first leave the internet, but will try and then let you know.
Thanks again for your help, we'll see if it works. "Nutcase".BC Programmer,
SORRY, this jumped out on me.
In the startup menu there is no mention of `no add-ons', but perhaps I do not have any.
The only extra thing I put in is to use In Private, but I just tried it without this and I still get the message which I have posted earlier, that IE cannot download becasue it cannot find the site.
I am not too clear about add-ons, I presume they have to be actually added and are not things that are marked in any way in the options.
Anyway thank you for trying. If what I have written here is wrong, pleaase let me know.

BC Programmer,

My mistake, I'm using a windows 7 machine and I assumed they would be in the same place on both; I just checked, you should be able to get to it if you
Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

If it's not there, or you cannot find it, you can also Also use Start->Run and enter "iexplore –extoff" (without quotes). Which should start internet explorer without add-ons; then see if you can download anything.

Personally, I don't even use IE at all, and my IE8 is loaded with add-ons; a lot of sites automatically install add-ons as well. Either way, for the most part I'm following a google on the subject which came up with a number of hits (as well as a MS KB article) that said that a common cause of the "Page not found" for downloads was add-ons. I'm not certain of course, but it's a lead worth following I think.

Also, you can see what add-ons have been installed by going Tools->Manage Add-ons.

Explorer can be configured to show hidden and system files. Actually, one of the first things I do after installing a version of windows is change the explorer options.

1. Tools->Folder Options, View Tab

There are a number of options here; I disable "Hide protected operating system files" "hide file extensions for known filetypes" and enable the radio button to "Show Hidden files and folders". This of course isn't to say you should use explorer rather then FAR; this may make those times you do use explorer less aggravating. (I know also it has nothing to do with your original problem but I figured I'd NOTE it anyway)

Sorry I do not seem to manage the quotes thing, but we do not need it.

Regarding Explorer I took your advice, as you say in case I need it. Some of them had already been done, but not all.

I tried IE without add-ons using (as you suggested) iexplore -extoff (I did it correctly because it told me it was working without add-ons) and this made no difference.
It still said that it cannot download because it cannot find the site. I could understand this (without understanding why) if it did not like the sender (gmail or net mail or whoever) or imagines that it was spelt WRONGLY as it suggests, but the really ridiculous part of this is that apart from trying it with an attachment from a friend, I also keep trying it with an attachment that I have SENT (and has been RECEIVED at the other end some time ago) trying to download it from my sent folder in Yahoo. The site is actually there! I am inside it! It does not have to find it! But I still get the same message.
There seems to be no point in testing individual add-ons as the problem does not seem to be caused by them, as it occurs when none of them are being used.
I repeat that in Firefox I can download, but apart from all else which I explained earlier, looking at the Forum I see that Firefox can be very unreliable.
I do not know if you have any more suggestions? Incidentally this again jumped out on me, just this end paragraph, got posted automatically before I finished. I have had to use Modified Message to put this last bit in. I much appreciate your help. N.

Anyone know what the problem is?
Who is your ISP? What speed do they advertise? And have you tested the speed your SELF to see if they are really delivering what they advertise?Quote from: rthompson80819 on October 28, 2010, 05:08:00 PM

How is this helpful? The videos buffer before they play, so a BLANK screen with sound has nothing to do with the persons ISP. Learning the ISP will serve one thing... oh we know the ISP.

I am having trouble viewing videos with my browser.

Example, if I go on youtube.com – I can heard the video fine, but it only shows random frames.

Also on some video sites, it tells me that a script is running slow, and do I want to continue or not.

I tried reinstalling the browsers (firefox), and reinstalling flash, but same problem.

Are you running any sort of adblock on Firefox? This can disrupt videos from youtube and others. This being as most of these sites now run adverts on there videos. I was having the same issue not being able to VIEW videos with Firefox. A few days ago I updated to the latest version of Firefox & the problem is gone. Not sure why it worked but just happy it fixed the problem...Thanx for the tips on the Ad Blocker, and reinstall.

I did update and reinstall Firefox, same problem.

I LOOKED and no ad blocker installed.

Don't know what it could be.What type of internet connection do you have?

Close Firefox. Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode). Same issue?I have Verizon FIOS.

Solve : every web site change generates an IE Error:"IE has stopped working"?

Answer»
90% of the time I open a new website ,no matter whether I am in AVG search or AOL search or IE search to get to the new website, I get an error from IE stating...."IE has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working .Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Then it closes . This has been happening for 2 months and I have spent many hours trying to resolve this issue by myself , with no luck.
Many THANKS for trying to help me.

AVG free edition 2012I do not really see the relationship to AVG and your IE8 browser difficulties. One is a virus protection tool and the other is a browser. If you desire to keep the current version of internet explorer ( then you could try a reinstall of . Also you could install another browser and see what happens. There are many available and people have their personal favorites. After IE the probable most common one is Mozilla (specifically Firefox) . My personal favorite is Opera. Should you desire to try and repair the current installation here is a link to a very good guide to the process.I suggest reading all of it to BEST deal with your issue. An initial step that may get it working again is to disable all add-ons.

truenorthThank you, True NORTH.
I will check the web site you suggested.
(Memo.the only relationship with IE that Avg has is I have the AVG search function and mentioned that , as the problem happens with any of the search bars I try .)
