Solve : YouTube Issues?

Answer»

Hello,

For some reason, whenever I open YouTube's page in Internet Explorer the recommendations appear in the same feed of where all the uploads are, but should be ALONG the right side of the page. In Firefox it exactly does this, and I've tried resetting the settings within Internet Explorer but still no change. What should I do?Quote

... the recommendations appear in the same feed of where all the uploads are ...
I think you need to define what you mean by "recommendations" and "feed" and "uploads" as they relate to youtube.com. I, for one, have no IDEA what you're TRYING to say, and I visit youtube often.

Edit: posting a screen capture would be very helpful.

Edit2: By "uploads", do you mean the Upload button at the top of youtube? If that's what you meant, I was did not recognize it because I've never uploaded to youtube. And, by "feed", do yo mean Subscriptions? As mentioned above that the terms are not clearly understood, other than that, sometimes IE also does these crazy THING of not showing things where it is supposed to.. This is not your individual problem, IE does not follow the standards properly as other browsers does. So, this may be a reason I can guess. If you provide some more clarity, a better solution (if possible) could be given to you...Not to sound "Holier than thou", but, your best option is to probably just scrap Internet Explorer and just use Firefox as your default browser.

Hey ALLAN..
Has it been OFFICIALLY launched or just the BETA version?? When is it launching officially???It is the official launch of 13.FF 13 will disable full Google Toolbar (not the integrated one).
Allan & I use it because it keeps your search history. Googlebar Lite toolbar appears to work.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/googlebar-lite/I had a problem when Firefox upgraded itself from 12 to 13, namely that certain sites wouldn't open, Gmail and Google Groups, Facebook and Amazon. Same in safe mode. I did a search and found that quite a few people were having the same problem. I went back to 12 and disabled automatic update and waited for a fix to become known. Today I saw on the Mozilla forums that it seems to affect Windows 64 BIT systems, and the problem happens if SPDY is enabled. It was disabled by default in previous versions, and FF 13 switched to SPDY enabled by default. Thus encouraged, I re-upgraded to 13 and did this: went to about:config and toggled network.http.spdy.enabled from TRUE to FALSE, then restarted Firefox. Now it's fine. I read that some people needed to toggle network.http.keep-alive to false, too.
Thanks for that ST. I haven't had any issues, but I guess others do / will.I've seen no special issues with Win7-64.Quote from: Computer_Commando on June 08, 2012, 04:04:03 PM

I don't know what SPDY is.

Having it enabled by default is one of the big features of the Firefox 13 release. How to view or change the setting is described in my post above, reply no. 4. You may have missed this.

Since your laptop is in warranty period, you can get it checked to see what is the root cause for your problem. If you think that the ISSUE can be resolved permanently by the technician, then you should go ahead and get it resolved. If you have a doubt about it, better get it replaced to save yourself from any further trouble after the expiration of warranty. Good Luck..!!

Well, there's only 1 latest version at any MOMENT in time. The latest version now is version 12.0.

How many versions did you try? Why did you try different versions? Ah, yeah... very difficult to understand, indeed.

There might be something wrong with your previous Firefox installation. Completely remove/uninstall Firefox as well as manually remove the installation folder in the Program Files and in the profile folder. Since you're using Windows 7, after Firefox uninstallation, go to your windows user profile folder and delete any Firefox remnants there.

It should be at this directory; C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\MOZILLA\Firefoxhard to understand. but you can reinstall firefox.mozila firefox stops working on my laptop too, I have windows 7 pro 64bit edition.coronaadvances,WELCOME to the CH forums.A brief lesson on forum etiquette ,In the case of your post above unless it is intended to show empathy with the original poster (ie:misery loves company) then if you are actually seeking help then you should start your own topic. I'm finally able to load games on Shockwave! Thank you Lisa_Maree!!!

Here's what I did:

I downloaded/installed Mozilla Firefox browser. Then I uninstalled both Adobe Flash Player, and Shockwave Flash Player. Then I restarted my computer, and re-installed both Players. Then opened the Firefox browser, went to Shockwave.com, and it said I needed to install both Players (for some reason). So, I let it install the Players again. After that, I was able to load the game I wanted.

Thank you again, Lisa. I truly appreciate it."

My recommendation should you need to ATTEMPT this suggestion WOULD be to install another browser such as Opera or Mozilla prior to FOLLOWING the suggestion. truenorththanks alot but i am using internet explorer and i dont want to convert to firefox since the same problem appears in all my school computers which also runs internet explorer so i need another solutionI find your response quite intriguing. The self inflicted restraints you are placing on possible solutions is very interesting. I can understand that you cannot alter the parameters of the "school" computers as i am sure that would NOT be permitted. However if your own computer is yours and not the schools i see no reason why you cannot implement the suggestion only if the purpose is temporary to determine if it would alter the outcome. You can always uninstall and revert back to that which is NOT working. If on the other hand it did work then you would be in a position to inform the school tech people and should they be inclined they could apply the same fix to their computers. Is it possible that your school has instituted a process to PREVENT students from playing games on school computers?truenorth

Solve : Problem in Internet Explorer 7 - But works in Google Chrome?

Answer»

I have a Web page hosted by godaddy.com

On one to the pages I have a link to an Excel 2007 macro enabled files (xlsm file)

My setup:
Windows Vista Home Edition and Internet Explorer 7 and google chrome
On the web page - the file is an xlsm files
In google chrome. it downloads as an *.xlms file
In the Internet Explorer 7, it downloads as a zip file

I have a friend who is running Windows 7 and the Internet Explorer 9 and she downloaded the file as an *.xlsm file
I had another *.xlsm file on the same web page and that one also was downloaded as a *.zip file on my computer
I substituted another file (*.txt file) and that OPENED without a problem

Is this a Vista issue, an Internet Explorer Issue or an Excel Issue or a Size issue or a Godaddy.com Issue

It's my web site - and I have filezilla - and got the file USING filezilla.

The first Zip file (from the internet explorer) was some how damaged and I had an error message

I just need to understand what is happening and why.

My question are
(1) who is converting the file
(2) what do other people get when they try and download the file
(3) Should I zip the file myself prior to sending to Godaddy.com

Help

though this doesn't really answer your question, I can tell you that newer office documents use "OOXML", for example, this is .docx, .xlsx, .xlsm, etc.

However, what these files really are is zip files. SOMETHING along the line is looking inside the file and realizing it's "really" a zip file. I couldn't tell you what, but this might provide a CLUE for your investigation.I did some additional checking and the downloaded the second xlsm file.

When I opened it - it was damaged - but Excel was able to repair it in seconds.

I reloaded it - (after it was repaired) back to the server and when I repeated the steps to download the file - it again was converted to a zipped file.

I can confirm this is correct and is probably the direct cause of the issue. This is a problem with Internet Explorer 7 (and some other older versions of Internet Explorer). "Open files based on content" is automatically enabled if using Low, Medium-Low, or Medium security setting defaults.

Go to Internet Options, then open the Security tab, then click "Internet" if it's not already selected.

Click "Custom Level". Scroll down and looking for the option "Open files based on content, not file extension" or something to that effect. Disable this option.

After changing this setting, close all IE7 windows. Reopen and try your download again.

You may also need to change this option for "Local intranet" and "Trusted sites" if the problem persists.
Why are you still using IE7? The current version is 9. You're way behind with your version.

Solve : stack overflow error?

Answer»

Hello

I am getting a 'stack overflow error' when I visit a particular page on a Web site using IE8 (I have Win 7). The error does not appear when I visit the same page using Safari or Chrome.

I have tried visiting the page in 'Safe MODE with Networking', and I have disabled my browser add-ons and AVG anti-virus, but the 'stack overflow error: line 94' still occurs.

What is the best way of dealing with this, please?

High1Quote

What is the best way of dealing with this, please?
You may have the answer already. Do not use the browser that gives the error. Is there a reason you have to visit this page with IE8 and not another browser?
Stack Overflow error is an in eternal error that the user can not regulate with general settings and notions. It is a concern for programmers who design system-level programs. It indicates a design flaw.
There is also the likelihood of the error being bogus, an attempt to get you to use some kind of Trojan to 'fix' the problem. Have you any clue to suspect the nite could be a wicked website?

Hello Geek9pm

No, the site is my own and the files MENTIONED refer to an ASP Web chat (from theill.com) that I downloaded and was free to customise. It uses ASP and JS. If I use IE I get an yellow exclamation mark in the bottom left-hand corner which points to an ASP scripting error and a JS error. I am not too sure about the JS error (but I could get someone to verify it, I think), but I KNOW there is nothing wrong with the ASP line of script that IE sees as an error. There is no yellow exclamation mark if I visit the page through Safari or Chrome.

I was concerned that site visitors using IE would not be ABLE to use the chat. Sorry, didn't realize that it was your site.
An I don't know ASP. So I am not much help there.

If it wee me, I would try dome different things. But not mess up my main site. Likely you have enough web space that you can make another web folder where you can experiment with things.

For example:
If www.mydomain.com is my main page, then I would create a fold called test_only that most users would never try. I would pull it up as:
www.mydomain.com/test_only
and make a bookmark to it.

Next I would take BITS and pieces of the code from the main page and test each element until I find the place where IE8 shows an error.

Also, you should be able to duplicate the problem using your own computer as a local web server.

Solve : Export browser's settings and all the other things on another pc ??

Answer»

Hi ,

In a few days i will buy another new laptop , and i want to move all the stuff from this laptop to the new one.

I was wondering if it is possible to move also automatically, something like a backup, all the stuff from this browser to the new freshly installed browser from the next laptop which i will buy. I KNOW that it may sound crazy but i got here a lot of bookmarks , usernames and passwords stored, a lot of cookies and also another useful things stored in browser history and seasons, plugins and other stuffs.

It will be a pain for me to move all this by hand to the new browser from the next laptop, and for sure i will forget something . This old laptop will be formatted and then resold, so all what is related to the current browser will be lost, and i used it in the LAST 3, 4 years so there are a lot of things here.

I am using Firefox, now i updated it to last version 12.0 and i was wondering i this is possible, it would be very nice if there is a way for this.

I do not know a way for this but may be there is something and i do not know.

Please advice me about this.

Thanks !
You need to qualify exactly what it is you want to be moved to the new PC...
If it's only browser settings then it's real simple...
More info...I want especially to move the bookmarks and the cookies from this pc, so that i will be able to login on all sites on which i created an account until now. See Backing up your [Firefox] information. Basically, you need to locate your Firefox Profile and transfer it to the new computer. You could also use MozBack...Free.For the bookmarks, you could just use Firefox's online sync function, which will keep your bookmarks synced on any number of Firefox browsers (INCLUDING mobile versions, such as Firefox for ANDROID) without having to copy or bookmark them again. As to the rest of the question...
he said: Quote

...move all the stuff from...

You can ALWAYS move all stuff from something.
Getting it to work is a whole issue by itself.

This is by design. MS and most software vendors do not want portable software installations of Windows Desktop computers. The software is licensed for use on one one computer. Only a few companies have a provision for really moving a software program from one computer to another. They make more money by selling you either a new software package or a license to copy the current software to another computer. They don't make any money letting you have a free copy.

FireFox is exceptional.Thank you guys for posting and giving me a solution for this.

Solve : free proxy?

Hi friends.
Where can I find some information about using free proxies?
THANKS

Google !!

Of COURSE that was my first step, but only receive very simple instructions of the type: "CLICK on the Connections tab then click on the Lan Settings button.
In the proxy server section tick the BOX labelled 'Use a proxy server for your LAN'. Put the proxy address in the address box and the port number in the port box then click ok."

that never worked in my case, that's why I'm looking for something else.

But thanks anywayThe Internet has many free proxy servers.

Ok but I'm almost sure that here in my country somehow "big brother" is blocking the use of proxy servers, i've tried to configure different browsers with a lot of free proxies addresses; no results. Even that site is blocked, anyway i've tried Tunnels sites and its working fine for now, i just need to change the site everytime!

thanks pplWe don't know what country you are in. This forum does not help people do things that are banned by law.
For most general cases, .you do NOT configure the browser for a proxy. That feature of IE is nor a specific purpose that differs from what you want to do. I think.
What do you want to do?
Are you using any router or modem with built-in settings that prevent you from getting to certain sites? Are you sure it is a national policy of you country, or is it a policy t of your LOCAL service provider?

Can you read German? There are lots of proxy sites in Germany.
Here is a list in English.
http://www.xroxy.com/proxy-country-EU.htm

Thanks pal!! and don't worry I'm not breaking any laws, there's no written law about internet here, I'm just trying to get to blocked sites by national policy and I'm getting it now using Tunnels. I will try that site too, and thanks again, consider my question solved

Try running it from some Linux distros. Mint 12 still happily proclaims that Firefox 3.6 is the "latest version" using the PACKAGE manager, and the only way to get 8.0 was the build the bloody thing from source. Not something I care to repeat so at 8.0 I stay.

Most of the changes seem to be in the area of HTML5 support. At least that would be my guess.

the BIGGEST... and I mean absolute biggest problem with Firefox has to do with two things.

C++ and Garbage Collection.

C++? Fine. Garbage Collection? Fine. But the nature of the two beasts makes them pretty much incompatible. having to restart Firefox because it's laden with that leftover garbage and sitting at 1.5GB of RAM with a single tab open is downright ridiculous.Quote from: umbra on May 18, 2012, 12:05:19 PM

FireFox does NOT build their addons except in RARE instances...
Therefore they shouldn't be criticised for which ones work or don't...@BC_Programmer , i agree FireFox is consuming a lot of RAM memory... and i have only 2 Gb , it seems to use like a recent strategy game , i was thinking last days to try using another browser and now i am using also Opera to see if it PERFORMS better.

Solve : Outlook Express not responding????

Answer»

Hi,
Hope I have the right forum this time, I've been directed to this site as my Outlook will not open at all, when i click on it I just get the request to send the report to Microsoft, no advise as to why it won't open.

I've done a system restore back a couple of days and that hasn't worked, I've deleted all my cookies and temp files (as advised) that hasn't worked. I’m on Windows XP if that makes a difference.

it was working fine yesterday, then my husband logged into his user, managed to open outlook but it would not send or receive.

If I were to uninstall and re install it (not sure I know how to be honest) I would loose all my emails and addresses wouldn't I???

Hoping someone can help me........

Many thanks

Miriam
Have you got any anti virus/spyware software to scan your system with?

If you uninstall OE then reinstall you wont lose your files - they are kept in a separate place ION your system.

Go to Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> Add/Remove Windows Components> scroll down and remove the tick next to OE - click next and let it complete.

Then reboot your system - go back through the same process to reinstall the tick. Let that complete and then try with OE again.Hi, I've run Norton which says there is nothing WRONG, I've jsut gone into add/remove and done what you said, still makes no difference, still get the error report request, what on earth can be wrong???

MiriamReboot your system and when starting up keep tapping F8.
From the list that comes up use your arrow KEYS and select Safe Mode. Choose XP if asked. Let it run through the screens (you'll get lots of files running down your screen),

eventually you'll get a log in screen, choose Administrator. Try OE again. You won't have internet access but the program should open. If it does try scanning for spyware.

If it doesn't then you may need to REMASTER your system.

There is a virus out at the moment ICF/Sober Worm - I got hit 9 TIMES in different emails but fortunately my system quarantined them before they could do anything.

Try creating a new user account and trying with that one.Hi,
Just to say thanks for your halp, I managed to get it going this morning after downloading Microsoft spy ware...no idea what was wrong but it's fine again now.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Solve : Cut Off Messages?

Answer»

Hello all, hope everyone's well today.

I'm on a Dell DIMENSION 4550.

Here's my problem with IE. My email client is "MYWAY". What happens is often when I exchange several messages with someone using "REPLY", back and forth a few times, the messages I've sent during this exchange get cut off. So, I can't see all that I've written.

Myway says they can't do anything about it and don't have any suggestions. Is there an adjustment I can MAKE to IE?

Thanks!
If the manufacturer says they can't fix it, I WOULD SAY no. That's usually a good tip off to use something else. So, you think it's Myway and not IE? The Myway tech people say they haven't heard of it before--they could be lying.

I thought it was some IE setting. Thank you.silentdrum....Why don't you use Outlook or Outlook Express?

Solve : changing player settings (stupid Apple!!!)?

Answer»

Hey guys, I downloaded apple's quicktime, and it wouldn't play movies, games, or anything of the like, so I decided to uninstall it. Unfortunately, there was no uninstal, so I decided to delete it because everything I try to do AUTOMATICALLY opens onto quicktime. Bad move. It STILL tries to open onto quicktime, so I tried to reinstall it. It didn't work. Then, I tried to fix it, and that didnt work. Base line is... How do I get my computer to either get rid of quicktime or how do I CHANGE my comps settings so the games/movies are opened by something else, like windows media player or realplayer, or something???QuickTime is bad but Real Player is WORSE. I recommend avoiding both at all cost.If APple don't supply a clean up tool try SYSTEM restore to get rid of it.

If you want to change the program used to open a file either right click the file, left click properties and use the 'change' button to select the program.

Or

Open the application you want to use and configure the known file TYPES to open as the default setting.

Solve : IE loads old page?

Answer»

I have XP Home SP2 and IE 6 with all updates. When I use the Ebay editing the listing form, and enter the description, and then display the description in Preview or go to the next page of the form, it shows me the old description and I have to reload the page to get the new one I just made. Even when the listing is FINISHED and I click on the link to the page in Ebay, it shows me the old listing until I refresh the page. This doesn't happen with Explorer on my Windows 2000 computer. What the heck is going on?Never MIND, found the answer on ebay. it's a bug in IE6 that is fixed with one of the latest updates, supposedly. we shall see...nope, he's wrong. I have that update already and it's still not WORKING right.Always start with the latest updates.IE>Tools>Internet Options>GENERAL>Temp Internet Files>Settings

Solve : IE 6 Setup?

Answer»

Hello All

I am trying to get IE 6 intalled onto several Windows 98 SE machines that already have IE 5 on them.

Problem is that when i run setup, it states that "a pervious install requires a REBOOT to complete, please reboot PC", which i do, but when setup is run again, the same message appears.

I have completed this cycle 5 times now, and its not just one PC it happens on.

Any ideas??

Thanks

AndyTry safe mode.

Remove IE 5 firstly and do a clean installation. Use Add remove Windows Components.

XP Lite and 2000 is a great tool to remove unwanted Windows application. I don't know if works for 98.

You can have it's TRIAL version. http://www.litepc.com/
Small program.

Hope Helps. There are several possible causes and a few fixes.

The most COMMON fix is to run the installation in Safe Mode (suggested by microsoft in several cases).

Other fixes are MUCH more COMPLICATED and involve IE5 search and destroy: http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.win98.internet.browser/browse_thread/thread/a0682f2573860132/220e6bae1b03991d%23220e6bae1b03991d?sa=X&oi=groupsr&start=2&num=3

I like to open three IE windows at a time to multitask. Yesterday I downloaded adobe 7 and it closed all the IE windows I was working on. Now I can only work with one IE explorer window at a time, no more multitasking. I am on dial up. What can I do to enable the IE to open up more than one window?

TIA
connieYou STILL Multitask when using a web browser?

Wow. Are you ready for the 80's or what?

Go to http://www.mozilla.org and be enlightened. What does it say when you try to open more windows.I'm not as IE advaced as some of these other fellas but if you are trying to open new windows from a short cut, try this...
From your start MENU, go to "Control panel", select "internet options", click the "advanced" tab and under the "browsing" HEADING you will find a check box for "Reuse windows for LAUNCHING shortcuts" MAKE sure there is no check in the box.

If this helps, then good, if not, sorry.

Solve : Research on Lexjuris?

Answer»

Win XP Mozilla Firefox

I'm doing research on some laws and receiving something like I show below when I MAKE my request:

"/red 0dArt. 1.2 Política pública. (8 L.P.R.A. sec. 601)
doméstica.gif"> que la vmaca. (8 L.P.R.A. sec. 601) Domestica)
In other words, gibberish; like computerized language. Is there a way in which I can configure or do something to get the info in an understanding manner?

Thanks.I doubt the people of Puerto Rico would consider the Spanish language gibberish. Try googling for LEXJURIS and using the TRANSLATE this page link.

Good luck. Believe me, it's giberish. I'm Puertorrican and I know that some of the things are in Spanish and the other parts are computerized language. That's the reason for my query.

I know that, some times, you get that when you have Java disabled but I've it enabled. PERHAPS I'm missing something ELSE. Any ideas?

Thanks.Perhaps you could give us the web address you're having trouble with. I've been to the LEXJURIS site with no problems but obviously I cannot duplicate what you're doing. The errors you posted appear to be straight markup language, so I doubt Java is involved. Are you running the new version of Firefox (1.5)?

Let us know. Win XP Mozilla Firefox

I'm going to Lexjurix.com, then pressing "Codigo Penal", then trying to get Section 94 on and I get the beginning of the page and just after about a 1/4 of the page I start seeing what I'm calling giberish and you call straight markup language. Then, I try "Leyes" and I don't even get anything, just a blank page.

I'm using Firefox 1.7.12 rev.

I mentioned Java because once I had a problem seeing eBay correctly and they told me I needed to correct something about the Java postscript?? And after I did that, all was OK.

Your help is being appreciated, thanks. They sure didn't teach this in high school Spanish.

When I went to Codigo Penal, I couldn't find section 94 but I did find Artículo 94 (same thing?). In any CASE everything was fine. Same with Leyes.

Do you have the Adobe Reader installed as it's necessary to view the text.

Solve : Pushing a button or following a link doesn't appea?

Like when I'm filling out something, and click the next button, nothing happens. It doesn't do that for all web pages, just some. I have no idea whats going on. I even went into the internet settings n toggled the java thing on, and nothing. Does anyone know what the deal is?Is it the same web pages all the TIME or just a random thing?
Have you tried a different mouse, perhaps your mouse button is becoming intermittant.Nope, same web pages. And my mouse works fine. This happenec since I install the Sims 1 on my puter, then installed an import to that one (can't member what to call it RIGHT now. like I have the Sims 1, then I added the Love game to it......GrRRr darn brain freeze!)

But I tried to uninstall both games, but I can't. So since then, I 've been haveing this PROBLEM. *ShRugs* :-/It really doesn't sound related to your sims games, unless of course one of your downloads contained a nasty.
Try these IE settings first...

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. Security TAB
6. Reset all security ZONES to Default

And/or

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. Advanced
6. Restore Defaults button.

You may need to do the following as well

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. General tab
6. Remove cookies, temporary files and history

Kudos to Raptor.

Solve : Not responding - internet explorer?

Answer»

I can connect with no PROBLEM to the internet with internet explorer. Sometimes I get a "not responding"message when I am in the middle of ordering something or just poking around on the internet. It gets very annoying because I have to control/alt/delete to get the window to close and then I have to start all over. What can I do? Free up some space?? I have Norton antivirus, popsubtract, and adware installed. Any help out there???PC Spec.?

Norton Antivirus may have caused it. It use to make my PC slower and slower again.

Use AVG Free . And check for malwares.

ALSO freeing some place may help.

If you are using a dialup service provider, you may have a telephone line problem. The line maybe disconnecting or dropping at times, this could be caused by several things. Can you use a different telephone line or TAKE your pc over to another LOCATION and use the one there? It could also be your service provider? Try to isolate the line connection if you are not having any other trouble.

If you are using the dialup service, does your telephone have call waiting? If so you may have an incoming call that bumps the pc connection and the calling parting may not be getting a connection to your phone after the BUMP.

Solve : automated search (the one in the drop down list)?

Answer»

Um... good day to everyone.
I have a question, its really not that serious
but i will really appreciate it if somebody can help me.

The thing is i clicked this dialogue box (INTERNET explorer)
regarding the 'automated search' i think.
i clicked yes.
and everytime i search for something it SHOWS the previous words i searched.

ex. i typed in 'blue' in google
there's a drop down list of the things i've searched.

Now what i'm TRYING to do is look for that dialogue box
or simply a way on how to remove/reverse that function

because i'm sharing my PC with someone and i don't
think i want them to see all the searches i've MADE.

i hope someone can help me with this. thanks!press F1 and search for autocomplete. Or search the forum here for that term. This gets ADDRESSED on a weekly basis.

Be careful on those risky sites. You can get more than embarassment by visiting.

Solve : opening a HTML file?

After uploading files to a FTP host with the HELP of a FTP client i can see the
DESTINATION folder (where all uploaded files are STORED in the FTP host), and when i click on a
HTML file from that destination folder, it opens in my browser.

But i see the url of that file is pointing a folder in my computer, like c:\Programfiles\.........

Is there any way to open that HTML file by typing a url in my browser, because that file is already in a server.?

I meant to say without using the ftp client, can i get the url of any html file in that destination folder within that FTP server?Somehow, your question doesn't make sense.

You uploaded the HTML files to an FTP server, but the path still says C:\etcetc?

My wife and I both have user accounts on the same PC. Yes.

Explorer works fine on her account but mine will not open IE. Correct.

In am using XP, and IE 6.

I do not remember installing any software around the time this error first started.tenerifepaul..... Do both you and your wife have admin privledges on you user accounts?

This condition just started out of the blue ?

Have you checked for trojans ? .....A good program to try would be Ewido security suite ......( 14 day free trial ) fully functional .

http://www.download.com/Ewido-Security-Suite/3000-8022_4-10326287.html

dl65 dl65

Dowloaded Ewido. It found some spyware, nothing I would consider too serious, and cleaned it all.

No difference. IE still wont open!

Yes the condition did just start 'out of the blue'! I know that seems unlikely but thats pretty much what happened. ONE day it WORKED the next day it didn't!!!!

Next?Still trying to find a solution to this problem. Have USED explorer in my wifes profile to use windows malicious software removal tool. No malicious software. Not suprising since auto updates is running continuously along with anti virus and spyware.

For anyone who is interested I found the solution on another forum. Uninstall google desktop toolbar. That solves the problem immediately. I have since reinstalled it, and IE is working fine. Unfortunately none of my games will work now...................a totally unrelated issue! All of those toolbar "enhanacements" are a bad choice in my opinion. Some are downright dangerous.

Thanks for the FEEDBACK tenerifepaul, it will help others along the way.
I've been using the Google toolbar for some time now & never had a problem with it.

Solve : I.E. is not longer opening the websites at first t?

Answer» I.E. is not longer opening the websites at first try…
Happens with any URL but not always

Until a week ago it was working perfectly then for some unknown reason to me it stopped opening the websites when asked for. Some TIMES it only opens a URL after REPEATED “Enters” or “Go”. It’s the first time that this happens to me, I imagine that it might have to do with the DNS but not 100% sure. I did clean all cookies, registry and used 3 different Spy cleanners as well.

Any advice on how to get it to work again?

Thanks,

MJ

It does sound like a net/server slowdown.
Does it 'timeout'?

Do these anyway just to be sure.

Online Virus Scan and Spyware Scan

Highly recommended second Online Malware Scan

Solve : Browser settings help?

Answer»

I am a new comcast user, and haven't been able to change my email address on Yahoo. I keep getting a MESSAGE that says 'Your browser will not allow autmatic redirection to new URL. CLICK here". When I click here, nothing happens except a 'done with errors on page' message at the BOTTOM of my screen. I went to IE tools and even reset everything to LOW and allow all and that hasn't helped either so I went back and restored the default settings. Still nothing. I never had this problem before but I have been trying to correct it for over a week without success. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.I assume that you are using Windows XP SP2 with Internet Explorer 6.0?

If you have SP2, did this problem happen before you INSTALLED SP2?

When you say that you restored the default settings, did you click the Advanced tab and choose "Restore Defaults"? Or are you talking about the "Reset Web settings" on the Programs tab? Try the "restore defaults" button on Advanced if you haven't tried that.

Do you have any other security program running? I know that Spybot has some "IE Safe" feature that always looked shady to me.

You could always try reinstalling IE6:

Are you saying that the DSL modem has a USB connection? I would try using a patch cord and connecting the DSL modem to the LAN port on the NIC RATHER than in one of the USB ports. I've never had good experiences with using the USB functionality of cable and DSL modems.

Also please post more details about the PROBLEM. Can you ping websites? What do you get when you do an ipconfig? Do websites says "page cannot be displayed"? DL65's questions should be answered too.thanks for helping, not sure what I did but everything seems to be working for now.

Solve : IE 6 will not load AltaVisa.com?

Answer»

Actually that was the first place I CHECKED when I first noticed the PROBLEM a few weeks ago. Checked again but there is no entry even CLOSE to altavista or an inclusive wildcard EXTENSION. Also I haven't just installed these spyware, malware programs I use them REGULARLY and recomend them to my customers, as I do computer troubleshooting as a side business for individuals. I've noticed I can amend the http line and I can access altavista/help however. :-/
