Solve : Opening Emails?

Answer»

I am UNABLE to open emails using Internet Explorer on my PC. I cant open AOL or Comcast. On some occasion I get kicked off Internet Explorer altogether. I am using a wireless adapter. Any help WOULD be appreciated.Do you have Outlook or some other emailler installed?

When I open email in IE it automatically GOES to the other mailler.I really dont KNOW. I used to use AOL but I recently switched to Comcast. I cant open any emails from either of them. It gets me to the subject & addressee but when I go to open the mail it kicks me out.Check with Comcast to see if they have experience with this. (I'll bet they do.)

Solve : Security Settings prevent from downloading?

Answer»

Reset IE to the defaults & go from there. You know what? I followed Fed's suggestion and installed Firefox. It open that URL using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 immediately, in no time and without "hesitation".

Question now is WHY IE COULDN'T?I never suggested Firefox, it's for girls.

I'm sure you didn't reset all the IE defaults.

Then I said Quote

I added *.navidadlae.terra.es to my trusted sites and it's all good.

Your RESPONSE Quote
I just put the *.navidadlae.terra.es as "ALLOWED" in my private sites

No idea. I stopped using Internet Explorer a long time ago and I never spent much time thinking about its shortcomings. Sorry for the confussion, Fed.

Well, even THOUGH I did what you suggest (resetting IE to the defaults) before asking for help in this forum, I did it now again. Only thing I got is the option of dowmloading the file using DAP, and immediately afterwards I got what you can see in the attached screenshot.

When using Firefox, it uses Adobe Acrobat 7 and show me the result in no time.It looks like Raptor left out one of the default settings.
Below is the new revised list.
I [highlight]highlighted[/highlight] the earlier missing one for you.
Please try them with IE and tell me how it goes.

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. Security tab
6. Reset all security zones to Default

5. Advanced
6. Restore Defaults button

You may need to do the following as well

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Internet Options
5. General tab
6. Remove cookies, temporary files and history

No, that wasn't it. :-?OK, I just set all my options to the defaults and like you still couldn't access the site.
The only way I can get there is to put *.navidadlae.terra.es into the trusted sites list.
Now to find out why. Found it! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

*.terra.es is in my Restricted Sites.

For some REASON it is the IE default.

Solve : Repetitive IE Script Error?

Answer»

First time posting. I receive a repeating IE script error when I search for music on Windows MEDIA Player 10. This script error just started yesterday. I have a PC with Windows XP.
The error is as follows and happens when I do a search for music on the media player.
IE Script Error
Line : 2
Char: 62
Error: Blocked referrer is undefined
URL: http:music.msn.com/search/all

I have gone into IE under options and then advanced. I have ticked the boxes related to script debugging and unticked the notification about every error....any suggestions? This is most annoying.
Thanks for anyone with advice.Reset the Advanced settings tab to default.

Also make certain that you have the latest version of Internet Explorer installed. Thanks for the reply Roofvogel but it did not work. I did as you suggested and CONTINUE to get the error. I do have the most current IE browser. I always update my computer (its automatic) and take great pains to make sure it is safe (firewall, virus scanner, etc.).
I find this an absolute puzzler. Any other IDEAS? cloust.... What happens if you open WMP ....and click on Library ........does it not give you a list of music you have on file ?

dl65 Try clearing your temporary, history and cookie folders.dl65: yes, the info is there. It happens only when I connect to the online msn music store. I then get the script and click "yes", I want to continue. I continue to get the script no matter what I do or what I click, as long as the online music store is going.
Clearing out TEMP files, cookies, history and so on does not DETER this annoying message. I do appreciate everyone's imput into this puzzle.

Solve : internet explorer will not load google?

Answer»

hey everyone, newbie to the forum. got a small little problem. my physics teacher cannot access google from her machine. its running WINDOWS 98 se, and it has the latest updates for ie. also netscape cannot reach google. every other machine in the SCHOOL can reach google, its only hers, and it has loaded google before, but recently has stopped loading it, as an A+ cert tech, first thing i asked her is "when did it stop working and what were you doing/did?" well she didnt know, ive looked on microsofts knowledge base, ive looked everywhere, and to no avail, there is no ANSWER...if anyone has an answer pleeeeeaaaaase tell me now lol, thanx guysWell as a tech you have done your first job. And let me ask you the second one. Have you checked for malwares ? Use anti -virus, adware, spyware etc.. At this forum there's a great freeware security tool list. Just give a search.

Let us know.Try to access Google via its IP address, http://64.233.167.104/.

If you can access the site that WAY but not through the domain name, you have a DNS problem. Try clearing the DNS cache by opening up a command prompt and typing ipconfig /flushdns

Check to make sure that Google is not part of her computer's restricted sites in the Internet Properties.

Does she get a message or a blank screen?
What happens?alright, got back in school yesterday...and she wasnt there, today...wasnt there...so im hoping shes there tomorrow... if she is, then ill do the spyware/adware search, ill flush the dns...and btw there is an error message ONLY when trying to access it through netscape...internet explorer just acts gay and gives me the page cant be displayed bullcrap lol. so tomorrow i should be able to do all this, and ill let ya know, thanx for the help guys, and if it doesnt work, then if ya have any other ideas...feel free to tell me lol.ok ive figured out the problem, it is the DNS. i type in googles ip address, and it works just fine. but the ipconfig /flushdns does not do anything. the problem is still there. when i try to open google via its name through internet explorer, it SAYS the page cannot be displayed, but in netscape, it says "The document contains no data." any more suggestions? especially after finding out it IS a DNS issue? You may be getting redirected to a site that has since been removed.

Solve : some web pages no long work?

Answer»

all of a sudden one day i wake up, and i'm not able to sign into my bank account online, check certain email, or go onto different sites, because a no page able to display page comes up. It's a problem exactly like Marg's, she how ever has got her computer to work, and i can't because i'm not sure i know wat to do wat she did. I've done everything, tried fifty diffent spyware, virus and adware programs. rebooted, cleaned all the disk, and still nothing. well she reset her computer back to when it was workin fine and used her spyware and found a trojan horse. does neone know how to do that, or a nother solution to fixin it? plz helpwheedleus....... Ok ....here's how to do that .......BUT , have you RUN a scan with Ewido ...it's very good at finding trojans .....
http://www.download.com/Ewido-Security-Suite/3000-8022_4-10326287.html
it's a fully working 14 day TRIAL .....

..... Before you attempt to use system restore ......... here's what I would suggest. This info applies to win XP ........

Reboot your computer into Safe mode .....( REPEATEDLY tap the F8 key ) it should now begin to load in safe mode .......it will look completelydifferant the a normal start up ....... you will be given several options as to how you WISH to start ...... select SAFE mode ........
Then once its finished loading , run a complete scan with your anti virus ( which should be up to date ...... ) then if you have Spybot installed , I would run that as well . Do the same if you have M/S antispyware installed ........
if you system appears to be clean we can move on to the next step.........
System restore. Click START/All programs/Accessories/system tools/system restore. when the new window opens ..... CHOOSE ...restore my computer to an earlier time ........ click next .........then using the calendar choose a date which is in (bold) and is just before your issue started .......then click next .....it should do its thing and then give you the message that your computer has been restored ....bla bla bla ......
Then close that up and your good to go........
A word of caution when using system restore .......it should not be used if you think you may have a virus or trojan in residence because ...these pests love to hide in the system restore files ......... and then when you do a restore ....the pc may become infected all over again.

let us know how you make out .

dl65
ok, thank you for the help, i'm gonna try it and see if it works. i have one question...if i do the system restore will it delete nething i have on the computer like music?wheedleus....... No , I think it will leave those alone ........

Solve : Computer Automatically Disconnects from Internet?

Answer»

I have a Dell Dimension 8100 PC, Pentium 4, 1.3 Ghz, 256MB RAM, 60 Gig hard drive running on Windows ME and Internet Explorer 6.?. I access the internet using Cox broadband cable. My problem is that my PC automatically and consistently disconnects from the internet 60 minutes from the time I power up the PC. If I power up, WORK off line for say 30 minutes, then go on the internet, I will lose my internt connection 30 minutes later. Happens like clockwork. When I attempt to reconnect, I receive the message "This page cannot be DISPLAYED". I do NOT have this problem when I use my Dell Inspiron 1100 Laptop running on Windows XP. Consequently, I don't think it's a Cox problem, but rather a problem with the Dell 8100, but not being very computer savvy, I have not been able to figure out a solution.May it be the options :
1.Disconnect if idle for X minutes or
2.Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed

(Control Panel-->Internet Properties-->Connections-->Settings-->Advanced) ?mike n.... Has it always been like this on the Dell Dimension 8100 PC ?
Has this pc ever been used with a dialup connection ?

dl65 Start>Settings>Control Panel>NETWORK & Dialup connections.
Double click on your connection & check Properties>Options, you will see the problem there.Quote

The problem began a couple months ago.
No, this PC has never had a dial-up connection, in fact, it has no dial-up modem, just broadband cable.

Solve : Can't load the following pages.?

Answer»

I know someone has had a similiar problem, but it's not exactly LIKE mine.

When I try to load these pages (there are others but I can't remember), the loading bar fills up, then the browser DISPLAYS "Done" at the BOTTOM left hand corner, and nothing has happened at all. Nothing was displayed, not even "The Page Cannot be Displayed".

Here are the sites.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
http://www.engadget.com
http://newtech.aurum3.com/content/view/64/18/
http://www.joystiq.com/

Is there anything in common with these sites, just please help me, I've been using this crummy Gollum browser thing for Wikipedia, and I can't access some forums either. So you can't access them, or can't access them with this browser? The Gollum browser is only for browsing wikipedia, the only reasing I'm using that is because I can't access wikipedia. GOOGLE Gollum and you will see what its about.

Im using IE 6.0, and it doesnt open those pages, just completely forget the Gollum browser, thats not a web browser. What about with Firefox, or with Opera? You need to see if it is a configuration problem or a network issue. Do you have all of the IE updates? What happened prior to this if it used to work normally? What spyware/adware/virus solutions are in place and being used regularly?I cant want to download a new browser anyway so whats the point in using it on that. I have all IE updates. I can't remember what happened because after about 2 weeks I went to CHECK Wikipedia for research and it didn't work. I have NTL antivirus, spybot search and destroy, and windows pop-up blocker (i think that's adware)Try AdAware for free in addition to those others and keep everything up to date. You may want to scan in safe mode also.

That does not completely remove IE; it merely removes access to IE from the Start menu and Desktop. IE can't be completely removed; it's too tightly integrated with the OS. But, just because it's there doesn't mean you have to use it. And, it doesn't prevent the user from installing another browser and using it as the default browser.

Not exactly true. That's what Bill Gates claims but these guys proved DIFFERENTLY a long time ago!

Well, they say they can completely remove Outlook Express, but they make no mention of Internet Explorer. Anyway, if the shortcuts/icons to IE are removed, why does it matter whether IE is not completely removed? No need to even think about it. Just install your browser of choice and use it. I used the Win98 version and it took that puppy COMPLETELY out of there, FYI. I found it to be an amazing product.

The idea of not using it though is always a good one, except for the few sites that require it.

Solve : Explorer Toolbars?

Answer»

When I launch Explorer from my short cut on the desk top or from the status bar at the bottom of my screen it OPENS only with an address bar, I have tried to change it thru my control panels and right clicking and going to properties, and right clicking on where the TOOL bars should be and either I am not given any OPTIONS to change it or when I right click none of the options will highlite when I put my curser over them.

I have the same problem with my desk top background. I have some kind of spyware warning on my background. I figured these problems were being caused by either a virus or spyware and have installed PC Tools Anti-Virus and SpyWare Killer Pro but even after running these programs I still have these problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You.I have never heard of those programs, so if you didn't pay for them, lose them now. Have you visited Control Panel Add and Remove Programs to see what kind of crappola is there? If any kind of Toolbar is listed, lose that also.

Now you do need to remove all of the spyware/adware/viruses.

Solve : Firefox / IE default browser??

Answer»

Forgive me if I missed this topic, I checked and couldn’t find it, but I need help. I’m using XP with IE 6.0, and I prefer to use Firefox as the main browser. I have tried to make the option setting in each of these browsers to provide Firefox as the “preferred” one and for some reason IE continues to open after I dialup to the provider. Help.. I know I’m just MISSING something very simple that I don’t have checked or UNCHECKED.

I don’t want to uninstall IE as I may need it from time to time for special reasons of updates etc. but I do want to have it remain unopened on the desktop. Firefox will open ok after I click the desktop icon.

Any help is always appreciated as always. :-?

Who is your ISP? Have you checked with them? Do you have to use their special dialup software?At&t.net is the provider and yes I do use their software for dialup,
however I don’t know if I must use their dialup software. :-/I don't know for sure but I'll bet you don't need to use it. Just create your dial-up connection account in Windows and use it to connect. If you need to find an access number, see http://help.att.net/iw/ci/access_numbers.jsp?platform=none.

I've seen the same situation with Earthlink. They give you the impression that you must install their TotalAccess software, but it's really not necessary. Thanks SOYBEAN it was a good idea however I can’t find ANYTHING in the book with the Firefox that will allow it do setup dialing out for the provider. I also can’t find it in the options windows. :-?Use the Windows 'Internet Connection WIZARD'.Quote

Solve : My machine is acting up again. I have two different issues:?

Answer»

My machine is acting up again. I have two different issues:
1.Whenever I try to use Internet explorer it frequently freezes up for several seconds. It will not respond to any of the mouse clicks on web sites. However it will respond to mouse clicks pertaining to other operations, like closing a tab or "Cntrl-alt-delete" or I can start an "on board" game or app. But when I go back to the browser it starts its little game of freezing up again. It also does it while using other browsers but mostly on Internet Explorer...
2.Every time I boot up I get messages telling me that I have BEAUCOUP errors from one or many of these sources. PC Optimizer, Regservo, and/or Smart PC Cleaner Are any of these any good?? I know they want me to purchase teh product but I am gun shy of all of them.

Can any one help me out with one or both of these issues?? Thank you for reading this,
Related to your #2 issue i would remove (add/remove programs) all 3. You can do them one at a time (start with the regcservo one) and continue until all three are gone and note if improvement occurs. If there is one or more of them you feel you cannot be without then provided it wasn't a factor in your issue you can download it again (they are all free software programs i believe). Others may differ but not one of the 3 you mentioned i believe are of any value and in fact could be running things on your computer to your detriment.truenorth truenorth Thank you for your response. I thought that I had done that with PC Optimizer Pro. I'll try again. THANKS againStay away from registry cleaners, speed booster or optimizer softwares. Check for removal tools available online such as this one http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-pc-optimizer-pro.htmlThanks Jason; I ran
http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-pc-optimizer-pro.html
I let it scan and it came up with over 1000 PROBLEMS but then it WANTED $40 to fix them. Being the suspicious character that I am I deleted the whole log. Felt like another optimizer software.
Meanwhile another thing has happened to my Internet Explorer. It will no longer COME up with the web sites that i set in "Internet options". Something cancels out that effort. I have to go to Chrome or Firefox to even get my email from Yahoo.

Truenorth: Thanks. I did as you suggested before i ran 2-spyware.com. My machine is acting a little better but not much. Seems like the "screen freezes" are shorter but they still occur.Think it is time to mossy on over to the virus/malware forum and put yourself in the experts hands over there.truenorthtruenorth: OK thanks, I agree. I suspected it was an Internet Explorer problem but I guess it is broader that that. I guess I have to end this thread first. Thanks again

Not SURE exactly what you want to do, but you can publish Word and Excel files to the web. Take a look in HELP (both Word and Excel) and do a search there on publish to web. Here's a little example of an Excel FILE I put on the web: http://www.derolph.net/Mom80thCosts.htm

Solve : Please help. Is this possible??

Answer»

I was on my boyfriends computer and went to his history on his browser, which was completely blank. But there was something that said "Most Visited" or something like that and it took my to craigslist personals. I noticed that the links were purple (meaning visited) and as RECENTLY as the day before. He gave me the following explanation (3 days later) and I'm wondering if there's any validity to what he's saying...

"Internet EXPLORER 7, which I currently USE because when I got into school, I had to change my operating system to Vista...because that is what they were teaching. IE7 is the default browser for Vista. I haven't changed....ONE because I like it. It's faster than anything newer...because it doesn't have all of the add-ins that come bundled with more current browsers.

It is the first browser with TABBED browsing. Unfortunately...like newer versions, IE7....will not auto-fill the TOP URL block, unless is is a FAVORITE. What it does do though....and they have since fixed it....is ANY URL entered into the top search bar is saved not only in HISTORY, but also in JAVASCRIPT cache, which is part of SERVER 2008, which I also had installed becasue of school. Because of this...anything that is put into the top URL bar is saved in Javascript cache, and will therefore autofill if you've been there before. Unfortunately...scripting saves a small picture of the site, the exact picture of the last time you were ON the site. So anyone that put that into my computer, since Fall of 2008 has profanity removed by Allan me, and made my girlfriend think I'm a liar...and I am so not.

That means anyone that has been on my computer, and gone to Craigslist that exact way....would get the page you saw. It's a picture of the script it took to get there at that time. It would take you to the page...current page, but still look like you had just been there. Even after closing the browser, and not saving history. HISTORY is different...it saves COOKIES into temperary internet files folder.

This is why you saw what you saw."1. Don't you trust your boyfriend?
2. Please don't use language like that.
Maybe i have an impairment of some kind that is muddling up the O/P's post . But i have a difficult time UNDERSTANDING who is speaking here. Is it the boyfriend or the girlfriend? The issue seems to evolve around something the "girlfriend" has come across while using a computer that her boyfriend also uses and she doesn't like what she has found. Is that the issue? If so i think she is on the wrong type of forum. Primarily here we gather our discussions around matters pertaining to technology. Or is it that this new found information she has found leads her to believe there could be more information within the computer and she is seeking our assistance to find a way to access that data?truenorth

Solve : Playing youtube through low bandwidth 200k to 750kb/s - PreCache??

Answer»

I am at a hotel that offers free wifi with option to pay to get higher bandwidth. I dont want to pay $7 for 24 hrs of 4Mb/s bandwidth and when everyone hits the free internet at the same time the available bandwidth plunges from the 750kb/s that they state to sometimes as little as 70kb/s but averages 200kb/s when everyone is online evenings. I was wondering if there was a way to precache the playback of youtube so it doesnt play for 5 seconds and stop for 15 sec etc?

I have Firefox as my main browser on this laptop. I thought that if I would start the video play and pause playback that it would continue to download the ENTIRE video, but the download stops after about 49 seconds is downloaded.

*Is there a size that needs to be adjusted SOMEWHERE maybe in browser etc to download the entire video for playback after its fully downloaded without using a tool like Youtube Downloader which is questionable legalities based on what you download etc?

Would rather not use YTD to play videos. At this hotel for a week on systems training, so would be neat to find a way to be patient with the limited free bandwidth and be able to play the videos after they are fully downloaded to temp file etc for play.

Too bad I cant connect with multiple wifi connections since they have 3 different open wifi zones in range to multiply bandwidth with USB wifi NICs...LOL

Update: Added a pic of the hotels offer blanking out their name etc. If my employer was paying for internet, I'd live it up, but cant see paying in 7 days what I pay almost for a whole month of my current broadband plan at home.

[year+ old attachment deleted by admin]I usually just start the video...then pause it and grab an adult beverage of my choice...
You will notice by doing this when you come back the progress bar is at the end...depending on the connection speed of course.Tried setting video on mute and play till end and then go back to it and use slider bar to bring the video back to like 1 second mark to play from and after I get about 1/2 way back I notice that the grey area that shows the content is downloaded is lost as if it dumps to grab new information off the web if you try this. Tried this on 3 different videos with same results.

I then tried instead of moving slider bar on the youtube playback window to instead click the play again circle icon on the bottom left and this also dumps the cached content and forces new information to be downloaded. Pause the video and wait for it to buffer. Exactly as Patio said.Just wanted to state that this is now closed. For some reason short videos you could pause and when finally downloaded/buffered you could unpause and play them, but videos that were greater than like 10 MINUTES long when moving the slider bar back to 0:00 from say 15:43 it would lose over 1/2 of the information, so it would play fine for like 7 minutes of the 15:43 and then cartwheel as its trying to re-download the information off of youtube etc.

Fortunately I am no longer at the hotel and am back home on high speed internet and so the problem is GONE until I face this issue again at some point. This MIGHT help though Ive never tried this feature so cant vouch for it http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2009/06/browsers-cache-youtube-videos.html - For next time lol

Unfortunately, neither way has WORKED well. For example, only some parts of my gmail page got bigger, while other parts are still tiny. Can anyone assist?! CHANGING the font sizes on the other hand only affects areas with text.

Alternatively if you have no scroll whell use the + -- keys while holding CTRL.Have you tried going to "view"( on the toolbar) on the site OPEN and seeing what it currently shows under "zoom" as to size (expressed in a percent). If 100% is ACCEPTABLE then click on that and should do it. truenorth

Solve : Internet Explorer 10 is quite fast in my new laptop with Windows 8?

Answer»

Well FOLKS, after my 5 1/2 year old laptop died a few weeks ago, I bought an HP notebook PC on Feb. 21; it has Windows 8 which comes with IE 10. I have not installed any other browser yet. I must say IE 10, on this NEW system, is rendering WEB pages quite fast. I might stick with it for now on this computer.

By the way, I read somewhere earlier today that MS is releasing IE 10 (a final release, not a beta version) for Windows 7 soon. Available now: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Microsoft_Internet_Explorer_10.0_Final_d6896.html

Solve : I.E. vs. firefox?

Answer»

I use WINDOWS 7 & I.E. 8

I'm really tired of I.E. 8 & it's hangups ! There's days when I get a lot of : "internet explorer can't display this message" & when i tried to download I.E. 9, I get a message that it isn't available. Is Firefox any BETTER ? You should have gotten IE 9 long ago via Windows Updates. Are you getting your Windows Updates every month? Do you have SERVICE Pack 1 (SP1) installed? Download Firefox and try it for yourself. You can use as many different browsers as you like - Firefox doesn't replace IE - you can EVEN use them at the same time.

Also, IE 10 has been released - if you're going to upgrade go directly to the latest version. I do get updates for I.E. Maybe I've just been slacking..should get I.E. 10 & probably firefox, too. Its best to update IE to latest to protect yourself from any exploits that might be out there for prior versions that have been resolved.

I have my IE to latest just to plug potential for security holes and applications that may call to IE browser functionality. But I run Firefox as my browser of choice. It has good features as well as good protective features to avoid virus infections from downloads etc that are immediately scanned at download.

Solve : Images/Video will not load?

Answer» HI,

I am desperate... Been trying to fix this for 2 hours, been searching Google, and I am all out of ideas.
1 website, whenever I visit it, shows up completely with all tekst on the left side. (see image in attachment).

I have this problem in Explorer, Firefox, Chrome AND Safari... And also have it on my second laptop.
Anyone have ANY idea what so ever what I can do to fix this? Other people can see the website fine, and I've updated my flash, java and browser to latest versions. Also have the latest Windows 7 updates.

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]Not saying it's the cause...but it may be on their end...do other webpages load CORRECTLY ?EVERY single other webpage loads correctly, and the site loads correctly for 2 (foreign) persons I know too.

However, I changed my proxy to another country tonight, and then the site loads normally (slow, but normal).

So with my normal IP it doesn't WORK, but other country proxy it does load... Very strange.Only logical reason it wont load properly without the proxy would be either a ban or kick on your end...or location
Having it work thru a proxy ...and not normally has added to the equation and variables so without knowing the specifics that's all i GOT.

Solve : Proxy Service?

I was trying to log in to a site I get the message account access is restricted or using a proxy service.
I wrote and got a response back **Official message from Customer SUPPORT** The type of proxy you are using is blocked on our site. My question is what is proxy is this part of the browser and how do you fix a problem like this?

John

If you are connected to someone elses website wifi etc, and get this message then you may be being protected from monkey in middle hack to steal acct access from you.

If you installed a LOCAL proxy and now find a website blocking access through a proxy, then you need to not use the proxy and CONNECT DIRECTLY to the website.

Quote

The type of proxy you are using is blocked on our site
They detect a proxy either locally in your control or somewhere between you and the website.Chance it may be an infection as well...
In IE...go to Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN SETTINGS.....is use proxy checked or no ?I should mention I use Firefox 3.6.28 on AOL dialup if this make a difference.

You might find the solution at http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/websearch/9JPM-CF2KJUAbout two weeks ago I upgraded (?) to IE11. Several problems occurred.

1) I use three GADGETS on my desktop - they would not display properly.
2) Certain software I use BEGAN to malfunction. I checked with one of the software suppliers and they indicated IE11 gave their system bugs. They suggested I uninstall IE11, which would cause my pc to revert to IE10.

I did the uninstall and all of the problems disappeared.

Solve : Embedded .mp3 won't play in FireFox.?

Answer»

Hi there. I have a website with an index page that has a short embedded .mp3 that starts automatically - in Internet EXPLORER. It won't play in FireFox. I have tried the "Applications" tab in the Tools menu, to no avail. Anyone know what I have missed?

Thanks! There are different ways to embed a audio file into a web page.Could you provide a bit of the code i n HTML? Or is it JavaScript?here's the top lines of the page:

Code: [Select]<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<embed SRC="http://www.cerwin-vega-fans.com/files/cv-intro.mp3"
width=0 height=0 autostart=true repeat=false loop=false> </embed>MP3 does not work in Firefox unless you have some plug-in that will handle it.
One way ins to install QuickTime from Apple. The Windows version.

If Java is used for SOUND, if can not be MP3.

A player can be put on the server. Or you can embed and object that plash MP3. Often a Flash or Shock wave file.

EDIT: A few months ago this was on Mozilla:
Firefox no longer plays embedded MP3's.Alrighty. Thannks for your TIME and knowledge. I appreciate it.You might consider getting thing you can put in the page. If is a KIND of Flash application
It lets user stop or reset the music or voice Iver. I have used wimpy MP3 player.

Solve : Uninstall and install Firefox? IE unstable??

Answer»

I had gone to Firefox for a while, but began getting the malware "Critical update" There were also times like now, when I would click on the icon and it would say Firefox is already running, please close to open. And I would get the same thing. So I'm back to using IE because there is a program with IE I have to use to get remote access at work. As far as browsing, it is terrible. It is slow, and sites FREQUENTLY freeze up and I get the "not responding" message. Is this what is meant as unstable? So my question is, should I completely uninstall Firefox and reinstall and try again? Will I be able to find the favorites I had been saving under Firefox originally? Thanks. -I'm running windows 7What app you runnin that requires IE ? ?

Those critical update popups ain't FireFox...so i would update and run all your protection apps ASAP.The site is through the Dept. of Veteran Affairs, to get through to the hospital from home. It's called VA Citrix Remote Access. It was suppose to be set up through IE. I was under the assumption it wouldn't work with anything else. I know the updates are malware. I ran a program to get rid of them but it didn't work. I have anti virus and I ran malwarebytes, but haven't really been able to run Firefox since. Site runs fine on FireFox...but i would get your system cleaned up 1st

Visit our Malware Section of the Forums and start a Topic...they'll fix you up...I ran a malware program and also the iola mechanix program. Deleted Firefox and REINSTALLED. Worked for a little while, but got the message about Firefox still running in the background. Going to task MANAGER, end firefox processes did not help. The problem is when I went to shut down, the blue circle just kept spinning, it would not shut down. There were no programs to force close. What should I do about this? I had to manually hold down the button on the tower to shut it down to restart. what version and channel of FF are you running?

I just loaded comcast.net (YEAH< CABLE MODEM SPEED) when i click on IE it automatically goes to the comcast ppage but when my husband opens his acct and clicks on IE it sends him to our old MSN acct. so I went to tool and internet options tab but it says "operations have been cancelled due to restrictions on this computer" How do i change this?If you want to have SAY msn as your home PAGE.......tools /internet options.........type the home..page you want.......or you may wish to try the ..spyblaster...most isps seem to like their own ..browser displayed??Thats the problem. When I click the internet options link it states that i have an error "that this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions on this computer" How do I lift the restrictions?GO onto your account which is probably an admin account go to control panel - users accounts - change and account and make SURE his account is not a limited account, which is why this is probably happening, change it to an admin account.

Solve : IE page wrapping??

Answer»

Hi I'm NEW here and I wonder if THERES any chance of some kind person helping me with this problem.

I've got a new computer and IE wont make the page fit to the window, if I've favourites open or something else then I have to scroll accross to see the whole page. My old computer made the pages fit to the window.

theres probably a very simple explanation but I'm a technobimbo and not too hot on problem solving.

any help much appreciated :grin:Hello, Yogi.

Can you tell me the resolution both computers are set to?

You can check the resolution by doing the following:

1. Right click on the Desktop
2. Select properties
3. Go to the settings tab.the new computer screen is set to 800 x 600 pixels. old computer dead so I can't check - sorry.

I dont have problems viewing anything else, its just IE that is too big for the screen.

This forum is OK on the screen but others dont fit... and my WEBMAIL page REQUIRES me to scroll acrossHave you installed videocard drivers?

Try setting your resolution to 1024x786, if your other computer was of recent make it will most likely have used this resolution.

Solve : "Internet Explorer Script Error"?

Answer»

Great site. I did a search through the forums and found some other script problems, but I'm not sure if they're all having the same problems that I am having.

I have a repeating box that comes up about every few minutes, whether I am using internet explorer or not. It occurs anytime I am on the internet. Here are the DETAILS:

Internet Explorer Script Error

:exclamation An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Line: 11
Char: 1
Error: Object expected
Code: 0
URL: file://C:\Documents and Settings\Billy Westom\Local Settings\Temp\NDr681.tmp.html

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

(yes or no)

I went to this folder and deleted everything but these pages continue to regenerate. The number in the URL of the file is always different.

I would appreciate ANY HELP I can get. The customer service of Compaq is no use. Thank you. This might help: How to Troubleshoot Script Errors in Internet Explorer.Download, install & update...

Solve : "Downgrading" IE?

Answer» OK, I have what is PROBABLY a dumb question that has been answered here before but honestly I can't find it and I only have one life to live so I'll just start a new one:

If you have the newest VERSION of IE, can you uninstall it and get you 6.0 or what have you back? I haven't got the new version myself 'cause I am an Opera man but someone I know asked me this. He hates the new version and wants 6.0 back. I try to help him out with his computer questions but since you guys can probably do everything I can and more, I'll throw it up here. He has a Dell with XP if that helps. Thanks in advance.

The next you type in the same thing but before you GET to FINISH a drop down LIST appears and gives suggestion on what you MAY want to write. So, I was looking for the directory in which this data is saved. Thank you for help That list in just Chrome... That's just on the Google site.

Solve : Can anybody help me? (Not a serious issue)?

Answer»

I've checked Myspace recently, and noticed that the images for the new videos on the MAIN page (which appears when I'm LOGGED out) do not APPEAR. This was caused by a program I had installed earlier and LATER removed. The program was Adsgone. I suppose you're familiar with it? I need to find a way to get those images to appear again. Only trouble is, while all this was happening, I had system restore disabled. I'm not having any serious problems, as it doesn't interfere with my browsing or anything else. That's the only site that the images have failed to work on. (Problem is on our new computer in our den.) I had decided to use Adgone's ad blocking ability to block the urls "defp.myspace.com", and "creative.myspace.com". They should work again since the program was uninstalled. My computer is the following:

HP Pavilion 1440n 3.0Ghz
Windows XP Media Center Edition.

I have no other problems to report, other than the fact that the flash video failed, but I found an installation of Flash Player 9 already, and solved that issue.Apparently there are leftovers from the application still on your computer after you uninstalled it. According to the adsgone website you will have to run the CLEANUP utility. Goto http://www.adsgone.com/help.asp?k=uninstall&productID=1&results=1&submit1=FAQ+Search

Solve : IE6 slow when using google but??

Answer»

Hello Everyone: Lately when using IE6 and scrolling on Google the
scrolling is very slow and jerky. But when I use Opera, it is very fast
with no slow ups or jerkyness.
I ran every scan I could think of and NO Spyware or malware or virus
found! Does ANYONE know what is causing this, I ALSO checked the CSS
(cascading style sheets) and it is set as should be!
Any Idea's? Thanksupdate IE6 Does this jerkyness happen on SPECIFIC web pages or all the time?

If you don't want to, I think we can hold off updating IE6 to IE7 unless there is no other way.

From your control panel select "Internet Options"
Select the "Connections" tab and press the "LAN settings" button.
Untick the box next to "Use a proxy server..."

Do you mean IE6 or IE7? Either way, that laptop might be infected with malware regardless of what Norton tells you.
Download HiJackThis and post the log file. Someone here can analyze it and tell you if your notebook is infected.

texasgirl21,

First uninstall all old versions of Java and get the latest version here.

I see that you have both Norton and Trend Micro antivirus programs installed, this can cause major problems if real-time scanning is turned on for both of them. You should uninstall one of them.

Close all open windows (including this one) and run HiJackThis again. Put a check NEXT to the following entry and click the "Fix checked" button.

O2 - BHO: MSVPS System - {3ADCBC16-19FA-4C59-9C22-E17C71B5FD7A} - C:\WINDOWS\bndsrgxt.dll

Close HJT, go to the C:\WINDOWS directory and delete bndsrgxt.dll

Go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis and rename HijackThis.exe to something else (e.g. texasgirl21.exe) then do another scan and post the new log file.

- JPHThere is more:

O3 - Toolbar: The netadv - {ABF529BE-6245-465A-BBD4-238C4EAB0F0A} - C:\WINDOWS\netadv.dll
Parasite connecting to rogue "security sites", a member of the SmitFraud malware family - detected by Kaspersky antivirus as not-a-virus:AdWare.Win32.Agent.mh

Thx Broni, missed that one.Sure thing #1

Solve : Mozilla Firefox error?

Answer»

Hi,
this isn't a major prob so if you do know the ANSWER thats great but no stress. i use Mozilla Firefox and EVERY time i open the browser it comes up with a server connection problem page. i have reinstalled, changed home page (which is Google), it is just annoying to have to always refresh/ reptye address. anyways thanks for your help.
Morpheus_13This problem cropped up for me a few months ago...is your google page customised ? ?
I.E. Weather...email....news etc ? ?
What i had to do was open FireFox ...set the default home page to none.
I then logged into my google homepage and went to Tools / Options and set the start page as current.
I logged off and re-booted and restarted FireFox and all was well.
I believe this is more of an issue on google's end as i also had problems with some of their page widgets i had setup prior.Maybe you do not have internet connection before you load firefox.

I have broadband internet which is always on, but sometimes my computer's LOADING and I have to WAIT a MINUTE or two for the computer to establish internet connection. If I load firefox before and it loads just before the internet connection is available, then it'll say server connection problem error. (server can't be found or something like that to my homepage).

But once my internet goes online, I can surf to any website that's working ... even google and my own homepage that I already set as default.

If that is not the case for you, maybe it's a problem with google.

Set your home page to "blank", and see, if it helps. You can always have Google on your bookmark toolbar, so it's just one click away.Maybe you do not have internet connection before you load firefox.

My kids do this all the time-get too impatient and try to open ff before the wireless card has connected.

Solve : IE6 or IE7??

Answer»

I was automatically upgraded to IE7 this spring personally,I LIKE it better than version 6Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on October 03, 2007, 08:25:26 PM

IE 6 is ok, I don't like IE7. I really dislike the GUI. If I wanted tabbed browsing, I would just use Firefox like I always would.

I AGREE. With IE, you're STUCK with one, UGLY looking theme. If you use Firefox, and have a high-speed internet connection, download as many themes as you want!

Solve : Favorites not showing up for 1 user account in Vista?

Answer»

I have a Toshiba laptop running Vista (bought it a couple months ago). It has IE 7 which seems to be doing strange things with the favorites. Using my primary login account I cannot get Favorites to show up in IE. If I login as Guest they are their and can be add/deleted, but not using my main login. I have tried importing Favorites and IE says it all worked, but they still won't show up. If I look in the FILE directory there is a Favorites folder under the user name and it has all the files I 'Added to Favorites', but if I am trying to ORGANIZE or just see the Favorites using IE it is blank. When organizing Favorites and clicking on New Folder nothing happens, no error message, no action, nothing. I tried copying a bookmarks.htm and booksmarks.html file into my Documents and Favorities directory, but I'm not sure if that is needed (isn't that what Importing Favorites does?).

Am I missing SOMETHING obvious? Mozilla seems to work fine (I tried importing the bookmarks from there a few times, no LUCK), IE works fine as Guest, but not as other Users.

Please help
Rob

Solve : How to configure 'Sleipnir' to use 'Gecko' rendering engine??

Answer»

Hello There!

I have read that Sleipnir BROWSER can be configured to use both 'Trident'(IE based) & 'Gecko'(Mozilla FF based) rendering engine.

However, CUSTOMIZATION window REMAINS devoid of any such choice & only shows up Trident(refer to the attachment PLEASE).

Any ideas....

Solve : Internet Loading SLow...?

Answer»

Just Last NITE. My Interent Has Been Moving Real SLow. LIKE Pages are Loading Extrememly Slow. ANy SUggestions? I Unplugged my Router and Modem &AMP; ALl The Basics & Still No LUCK.

&

It When i First Hook My Router & Modem Back Up The Interent Moves Normal Speed. But It Slows Down After Like I CLICK Threw 1 Or 2 Pages....

Any Suggestions???Are you using a shared Internet or 1:1 ratio only? What is your subscribed bandwidth with your ISP? Have you consult them if having problem on their side?

What anti-virus system do you use? Can you update it and do some system scan first? Check the results. If virus found and removed, check your Internet again.

Also, please post here your machine specifications. Wait for some experts to analyze your issue. You already have a thread on this. Please do not post the same question more than once.
