Solve : IE freezing?

Answer»
I'm having problems with IE. It is freezing when trying to open, it takes to long, when opened and link is clicked, it takes about 60 seconds to open and this just happens everytime a link is clicked on. Takes about 60 seconds to turn pages. I am using Opera now but I still need IE for some things Opera won't do. I have defragmented computer, ran ad aware and there were alexa viruses on it and I deleted them and today they are back. I keep running ad aware and spybot and housecall antivirus. House call didn't pick up any virus but ad aware did. I have also deleted files I don't need and did a disk cleanup. Computer runs fine until I get on the internet and try to use IE. I also did the repair IE that was in the IE service pack. What else can I do? After all of this it did start working for about 5 minutes then it started all over again.

Thanks,
Ronda Ronda R Hunt....Some QUESTIONS for you re your issue,
What operating system are you using ? the Alexa ......thing is it a toolbar , a WEBPAGE or what.....
Exactly which antispy software are you using?
Ad-Aware SE from Lava soft should remove it and SpyBot Search and Destroy should do the trick as well.
I am supicious that there are entries in your registry which keep it coming back .....You have to go into the registry and find and remove those referances .....Caution ....if you are not used to deleting things from the registry ...........make sure you backup your registry before deleting items from there .
Use the search function of registry to find Alexa ....there . Using another browser isnt really fixing ANYTHING .....THATS like putting a band aid on a injury which requires surgery to FIX.
let us know
dl65 I am using spybot search and destroy and ad aware SE Lavasoft. I don't know if the alexa thing is a toolbar or a webpage. Is there away to check? and how do I get into the registry?
Thanks
RondaAlexa is a spyware pest.....if you have adaware it should be in the quarentine folder delete..it....or trey this>http://www.download.com/Alexa-Toolbar-Removal-Tool/3000-8022_4-10340522.htmlI downloaded the alexa toolbar remover and I'm still having trouble with IE. I deleted everything in the ad aware quarantine files. I still can't get IE to do anything. I don't see alexa on ad aware anymore. How can I go into the registry and delete it and what am I looking for? Or could this be something else?
Thanks
Rondahttp://www.opera.com/support/service/applications/?session=89f1d1ab7f5c31acd800ba6f3f0c83f4 see if this helps....??or run a another trojan killer program.........like stinger.......Spyware Doctor fixed all my problems. I downloaded it free from Cnet.com and it cleaned the registry and took off all the bad stuff. I recommend this to anyone who is using spybot search and destroy and ad aware programs and it doesn't solve the problem. Thank you Computer_God and everyone else.

Solve : Firefox and Adblockplus question: How to prevent popups from Megaupload?

Answer»

The Topic is 9 months old...Quote from: patio on January 07, 2011, 10:05:31 PM

The Topic is 9 months old...

If you don't want people posting anymore in this topic, perhaps you should close it then? The LAST time popups have been anything more then a extremely minor annoyance for me was in 2003 when I was using IE6. At that time there were msot certainly ways to automatically install things which were more design flaws then anything else. (the old trick of showing two new popups when you close a popup) You simply terminate all iexplore instances with TASK manager and start it again. With FF you would do the same thing and then choose "start new session" on the session recovered screen.

Getting the browser to download something without the users CONSENT is nearly impossible nowadays, let alone having that file be a program and then getting that program to run. And those capabilities that are exposed generally require at least some user INTERACTION. (for example, using a GIF of a dialog box to make you think you can press the X but clicking anywhere on it will take you to the linked site).

If you are REALLY paranoid, disable javascript.Quote from: knownote on January 08, 2011, 07:17:03 AM

Solve : Google Chrome 10.0.628.0 Beta?

Answer»

Is this just a marketing gimmick for Google Chrome? Google Chrome is already rolling out 10.0.628.0 Beta.

I'm using this browser, well, the ChromePlus version of it, and I like it.

But it's already at version 10 given its short lifetime compared to the other big name browsers out there Well, I have the latest version of Opera and it's version 11. Version numbering is pretty meaningless since everybody and their pet dog seems to have a different definition of what the different parts of a version number mean. Additionally there is a tendency for many companies to just skip 5 or 6 versions and hope nobody will notice.

Microsoft Word for Windows, for example, somehow made their 3rd installment version 6. "For consistency" Visual J++ had version 1.0, 1.1, and then broke new ground with version 6.0, despite it being what any sane person would call 2.0.

This sort of version indifference is exactly what causes products to quickly soar past double digit numbering, because the company can make the major version number increment whenever they *censored* well please. "Oh, we added a button... better increment the major version".

usually you change a version number when you essentially rewrite the program from scratch or otherwise perform Major version changes. This is why it gets the name Major Version Number. You should have the make Major Version changes to warrant a change. below that you have Minor Versions, which are reset to zero whenever you increment the major version number, and only incremented when you make somewhat smaller changes- like say, add a new dialog, or a new feature. Then you have revision, which pretty much reveals how many changes you've made, and then build number which is the number of builds it took to get it right, starting from the first build of a Major Version.

Some companies, like Google and whomever makes Opera (although Opera has been around long enough to actually have something that legitimately is in version 11) have decided, "you know what, to *censored* with versioning standards, let's have a trained monkey pull flash cards out of it's arse and then use those numbers as the new version. And then in traditional Google style they let it fester in beta for about 5 times longer then anybody else would sanely do, meanwhile actually CHANGING ALL THE VERSIONING NUMBER COMPONENTS. Here's a protip, if you change the version number during a beta, it's no longer a flipping beta. it's a freaking Drama sequence. a Beta version is a mostly complete piece of software t hat is ready for some real-world testing. If you go and make changes major enough to change the major version number you're not REALLY testing the same product, are you unless of course you follow the same "count the number of times we see the word "Shiny" in the changelog" and use that as a major version number that some software companies seem to follow, in which case congratulations you've just created a huge clusterfook.

Basically, my point is, Version numbers are not something you can compare between programs. Software Product A Version 8 is no more or less advanced then Software Product B Version 12, for all we know the latter is run by and developed by a bunch of mentally deficient monkeys with aspergers syndrome and the latter is created by a bunch of buddhist monks, it doesn't matter through because the version number is just a COMPARISON value you use to see "oh, hey, I wonder if I have the latest version" Because apparently there are people who say this about every bloody program. It’s understandable for browsers, and for a number of browser-based/web-based technologies, as well as things like the .NET framework, and of course the core of windows itself. But, seriously, the main reason you update a program is to fix bugs and add features, and hope that the bugs and security concerns that a new version adds (And they always do, unless the change is extremely minor) don’t outweigh the benefit of having the known vulnerabilities and the existing bugs eliminated. You don't just download or check for an update because "hey, there might be security fixed" because for one thing they never say what those "security fixes" are, for all we know it could mean that they inserted a backdoor or something. Second, it's not something you are going to personally benefit from, regardless of the number of articles you've read online about it, exploits and vulnerabilities are actually one of the lowest forms of getting control of a REMOTE system, and also the easiest to squelch. What you really need to watch for are the ones who take advantage of a flawed design- mostly in the implementations of protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, and so forth. No New version of any security system is going to help you catch and detect those, except for those that install a giant uncleanable filter to your ports under the guise of a firewall and then everytime a little speck of dust get's stuck to the filter it asks "do you want to let this through? What about this? Are you sure you want to do that? and then they just eat the speck anyway making the question moot.I completely agree, BC. To compare version numbers between different software makers is meaningless. As you said, Opera has been around a long time and they do use incremental number between whole digits. I believe my previous version of Opera was 10.63. Opera does not break their numbering into 3 parts, like Firefox (example: 3.6.13), so that also affects the pattern of change in numbering as subsequent versions are released. At least Both of them have actually gone through all the previous numbers, as well. Opera's current ver is 11. whatever, but at least they didn't entirely skip major versions for seemingly no reason. One good example of that is Microsoft, and it started about the time they decided that Years were somehow a better measure then a actual version number, or something. Office used to be sold as "Office Version Blah dot blah", 4.2 was the last numbered version of "Office", and it had (iirc) Excel 5, Word 6, PowerPoint 4, And Access 2.0 in various minor versions and they had all "gone through", except for MS word which somehow managed to skip along from 2.0 all the way to 6.0 for no reason at all (well, that's not TRUE, apparently they didn't want to "confuse anybody", which seems a bit backwards.). Anyway, with Office 95 they decided to basically make them all have the same version so POOF they all were version 8 (Office 7 might have made them all ver 7 but I haven't used that so I don't know). MS has done this time and time again and they claim it is "for consistency" as if releasing something like Visual Studio or Office with different versions for the constituent products will give our little tiny brains a hemmorage or something. Thankfully most of their products are either labelled and the actual version essentially ignored by all (like Version 4.0 (95) 4.1.1998 (98), 4.1.2222(98SE) 4.9 (ME) 5.0(2000) 5.1(XP) 6.0 (Vista) and the classic Windows 7, which is version 6.1) But I think rather then clarify anything they've only served to make things more confusing.

Of course this topic is more about version numbers themselves, and not just MS or how it versions things, but it was slightly related. Basically, comparing Version numbers between two products is no different from comparing the features of a word processor to video recording software.

Solve : IE Status Bar in Fullscreen?

Answer»

Hi,

Ever since I downloaded SP2, when I put IE in fullscreen, the status bar stays down there. The only way I can get rid of it is by manually going into the View menu and UNCHECKING it. It used to do it automatically though when I hit F11 before SP2. Is there a place in the registry that I could edit so it doesn't stay there when I go to fullscreen? It's more of an annoyance than a real problem.

Thanks.see if this brings it back sfc /scannow TYPED in the run box...........back up reg first......type regedit in the run box .....Hkeys_Current_Users \software \microsoft\internet explorer now click the + sign for main......SCROLL down the list and see if the full screen is set to "no" if its not CHANGE it to no if unsure of playing with the reg FILES......then dont.!!Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks a lot, I think I found what I was looking for in the registry. I always back it up before I change it though.

Solve : Can't view selected images on Internet Explorer?

Answer»

Hi,

I am USING a Toshiba LAPTOP which runs Windows Vista. I use Internet Explorer Version 7.0 and recently the internet stopped showing selected images on a great variety of webpages and if they can't be shown they display the typical red CROSS image. I have tried to find an answer including a faq on this site, but nothing has worked. There seems to be no consistency to the type of image this isn't viewable and I've no idea what might be causing the problem.

It might be a virus or something but I'm a bit baffled.

Does ANYONE have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks so much

Solve : can't view jpeg by name in picture save box?

Answer»

Hi, I have win 98se with what I believe to be the latest version of IE. a few days ago, I downloaded an update from Microsoft. (some kind of DRIVER) Anyway, whenever I save a jpeg or anything else, the title to what I saved is NOT visible in the "Save box" I would then save it again & it would say it already exist and would ask to overwrite it. When I leave the internet & look at it through windows, it's there. When I go back on the internet & save another jpeg/file to the exact location, nothing is there except what I saved BEFORE I downloaded the update. I tried to reset IE to its default settings but it doesn't help. I DON't remember the driver I downloaded so I can't delete it. Anyone with suggestions? Thanks HarryH :do you know what net connections have you got!have you got a an anti-virus ......firewall thing.... i know you just want to down the thing and its not doing it.....right!so what i would do is ..radical.....dont update win98se leave it alone!........bit of searching needed h...type c:\windows\options\cabs in the search program......or COPY and paste it...now scroll down the page.....go it so far! next to the reg32 icon.

I have the following 3 files; Hhctrl.ocx, html32.cnv and SNMP. I also don't see the "setup" icon you're talking about. Do you have any further advice? By the WAY, I have Dial-up connection, Anti-virus program & firewall which worked quite well until I downloaded a stupid (update) driver just because I was trying just to maintain my system. Thanks in advance. Harry

I think it's time for me to upgrade it to XP by reformating the hard drive - Any other suggestions? Or Anyone else with any ideas? Thanks in advance - Harryscan for trojans bugs etc.?? first.....now re-boot pc and hold down the f5 key safe mode......now chose start win form the command prompt.....now type scanreg/restore after the A:\ prompt.....answer yes to the splash screen and chose the last good cab file...Hi Merlin - Forget it - can't restore. I did find out that the jpegs are now being stored as JPE's. I earlier saved a jpeg and titled it "1", I then got off the internet, found it USING windows and it's labed "1(squiggly line)jpe". I then opened the jpe & saved it again to the same location, and now it is saved as a "file", I would then open it with iexplorer; which would then be saved as a "normal" jpeg. Is there anyway to get it back to saving a jpeg as a jpeg instead of a JPE? I was digging into the "view" area of windows but don't want to make things worse. Thanks in Advance - HarryMerlin - to clarify - It's saved as a jpe in the MS-dos name in properties whereas it SHOULD be " 1.jpeg" NOT "1~1.jpe" Harry

Solve : cannot set hope page address?

Answer»

something has happened to my WIN XP that prevents SETTING the home page address via Control Panel, Internet Options, Internet Properties, Home page address. I can enter the address once (http://start.earthlink.net) and when IE as activated I get my earthlink start page. But the NEXT time I access IE, I will get "about:blank" as the opening page. Inspection of Control Panel shows that "about:blank" has replaced start.earthlink. "about:blank" has other malcious BEHAVIOR as when it opens it immediately initiates downloading unasked for crap. I have scanned my computer via McAfee Virsus Scan v4.5.1 and it turned up nothing. Solve : problem running IE7?

Answer» BASIC Setup
Windows XP SP2

When I command IE7 to run, It opens as normal, then can not load the website, or any website and stays blank white without saying "cannot display" or any other message, I am using a computer in the next room to access this website and everything works fine. The problem computer has a connected status from cable provider and DISPLAYS the same ITP settings as the good computer. I have ran AVG 9 and Malware-bytes, neither found a problem although I SUSPECT malware.
Anyone experiancing the same issue or have a clue how to correct a problem without identifining it first ?In IE:
Tools/Options/Connections/LAN settings.....is use proxy checked ? ?
If so you are most certainly infected....

You can uncheck it and it may run properly a few days but the condition may return.
Visit our Malware and VIRUS section and follow the info on posting your logs.

Be patient...they tend to get quite busy over there. Please do not post the same question more than once. I responded in the other thread and am locking this one.

Solve : Locked Google start page for my mum.?

Answer»

I want to send my mum a new start page: Google.
as her start page isn't Google and she want it to be Google.
I have tried to explain her how to change the start page but,...
Well you know.
Is there any way how I can send her a register value like:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.google.be/

And the next thing but this isn't really necessary I would like to have it that way that she couldn't change it ACCEPT when she removes the register value (just in case).
The first time I went over there to change it but I don't want to do this over and over again.

Sow my Question:
Can I send her a register value that will automatically change her start page to Google and of possible that she can't change it accept when removing that register or when I (or someone else) give her a new register value.

Thanks in advance

Jonas For Windows XP Home Edition, you could try a .reg file with the following contents:

Code: (IE-Startpage.reg) [Select]Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Start Page"="http://www.google.be/"
To install the registry key, double-click the file.

It works with my computer.
It might work with other Windows versions but I have not tested it.

let us know

dl65 Sure.

It's windows XP, SP2.
The problem accured not very long ago. I know that there has been smaller security updates on windows XP, that has been installed on the system lately.

I have searched for similar problems on the net, and found several cases, but no solution that works for me. I have tried running AdAware SE Personal, I have also tried a trick I PICKED up along the road, running regsvr32 on several DLL files. I'm using firewall and norton antivirus 2004. Norton finds none critical files on the system.
At the time I used Amiga, there was a utility called snoopdos, it was monitoring every move made on the system. COULD that be an option ? Is there anything like that made for windows ?

Solve : Completely Clean CPU With Video Problems?

My browser freezes when I try to view stored video. I can watch video from a direct site such as (cbs,abc,espn,etc..), but when I try to watch video from a site that displays user content such as (youtube,stage6 tudou, etc..) my browser locks up and NOTHING happens. Then after closing my browser I am not able to reconnect without restarting. I have scrubbed my computer free of all virus and malware INFECTIONS and am still unable to solve this problem. Any help will be appreciated. What browser are you using? TRIED Firefox?

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/?from=getfirefox

Alan <>< I use IE and FireFOx. Same problem on both. Thats what makes it so weird. Please Help !!What do you mean by stored video ? ?It's not video that is from a direct source for example a tv show that is aired on abc being on abc.com. It's not that. It's only video that is user posted(?) It is just video that comes from soures like youtube, metacafe, veoh, that kind of video. Like or example today I was checking my e mail on AOL and I clicked on a story that opened a video from tmz.com. My browser immediately froze and I had to restart. They're like landmines. But if I go to abc.com and watch SOMETHING it works fine. It is just video that is not CREATED by the site that I am watching it on.

Solve : Can't get on Internet?

Answer»

I have a GATEWAY laptop running XP service pack 2 with a built in wireless card. Just recently, I cannot get on the internet. Everything SAYS that my wireless connection is active, but when I open my browser(s) (Fireox, IE) , it says that the internet is unavailable. I have another similar Gateway and I am not having any trouble with it. Any ideas? Welcome aboard
Did you TRY to hard-wire it?I'm far from an expert, but this was the problem when we had visitors who couldn't use our internet connection. Did you check to see if Wireless Zero CONFIGURATION is running? Start menu ---> Run. Type "services.msc" -without quotes. If there is no "started" under status, then either start it by clicking on the "start" link to the right of the services list (if Wireless Zero is set to manual), or right-click on the Wireless Zero Configuration listing, and chick on "properties". There you will see "startup type". Change it to either automatic or manual, click on "apply". Then click where it says "start the service." HOPEFULLY this works. Good Luck!

Hi,
Im going to download Firefox , is there anything that i need to do before downloading it?
Do i have to get rid of IE after that or is there some way to disable IE?
Is there anything that i need to know before or after the download ?
ThanksNo you don't have to get rid of IE or even disable it. FF and IE can coexist quite happily. Actually I would recommend you keep IE around since you'll need it if you EVER have to visit Windows Update.
I cant think of anything you need to do before downloading it. All the fun STARTS after FF is installed and you begin to CUSTOMIZE it. Thanks Deerpark,
Im gonna download FF from Here.

So there is simply nothing that i need to do before downloading FF, good Ok downloaded firefox just now, its nice.

Solve : Something is terribly wrong with my Internet?

Answer»

This is kind of long but I'm so confused and can't completely fix my PC. I have a Compaq Presario with WIndows XP service pack 2, CELERON 2.8 Ghz CPu and 760 MB RAM. Recently I started out of the blue having trouble with IE. No matter what I did It would not let me log on to secure sites anymore. I downloaded Firefox and it worked BETTER but wouldn't let me on certain sites so I reformatted and put things back like they came.

That worked great except IE kept giving me ERROR messages on Ebay and shutting down completely so I upgraded to IE 7.0. That worked fine for a day and then slowed down to a snail's pace. When it slowed down I downloaded FIrefox but it was the same way. I ran Ad Aware and SPYBOT and removed some things and that made it faster but it's still not up to regular speed. I don't know if a virus would cause this or what.

I have Wildblue Satellite Internet and my modem shows that everything's working fine. So do you think I have a virus, some malware or is my IE Software messed up??

Thanks for any help!!!

Solve : Fourth Login works?

Answer»

try this one on......................and happy new year .

It takes 4 login attempts to connect to my account on a financial site. The first three redirect to page 2(not page 1) of their 'open a new account' page. HAPPENS with IE and Firefox the same way. If I log out and visit another site....then log in again...works the first time. If I close the browser and reopen in...back to 4th login situation.

This does not happen on any other online accounts that I have. Just this one company.

Their support people told me they never heard of this....suspect my browsers are corrupt with some redirecting issue......suggest I delete and reinstall both of my browsers, but I have not YET done so.

Any ideas?Visit our Virus and MALWARE SECTION and follow the instructions on posting your logs...

Solve : My internet connection is so slow, i could fall asleep?

Answer»

Hi all, this is a quite trivial question but one that for my own sanity i really do need answering...
i have an AMD Athlon pc and it is 2.4ghz, quite fast and reliable, however i use internet explorer 7 and i also use firefox occasionally so in order to keep my pc protected i have Zone alarm Pro firewall, I paid quite a lot of money for this as i heard it was one of the best, after a while i purchased Zone Alarm internet security all in one and again i found no problems with it (as such) but with all that said I am having problems with connection speed, when i turn on my pc it takes about 6 minuets to connect to the net, during this time the pc will not respond to anything except the task manager, so all i can do is sit and wait. when the pc is allready up and running and i have allready been on the net i can then connect faster....at this point it takes about 1-2 minuets, Is there any way that i can speed things up a bit? I have tried other firewalls and the built in firewall but it only makes for a small difference. Microsoft don't want to help me and said that i should concider a new pc with better capabilities, but i have only had this pc for 4 months and i dont THINK it is a bad one.
Any help on this PROBLEM would be greatly APPRECIATED thanks Have you tried uninstalling the Zone Alarm?I would try uninstalling ZoneAlarm as WELL. My laptop have experienced similar issues with ZoneAlarm. The computer would freeze for a couple of minutes the first time I launched an internet browser after turning on (or restarting) the computer and this turned out to be because of ZoneAlarm. (More precisely it was the vsmon.exe process).

I'm now using the Comodo Firewall on all my computers. It performs better in security tests than ZA, it's actually EASIER to use (in my opinion at least), and best of all it's free. It's little bit too late, but you made two mistakes:
Quote

I paid quite a lot of money for this
No reason, since there are freebies out there, even better, then ZA.

Most likely...Actually this could have been due to so many reasons. If you had given more information I would have been more specific. But I will tell you what to do:

-You can basically try a different browser.
-Install FIRE fox (a new copy).
-Install updates to the fire fox.
-Check whether you have accidently changed the properties of fire fox.
-Find out whether the copy of windows seven you are using is original.
-Perform a full virus scan.

Solve : IE 7 RANDOMLY crashing...?

Answer»

I usually use firefox ANYWAYS, but IE is just faster to load.. Anyhoo.... I never had this problem before but lately my desktop and laptop BOTH have been having this problem.. I'll be using IE 7 and out of nowhere it will just close... no error, nothing, just close. Just curious if anyone has any ideas on this. I've had no reports of a VIRUS on either computer so I don't think that's the ISSUE unless it's a plug-in maybe? I was just wondering if anyone else has this issue or know what it is maybe it's a bug in IE7 or a plug-in INCOMPATIBILITY or a poorly written plug-in that I have on both computers. Any ideas?

Solve : Firefox has crashed on me twice today... Causes, solutions??

Answer»

Hi. I'm CURRENTLY using Mac/Snow Leopard. I've been using Firefox (I think I'm up to date) and only have Adblockplus as the addon. And then there was an update for ABP recently, so I updated it yesterday. I've d/led stuff from Megaupload PLENTY of times before without Firefox ever crashing.

So today, I was browsing yahoo answers and was d/ling one video from Megaupload like I always do.. but then it just CRASHED on me. This is first time I've encountered a crash for Firefox on this mac. I restarted Firefox and browsed like normal. I tried d/ling the same file again and it finished d/ling without any problem. I then d/led another vid (asian show) but it hanged...I've tried downloading this vid a couple of times before but it always hangs around 24 mb.

I then tried d/ling the next ep and this one always just d/ls 4kb and finishes even though it's a 700 mb file. So I skip that one and go onto the next episode and it downloads successfully. I then PROCEED to d/ling the episode after that one BUT when I click the "download window that shows the name of the vid and location where it should be saved to" Firefox just crashed.

So the last page I was on when Firefox crashed was Megaupload.
........

Anyways, I checked the mozilla support page for firefox crashing and it said to delete "downloads.sqlite" file. My question is, what is it? Is it ok to delete or it should be left alone?

I also just went to the "about:CRASHES" page on Mozilla to try and comprehend the reports.. but I do not understand any of the information from there. No need to double Post...

I know this can happen if you don't have the required decoders for the video type. You said at EVERY website...So I can't be SURE that's what it is, although I know that WILL do it. I know divx is a big one for me.. Every time I redo windows divx is PART of my "getting all my stuff downloaded again" process. What about youtube? becuase those are actually FLASH files I believe. (flv files) so that should work unless your flash player is buggy. Maybe you could try updating that. It's worth a shot..

Solve : Problems with Google Chrome?

Answer»

I do a lot of work on the internet so I'm pretty much always running multiple tabs. I just switched to Firefox because it seemed LIKE Chrome would lose its connection to the internet after a while of running multiple tabs. Has anyone else run into this problem? I ran all the necessary updates but it just randomly loses connection. Checked my wi-fi .. all good, and ran other browsers immediately after the error with no problems. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!Approximately how many tabs are open when this happens? Is Chrome stable with a small number of tabs open? Have you observed any relationship to length of time online with Chrome? In addition to the former.
What is the connection speed with the Internet. I've see similar problems when the connection speed is slowUsually it happens with more than 3 tabs open and after at least an hour. I have a broadband connection but I am running Wi-Fi. Don't know if that matters. Since all the issues I've had with Chrome I am really starting to fall in love with Firefox so I honestly don't know if I'll ever go back now.Quote from: garry6stephen on December 21, 2010, 10:46:46 PM

Actually Google Chrome requires high internet speed.
Define high internet speed.

Quote from: garry6stephen on December 21, 2010, 10:46:46 PM
I think when you open multiple tabs, Google chrome automatically works slowly,
Non-sense. That's simply not true. I've never seen any documentation that Chrome needs any faster speed connection than any other browser.

A lot of it depends on what tabs, or websites, are open, and if they do automatic updates. That will take up bandwidth and CPU cycles depending on how often they update.

I use Firefox as my main choice, and Chrome as my second choice, and I have never seen any problems with either with multiple tabs open. Quote from: soybean on December 21, 2010, 10:54:29 PM

One browser may load a webpage faster than other browser on same internet connection.

But you can use any browser with any internet connection (as long as you can install it on your machine, that is)Quote from: 2x3i5x on December 22, 2010, 12:17:53 PM
One browser may load a webpage faster than other browser on same internet connection.
No. The only difference will be in rendering time, and those differences come at different prices. If you really wanted the fastest possible rendering then you'd find some skunk works "superspeedy browser" that parallelized the drawing of every single element into a set of threads and pegged the CPU(and all cores on that CPU) for however long it takes to finish rendering. No display would be shown until the results had been acquired- no progress load no nothing. The toolbar wouldn't even respond- after all, redrawing the button would mean taking precious power from rendering the page, which would *gasp* make it slower!, What people are comparing half the time when they say "Browser X is faster then browser Y" is perceived speed, not actual speed. Things don't SEEM to take as long when you know how long is remaining. There have been a number of experiments done in this regard for years; such as having a document re-paginate (back when it would take long enough to be usable in this test) and show a progress bar versus not showing any output; First they had a version of the program that pretty much pegged the CPU, showed no output, and quite literally tried to re-paginate that document as fast as possible. Then they used a version of the same program which was more "co-operative" with the system in that it yielded to other applications, it drew a progress-bar/% complete thing during the entire process, and so forth. Despite the new version taking almost 25% longer, users on AVERAGE reported a dramatic increase in the "speed" of the program.

This is absolutely no different with browsers. All Browsers running on the same OS will download data at nearly the same rate. (They can provide bullet points like "streamlined download pipelining" but it's all a load of nonsense.*) Once those files are downloaded- and probably during - it renders the page.

Some browsers render as elements are loaded, others try to "predict" where the elements will appear on the page (so there isn't a lot of stuff moving around during the load). Firefox waits a second or so to start rendering a page (the idea being that within a second there should be "enough" of the page for it not to be a confusing mess). Others wait longer, or don't even bother to render until after the entire thing is downloaded.

All of this results in different perceptions about the speed that often do not coincide with the actual speed's in question.

But Again, as has been reiterated so many times; it doesn't make a *censored* bit of difference what browser you use. People like to make these claims that "well, if a page loads on average a tenth of a second faster and you browse through a modest 500 pages a day, you're saving over 50 seconds! Then they do all sorts of statistical munging like saying "and that translates to over 5 hours of time you save by using this browser B!" Thing is you can take any obscenely small time savings and multiply it into larger time scales so that it seems relevant. If I have a pot-hole on the road that takes me an extra quarter second for me to go around, do you think the City would care that I waste 3 minutes a year doing so? Seems insignificant! but if I become a cyborg and live for 5 million years, that's over 28 years! well they'll have to do something then! This is made worse because often times the "statistics" that are being munged aren't even measured statistics, they'll be perceived statistics, so they'll go around and ask people "how much faster does browser A feel to you" and the people might say "feels about a good half second faster at least for each page" so of COURSE at this point it's important to note that sometimes the browser that "feels" slower is in fact measurably faster then the other, so the overinflated munged and contrived statistics are in fact completely meaningless.

This no doubt finds it's way into even the most studious benchmarks, as the people performing the test are almost always biassed, so when they run their "preferred" implementation, they'll make sure to do stupid stuff like disabled all sorts of background processes and other tasks. But they won't often show the same care for the other side. Personally, unless somebody can quite literally produce a process Monitor log that quite clearly shows a time difference between browsers, it's all a bunch of opinions being held as fact. And even if somebody does measure it, who the *censored* cares? We also waste time eating and sleeping, should we try to shave precious tenths of a second off every sandwich we make? of course not.

*I have quite literally toyed with this. I would ask some of my small set of computer savvy friends something like "did you know that Browser A has Deluxe TCP/IP channeling?" And either they'd pretend they knew or be genuinely curious and actually switch to that browser based entirely on a nonsense feature that I didn't even explain.I have had numerous problems with Google Chrome.... fortunately they are getting less... Less Flash Crashes, less freezes. One solution that solves a lot of Chrome problems is to clear the Cache regularly and Browsing history. When these get cluttered, chrome slows down! i don't think the number of open windows is the issue, but people like me who open a number of windows regularly also tend to build up a large cache and history files.

I have two chrome problems that that seem to remain... and WOULD APPRECIATE HELP ON THESE!

I also continue to have numerous problems with Firefox that persist on Windows 7. Firefox is slow to start or does not start at all .... cancel it in the task manager and try again....

Occasionally Chrome will not accept 'box input', eg a user name in a box... it will just return to say 'enter user name' or something. The other remaining problem is that it does not warn me that a site is trying to open a pop-up that I might like to see. Then it seems that the site is not working. I have learned to switch over to Firefox on these occasions....
try giving Chromeplus. It's a chrome based browser, and it has other features not coming with chrome directly (or can be added with extensions), including IE Tab. First unistall your browser and reinstall in your computer to recover the problem.

I have a feeling that when IE9 goes gold, you'll have to uninstall IE9 beta in order to get the official RTM version. Am I right on that?MS states it will install over the top...can't find the article at the moment but i think it was on bink.nu...Quote from: patio on December 06, 2010, 04:30:32 PM

click on view installed updates.Find internet explorer 9 beta.Right click and uninstall. No adverse issues.Hope this helped someone.

Solve : Deleting History from the address bar?

Answer»

Although I have gone to Tools/Internet Options/Browsing HISTORY... whenever I click the down arrow on the right of the address bar, I keep on seeing visited sites under a History header (a Favourites header with some of my favourites also APPEARS). Even if I click the X button on the right of each entry, they keep on appearing each time I click again in the down arrow and the drop down appears.I cannot ge rid of them. Any hint about how to get rid of that and why it happens?Guessing you are USING one of the latest version of IE select

saftey

then delete browsing history...

mark History (and which ever else you wish)

Then press the delete button.

You can also download and install CCLeaner .I have read many articles on this and for the most part nobody understands what is being ask. When you start internet explorer and hit the down arrow, some previous web sites show up.This is how to solve the issue.

4.click content
5.click autocomplete settings
6.click auto complete history
7.At this point I took the check mark out of address bar.close internet explorer and restart it.Now click the arrow down and you should not see anything.Hope this helps. OOPS line 7.Should have read delete auto complete history. Also, look at the boxes that are checked and make sure what you are DELETING.

Solve : IE 7 is moving very slow?

Answer»

I run IE 7 on Windows XP and I am on DSL on my desktop. For some reason every TIME I log on to IE 7 it takes 30 seconds to a MINUTE for each page to load. At the same time my laptop at the house only takes 5 seconds or less to load each page so I know it is not the Internet provider. Seven days ago it stormed real bad and my machine lost power acouple of times. Could this have affected my system? The guys at Circuit City TELL me that I should back everything up and use my recovery CD. But surely there has to be a better way than that to fix my problem. What about the system restore?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Welcome aboard

System Restore would be worth to try. Pick up the earliest date.Do you have another browser? If so, does it run slowly too?Last night I RAN Mozilla Firefox and my internet moved quicker than ever. I guess there is just a problem with IE 7. I ran some spyware, ANTIVIRUS programs and they found nothing. Maybe I should just uninstall IE 7.Cannot be un-installed without major surgery as it is directly tied to the OS...
You can however just quit using it altogether.

The only real use it has is for Windows updates anyways...Quote

Forget about updates through IE, as well. Use Firefox + WindizUpdate (http://windowsupdate.62nds.com/)...and on a side note...
I'm really tired of all those posts about IE problems.
There was, and there is something wrong with that crappy browser, and that's it.Check out this site Spam Link Removed

Solve : Java Applet Download?

Answer»

I use an Internet Brooker program that provides "Streaming Quotes" in real TIME for stocks of interest. When using MSN EXplorer as a browser, , the programm loads correctly BUT the Java Applet required for Streaming Quotes screen does not download.

However, when I use "Internet Explorer" as the browser, the Java Applet loads properly and the real time Streaming Quotes" screen appears.

Pop-up blockers are not the problem. There is a DOWNLOADED FILE "Microsoft XML Parser for Java.osd". I assume ithis file is associated in some way with the Java Applet, but am not certain and have not been able to determine if it is corupted. MSN Tech was unable to help.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Puzzled Prariedog

I may be mistaken, but I don't THINK Java works in MSN Explorer.perhaps you should try FIRST download the latest Java

or if it don't work try this........

Solve : Can't open IE7?

Answer»

I'm using a desktop machine with Win XP Pro Sp3, Intel core 2 quad and 4 GB RAM. I was using IE6 quite happily, but after MICROSOFT's incessant BUGGING to upgrade to IE7 I finally caved and downloaded IE7. The download went OK and IE7 appears in "Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe". HOWEVER, I cannot initiate IE7 either by clicking on the icon or by clicking on iexplore.exe. When I do, the hourglass blinks for a fraction of a second and then - NOTHING! I can access the internet fine with Firefox.
Any IDEAS?Either uninstall IE7, use system restore to go back to before you INSTALLED it, or download IE8Thanks Allansure.

Solve : Banned?

Answer»

ok this is no regular Ban. I am using a library COMPUTER and IE. There is some way that you can ban someone from your site VIA IP and they won't even be able to LOAD the page... this is twice that it has HAPPENED to me... How do i get aroun dit or even find out if my IP has actually been banned?Start by explaining the ban and what happened...

And yes this can be done.Think you gotta get a new IP address, cause once they banned your IP your IP is permanently banned.
If your using a broadband then you gotta contact your provider and change it. Quote

It's gonna be hard to force library to change their IP. Quote from: Broni on OCTOBER 26, 2007, 06:40:00 PM
