Does that really apply to a browser crash? As I understand the OP's situation, his browser crashed, not his OS, not his computer, so he does not actually get BSOD screens.

Why not just use the Print Screen button on your keyboard? Holding the Alt key before pressing the Print Screen button captures only the active window, not the entire screen; that's useful when you want to capture a window that does not cover your entire display area. From one of the many many threads you've started all over the place about this:
Quote
It would probably be more helpful to go into Firefox and enter "about:crashes" in the address bar (without the quotes), and click on one or more of the most recent crashes logged, and copy that info over to this thread.

That as well as trying Firefox with all addons disabled except for Selenium IDE.

Well, I'm not familiar with that diagnostic app but will a report even be generated if no actual BSOD occurs? Again, the issue here is a browser crash, not BSOD.BSODViewer is for viewing BSOD ERRORS. BSOD errors are from kernel MODE faults.

the "program.exe has stopped working" errors are General Protection faults that occur in user mode. No dump information will be stored where BlueScreenViewer will look for it.

Firefox stores dump information when it crashes (and uploads it to Mozilla, if "submit crash reports" is enabled) These are accessed by using about:crashes to view such information, and provide Firefox-specific information about the state of the program when it crashed, as well as what plugin/addons/extensions and so forth are installed.

However, googling for their error message, firefox, as well as this "selenium" product, it is not an uncommon problem, even if we ignore the 6 or 7 other forums that this exact question has been copy-pasted to.

Since the program in question acts as a firefox plugin, either the plugin itself is causing the problem or the plugin is conflicting with some other installed plugin. Thus my suggestion to try running with only the selenium plugin active. (Safe mode would fix the problem but only because they would no longer be using the add-on at all). You guys are right and I'm wrong. I took a quick look at the error message and thought it was a crash dump not an app error. My mistake and thanks for keeping the OP on track

Solve : Internet 7.0 will not stay open when accessed.?

Answer»

I recently started having serious probems with my Internet 7.0. I am fairly sure its not a virus. I haven't added any additional programs recently. This PC may be possessed [kiding]. Here are the symptoms. When clicking on the Explorer Icon the access to the web begins, but immediately shuts down. It pops open then closed. Just that simple. Then the blue screen of death comes up. It says: A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON PAGE_AREA. It suggests to remove BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. However the PC needs to be in safe mode. I can get the PC in safe mode. I'm just not sure how to do this and accomplish the removal TASK. A dialogue box pops up with additional information REGARDING my attempts to get to the web. "The instruction at "Ox7eje3834" referred memory at "Ox 000000." The memory could not be written." Not very helpful to me.
What I have done so far.

1. Repaired Windows XP
2. Reset the options on the Internet.
3. Tried a repair program

Once the repair of Windows XP finished the access to the Internet worked just fine. Its when I booted up the FOLLOWING time it began to have the same problems. I am to the point that if this solution to this problem is long and difficult I may just start over with the OPERATING system. I would do that now but my computer is a Pentium 4 and I may not be able to get past the 132 GB barrier with the present BIOS. Thanks for looking, and thanks in advance. Don't know what any of those things mean but let's not worry about that right now.

Does this only happen when you open IE - no other time? Do other browsers work (Firefox, OPERA, Safari)? Have you run a diagnostic on your ram?
Allan,
It only happens when I try to open IE 7. It opens very briefly and closes down very fast I do not have any other browsers at this time. I am not sure how to run a diagnostic on my RAM, but if you can give me clear directions I would be happy to give it a try . Would running this diagnostic tool tell me what kind of ram I have? Hey, don't know, but I like to learn. Thanks.Let's start by downloading and installing Firefox. I'd like to see if the problem is with IE or with accessing the web. Download it on another system, copy it to usb drive or cd or whatever you like and then copy to the problem system and install.

Solve : Please Help with error 501 message?

Answer»

::)When I try to change my font when writing an e mail I get the following error message
On the bar it says Microsoft Internet Explorer
then the message READS "an error has occurred in this dialog, error 501 permission denied"

So there is no WAY I can change my font size, color ect.
Is there a SOLUTION out there :Pkeeping my fingers crosses!
CrystallegI'm assuming your doing this through an ONLINE webmail program. The 501 error code is a permission denied sent by the webmail program. Unfortunately there is nothing you personally can do about it other than report this error to the ISP or company in charge of the webmail program.

If you've been able to do this in the past I'd bet it's just a temporary issue and will be resolved in a day or so.many thanks for the reply.but I am not using webmail............. What are you using for e-mail?If Outlook Express, try here:

Solve : IE 7 doesn't open some pages?

Answer»

Hi, have a rather strange problem with IE7. On some sites, when I click a link, it says it cannot open it and a blank page appears. Refreshing the page sometimes HELPS, sometimes not, randomly. I've tried reinstalling java and flash, disabling all add ons in IE, nothing seems to work. There isn't such problem if I open the same pages in Google Chrome browser. My system is WinXP pro SP2. Any ideas PLEASE?1) Upgrade to SP3
2) If the problem still persists, try installing IE8Thanks for answering, will try installing SP3. One more symptom: in the meantime, I noticed that disabling scripting solves the problem, I can see the pages with no problem, but some functionality gets lost without Flash enabled. So perhaps there is some trick connected with changing registry entries (which I know nothing about and am afraid to even touch Quote from: jimmy2 on December 18, 2010, 03:47:38 AM

There isn't such problem if I open the same pages in Google Chrome browser.
Then, why not just use Chrome, or another browser such as Firefox? Still, I'd upgrade Win XP to SP3 and upgrade IE to 8, as ALLAN suggested. You need SP3 for CONTINUED support from Microsoft for Windows updates. IE8 had some kinks when first released by those problems seem to have been resolved long ago. So, installing SP3 didn't help, but the upgrade to IE8 seems to work, all pages open properly Thanks everybody for advice!
Cheers,
jimmy2Glad you're all straightened out. And you needed to install sp3 anyway, so this was as GOOD an excuse as any to do it

Solve : How 2 stop auto web redirects when hopping on net the first time at start up.?

Answer»

I am a newbie with a slight problem DEALING with autodialers when I turn on the internet.
I need to double check what web addresses my computer is accessing before it eventually finds the Google web site. My PC is working correctly, no probs there.

To access the internet I use, IE7 and run XP Pro
When I begin the process of connecting to the internet, a creme bar appears just above the bottom blue bar, I can at times see various web addresses flash or appear on this cream bar, then disappear. I WANT to be able to read it, but it is just so blindingly fast. I do end up on Google which is where I want to be to search from.

What I want to know, how can I slowdown the internet addresses displayed on the cream bar or keep a record of every web address that has been accessed and what the web site name is.

Has anyone reading this come up with a fix - tweak a utility - made a program that can help me to do this, because I think the original web address is being REDIRECTED somewhere else before it allows me to access the Google search page.

I use dialup as broadband is not available in small remote outback towns in Australia.

I once had a dialer which caused me $300 odd dollars worth of grief grrrrr so when I see web addresses being accessed which I didn't tell it to access, I get a bit frightened.

I WOULD be more concerned with getting rid of whatever might be on your computer!

Go through this thread

Skip the online scan part if you need to, SINCE you are on dial up.

Solve : Some websites do not load, connection timed out help please!?

To start off I have run many antivirus and anti spyware PROGRAMS, ad aware, norton etc. and the problems I am experiencing occur both in internet explorer and mozilla firefox. Some pages load fine, like gmail and google (although the search in google and logging in in gmail are taking longer I think, perhaps it is just me though). On facebook, the connection always times out. I WENT to download safari, and the download column on the left side also had a message that said "connection timed out" although the rest of the page loaded fine. I experience this problem with other pages as WELL, these are just the ones that come to mind. As you can see, this page loaded fine. Also, I checked in the networking portion of task manager and I am NEVER am using more than 10% of my bandwidth. I am using Windows XPMore info...

Solve : Favorites were deleted by new ISP -- help!?

Answer»

Hello everyone!

I recently moved to a new town and had to switch ISPs from Earthlink to Comcast. After the cable guy left this afternoon, I tried to go into my Favorites and saw that they had disappeared -- except for a few folders with Comcast stuff and, oddly enough, a couple of stray favorites that I might have used a few years ago. All of my recent Favorites (last two years or so) were gone.

I did an online CHAT with the Comcast technical support and they did some "checking" on my account; they told me that somehow my Favorites had been accidentally removed during the install process. They said this usually does not happen; clearly they were at fault and yet, it seemed that they could do nothing to help.

When I did some online research about restoring favorites, it always talked about going into the Documents and Settings folder and copying them over, or else using the Import feature in IE. However, the only things that are available for importing/copying are the Comcast junk.

Does anyone have another idea about where my old Favorites might be lurking? I am using IE 6.0 and have an HP Pavilion laptop (zd7140us) running XP. I feel somewhat lost without them, not to mentioned irritated at the new ISP!

Many thanks for any suggestions...Do you have this folder:
c:/Documents and Settings/username/FavoritesHi Broni -

I do have that folder, but the only things it now contains are the files that were installed by Comcast and one or two odd favorites from a long time ago. None of my lengthy collection of recent favorites was in there.

***UPDATE***

just WANT to let everyone know, the problem has been solved! a most helpful Best Buy employee recommended using the Windows System Restore feature, so i simply went in and picked a date from about a week ago. the system RESTORED and rebooted my machine in about two minutes, and the Favorites have reappeared!! i have learned my lesson and just finished exporting the list to a separate file document.

thanks, Broni - and to everyone who took the time to read my plea for help.Quote

Solve : Want to block certain web sites. Ex: myspace.?

Answer»

I was wondering how i can block websites such as myspace and other sites from children with the FireFox browser?

I have looked in tools but haven't had any luck. is there a add-on or do i need some other software?

I have nvidia firewall BUILT in the mobo. and using avg antivirus and spyware scanner. i did have a norton antivirus installed but got rid of it since it wouldn't allow any kind of access from anything VIA LAN PORT.

would the norton antivirus allow blocking of INDIVIDUAL sites that i specify?

Thank you for your time. There are number of ways to do it.
I'd suggest using "hosts" file.
It's located in:
C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc folder
Open it with Notepad.
Let's say, you want to block "myspace"...
At the end of "hosts" file type in:
127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com

Go File>Save, and you're done.
You can add any number of sites, you want...Just remember to use 127.0.0.1 prefix. Why type in google if they want to block Myspace ? ?
But i THINK they get the idea.

Solve : My searches keep getting hi-jacked!?

I would think that someone has dealt with this before, but I can not find it on here. I use IE 7. If I click back and reclick on the link it takes me to a DIFFERENT page of the same kind. When I click back again and click on the link it takes me where I WANTED to go initially. Are you talking about your desktop, or Firefox page?Apologies: meant to say Firefox/Yahoo start page. If i try explorer i can't SEEM to get to Yahoo at all .It may be using a cached page that has errors in it.
Try re-setting your Firefox Start page to none...then login to Yahoo and if it appears normal re-set the page to your homepage...Those errors look to me like some Java problems. Do you have latest Java installed?I tried resetting start page to blank and then using firefox but it insists on LOADING up to yahoo anyway , with same problem . If i use ie i don't have the problem . I tried going to firefox forum for help but when registering it just sent me back to previous register screen; finally i give up . Will try another time . Java is 6 update 2 .. whatever that means .Update :

Have intalled latest versions of Java and Firefox , reset start page to blank & tried accessing yahoo again to reset but all to no avail . Still have same issues when using Firefox . IE loads FINE . Browsed firefox forum but material is much to technical for me so.. guess i switch browsers . Thks for the suggestions though .I DOUBT this is a FireFox issue...sounds like it is on Yahoo's end....do you have a link to the page ?Not sure what you mean by " link to the page " but i tried using Goggle as a start page from Firefox and i still have same issues . I am in process of quering Firefox issues through their web site and will report back to CH forum on results .

My firefox problems with screen display have been solved . After trying a variety of things that had not worked i simply did a search function for firefox.exc and went back to a previous install . Solve : Scrollbars and text boxes are gone.?

Answer»

I have TWO things that are messed up right now..

One, all the scrollbars on the internet are GONE. There's grey where they should be. I can still scroll, I have the scrolly thing on my mouse, and I can do it if i click where the scroller should be and drag it down. I have MSN, if that helps.

Also, most text boxes on the internet are gone. Its just blank where they should be. Some are there, like here, but on yahoo, myspace, and others they're gone. I tried deleting my temporary internet files to see if the cache was messed up, but its still gone.

Help please! I don't like to ask a question with a question, but, are there any words in the "gray area" at the top of your screen? If so, check out the word 'Tools". If you don't have any words, I'd TRY going back to the basics. Get off the net, and reboot your computer- turn it off and on. Then, go "Start" - "Control Panel" and see "System Tools". Click on that and see if that helps.
If it were me,I'd go "Start"-"Run"- type in the word "defrag"and let it clean out your harddrive. Click on the "Legends" and see how cluttered your harddrive is. That's what I'd do to each drive in my computer. I do this monthly to MINE just to keep it running smoothly. I hope this helps, and good luck. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Scrollbar_gone

For some unexplained reason, recently gmail will not show up and i am required to use their html version to view anything. i double-clicked the error on status bar and it says something along the lines of "Could not create object", and gmail directs me to a page telling me that activex is disabled.

i'm usually very good at solving problems, but this one i can't. i tried EDITING the Internet options using custom level and enabling everything to do with java, activex, or scripting. turns out none of those seem to be hindering the browser. my computer is clean of viruses/spyware/malware to my knowledge (from updated scans). I've gone to Add/Remove programs and "uninstall windows components" (unchecked IE) and reinstalled, but it seems that doesn't do a true uninstall. I've also tried the Reset option under advanced.

None of these helped. Any suggestions? The only thing I can think of that has been DONE recently is an attempted windows update that keeps failing, but i'd have to get home to my computer to be able to tell which it is. It's whatever the most recent update was from MS, something to do with XML security. My first thought is this update messed it up, but I can't get it to install, and I'm not sure why it won't.

I recall a Run command that you could use with the xp CD in the drive that will fix most anything to do with IE, but i don't remember it; perhaps someone could relay that to me?TRY Firefox, and see, if same thing happens. You could try re-installing IE7

* Go to Install IE 7 (Click on the Blue link) and download a fresh version of Internet Explore 7.

* Uninstall the version of IE you have installed now, to do so follow these steps:
1 Click Start
2 Click Control Panel
3 Double click Add or Remove Programs
4 SCROLL down until you find Internet Explore
5 Then click Change/Remove, and follow the prompts.

** Please Note: If you are unable to see IE7 in Add or Remove Programs follow these steps:
1 Click Start
2 Click Run
3 Type or copy and paste, into the text box:
%windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe
4 Then Press Enter **
* Restart your computer.
* Install the fresh version of Internet Explore. The iGoogle widget from time to time has issues both in Firefox and IE just so you know.
The problem may well be on there end.
I lost it for 3 days last week.

Solve : Computer will not load certain websites?

Answer»

Hi guys,

I've been having drama lately with my pc. It refuses to load certain sites that load fine on other computers on the network. I have done a reformat and reinstalled Windows as I thought this would fix the problem but the problem continues to happen.

The two sites it happens to the most are www.jamplay.com and the speed test WEBSITE. I can load them fine on my laptop and ipad which connect wirelessly to the same network but they wont load on my pc.

If anyone can HELP that would be great as its getting quite annoying.

Cheers,

I think it's called troubleshooting. The question is not relevant to the problem. And I was not rude to you - I expect you to show the same courtesy. Many times the issue that people experience in not being able to load certain websites properly are the result of disabled plugins or not having the plugins installed at all. Do you have Javascript enabled in your web browser? Also do you have Java and Adobe Flash installed on your COMPUTER (current versions of each program)? Most "speed tester" websites rely on Flash or Java as an interface to perform their tests. If the site requires the PLUGIN and it is not installed the website will not function properly.Quote from: Allan on December 04, 2010, 03:23:47 PM

Has this been resolved? If not, what happens when you try to visit these sites? I see www.jamplay.com uses Flash. Do you have the Flash add-on for your browser installed?

Solve : Firefox - websites suddenly don't work?

Answer»

Last night, my internet was fine until suddenly websites started to stop working. First google (Down as my homepage) wouldn't work, then Hotmail and Facebook and deviantart.

I sit on a white screen or on the previous page until finally it says that the connection has TIMED out. Yet at brief moments it has been okay but then i go back later and again it won't connect.

And from the looks of it, with these problem pages, the router isn't even trying to load them. When it's loading a page, the DSL and Internet lights flash to show it's connecting, but stay green when it's not doing ANYTHING, and that's what it does on pages i try to load. I tried the same websites on the desktop computer and they work fine. A moment ago I used facebook, and now it's not loading it at all

I've system restored twice and used both malware bytes and super antispyware and neither found any viruses that i thought might be causing the problem. Please help. I don't know what systems you are using, i.e. xp, vista ETC. Are you wireless? If so check your connections, I run xp , go to start click and then click connectors, this will show if you are getting a signal from your router.
You may need to reconnect, their should be a box in wireless connections where you can click repair.
Another thing is if you have a back up browser such as Internet Explorer try that, I USE I.E. but have had trouble in the past, so I keep fire fox as aback up so I can get on line and fix I.E. hope this helpswhoop sorry. I'm on windows vista home basic and yes it's wireless. I've checked the connection and it says it's connected, and no issues found. The sites keep coming back then going again then back. It only started happening yesterday. I tried internet explorer and that too was hit and miss.

Thank you for replying and trying to help I have this happen all the time as well. The problem isn't with your computer, or the connection. The network that your modem is connected simply goes offline on a regular basis. To fix this you must reset your router by unplugging it.

Wait about 2 minutes, and plug it back in.

The modem will connect slowly after a 1-minute delay. Then simply go back to your wireless icon to the right corner of your screen and disconnect. Then reconnect.

And viola! Your connection will be "alive" again.Thank you it's working correctly now Haha this is such a COMMON, but simple error. Quote from: rubyleech on November 20, 2010, 03:30:55 PM

Solve : Can no longer download large files on web browsers?

Answer»

I use a laptop with Windows Xp. and I've been using wireless broadband, without any problems for about a year, but I recently starteed to have problems with my FireFox browser, being no longer able to download large files (mp4). Althouhgh it always finishes a large download file as a 100% complete, eventhough only a fraction of the file has downloaded. I restorted to using th Internet Explorer8, to get round the problem, but now IE8 wont download large files either. I then altered browser download config in FF, but that didnt work. Then tried reinstalling FF, and that didnt work either. What shoud I do? Does your ISP have a limit on bandwidth use? Any change is this since you posted your question here? There are many different issues that can result in downloads not completing properly. I find the issue you are experiencing is very COMMON in wireless networks as numerous things can affect your connectivity. Once your connectivity is interrupted the download usually stops and is broken. Reasons why connectivity may drop includes wireless router issues, wireless network card issues, and the LOCAL environment that may have an impact on the signal transmission. WEB browsers are not the BEST way to download large files, especially wirelessly. I strongly recommend installation of a download manager to download large files. A good free download manager is "Free Download Manager." Download managers have the ability to reconnect to the web server you are downloading from if the signal become interrupted and resume downloading where it stopped if the server support resuming.

If you have additional wireless computers/notebooks locally are they experiencing the same issue?

Solve : I E 8 vs Firefox?

Answer» FIREFOX is by far better the IE8, but I still use Chrome and IE8 as well. Each has their strengths and weaknesses. Chrome is the fastest with the fewest problems, but it also has the fewest plugins, plus there is some functionality that I don't get in Chrome that I like better in Firefox.

When I need to use IE8, I use a plugin for firefox called IE Tab Plus. It LETS you open an IE8 window inside of a firefox tab. Sweet!Sweet as it may seem but using it very often will make your firefox crash in the LONG run so be careful using itI dont know why but my computers starts lagging HARD when I play games like BEJEWELED Blitz of FB poker. I tend to use google chrome because it runs smoother than firefox, but that is just me. I do not know if anyone else had that problem, but I only use Google to play games on FB and other websites. I still love firefox thoughI would recommend using Firefox not only because of its easy "find updates for all plugins" function, but also because it has more addons which give you more ability on the web. Maybe this will help you and others decide:

Solve : Firefox rendering issue?

Answer»

I love my Firefox browser and it works better and more securely than IE but it doesn't render correctly at Club Pogo games. I am a dial- up diehard, running Windows ME with an 1.5 ghz Athlon processor. I have 256mb RAM. I get a layering on images. They look like double exposures. Is there a plug in available to correct that? I haven't experienced this problem at other web sites, only Club Pogo. I don't notice it at the FREE pogo games. Maybe they use different image FILE types.
My hard drive is wearing out. I have heard the dreaded "death rattle" many times. COULD it be the FAILING hard drive that is causing the rendering problem?I used to have the same problem at Pogo with my win98 and firefox.

Using the IE Tab was the only way to get it to work right. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

It switches rendering engines with one click.Quote

Solve : Some sites work, others don't. Any ideas??

Answer»

Hotmail will not work, nor will Ebay, plus several other sites. But Google, YouTube and several other sites work just fine. My ISP guy stopped by and remoted into my connection- everything worked great on his machine, so I'm pretty sure it is not an internet connection problem. It is like the computer is blocking some sites. I have a desktop with a wireless internet connection. I have run Spyware blaster, Ad-Aware personal, CW Shredder and AVG anti-spyare. No dice. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Paul.Check your dns settings.

First, try to flush your DNS CACHE: Start > Run "CMD". Then once inside the CMD, just type "ipconfig/flushdns".

After that..

My Network Places > View network connections > Right click on your Local Area Connection, Properties. Once that opens up, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties and make sure it's set to obtain DNS automatically.

If those don't work..

Check your browser to see if it's running off a proxy. For Firefox, to check go to Tools > OPTIONS > Advanced > Network > Settings.

In Internet Explorer, it's... Tools > Internet Options > Connections.

See if any of those ideas work.I TRIED everything you suggested- IE doesn't work right either- but I can't find the 'My Network Places' icon on the desktop, nor by searching. I did go in via Start>Control Panel>Network connections and looked for 'Obtain DNS automatically' but I couldn't see it. Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Paul.Instead of:

ipconfig/flushdns

You need to type in:

ipconfig /flushdns

Notice the space between ipconfig and /flushdnsThanks- still no dice. What else can I do?

Solve : FoxyProxy?

Answer»

I am attempting to use a proxy for the first time and i noticed that it is terribly slow when i try to view VIDEOS and sometimes its just slow in general. My MAIN concern is the video, I wind up SPENDING more time loading the video than watching it. I usually like to learn as I go along, but i think asking for advice is the BEST choice at the moment.

Is it just natural of it to be slow while watching videos, or might it just be the particular IP one I may be using? I am using the Foxyproxy add-on for Mozilla if that information may be of any use.A proxy will be fine for limited bandwidth like emails and basic surfing of text only sites but you should not expect p2p, streaming video etc to be as fast as a direct connection. What you have seen is normal.
Proxies work too slow sometimes especially if you are downloading or uploading something. Just don't use it for heavy tasks.

Solve : INTERNET EXPLORER 9 BETA?

Hello there

Are these "beta versions generally ok to download, and are you likely to have problems.
I am running a windows 7x64 machine and should be ok with this.

I have never really tryed out any of these "beta" versions yet and have always waited to see what problems did arise (if any).

Any advice or tips on trying out these beta versions of explorer.... so far, i have tried the ie9 beta released today. it is generally stable and you definitely do see webpages loading up faster, in comparison to ie8, especially on websites with a lot of GRAPHICS.

you can try it if you want. if you somehow want to uninstall it, you can do so. IE9 is listed under the "View Installed Updates" section within the programs/features panel for which you can uninstall programs in the control panel.

Thanks 2x3i5x

Yeah...BT yahoo's home page has a lot of graphics on it, or rather i have added a lot of other stuff to it, i could do with that loading up a bit faster.

Try Rockmelt, it is a new browser and will blow your mind. It's in limited circulation for now though, and you will need an invite, but it really redefines browsing.

Several things:

It's not a "new browser" judging from the screenshots I've found it's clearly based on either Chrome or Chromium, probably the latter. Both of those are good browsers but "Rockmelt" shouldn't be allowed to take full credit for what they essentially took from another browser.

Seems the big difference here is that they have bookmarks and links running down the two sides of the screen. Yep, that totally redefines browsing*, what with the facebook and social networking links everywhere.

Remove those, and you've just got chrome/chromium with a few UI changes. (Note how I say "changes" and not "improvements")

With regard to Beta software, when it comes to browsers, I personally don't see the point. the last FF beta I used was the beta of 3.0; sure, they changed the back/forward buttons and a few other things, but truthfully it wouldn't have mattered if I had kept with FF 2 and simply upgraded when it was released. Really, If I have a choice between one version marked "stable" and another marked "Beta" I'll go for the former every time... (unless the latter has a feature I really need). It's a DIFFERENT version. For some reason people seem to think that "Beta=Cool". It doesn't. It means it's generally untested and/or in earlier development.

I like the idea of having an Open Beta, but I'll let other people be the free guinea pigs. I'll just use the release version.

* That was sarcasm.

Download a fresh copy of Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older.html and do a reinstall of Firefox over the top of the current version.

If that still causes the same problem then do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox before reinstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall...

Here is the deal, I've been trying to find some forum with this problem and a solution for it. No luck so thought I'd post here and see if I can get some help or a answer to this problem. I run Firefox on my PC first off. So on with the problem. I'll be playing a GAME or poker or just browsing on firefox and all of a sudden I start hearing commercial adds, kinda like a radio station coming threw my PC speakers. I close all programs when this first did it. The noise / sounds were still coming threw. So I opened my Task Manager, to my surprise Internet EXPLORER was running between 20 and 60% of my processing power. So I ended the task, and like MAGIC the sounds stopped. Now I don't mind shutting down IE via task manager when this happens but its rather annoying if I want to open ANOTHER program due to the fact I can no longer see my desktop. So anyone have this problem or know a solution for it Please I beg for a answer. thanks.Sounds like a spyware infection to me.
You should download HijackThis. Run the program, "Do a system scan and save a logfile" and then post the log file in the COMPUTER Viruses and Spyware section of the forum. (Along with the explanation of the problem.) If the log file is too big for a single post then split it into several posts.

Solve : IE History not working for limited users?

Answer»

When I run IE on my recently acquired PC running XP Pro, the history is not accessible for limited users. When I run as an administrator, it works fine. For the limited ACCOUNTS when I open history I just see the .dat file and a couple folders in what should be the history directory. When I got this MACHINE it had IE 6 installed, so I installed IE 7 to see if that would help, but the same thing occurs.

I did some mods to MOVE the home directories to the D: drive so I am wondering if it MAY have something to do with permissions. Meanwhile, I am happily using Firefox and missing Unix, but I would like to find out how to solve this problem...

Get HijackThis: http://majorgeeks.com/Trend_Micro_HijackThis_d5554.html
and post its log at "Computer Viruses and Spyware" forum, just to make sure, you don't have any crap on your machine.you could try re-installing ieVista. Sorry to hear. If your pc has Vista, it should still be under warranty. Have you tried to take it BACK to the store you bought it from?
