Solve : Slow Audio on Netflix? |
Answer» It has never been this bad before. Dell Optiplex 530 with Windows XP, 7 + 10 AH OK.... same box 3 different OS choices and 7 and 10 behave, so its not a hardware issue, its something going on in the background of that XP build most likely. I thought you had a different box for XP and a different one for 7. Thanks for sharing that info. Do you have all 3 OS's on the same hard drive or 7 + 10 on one drive and XP an another or 3 hard drives in this system and each their own OS install in which at boot your using hot key to select which drive to boot from? Here is the method. Install XP first and then partition the drive with a suitable tool. Then install Widows 7 and validate it. Install from MS DVD. Next install Windows 10 from ISO and select custom install. PU om last available partition. The has been for sever month now and has undergone various virus scans. I do suspect there is some kind of background spyware, but have not caudal it with the usual tools. I think it is a commercial product tart claims I installed it. But when I go to remove it, nothing happens. Right now Netflix is running fine. Hard to find a pattern. From what I see. Netflix does a whole lot of buffering and the through put is set to be less than my top ISP speed. So it is hard to catch it doing the audio delay thing. The crapware is called 'ByteFence Anti-Malware' and can not be removed by the normal way. See Here...Thank you Patio. Quote A computer that is affected by a browser hijacker is exposed to high risk security INFECTIONS. To prevent further privacydeclining installation of browser hijackers while downloading free software sample 2 and security issues it's recommended removing any Internet browser settings altering adware as soon as possible. To avoid installation of search.bytefence.com be very attentive when downloading and INSTALLING free software.- From link given above by Patio |

Answer» I am trying to use xmeye.net I have keep trying to log into website and it prompts me to download active X which I have DONE multiply times. I later found out that active x is only supported by IE, (WITHOUT needing extensions) so I decided to try and view website through IE, but STILL not working. I also don't know what IE version I am using, since I can not access the file menu in my IE. (Alt and f11 not working either) I think my IE is out of date or corrupted, if I any one has a LINK so I can update IE, I would appreciate it. I am running windows 10. Solve : Google chrome thinks i'm in Montreal while i am not, can't find a way fix this? |
Answer» Hi The browser gets location information via your IP Address. Oftentimes it doesn't work.According to companies that report on these things: Accuracy rates on NAMING the city from an IP address vary between 50%-80%. Determining the nation of an Internet user is 95%-99% percent accurate, for reasons that have to do with how IP addresses are allocated and registered. Determining the physical location of the user, down to a city or ZIP code, is trickier and less accurate. It depends on what the ISP discloses. For example, the island of Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland which is a province of the United KINGDOM. The Republic's TV provider, RTÉ, provides a web TV service, RTÉ Player, which is available in 2 versions, domestic and international. The international service lacks some programming due to licensing issues. In theory RTÉ makes the domestic service available to all the island of Ireland but some Northern Ireland inhabitants UK-based ISPs issue IP addresses from blocks listed as allocated to Scotland over the sea (where the undersea cable comes from), so they are stuck with the international version. |

Solve : Impression of Microsoft Edge, the new Windows 10 browser? |
Answer» I have noticed Edge being sluggish and more demanding of CPU resources than Firefox. Today, for example, I had 5 or 6 tabs open in Edge, with it being the only browser I had open, and the computer I'm using had some noticeable sluggishness in browsing and when opening other apps such as WPS Writer and WPS Spreadsheets. Granted, I had 2 tabs open for Kelley Blue Book (kbb.com) and it is a heavily tasking website. But, with Edge closed and Firefox open with 25 tabs and then opening kbb.com and obtaining a price quote on a CAR, I did not experience the negative impact I noticed with Edge. |

Solve : Help With Signing Into Chrome on Win10? |
Answer» I have Win10 on this laptop only, and I have Win7 on everything else I have. They are both 64 bit. I am able to sign into Chrome on all of my Win7 machines, but I have tried every trick I know, incl. the exact instructions that Google offered. Let me say here the Google CEO should be shot for the ultra crappy support they offer, and for making FREE volunteers to do all of their dirty Cust. Svc. There, it's out of my system. Logging into google...and/or Gmail is not browser specific... But signing into Chrome is, being that it is a browser. What is the purpose of "signing into Chrome"? If you just want to access your gmail, just go to google.com, with any browser, and sign into your email account. Edit: I'm not a heavy user of Chrome, so I guess you might want to sign in to it to sync bookmarks across devices or some other synchronization. Is that it?Quote What is the purpose of "signing into Chrome"?EFFECTIVELY the same as signing in to Firefox sync, except, I believe, that the settings are stored as part of one's Google account, rather then synchronized between devices. Quite useful in both programs for people with multiple computers. |

Solve : Can not adjust Gmail visual aspect in Firefox.? |
Answer» I do not think this is a OS issue. Maybe not even a browser issue. That said, the page might be explicitly disabling scrollbars. You would think browsers would have options to prevent this to workaround web designs created by egocentric companies who can't accept that their software might have issues, but I can't seem to find any. In Firefox, this can be done using about:config. There's a bevy of options beginning with dom.disable which stops websites from disabling certain features. I used to set most of these to true (which disables this feature being disabled...) to eliminate popups with no close button, no title bar, and so forth. This was before I started using Adblock Plus and now uBlock Origin, so I haven't ACTUALLY set these options for years but I'm fairly sure they still work dom.disable_window_open_feature.scrollb ars is the one in question here but some of the others may come in handy, they're fairly obviously named but a quick Google search will reveal more info if needed. This link may also be handy as a reference: http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries#DOM.Quote from: Calum on June 19, 2016, 02:03:56 AM dom.disable_window_open_feature.scrollbarsAfter I did this in Firefox I could zoom a message in Gmail and see a horizontal scroll bar up to 200% zoom, but it vanishes at the next zoom level (240%). Quote from: Salmon Trout on June 19, 2016, 02:31:34 AM After I did this in Firefox I could zoom a message in Gmail and see a horizontal scroll bar up to 200% zoom, but it vanishes at the next zoom level (240%). Ahh, Gmail is blocked here at work, so thanks for testing.I always zoom using the CTRL key and the keypad plus and minus keys, and I have a Firefox add-on called DEFAULT Zoom Level, which shows the current zoom level in the top toolbar. The zoom level steps in Firefox are a comma-separated list of decimal values held in about.config (toolkit.zoomManager.zoomValues). The default on mine seemed to be 0.3,0.5,0.67,0.8,0.9,1,1.1,1.2,1.33,1.5,1.7,2,2.4,3 so to get a more fine grained series I changed this to 0.1 steps: 0.3,0.4,0.5,0.6,0.7,0.8,0.9,1,1.1,1.2,1.3,1.4,1.5,1.6,1.7,1.8,1.9,2,2.1,2.2,2.3,2.4,2.5,2.6,2.7,2.8,2.9,3.0 I had to restart Firefox for this to take effect. Following this I was able to see that when zooming a message in Gmail the horizontal scroll bar previously enabled vanished out of the bottom of the Firefox window at 220% zoom level. If I then hit F11 for full screen Firefox I was able to get up to 240% still with a horizontal scroll bar. At 250% it vanished. Note: my display resolution is 1920x1080 I don't know if these whole-screen grabs will show up properly: At 240% zoom full screen: For comparison, here is 100% zoom: Thanks to BC_Programmer, Salmon Trout and Calum. Because of your help, now I have tools to improve the visual layout of G mail. Firefox gives you three in-built options—Enhanced, Classic, Blank—for the new tab. I have never been able to tell the difference between Enhanced and Classic, both of which appear in the speed-dial format. Anyway, you can do away with these default options as described below. Get a Dedicated Add-on There are several add-ons designed to put the New Tab page on steroids. Super Start is one of them and is quite popular. It gives you a visual way to maintain your bookmarks and also allows you to organize them into groups. Super Start comes with a handful of muted themes. A tiny notepad and a list of recently closed tabs are tucked away in the corner. The add-on preferences allow you to set Super Start as your home page, view the speed dial in text-only mode, add a search box, etc. New Tab Tools is also worth trying. It combines a speed dial with the launcher from the default home page. You can choose from a light and a dark theme, tweak the number and arrangement of tiles, and even add custom thumbnail images for the tiles. If visual appeal is all you want to add to new tabs, you’ll love Browser Backgrounds. Every time you open a new tab, it randomly displays an interesting background from a predefined set. Add your favorite photos and wallpapers to the mix. Personas Plus is another useful add-on to change Firefox skins quickly. Add a New Theme Firefox themes help you make Firefox feel like home. Install one that adds a nice background in new tabs or even allows you to add a custom wallpaper to them. Certain add-ons like Super Start and New Tab Tools (listed above) have an in-built setting to upload a background image of your choice. Want to preview a theme before installing it? Just hover on its thumbnail on the themes page. Firefox will temporarily display the selected theme instead of the existing one. Take the MAKEOVER a step further by choosing from one of the Complete themes that transform the look of various browser elements including tabs, menus, buttons, the address bar, and even the window frame. For example, FXChrome makes Firefox look like Chrome. Home Page Makeover The default Firefox home page is clean and convenient, but if you want to give it a personal touch, try one of the following alternatives. Switch to Your Favorite Website Setting up Firefox to load one of your favorite websites on startup is easy. OpenFirefox Preferences via Edit > Preferences, and in the General tab, look for theHome Page field. Add a link to your preferred website there. You can simply type it in or select it from your bookmarks. If the page is running in the background, you can also click on Use Current Pages. Of course, this will set up multiple urls as home pages if there are multiple tabs open. This means that clicking on the Home button will load all of the pages listed in the Home Page field. Want the default page back? Not a problem. Restore to Default will bring it back. Hijack the New Tab Page By default, you won’t see the home page unless you set it to load when Firefox starts or unless you press the Home icon. How about making it appear every time you open a new tab? Use one of the following methods. •Install a simple add-on like New Tab Homepage. •If you already use an add-on like Tab Mix Plus to manage tabs like a pro, make the home page your New Tab page from the add-on preferences. •Type about:config in the address bar, accept the warning that appears, search for browser.newtab.url, and change its value from about:newtab toabout:home. Follow up this tweak by setting a super-useful star screen like Start.me as your home page. Total Visual Control The UserStyles.org website has a decent collection of themes for the Firefox home page as well as the New Tab page. Use it with the Stylish add-on and you can gain complete control over how Firefox looks. Here’s how you can go aboutimplementing user styles. What Does Your Start Page Look Like? Chrome does seem to have the upper hand when it comes to awesome start screens, but Firefox gives you more options for customization than any other browser. Take advantage of this Firefox freedom. Begin by tweaking that start page. It may or may not drastically improve your workflow, but it will brighten up your browser and give you some nice tools to work with. |

Solve : How to see list of recent searches in a web form in Chrome?? |
Answer» USING the latest Chrome build on Windows 7 I can't seem to find what used to (I think) be a feature a while ago in most browsers. A frequently visited webpage with a search field, when clicked, would show a LIST of recent searches performed on that page in that field. I'm not talking about search engine autocomplete or suggestions. I'm not talking about form fill (i.e. personal INFORMATION). I'm not talking about omnibar search history. I'm simply talking about a SPECIFIC field on a specific page keeping a history of searches. This was in the form of caching or something similar but I cannot see an option to enable this in Chrome and cannot find any references to this on the internet. How to enable this option? We have an internal site at work which I often perform searches in and suggestions of recent searches on that page would be very convenient.the 'most visited' addon seems close to the item described. ive recently installed this in chrome. if not, the link below will show similar addons to.. most visited. see link for more info. also, for all others who might pass this way, as a search result. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/most-visited/obbnkbhoknnlndofpoikddaompgmiioc/related?hl=en CTRL H |

Solve : Cannot sign in to aol mail, yahoo mail, google.com,? |
Answer» This morning I tried to sign in on my Home Page to my AOL mail and got the message that it couldn't find the SERVER. I then put aol.com into the browser and got the AOL home page, but it refused to let me GET to my email page. Tried my yahoo email and that would work EITHER. It would let me connect to NOAA (weather), CH, a photog website, and ebay. I figured it might be a PROBLEM with my browser, Firefox, so I switched to Microsoft Edge and that did exactly the same thing. Some sites would come up and many would not. I have Kaspersky Total Security and updated Firefox LAST evening before signing off. I have no idea if it has something to do with Kaspersky or settings somewhere that I know nothing about. Has anyone else had this problem. I am running Windows 10 and my internet is through Hughesnet which I've had a problem with lately. Keep getting DNS server messages. Have no idea what that means. If anyone has had this problem and/or knows how to rectify it, please let me know. I will just have to keep checking back for answers as I can't get to my email to check for notices of answers. Thank you. |

Solve : SQL server error 40 not allowing me to use any Web browser.? |
Answer» Forgive me if this post is in the wrong place, I couldn't think of a better one. Yesterday I got on my pc and an error showed up saying "A network-related or instance specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL server" "(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)." Along with other things but I think that is the most important part. I had never heard of these SQL servers but after doing some research the most common thing people would say is to make sure my SQL browser servers were running and to go through some steps to turn them one, one of which was through the command prompt which didn't work. Another was to just find it in my program files but the only things in there were 2 folders 1 TITLED "Microsoft SQL Server" and one titled "Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition" and I couldn't find anything useful in there. I'm thinking somehow something got deleted on my computer so I don't have the SQL server browser anymore but I'm not sure. If anyone knows about the SQL servers and could maybe help that would be greatly appreciated. I should also add that my computer does say I am connected to my Internet and I am even able to open Steam and chat with friends but not able to open the steam store, and also I'm on Windows 10 and have been for a while now.Have you run an extensive VIRUS scan with an up to date ANTIVIRUS and ran the free or paid for malwarebytes to ensure your system didnt get hit with anything? Are you able to use a restore POINT to go back to a time when your system didnt have this issue? |

Solve : Can't connect to the Internet on browsers? |
Answer» When I start my PC, I can sometimes use access sites on my browsers (Chrome/Mozilla/IE) for a short time, a SHORTER time, or I can't at all. In the end it seems LIKE I'm not connected to the INTERNET regardless, but this is apparently only HAPPENING with the browsers. Also, I just ran Tor, which I never use, and it updated and worked normally. And when I boot in Safe Mode I can use all of the browsers normally. I also noticed that when I boot my PC in normal mode, and for the short time that I can (sometimes) use my browsers, when I go to Google, it looks like 2007-something Google, really archaic. In Tor and in any other browser in Safe Mode it looks normal. I have no clue what's happening or what's causing it. Please HELP, and thank you. |

Solve : Firefox Flash Player Plug-in turns on microphone? |
Answer» A few days ago I noticed that when I played videos online, there was an odd echo, and at times, when I turned the audio up, I'd get feedback through the speakers. I determined that the microphone had somehow got turned on, and was playing through the speakers. After doing some troubleshooting (which included comparing processes RUNNING during normal operation and during the malfunction) I've come to the conclusion that it's the Flash Player Plug-in that's causing this to happen because the problem goes away if I go into the Task Manager and shut down the "Process Tree" related to the Flash Player Plug-in. |

Solve : internet browser jumps? |
Answer» Hi Hopefully this will make sense to someone. When I use my home built desktop with windows xp on the internet I use 3 different browsers , aol 9.1, firefox 22 and internet explorer 8. All are up todate and are usually open at the same time. Resently when looking at 1 browser it will change automaticly to another , it started off being I.E. that it changed to now it's aol. Does anyone now why / what's going on and how to stop it. Thanks , AdamI run Firefox as well as IE and I get messages when ever I use IE asking to be the default browser and I tell it NO, so that Firefox remains the default. I use IE only for testing HTML, other than that I dont trust it for anything else. I have used Firefox since version 6 and I have had very few problems with it. Do you get messages popping up asking to make each one the default in which you may be accidentally changing each one to default by clicking on the box to get rid of it, but the option is a designation to make that one the primary browser? Hi I did use to ( especially in IE ) but not for a while since I put tick in the box to stop it appearing. One thing I did notice YESTERDAY and that was the box was ticked for - always dial default connection , I've now changed it to never dial but would that cause it to keep changing even if it was already on line ? It has DONE it again tonight but it brought IE up on top for a change. Adamhmm... only thing I can think of is to either uninstall and reinstall AOL and see what happens or baseline the system by rebuilding it from system recovery set. You have something strange going on and not sure the exact cure for this. I havent used AOL in over 10 years with version 6.0 so not sure about how that comes into play with this issue. I would think that building it back up clean after FIRST backing up your personal DATA to external drive that this should be cured possibly. Hi bit of an update I think I finally found out what was causeing this problem. In interent options / CONNECTIONS I've change the settings from always dial my connection to never dial connection and it seems to have solved it. Thanks , AdamThanks for responding back with the solution that works in case anyone else has this issue and Googles a fix for it, your CH info they may find helpful. |

Solve : Google redirected me twice (browser hijack?)? |
Answer» I'm not sure if this is the right subforum for my QUESTION. When I used the home button (google.com (I'm sure)) on my browser today, it redirected me to google.comebay.com twice and then it just started going to normal google.com. The site that showed up on google.comebay.com looked EXACTLY like google, but I didn't USE it for obvious reasons. Do you think I have a browser hijack or something? I checked all my addons and everything seems fine. Should I just ignore this? Maybe it was just something weird with the DNS?It sounds like it could be a Google Redirect Virus, and if it is, it could be serious. You need to CHECK if it is and then remove it asap. If you google "Google Redirect Virus" you'll probably find a STEP by step guide which will explain it. Good luck! |

Solve : Internet Speed Check? |
Answer» Hi, I know this isn't probably the best place to put this, but I'm new I really don't know where to post it. My Average Download speed, tested with speedtest.net, is 3.81 mbps, is that... good? The obvious question, what speed are you paying for? And, how does your actual speed compare to what you're paying for? Most ISPs offer a range of speeds and you get what you pay for, but physical limitations such as your distance from your telephone company nearest "Central Office", or relay point, if you're using DSL from your phone company, can limit your speed. For an example of offerings of multiple speeds from an ISP, see http://www.centurylink.com/home/internet/ and click on the Speeds tab there. Why did you choose Clear Wireless Internet? Do you know anyone nearby who is using it? If so, and if you can talk to them, you could ask how the service is working for them. edit: Is http://internet.clear.com/ your ISP? |

Solve : Need help with accessing a specific website? |
Answer» I have been on a social networking internet site for over 6 years (MeetMe.com)... yesterday *poof* I couldn't access it. When I try to access it, nothing happens (I just stay on my home page) OR it will load, after about 10-15 minutes, but the login page is not correct... just a list versus pictures and correctly formatted. If it does load (incorrectly) when I try to enter my login information it just goes right back to the offkilter login screen (in other words... will not log me in). I can't access the site from my laptop or my Android device. My son is on the same site and he can login just fine (on his netbook) AND he can also access my profile from his netbook as well! A sidenote I was on the site with both my Android AND laptop at the same time before the problem occurred. My son is on the same site and he can login just fine (on his netbook) AND he can also access my profile from his netbook as well!Try creating a new account and or post your protection application installed. |

Solve : Please Help...Mozilla problems? |
Answer» Hi. So recently my computer was infected with spy/adware..such as that *CENSORED* Babylon toolbar, FunMoods, IMtoolbar and some Turbo thing. I ran a SpyHunt scan with the free scanner and it found several threats, however, as I don't have the money right now it of course told me to buy the program to get rid of it. I just clicked on the threats ad REMOVED them myself.. Now, ONE of the threats was in the C:/Users/Vaio/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Profiles folder and stupidly, desperately wanting to get these annoying things outta my system deleted the folder. I then got then a message saying it cannot be loaded, so I deleted the profiles.ini file to create a new profile..Great, now my Mozilla WORKS..my bookmarks re however, GONE.. I am devastated. I had several bookmarks in there. I then installed "Recuva" to attempt to get the deleted folders from the recycle bin back..however, of course that particular one won't show. Please, please dear god let me be able to get my bookmarks back. I am going to pull out all of my hair..Please, tell me there is SOMETHING I can do?! I feel like an idiot right now. Thank you... I have faith I can return them. Heeellp!!!!Sorry, your faith is not well founded. |

Solve : Is it safe to enter payment card details?? |
Answer» Hello, just found this forum, hope you can help. I usually only enter my payment card details if the webpage (or frame within a page) is an https: address. You should always stick to that way of identifying websites that are safe for online financial transactions. Anytime you encounter a website which does not switch from http:to https: when you get to the stage where it asks for credit card info, proceed no further. In addition to the https: prefix for the web address, your browser should show an icon (usually an image of a lock on locked position) indicating the site is secure. Quote from: ImnoGuru on June 27, 2013, 07:49:46 AM As a general rule of thumb davenine, entering credit card details on any website can leave you exposed to credit card fraud.Yes, you are paranoid. I've made scores of online purchases with a credit card. If you worry about using your card card on amazon.com, newegg.com, target.com, kohls.com, lowes.com, etc. - I could go on and on - then you should probably should not have a credit card since using a credit card on such sites is no riskier than using a credit card in a restaurant or retail store. Quote from: soybean on August 07, 2013, 07:45:40 AM then you should probably should not have a credit card since using a credit card on such sites is no riskier than using a credit card in a restaurant or retail store. I'd go even further- With an on-line site, many browser features such as the lock icon, https, and other stuff protects you. With a retail location, you merely have to assume that the retail outlet and all the framework between it taking your data and using that data to actually charge you is secure- there is no guarantee. You don't get a "lock icon" basically- you have no idea if it's actually secure or if anybody can stick a flash drive in the office PC and steal all the credit card numbers and other information they want.I just recently had a credit card fraud issue. Thee is no indication the vendor was at fault. It is taking me a period of time to get this fixed. It there is farad, part of the burden falls non you even if you have taken every precaution. No, I am not really paranoid about credit cards. I have used credit cards for years here and inn other places. Only recently have I had problems. Apparently credit card fraud is a big criminal activity. Limiting your loss is a good idea. But why let a criminal have even $38 of your money. Some merchants will accept a money order for an item. That can delay deliver for several days. And there still is the risk the money order could get lost or stolen. Here are typical promises made by big companies in the USA Quote American Express As I stated earlier, even if fraud is found, the burden falls on you to do something Never assume the company really wants your best interest. Two days ago i was stone-walled be a very reputable firm, even after I had reported the fraud weeks earlier. It will take a few more days to find out if they will credit me the loss. Be careful.Quote from: soybean on August 07, 2013, 07:45:40 AM you should probably should not have a credit card since using a credit card on such sites is no riskier than using a credit card in a restaurant or retail store. There's nothing wrong with a strong level of paranoia or skepticism for that matter soybean. I actually have quite a few credit cards, sometimes I think too many... (some are even in my name too Hahahahaha.) Quote from: BC_Programmer on August 07, 2013, 04:50:56 PM With a retail location, you merely have to assume that the retail outlet and all the framework between it taking your data and using that data to actually charge you is secure- there is no guarantee. You don't get a "lock icon" basically- you have no idea if it's actually secure or if anybody can stick a flash drive in the office PC and steal all the credit card numbers and other information they want. There have also been recent cases where business owners have been hacked in such a way and held to ransom by the hacker to release their COMPUTERS and information back to them. Russian hackers hold medical centre to ransom Quote from: Geek-9pm on August 07, 2013, 05:11:53 PM Apparently credit card fraud is a big criminal activity. Limiting your loss is a good idea. But why let a criminal have even $38 of your money.or pay $50 excess for a lesser transaction. (Depending on your provider.) I think I'll keep my suspicions at a high level when using credit anytime. Quote from: ImnoGuru on August 08, 2013, 12:16:59 AM There's nothing wrong with a strong level of paranoia or skepticism for that matter soybean.paranoia is by definition irrational. The problem in this case is that- as you've shown- it's EASY to cite some specific counter-case where somebody having been paranoid would have helped them or prevented something. EG. if the owners of the business you mention were paranoid. But I've always thought of that more like a "stopped clock" argument- which is to say, it stems from this logic. A. Bad thing can happen. (For example, Credit card fraud) B. By holding a irrational skepticism, we can prevent that thing from happening to us. C. Therefore, irrational skepticism is good! It's a logical fallacy- I believe it's called "AFFIRMING the consequent". You could make a equally rational argument to carry a non-red parachute everywhere you go because there is a possibility that you might need to help a bull escape from a fire in a third story apartment. (this why it cannot be red). Of course the first actually has some reasonable syllogism but it's still highly unlikely; beyond basic awareness any further skepticism will typically result in simply making things harder on yourself. BC is right. Being paranoid should not be considered normal. The better term would be cautious or even skeptical. One needs to be careful, cautious or skeptical with credit card plans. If you plan to travel, even inside your own country, you need either a credit card or travelers checks in addition to cash. Things happen. As for buying online, here in our house we do it very often. About three times we had to take action because of some kind of fraud with credit cards. I don't know of anything I could have don differently. There is a new movie out called "Identity Theft" and has been in theaters. This is trailer from You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO12W35DpsQ Very funny. |

Solve : Firefox 23 Released? |
Answer» Mozilla Firefox 23.0 released. One odd thing that I have noticed with 22 is that if I have the browser open for a while 5 or 6 hours of surfing etc, my system memory shows more and more used over time to around 1.4GB even if browser tabs have been closed etc. If I close FF and re-open it, it goes back to Windows 7 32-bit running on 750MB idle and 850MB of 3GB RAM with browser open clean to home page of google. Not sure if the memory consumption is a leak or a temp cache in RAM that gets dumped when the browser is closed and reopened. This is not 22-specific and has been a massive issue with Firefox pretty much since it was released. As far as I understand it it actually stems from their use of a conservative Garbage COLLECTOR framework in C++. I could go into numerous technical details but the jist of it is that Garbage Collection has been shown to be unreliable in languages like C++- the Garbage Collector has to be conservative because if it was to cleanup a object that was REFERENCED the program would crash, so if in doubt it let's it sit around. having more add-ons seems to cause more problems; and based on about:memory after having a large working set in FF a lot of the "leaks" appear to be in the Javascript interpreter. Quote At the bottom of the list for many versions is "Miscellaneous memory safety hazards" with versions appended to them and it appears that even in FF 23 there are some still outstanding to be labeled as critical. That is a list of fixed issues. Quote That is a list of fixed issues. Thanks for setting me correct on this. I read the title of "Security Advisories for Firefox" and was thinking that they released it and still had issues outstanding. Looking back I now see the... Quote Fixed in Firefox 23 which missed my eyes initially.. lol Also thanks for clarification on the memory issue that I just noticed in FF 22 that I guess has been an issue for a while now and I didnt notice it with prior versions because I wasnt looking for it. I just stumbled upon it with Win 7 and resource gadget that shows CPU and Memory use that was built into Win 7. Already know about the risk of still running gadgets. The risk only comes with running dirty ones from what I read. |
