Solve : WOT pulled from Firefox, Chrome? |
Answer» From life-hacker (Last month): The German newspaper FAZ managed to get a statement from Mozilla about the removal. ACCORDING to the statement, Web of Trust was pulled because it violated add-on guidelines, and specifically transparency in regards to the add-on's collection of user DATA.So if I want to see how WOT rates any web site I have to USE my Android tablet? Web of trust collects personal information about it's users and sells it to third party advertising COMPANIES. Probably best not to use it at all, to be honest. How strange they named it "Web Site of Trust". Too bad. It seemed like a very GOOD idea. I have an old smartphone I seldom use. I think I will remove the SIM and clear out all the personal data and use it only when I want to use the WOT plug in. |

Solve : Why Does Login Information Disappear?? |
Answer» Hello: Wondering if someone could tell me or explain why my login data or information disappears when I log on to my PC each day after I have LOGGED off and put it on "sleep" mode the night before? I'm referring to sites which require a username and password or any other login info. An example being where I've entered my username and then clicked on "remember me" so that I don't have to continuously REPEAT the entry process each time I log back on to the particular site. Now the username or information NORMALLY stays present during the course of the day but it seems it only disappears when I log on to my PC the next day and attempt to log into a specific website that require a username and password, etc. Is there something in the PC settings maybe that I need to set in order for the information to remain so that I don't have to re-enter it each time I access the particular site(s) that require it? I'm using IE-11 if that helps. Appreciate any help in the matter. Thanks. I haven't used IE11 for quite some time, so I can't really directly address the issue you have with it. I SUGGEST using Firefox. The save-password feature in it has always worked fine for me. It is a THING the browser does. Which browser do you use? Quote from: oaky on December 06, 2016, 09:29:25 AM I'm using IE-11 if that helps.Websites use cookies to remember whether you are logged in or not, I presume you aren't clearing cookies and haven't enabled any options such as "Delete browser history on exit" in your browser? Does it do it for all websites or just some?Seems it does it for some sites and then maybe other sites the next day. It's a browser setting...have you checked all those ? ? Any recent changes to the system ? ? |

Solve : Google Chrome history sync? |
Answer» I installed chrome on my computer. I did not sign in Chrome . I went to facebook. Normally, chrome remembered it in history. After few days I logged in Chrome. My question is "when I logged in, did chrome synchronised history from my computer( I mean on history of websites that I visited before I logged in chrome)?" Geek he was not askin for browser comparisons...Using ANOTHER browser would help identify the issue being the browser.. The OP did not make it clear why he thinks some Chrome feature is the cause of the symptoms. Here's a video how to try and get Chrome to behave. (Sip ads.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mGi_7iyiU4 There is no issue...he asked if chrome logged history if he was not logged in...answer was No. Kinda simple if you read the Post.Thank you very much. I opened this topic because I noticed something weird. 5 days ago I was looking some photos on my USB. I opened them in Windows Photo Viewer (that build in viewer that is in Windows). I never opened any IMAGE file in Google Chrome but I saw every image file in history in Google chrome. When I REMOVE my USB Chrome can load that images from history even if USB is removed. I saw that Google Chrome loads them from cache. Why Google Chrome remebered that pictures. Also it doesn't happens when I open images from hard drive. I have ESET antivirus so I dont think that I have a virus. Why is Google Chrome doing that? I think that Google Chrome is not synchronising cache but I am not sure.Thats chrome seeing Windows pic view history...it would happen with any browser you opened a pic with...I want to make sure that you understood me. When I sad I logged in chrome I mean on SIGN IN CHROME function in chrome settings. When I sign in chrome, chrome OFFERS me to choose what I want to sync.Quote from: patio on December 01, 2016, 02:52:38 PM Thats chrome seeing Windows pic view history...it would happen with any browser you opened a pic with... So, that is normal? And also can you explain what you mean by Chrome seeing Windows Photo Viewer history.Any file management functions in Windows ...whether good or a bad feature..remember the last state that function was used...for example if i save a pic to a specific folder...even after a re=boot the next time i save a pic it'll open to that folder by default... Personally i hate it as a "feature"...but it is what it is. |

Solve : Youtube and adblock plus - long delay before video starts? |
Answer» FIREFOX & AdBlock PLUS and Youtube video delays Over the past month I have noticed long delays between when clicking on a video to play and the video playing. I have plenty of bandwidth with 25/5 mbps broadband internet package and no one is using up all the bandwidth when this happens. Two DIFFERENT computers have the same issue. It use to work where you click on the video and the ad isnt played and the video plays within about 2 seconds or less. Now its like there is a 8 to 20 SECOND delay or longer on the rare occasion with a dash cartwheel and then the video FINALLY plays. I gave it some time to see if it would correct itself and it isnt, so figured I'd check here to see if anyone else has had issues like this. Was wondering if anyone else running AdBlock Plus with Firefox was running into this issue of long delay and cartwheel before the video will play from youtube? If you turn off AdBlock Plus, does the problem stop? Try these: 1.disable "allow some non-intrusive advertising" - try again 2.disable all other extensions, try again with only ABP enabled 3.if it still happens, reset firefox. |

As in it lacks the complexity to detect smart trojans and malwares. Any true? Here is some background about MSE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Security_Essentials Notice that some big guys were critical of MSE because it gave users another choice in a field they thought overcrowded. Quote Microsoft's announcement of its own AV software on 18 November 2008 ...Trend Micro claimed that the integration of the product into Microsoft Windows would be a violation of competition law.So you might expect that Microsoft would not make the free tool very powerful or impressive. However, it does do a good job keeping out malware. Right now I have it on my Windows XP machine. Works for me. |

Solve : Weird behavior in chrome? |
Answer» Hey sorry if this is a dumb question. The CHROME pdf viewer keeps opening I close it before it reads whatever pdf it is. Could This be some kind of attempt at executing some javascript? This is sometimes accompanied by pop up webpages that do a bunch of redirect. Never SEEN it until recently. HP laptop running Windows 10. Thanks. What do you expect Chrome, or any browser, to do when it encounters a PDF file? Quote This is sometimes accompanied by pop up webpages that do a bunch of redirect Install Malwarebytes and do a full scan, sounds like you have something else going on here. PDFs are safe unless you follow a URL within one that requires you to click on. Also what websites are you at when you have this issue or is it all websites?Or you can try disabling chrome pdf viewer and enabling the ADOBE one. If the issue still persists, than you may need to look out for anti-malware programs. Quote from: Gusey on October 09, 2016, 12:28:47 AM Hey sorry if this is a dumb question. Solve : IE and face book? |
Answer» For the last few days, I cannot post anything on face book. I use IE as my default browser, but I opened face book in google chrome and everything worked... I did clean out the cache and did a SYSTEM restore to no avail. It must be a PROBLEM with IE since it works on Google Chrome... Would appreciate any help with this..I'd run malwarebytes to make sure your browser/computer didnt get hit by something. The free edition can clean up problems LIKE this. The other cause for a problem like this is when the browser properties are misconfigured such as someone messing around in the options to connect through a proxy etc.It may be a BLESSING you can't get on Facebook...just sayin.I can get on face book, just can't post stuff. |

Solve : Win 10 chrome v. 53 wildly high data upload/sent bandwidth? |
Answer» Win 10 chrome v. 53 with KIS, all other extensions disabled, why is the browser upload bandwidth wildly high. windows update is disabled?Upload bandwidth has nothing to do with Win updates...those would be DLoad bandwidth... Who told you that ? ?...Source please ? ? It's a default Windows 10 option. in Windows Update, Advanced Options, Choose how Updates are Delivered. The option is "Updates from more than one place" and can be turned on or off. If enabled there is the option to either restrict providing and receiving update data to the Local Network, or allow it to work across the Internet. The default options are to have this setting ON and set to "PCs on my local network, and PCs on the Internet". More info.BC_Programmer pretty much COVERED the reference on the ms updates distribution. you COULD google it. this is not a closely kept SECRET. there was plenty of debate about how underhanded it is to literally steal your bandwidth. i do get it is COUNTER intuitive but it is a fact. i can see i am in the wrong replace if this question has devolved into a discussion of elementary ancient history. little chance the actual problem will get solved here. my bad.Quote i can see i am in the wrong replace if this question has devolved into a discussion of elementary ancient history. little chance the actual problem will get solved here. my bad. Solve : flash player does not load in chrome and firefox? |
Answer» i'm trying to play www.wgt.com world golf tour i heard that adobe flash player plugin was flagged by google due to security concerns? is that true? LAST I heard it was use at own risk. Very low risk of any problems unless you go to questionable sites from what I have been told. Firefox to protect the public switched flash to DISABLED by default and its simple to teach Firefox to accept the risk and run it anyways. It was a smart decision on Mozilla's part to prove that they strive for EXCELLENCE with security concerns to BEST protect the public when using their browser. It also washes them of any security liability had they known of the issue and not taken such action to protect the customers. |

Solve : Suddenly cannot access Yahoo mail w/Firefox, only with IE? |
Answer» I use FF 48.0.1 (that's what it says in "about"), with Win7Pro. Just lately when I try to access my att dot net email in FF, I get the following message: "We're SORRY. We cannot process your request at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. For more information, please contact us." The "contact us" is a link to a page for att services and asks for phone # or zip code. NOTE, I can log in just fine to my account from IE. I tried copying and pasting the link from IE into a FF tab, but get the same results. The email account is not a straight "yahoo (dot) com" address, but rather through my ISP and is an "sbcglobal (dot) net" address. |

Solve : IE - height of navigation and status bars? |
Answer» I have 2 laptops side by side running Windows 10. I have www.google.com in IE 11 (same versions) up on both machines. Both machines have a SR of 16:9 and the Windows text size is 9 (default). I'm only showing the ADDRESS and menu bars at the top and the status bar at the bottom of IE on both machines. In the IE viewing area, where URLs are shown and wwww.google.com is being shown, all text and images are exactly the same size on both machines. But the text, icons, and bar height of the IE address bar, the menu bar, and the status bar are different in size on the 2 machines? Can anyone explain this and how this can be adjusted? Thanks. craigtRight clik the bars...select use small icons...I think that 'using small icons' only applies to the task bar. The task bar text, icons, and line height are the same on both machines.Did you TRY using the mouse to resize these bars by highlighting the lower edge ? ?Hey Patio, I don't know how to do that. craigtWhen you have it placed proper at bottom edge just hold down mouse button and drag upwards...it'll be a up/down arrow... |

Solve : Opera Versions 12.15 and 31.0.? |
Answer» I've been using Opera for years and have had no problems with it. I have two versions on my desktop 12.15 and 31.0. My main reasons for keeping and using version 12.15 are, it is customisable in that you can reposition you tab and address bars, I much prefer to have mine at the bottom as opposed to at the top. The second reason I still use it is that it has a good feed reader far better than most I've seen and tried. |

Solve : Removal of 'Pop up Blocker strip' IE? |

Answer» Hi guys, |

Solve : reinstall IE6 browser? Error message in here...? |
Answer» I'm running IE6 but my Ooutlook Express mail program continues to use OE5. I thought "Windows update", downloaded from Microsoft home page would update the OE program.... It didn't. A previous installation has pending work requiring a reboot. You need to restart your computer to complete that instalation before running IEsetup. Set-up will now close. When I try to install programs in the 'start>settings>CONTROL panel>add remove programs', there is only one program listed; "Adobe Acrobat 5.0". I'm running a Systemax desktop PC, Athlon processor {AZ11 mainboard}, Windows ME OS. I've tried restarting several times but get the same dialog box. Also recent BIOS, OS problems have occured which I think I have 90%solved {at least it runs efficiently now as opposed to repeated failed start-up's.}. I can post more info if needed. I'm no PC wizard, only a car mechanic, so please keep the replies fairly elementary if possible. Thank's for any help!!! Mike Do a system restore to an EARLIER point when all was well. Now do an update for Internet Explorer. Alan <>< Since you have an older OS, and IE7 is the latest version of IE, I think you're going to have problems with this. End of support for Windows 98, Windows Me, and Windows XP Service Pack 1. An email client CALLED Thunderbird is often recommended here in the forum. You can get it here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/ Is this what you tried to download: Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1? If not, you might try downloading it from there.Quote Do a system restore to an earlier point when all was well. Now do an update for Internet Explorer. Thank's Alan, but as I mentioned, I've had several problems getting the BIOS re-flashed, re-installing most of my software {including IE6] and since all the bugs are not yet re-solved, I haven't created a restore point to select. All restore points I selected before this issue were lost in there somewhere I do have 2 'system check points' in the 'System Restore' menu, but attempts to restore to those dates yeild a dialog box after re-start = "system restore was unsuccessful". I have software to recover files from the application file - "C\restoration" where I have recovered files deleted from recycle bin. I may be able to use that program to recover those restore points. I haven't tried that yet. Thanks for the idea!!! Quote I tried re-downloading the 'ie6setup' file from the MS wesite, but now I get a dialog box when trying to install the new file. lectrocrew you can not uninstal IE because it is a part of WinXP, for uninstalling try to use WinXP Manager v4.95.2 or other program like this. Solve : organizing favorites? |
Answer» is there any tool or function or option part of IE (I'm currently using 6.0) or that I can get (download MAYBE) that can help organize favorites? Firefox can what, go through the favorites and have them checked if they are still valid/live sites? How does that work? Where, in Firefox's menu, is that option? There's an extension for it. I saw it not too long ago, but I forgot the name.Does it bug anyone that the favourites list and the start menu don't automatically sort alphabetically? Here's a useful hack, but only for those comfortable in the registry. Start-->Run-->Regedit HKCU-->Software-->Microsoft-->Windows-->CurrentVersion-->Explorer-->MenuOrder. Delete the sub keys. Right-click MenuOrder-->Permissions. Click Advanced. Uncheck the "INHERIT..." box. Click OK; Copy. Uncheck the "Full Control" box for you and any groups you're in. Click OK. There you go: permanently sorted menus. Why on earth should it be that complicated though?! |

At Least With IE you know where you standQuote I sometimes wonder , what if the same amount of people were Trying to crack Fire Fox, how many unknown Vulnerabilities would show up? The source code for firefox is open source, ANYONE can try to find exploits. The source code for IE is not public. Only those with a good amount of skill can crack it. So much for knowing where you stand. QUOTE The Title explains it all, can you belive it man IE7 just came out today and it already have problems.. that sux, I use Firefox and i like it.. what about you guys.. Why do you think this is so unbelievable? It fits perfectly. Well, I'd say that vulnerability is, for all practical puposes, insignificant to most IE users. Here's a quote from the article: "But Thomas Kristensen, Secunia's chief technology officer, TOLD CSOnline.com that "it is hard to exploit the flaw because it requires the attacker to lure someone to a malicious site, and for the attacker to know what other secure site the visitor might simultaneously have open". Quote Well, I'd say that vulnerability is, for all practical puposes, insignificant to most IE users. Here's a quote from the article: You're right, that only applies to idiots. Wait, isn't that the largest ethnical group of IE users?lol... |

Solve : IE 7- home page? |
Answer» I recently installed IE 7 thinking it would offer more security, and FIND it is now a problem. I had set my HOME page for yahoo mail sign in page. My folks at home use yahoo mail and feel it easier to just open the explorer and have the yahoo sign in page ready. Now after, installing this Internet explorer 7 it keeps taking me to the following http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=54834 then it changes to the following http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx page of msn and nothing is displayed except a blue screen. EVEN after setting 'yahoomail' as the 'home page'. Any one with suggestions to solve this problem. Get Firefox.lol Good point, Firefox rulesIf you type the yahoo mail address in the address box, will the page open? Any problem going to other sites? I don't use Yahoo mail but, as a test, I just set the home page in IE7 to https://login.yahoo.com/config/mail?.intl=us, closed IE, then re-opened it. No problem. But, yeah, just install Firefox if you don't want to spend time troubleshooting this. Thanks every one for the advise to 'install firefox'. How do i get Firefox, is it free? Where can i get to download the same? Soybean, I am able to got to all other sites no problem. It is just that the home page never changes, even after changing it to anyother page, which includes a BLANK page. in the internet options box the page which was set as the Home page can be read so which means it has been saved by somehow this page i mentioned keeps coming up Thanks cheers The_SaintQuote Thanks every one for the advise to 'install firefox'. How do i get Firefox, is it free? Where can i get to download the same? Firefox is entirely free, it is open source. http://www.getfirefox.com Firefox 2 is out since yesterday which is the new and improved Firefox. I haven't tried it yet, but I just know it's going to be better than IE7. As Firefox has always been and always will be. What adware/spyware removal tools do you have installed? I think, if you do some GOOGLE searching, you'll find this issue is not directly related to IE7. It can also affect previous versions of IE. Here's evidence of this: IE6 always goes to "runonce" screen. It mentions Adwatch. Are you using that? Here's another discussion on this issue: how to disable the annoying "http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx, IE 7 |

Answer» hi, im new here and im not to knowledgeable about computers like most of you, but i have a problem with my internet explorer. i try to access it but the window never appears. i double click on the i.e. icon and the hourglass appears for about five seconds then goes away and the window does not pop up. i've tried accessing it through the start menu and the PROGRAM files but no luck. and ive been considering dl firefox for awhile now. do you recommend it over i.e.? Naturally.AOL is a P.I.T.A. AFter you contact them and they tell you nothing, you might try uninstalling AOL and reinstalling. "m using windows xp and im not sure what service pack i have" Go to Control Panel & double click System. The opening screen will tell you what SP you have.
