To begin with Put all your Internet settings on default.
And clear all cookies and history.

And also you could remove this thread with the same problem that you have put in Microsoft Windows,so that people are not HELPING you at two places for one problem.

Also...if you use IE7, go Tools>Internet Settings>Advanced tab, click on "Reset" button.i had been meaning to download ie7 so i just did it.....only now icant view any website....? it told me during the updates that it couldnt download everything so after restart i should go to tools>windows updates....but i cant even do that now...Got anything??Computer info, please (OS, IE version...)

I visit youtube every day to WATCH music and political videos. I have never had a problem. Does your NORTON package include a firewall ? ?
If so check to see if the site is being BLOCKED.....

Perhaps Rumsfeld does not want you snooping around for hidden secrets.

Hello, I am hoping you can help me. I am not really computer smart, so simple explanations/terms are MUCH appreciated.

I have a 5 year old Compaq laptop. I am running Windows XP Pro. I believe it has Internet Explorer 6. I tried to upgrade to 7 but it said I couldn't unless I had SP 2. I have a DSL connection.

When I first get on-line IE will work fine, but after a SHORT while it will stop loading graphics or parts of a page. Down at the bottom it might say "x items REMAINING" but the number never changes, and the rest of the stuff never loads. I visit some internet forums that have a lot of pics in them; I know it's a lot of stuff and maybe it's too much for my computer??? But it's not just those pages that give me problems. I have a lycos email account and a lot of times I can't see the buttons (delete, REPLY, etc.) I log into my on-line banking and I can't see some of those buttons.

My computer is pretty bare bones - all it has on it is the operating system and Norton Antivirus. That's it. In fact I just had to reload the whole system because I was ATTACKED by some horrible virus/worm. I was hoping once I reloaded it the IE problem would go away, but it's still here. It was here before the virus and it's still here now.

I know my computer's kind of old but I'm hoping there is a solution?

Go here and download SP2. If you have a CD/DVD burner, burn the SP2 download to a disk so that you won't need to download it again if you have to rebuild your system at a later date.thank you. that was a very simple solution; I guess I didn't realize I could do that. Look in Control Panel and get familiar with Windows Firewall and the Security Center, if you're not already familiar with it. Make sure you have Windows Firewall, or a third-party firewall, running when you're on the Internet.

I will try to make sense of this........last night I installed my new Dell XPS420 computer, installed the DSL modem and STARTED surfing with IE 7. Everything was great until this morning when my wife gets on the machine to check the bank accounts.

When she goes to 1 of our bank sites, IE goes there but immediatly redirects to a search site. All other sites are fine but this one.............any ideas would be a great help.

When you say that, by mistake, you installed XP into a new directory, does that mean that both instances of XP are on the same PARTITION? If so, then give this a try and see if it sorts out the problem..

Scroll down to #20 "I have two installations of XP on the same partition....." and then click on it to expand the information beneath.

I found this post trying to fix a similar problem. I could not connect to many .org and .net websites also could not ping as request timed out. I downloaded winsock xp fix and it fixed EVERYTHING. I can now access the sites. That problem popped-up a little while ago.

hello guys, i have a LITTLE problem when installing safari. about 2 WEEKS ago i downloaded quicktime and it came with the apple software updater, i dint want the updater so i DECIDED to remove it. but, it wont get off the add/remove program. ok well, now i wanna download safari to try it but i cant because it says the older version of apple updater cannot be removed. anyone know a WAY to remove that apple updater?

What is displayed when you click on a day which is shown?

I have windows XP and explorer. I was on the net when a warning BOX popped up and then the computer turned off. After starting up again it all looked the same, virus scan didn't show anything but now when trying to LOG on the internet, my dial up keeps saying no dial tone. I have checked and DOUBLE checked the phone jack and wiring all work, it's something in my computer and i don't know what. Try Firefox...Does anything like this happen on any other BROWSERS?I can't tolerate IE7. There are some sites I can't open with it, though other browsers open the sites. Reseting, as for my case, didn't help either. I stuck with FireFox after that.

I have a NEW behaviour with firefox. . .on my old computer when I clicked on things like yahoo videos - they would open in a new window. I am sure that is how it is suppose to work. I believe that is how they are scripted, but on my system they are opening in a new tab, MUCH like holding the ctrl key down. I went to Yahoo, and videos open in a very same tab for me...for me the videos open a new tab, and not a new window. also the AFFILIATE program that I use the most display stats in a new window, it now opens in a new tab. This is not how it is suppose to work.

I believe that I got it to work. as expected, but I dont remember FF working this way.

Whenever I TRY to close an internet window, a window pops up that says "internet explorer has stopped working" and then internet explorer restarts. I have had my laptop for about 2 MONTHS and this just started happening a couple of days ago. Does anyone have any IDEA on why this is happening? You DONT have mutiple tabs running do you?? when you close the browser?Sometimes I have multiple tabs running but sometimes I don't. The thing is, it JUST started doing this.

Some LINKS in yahoo emails will not open on my laptop, but the same link will open on my other computers. Using different browsers doesn't CHANGE anything.

The first example is what shows in the address box when I hit a link in a Macy's EMAIL advertisement on my desktops and it works fine.

On my homepage, which is yahoo, none of the html graphics are showing up. This is now also happening w/ other WEB pages. All I can see is a big red square where the html graphic should be. Tried everything it worked a couple of times since then but always GOES back to this. Also sometimes the html code will show up where the graphic should be. Can anyone HELP? I have a program which needs Firefox or IE to connect to 127.0.0.1:12345

It has stopped working within the last 48 hours in Firefox and IE for no obvious reason (i.e. I haven't changed any settings or installed anything new). I can get the program to run in Processes but when I TRY to open it in either browser I get the message "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1." (or IE equivalent).

Just typing http://127.0.0.1 in the browser address bar brings up the same error message so I don't think the problem is in the specific program.

I know that 127.0.0.1 is LOCALHOST and I can ping it successfully.

I've checked my hosts file, which only contained the line
127.0.0.1 localhost

I have rebooted several times, restarted DNS Services, checked that Firefox is a trusted server and also that 127.0.0.1 is a trusted IP address in my Zone Alarm firewall. I've checked that Windows Firewall is off, and also tested with Zone Alarm off. I've disabled all my FF extensions and still get the same problem.

I'm running Windows XP Pro with SP2, Firefox 2.0.0.14, IE6 but FF is my default browser.

I hope there's enough info there to identify the issue

Isobelwhat program is it? Is it using ftp, iis, apache for web access or some other protocol? make sure the service for that protocol is turned on.It USES TCP/IP. I've never had to change any service before in order to run it, just allow it through the firewall because it does access websites on my behalf.

This is what's puzzling me because literally one day it worked and the next it didn't.

Should I be able to open 127.0.0.1 from my browsers by default, or is this a red herring? I don't have a web server running on this PC.

what program is it? what's it's purpose?The program is called Tuelz.exe, I've had it for 2 or 3 YEARS. It's a series of utility programs to help administer web sites, run various processes on text files, create RSS feeds etc. The info page for it is http://www.tuelz.com/

It was open and running perfectly on Wednesday, and when I tried to open it yesterday I got the message that Firefox couldn't connect although the tuelz process was running and its log file was being updated. I just couldn't access the interface.

I tried to do a System Restore back to Wednesday, but it failed ... I kept trying various dates back to last Friday when I last ran Spybot S & D and the Restore has failed each time, which doesn't exactly fill me with joy! Of course I have no idea why it failed, I just get the Restore Incomplete screen.

Isobelhmm. As I don't know much about the program (never heard of it before, and am not going to install it) my best guess is that it is using a web server to host the pages on localhost, but the web server service it turned off or disabled for some reason. I would recommend looking through the services in your computer manager for clues about which service (or services) it might be and make sure it is enabled and turned on. Also, check msconfig to make sure tuelz is included in startup and/or services.

I did find one "essential" service that was stopped, but starting it didn't seem to make a difference on its own.

I managed to get a fresh copy of the exe and installed that .. and it works! I still have no idea why it stopped, but I'm not going to spend too much time worrying about it

I just reformat and did all my updates and RUNNING vista premium, everytime I run IE7 it CRASHES, or when it does run and I try to CLOSE it, the IE7 crashes and closes all my pages out. Anyone have a fix for this, other then download Mozilla FF, I have FF and I do not care for it too muchIn IE, go Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab, click on "Reset" BUTTON. Restart COMPUTER.

Have had IE 7 for some time, with no problems. Had an issue last week with no sound in streaming vids. Fixed that problem by adding Wavemapper to the reg with value of msacm32.drv and all was ok again.

Yesterday when I open IE, the msn page (my home page) opens ok, but the SECOND page on the tabbed browsing says "connecting" but never connects. I can click on any link within the msn page, but any click on the toolbars, or search windows freezes the prog & I have to SHUT it down via task manager.

Interesting poin though, if I sign on through MSN, whick also uses IE, everything is fine. But that way doesn't give me my google search box, tabbed browsing and a few other goodies I like.

Any Ideas?

Check the address in Options/Tools...the address may be wrong.
You may just want to reset your homepage and see if this fixes it.I can't check that. As soon as I click on options, IE freezes. If I try to click anything except links w/in the msn page, such as search toolbars, options, anything.

I recently had a problem with my browser, Netscape 7.1, and the techie at my server support changed my PASSWORD to access my e-mail on my server. He told me that I had to change the password on my Netscape. Where do I do that he told me that that was my problem because heh wasn't familiar with netscape. I tried PREFERENCES and Mail &Newsgroups but there doesn't seem to be a plac to change my access password. Presently, everytime I try the e-mail, I get the messagt to the effect that .... authentication failed...

Anybody here can help me? The frustration level is reaching CRITICAL MASS

They gave me a new password and they told me that I have to insert it into Netscape so that my server recognizes my Netscape. Unfortunately, I can't find the place where to insert the new Password.

I tried IE 7 and firefox and only some websites work. www.cnn.com, google, msn work. But i i cant search on google. All the browser does is it LOADS forever and the page doesnt show up.What type of connection is this ? ?
If using a router unplug it for 30 seconds.
Do the same for the modem and if neither improves re-boot as well.I forgot to also say that it only happens on 1 of my computers.I can't see it from here but you can still TRY the suggestions...Also, describe your network, and give us Windows version.I have cable connection and im on Vista. I am having a terrible time no matter what I use when going to sites and losing things like the scroll bar and stuff. So, then I'm losing parts of the site and can't view things I need to get to because no way to get to that part of the pages.

Netscape is actually my favorite browser and have had the least problems with it over the years.
Then a few years or so ago this repairman put MOZILLA on both mine and mom's computers, but still have problems with it not wanting to work right with certain sites either. One of the sites it doesn't SEEM to work right with is PJC website and right before the repairman who put Mozilla on our computers, I had just signed up for an online class. The class wouldn't work with Mozilla. Had a chat we had to go in every week too and couldn't get it to work at all with it.

Help! I recently deleted some old PROGRAMS from my lap top to speed up my system. Since then, I keep getting an error message in websites requiring Javascript (they all tell me that Java script is basically void). I've tried downloading Java and IE8 again and changing all of my browser settings, following advice regarding enabling Java and Javascript checkboxes ETC. The problem prevents me, for example in ebay being automatically redirected to a new URL or accessing vitually anything within other site. As a workaround, I've loaded Firefox, which works but is slow.

This is DRIVING me absolutely crazy and so I would really appreciate someone helping before I THROW my LAPTOP out the window!

Davidwhen you say you deleted some programs , what exactly did you do? you can`t just go to the folder where programs are installed and start deleting stuff!You cannot delete JavaScript as there is nothing to delete! It is built into the browser. Just be sure not to mix up Java with JavaScript.

so i have this greasemonkey script that updates my other gm scripts when i visit userscripts.org . but there is a CATCH the updater script has to be installed first or it wont find the other scripts. my problem is i restored my FIREFOX PROFILE from a BACKUP and now the updater cant find the scripts ,they are listed in order from the manage user scripts in firefox. is it possible to reinstall them without having to download them again?

I use Qwest/MSN PREMIUM as my ISP. The Welcome screen (where I log in) is blank. I can still log on with IE, Firefox or Windows Live. I tried UNINSTALLING and REINSTALLING MSN and still have the same problem. When I "Restore" XP to an EARLIER date, I can't log on with any browser. I have recently had a problem with downloading files from the internet and really need some advice on what to do. When i go to download anything from the internet it comes up with the usual BOX prompting you to open, save or cancel and when i CLICK on save and choose a LOCATION for the file another box appears saying 'preparing to copy' it then dissapears and leaves nothing i check the location of the file i tried to download but nothing is there. I have repeatedly tried to identify and fix the problem but so far i am unsuccessful, can anyone please give me some advice as i do not KNOW if my computer has a virus, or some sort of software blocking downloads? it will be much appriciated

I WOULD like to make Compuserve use Mozilla Firefox when it accesses the internet. Compuserve is designed with and uses Internet Explorer to access the internet. Can it be changed so that it uses Firefox? If yes, how is this done? So far, I have opened Compuserve (with Internet Explorer) typed Mozilla Firefox in Google search and down loaded Mozilla Firefox. Compuserve still opened with Internet Explorer on the NEXT try. Can Compuserve use Firefox as a default browser and access the internet?

Install FireFox.
In the initial install it will ask if you want FireFox to be set as the Default browser...select Yes.
Then after LAUNCHING FFox log into your Compuserve account.
Go to Tools/Options/Main while logged in and select "use current page" as your Start page.

I recently updated my browser to Internet Explorer 8. Shortly afterward my computer CAME up with a blue screen of death. I rebooted it a few times and it seems to be working fine now, in general.
Ever since then, though, every TIME I turn on the computer, two error screens pop up.
One says "Error 8007007E in CoCreate Instance: the specified module could not be found"
and the other "Error 800401F0 in CoCreate Instance: CoInitialize has not been called"
When I click "OK" or X out, they just pop up again, one behind the other. They have the icon associated with the Intellisonic program, which also appears on my Start-toolbar. When I click that icon, though, ANOTHER screen comes up that says "Exciting CPL, could not initialize WMI".
QUITE frankly, I have no idea what these things are talking about. They don't seem harmful, only annoying. Any ideas? I don't really know what this Intellisonic program is, either. Is it essential, and if not, could I simply remove the program from my computer?Intellisonic seems to have something to do with drivers for microphones/speech recognition (?) from a quick google. By all means try removing such software if you don't need it. Possibly it has a plugin module that it causing IE8 to barf.

Downgrading to IE7 is problematic so if this continues, you might WANT to consider switching to Firefox?Thanks! I did both.
