I am using INTERNET explore 7 and when using a search engine part of the picture type CONTENT is all there and then a few seconds LATER part of it disappears and seems not to be JAVA , flash or media player type of content, is there anything on the RECEIVING end that can cause this or is this a problem from where the information is being sent from?

When I look in control panel=>remove programs I see 2 versions of FireFox.(3.5.5 & 3.5.6)
When I look at what VERSION is running(help)it shows;3.6.2
But the versions shown in my "remove programs" list it shows 3.5.5 and 3.5.6

Thanks;Eric.Try uninstalling them. If they EXIST, they'll uninstall. If they don't, the entry in Add/Remove should be deleted. Hello! I am somewhat new to Web design and coding, and I have what I believe to be a PRETTY straightforward (and possibly very silly) question regarding testing Web pages saved on one's own computer using a Web browser (in this case, Mozilla Firefox).

I design and CODE Web pages simply as a hobby and do not end up using them on an actual Web site, and thus have no use for a domain name and the like of my own. Instead, I simply plug my codes into Notepad, save this as an HTML file in my documents folder, and open that file in Firefox to view it for testing purposes.

So, my question is, is there any way someone else, somewhere in the world, could view these files over the Internet, or can they only be viewed by me, from my computer, since they're saved in my documents folder?

This is quite possibly an absurd question, but I've been curious about it since I first started using this method to view my work, and I would so appreciate any information.Unless someone has access to your computer (network, remote access, hacked, trojan, etc), they can't view your local HOST content.

It might end up in your browsers temporary cache, but even with tracking cookies, scripts, pixel exploit, etc, be hard to access if not impossible.

There are free HOSTING and domains out there or you could setup a server on your own computer which would allow this access. I have been trying to access a WEB page on the internet, for some time, using Mozilla Firefox (Which is up-to-date.). Hello: I used firefox happily for years, but in the past few months, whenever I open more than say five tabs in Firefox, I get this: Sorry, Firefox has encountered a problem and has to close message. In my work I often need to have multiple windows or tabs open, viewing resources that I USE for developing university classes. Then, right when I have everything all lined up and ready to go, there goes firefox!
Then if I start it up again, I get a message: This is embarrassing, there is a problem reloading some of the windows, and a list of windows and tabs COME for me to choose from and x some so that Firefox can start up again. It wasn't always this way, Firefox used to be such a breeze to use. Now I have to revert to IE which is just no fun!

Can you help please?

Dr. D.I'm not familiar with Zotero, but I just read a little about it and assume, it stores its DATA somewhere.
If you backup that data, it should be available, when you reinstall Firefox and Zotero add-on.

TamraThere is no best. Whatever you like is best. Install a few and make your own decision. The most popular are IE8, Firefox, Opera and Safari. I have all 4 installed on most systems but IE8 is my personal choice.Another one is Google's Chrome, which has been gaining in popularity, according to http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp. They all have some different features. It's really a matter of personal preference.

How do I turn of ie. if I GO into IE and put the 0.0.0.0 in the address box and 80 in the other in lan settings my computer wont open PAGES bcos it CANT find the proxy server address. The first Indian BROWSER (driven by MOZILLA) is launched recently. It can be downloaded freely at www.epicbrowser.com. I have downloaded it and looks good. The only drawback is some PEOPLE have had freeze/lock issues that were narrowed down to their resident protection apps banging heads with the browsers built in AV scanner...

Hello folks,

I am trying to DOWNLOAD a large graphic file and by the time
almost 90% of the download is done, all of a sudden the
incomplete figure disappears (the figure is filling the screen
from the top to the bottom) and the background remains!

Is it possible that some kind of a buffer/temporary file for
download is not large enough to contain the WHOLE graphic
file being downloaded and I must CHANGE some something...?

I recently reformatted the hard drive on my PC (Windows XP) with the original Microsoft CD (SP1). Through Windows update, I installed SP2. Following this installation, I'm having a few issues:

1) The pages MOVE in frames as I scroll down (it is not a smooth movement)
2) The windows in the toolbar and otherwise have square edges and not rounded. The only OPTION under "Display Properties -> Appearance -> Windows & Buttons is Windows Classic. I do not have a "Windows XP STYLE" option.

Would any of you know how to fix this issue?

I used the Microsoft Home Edition XP CD to reinstall Windows. I believe I reinstalled all drivers, as there were no errors during installation.

I created a custom persona by combining the header from one and the footer from another, however my custom persona will only stay active if the Edit Custom Persona tab is open (chrome://personas/content/customPersonaEditor.xul)...once it closes, (even if I HIT OK), the persona will revert to whatever it was previously (but the Personas menu still says that the custom persona is active).Turns out, this is an issue with the personas addon...and that I'm not the only one:

You mentioned Chrome and you mentioned Mozilla. Are you referring to Chrome or Firefox?

ATM my Firefox is using ~200 MB, usually it's around 300-400.

If you are running Vista/7 you have to do things differently.

You will need to start notepad as ADMINISTRATOR- either rightclick the program icon i the accessories group, or you can start typing notepad in teh search box and right-click the item that appears as a RESULT. either way, you select "Run as Administrator".
Ones it starts, choose file->Open, and paste %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts to open the file.

NOW you can perform the changes and still be ABLE to save it. (your original response to helpmeh's suggestion itself suggests that you had issues saving the hosts file, which will happen if you don't run notepad as an administrator in Vista/7)

so I go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

click on host file and modify it to SAY:

It returns to its original number. Obviously...the page searches for a certain string in the URL and if found, returns the im_feeling_unlucky() function.

After installing Firefox 3.6.6 all indications are that it is installed. i.e., desktop shortcut,
shows in the add/remove PROGRAMS applet, shows in the installed programs. Any attempts to open the browser are ignored. For about a month now, all three of my browsers (Internet Explorer 8, Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3, and Google Chrome 5.0) keep freezing randomly. Windows 7 Action Center has reported to me that "Flash.ocx caused IE to crash.", and Google Chrome said in an error message that "Shockwave Flash Player was running slowly and crashed". This seems to happen regardless of the content of the site I am currently VIEWING at time of freeze-up, or how many sites I have open at one time.

This seems to happen most often when I have had another window on top of my browser for awhile and then try to return to my browser. Also happens sometimes when I'm closing the last of several sites I've had open.

Usually, restarting my browser will fix the issue temporarily. On occasion IE will freeze repeatedly every time I launch it, my only solution being to restart the computer. Only once have I been able to replicate a freeze-up on all three browsers in a row, repeatedly, using the same website -- YouTube -- to test.

Reinstalling all Adobe products, even using the online uninstaller, then re-downloading has not fixed the problem.

One time a Windows System Restore seemed to fix the issue, but I would rather not try that now as the restore would have to over a month ago and I have made several minor changes during that time.

P. S. Both times this started happening after I used DellConnect remote support service. Could there be any CONNECTION?

Only suggestions is based on what you said. Have you installed a different anti-virus lately. If so this might cause the problem, Norton is notorious for this exact same thing. It also can be in yur Windows system and you'll never find it because no one seems to want to own up to a flaw anymore. I had a like problem and it got so bad I had to replace the hard drive even though every test said it was OK. Put the new in and haven't had a problem since. It got so bad my internal programs were freezing over time Nope, I've had McAfee ever since I got this computer.

Is there any chance this could be connected to flash? Because it didn't happen for at least 5 months and then it just started all the time. Most of the trouble is with IE. Any way to clear out any and all memory the computer has of flash ever being installed? Would it cause problems to try? Maybe something is corrupted.

If you think it's a flash related issue...which i'm not convinced of YET.... then DLoad and run the Adobe flash uninstaller tool from their site...then DLoad and install afresh ver. of flash...

My internet FAVORITES stopped working. One day they worked and then they stopped. I can still see the label for each favorite but the icon has CHANGED to a generic icon. When I click on a favorite, nothing happens. I am using Internet Explorer 7 with windows XP.Your favorites are in a folder - probably the folder is something like this....

I think you should go to this folder and examine the properties of the shortcuts in that folder and see if there is anything suspect about it. Do an experiment where you copy the target from the properties and paste it directly into the address bar of your BROWSER. Does it work under those circumstances?
Another experiment is to install the Firefox browser and import your favorites to Firefox (Firefox calls them bookmarks, but its the same thing) and see if they work.Thanks for the help. I did install Firefox and eventhough it did not pull over my favorites, only the folder, I am now able to use bookmarks. I have used Firefox a little and am getting used to the differences. Also, as of right now it appears that Firefox loads faster than Internet Explorer. This is a plus.

Ensure Internet Explorer is your default browser. Steps: Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs> Set program access and DEFAULTS -> Set Internet Explorer as the default browser. Then you should try reinstalling or reenabling add-ons.

Hey guys, I am going to create a new file on my computer, but is there ANY way I can somehow copy the history on my Firefox browser onto another file? Like when you go to View- History, you can view pages you have visited in the past.

Is there a folder all of this is so I can copy/paste it on another file for the computer?

There are also programs you can download that will save a History File for you, such as "Internet Explorer History Viewer" and stuff like that. Is there any program like that for Mozilla that lets you view history?

Basically I need to view the history on my Firefox from another user account because I am deleting the current one, I want to see if there is any way to do this!

Mozbackup should do the trick for you. I have not needed to use this program, but I assume that you can backup to any SPECIFIC folder/directory that you specify.I was trying to remember that, tho - I used a version for Thunderbird when moving to a new machine ...... had to PAY a small amount to be able to expand the saved data but it worked well.

The same thing we did for Mozilla, but for Internet Explorer?Most IE stuff should be in findable folders on C:\. Either in admin folder and/or a named user folder... copy these and export by whatever means available.
