Solve : Internet Explorer and AOL?

Answer»

Since installing AOL broadband on my pc, I have been unable to use internet explorer.

AOL said that you cannot use Internet Explorer along with AOL but I just know there must be a way to bypass this as frankly AOL is great as an ISP but IE is far better to work with.

Any help gratefully received!!Quote

1. frankly AOL is great as an ISP
2.IE is far better to work with.

1. From what I have heard, AOL isn't all that great. You are the first person I see that claims it is.
2. Mozilla Firefox
-- Internet Explorer is a HORRIBLE browser to work with. I suggest you look into Mozilla Firefox which is both free and more versatile.Raptor has a point... A friend of mine had AOL Broadband for about ONE month, and then dumped it.. Even I have to admit... It was exaclty what the slang phrase is... AO *censored*...

[glb]Flame[/glb]I don't completely like AOL but I only want to use them for the broadband connection not for surfing the web. They are cheap and have unlimited downloads, thats the ONLY benefits!!You know... Verizon is CHEAPER... Just a thought...

[glb]Flame[/glb]If you insist on using AOL, go to IE-->Tools-->Internet Options-->Connections

Make sure Never DIAL A Connection is ticked. You can minimize AOL and then bring up IE and should be able to surf to your hearts content.

Hope this helps.

Solve : How do I uninstall ie6??

Quaxo - Do you have any specific programs in mind. I've had no issue with programs using IE once I made FF my default browser.

Quote from: quaxo on July 20, 2008, 07:54:09 AM
and some programs like Windows Live Messenger will still force it to open when you click to open Hotmail.

And I've yet to get it to STOP. Yahoo Messenger links, internet shortcuts, everything opens in Firefox. For some reason, WLM won't stop opening in IE when it opens something from the internet.

So WLM is the culprit? Don't use it - funny that the offender is a M$ program

Makes me feel better about the various anti-trust suits against M$!

EDIT: This purports to be a 'solution." http://dotnetwizard.net/?p=455

EDIT 2: Probably want to be careful when SELECTING the "Enable Polygamy" option! Wow, thanks drm. I'll check that out tonight when I get back home. I looked for something like that a while back and never could find it. Maybe I just didn't get the search parameters right. There was another program what would open only in IE, but I can't remember what it is. I did finally find a way to get it to stop.

Actually, I only use WLM on my desktop. On my laptop, I use aMSN because it takes less space, it doesn't act stupid, and it isn't a Microsoft product. My webcam doesn't work right in it, but I never use the webcam on my laptop. The webcam on my desktop works fine with it though.Quote from: quaxo on July 20, 2008, 08:47:13 PM
Wow, thanks drm. I'll check that out tonight when I get back home.

Hope it works for you. Let me know about the 'polygamy' option! If you install Messenger Plus! Live DO NOT INSTALL the Sponsor programs along with it. Be sure to uncheck those when INSTALLING Messenger Plus! Live. That program is ad supported (adware). If you choose to ninstall the Sponsored programs it then installs the Swizzor TROJAN along with LOP.com and various other nasties.

Be sure to check “I refuse to give my support, don’t install the sponsor“ If not you will be in the malware removal forum posting the logs.

What do you think - should we remove the link to the program? The link, in it's instructions, gives the same advice that you do; but, is the program otherwise okay? The comments at the link seem to be favorable.

Please advise and feel free to strike the link, if appropriate.I still use 7.5 and I'm never gonna change.

Thanks - I'll leave the link, then, since the instructions stress not to install the sponsor programs. My problem was that I was trying to update ie from 6 to 7 and it would not install. It would come up with a error saying that it could not install and to restart the computer. I was thinking it was corrupted. So I wanted to know how to uninstall it and so that I could install 7 on it.You IE7 download was probably corrupted. Did you try downloading it again?Quote from: quaxo on July 21, 2008, 09:37:13 AM
You IE7 download was probably corrupted. Did you try downloading it again?

Yes. It didn't work. Going back to the problem again, I had to do a repair installation on it with cd's from hp the problem was that it reverted it back to pre sp1. I installed sp2 on it and tried to install ie 7 but it would not work. The reason for doing the repair install was because it would not load windows because some the system files had been corrupted or missing possibly to a trojan. I scanned when I got into windows after the installation and found no viruses or TROJANS.

Solve : my favorites keep disappearing in ie7?

Answer»
I have a Toshiba laptop running Vista It has IE 7 & is doing strange things with the favorites. Using my main login account I cannot get Favorites to show up in IE. If I login as Guest they are their and can be add/deleted, but not using my main login. I have tried importing Favorites and IE says it all worked, but they still won't show up. If I look in the file directory there is a Favorites folder under the user NAME and it has all the files. in ie7 if i try to add a favorite it will not do anything, it does not give me any error messages or anything. i had this problem before for several weeks but it went away for a week or 2, now it is back.

thanks
gquilts
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools, click on Internet Explorer (no add-ons). Will it work? this is what is says,
even if i close and restart it still will not open with add-ons
is this the problem and how do i turn on add-ons, i thought they were on because when i visit a site that tells me it need an activeX i let it download. (from sites i trust) so where are they going?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS HELP!! , what do i do next?

Do favorites show up in this mode?no
i also tried to go into the manage add-ons, it says they are all enabled, ??i also forgot to tell you, it will not let me save a WEB page to the favorites menu- if that helps any?
thanks soooo much for your ideas!!
gquiltsAre you still talking about Internet Explorer (no add-ons) mode?no, in the no add-on mode you have to click on each file name to see if it is enabled, when i do that - (click an add-on file name)- then at the botton off the window the enable is selected. -- in the normal IE PROGRAM is where i went into the manage add-ons and it did the same as what i just explained in the IE no add-ons program. there was no difference.
We have some misunderstanding here.
Your original problem: favorites don't show up, when you log in to your main account, and use IE in Normal Mode.
My question: being in your main account, if you start IE in no add-ons mode, are favorites still missing?sorry i had a very sick granddaughter and had to got to er and then been taking care of her..

wait i just tried it again and they do show up, before when i clicked on the IE no add-ons it was not opening a new web page window, but now it is and the favoritesare there!!

i am having problems with this new computer and they TOLD me yesterday it had t go back to the warranty service because one of the graphices cards is not working and now it get hot-overheats and just goes dead everything turns off. i have to back up my files and take it back to best buy next week. it seems to be doing a lot of weird things.

anyway how do i get my favorites to show when i RUN it in the normal mode?I'm sorry for your granddaughter. Is she OK?

Since you're gonna take your computer for warranty repair, they may fix your IE as well, but meanwhile you can try this...
Open IE normally, go Tools>Manage Add-ons>Enable or Disable Add-ons, and disable all add-ons.
Restart IE. See, if bookmarks will show up.
We'll go from there.Bookmarks = Favorites.Thanks

Solve : monitoring downloads NOT MUSIC?

Answer»

Hi

I remember years ago, Netscape had a downloader, (the coconut doesn't remember, I remember it in Netscape 3 around 91 -93) if you lost connection the next time you loged on it resumed where it had stopped, so you didn't have to download from the start.

Is there anything like that today?

Quote from: pohhop on July 18, 2008, 08:23:53 AM

Is there anything like that today?

Do you MEAN in Netscape, or all browsers? If the server, you're downloading file from, supports resume, Firefox 3 will pick up from where it LEFT before connection was lost.
There is also nice FF add-on, DownThemAll: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201, download manager, which supports interrupted downloads.

As for IE, I know nothing.

Solve : Can't switch off a popup blocker when needed?

Answer»

RESOLVED! MY ISP lied to me, they were the culprits. ah ha! ...but I had to phone them to get anywhere. SOMETHING is causing web pages, which I need, to get blocked. PC is HP with MS XP, Explorer and Trend Micro pill-icillin SECURITY software. (I THINK this problem is related to Internet Explorer.) I tried changing security settings on my browser page, but it didn't stop the problem. the problem is happening when I click on web buttons, like the Chat option on this website. I get a little stamp sized box with a BIG red X that comes up and prevents me from getting the window I need. So I can't use the Chat option on this site. (This little popup comes and goes so fast and is so small I can't see anything but the little image - no other message. I don't know what application this popup box goes to.) My ISP said it was on my end and web sites where I have the problem couldn't help. (I'm surprised I got this message window to open. It's the type of window that usually gets blocked.) Anybody know anything about this kinda problem and how I can fix it? thanxGlad that you're back in business!

Can you be more specific about the solution?

Thanks.

Solve : wireless network not available?

Answer»

using laptop Dell Latitude D630 with Windows XP
successfully installed VERIZON wireless card and working fine, but only want to use that when on the road, not at home office
at home have a PC with direct cable modem (Time Warner) and a Netgear router - my son's laptop works fine off the Netgear router and my previous laptop did ALSO (HP)

with my new Dell Laptop, when I go to "view available wireless networks", there are none listed; but i notice that in the CONTROL panel a "1394" is connected, but i still can't get a webpage

what do i need to do to access my Netgear router?Does the Dell have wireless capability?

From the manual:

A wireless local area network (WLAN) is a series of interconnected computers
that communicate with each other over the air waves rather than through a
network cable connected to each computer. In a WLAN, a radio
communications device called an access point or wireless router CONNECTS
network computers and provides Internet, or network, access. The access point
or wireless router and the wireless network card in the computer communicate
by broadcasting data from their antennas over the air waves.
What You Need to Establish a WLAN Connection
Before you can set up a WLAN, you need:
• High-speed (broadband) Internet access (such as cable or DSL)
• A broadband modem that is connected and working
• A wireless router or access point
• A wireless network card for each computer that you want to connect to
your WLAN
• A network cable with a network (RJ-45) connector
Checking Your Wireless Network Card
Depending on what you selected when you purchased your computer, the
computer has a variety of configurations. To confirm that your computer has a
wireless network card and to DETERMINE the type of card, use one of the
following:

•The Start button and the Connect To option
• The order confirmation for your computer
Start Button and Connect To Option
In Microsoft Windows XP , click Start→ Connect To→ Show all connections.
In Microsoft Windows Vista, click Start→ Connect To→ View network
computers and devices.
If Wireless Network Connection does not appear under LAN or High-Speed
Internet, you may not have a wireless network card.

Solve : how to reconfigure the JRE without reinstalling it??

Answer»

I'd installed JRE for IE once before and now I want to configure it for Firefox too. In this way I did the recommended SETTING at Control Panel->Java console for Firefox but it still prompt me to download the required Java Plug-in while running the applets.

one more clue that may help you to diagonise the problem, at browser's Java Console the user home DIRECTORY is C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator

why it so? even though the installed JRE location is C:\Program files\java\JRE1.6_03

here is Windows XP SP3
JRE1.6_03 is an outdated version of Java. You NEED to install the new version using Firefox.

Your Java is out of date.

Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to infect your system.

Install the new version Sun Java Runtime Environment

Remove the old version(s)

  • Go to add/remove programs and uninstall all old versions.
  • Download JavaRa and unzip the file to your Desktop.
  • Open JavaRA.exe and choose Remove Older Versions
  • Once complete exit JavaRA and DELETE the program.
  • Run CCleaner.
I've done all whatever I supposed to be but the problem is yet to be solved.

- have installed JRE 1.6.0 U6 after uninstalling PREVIOUS virsion
didn't make any changes, problem still persist

- tried reinstalling Firefox
didn't make any changes

- updated Firefox from V2.0.0.5 to V3.0 after uninstalling previous version.
didn't make any changes

I cant get one thing, Why the user directory for java shown as C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator(there is not any such directory at this location) in java console for browser, while the java installation directory is C:\Program files\java\JRE 1.6_06

Solve : internet explorer/mozilla won't connect but AOL IM will?

Answer»

Hi All.

My computer suddenly STOPPED connecting to the internet. I have a strong wireless signal and my AOL IM works but whenever I open Mozilla or Internet Explorer I get an error message (basically as if I wasn't connected to the internet). I do not have an anti-virus software installed (I've read that this has been an issue for many people). Also, I am using Windows 2K. I am really confused as to what is going on and how to fix this problem. I had my roommate try to use the same CONNECTION and she had no problem so it for sure is my computer and NOT the router/internet connection.

I appreciate any help you have to offer as I am desperate!

Thanks.Quote from: mggreco on July 14, 2008, 03:33:42 PM

whenever I open Mozilla or Internet Explorer I get an error message

What exactly is the error message? It is the error message that you usually get when you aren't connected to the internet but you try to reach a webpage. Basically says: check your internet connection. check your firewall SETTINGS... this just shows up in the web page browser, not a pop up or anything. Do you know which one I am TALKING about?Do you use ZoneAlarm firewall? Did you update Windows through Windows Update right before this problem started? Did this problem start in the last several days?

If the above answers are "Yes." you can thank MS for killing your internet access. The Update KB951748 conflicts with ZoneAlarm and ZA reacts by blocking all internet access.

The solution is to: a) Uninstall KB951748, b) shutdown ZoneAlarm, c) temporarily set ZoneAlarm 'security level' to medium, re-start ZA. You should now have internet access. Update ZA then re-install KB951748.

To uninstall KB951748: Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>ensure that the check box at the top of page (Show Updates) is checked>Scroll through the list to KB951748>Uninstall>re-boot.

Let us know if this fixes your problem.

Solve : cannot find server / connection timed out?

Answer»

Even though I use DSL, when going to a new web page, I frequently get a Cannot find server or Connection timed out error message. In order to get a connection, I usually reboot the modem. Other times, that doesn't work and I have to reboot the computer. Twice in the last couple of days, I had to do a system restore to get a connection. There is a wide difference in occurances. SOMETIMES I can go hours without getting an error, sometimes it can be every ten minutes or so. I generally use Firefox, but it happens even in IE Maybe it's time to get a new modem from your ISP.Quote from: Broni on July 12, 2008, 05:04:59 PM

Perhaps I should have mentioned that my wife's computer is on the same modem and she does not have this problem.I see.
Any router involved?
Wired, or wireless connection?
Windows version?I have this problem to.

I have 2 pc's using the same belken router.

1 works fine the other does not whenever it is turned on it gets connected (I can ACCESS its hard DRIVE from the other PC) but IE6 gets page not found and OUTLOOK express returns error no socket found.

A system restore cures this until I turn it off and back on again when I get the problem back.

I turn the machine off OVERNIGHT usually.swan

Yea it makes it hard to know a solution when nobody reports back if the instructions worked or not.....

OP said that he'd like to know the reason - perhaps he wants the reason for the problem before he tries the fix?

I don't know the answer (the reason for the problem) but you probably do.Not sure until someone tries the fix and lets us know.

The above fix re-registers the dll's and in turn hopefully any corrupted ones will be fixed.

If not that then it could be a corrupt/hijacked HOSTS file. That can be reset with HostsXpert.

Download HostsXpert
  • Unzip HostXpert to your desktop
  • Open up the HostXpert program.
  • Make sure that the "Make Hosts Writable?" button in the upper right CORNER is enabled.
  • Click Create Back Up
  • Then click on Restore Microsoft's Host Files
  • Close the HostXpert program
.
Note: if you use SpywareBlaster, Spybot and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and select Enable all protection. For Spybot run the program and select Immunize. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Just a thought...We're not inconvenienced, it's just if nobody gives us any feedback on if our suggestions work or not we can't know what the problem was to begin with.

There is a multitude of things to try. Basically you troubleshoot until you find the cause.

We normally don't help with homework/job application type questions. It's just like cheating.

Okay - my 2¢: I'm on this board to see if I can help people fix their computer problems and to learn. Many people on this and other similar boards have limited resources to spend on their computers, and, if I (we) can help them to fix their systems, that's great! If @bspkumar had stated at the outset that the 'problem' was contrived to test his knowledge, I'd feel a little less aggrieved right now. As it is now, the dishonesty irritates me.

AND, I'm really pi#@ed because @bspkumar is not able to see that the question WAS answered. "A possible cause for this problem is that a dll necessary to the operation of IE may have become corrupted, therefore, I recommend... ."

@Deerpark, I agree.

No, I don't have a Windows ME CD. Darn it all.

It may have malware. I'm not sure. Other symptoms it has lately are that none of the "movie-like" ads on pages will load. If I try to go to YouTube, everything except the movie will load. There's not even a box where the movie should be, just an empty space. I'm now thinking it may be a problem with my video card, but I have no idea how to check to see if something has disabled it or not. I've been reading through all the things I could find on this site, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for in that area.

I know that my drive space is low, but I only have 4.3GB to start with. I have a little over 300 MB open. I've had as much as 800 MB open, but when I went online the next time, it was back to 300. That makes me think there is really something wrong. Something is eating up my space, but I can't find it.

Any suggestions now? I really appreciate everyone's help!!Is your PC a genuine Microsoft product? You should have the Windows ME CD.Why dont you try this out..

Take out your HD. Put it in your friends computer and have it scanned there...

WMP is a plug-in, not add-on. Firefox in safe mode doesn't disable plug-ins. It disables add-ons, toolbars, and themes.

I tried with my working in order computer, and I've the same result. Where did I do wrong? This is strange. It looks like WMP plug-in is not working correctly.
Uninstall WMP plugin by removing np-mswmp.dll file from C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins.
Install fresh copy of WMP plugin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7ok, I'll try that and will give you an updated later. If it's not working, should I better treat it like there is a malware or virus in this computer?

McAfee Scriptproxy
Shockwave Flash Object
Spybot Search And Destroy (Browser Extension)
Spybot SD IE Protection (Browser Helper Object)
XML DOM Document (Microsoft) Activex Control

Thank you

Lotti (I use IE 7,by the way).
Thanks for the list Lotti as it has surely made my task easier. First of all, I note that you are using Toolbars that is to say that you are using Google Toolbar and StumbleUpon Toolbar. I THINK you should UNINSTALL the Google toolbar and see if the second one works or not.

Toolbar for Internet Explorer

Restart your computer and see if the Toolbar returns or not. Good Luck.

-- GokuI just wondered, before I do that,I quite like the google toolbar,is there any way of using both together? Hello Lotti. What I am asking you to do is just a part of my theory. If uninstalling the Google Toolbar does not help with the problem, you may reinstall it as then I can be sure that the culprit is some other program. Hope that eases your doubt.

-- GokuYou don't have to uninstall any add-ons.
In IE go here:

Disable all add-ons, except for Stumbleupon.
See, if it's still there after restart.
If so, try enabling add-ons one-by-one.

Solve : Firefox Modzilla , strange message before opening?

Answer»

I use XP with Firefox modzilla and Explorer. Recently when I open my Modzilla a message comes up about some of the script may have a problem (sorry I'm at work and the problem is on my home computer so I can't remember exactly what it says) and gives me the choice to "stop script" or "continue". If I hit continue the window will close and then nothing will happen. If I hit stop script the window will close and Firefox will open and function just FINE. I hardly use explorer but it opens without issue.
My question is, could this be something that can be solved easily or does it REPRESENT something major is wrong. The only anti virus software I use is ad-aware. I update and scan regularly.hmmmm so there is a script running everytime ff started that makes it close mabye dont run the script and look in your addons to see if theres anything I will have a look in the options when I get home from work (it's still lunch time where I am). I haven't made any changes....so what should I be looking for?

Thanks.well you should be looking for any addon you didnt install or anything like that in the tools addons folderaha.... so this script you say is running could be a plug in that's having problems.... I remember I tried to download a weather plug-in on firefox a while ago...
I'll check it out...

Thanks for your help. Most likely, it has nothing to do with you.

While you are working on your FF issue, you may want to get proper anti-virus/anti-spyware protection.

Avast! is a good, free program that combines anti-virus & anti-spyware: http://www.avast.com/eng/download.html

Best of luck!I NOTICED that the OP used this spelling: "Modzilla" with a 'd'. I assumed at first it was a simple spelling error but then I did a Google and found that there is a scam site thus named which says that if you "subscribe" you can download "Modzilla Firefox" and also get a "free security course". It looks like a scam of some sort. It may involve some kind of malware. Only get Firefox from the official site.

Solve : HELP: All browsers won't load!?

Answer»

I've always used Firefox and when I turned on my laptop this morning, it shows me the "won't load" page. So I tried IE and it didn't load too. I RESTARTED my laptop 3 times and it still won't load. I've checked my connection, I do have internet connection as I can CONNECT to Yahoo Messenger and AIM.

So I went online using my dad's laptop and downloaded other browsers (Netscape, Flock), save the .exe file on a FLASH disk and installed it on my laptop. It still didn't work.

I checked the firewall settings and all browsers are NOT blocked.

Help! I really don't know what to do.

Thanks!Hold down your [windows key + R] to use the run command shortcut or go to your start menu and click on run.
Once you use the short cut or use the run button in the start menu the run command will popup.

After you type in "cmd" with out the quotes in the in the command line and click on OK button and the CMD.exe program will open.
The DOS window will pop up. At the C:\WINDOWS> prompt type ping www.yourdomainname.com and press enter.
You will see some results PASS through the screen.
It will tell you if there were any packets lost in the transfer (0% loss is what you want to see).
It will also tell you the average speed, in milliseconds.
To close the DOS window, type exit at the C:\WINDOWS> prompt and press enter.

Please tell me the results and this will tell us if you have a internet connection
This is what I got:

32 bytes of data

Packets: Sent = 4, Received= 4, Lost = 0 (0% Loss)

Approximate Roundtrip Times in Milli-seconds
Min=45 ms, Max = 99 ms, Avg=70ms

Thanks for replying.Sorry Sir but this is out of my league if your receiving a internet connection not sure what the problem is; if someone else does not get back to you i will in a day or two, ill find a solution .Thank you
I really hope you can help me solve this problem.
Appreciate it!their not set to work off line are they?Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode). Will it connect?
If not, restart computer in Safe Mode with Networking. Try to connect from there.
What Windows version?it couldnt be offline mode, because you said yahoo and aim work.. it couldnt be a offline PROXY because netscape doesnt work, try turning off the firewall for a few seconds and see if it works, expecially if you use zone alarm firewall.. you might also try clearing your temporary file folders, and what connection speed do you have?? if you are on a modem, something random like windows update might have started and slowed things down so much you cant connect.. thats what happense to me, open taskmanger and see if wuauclt.exe is running in process list, Hello Glamgal. You could try some of those advanced troubleshooting steps that Microsoft recommends to cure such issues.

Error message when you try to access a Web site in Internet Explorer 6: "Page Cannot Be Displayed"

There are many solutions provided so please be patient and try to go through each one and see if they help your problem or not. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck.

Solve : Blocked URL?

Answer»

Hello all,

A few sites have been blocked on my network by my administrator,(my BROTHER) but he is AWAY and I really need to access these sites....where can i UNBLOCK their respective URL's so that i can access them???

Thanks and RegardsWhat sites are they......Call your brother.
You sure, it's not your boss, or SCHOOL?the easyest way of blocking a website is adding it to the hosts file I'm sure if your brother, the Administrator, blocked these sites...then they're blocked for a reason.

Trying to circumvent someone else's SECURITY settings is not what this site is all about.I think, we can lock this topic.

Solve : Firefox 3 has killed my computer?

Answer»

Having used Mozilla Firefox 2 for ages and being very happy with it I upgraded to Firefox 3 more or LESS as soon as it was available. It worked fine for a day or two. Now it hangs all the time. It loads my homepage and will USUALLY load the next site but then will just hang. This happens no matter what the site or how many tabs I have open. I uninstalled Firefox 3 and downloaded 2 again but now this does the same thing too. I decided to go for a different browser totally and downloaded Safari but again this has the same problem. The only browser that is working is IE6. Any ideas what I can do to be able to use firefox again?Try Downloading CCleaner and clearing your temporary files for Firefox and System.

Also, run the registry cleaner a few times.I agree with carbon dudeoxide. But you maybe also NEED to check of you have a virus/spyware ECT... preventing you from accessing the INTERNET correctly.

Solve : IE7 error: Error on page?

Answer»

IE7 will not play a flash video from http://www.star-telegram.com/multimedia/. IE7 has a little yellow triangle with an exclamation mark at lower left corner and it says "Error on page". I have read the Q&A Number CH001032 and it says what causes this. However, I have tried Firefox on the same computer at the same url and it plays the flash video. What I need to know is how to make IE7 play the video. My Flash Player is version WIN 9.0.124.0. I am running Windows XP Professional.
Try and download Flash Player for IE from the Adobe website:

Link

The problem is not with Flash Player because I can go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ and Flash plays on Internet Explorer. The problem has something to do with IE 7, because it displays the "Error on page".Will Firefox work OK?Yes, Firefox works but IE7 does not. IE7 says "Error on page" while viewing http://www.star-telegram.com/multimedia/.Close IE.
Go Start>All Programs>Accessories>SYSTEM Tools, click on Internet Explorer (no add-ons)
Same thing? Thanks - I tried the no add-ons routine - still "error on page"

If you didn't install Service Pack 3, yet, uninstall IE7 through Add\Remove. It'll revert to IE6. See, if that works.I uninstalled Service Pack 3 and rebooted, thenchecked- same problem. I then uninstalled IE7 and rebooted. I still have the same problem with IE6.
I have written to the Star Telegram and told them of my problem but have not received a reply.
Have you tried accessing http://www.star-telegram.com/multimedia/? Don't you get the error?

This is WEIRD. It plays fine here in IE, and Firefox. Do you have Flash problem on any other pages?Just for kicks and giggles...

Do you have the pop-up blocker enabled with the IE7 browser? If so...try turning it off and viewing the page again.

Just call it a hunch...

It may work...it may not.I tried to reinstall IE7 and it would not reinstall. I then tried to reinstall Service Pack 3 and it would not reinstall. I finally used the "Reset the registry and the file permissions" method at "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949377#top and then was able to reload both Service Pack 3 and IE7. Still have the "error on page' problem with that one site. I am sure I have had this problem with other SITES before. But now I can go to several sites and Flash plays with IE7. I can't figure out why IE7 plays on many sites for me EXCEPT that one site but IE7 plays on that site for Broni. In addition Firefox plays the video on that site for me. I guess that I will have to give up.

Thanks for the help.
That's why many people stay away from IE.

I just dont get it. I works on one computer and then doesnt on MINE at home. Any other suggestion would be great thanks. In Firefox go Tools > Options > Content and is “Load Images Automatically?” CHECKED?I had that problem with Yahoo Games, it wouldn't let me play pool. I contacted them about it, they told me it was Java. I needed to download a new Java (?)Hello Quasimodo

Have you tried resetting Internet explorer?

I doubt it will help, as you're having the same problem with Firefox but it can't hurt to try.

(in IE) > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset

Next, remove Java from your system (control panel > add remove programs) then download the latest version from here.

See if this helpsSorry Broni

I uninstalled and it installed it again. nothing. When i go to google.com and search for AVG antivirus, it takes me to a online enyclopedia dictionary bullsh**. I installed seek and destroy, spy doctor. The encylopedia crap went went away but when i enter antivirus websites it says website not found.
