Answer» Since installing AOL broadband on my pc, I have been unable to use internet explorer. 1. frankly AOL is great as an ISP 1. From what I have heard, AOL isn't all that great. You are the first person I see that claims it is. 2. Mozilla Firefox -- Internet Explorer is a HORRIBLE browser to work with. I suggest you look into Mozilla Firefox which is both free and more versatile.Raptor has a point... A friend of mine had AOL Broadband for about ONE month, and then dumped it.. Even I have to admit... It was exaclty what the slang phrase is... AO *censored*... [glb]Flame[/glb]I don't completely like AOL but I only want to use them for the broadband connection not for surfing the web. They are cheap and have unlimited downloads, thats the ONLY benefits!!You know... Verizon is CHEAPER... Just a thought... [glb]Flame[/glb]If you insist on using AOL, go to IE-->Tools-->Internet Options-->Connections Make sure Never DIAL A Connection is ticked. You can minimize AOL and then bring up IE and should be able to surf to your hearts content. Hope this helps. |

Going back to the problem again, I had to do a repair installation on it with cd's from hp the problem was that it reverted it back to pre sp1. I installed sp2 on it and tried to install ie 7 but it would not work. The reason for doing the repair install was because it would not load windows because some the system files had been corrupted or missing possibly to a trojan. I scanned when I got into windows after the installation and found no viruses or TROJANS. |

Solve : my favorites keep disappearing in ie7? |

Answer» I have a Toshiba laptop running Vista It has IE 7 & is doing strange things with the favorites. Using my main login account I cannot get Favorites to show up in IE. If I login as Guest they are their and can be add/deleted, but not using my main login. I have tried importing Favorites and IE says it all worked, but they still won't show up. If I look in the file directory there is a Favorites folder under the user NAME and it has all the files. in ie7 if i try to add a favorite it will not do anything, it does not give me any error messages or anything. i had this problem before for several weeks but it went away for a week or 2, now it is back. thanks gquilts Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools, click on Internet Explorer (no add-ons). Answer» RESOLVED! MY ISP lied to me, they were the culprits. ah ha! ...but I had to phone them to get anywhere. SOMETHING is causing web pages, which I need, to get blocked. PC is HP with MS XP, Explorer and Trend Micro pill-icillin SECURITY software. (I THINK this problem is related to Internet Explorer.) I tried changing security settings on my browser page, but it didn't stop the problem. the problem is happening when I click on web buttons, like the Chat option on this website. I get a little stamp sized box with a BIG red X that comes up and prevents me from getting the window I need. So I can't use the Chat option on this site. (This little popup comes and goes so fast and is so small I can't see anything but the little image - no other message. I don't know what application this popup box goes to.) My ISP said it was on my end and web sites where I have the problem couldn't help. (I'm surprised I got this message window to open. It's the type of window that usually gets blocked.) Anybody know anything about this kinda problem and how I can fix it? thanxGlad that you're back in business! |

Answer» I'd installed JRE for IE once before and now I want to configure it for Firefox too. In this way I did the recommended SETTING at Control Panel->Java console for Firefox but it still prompt me to download the required Java Plug-in while running the applets.
- have installed JRE 1.6.0 U6 after uninstalling PREVIOUS virsion didn't make any changes, problem still persist - tried reinstalling Firefox didn't make any changes - updated Firefox from V2.0.0.5 to V3.0 after uninstalling previous version. didn't make any changes I cant get one thing, Why the user directory for java shown as C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator(there is not any such directory at this location) in java console for browser, while the java installation directory is C:\Program files\java\JRE 1.6_06 In Firefox click Tools > Options > Content There are options in there for Java. Answer» Hi All. whenever I open Mozilla or Internet Explorer I get an error message What exactly is the error message?It is the error message that you usually get when you aren't connected to the internet but you try to reach a webpage. Basically says: check your internet connection. check your firewall SETTINGS... this just shows up in the web page browser, not a pop up or anything. Do you know which one I am TALKING about?Do you use ZoneAlarm firewall? Did you update Windows through Windows Update right before this problem started? Did this problem start in the last several days? If the above answers are "Yes." you can thank MS for killing your internet access. The Update KB951748 conflicts with ZoneAlarm and ZA reacts by blocking all internet access. The solution is to: a) Uninstall KB951748, b) shutdown ZoneAlarm, c) temporarily set ZoneAlarm 'security level' to medium, re-start ZA. You should now have internet access. Update ZA then re-install KB951748. To uninstall KB951748: Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>ensure that the check box at the top of page (Show Updates) is checked>Scroll through the list to KB951748>Uninstall>re-boot. Let us know if this fixes your problem. |

Answer» I have IE7 and when I have more than ONE tab (example) yahoo website, NFL webite, MSNBC.com website up. It freezes or hangs when I SWITCH from one tab to another tab at times. Answer» Even though I use DSL, when going to a new web page, I frequently get a Cannot find server or Connection timed out error message. In order to get a connection, I usually reboot the modem. Other times, that doesn't work and I have to reboot the computer. Twice in the last couple of days, I had to do a system restore to get a connection. There is a wide difference in occurances. SOMETIMES I can go hours without getting an error, sometimes it can be every ten minutes or so. Answer» Hi, I bought a program of a website about 2 days ago and the program requires to connect to the website to work but it cant because every time i try to go to the website this comes up: Forbidden You don't have PERMISSION to access / on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was ENCOUNTERED while trying to USE an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/1.3.33 Server at www.rentacheat.com Port 80 When i bought the program it happened once or twice looking through pages but then the next day it dose it for everything and the program stopped working because it could not connect. Everyone else i know who USES the website can get in. i have never posted anything on the website so i have no idea why this is happening, ive LOOKED everywhere for solutions but cant find anyWindows version? Automatic fix: Click Here to download IEdll.zip. Save it to your desktop. Right click on IEdll.zip click on Extract all. Go to the extracted files and double click on IEdll.bat Follow the prompts. It will tell you when it is done. When finished restart your computer. Note: if you use SpywareBlaster, Spybot and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and select Enable all protection. For Spybot run the program and select Immunize. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection. Answer» My DELETE key works fine in work etc... but in the GOOGLE search bar and other seach bars the delete key will not work. Since this is not a keyboard issue, is there a setting or some place I can go to fix this issue. Delete key works fine in address bar, word, but will not work in google search bar and other but it does work in avg search bar. Solve : Firefox Modzilla , strange message before opening? |

Answer» I use XP with Firefox modzilla and Explorer. Recently when I open my Modzilla a message comes up about some of the script may have a problem (sorry I'm at work and the problem is on my home computer so I can't remember exactly what it says) and gives me the choice to "stop script" or "continue". If I hit continue the window will close and then nothing will happen. If I hit stop script the window will close and Firefox will open and function just FINE. I hardly use explorer but it opens without issue. The only anti virus software I use is ad-aware. I update and scan regularly. While you are working on your FF issue, you may want to get proper anti-virus/anti-spyware protection. Answer» Having used Mozilla Firefox 2 for ages and being very happy with it I upgraded to Firefox 3 more or LESS as soon as it was available. It worked fine for a day or two. Now it hangs all the time. It loads my homepage and will USUALLY load the next site but then will just hang. This happens no matter what the site or how many tabs I have open. I uninstalled Firefox 3 and downloaded 2 again but now this does the same thing too. I decided to go for a different browser totally and downloaded Safari but again this has the same problem. The only browser that is working is IE6. Any ideas what I can do to be able to use firefox again?Try Downloading CCleaner and clearing your temporary files for Firefox and System. |

Answer» I BOUGHT a laptop with Vista HOME Premium. It came with Google Desktop on it. I un-installed it and my internet browser quit WORKING. I still have a good internet connection, but IE Explorer wouldn't START. Downloaded Foxfire with another computer and installed it and it wouldn't work either. It ALSO disabled my antivirus program (F-secure). Did a restore back to before I un-installed Google Desktop and everything works fine. Answer» I had a malware trojan blackbird on my computer and have recently removed it. i have cleaned out my internet option, COOKIES, anything i can. i have SUPERantispyware, avast, and a few other spyware and VIRUS programs i DOWNLOADED and have gotten rid of because they found nothing after avast and super... scans. i also have a process viewer to see what program is running. nothing looks out of the ordinary or stands out. Another problem is when I'm viewing a page my computer usage jumps to 100%. i can not view multiple pages like i used to be. i have defraged, removed files i do not need. practically cleaned my SYSTEM out. I have read to many forums and post and my brain is starting to bug out. Does anyone know anything that i am lacking? also its not my internet connection because my roommates comps work fine. any ideas would be deeply appreciated or should i just get a NEW comp?. Answer» In the past 2 weeks I will be on a website and suddenly I get a box in the middle of the page telling me to connect/dial to get online. I have DSL through Verizon and no dial up. When I go to File the Work Offline is checked. I uncheck it and I am fine for a few MINUTES and then it happens again. This just started and I was wondering why. I HESITATE to call Verizon because I spend such a long time on the phone. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Answer» IE7 will not play a flash video from http://www.star-telegram.com/multimedia/. IE7 has a little yellow triangle with an exclamation mark at lower left corner and it says "Error on page". I have read the Q&A Number CH001032 and it says what causes this. However, I have tried Firefox on the same computer at the same url and it plays the flash video. Answer» Okay, the PROBLEM started yesterday and kept getting worse. I was sitting peacefully and watching my SITCOMS on my laptop, and all the of a sudden the red shield pops up and says my automatic update is off. I tried turning it on and it said I had to do it manually. I tried doing that. nothing happened. So i ignoring the problem and continued watching some sitcoms. Then I tried opening Firefox, doesn't wanna open. I checked in task manager and it wasn't running in the background either. Restart my laptop. Still same problem. Then i tried downloading torrents and it gave me the internet error message (the website not found). I thought norton was being a *censored*. I tried updating it nothing. I uninstalled and it installed it again. nothing. When i go to google.com and search for AVG antivirus, it takes me to a online enyclopedia dictionary bullsh**. I installed seek and destroy, spy doctor. The encylopedia crap went went away but when i enter antivirus websites it says website not found. BUT my torrent program and and emule were running fine the whole time. Even msn was running perfectly
Note: if you use SpywareBlaster, Spybot and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and select Enable all protection. For Spybot run the program and select Immunize. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection. Then go HERE and do the steps. Post the logs in the Computer Viruses and Spyware forum. You might have a read of this while the scans are running. |
