sd card d/l files placement. When i d/l to sd card which folder do i put them in so they are usable on my computer. My cpu is NOT online either. I wish i had wi-fi so i could get cpu online w/cell. What exactly are these files...where are they from...and what are you trying to view them with on the PC ? ? ?if you don't mind starting from scratch, you could probably reformat your SD card with this SD Card formatter software and see if it now works.

Assuming that your files you had before are stuff that should be able to be opened normally in windows. Just a thought  Just somthing I picked up on, The sanyo incognito is a mobile phone so there may be some file format/extension problems, ALSO what format is the SD card in the phone, can windows use/recognise the format as some phones have strange file systems, not FAT or NTFS.

When my MOM goes to enter a letter to put the persons name and email in the to field AOL  comes up with the error "undefined error" or "contact error". I have TOLD her to exit out of AOL and log back into her email ADDRESS only to have the problem happen again. The only way to elevate the problem is to either manually type the email address or log on and try again. Is this a problem with the AOL address book? Or some sort of character script somewhere?  She is using Windows Vista Home Edition.

How do I FIX the problem step by step? I have the newest version of Firefox before the new ONE out now that is optimized for AOL. What causes this issue? Any help is appreciated.

Did you empty cache and delete cookies? Sounds like something is corrupted.

Firefox and IE are operating just fine, and it is just google chrome, which I have installed and uninstalled and reinstalled relentlessly.
Please help, I'm getting DESPERATE.  Does this immediately happen upon opening Chrome or when trying to view certain websites?It immediately happens upon opening Chrome.

I just tried to USE Internet explore and it will not connect to the internet and when you switch to firefox it works, I did the netsh winsock reset did not help, any other THINGS that might solve this problem?

John1) What is NEW or different since the last time everything WORKED properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

2) Open Internet Options and on the Advanced Tab reset to default settings. See if that helps.I was downloading accelerators a few days ago this is what probably done it, but seems to have fixed by USING the restore feature went back 2 weeks now both browsers work.

I like Google Chrome, it seems to be an excellent browser but it's not as fast as I'd expect.
I get quite a bit of buffering so I opened the task manager which revealed 10 (ten) chrome *32 running.
This seems a bit excessive and I would image it's why everything slows down.
Is this normal or is there a way of RECTIFYING it.

The +1 is for the "Browser" process coordinating everything else. You'll also have processes for any extensions that might have a background window open. Hit Shift+Esc or go to Chrome's Task Manager (under the Tools menu/sub-menu depending on which version of Chrome you're running) to see a list of all the processes and what they're being used for. Also note that Chrome starts a separate process for each Flash instance.

by the way, Chrome has a built in sandbox, which means each tab has GOT its own process. One tab that crashes shouldn't take down all the other tabs, or even the entire browser itself theoretically.

Same deal with the active plugins and extensions.

So it's normal that you probably see many  "chrome.exe"'s lurking in your task manager assuming you do have chrome running . When one Tab crashes ...it takes down Chrome...

Trying to help a friend of a friend with this problem of basic graphics and invisible links in IE8 and FF on a WinXP SP3 laptop. The attached PICTURE makes it easier to understand. It's a shot of a facebook page with basic lines and an invisible link that I clicked on next to the sort link. I removed all the pictures and comments for privacy reasons, but it just looks odd anyways. Another issue that comes up is that when a POP up ad or overlay is on screen there is no 'X' to close, a box to TYPE in text, or a submit button. I have tried resetting to defaults, running IE8 with addons disabled, rebooting in safe mode with networking, it always looks the same in EITHER IE or FF. The computer did not have antivirus on it, so I did install Microsoft Security Essentials. Unfortunately, they have dial up speeds for internet connection and after 20 minutes of waiting for the definitions to download I had to leave, telling them to run a scan after it completed. I haven't seen this type of thing before and I am not sure why it would affect both browsers. What else could I try?

I notice that some odd variant of the Windows Classic theme is running... perhaps with High Contrast enabled causing colors to show up mangled.

Change the theme back to "Windows XP style" and see what happens.

Also, Is the browser set up to view pictures? (Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Multimedia->Show Pictures) Perhaps it may have been disabled by whoever set up the computer due to the user having a slow dial-up connection...No '!' in device manager. Unfortunately the appearance and theme did not help either. I talked with them today just trying things over the phone and they told me they did the virus scan and removed whatever it found. Also tried getting the latest version of flash installed. Started them on installing a new graphic driver. At this point I'm throwing in the towel and suggested they take it to a shop. If I hear back from them I will let you and others know what the problem was. Totally weird. Thanks for the assistance.

I have a recent version of Firefox. I know how to delete recent history and have done so(INCLUDING cookies). But when I start typing an address in the NAVIGATION bar, a drop down menu with the names/url ADDRESSES of sites that I have previously visited containing those LETTERS appears.

How can I delete this information also?

Hey everyone!

I have a problem with my Internet Explorer 9. It keeps crashing with a message that says "Internet Explorer has Stopped Working." This occurs on my Dell Inspiron 1545 (Windows 7 Ultimate). I wouldn't mind it if it weren't for the fact that it happens every other time I try to move to a new webpage. I did a FULL scan for viruses with Norton 360, and it only came up with the normal internet COOKIES that it handles on its own. This didn't solve my problem. Any help or insight with this problem would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Well, may I suggest you roll BACK to IE8 if that worked for you? I know it's a band aid rather than a solution, but still..........Norton 360 may be the root of the issue...disable it...re-boot...make sure ot's off and re-install IE.Thanks! I also have designed a custom homepage (all in one file, embedded CSS, images in online LOCATIONS) on the same disk.

Maybe I'm still missing the point but, as I see it, you simply need to replace %drive% with the actual drive letter.  For example: C:\

The point is that a USB flash drive is a removable drive and therefore does not have a predictable drive letter.

I think the OP wishes to have the portable Firefox use a homepage stored on the same flash disk.

I am looking for a plugin for firefox that will autodetect a link and automatically make it underlined and blue so I can just click it instead of having to select it. I have been TOLD by someone who uses an older version of firefox, that this happens automatically. The reason I ask is because when my friend was using his email on my comp (browser based) he said that normally he would be able to just click links in his email, but on my comp he said he had to copy - paste. I am running the latest of firefox and he said that he runs firefox too, but that he has the old version before they started upping versions using their new naming convention.

The laptop is a TOSHIBA L655-S5157 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64x.
The problem is that iExplorer 9 crashes. "iExplorer stopped working"
When it's opened on the startup page "google.com" nothing wrong happens, but as soon as I leave the page... same error, and it doesn't stop, even after iexplorer restarts.

The first thing I did, was to check if Windows was uptodate, but SP1 was missing. I ran Windows Update, and let it installed SP1 with other updates.

I uninstalled iExplorer 9 update (From Programs and features)

I saw that checking the "Use software acceleration instead of GPU" can solve the problem. But not in my case.

I have Google Chrome ALSO installed, and it works fine. But she wants to use iExplorer only...

I ran iexplorer 9 in safe mode with networking, and still the same error !!

I even CREATED a new ADMINISTRATOR windows user account, when I tried all of that.

I also forgot to mention, that I uninstalled Google Toolbar, a Norton toolbar (There is McAfee AV in there)

Whenever I try to log in to reddit.com on Google Chrome, the website gives me an error saying "an error occurred (0)" and I'm never able to log on. However, I am able to log on to everything else just fine, and I can also log into Reddit in Internet Explorer. Anyone know how to fix this? I've already cleared cookies and cache and all that. I checked every checkbox and selected "from the beginning of time"!

I decided to finally switch from IE to Chrome because I'm tired of having to click on a pop-up bar about security concerns every time I try to log in to Reddit. I have to type my info, then the bar pops up, I click it, and then I have to type in my info again. Pain in the *censored*!Another reddit.com user expressed the same problem in another forum and had it resolved by an answer given within. So i'm not really worried.While I can guess what is probably their reason for doing this, I dislike not having some control over my updates, regardless of what app we're talking about.  I'm sure many users SHARE this sentiment.  Beats having those stupid pop-ups every time. Java and Adobe Reader are the most annoying, a lot of people don't understand and even after you explain it to 'm, they still don't really understand why they have to be bothered by it. I'd be all for silently updating that.

Firefox' current update system works pretty well, though but it will be more user-friendly if it silently does it.

It'll get HANDLED RE my post above...i'll bank on that...but then when you have a major update, would you want to know when it happened in case something got borked along the way?

I recently Googled myself (tee-hee!)... ONE of the first hits is a summary of a profile I put up on a professional development board a few years ago. I THOUGHT it was a "private" group, but *censored*, nothing's private anymore.

Anyway, I have since taken down the profile, but the memory lingers. That is, when you Google me, the Google results page shows the first few sentences of the old profile, even though when you click through, it's no longer there.

I've changed careers, and I'm really not crazy about potential clients stumbling across that. It's not terribly upsetting, just irritating.

Is there ANYTHING I can do to change that? (Other than finding something on Page 12 and clicking on it about 755,000 times an hour to shift everything back a notch?)

For several days I have had problems with aweber.com. When I go to the site it takes forever
to load up. Then when it does load up the whole website is text.  All the navigation links are text links.

I have regularly cleaned my pc with Ccleaner and run both superantispyware and malwarebytes, and I have done scans with Avast.

Superantispyware did find a couple of incidents of trojans and had removed them...

Could this be a malware problem? I am getting ready to do the whole malware removal

Last time I did the malware removal process it took me a couple of days so I thought that

(When there is an issue with just one web site it is often something that this forum will not get into. The site you mentioned has a very specific commercial purpose that is outside the general interests of most of the members at CH.)

I think this this is SPAM.Since I did my last post I just had a problem with a couple of other websites..

3 or 4 of them kept timing out on me..

If WOT says a site is bad, you should avoid it. The web site your posted is a nefarious SPAM site and CH will not help with that.
Now if you are having problems with trusted sites, please say so. But do not post bad sties that will do possible harm to CH members.

It took me awhile...

But I got it fixed....


I am having no more problems ... All browsers are working correctly..

All sites I was having access problems are no longer problems

I had to download spybot and it found some malware that neither

Malwarebytes, superantispyware, combofix found it removed 24 incidents of a virus
that had infect my registry...

then I had windows renew my ip address...voila!  fixed!!!

As for Malwarebytes, make sure it is up to date. Just a day can make a difference. Same applies to other anti-malware.

Hi I'm new here. So I hope I'm posting this in the right section...


I am unable to load games on Shockwave.com. Some games I can load ( Super Text Twist®, Daily Jigsaw , (just to name a few) , and then some I can't load (JigsawParty, Monkey Quest).  I have been trying for almost 3 weeks (or more), to fix this probably. I've contacted Shockwave Help. They've basically gave up on me, and told me there's nothing they can do (in so many words). So I'm at a lost here. I don't know why I can't load games on Shockwave. I've tried just about everything. 


Here are the things Shockwave Customer Support told me to do:

1. They told me to uninstall, then reinstall both Adobe Flash Player, and Adobe Shockwave Player...

(This actually worked. But, I wanted to clear my browsing data (cache/cookies, etc.), and then it stop working again, for some reason. I don't know if that had something to do with it.)

2. They told me to visit this link (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html), and to follow the steps...

(That didn't work.)


3. They told me to try to use a different browser (Internet Explorer), and see if the game will work...

(That didn't work. I'm using Chrome, just so you know.)

4. They told me to Update my Windows software by going to Windows Update...

(There were no updates, so that didn't work. Unless I can manually update whichever software I want.)


Next, I went to YAHOO Answers to get help, because nothing was working. Someone suggested I download CClean. I was told to Uninstall Chrome, and uninstall any other broswer (not including IE), and then run CCleaner.

Here's what I did:

I downloaded/installed Mozilla Firefox browser. Then I uninstalled both Adobe Flash Player, and Shockwave Flash Player. Then I restarted my computer, and re-installed both Players. Then opened the Firefox browser, went to Shockwave.com, and it said I needed to install both Players (for some reason). So, I let it install the Players again. After that, I was able to load the game I wanted.

Hello, I got some nasty TOOL bars, and search providers from a game website.

I've uninstalled all of them.  But I can't GET Google back as I had it.  In the "search providers" it shows Google as the default but is 'disabled'.  There is no button or anything anywhere to 'enable' it!

Got any ideas?

My You Tube, etc videos are having intermittent performance issues and I'm supposed to have faster speed than what I see via pinging the connection with Speedtest.net.
Results are in the attached file.
 I've tried hardwired to the att modem, and using the ATT wireless modem and also my Belkin 802.11 N router, but this connection is just plain slow lately. I pay a lot monthly for ATT UVerse U200 TV and this internet service, I'm real unhappy with this connection speed problem.
 But I don't want to call for a service call until I'm certain the problem is not with my equipment = service CHARGE. 
 My PC's 'network and sharing center' / 'View Status" show's 100 mbs connection speed. But it's not happening.
 What else should I look for before I call for a service tech to come?
ATT wiring is all new from the box on the utility pole to the ATT wireless router that the installation tech recently installed December 1st 2012 when I moved into this new place.
 Is there an issue I can check on my equipment that may be causing this problem before I pay ATT for a service call?

AT&T and others provide the field techs with the equipment they need to verify the Quality of Service. This equipment can  test the actual low level performance of the hardware in terms that the engineers can use to spot line problems. There is a very common problem that exits when they try to use a voice grade line for digital
 service.

In brief, here is the problem. Other people had the phone line before you did. So it is not a virgin line. All taps to other drop wires haven to be removed. Sometimesgs they just forget to do it. My AT7T connection at the modem is really 3 Mbps. My Ethernet device says 100 Mbps. The lower number is the right one.

At 3 Mbps  I have done two video streams form Netflix k and the quality is good.  But I almost never get smooth video form YouTube. And I live in California.

What is your subscribed bandwith plan? The 100 Mbps speed is the maximum capability speed of your network adapter but does not necessarily mean that is your current speed connection.

This is an intermittent problem that I thought may be a limited bandwidth issue for this area, but I only have 3 ATT users I see in my immediate area in "Available Connections". (see attachment)

Why did you mention the other wireless users you see in your area?  Assuming they are using their own ISP accounts, detecting their signal has nothing to do with your Internet connection speed.

But, this raises other questions.  Do you have your wireless connection secured with WPA encryption, with a strong password, enabled in your router?  This prevents anyone else from using your wireless signal and consuming some of your bandwidth.  Also, are you sure that you're connecting to the Internet through your own ISP account and not one those neighbor's signals your computer detects?

And, by the way, how long have you had your present account with ATT?  If it's been awhile, have you reviewed their current packages to see whether you might be able to upgrade to a higher speed at little, or even no, cost?  A year or so ago, I got an upgrade in my Internet speed from CenturyLink.net by merely calling them to review my account with them; I had not done that for a few years and I had seen some pricing on their website that lead me to believe I should be able to get a better deal.  As a result of that phone call, my package was upgraded from 3Mbps download speed to 10Mbps at no additional cost.  It seems CenturyLink may be feeling some pressure from Time Warner cable and are trying harder to retain customers.  But, this happened because I made the call.  I'm sure CenturyLink would never have initiated a contact with me to tell me my Internet speed could be upgraded at no additional cost to me.

When I open a new tab in Firefox, & I'm using F/F 18, I get a 9 window selection and I can pin sites that I use regularly.
Yes that's very good and a good innovation, however when I pin one, the square/s that are vacant move to the next last site visited and introduces that to a vacant square.

Is there a way I can shortcut, deleting the ones I don't want, to get to one I prefer?
Where can I find the list of sites visited for each square?

I did read that page and it covers the basics but what I am asking is, and I hope I can explain it correctly, of the 9 panels in the page, I am happy with locations 1,2, 3, 4,  6,  and 8.

Of the remaining panels 5, 7 and 9, is there a list anywhere, of the sites that will come up, if I am not satisfied with what is selected for that panel or do I just keep deleting the suggestions supplied till I find one I am happy with?

Take panel 9 for example, if I delete the suggested fill-in, can I select a site from somewhere, say from a list available for that panel, to pin it in panel 9 or does the system just randomly come up with suggestions from some mysterious algorithm? You should be able to manually drag pages to the new tab page to automatically pin them. To do this, open the site you want and the new tab page in SEPARATE tabs. GO to the page you want, click and hold the favicon (the website icon next to the url). Keep holding and drag the mouse to hover over the 'New Tab' and wait for it to appear (you may have to try a few spots before it switches). Drop the page icon/url on the new tab page where you want it.

I just tested this on Firefox 20 Beta, but I believe that functionality has been AROUND for several versions now.Thanks TechnoGeek, that sounds like it will WORK quite nicely.

I'm getting a bit tired of just deleting a group of useless names, in the lists of the empty squares, till I find one that I go to a reasonable amount of times to justify PINNING it in the vacant panel.

How do I get back to my IE 8 menu and tool BAR? I have been invade by bing which has eliminated those TWO bars and replaced it with plain black bars. I have tried manage add ons and add and REMOVE in control panel.  no where is Bing listed.  Have you tried right-clicking on top/below the URL address box to tick/untick certain toolbars?Yes the above will work. I have created a simple html WEBSITE with some jpeg images created in photoshop.  They have been 'saved for web', using rgb colour space.  When opening the website in IE9 it does not display the images, but if I go to the file directly and right click 'open with IE' it opens the image on it's own OK.  The images display perfectly in the website when opened in FF or Safari.  This is all being done locally on my PC, not on any servers etc.  Windows 7.  IE9 64bit.

Any ideas?

First off we are dealing with Firefox 19.0.2 (Jesus it was v.15 last time I LOOKED)

I'm hating FF 20 more and more and more.

Today I've noticed that, after some time, a weird icon is POPPING up on the upper RIGHT corner of my screen. When I click or hover, I get no indication of anything. I've only noticed this today. I think it might be an eagle or a hawk on a perch, staring at me; it could also be a veal cutlet with a side of onion rings. I have no idea what it is.

I installed FF20 approximately 13 days ago; I've been using this laptop on a new client's network since Wednesday.

I have not noticed this icon popping up whilst connected via VPN, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been there and I just hadn't noticed.

I've also been receiving messages since last Friday about submitting data to Firefox's (rather, Mozilla's) "Test Pilot" / "Heat Map" project.

I have no idea if this is connected to any of this, or if I should EVEN care.

I'm asking you all first instead of MozillaZone, as everyone here is a whole lot nicer and more helpful, and they're typically snarkier and holier-than-thou-er.

That looks a lot to me like the Mozilla Feedback / Test Pilot logo. Look in your addons for those and disable or remove it if you don't use it. It should only be installed in beta or alpha versions but it's possible you got it somehow.

Running a dell inspirion desktop OS is Win 7 64 bit home premium. Tried using both IE and Firefox. Tried also on two computers. My problem is for the past couple of months I have been wanting to update and edit the about you section of my profile on Facebook. I can edit the basic info but when I GO to edit About you it says about me and I make some changes and then click save. The screen flashes but the changes are not saved so I cannot edit that section. I reported it 4 times to Facebook as a bug but am really frustrated. Is this happening to anyone else? How can I edit this section of my profile? Any help would b greatly appreciated. If I'm correct about how I think this works, I suggest the way to verify it is to ask one of your facebook friends whether they see your About You info, assuming they know where to look. I opened edit mode and entered "I am writing my first book" then clicked save. Then taking your wise directions I went into edit again and it was not there. I have tried this also on two separate computers. Could you possibly give me any more ideas? Hi All I having a problem that started TODAY, YESTERDAY evreything was fine. When I'm AOL and try an open a file I get this ERROR message:The File Can NOT be written to the Cache, it was a PDF file.
I CLEARED the cache and problem still exsist. When  I go with Internet Explorer I can open PDF FILES?

Are you saying your browser autofills the password or is your question something else? I've recently STARTED COUPONING. When I first started, I had no ISSUES printing on my Mac. I downloaded the "plug-in" from coupons.com and several others, with no issues printing. Recently, I am unable to print from either browser. Both browsers are up-to-date. I uninstalled Java and re-installed, but it didn't help. I am able to print from my HUSBAND's computer (windows vista) using Firefox. It must be something to do with my computer being a Mac? Even my husband's parents can print WITHOUT issue (Windows 7). I just got a refurbished Dell LATITUDE  D 630 with Windows 7 on it. I cannot sign into my Yahoo account with this laptop. I can with my DESKTOP computer also running windows 7. I can sin in  and out easily with the desktop, Not the laptop. I am using Uverse as my provider
Help!Are you sure this laptop is connected to internet, that is you can surf google and find info on dogs etc so its not cached and appearing connected when not.

You may have to download firefox with other computer and then copy the installer exe to a usb drive and install it on this TROUBLED computer this way if unable to get there to download direct from this computer.I will give it a try. Firefox 23.0.1, it seems as if .mp3 FILES are unable to be heard in Firefox, the files themselves often embedded into a website and with a play button. Upon taking the URL to Internet Explorer yields the ability to hear the file, but the PROCESS feels a bit silly just to hear one file.

Any thoughts onto why this may be? I've tried clearing my cache, as suggested by https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-common-audio-and-video-issues.I don't understand your PROBLEM. Firefox and Internet Explorer take add-ins or plug-ins separately. You can  install Win amp and let it be the player for Firefox.

The Windows Media Player plugin will only play a specific few Windows media formats (.asf, .asx, .wm, .wma, .wax, .wmp, .wmv, and .wvx) unless the web page is specifically designed for Firefox and other Mozilla browsers. Internet Explorer will use Windows Media Player for many other formats like mp3 and midi, but Firefox will REQUIRE another plugin, such as QuickTime.

Check Firefox Tools menu - Options - Applications. Look for MP3 content if listed.

I am not able to play you tube videos properly.
When i open a youtube video it starts buffering for few seconds and then it plays the video for 1 to 2 minutes and then it starts buffering for a long time i dont know much time it takes cause it stucks there then i am not able to see the video.

because as i watch youtube videos in my mobile through wifi of the same network it WORKS GREAT.
I have purchased a BSNL plan of 850 which gives me 2MBPS till 8GB and then 512KBPS.In that case you're either getting double what you're paying for, or 1/4 of what you're paying for, depending on whether you're paying for 2MB/s or 2Mb/s.  ISPs usually sell plans advertised in mb/s whereas your browser and Speedtest.net report in MB/s.  One megabit (mb) is 1/8 of a megabyte (MB) so if you had a 2MB/s service, you would expect to see 2MB/s download, whereas if you had a 2mb/s service, you would expect to see 0.25MB/s download.
The above is somewhat unrelated to your problem, just something I wanted to POINT out.  Either way, your speed sounds quite low for most videos, it may be that your cell phone is loading them at a lower resolution and/or quality and hence the low bandwidth isn't as much of a problem as on your PC.Man i used to see videos on this speed with less buffering such as buffering for 10 sec on my COMPUTER but now a days i cant.

I have been using Firefox as my browser for years!  I am up to date on all software. I have been having problems with my internet freezing up some. So I will run a scan with C Cleaner and that usually "fixes" the problem but I have recently been noticing the fact that there is a very large amount of Internet Explorer Temp Internet files, and cookies that need to be "Cleaned"  even though I have removed IE from my list of windows components? I am running XP sp3 On a dell notebook model 1011 I hope that this makes sense. It is like IE is running even if I am offline I have run task MASTER to see what is running and It showed nothing running in background! Is there a way to completely remove or disable all versions of IE? Also there is no IE version listed in the Add/Remove program list either!     This is the Hijackthis log file also

End of file - 6398 bytesCan someone please help me out?You normally only 1 version of IE and you can't actually completely remove IE, at least without risk is CAUSING damage to your system.  The option to remove via the Windows Components part of Add/Remove Programs simply removes the links (on Programs menu, desktop shortcut, etc.) to IE.  IE is rather tightly integrated into Windows OPERATING system and you should not attempt to remove programs files that make it work.  If you don't want to use IE, then simply don't use it; just ignore it.

The fact that you see Temporary Internet Files from IE appear when you run CCleaner's file cleanup utility is, I believe, attributable to factors which, for practical purposes, are beyond your control.  For example, I have also observed the same thing you have noticed about Temporary Internet Files from IE in my Windows 7 system, even though I may not have used IE since the last cleanup.  I attribute this to the fact that I use Microsoft Outlook and Windows Live Mail on that computer and I believe they put Temporary Internet Files in the same location as IE.  And, perhaps other MS components do this also.

What is your hardware setup for Internet access?  Are you using a router?  Are you absolutely sure your modem and router are working fine and that your ISP never has any downtime?  I suggest you run some speed tests, at various times, of your Internet connection via speedtest.net.

I use Google Chrome and recently when searching with Google, the main search results page seems to disappear. For instance, if I want to search for some INFO, I would press the new tab button, enter the info and I would get the first page of results. After going through a few search entries, and press the back button, the Google search would bypass the original search result page and GO back to the new tab page. I would then have to TYPE in the same search info all over again. The original search results page would not show up in the Back Button drop-down menu or in the History. Recently Internet Explorer 9 started blocking some of my toolbars that I regularly use. 2 examples are Xfinity toolbar and Yahoo toolbar. I had each SETUP to access CERTAIN sites. I tried USING the view menu/toolbars, click the listed item, an enable window pops up, I click enable and nothing HAPPENS, I tried tools/ manage addons,
list comes up that lists enabled and disabled toolbars. The ones I want show disabled and will not enable.
I use a registry/ computer utility that has helped me through many problems, It is Regcure Pro by Paretologic. Could this be the problem? or a microsdft gitch

I paid for a remote session with comcast techs. The tech couldn't figure it out. His recommendation is to reinstall my windows 7 OS. Not a pleasant thought.
I uninstalled the IE9 update and reverted to IE8. The toolbars can be enabled in IE8, but I don't like the look of that browser.
I did try uninstalling the toolbars from programs and features and the redownloading them, still won't enable

1) Run the file IExplorer.exe you just downloaded. Rkill will stop/kill any PROCESSES associated with malwares running in the background. Do not restart the computer as the processes will not run again until you restart.

2) Run the file Adwcleaner and CLICK the scan button to scan your system for any toolbars and adwares. After scan is complete, review all tabs to see what has been found, Click Clean to remove all found objects. Your computer will restart to complete removal.
3) After computer restarts, run the downloaded sc-cleaner.exe Scan and remove all shortcuts created by the toolbar/adware.

Your computer now should be free from the gone toolbar and also any other toolbars you may not be aware of.

I moved over to Google Chrome about a year or so ago after having been recommended to use it as it is faster etc.
At first the browser seemed very nice and was in fact faster.
However, over the past month or so it has slowed down considerably to such an extent that it's taking 10-15 seconds (and often much longer) to load a page.
I've run CCleaner, Super antispyware, malwarebytes as well as AVG anti virus but this doesn't SEEM to have helped.
I've given up and gone back to IE which is now working much faster and at an almost acceptable speed.
I'm wondering why Chrome deteriorated so drastically?
I'm using an HP laptop with an AMD II P320 Dual-core, 3GB RAM

For the fact that IE is faster than Chrome, it looks like its not an issue with bandwidth/your internet speed. Although if your curious as to the speed you can always run www.speedtest.net and get figures on your internet speed which is pretty realistic with exception to some ISP's that allow full bandwidth for SITES that perform loopback testing, and then throttle your access to other sites which can confuse some people as to why a connection seems slow when speed testing shows it as FAST, as well as the host of where ever your connection to may throttle or not have enough bandwidth with all the TRAFFIC that is hitting it, or due to location on the other side of the planet you get large latency due to the many hops to transmit the DATA between the server and your own computer.Stop ressurecting old Topics. My laptop has IE 10 installed ,,,,I am  using this laptop for my work and there are some website work related  should be run in IE8 or compatibility mode.

Every day when I use those websites (work related) I have to use F12 --> Browser mode : IE8, or Tools --> Compatibility view settings

How can I make either one of these CHANGES to stay PERMANENTLY ? or Can do I need to install IE8.

No they are not such a website anyone can access them unless you FIND them coincidentally, because they need a USERNAME and password
 My advice is to contact the creator of the website(s) and tell them the site will not properly display in IE 9 or IE 10.

Someone has been hacking into my computer and it seems they are making it obvious that they are doing so. My mouse and cursor moves by itself and clicks on things without my touching (and yes auto-click is turned off).  Video feed is also sluggish or lagging. I contacted my pc protection providers several times and we have run every scanning test known to man. Even deleted everything completely off of my computer and restored it to factory setting. But it is still doing the same thing, still even getting Norton 360 high internet usage alerts even with everything deleted off my computer and one window open. So I'm guessing with all the work done this was not software installed to my computer someone is actually hacking my wifi/modem/internet connection via my ip address. My ip address changes every 24 hours, is secured with high encryption and password so I'm not sure how they are doing this. My internet providers are saying it is impossible for this to happen unless the guy is a big time hacker. But I've researched and it seem nowadays their are so many tutorials and program kits you can buy to do this. I have no where else to look or turn, I'm desperate I feel my privacy has completely been invaded. My question is how is this person continously hacking me? The majority are themselves backdoor access trojans; so you install that too to allegedly gain remote access to another PC and you yourself are infected.

That is, to explain the grammar here, I'm speaking of 'those' where those are the sorts of sites, information, and programs that you find online that are actually legitimate and accurate. Those that you do find do not provide any real "hacks" or even information about remote access of a PC without having direct local access to it or a proxy for direct local access such as a secure shell supplied through a Trojan. And of course we have to discount that because such a trojan would be wiped clean if the system was restored to factory settings.

I'm sure you could easily claim that "but it could have infected the BIOS". That's great, but that isn't what I'm saying. Anything is possible which is why you have to eliminate the less probable unless there are very good reasons to consider them more seriously or you can discount the more probable.

For example if you got up one morning and your tires were slashed, would you initially think it might be the government trying to silence one of the only vocal opponents of the local proposition to enact a larger seniors discount for Bus fare, or would you suspect the neighbor who, after a protracted argument about you leaving your blinds open while wearing your robe without closing the front, said "I'm going to slash your tires"? Probably the latter.

I purchased a used Toshiba laptop with a windows 7 OS. Everything appeared to be in good condition, but IE will not allow me to download my prefered browser google chrome. I keep getting a window that ask which program I want to use to open the FILE. I assume IE is the correct one, but when I chose it another window opens and ask if I want to run or save the file. Neither seems to do anything except open the same thing in a new window. Should I chose anther program?It seems you are having problems with 'file association'. This is more of a comment than an question.  Today, I was prompted to update Flash Player.  It normally handles this completely outside the browser but today it took a different approach, apparently as designed by Adobe.  When I clicked OK to get the update, a web page opened at https://get3.adobe.com/flashplayer/update/plugin/ and I clicked on the Update now button.  The web page also shows the option to unselect installation of Google Chrome.  I do not have Chrome INSTALLED on this computer (Win 8 laptop) and did not intend to install it.  I overlooked the option on the web page and soon DISCOVERED Chrome was being installed along with the Flash Player update.  I canceled the installation, went back to https://get3.adobe.com/flashplayer/update/plugin/ and then SAW the option to unselect Chrome, which I then did and proceeded with the update of Flash Player.
