Hi, im finished both NFS Underground and Underground 2 and am looking at gettin NFS Most Wanted. I wondered if anyone COULD offer their opinion on Most Wanted and whether the Black Edition was a lot different/better than the normal edition. Well game my mate has has Bith NFSU 2 and NFS Most Wanted and he prefers NFSU2. There are quite a few lot features apprently. Like there isnt any drift races and the grpahics arnt much different as well. However on NFUS MW there are laods more cars. Oh and on NFSU MW then you cant change many of the features on the car, and there is also apparently fewer decals and styles to choose from. Anyway thats jsut what ive been told, hope this helps.


C}{r1$However in Most Wanted there are cops. Which make things more difficult. There are less features though that you can do to the cars in Most Wanted, no trunk audio, spinners, and the such. However myself I find the graphics have been improved.

The only difference between the black edition and the normal edition is you get a DVD with the black edition of behind the scenes stuff. How they used real people in the cut scenes and things like that.

If you liked NFSU2 then NFSMW is something you will enjoy as well. Have fun.

NFSHP2 was good too! It was just impossible to win races though... That was the fist game I actually hacked myself lol I messed with it so that when I went to buy a car, the game payed ME to own it. I CHANGED speeds and stuff too

FlameYou for real or kidding that game was easy to beat in the beginning when you had a crappie car it was a bit hard but after that it was easy all the way Well yeah, the first one or two were easy, but when you have to race all those cars to advance to the next champ. level, it was hard lol

FlameI bought NFSU2 and I totally regret it.. What pissess me off is that they use rubber band AI, so if you get the lead, and you mess up like hit a pole, your screwed for the rest of the race.Same with the first underground... That's why I stopped playing lol

The bad thing about this game is it may take 5 or 6 trys to CONNECT to the server due to heavy traffic. And alot of people COMPLAIN about lag. I just purchased D&D Online and the game is stuttering with lag more than any game I've ever played... Is this common for a lot of people or is it just me? BF2 is also a bit choppy at TIMES, but I think that's the memory LEAK.

As freeware games go, this one is absolutely fab. It's by JAPANESE developers, I think, but no less PLAYABLE for it. Hunt around for the moves list, to GET the most from the game. Hey ross its me, i made a POST a while back and you recoended AA. Well i downlloaded it but arnt the grpahics a bit ribbishy?

And jsut wondering what multiplayer is like, because all the traing MISSIONS kinda get a bit boring

Anyway thanks for recmomendation its a GREAT game considering its free!You have to complete basic training FIRST before you can do deployment.

You can up the graphics i have mine all on full go to setting then DISPLAY settings.

The training sucks i know because you have to sit though lectures. Even when you do start playing multiplayer its crap for about 2 weeks because you get killed all the time. Once you have been playing it and you get your honour up you will start to enjoy it.

Whenever I play any games on my computer i after a little while my screen turns into all differnt colours, i can still hear all of the SOUNDS of the games but the screen changes.

For example, when i play my NHL game as soon as i finish a game the problem with the screen occurs, and with my torino 2006 game as soon as i finish a race of anyking the problem with the screen occurs.

This hasent always happend though, all my games would run PERFECTLY fine.

And I dont know if this is related to my gaming problem, but sometimes a little box comes up asking me if i want to turn off or stand by and what not.

So if any of you guys have any IDEAS please reply.

Maybe you could try to run dxdiag, an excellent tool to see if there is any problem with direct draw or direct 3D.

It helped me when I had problems with Halo.

Also, if you have recently INSTALLED an old computer game, you may think about uninstalling it. Maybe you have troubles with old drivers. In that case, update them.I think the original poster is AWOL. Try running a Disk Defrag if you have been doing a share of installing/uninstalling recently. What changes have you MADE to your system recently anyway?

Hi, IVE just started PLAYING Re-Volt again on the PC, and im trying to play the game over a LAN. I set up a server then use another computer on the network to try and get a list of servers but the game comes up with the error:

'DPERR_UNAVAILABLE'

'Can't init DirectPlay connection'

'ok (button)'

I click ok and it brings up the previous menu again.

I am using version 1.10 of Re-Volt and the connection I have set the game to is 'IPX connection for DirectPlay', which it says to have in then manual for playing on a LAN. I have also CHECKED my firewall settings which are ok and have tried disabling it. But now im out of ideas.

Your help would be greatly appreciated as this will be a fun game to play on a LAN!

Hi, I just bought settlers 4 and installed it. For some reason when I start the game it pops up and error message saying, " Fatal Error: Exception 0x0000094 at 0x004e33f6! ". Does anyone know if this is a game error or a system error? It looks like a memory issue but what do I know! I am running XP on an Asus board with ATI 2600, 1 gig of ram and a 3.0 Pentium. FlameI'm using XP home, and my system surpasses all requirements by a long shot. and yes I am seeing the error on a blue(default) screen. Actually it's gray because of windowblinds. . The error message shows it is in the S4_Main.exe file.Have you searched the game manufacturer's website for similar issues? Who is the manufacturer? Are your video card drivers up-to-date?

Thanks very much!! Good for you. It looked like there was a PATCH and some other tinkering that needed to be DONE. Glad you are playing again! Yeah, The patch at Ubisoft's website is not the one to fix the problem with compatibility. And switching the way XP runs the program did the trick

um i was curious as to how i could run the same exact game/process more than once at the same time...i DONT really care about how much it slows down my computer or its performance, i just want to know how to do it. for instance, say i have a game in my task manager under processes labeled "blasterball.exe" or something...how would i be able to run that exact same process again at the same time but with a new and separate game window?...i really have no clue :-? on how to do this but it would be very useful! thanks AHEAD of time for your patience, BYE...You can't do it.If you found a glitch to make the computer confuse and you can open 2 the same operation maybe it might work

i'm not exactly sure where to put this question.
we just added a harddrive to our COMPUTER. we moved all our information from the old hard drive (which still is in the comptuer and has the same information) to the new one- cause it has more disk space.

i than installed sims 2. i had not had it on my computer before cause i didn't have enough disk space. it installs fine, but when i try to play it tells me that there is no direct x9.0c on my computer. i have checked to make sure t hat there is, i have even gone through the control panel and made sure it is all working properly and it says it is. even the 3d GRAPHICS pass all tests.

does anyone have any idea what the problem could be or where i could go to figure it out?Run dxdiag to be sure 9.0c is installed.

I mostly play Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament2k4, and Battlefield: Vietnam. The problem I have with all three is that it takes me forever to load maps in multiplayer (and even to some extent in single player). However, once in the game I have little to no lag (usually a ping of 45). Is there anyway to boost these loading times? More RAM, more powerful processor, a better videocard.

RAM, however, would MAKE the most notable difference IF the rest of your system is up to date.

A faster connection would also help reduce loading times.

Bestbuy has a 512 DDR for $90
they also have a 256 DDR for $135 and $120 (one is slightly fster). However the last two have a higher speed.

So which is better? More memory or the higher speed?RAM is your bottleneck.

Increasing your amount of RAM will decrease loading times.

I donot know what kind of RAM is installed currently, but if your mainboard supports Dual Channel I suggest you remove your current RAM and INSTALL two identical RAM sticks.

You will want at least 512mb DDR RAM. I donot know what the maximum amount of RAM is that your mainboard can coop with and neither do I know what clock-speed is sufficient. You will have to look into this. Either consult your MANUAL or contact your mainboard's manufacturer tech support.

I've got a small problem with Stonekeep, one of Interplay's games, released in the fall of 1995. I've got version 1.2, and I've been encountering a problem in Map 11, The Palace Of Shadows. The game doesn't freeze or lock up, but something's not appearing. When I enter the level, I go north, and then go west at the wall, turning left at the corner to go south to the next area (a hall that WRAPS AROUND in a large square formation), and I get attacked by floating skulls, which I decimate. After this, here's the problem. I go through a dark mirror to get to the east side, to an area that mirrors the area I was at, and the shadow skulls that are SUPPOSED to be there never SHOW up. I can walk around the area and hear them, but I can't fight them or SEE them, and they don't attack me. Would there be any way to get them to appear? This problem has been bugging me for years. In all other areas, where shadow skulls are supposed to appear, they appear as they should. *Sigh*

I am having the same problem with all games. The games LOAD up OK but immediately I start playinng the screen flickers. It goes black for about a second, and then the game returns. With GTA this happens about every thirty seconds, which is naturally affecting my driving. With Call of Duty it happens every ten seconds which MAKES the game impossible to play.

I am really losing my patience, and my sanity. I really hope somebody can help me out with this, I've registered on about 4 forums without GETTING answers. And one site wanted to charge me for the answer. (Yeah, I cussed out my computer after I saw that.)

Now, I found that this is a PROBLEM with GeForce 6XYZ and above. This leaves me kinda strapped, because I can't afford to upgrade my $170 video card. I've heard people say they have fixes, but they have yet to work for me. I've tried updating my video drivers to the very HIGHEST possible. I've tried adjusting my monitor refrest rate. I've tried disabling the SOUND system I don't use anymore. I've patched the game.

I really hope SOMEONE here knows about this game and can help me out. I've been searching the Web to no avail.Which operating system are you using?

I would try a previous driver as well. The latest is not the latest and greatest for everyone. They're just the latest.

currently i'm playing games such as everquest2 , world of warcraft, city of heroes and star wars galaxies. for some of these games for some reason when i logg on the ingame graphics appear very torn and very distorted like some sort of abstact PAINTING. at first i thought maybe my cd's were damage SOMEHOW which would tell me why it is happening ....thinking that the games were currupted. but i just bought star wars battlefront and installed it to find that it's having the same problems as well. my SYSTEM is a amd antholon chip 2200 cpu 1.8 wiht 1.5 gigs of ram i have windows 2K and a nvidia 6600 series video card. i've tried to reinstall the video driver numerious times. i've even done a reinstall of my motherboards DRIVERS including the vido cards drivers and reinstalling the games and it has not helped the problemWhat drivers are you using?

Do the D3D and DirectDraw tests pass when you run DXDIAG?You could try using some archived drivers from the nvidia site, there is a link on the left hand side.
I see you say it happens for 'some' of the games.
Have you checked the game sites for fixes & patches?to answer your question i'm using the latest forceware for this card which is 81. something ..hehe anyways all the active x and direct x things in the diagnostic say there working fine . and when i say that some of the games don't have that problem they are all online games mostly. but i'm going to try some archived drivers to see if that helpsIf the problem only happens when you are playing online then I suggest the answer will not be drivers.

Well finally, 5 years after its release Ive finally bought Black & White and I can't get it to work. It tells me on attempting to run the game that its has CAUSED an illegal operation and must shut down contact vendor blah blah blah. I've installed all the patches and reinstalled the game .

I'm attempting to run it on PC Win 98, as FAR as I know it has all the recommended SYSTEM requirements and its still not working. Does anyone have any advice for me?

You may also need to install the most recent Windows 98 [critical] updates.As mentioned above DDRAW.DLL is affiliated with DirectX. Make sure you have the latest DirectX drivers. Because DirectX is also affiliated with your sound and video drivers I also suggest you also try getting updated video and sound drivers.Yeh I did a search for ddraw.dll and found that it was associated with directx. All has been updated and reinstalled with no effect. Think I'm just going to have to give it up as a bad job. Managed to get it to play and install no PROBLEMS on my bro's laptop, so its not too bad. Ive done quite a few searches online as well and it seems that most people appear to have had problems with this game. When they get past one problem another appears to crop up.

Good game though when you eventually get it to work without glitches, although the controls are a nightmare!

I think I have probably mentioned this before but a game whose praises I can't sing high enough is Morrowind. Hours upon hours of joy filled RPG fun, can't wait for the next one...

At one point I also got addicted to online MUDs, I don't recommend playing these though to anyone who has got close relationships that are high maintainence because when I got into playing these I got so addicted I used to stay up playing TIL 6 in the morning!

Anyone played Champions of Norath? What did you think of it? I've been searching the web for the last week for ways to try to fix my laptop to play Neverwinter Nights.

Here are the system specs:

Computer: Intel Celeron CPU, 2.80GHz
Operating System: Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2
Hard Disk: 100GB (79.8GB free)
RAM: 512MB
Video Card: ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 IGP, VRAM: 128MB
DirectX: 9.0


A little history about what I've tried so far: When we first got the laptop, we tried to install the ATI drivers, only to get an error message during the instalation stating that our card wasn't VGA compatable, and that we should get that taken care of first. So, for a time, we were unable to put any drivers on the laptop for our ATI card. I decided to do a bit of searching around on the internet and came across the Omega drivers, which had been tweaked a bit based on the ATI catalyst ORIGINALS. So I tried downloading some of the earlier Omega drivers only to get the same message. Only when I got to around 4.1 did the message disappear, and I was able to install the ATI drivers. I bring up Neverwinter Nights, and do the "configure" option in the first menu.

It gave me this configuration:

So, after configuring it, I decide to go ingame. I log in the game fine, and start moving through the areas. After 8 minutes, the screen goes black, but my quickslot bar and task bar are still present - so it didn't really crash. My fps slows way down though, and it takes forever for my mouse to highlight the exit menu and exit the game. After that, the screen went black almost immediately upon log in, even after a restart. So, I figure that if I could get those first 8 minutes out of the game, then there must be some deeper problem. Because for those 8 minutes, my video card could handle the game and moved just fine through play.

So, I decide to get rid of the Omega DRIVER and try another. Do some research on the best way to do that and discover driver cleaner. Read up on it, give it a try, and get the blue screen of death. Nothing helps and I end up having to do a full reinstallation of Windows. Long story short, I do the reinstallation and get back to were I was. On the next go for downloading a driver for my ATI card, I attempt the ATI catalyst home page again... Same result as before. So, once again, I turn to my good friend - the internet. After a bit of reading, I discover a driver mod tool that converts ATI catalysts to be useable with mobility cards (apparently ATI didn't support mobility cards for some reason). I download the driver mod tool and... SUCCESS!!! I am able to instal the ATI catalyst driver.

I instal the latest one and attempt to test Neverwinter Nights again. Unlike the Omega drivers, the ATI drivers don't load up the game like normal. Right away, the frames per second are awful. When I finally get in game, I can't do anything. I wait a bit, and sure enough, the black screen appears again. So, I discover that the Omega drivers are doing something right... But what it is, and how to keep it going, I have no clue.

Back to the internet to read some more... I check the Bioware forums, doing google searches for anyone that has an ATI mobility 9000. Many problems with ATI, few solutions. The solutions that I did find were such things as:


Peoples random ideas:

- Try disabling the hardware mouse in the nwn.ini file.

- Go to the system32 folder and copy the Atioglxx.dll file and put it in your NWN folder.

- Turn down all of your "eye candy" settings.

- Turn down all of your OpenGL settings.

- Run the game at it's lowest configuration.

- Go to start/run type regedit, and change your SecondLevelDataCache to 1 instead of 0 in the HKEY_LOCAL menu.



Well, needless to say, I tried all of these with no positive results for the game performance. I'm not too savvy with computers, and most of my knowledge has come over the past week with reading what others have done and what others suggest for solving some problems. I only write this because I've exhausted all of my avenues and I'm starting to come across threads that I've already visited in my SEARCH for a fix. So, if anyone that has knowledge of this problem, or possible solutions with how to fix it so I can get the game running, I'd be in your debt.

Also, if any help involves going into the BIOS, or any other folders like system32 to change files and such, a walk through would be appreciated simply because I'm not totally familiar with all of that.

Note: I've tried nearly all of the ATI catalyst drivers, both old and latest releases, as well as the Omega drivers, both old and latest releases with no positive improvement from what is listed above, and I eventually got driver cleaner to work properly.

So what is system shock is aboutResident Evil 2 i used to play it on PSX though. I used to find Doom quite scary aswell, with those great big devil type things on about level 54 or something shooting fireballs at me! Forbidden Siren is supposed to be quite twisted. Anyone played it? I'm thinking of getting it...I would have to say FEAR followed by DOOM 3DOOM 3 is pretty crazy because you CANT SHOOT and have a light on at the same time, and you think, WHAT IF HE MOVED? Of course, theres no such thing as a gunlight or, god forbid, duct tape.

I have the game 'Nicktoons Racing'. I tried to uninstall it, and the uninstall was interrupted by a short poweroutage. Now, the program is still on the computer and when I try to run it, the uninstall screen comes up with the WINDOW- would you like to remove the selected application and all its components?- with an ok and a cancel. If I click ok, it flashes the uninstall bar at 100% then nothing and the game is still there. I can't remove it or play it. I have a rebuilt computer with windows xp. I don't know much else.How long ago was it that you tried to uninstall the program, and then got an outage?

FlameI don't exactly remember, about a month.Re-install it, noting the install directory, then un-install it.
If you have any leftovers after that then just DELETE them.
You can also search your REGISTRY for leftovers after FIRST backing it up and/or run a registry cleaning program.
Lots of programs leave little poops in your registry after being un-installed.
Some are intentionally left there to stop you re-using limited shareware over & over.the program does the same thing whether I am trying to install or uninstall.Try re-booting the computer then delete anything that's left over.

Maybe the resolution of the game was changed and it does not support your monitor display causing it to GO black screen. Try to use a bigger monitor and change your game resolution to the desired display ex. 800 x 600. Just try it maybe this will help. I'd also encountered this problem and the one i've stated was the solution.

I installed sims and it worked fine. I borrowed some expansion packs and installed Unleashed. Before the installation completed, there was an error message. I can't remember what it said, but after that, sims wasn't installed on my computer. When I tried to install it again, everything worked fine, but when the installation actually started, it didn't do anything. It didn't read the cd, and the only way I could close the screen was with ctrl+alt+delete. I couldn't find any way to install it. The first time I installed it was with the original cd I borrowed from someone. I burned the cd and used it to play. Someone help!!Game manufacturer's have many ways to PREVENT the piracy you are attempting. Perhaps if you had your own legal copy they would help? We don't do warez, cracks, or piracy here.GX1_Man, it very well could be a security device, however I am doubtful. Being a former "Sims JUNKIE" I installed the game and all of the packs I had (including unleashed) on my old computer as well as my new computer several times. I never had an issue. My suggestion to our viewer is to (1) Contact EA Support, becuase this is a lockup/crash issue during installation. Also make sure the system is compatible. I highly doubt that this is a security device doing this... They don't make you register or activate online or anything... As long as you have the key, that's it. Please get back with is.

FlameThere are problems COPYING the CD's and using those, though, no?Well, we're not sure if this is a BURNT copy of the program yet. I would wonder why it did work, but no longer does. I suggest trying both CDs. I'm not saying that it's not a security device either. It's very possible. I just want more evidence before saying that's what it is.

Flamejust for flyingI'm not sure how that would work actually... If the joystick is plugged in and configured, I would imaging it being the CONTROLLER for the whole game, and not just for flying... I SPOKE with Raptor (a former member) about it, and we've come to a simple CONCLUSION... You don't get enough flying time in the game to really make use of this... I'm not sure how many people here could help you with this issue, as it seems you are having ISSUES with getting the game to use the stick properly... You might contact EA support for some advice... Perhaps they've tried it before? Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. :-/

Interesting, 1 MB is approx 20 times faster than dialup but 10 MB is only 55 times faster?

Either way, it sure leaves dialup in it's dust. In general, you won't be disappointed with the 10 meg connection. There are ALWAYS a few gotchas. On CABLE, the connection is shared with other users so it is doubtful you will ever get the full 10 megs. There can be bottle necks in the routing between you and the destination, and the remote server may not be able to provide data at that speed. However, for gemeral use, it is APPROXIMATELY equal to a 10 meg ethernet connection. (Not as fast due to required overhead)

Ive had this issue with my computer just recently, slapped 'er trogether with these specs:
AMD athlon 64 939 socket 3200+
Asus A8v deluxe motherboard
1.5 gig of DDR dual channel ram (2x 256/2x 512)
80 gig HDD by western digital
Nvidia GE Force 6600 gt Video card w/128MB Ram
Factory Sound card on motherboard (does just fine)
Windows XP professional SP2

The Problem:
Only with more recent games do I have an issue, On far cry with the video settings set @ low on everything does it work for hours on end without any problems, if I do the auto-detect (which it has everything on high) or if I run F.E.A.R. sometimes GUN, it locks up without warning.. Fear and farcry on high settings run EXTREMELY smooth so I know that the hardware I have is capable of handling it but it just locks without a BSOD and I have to do a hard reset. Ive upgraded all the drivers for sound/video card and I ran MEMTEST86+ and my ram is fine, run asus probe to see if it was overheating and it doesn't even seem like it from the temps and voltage I see, doesn't even get close to the threshold, dx diag runs all tests and they come out just fine... Strange part is is that if I run a wal-mart fan on my motherboard then it gives me a little more time making me think temp :-? (maybe RAM???) but asus probe doesn't... I've tried everything I can think of.. Could it be my optical drive?? it is over 5 years old but still runs everything else like a champ but maybe can't handle games that are more recent?? Like I said I have racked my brain trying to figure this out, chances are it's looking at me right in the face but I wanna get some OPINIONS if all of you would be so kind.........

Sir BundySince you have three high-end games in graphics on the computer at once, this may slow it down when playing because of the fact that they are newer, and your computer may not be able to take it all at once. Try taking a game off, and see how it works out.Yeah I suppose if I were to run them all at once but otherwise I'm not accessing the software but one at a time... Otherwise they're just on my HD waiting to be opened.... I know the system I have can handle it since when it does play its really smooth, no HANG ups until it just locks up... I was reading something about my video card having issues heating up so I may buy a fan to replace stock and see how that goes, I have riva tuner and my temps as far as I was able to get playing fear and exiting before it had the chance to lock my temps were in the high 80's when playing for just a couple minutes... thanks for the thought I may give it a try just to see..It doesn't work like that Perfect Agent.

It sounds like you are on the right track with temps Bundy.
Can you test with 2 desk FANS?
How high does your ambient temp get?
FYI, there is a nocd patch for Farcry.

FlameAdditionally to what Flame already suggested where is it asking for a SOCKET number and what is the game you're attempting to PLAY?

Finally make sure when you're doing the ping command you're pinging the other computer and not the IP address of the computer you're running the ping command on. For example one of your computers is 192.168.0.101, the other could be a DIFFERENT address such as 192.168.0.102. If this were the case you would ping 101 from 102 and 102 from 101.Quote

I rececntly just started having this problem after a season and half of another the game started crashing got to the point of restoring the pc.
Ireinstalled windowsxp home edition then video drivers and sound drivers form their WEBSITES installed madden 2006 along with DIRECTX 9.0b that came on the game disc it plays perfectly no problems. I then created a restore point installed service pack 2 and directx 9.0c tried to play the game it crashes to the desktop the game will start and look to be doing fine but once you try to go and play in actual game on the field it crashes after the loading screen it boots to the desktop. I have been DEALING with EAsports tried reinstalling video cards after removing them of course no effect all drivers are up to date according to driver detective.com no background stuff running as its a fresh install of windows nothing else on the pc clean temp folder in windows and local setting temp folder. This game did work at one time with 9.0c i had all this installed when i played the game and it worked for 30 some games then all the sudden it won't play the game.directx FINDS no problems and there are no error messages other games play fine like world of warcraft MVP baseball 2005 and nba live 2005 so whats the deal with madden all the sudden.Re-install it. Or, you just could be having software problems with your video card. Check to make sure you have enough space for all these games too.PerfectAgent52 is our resident Madden expert ! To START off im not too knowledgeable on computers just the basics. Now for the problem. When i play games online (from a wide range of websites) and play my own games it will start off fine then the game will get slower over time. After a couple of minutes of that the game will go back to normal for a couple of minutes, then it wil start slowing down again. I tried DEFRAG, got the most update DirectX, cleaned registry. Ill put up my system information and compare it to Warcraft3 (going to get WoW when i get more RAM and fix this problem). Please help me out.

Free: 81.59 GBI think your problem will be solved when you get more ram.Re-install it. I had the same problem, I re-installed it, then messed with the video settings to fix it. I will give you SPECS when I get home.

thanks in advance.You can't copy the game unless you have the complete installer or CD/DVD image file. If the game is allready installed and the installer is no LONGER there, it won't work on the other PC.

search for the setup file.
if you still have it.
make sure you have a cd burner in the dell.
if so, insert the CD-R into the drive.
go to my computer, double CLICK on the cd icon.
paste the setup file and right click then click write these files to the cd.The original poster is AWOL. Probably playing the game.....

Is the rebooting problem since you added the extra RAM?

2) Make sure you have adequate cooling to CPU and system

3) Make sure you have an adequate power supply. If it is an "el cheapo" or came with a no NAME case, it should be upgraded to a name brand PSU on general principle. If you didn't spend $50 on at least a 400 W PSU it is suspect.

These are the most common solutions to your problem.

I placed a computer game CD (PANZER Codename: Phase One) into my drive. DVD drive (E:) did not show any files, nor would it download the game because of no files. Next I NETWORKED with my other computer which could download the game. I attempted to get the game from the other 'puter. Got the following message: error message "Fatal Error SViewport::Choose Depth Stencil Format: No AVAILABLE Depth-Stencil Format were found."
Can anyone help me on either problem. I know the software is good. I have MS 2000 XP professional. I have had problems downloading files from my other computer to the new one with same problem - drive shows no files.

Jimare the CD stroe copy or are they downloaded then burn to the CD?

If they are store copy do other CD work on the other CD drive?

If they are downloaded:

- Did you copy and paste them on the CD?

Are they ISO images like winarar archive or did you extract them like a FOLDER?

If yes: Copy and pasting doesnt nessarly mean they are on the CD just on a temp folder waiting to be burn:

If no:
- What program do you use to burn the CD?

Other options: Have you tried transfering the files through a network? When you transfer over a network they have to be copy and paste only not cut and paste. Are they the same OS? does it work on one computer or both computer?

Whats the video card and driver problem?Try the manufacturer's web site to see if this is a known error, if there is an update, etc.

If it is not a legal copy, though, I wouldn't bother.

:-? :-? I am not the smartest person when it comes to computers, but which 3d grahics card will support DirectX 9.0b 100%? We have Doom3 and do not have an appropriate graphics card. Many are listed as not compatible on the Doom3 box. So which grahics cards are left? I searched previous topics related to this, but those individuals had grahics cards that were on the not compatible list. Duh!

there is more to it than just the graphics card to have a good experience. I have a GeForce fX5200 and it works fine, but that computer has a lot of horsepower. if you don't have an AGP slot, that can make a difference too. Here are the game requirements:

I believe I have all the requirements other than the graphics card. There is space for it though, we just don't have one. I talked to Dell and they wanted to sell me one (of course), but I don't know which one to get. I WANT to purchase the right one the first time. I appreciate any suggestions you may have. The Celeron D is not a great gaming processor, but should work OK. You have 512 RAM, so that is ENOUGH memory. You do not apparenttly have an AGP slot so a PCI card that uses one of those supported chipsets is the only option. Since it only has a 250 watt power supply that cannot be upgraded a high power video card will overtax the system and perhaps make it unusable.

I suspect your best option will be an FX5200 PCI card with 128 meg RAM, although Dell likes ATI so hat's probably what they suggested. What specifically did they want to sell you? It may be a wise choice, all things considered, but maybe you could get it cheaper elsewhere.

It is amazing that some PEOPLE apparently want help, yet will not TAKE the suggestions OFFERED. It's not like we're asking them to disassemble a car! In these cases "Take it to a shop" is a much better answer.

I play quite a few games and have kids. So I have iso images of all my games on a SECONDARY hard drive and use drive emulators. I had been using Daemon Tools but I think it is what is CAUSING my pc problem of late. What other good drive emulators are out there that you can play safe disk 4 protected games in or stopdisc 7 games in?

Disclaimer: I am not pirateing games or asking for help to I just hate scratched cds so I prefer not to use my original discs. Kids and cds and dvds don't mix.I have no PROBLEMS with Daemon (3 YEARS now I guess) and I too do not play pirated games. Any more. I think my problem may have been a bad dvd drive seems to be working since unhooking it.Alcohol 120% comes with a virtual drive.
