Solve : Graphics problems?

Answer»

So recently I've tried playing SWTOR but my computer couldn't run it WELL, causing my computer to freeze. So i forced shut down and now my computer looks as if I've tabbed out of a game permanently. Sorry that I'm not much help, but everything is spaced out and its winding me up.If you have Windows XP disc you can perform a repair installation. Killing a system mid process can LEAD to corruption some times. what do you mean mid-process? Have you tried adjusting the resolution of your DESKTOP?

Initially it looks exactly like you tabbed out of a game, the resolution used for SWTOR is likely different then your normal resolution.

So with the crash and RESET, it may have kept the resolution from the game.

Solve : A laptop is equipped with Intel Celeron??

Answer»

From the beginning of Pentium, Intel has developed Core, Centrino and now P4. They are the CPUs of main STREAM but cost-effective. Currently Intel developed Celeron for LOW PRICE market.

I saw a laptop, it’s FEATURE:
OS: WINDOWS 8 system,
CPU: Intel Celeron
CPU Frequency: 1.8GHZ
Core: Dual-Core
RAM: 2GB DDR3

Would that be blocked when working? Anybody knows the limitation of Celeron CPU?

Solve : Theme Hospital - Problem With Displaying Videos?

Answer»

Having a rather annoying problem with the game Theme Hospital.

The videos, such as the logo/intro movie and the one used for the MENU screen (the weird little professor guy) don't show when I run the game. I can hear them, but there's no picture. The login screen shows as expected, plus that weirdly stretched gameplay video works just fine. It's only the intro and menu videos that don't work right, the latter making it impossible to navigate into the game itself.

Additional error nonsense:
Trying to run the DOS version of the game results in some strange errors with DOS/4GW. No idea if this could be connected to the problems with the Windows version, or if I've just not configured DOS right... which is no doubt a larger issue in itself.
If this could be relevant, I'll make note of it.

The facts:
I'm using an old CD budget version of the game, EA's Collector series. My monitor is a 21 inch CRT and I'm running windows Win 98se with the system I'm trying to play on. All the hardware is pretty much to the spec of a gaming machine from the end of the Win9x era: 2 x 256 ram, Pentium 4, Sound Blaster Live! and APG GeForce 5900 Ultra.

Troubleshooting so far:
Thought it might be a resolution issue of some KIND. To test if this monitor could display all the wacky resolutions of older games, I installed Quake and ran through all the settings. Everything worked in some form or another, so unless Theme Hospital runs its videos at some custom res, I'm not sure that's the issue. And if it was, then surely there would be more information on it AVAILABLE.
Looked into the video format, thinking there might be a codex problem, but Smacker seems self contained.

So far, the only other game that has had the same problem is Claw (who remembers that game?). Same issue sort of issue when trying to run the videos in that game: Sound, but no picture.

The thing that I can see connecting the two is that they use the old .smk format. Yet other games I've tried have no problems with the format.

Any ideas what could be going on here?

Tried searching online for info on this issue, but the web has since been swamped by people asking how to run the game on XP or higher operating systems, and all the old help pages are long gone.

Hoping to try and fix this without resorting to nuking the whole operating system and STARTING over in the off chance that some tiny detail I missed somewhere is upsetting the whole thing.

And the real punchline is the game works just fine in DOSbox, but it feels like giving up to EMULATE it on a system I built solely for running old games. Hi,

Are you still trying to get this working? I've never had any problems with the DOS version. It's the Windows version that gives me problems .

You say you get strange DOS/4GW errors? What do these errors say? It's possible you're running out of conventional and/or extended memory. What are the contents of your autoexec.bat and config.sys files?

And if you have enough hard disk space, you may want to copy all the files that are accessed from the CD (I believe this includes some of the video files) to your Theme Hospital directory on your hard drive, and then change the path in the config file (in the Theme Hospital directory. You can't miss it! ) to the Theme Hospital directory on your hard drive. That may help if it's being caused by CD access problems.Yeah, I'm still trying fighting the game every now and then.

Still no video in the Windows version.
For the DOS version, I can get it to run if I don't set up the sound. That said, I've also done some other tinkering with the Autoexec and Config files, which may or may not have helped get it running.

Still, no sound has worked with a few troublesome games so far, which leads me to believe that the soundcard is probably up to no good.
Shocking! A soundcard screwing everything up? Who has ever heard of such a thing!?

I'm not sure what I should do about it. I'm guessing it's wonky emulation? I've no idea if there are native drivers for the SoundBlaster Live series.

Will investigate further. For the video in the Windows version, try running dxdiag and see what that says.

For the DOS version, what sound settings are you using and what sound drivers do you have installed in Windows? What are your SB16 emulation settings and do you have any IRQ or DMA conflicts? Have you tried running the game in DOS mode, outside of Windows?

Nit sure what you mean by native SB Live! drivers. If you mean for DOS games then no, emulation is the only way to get sound working.

And you have 512MB RAM right? I think Windows 98 might not like too much RAM, but can't be sure as I've never run Windows 98 on a system with that much RAM. It's possible you have so much XMS available it's confusing the game.

Solve : Text Glitches in Old DOS games?

Answer»

I'm running a Windows 98 SE system for playing older games, but finding a few OLD DOS titles are giving me glitched out text.

This is what SimCity looked like at the menu screen:

Might be a per-game THING, but I get the sense it's indicative of a larger PROBLEM as I've seen the same problem at least twice now, COINCIDENTALLY in the the DOS version of SimCity 2000.

Any ideas what might be going on?They are DOS games, you should run them under Pure DOS. (Start->Shut Down, Restart in MS-DOS Mode)

EDIT: the reason they don't work when running under Windows is because they redefine the character set used for text mode, and that doesn't work when running under Windows. What type of glitch is itAs BC stated; The glitch is caused by this:

I've actually had this problem under a pure DOS environment as well. Hooked the system up to an old hard drive and did a full MS DOS 6.22 install from the ground up and the games still threw a fit.

It's odd and, under further inspection, seems to effect only old Maxis installers?

Weird and annoying, but not exactly a massive problem with the system.
Still, I can only wonder what might be the issue. It's probably something dumb like whatever clever text Maxis was trying to pull, it doesn't sit right with some component somewhere within my PC.
As it's been said, it's no doubt my fault for going a little too modern with the hardware for a dedicated 90s gaming system.

But, THANKFULLY, I found the windows version of Simcity and Simcity 2000, so disaster (partially) adverted!

Thanks for your input, everyone.

Solve : Frozen Throne!?

Answer»

Give me some rare DOTA techniques and tips like how to kill roshan with low LEVEL, etc.....in order to win games. Thinking that Google will be your best bet with this.... also starting a post with PLEASE vs just GIVE ME might go across as not being demanding Depending on how low of level you are referring to, you MAY be needing a cheat for the game, that is if mathematically & strategically there is no probable way of a lowbie dodging damage and TAKING down a specific monster etc to give a god mode ability or insane damage output that is beyond what a normal character would have at the low level. There are some DIFFERENT ways to kill roshan with low level. Some single heroes cab finish by themselves. For example, Troll WARLORD with his Ult and Ursa Warrior with a Vladmir's Offering.
If fighting roshan with 5 heroes in level one, afford harms in turn until roshan die. But you might analyse your team's attacking ability.

Asides from Ursa, some of the better heroes for soloing Roshan from levels 6-10 are:

Enigma: Using Eidolons and a Medallion of Courage. You may also need a Soul Ring to keep your mana pool up. The idea here is to cast cast Medallion on him to reduce his armor to greatly increase your Eidolons' DPS. As MadCom mentions below, Medallion doesn't proc Roshan's spell shield so you don't have to worry about him blocking it.

Venomancer: Using Plague Wards. Create a wall of wards between you and Roshan and you should be able to right click him to death.

Lycan: Using his wolves and a Vladimir's Offering. Shift aggro appropriately to tank damage.

Lone Druid: Using his bear and a Vladimir's Offering. Shift aggro appropriately to tank damage.

Troll Warlord: With points into Fervor and Battle Trance and either Vladimir's Offering or a Helm of the Dominator. It's also recommended you switch into melee form for faster attack speed, health, and damage (also, Vladimir's Offering wouldn't work if you were in ranged form anyways).

Solve : ferrari virtual race not running?

Answer»

i installed a game ferrari virtual race but it not running, a msg appeared on desktop "graphics adapter does not support minimum requirement ". what is it means? and how can i solve this probelmSounds like the GPU is too weak to play the game. What do you have for a computer make/model and video card if added if a desktop? If a CUSTOM build please supply all specs. If its a laptop make/model is plenty of info.my pc is custom build

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]So your running this system without a BETTER video card ( GPU ), and running on INTEGRATED Video. The motherboard you have that I found through the one screenshot you provided with specs has a PCIE 16x slot. You could probably install a $30 video card to squeek by with that game.

Your Motherboard Link:

Suggested Cheap Video Card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130602

Note: If you want to RUN more advanced games, you may want to get an even more powerful video card, however power supply wattage would be in question if you buy a high end video card.

One problem you might also be facing with this game is that this game is old and was created to work on as little processing power as a Pentium 4. The GPU detection routine might look at a more modern GPU as unknown and claim that it doesnt meet the requirements. Usually with the GeForce GPU's though GPU detection type of games will detect that its nVidia and be happy with it.

What is the most advanced game or video application you will use this for btw?

I've tried installing new Nvidia Drivers, Changed Dx11 to Dx9, Experimented with the video settings but I still get this glitch

I have a Gainward GTX 570

Please Help Since a screenshot cant FLICKER to see what you are seeing, I can only state from prior video card issues that I have experienced what I think you may be seeing.

Is this HAPPENING in any other games or just this one?

Some games release bug fix patches, have you checked to see if there are any bug fix patches for this game and are you fully patched up?

I had an issue with a game called Dragon Age 2 with a flickering with GeForce GT 430 and patch v1.04 corrected this. Darkly shaded areas of the game would occasionally flicker white and back to DARK shaded. This didnt happen when standing still in game, but only when moving around such as turning or running towards a dark shaded area. The flickering happened more frequently when turning left or right, but patch 1.04 fixed this game. All other games worked fine with the video card and latest nVidia drivers for the GT 430. For the fact that the PROBLEM was only with this one game, I KNEW that it was just something with this one game and not video card since all other games had no problems.

Solve : Hardware poor performance or just lag??

Answer»

Soooo...... i bought battlefield 4,it's an exelent game realy fun to play, but sometimes i get brakes,LIKE random brakes where the game just stop for half a second or something nad it has realy destroyied some parts of the game, i have a i7 3770,gtx 660 and 8gbram 1600, my temperature is around 50 degrees cº,i can run in ultra or high prety good whit no fps problems,so my question is: is my internet bad or is it something whit my hardware, and how can i fix it?
Hope to see some AWNSERS soon and sorry for the bad ENGLISH =/.Also i forgot to say that i have windowns 8.1 64 bit.Hello and good day sir jackbet, i'm just a beginner, but from my experience, did you check your system for virus/malware/adware/spyware infection? is your battlefield game installed properly? if your GPU is in 50 degress then it's ok, but if your processor is in that temp, i think there is something wrong with your cooling for processor. Are you playing a multiplayer or single player?

I am pretty sure you have good specs. Try Unparking your CPU, from what I've heard it solves the lagg spikes on most PCs in BF4. If that still doesn't work Try switching BF4 renderer from Direct X to Mantle.Quote from: lunu1997 on May 10, 2014, 02:16:33 AM

CPU is more than adequate, being one of the best out there...Mantle rendering also won't work as OP doesn't have an AMD card.

We've somewhat resurrected an old thread here, if you're still around OP I would ask what resolution you're running, and whether you get the same freezes in single player mode.

Solve : Hooking up joysticks?

Answer»

Not sure if anyone has tried this but thought I would ask for some advice. I want to know if it is possible to splice a 49 point joystick into a ps3 controller to make an analog arcade pad to use on my ps3. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I think the arcade sticks you buy on eBay are 8 point and I would LIKE analog.Yes it can be done.... But you would have to be good with soldering up the interface board, math, and electronics.

The biggest thing to know is that the 8 point resolution of controls will still be in effect with a 49 point controller to the PS3. So in essence, there will be no control gain making direct connections where you bind multiple points to a singe x,y vector.

The only way to get the 49 points and have it truely functional for 49 points of controls would be if you had a board that interfaced between the joystick and the PS3 and for example depending on the point that is in use create a pulsed vector direction of the joystick, where you have electronics that PULSE 2 of 8 points with a combination of PULSES of the two points to give you a linear vector that is normally between the 2 points of the 8 point joystick and based on the frequency of each points pulse you can create vectors/points that are in between the limited points that the PS3 normally can register.

To make this easier visually and mathematically to explain here is the following:

Suppose this joystick is a 16 point and normally PS3 uses an 8 point. This means that there are 2 points for every point that the PS3 can sense.

If you have graph paper this is easier to explain... however any regular sheet of paper works as well. You draw an X on the paper say 1 inch or larger point to point. Now place a + symbol ( cross hair ) center to that X you end up with 8 points giving you the following directions.

Left, Left UP, UP, Right UP, Right, Right Down, Down, Left Down

Now this is how the PS3 controller is for resolution in the vector directions that you can go.

Now say you want to have 16 points, you essentially are adding additional linear vectors of direction of travel to the video game ( USUALLY flight controls ) than the PS3 can handle, although there is a way to create this additional resolution through a series of pulses.

Now lefts focus on the upper left quadrant. Here normally you have Left, Left UP, and UP for the 3 vector directions that the PS3 understands. However if you wiggle your 8 point joystick in alternation between points you can essentially travel in an offset vector that isnt there if you simply hold the stick still to the upper left corner.

So to gain the additional points, you would need a circuit that read in these additional points from the 49 point controller and basically alternates pulses between the points that are available to travel in a linear vector direction that normally is not available to an 8 point controller unless your use to wiggling the joystick quickly in a direction to get this offset vector between the 2 points of the 8 point controller.

Ok getting back to the simplicity of a 16 point controller now...

A 16 point controller will place 5 points of the 16 points into a quadrant of the 4 quadrants ( with 2 of these 5 points shared with their neighboring quadrants ) The 2 shared are LEFT and UP, with the 3 in between being 2 additional vectors to the already existing LEFT UP. These 5 points are 5 available vectors where normally you had 3, so if you make additional X's through the 8 point all intersecting at the center to now have 8 lines intersecting at the center creating 16 vectors out from the center point.

This will give you in this top left quadrant the linear vector paths of ( LEFT, LEFT 25% UP, LEFT 50% UP, LEFT 75% UP, and UP ) ... or even easier to state on the 90 degree quadrants vectors going out at the following degrees ( 0, 22.5, 45, 67.5, and 90 )

If looking at all vectors of travel with a 16 point you would have the following vectors of travel ( every 22.5 degrees all the way around 360 degres of ( 0, 22.5, 45, 67.5, 90, 112.5, 135, 157.5, 180, 202.5, 225, 247.5, 270, 292.5, 315, 337.5, 360 ) * Note the reason why there are 17 and not 16 points here is because 360 is essentially back to 0, so the bold degrees are a 16 point controller.

Now for the fun part the pulsing of the controls of the 3 original vectors to now have 6 vectors within the same 90 degree quadrant of directional controls.

To make it easier to explain I am going to reference to the degrees within this quadrant than ( Left 25% up ) etc.

Now to go in the newly added 22.5 degree direction in this upper left quadrant you need an even combination of 0 and 45 degree pulses timed in alternation ( lets say 4 hz ) doesnt need to be fast. This means that in 1 second the PS3 is given ( 0, 45, 0, 45 ) and so the vector of travel will follow the average which is the dead center of 0 and 45 degrees which is 22.5 degrees. A chip such as the 555 timer would work perfect for this + addition of a potentiometer to adjust the frequency at which the pulses are given for a more smooth control if the controled linear path seems like your following a saw tooth at 22.5 degrees that is jumpy.

The same goes for the 67.5 degree vector that you would be creating with alternation between 45 and 90 degrees at the same ( 4 hz ) ( 45, 90, 45, 90 ) per second control signal that is given to the PS3.

Now comes the even more fun part. For up to 49 points you would have to determine if you really need up to 49 points and then come up with pulse combinations between your 3 vectors of 0, 45, and 90 that the PS3 can sense electronically so that say you wanted 56.25 degree, 67.5 degree, and 78.75 degree linear held vectors of travel between 45 and 90 the 2 of the 3 vectors in this quadrant that the PS3 can understand signals from, you would need to have a circuit that gave the PS3 between the 45 and 90 degree points/vectors that it can register say ( 45, 45, 90, 45, 45, 90, 45, 45, 90 ) to get your 56.25 degree vector of linear travel and ( 45, 90, 90, 45, 90, 90, 45, 90, 90 ) to get your 78.75 degree linear vector path of travel.

The math and the electronics only get even more complicated as you add more points for the circuit to create these extra vectors to the PS3's limited vector/point sense.

Personally I would not take on such a project unless I was really bored or really wanted a challenge. Its a royal pain! I use to work with robotics and making alternate vectors of travel when limited through alternation of sensory controls and programs that were running on a Basic Stamp Chip with radio controls to joy sticks etc. I did this for 2 years and then life got busy and I had to let someone else be the electronics coach for the High Schools Robotics Team ... More info here on US First Robotics. I was involved in 1997 and 1998 with assisting a local high school to getting their robot to work for the competitions while I was also working for Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation : http://www.usfirst.org/ And here is the track record for the team that I was an electronics coach with in 97 and 98 http://www.usfirst.org/whats-going-on/team/211433?ProgramCode=FRC We got "Best Play of the Day, Outstanding Defense, and Xerox Creativity Awards."

Fortunately we had 8 point controllers and I made it 16 point with the same electronic pulse alterations that you seen above but instead of registering a single additional point as implementing a 16 point to an 8 point control board, I took the 2 points and used the average between them to make the extra vectors of travel in a microswitch type of joystick in which you can have 45 and 90 degree microswitches held down at the same time and so that would give you the 67.5 degree vector of travel for higher precision. And that was enough work. Shooting for 49 is a big number of higher control resolution than I would take on unless I was designing this controller for PS3 or an interface box that plugs in between the PS3 and this controller to allow for the higher precision of joystick controls for games.

We needed the extra precision for the joystick control because the robots had to perform a task and had to perform it as well as possible against other robots from all around the USA of other various designs. Once the high school kids practiced with the higher precision controls the movement of robotic arms etc was more smooth and not go X, XY, Y looking. I got a pat on the back from another team when they asked me how I got the controls to smooth out. I shared my schematic with them because they also agreed to share some stuff that we wanted to know with their design which helped both of us the following year when I saw they had used this for higher precision controls.

Solve : Video game Villians who deserve thier own game.?

Answer»

We all have them whether we love them or despise them, video game villains. What video game villain deserves their own game?Captain LeChuck from the Monkey Island Series and koopa king! The Villian that is the leader of the Pac Man Ghosts that many people are unaware of unless they use to watch the old cartoons in the early 1980s like myself named Mezmeron.

http://pacman.wikia.com/wiki/Mezmeron

Villians link here is pretty much same info as wiki: http://villains.wikia.com/wiki/Mezmeron

Idea for a game would be 1 to 2 players:

Player #1 controls Pac Man who has to get all the pac pellets to clear board.

Player #2 ( or computer AI script if only single player ) controls Mezmeron who tells the ghosts where to go.
- The ghosts go there and then loop back for next instruction, but can not get the next instruction until back at the central base.

For PC it can be WASD or arrow key or mouse controls for Pac Man. While for Mezmeron it can be a simple point to highlight/outline ghost to interact with and they can click anywhere on the playing field to send the selected ghost. The ghost will then select randomly a path to get to that position which usually is the shortest path of travel to get to the selected position. OR Player #2 can specify specifically the path for the ghost to travel by holding the mouse left-click down and a yellow line appears and you can select the path through the maze for the ghost to travel.
*Note the ability to select the specific path can have its advantages, however it takes longer to give the ghost this instruction by having to manually specify the path of travel, meanwhile pac-man is able to go crazy eating up pac pellets.

To stick with the proper storyline to Mezmeron:

Quote

Mezmeron SEEMS to NEVER want to do anything himself; his main role in the series is to give orders to the Ghost Monsters then verbally & physically abuse them when they fail or do something wrong, which happens a lot. Even though he's able bodied and quite powerful and resourceful, he's never really directly antagonized the Pac-People himself. He just keeps sending the Ghost Monsters out on one doomed to fail mission after another.

But this whole concept could turn into a project much larger if there was a virtual Pac-Land and millions of players on multiple realms decide if they are of Pac Race or Human ( Mezmeronians ), and the resources of the land are required to create/resurrect the dead into ghost minions and so you could have a World of Pac-Land MMORPG type game, but this would be going very overboard. The limited resource concept could allow for the Pac's or the Mermeronians to conquer and then the land resets. Players can have stats in how many win/loss they were involved with and be listed on a player board for the entire world to view etc. Similar to the old arcades in which you got to enter your initials for others to see the player with the highest score. But it would be high scores for the servers/realms, and then the ultimate highest score among all servers where the person with the highest from all servers/realms is #1 and then the next highest #2 and #3 etc. BUT as mathematics would have it eventually people would have matching scores and so you would need to have a score LIST in which the first person to achieve it is first on this list and then the next to achieve it is next and so on. Then if the person in #2's list gets a #1 score, their name MOVES from the #2 listing to the bottom of the #1 listing.

Solve : Download issues with STEAM?

Answer»

So recently Steam had a sale for the Star Wars Collection and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to grab so many awesome SW games that I could easily access and enjoy. Unfortunately Shortly after the PURCHASE, I began the download of KOTOR steam began to display ODD download issues. Although KOTOR completed its download and was playable, it downloaded in spurts and constantly would hang at progressive percentages. The apparent solution at the time was to pause and then resume the download in rapid succession. This did work to complete that download correctly, however I felt like playing Empire at War as well, so I began its download right after the installation of KOTOR. The download of EaW would not complete regardless of how many times I paused and resumed it. At that time I decided that it was likely just the Steam servers where at high capacity or overloaded due to the popularity of the SW pack, so I held off on completing the download until the following MONDAY and continued to play KOTOR. On Monday I woke up bright and early and began the download of EaW. But this time it stalled at 20% and would move no further. I proceeded to delete the local game content and try the download again, only this time it would hang at 99%. I thought again that maybe it was the same possible cause of the server being maxed so I tried an experiment. I deleted local content for Shogun: Total War and tried to download the game again. The results where the same. I would hang at several percentages and finally hang at 99%. I began to Google a solution and found numerous posts by individuals with the same or similar issues. The list of solutions was quite extensive as well. Everything from clicking the pause and resume download button rapidly to re-installing Windows. I attempted every possible solution that Steam has on its support site to no avail. I submitted a ticked to Steam support and thus far haven't received a response. I have done literally everything listed on the Steam support site including re-installing Windows. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I run Windows 7 service pack 1.

Thanks in advance for your responses! What do you have for internet connection? Is the internet connection flawless or do you have dropped packets etc?

I would open command SHELL typing CMD and enter at Start -> Search Programs and Files

Then enter PING www.google.com -t

Watch the latency ( ms ) and for connection drop outs. If you have dropped pings then you have internet connection issues or if over wireless a weak signal or a signal that is conflicting with another of the same wireless channel.I tried this and it seemed pretty consistent holding at 30ms +/- 4ms.Also this is a hard connection directly from the modem.Quote

For the fact that you reinstalled Windows 7 SP1 clean, reinstalled Steam client, and the problem is the same as before, my thoughts are that you may have to wait for Steam to get back to you on your ticket.

Is this computer one that you custom built or one that was purchased with a make/model #? Please provide system specs if custom built and if a purchased make/model computer please share the make/model and any upgrades you have added to it?

My thoughts right now is that something may be conflicting with steam locally if its all games no matter of title having the same issue. If it was just 1 or 2 games from a specific vendor then there may be just a steam side issue where they have bugs. But if all games have this issue then its probably something in relation to your specific system.

Unfortunately I dont own a license to any of those games on steam. I have about 12 games that I bought a license to play and only 1 of them was a problem which was Poker Night 2 which would crash on loading. I was able to solve this issue finally after following a thread that someone had on google that suggested clearing a Steam Client Cache and deleting the game from the games folder and then downloading it all over again and installing to play again etc.You may have already tried this, but have you tried changing your Steam download server? I forgot the idea of clearing steam cache and stuff. Doing it right now. for the TS: from my experience in steam, i am a beginner by the way, as suggested by sir dave, using cmd to ping different website to monitor your network traffic would be the best action to do as of now. Solve : Facebook games?

Wondering if anyone else ran into this prob. I can't VIEW the WHOLE screen to be able to play Mafia Wars on facebook with Mozilla Firefox. Anyone know of a FIX for this?Usually if you right-click on the game window there is an option to load this in its own window in the menu and you can then MAXIMIZE it to fit the DISPLAY without the ads etc choking up the viewing space of gameplay.

Yes i did install the latest drivers of my card, motherboard cpu ETC....
Thank you for your respond.Sounds like a game bug with latest driver maybe.

Quote
It's a driver issue with 320.00. I got it with that driver and I have just resolved another thread where a guy had exactly the same problem.

Go back to 314.22 and the problems should go away.

Do you have a copy of an OLDER driver to use, such as one that is on the CD that came with video card to test etc?

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1670302/bf3-graphics-issues.htmlNo it did not help i deleted all my nvidia drivers and downloaded an older driver but that didn't help, i've also tried even older ones but i still have the same problem.
Another crazy thing is that i tried to record it with fraps but with fraps i can see the game proper but on my screen i see the same problem again.I wonder if your monitor display itself is acting up... Do you have another display to swap this one out with to test?
Yes i tried on on my other monitor but nothing has changed.I assume you have uninstalled and reinstalled clean for this game?

Other than that only other option to me seems to try a different resolution with the game to see if it doesnt wig out at a lower setting maybe.

Also some video cards share system RAM with onboard Video Card RAM. So a memtest86 might be worth it, although I very much doubt you have a memory stick that is acting up with the video cards memory given that its just this one game.

The Last thing you will want to ever have to do is replace the video card to satisfy one game that acts up when all others are fine. Given the hits on google for issues similar to your own, I'd say its something with the game itself.Thank you for your help nothing did work i also asked on other forums but nothing solved my problem.
I formatted my C drive and cleaned then installed windows 8.1 again and now everything is working again.
Strange but i think i had some corrupted driver files in my C drive without even knowing it so the best WAY was formatting my C drive.
Anyway thank you for your help.Glad you have it working now with no problems. Although curious as to if just uninstalling and reinstalling this specific game vs a full wipe of the hard drive and reinstallation of OS and Games would have fixed it, since other games were running fine. I have run into issues before with a specific game and uninstalling just that game and reinstalling clean fixed it for me. Although I did have a long time ago an issue with GTA Vice City and a Pentium III 850Mhz computer with 256MB RAM and GeForce 4 MX440 64MB PCI video card and the problem with it starting a cartwheel and then dumping me back to desktop of Windows XP and this was only fixed by a reinstall of the OS and other games were fine on it.

Solve : Games Skipping??

Answer»

Hi there,
I'm sort of an intellectual lightweight when it comes to hardware and software, but here goes.
There's been an ISSUE with my machine lately, and I don't really KNOW what the solution is. When I play CERTAIN games, almost always ones that are 3D in nature, there is a weird stuttering that occurs when the camera is turned, or, in the case of FPS's, my character moves forward. It's not a framerate issue, I don't think. I know what low FPS looks like and this isn't it. Also, it seems purely tied to movement. The problem is most poignant in games like Skyrim, Batman: Arkham City, Fallout: 3 & New Vegas, Portal 2, Total War: Shogun 2, and Mass Effect 2, but there are certainly other instances.
This part's really weird: I tried recording a clip of Arkham City exhibiting this symptom with fraps, but on the recording, all of the shaking and stuttering is absent. I don't know what's up.
I'll post here what I think are my 'computer specs'. I hope this gives a clue as to what could be going on.
Thanks for taking the time to read. I really appreciate it.

you can get them in one game...

and what's wrong it a emulator?NOTHING, its just questionable where you got the ROMs how is it questionable...
I'm running a pirate VERSION of windows in this PC, and my laptop.... Visual Studio 98, 2005, 2008, office 2003... etc etc...

whats a few ROMs?

I do own a legal version of XP, but I gave up and used my pirate copy. The only questionable thing would be .... do you have the legal purchased copy of the software. Else nobody would know or care, nor do anybody need to know unless it's apparent.

But why be a win XP pirate when you already have a legal version of XP? can't be bothered to phone for activation. Not sure why it wouldn't activate.

Besides, as far as WGA is concerned, I'm legit. That's good enough for me!Quote from: BC_Programmer on June 17, 2009, 11:29:20 AM

And you also have a twin sister! Iwas a pirate once. but I never was fond of beards. Also stale biscuits and whiskey got old real fast. Not to mention that bloody captains shoulder was covered in bird CRAP because of that damned parrot. I remember this one time, we hijacked a barge carrying 25 tons of Skippy peanut butter. ahh, the good old days.Hopefully you disposed of those pirate clothes(I must imagine they stink up your quarters from the Parrot crap) Quote from: BC_Programmer on May 24, 2009, 08:53:13 AM

As far as FF games, I've never really been fond of them, but I have to say that Chrono trigger is one of the greatest SNES games. I've HEARD people say it's the "best game ever"- I don't go THAT far.

i have heard that also quite many times, but i think i agree. It is really great game indeed. Love the plot, music and characters. Retro is IN!Quote from: haiku on March 17, 2014, 08:34:54 AM

an without running image through daemon utility

Daemon tools emulates the analog audio cable...It doesn't show his status as guest on my phone, everything is in really big font, maybe I can update IE mobile when Win7 Mobile comes out. But whatever, I actually came across this while running search for the patch from phone an figured I'd try to help him out. As far as the CD Audio cable goes, maybe I said it wrong, but what I meant was, you don't NEED the CD Audio Cable at all for post Win9x OS's. He qualifies because he said WinXP. Running a Deamon utility only allowes you to run the game from an image instead of the CD, as LONG as you enable Secu-Rom in Deamon Options first. I ran it on both Win7 and WinXP with a CD and with the image just to test it, and it works fine without the CD Audio Cables on either drive.
Anyways, this was just supposed to be a quick answer, and hopefully there is some way to keep this up here because there is actually quite a few people asking this question, and very few answers, so I will keep my account active so when someone runs another search, the will see this and I can explain the fix and provide the patch.

only for programs that implement Digital CD Audio... DOS programs, and many older Win9x programs often used MCI, whose default sequencer seems to choose Analog rather then digital. Solve : Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings?

Hello there!
I've decided to install AOEII again on my new laptop that's running windows 7. Everything works alright, the MENU looks good and all but when I actually get into the game, some of the colors look bizarre.
The weird thing is that when I take a screenshot, the screenshot saves the colors it should be but actually it's different in game.

The picture on the left shows how an actualy screenshot looks LIKE but the one on the right side is how I see colors:
http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/9917/123123po.png

Any idea?
Thanks in advance! This is an issue with the "GENIE" Engine that AOE2 uses as well as AOE1. The games use 256 COLOUR palettes, but are unable to fully realize all the colours in the palette because Windows Explorer refuses to let it change some of the colours in the palette.

You can fix the colour issue if you terminate Explorer.exe before you run Age of Empires 1 or 2.Thanks but I figured it out as well.

This is the latest response from Customer Support:
Greetings,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. There are a few things that could be causing the problems you are describing. Please try the following steps to fix this (log into battle.net support page to use the links):

01. Be sure you have all the available updates from: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

02. Be sure you have the latest video, sound, network card, DirectX and motherboard drivers. More information on identifying your video and sound driver versions can be found at: www.blizzard.com/support/article/21137

Drivers should be available from the manufacturer's website for each individual component. Motherboard drivers will be available on your motherboard or system manufacturer's site. It is important that you follow all precautions given by your motherboard manufacturer when updating drivers or firmware. Links to manufacturers' web sites can be found at: www.blizzard.com/support/article/21124

03. Wipe your user interface (again if you had done so prior to performing steps one and two.) This time please also go into the DATA Directory and delete the CACHE folder you find there. Detailed Interface reset instructions can be found here: www.blizzard.com/support/article/20377. If you are using Curse Client or Wowmatrix, please uninstall it prior to doing these steps.

04. Latency can also caus this problem. Most such issues can be resolved by the steps found here: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/21010

If that does not resolve your issue, in order to troubleshoot this issue further for you, I will need to collect some diagnostic information about your computer and your game error files.

-Go to <http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/22660>, gather your DXDIAG and MSINFO and attach the txt file to your reply.

So the problem I am having as I reported to them is that every time I logon to my level 60 Paladin named Foxina on Steamwheedle Cartel my mana starts at 1000 and has to regenerate to 4400. In addition to this every time I take a portal, ship, hearth, or enter into a random DUNGEON upon the screen switching to the new area with my character in it my mana pool drops from 4400 to 1000 and has to take time to regenerate. This wasn't a problem at first as for by the time I got into combat as PVE play my mana pool would have reached the 4400 and so everything was fine... but the biggest issue is trying to heal a random group when everyone appears and the tank runs off and I only have 1000 mana to heal the group with. I shouldnt have to tell the group, hold on 10 seconds please while I drink or use a mana potion to bring it back to 100% at 4400 each time I enter a random.

Blizzards response seems like they dont know the exact cause, but they are suggesting its something at my end. Or, this was an automated scripted reponse that their system sent me and thats why it is as indirect to the real problem.

Initially I asked if this was a bug, and confirmed with others in game who have holy paladins that they dont have this issue. I then suggested to Blizzard that it must be something at their end such as the field in the database has a value that may be acting as a read only field so upon loging on, hearthing, taking portals or ships, or entering an instance the game client is requesting the last recorded mana pool value which is 1000. I told them that I have 3 computers and they all are experiencing this issue. Looked for a repair tool that use to be available and Blizzard removed it at some point. The last thing I did was delete the entire World of Warcraft game from 1 of the 3 systems and DOWNLOADED a new clean copy of the game client from Blizzard directly. Then launched the game clean without any addons and the problem remained.

*Anyone have any ideas of what it can be at my end when its 3 computers all showing same problem, and one of them has been reinstalled with WoW?

Here is the list of the 3 systems tested for this problem:

Computer #1

Biostar A960D+ AM3+ Motherboard
Athlon II x4 620 2.6Ghz AM3 95Watt CPU
Crucial 8 GB DDR3 1600 RAM
ATI Radeon HD5450 1GB DDR3 ( with latest drivers )
500GB SATA II HDD
40GB SATA II Corsair SSD
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium

Computer #2

Biostar MCP6PB M2+ AM2+ Motherboard
Athlon x2 4450B 2.3Ghz AM2 45 Watt CPU
Corsair XMS2 4GB RAM DDR2 800Mhz ( Win 7 32 bit 3GB )
ATI Radeon HD5450 512MB DDR2 ( with latest drivers )
500GB SATA II HDD
90GB OCZ Vertex 3 SATA III running as SATA II SSD
Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium

Computer #3

ASUS Motherboard Socket 775
Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz CPU
2GB DDR2 667Mhz Corsair
GeForce 9800GT 1GB DDR2 (with latest drivers)
160GB HDD
30GB OCZ SATA II SSD
Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium

*From these 3 systems there is nothing installed the same in common with all 3 other than Microsoft Security Essentials. Everything else is different between the group of 3 computers. So it cant be a driver issue since I have tested nVidia GeForce and AMD ATI graphics, tested against both AMD and Intel CPUs, tested against Windows 7 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit ( both of which are fully updated to latest security updates ), and I have no latency issues as a suggested cause by blizz response to ticket.

Also to mention this Paladin is the only caster with this issue. I have tested my RESTO Druid, and Shadow Priest and they have 100% mana through transitions in the game while this Paladin is the only character with this problem.

Any suggestions on what to test greatly appreciated.... One thing I am going to test tonight is to create another Paladin on this same realm to test apples to apples and point the finger back at it being a problem at Blizzards side if one Paladin doesnt have this issue and the other does have this issue. There will be a large level gap, but if there is a 75% mana loss to Paladins and its at my end, then this test character should also experience this same problem as Foxina has.

I've never played WoW, but from your description I can't see this being anything on your end causing the problem. Their response sounds like an automated reply to me.
You've tried multiple PCs and reinstalling the game - I don't see what else could be causing it.
The only thing I didn't see in your post, was when the issue started, and whether anything changed (either on your end, or in the game such as a patch) before the issue started. Thanks for looking this over and agreeing that it must not be something at my end. I got a response from a real person today and sharing it here so others who might have this issue who find it through google will know the fix.

There is a Bug in the game with a Glyph of Illumination that is causing this. So the problem is on Blizzards side!!!

For those who are unfamiliar with WoW, Glyphs add choices to character builds, some change values making some ability stronger, while taking away from another ability of lesser importance, some are purely beneficial such as dropping a cool down from 2 minutes to 1 minute for an ability to become available again, as well as there are minor Glyphs that when applied to your talent tree composition simply make you no longer require a material such as corpse dust to be able to create ghoul minions with your death knight, or instead of polymorphing everything into sheep as a mage, a minor glyph will polymorph the enemy into a turtle or penguin. The Turtle polymorph really confused me the one night in the game because I took a SHORTCUT through a narrow path in Stormwind and where there are always 3 rats spawned sniffing and moving around in this passage, I found 3 turtles instead. I did a /2 (Global Trade Channel chat command that all players in cities can read and answer to) and asked the trade channel if anyone knew why these 3 rats were turtles instead, and someone replied with a mage or group of mages with a minor glyph to polymorph as turtles did that for fun. I thought it was a bug in the game, but it was intentional!

Here is Blizzards response:

Greetings,

I am sorry to hear that you are having this issue. I had the same issue, it's a bugged glyph. It's the Glyph of Illumination. Basically it causes you to load in with the base mana, before counting in stats or any other bonuses. It's annoying, I know. My main is a Paladin. Remove the glyph and it should stop happening. Our devs are working on fixing it, but for the time being, just remove it. I do apologize for the inconvience and for any frustration that this may cause you. And believe me, I understand as it happend to me too.

I guess I will be removing this glyph that is causing improper mana calculations which reset to base bare minimum without other stats calculated in, upon every screen load of the game. Hopefully this will be resolved as soon as next Tuesdays Maintenance period/minor patch. That's pretty cool, nice response there from Blizzard. At least you know what's causing it now, and that confirms your earlier thoughts (and my own) that it couldn't have been something to do with your PC or connection, but rather a bug with the game or server.Quote from: Calum on June 07, 2013, 02:43:28 AM

Yea the blizzard support is really not all that useful at all.

Recently I had problems in hearthstone and their answers really seem to be CTRL+C CTRL+V.

Solve : Need Help with my game!!?

Answer»

Hi all
The other day I accidentally pressed some buttons on my keyboard while playing football manager and now it has like an internet boarder around it and it shouldn't have but I can't FIGURE out how to get rid of it can someone please help me it's so annoying because it's slowing the game down when I'm playing it as it keeps coming up not responding which it has never DONE until this boarder came up around the game I have tried maximising the screen by pressing the box but STILL it won't go AWAY many THANKS You may be able to right-click on the background of the game and tell it to open in a new window, this should launch the game clean to its own window. This might fix it. Otherwise try F11 key to maximize it and hide the browser.

Hello, a year ago I invested a large amount of money into a high powered desktop. It ran well for a few months.

If this wee my computer, I would break the problem into AREAS. I wound partition the hard drive and install a new copy of Window 7 on a new partition. Then I would install just the games of interest. And a bar AV program, like Microsoft essentials.

Then if the issue went away, I would think that it is not the hardware. I has to be something that changes the software settings.

That could take about three hours of work, depending on l various factors. But at least you would know it is not the hardware.

Eight core CPU is rare. What make and model is it?

It's there in the post, AMD FX-8120.

Levi, have you checked your temperatures at all? This kind of issue can be caused by several things, I would start by monitoring your temperatures to rule out any overheating. Core Temp and GPU-Z will check and log your CPU and GPU temperatures and, helpfully, SHOW the highest recorded temperature, so you can play till you have the issue, come out of the game, then check the program to see what temperatures were reached.

Did anything happen before this issue started, or did it seemingly begin out of the blue?greetings!

i built my tower 2 years ago now and have pretty close to what you have.... amd 8120 and a ati 6870.... what ive noticed that sometimes certain games dont run well with that many cores. so i disabled a few. to do so hit start search run then msconfig...

here read this:'

Solve : Text box appear while gaming?

Answer»

Hi there, I just started to post threads.

Recently while in-game, continuously pressing keyboard buttons to move/shoot etc., somehow a small text box appears to the top-left corner of the screen, it seems to be like a language box thing, and if the bar fills up it makes a small noise, and knowing I press THINGS constantly it makes LOTS of noise and makes me LAG a bit.

Any idea of how to disable/stop this? Some GAMES will open a console window, which is often in the top left, with a certain key. It's often the ` or ~ key, did you by any chance press this by accident?Nope, but the games I PLAY usually requires 'Alt' 'Shift' and 'Ctrl'Alt + Shift will open the language bar. You can disable the language bar if you don't need it so this doesn't happen.Alright, thanks so much. I 'think' it works now??
Anyways, I'll notify if there is this issue again. No problem, hope that resolves it for you

Solve : Tera Online & Tera Rising ... isn't this the same game?

Answer»

Isn't this Tera Online, the same game as Tera Rising which is free to download and play now? Was LOOKING at the daily deals on www.newegg.com and was like are they trying to trap people into buying a game for $15 which is now free for download and play?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832198095The reviews (and I) can tell the story:

Being a free to play game, there are many items and status perks you can buy in their online cash store.

This is a "founder" PACK, with character expansion slots, extra bank TABS, exclusive cash mounts, etc. It is basically a pack of virtual items you can buy for the free game in a fancy physical box.

Hope this helps you! Also the physical COPY installs much much faster, and the founder status is almost as good as a monthly membership, and the benefits are permanent. Thanks for the INFO on this

Solve : Poker Night 2 - Steam - Crash, only got it to work once after reboot?

Answer»

Bought Poker Night 2 on black friday special. After install game wouldnt run. Performed reboot and game ran. Then went to bed and woke up and wanted to play again. Computer was never shut down since last time it played ok. This time game crashes same as it did after first install. Ok lets try a reboot since that fixed it before. After reboot game still wont run. I get black screen with Loading ... and the dots after loading show 1 dot then 2 dots then 3 dots and then back to 1, 2, 3 dots and then crash.

Tried setting game to run as administrator as well as Windows XP SP3 mode, as well as Vista mode and still crashing. Also saw someone online state about unchecking community in properties of steam client for this game, and that also didnt FIX it.

Anyone have this game who has solved the problem or seen a solution that works?

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]Dug further into this last night. People are reporting this problem is caused by a bunch of different causes such as USB Controllers, keyboards, mice etc, as well as some reported having the problem with one computer and not another and the system that this ran on with no problems was Intel and the system that they had problems on was AMD. Digging further into the Intel / AMD situation related to this, the Intel system was running GeForce video card while the AMD system was using AMD HD 4000 series GPU.

The bugfix for USB devices that cause this game to fail to load is to disconnect the USB device before launch of the game and then reconnect after the game is launched. My keyboard and mouse are both PS2 type and USB ports are not populated with anything to remove.

Many people complaining about this game with issues and no bug fix from the maker of the software. Someone stated that they are not putting effort into fixing Poker Night 2 because they are already developing Poker Night 2 and cant waste the resources on fixing 2.

My system is running the AMD Radeon HD 5450 Video Card, which it has no problems playing other games on. I also have the latest drivers for the videocard. I have an older GeForce 8400GS video card that I could install into this system to see if it is GPU/Driver related. I also just made a deal with my younger brother to buy his previous videocard a GeForce GTX 260 with 896MB for only $40, as for he upgraded to a $350 video card to his Core i7 system and is selling it cheap. So if it is Graphics Card AMD Drivers related, and works fine on nVidia Card and Drivers then, the long term solution will be fixed through the upgrade to the GeForce GTX 260.

Now I just need to verify that my SYSTEMS power demands with the GeForce GTX 260 is ok for a 460watt PSU.

I will post back here with results of the video card GPU brand and driver swap with this game to see if it fixes it permanently or not.

Current specs of this system:

Biostar MCP6PB M2+
Athlon X2 4450B 2.3Ghz socket AM2
4GB DDR2 800Mhz Corsair XMS2
ASUS ATI Radeon HD 5450 512MB
Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium ( *3GB memory used of 4GB due to 32-bit limitation that I havent gotten around to the 64-bit upgrade yet of this system.)

This game was fun to play when it ran for the first time after the installation and reboot of the system in which the game was launched from a fresh system reboot state. But since then it wont load without the same crash error as seen in the screenshot. So it is very strange that the system did run the game ok that one time and ran well, but since then it wont run without the same crash results and nothing new was installed as well as no changes at all to the system to break its compatibility with the game.Quote

Now I just need to verify that my systems power demands with the GeForce GTX 260 is ok for a 460watt PSU.

What make & model PSU do you have?
A decent 460W will be fine with a GTX 260 and your system.Cooler Master Elite 460watt is what I am using. This is the first power supply I have ever had from that brand and it seems to be working ok. Had it for about 17 months now with no problems. Normally I have bought Thermaltake brand PSU's, but I ended up getting this one for like $24.99 on a sale with like an instant $15 off 18 months ago because I had their brand heatsinks before and they worked ok and fans didnt crap out on them, so I figured with 4 out of 5 eggs for this that it was worth a try and save some money vs buying Thermaltake for $40+

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171046

*Also I have an update to the original game issue... I installed steam client to my other gaming build which is running Windows 7 64 bit on somewhat similar hardware, and same GPU and it ran flawless for about a day, then same problem struck the day after.

Newer Build Hardware:

Biostar A960D+ AM3+ Motherboard
Athlon II x4 620 2.6Ghz
Crucial Ballistix 8GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5450 with 1GB RAM Video Card
Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium on 500GB SATA II HDD

So since this worked for hours the day prior, I figured I would uninstall the game and reinstall the game suspecting corruption maybe the cause and the game is like a 650MB download which is fast.

Uninstalled the game and reinstalled the game and it works again.

hmm.... so the install is getting corrupt somehow... So I copied the game folder to another location and when it messes up again I will drop a clean copy of itself overtop if the games location and see if this fixes it. If it is the fix to some sort of corruption then I will just CREATE a quick batch file that will repopulate the games location with the clean files from the known good game state files and use that as the quick fix since OBVIOUSLY this is a file corruption problem from the fact that uninstalling the game that crashes repeatedly and reinstalling it fixes the game for a short while.

No where on Google SEARCHES for this have I found anyone pointing the finger to a game file corruption, although someone touched on clearing the AppCache folder in Steam Client which causes all sorts of other problems so vs wiping out that folder and creating a new folder with thet AppCache folder name that was empty, I copied the AppCache folder to another location and then created an empty folder with same name and it caused a whole different crash result. So I placed the AppCache folder and its contents back to get back to the original error, and then uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and surprise the game now works. Closed game, and relaunched it about 5 times just to see if I could get it to break and it didnt break yet. Will give it a day or two and see if the problem reappears as it has and then try the method of copying prior known good game state data overtop of the suspected corrupt install.

Everyone on Google searches seem to be pointing to it having to be run as backwards compatibility as Win 95, WinXP, Win Vista etc on Windows 7 for both 32 and 64 bit versions, as well as the checkbox to run as administrator, as well as changing properties within Steam to get it to work that have no effect on the issue.

I have been able to get the game to run with no problems when not going through this process of backwards compatibility and run as admin etc, and this game will not launch if run on anything less than Windows XP mode under Windows 7 32 or 64 bit as tested on 2 different computers.

As to why the corruption is happening, I have yet to find the file that is the culprit, but I may be able to find it by looking for files that have different date/time stamp between the game install and the copied known good install files. Then I can single out a filename maybe that has some sort of save game state etc that is written to on the closing of the game that may be getting corrupt. Then once I know what file is getting corrupt, instead of copying the entire game overtop of itself, i will try copying that one file over to the game launch location and if that works then hopefully others out there with this same exact problem will benefit from knowing which file to make a copy of and add a simple batch file to their computer as the Temporary which could be a Permanent Bug Fix for a game that has been troubled for a pretty good period of time without Tell Tale Games or Steam putting time into a Bug Fix for it.

Also I didnt get it just working again on the newer build, but also got it to work again on the older gaming build that I first reported this issue on by uninstalling the game and reinstalling it and that worked also with launching and ending game repeatedly with no problems. So I am going to give it time to show back up again and then try repopulating the installation location of Poker Night 2 from a known good state and hopefully that is a fix vs having to uninstall and reinstall the game each time this problem shows up.

Solve : What's wrong with my FPS??

I have an Acer Aspire 5755G with Intel Core i3-2350M @ 2.3GHz and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M (1GB VRAM) running on Windows 7 (64-bit). 500 GB HDD and (2 + 8)GB DDR3 RAM. I know this is not very good for gaming, but I have been playing games like CS:GO on full settings at res 1366*768 at 25+ fps. I have no idea what exactly happened, but now I can't even run games like TF2 and Black Mesa without the FPS fluctuating like mad. I was just playing Black Mesa and the FPS went to like 60-something and then dropped to below ten the next instant. This HAPPENS no matter what the setting. I think this started I added an additional 8GB RAM to the existing 2GB. Please HELP

Solve : Tons of games suddenly can't be played on Windows 7?

Answer»

So, I've been trying for the better part of a week now to help my brother figure out what's wrong with his computer. It started about 2 months ago when his League of Legends started to give him problems, crashing several times before a game started. After several fixes, he finally got it working again by simply running as admin. That worked till about a week ago and now his launcher crashes every time so he can't play the game at all now. While we're trying to fix this problem, we play some games on Steam, such as Left 4 Dead 2, which works just fine. Two days later, his Left 4 Dead won't start up and then he soon finds out none of his games will start up that are 3D. (Games like Divekick still run fine for him.) So now he can't play anything 3D.

Here's what we've tried so far that has resulted in minimal changes.
-Restarted the computer several times.
-Completely updated WINDOWS 7 with even optional updates.
-Verified game cache files.
-Updated drivers as much as possible. (This got Saints Row 4 to work again, but nothing else 3D does.)
-Tried a .blob fix for the Steam client
-Tried reinstalling League of Legends and various steam games, but problems continue to persist
-We haven't done this yet, but I doubt it's a registry issue, because he downloaded a new game I gifted him and even that didn't work.
-Tried running everything as admin.
-Have run several anti-virus and anti-malware checks on his system to find out if there is a virus AFFECTING his system, results came back negative.
-Have tried repeatedly booting up one game in case it's a % chance of launching, have never succeeded with this.
-Restarted his router (This fix was aimed directly at his League of Legends problem.)
-Has let the computer stand in a powered down state for an hour or two.

I'm far from a computer expert, but I just can't seem to find a reason why his computer can play games one day and the next can play absolutely nothing. I've done numerous google searches for several of the games with the types of errors he's getting, but nothing seems to work or completely match up with the problems he's experiencing. It would be easier if each game was having the same problems, but they seem to be behaving differently with each problem. Left 4 Dead 2 for instance will say that it's launched, Steam will say he's playing it, but it will never finish booting up and will stay that way until he ends the process. Payday 2 will prepare to launch but then immediately close itself. League of Legends launcher won't stay open. It's just a mess of different issues.

My brother and I have identical laptops so most of the information below should hold true.

System ManufacturerTOSHIBA
System ModelQosmio X505
ProcessorIntel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 460 @ 2.53GHz, 2534 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M
Operating System Windows 7 Home

Let me know if there's anything else important I'm leaving out. Any solutions to any or all problems would be greatly appreciated.

Toy have already done most of what can be done.

Does this problem only show on games that have to be played on-line?
Does the problem is only for copyrighted programs that require a license?
In over words, Are you trying to get around some restrictions the software placed on your use of the programs?

Just asking. Not accusing you of anything wrong.

We are not trying to get around any restrictions, no. And the problem occurs with non-online games as well. Here are two ways to moving ahead.
1. Assume it is a hardware issue and start doing substitutions of hardware components. And do a long memory test.
2. Assume it is a operating system aberration ad re- INSTALL the entire system.

That latter option is easier if you have a backup method that lets you go back to an earlier time, like six months back.

My best guess: Something happened to yurt BIOS firmware. Just a guess.First of all, gj on the diag so far!

You can also do a system restore (if you have restore points on) to before this became an issue... maybe a week to so before.

Honestly it COULD have been several things that caused it. Since it's affecting ALL 3D games, it's most likely RAM/CPU or VRAM/GPU oriented if it is a hardware thing. It could just be an issue with DirectX3D though... or any other part of Direct X for that matter... so software is a possibility too.

It is also possible that the newest drivers for the GPU are causing issues, and that updating them in an attempt to fix problem A (LoL not working) that it lead to problem B (no 3D rendering capability).

Personally I'd say roll-back your GPU driver to the version you had prior.
-- If that fixes 3D rendering issues, then you're 60% of the way to fixed.
-- After 3D issues are tackled LoL may work. If not, then try fully deleting everything relating to it (Revo Uninstaller works well) and installing anew.

If that gets you no where, then do a system restore to before. If that works (which I can't see it not working at least temporarily) then check all your versions and note everything down you can IMAGINE. I say do this in case it starts erroring again you'll have comparative data.

If that doesn't work stably and you still don't get any good solutions digging online - do a clean install.
Backup all the documents you want (aside from game stuff), reformat and reinstall windows (or a factory restore depending on the disks you have).

Solve : Game freezes on brand new computer regardless of OS?

Answer»

Hello,

I have a brand new computer which is much capable of doing what I ask for. Unfortunately, it kept freezing very early in games. I tried BF3, shogun 2, and dead island. The outcome is the same. At first I thought it might be because I was using a win8, and it had some compatibility problems. Then I installed win7 ultimate after deleting everything on C:, applied all updates for windows and video card drivers, then tried dead island again. You know what, it crashed on character selection screen! Then it also crashed in the end of my first battle on shogun 2. What I mean by crashed is that it is totally frozen and I can't even do ctrl-alt-del. It leaves the only choice to me as reset... So I guess it is not because of the OS, so I would definitely appreciate if you can help me with this. Here is my build;

G.SKILL Ripjaws 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) DIMM (RAM)

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Cooler 120mm (CPU Cooler)

AMD BullDozer Eight Core FX-8350 4.0GHz AM3+ Processor (CPU)

LG GH24NS95 24X SATA Internal SATA DVD Writer

Sapphire HD7870 XT 2G GDDR5 PCI-E Dual Fan Video Card (Graphics Card)

Cooler Master K380 Mid Tower Gaming Chassis

21.5" Samsung LED Monitor (LED)

FSP Aurum 600, 600W ATX PSU, Active PFC, Black

Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 Motherboard, Socket AM3+, AMD 970, 4xDDR3, 2xPCIe-16, 2xPCIe-1, Firewire, RAID, ATX

Any help you can provide is very much appreciated.

Thank you.Have you done any checks on your system apart from the games, and reinstalling (which was a good idea to START with)?
If not, try the Heaven Valley benchmark and Furmark to stress test your graphics card, LinX or Prime95 to stress your CPU, and MEMTEST86+ (which is a bootable ISO, burn it to a disk and boot from it) to test your RAM.
It's likely to be one of those that's at fault here and those tests should help show which.Wow, you really did your diag to find your issue. I get too frustrated to do that much work. before you reloaded the OS, I would have called someone for help. I can only take so much.
Is the computer still under warranty?
In some places there is a Consumer Electronic Warranty law that requires sellers to provide repair or replacement for items that do not perform as expected.
One would think that a computer that can not play popular games must have a defect.
This is old, but there may be a law in your province or state.
Quote

Legislators in New Jersey have proposed a measure that would extend traditional “lemon law” protections to customers purchasing consumer electronics. A-3978, also KNOWN as the Consumer Electronics Warranty Lemon Law, unanimously passed an Assembly committee last week. The idea behind the legislation, its sponsors said in a statement to PoliticsNJ.com, is that because some consumers spend thousands of dollars per year on electronics, they deserve the same sort of protections that car owners do.
It is possible that the game would have had issues in Win 8, but you should have gotten errors of some sort.

Since it's also not working on Win 7 Ult, I'd say it's about 95% likely that it's a hardware issue.

Since the computer is quite new - you can just take it back. If not, then I'd just do all the test that Calum recommended and replace anything that generates issues.

Solve : Favorite Games for System / Console in relation to their time periods?

The other forum post about Most Favorite Game of All Time has been going on now for years, and seeing another reponse to it today I realized that like myself, others have many favorites and the favorites should probably be categorized to systems / console systems in which what games were your favorites for the time period in which the systems were most utilized for those types of games.

So I took some time to piece together my favorites in relation to Consoles and Personal Computer games that matched up best to the systems I had in the past and my favorites of each systems abilities / time period.

Sold this system and went back to using older computers for a short while.

Pretty much World of Warcraft below from release date to latest expansion with exception to me getting angry with Cataclysm changes and leaving the game for 9 months, until lured back in by friends to TRY out the revised Death Knight with drastically different changes, and a combination that made for insane damage with the right gear and right rotation of attack controls.* Although I am not playing it as often as I use to and am looking for a replacement game that is fun to play, so open to suggestions for good MMORPG games to try?

Athlon XP 2800+ 2.08Ghz 512MB RAM with 80GB HDD and CD-RW and DVD ROM running Windows XP Home ( Dec. 2003 ) that had an AGP port to install GeForce FX5200 128MB Video Card in 2004 = ( World of Warcraft - Classic .. aka Vanilla) replaced my favorite game for this system when WoW came out. Prior to WoW I was playing lots of Counter Strike on this system and Unreal Tournament 99 death matches. The PVP of WoW and the awesome graphics etc won me over as the #1 game to play on this system which continued through Burning Crusade Expansion in 2006.

Sempron X2 2200 (2.0 Ghz dual-core ) 1.5GB DDR2 667 RAM (2008) upgrade to replace the now dead Athlon XP 2800+ motherboard. = ( "Still" World of Warcraft and Still running Windows XP ) although better graphics with GeForce 8400 GS PCIe 256MB Video RAM and just in time for World of Warcraft - Lich King which needed more resources to play on high graphics settings.

Athlon II x4 620 2.6Ghz quadcore upgrade + 4GB DDR2 800Mhz Corsair XMS2 RAM purchased used from brother (2010) as well as Video Card upgrade to ATI Radeon HD 5450 with 512MB RAM and upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium... Friend of mine cooked his integrated video on his new HP killing motherboard gaming with it when he was playing lots of World of Warcraft, but warranty expired so I helped him pick out a new socket AM3 motherboard and through the PURCHASING process of motherboard and video card he decided that he wanted the Phenom II x6 ( six-core CPU ) instead of using his already existing quadcore that had nothing wrong with it. Got his Phenom II x6 up and running and offered him $50 for his quadcore. He gave me quadcore for free for helping him get the new guts running in his HP case...... World of Warcraft is still my #1 favorite until Cataclysm Expansion made me MAD and I left the game for 9 months and played other MMORPG games that were free to play etc and it was NICE not having that $15 a month fee for 9 months.

Ended up going back to World of Warcraft - Cataclysm and making an insanely geared Frost Death Knight with Unholy Presence and cookie cut talent tree that a friend helped me perfect the controls etc and gameplay was addicting out dps-ing some tanks in my dps role and fast runic power regeneration through an advantage of Unholy Presence.

World of Warcraft - Pandaria released ... still on same hardware, then built new system and installed used $10 on ebay Socket AM2 Athlon 4450B 2.3Ghz into my old gaming system with Biostar MCP6PB M2+ motherboard and moved the quadcore Athlon II x4 620 2.6Ghz AM3 socket CPU to the new system until I can buy the AMD FX 8350 (8-core 4Ghz ) CPU that I want. New system has 8GB RAM through a deal with newegg for Biostar AM3+ motherboard and 8GB DDR3 RAM for $72 and free shipping and AMD ATI HD5450 with 1GB DDR3 video card.
This a very interesting collection of games and "experiences". I too am a fan of video games since the days of the Sega Mega Drive. However, from several years I decided to play only to MMO and browser game.

Solve : RYZOM - Open Source MMORPG?

Answer»

Anyone have any experience with this game Ryzom to SHARE any info on editing it etc?

Was looking online for an open source game similar to World of Warcraft (which is not open source) to play around with and alter to my likings etc, and I downloaded all content online.

I haven't gone through the process to making it all run yet, but figured I'd post here in case anyone has any tips on this if they have played with it before or altered it before etc. From what I downloaded it looks like I have everything needed to alter it any WAY that I want, although I doubt that they gave the map editor tools for free so the maps ( landscapes etc ) may have to remain the same with the only ability of alteration being quests ADDED, removed, or altered, and game statistic alterations, and ability to add objects NPC's, Buildings, etc to x, y, z and rotation coordinates etc through database alterations.

Only map editing I have ever done was with Torchlight, and Unreal Tournament 99. With UT99 being the most complicated to work with yet and probably the closest to the world environment game engine that makes this game operate.

Video footage on youtube shows that the game appears unfinished. Such as when running around you do not hear your characters feet stomping on the ground etc, and some things that should have audio are lacking it such as interactions with NPC's etc. Even if I had them all say "Hello" or "Can I help you?" when I click on them might be some improvement to the original game. Instead they have dialog boxes that pop up with text WITHOUT audio.

Yet the game has features that are cool such as AI that makes animals act like real animals vs animals in World of Warcraft that stick to a "patrol" like motion always wandering in a given boxlike space and never leaving its box even when its after you. If you run far enough away it will run back and evade ATTACKS until it resets its position to its operating boundary of digital existance.
Here is more info on this game and its history of how it became open source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RyzomI am an expert of MMO games, but nothing about game programming. However, in the web there are several titles open source from which to draw.

For example:

http://sourceforge.net/directory/games/mmorpg/os:windows/freshness:recently-updated/
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-world-an-open-source-mmorpg

Try searching on Google, you will find many sites of this kind.

Solve : lag on games?

Hi to everybody (new user here ) i have had a browse on forums but cannot find anything specific to my problem (although could have missed it) When i play battlefield BAD company 2 and cod 4 modern warfare and a few others, my games start OK but then get increasingly laggy till i can hardly move , my fps and ping are ok and i've had an engineer from virgin check my router, connection etc so don't think its isp side of things, any help would be appreciated as i don't want to buy new pc only to find that it might be an EASY fix.

What are your operating temps?

I use speedfan to look at temps, it has a graphing ability to graph temps and then game and then windows key back to windows desktop, and look at the temps when the game acts up. It will show CPU, GPU, HDD, and some other temp info.hi thanks for reply, i d/l speedfan played battlefield and gpu temp went up to 55c with a little flame by it , does this MEAN to hot??? do i need extra cooling do you think?Max GPU temp is rated at 99C as per: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-560ti/specifications

Speedfan shows that flame for temps that the SOFTWARE believes are too hot, but as long as its within the operating limits it should be ok. I am assuming that all other temps were good in the green with the GPU being the only hot temp reported?

Solve : Guild Wars 2 - Picked it up 40% off on sunday - Anyone else play this Pros/Cons??

Answer»

Just picked up Guild WARS 2 for 40% off on SUNDAY. Friend of mine sent me link on facebook and it dropped the price tag from $49.99 to $29.99, so I decided to buy it.

What I like so far is:

- No Monthly Fees to play ( *So I am taking a break from Blizzards $15 a month wallet tap that they have had on me since 2005 ... LOTS OF $$$$ spent playing that game over last 8 years, ( $1440 + software and expansions + some blizzard store items ) and so many friends no longer play it anymore and have moved on to other games )
- Graphics and game content is pretty good, although lots to still learn
- Fight sequences and abilities have been easy to learn so far
- This game plays BETTER than some other NCSoft titles I have tried that are F2P but pay to win
- As part of this purchase I also was given a 18 slot trunk for item storage
- As part of this purchase I also was given a choice of 1 of 3 gear skin sets ( skin = transmog etc ) ( * I created a Human Thief/Rogue and the Krytan armor set looks sweet on the toon that I created. )

What I realized I dont like as of now:

- After you install the game, you have to chose a server aka realm to play on and its a one time initialization, and so you can not play on multiple realms. ( * Looking online they claim that this is to stop people from spying on the other worlds that are in PvP with the world that you normally play on. ) Fortunately I had a screenshot that my friend shared with me a few months BACK that had the info of what realm she was on, so I chose that one. Had I selected randomly from the list, I could have bought this game and not been able to play along side a friend which would have sucked .... so warning: be sure you really want a specific world / realm as your home when initializing your account at the start of the game. ( I was hoping to try out different realms to see which ones I like better, similar to World of Warcrafts ability to create 11 characters per realm with a limit of 50 characters per account in which I had about 42 characters after 8 years of play and knew what realms were good and which ones I didnt like etc. )

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone else playing this game to share any other pros and cons about it that I may not be aware of?

I figured that if I get 2 months of play out of it its worth it at $30 and if I get more than 2 months out of it, then I start to save money not paying Blizzard.

Solve : Neat free game for anyone that like Diablo & Torchlight?

Answer»

One of my friends the other day told me to check out Path of Exile which is free to play and is like Diablo and TORCHLIGHT, but different www.pathofexile.com

Downloaded the game and it is pretty good. Right at the get go having to kill zombies on the beach and the flashing lightning very realistic with shadows etc was more advanced than I at first expected this game to be. I created a witch in which I was able to kite around zombies and the boss monster to kill before entering the first city where you are finally given quests to do, and then I ran out of time to game further as it was getting late.

One big difference in this game from others like it is that there is no money in the game. Everything is traded for items of value that have limits to their stacking, so this Online RPG will never have an economic runaway caused by too much money farmed/looted which causes PRICES to climb to crazy amounts like Diablo III has a serious PROBLEM with for anyone ever visiting the auction house for the very first time with the 1300 gold you have and find out that you will need 10,000 gold to buy a single low level piece of gear that someone is selling because too much money was farmed and so the price of everything goes up because its inflated due to too much going around, however anyone new to the game at first feels rich after all the grinding until they see this fact and then its like "OMG THE ECONOMY IS OUT OF CONTROL".. This is one of the reasons why I quit playing Diablo III which I got free I guess you could say since I got it as part of a deal with Blizzard to keep paying for World of Warcraft for 1 year.

Although I like a money system better for feeling out what is good from a bad purchase, as in other games which USE virtual money, to have a sense of in game wealth, I think I can learn to get use to this other non-monetary system of trade. However I still feel like I should be looting money in gold, silver, and copper coins as I go.

Talking with another player who has played this for a while he has said that it can start to feel like a constant grind, but dungeon crawlers whether online or offline single player have always felt like a grind anyways to get better gear, get more powerful in stats, and level up anyways, so the game grind of a game like this is not a problem unless it gets to a point that you have to spend real money to ADVANCE further because of in game drop limitations that cap you unless you spend real money. From what I have read online this game does not restrict you or cap you in any way between people playing for free such as myself and others who pay for items for their characters, so that is a big plus to this game to me that I am not wasting my time to get to a point in which I realize that I was pulled into the money trap like so many other games that are free to play have to be able to compete with other players who spend money to be all powerful.

So if you like Diablo and/or Torchlight, I'd check it out.

Solve : Tera Rising - question about character skins & text size?

Answer»

So I downloaded the 25GB of Tera Rising and I have to say its a great game, however I noticed that the load time of the game seemed to take a while and was HDD intensive.

So I moved it to my SSD which is SATA II and this helped greatly with load time.

Now though I am trying to figure out how to fix what is more of an eye sore than an annoyance in the game. When I run up to NPC's and other players are around occasionally they are all grey outlines and they havent populated with their skins/textures etc, but if you wait about 3 to 5 seconds the skins, gear, etc finally instantly fill the grey silhouette.

I have tried to increase the graphics settings as well as decrease the graphics settings, as well as verified that I have the latest driver for my video card and it still occasionally happens, especially if entering new areas more so than already visited areas, so I was wondering if anyone else who plays this game has seen this and fixed it or just play the game and deal with the occasional silhouettes until the textures and skins are populated 3 to 5 seconds LATER?

Lastly there does not appear to be a setting to increase the font size of the text for the controls in the game, so I have to squint to read stuff in a font size that is like a size of Font 6, when using settings of 1024x768 which is the lowest resolution available and 4:3 for square 19" flatscreen. Attached is an example of the text size, I can include screenshots from the game as well to show how bad it is. But does anyone know how to increase the text size in the game? I strained my eyes looking for a option but didnt find one. The interesting thing is that when NPC's issue quests and speak in bubble above their heads the text size is not an eye strain and is like Font 10 or 12.

While I do use reading glasses of 1.75 to avoid squinting when reading books with small print, in all other games I play glasses are not required and I am hoping I am not going to have to play the game with them resting on my nose to tilt my head back and look at small text and then tip my head forward to play without looking through them.

*Maybe this game was not really intended for older square 19" flat screens with 4:3 and 1024x768, but if they make it an option, they should make the text able to be read easily. I do have a 24" widescreen that I bought a few years back as an upgrade to the 19", but found it way too large and didnt like having to turn my head to see stuff, when on the 19" my eyes can quicklypick up on targets without having to physically move. My desk is not a deep desk so the display is like 24" away from my face. The 24" widescreen I mounted on the wall and use that to watch netflix and hulu through PC with wireless keyboard and mouse from bed.

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]I play Tera too! I love it.

As for the text size, there is an option called UI Scale. Have you tried changing this? If I recall correctly, it is a slider in the Graphics options menu. It changes the size of all the UI and text on screen.

As for the textures/loading, that is an error I find in a lot of MMOs. I find things load better if I am in a less crowded channel - In Tera, any channel that says Low besides it will be fine. It simply can't load all the textures at once if the channel is crowded (is my theory). Thanks for getting back to this. I will try out the UI Scale feature.

As FAR as textures failing to load quickly I will try a lesser crowded channel and see what happens. Its strange that it appears that the skins are being downloaded each time you enter an area vs loaded from the local computer which would be so fast that you wouldnt notice the time it took to load. Maybe this is an anti-piracy feature to retain a mixture of important content server side to make private servers hard to create for the client. But personally with a game that is FREE to play in which i have YET to find limitations in the free play ... there is no need really for private servers to ever exist. As for the private illegal servers out there are mainly found with games that "demand" pay-to-play vs those that are free to play and give you the option to spend money for extras which is where the revenue is generated.

I was trying to get my wife to love the game Tera as much as I do, and she was turned away from it because she is too use to World of Warcraft, and said it is like a copy cat to it. I told her that World of Warcraft can also bee seen as copying projects before it, its just that WoW was your first ever game like this, and so everything else looks like copy cats to what you are already use to as the origin of these types of games. I play a NUMBER of them, Tera, WoW, Rift, Gates of Andaron, Allods, and others, although WoW and Tera are at the top of the list.

Solve : Suggested Games for Netbook??

Answer»

Looking for game suggestions for ( online and offline gameplay ) for my Netbook.

I am going away on business trip for a week and thought of instead of bringing my massive laptop and running to airport terminals with it slung over my shoulder and CARRY on bag over opposite shoulder, maybe I should bring the Netbook with me instead and this way I have my backpack and a computer in 1 carry on item.

The netbook also has up to 9 hours of battery life on a full charge in case I get stuck in a long layover with no airport outlets to tap into or all taken by other electron tappers for their iPhones etc as has been the case in the past.

BUT... Given its a wimpy Atom Processor I haven't played any installed games on it yet to know what would even run on it. The only games played so far are Facebook games in which some behave and others seem to have graphics lag such as the simulated dials on slot machine etc:

HARDWARE:

Toshiba NB205-N210 Netbook
Intel Atom 1.66Ghz CPU ( 1 physical core but shows as 2 cores with virtual core )
Intel Integrated Graphics GPU
2GB DDR2 RAM
90GB OCZ SATA II SSD
Windows XP Home SP3 OS

http://www.cnet.com/laptops/toshiba-mini-nb205-n210/4507-3121_7-33687576.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking for any and all suggestions to TRY out on this netbook for both online and offine games. Free is good, although if they cost less than $20 maybe I will buy a title after checking it out online.

Thanks for suggestions ... I have some older games that would probably run ok on it, however most of them require the CD to be in CD ROM during game play as antipiracy feature and this netbook has no optical drive, however I have installed software to it via external DVD-RW drive connected to USB 2.0 before if need be to install a game that then runs stand alone.Unfortunately you have a weak graphics card so cant play high end games.
did you tried subway surfers ? there is windows version
warcraft 3 dota Thanks for game suggestions, going to check those out on it. I have Warcraft III, never tried subway surfers before will have to check into that.

As far as graphics processing power it is weak, its = to around a Geforce 4 MX 440 according to online benchmark resuts for GPU score.

I ended up taking both my netbook and my large laptop with me on the business trip because I didnt find a solution to pass the time on just the netbook. Going to try out Warcraft 3 on it to see how it performs. I have run Diablo II on it without any issues, but played that game so much that I lose interest with it anymore.

I also have TORCHLIGHT 1 and Torchlight 2 and those games are fun, but the netbook seems to lag with both of them and they require a live connection to Steam because even when setting them up to operate in offline mode through steam, but wont launch without an internet connection to Steam which I suppose is an antipiracy feature maybe, although other games not on this netbook but on my laptop seem to run ok in the steam offline mode for a period of time until the offline time lease is expired and has to be renewed through connection to steam.Tell me how the games worked especially Warcraft III. I think it would not be a problem to play it.

Solve : Freecell?

Answer»

This is my first time on a forum, so I sincerely hope that I adhere to your usual practices. Simply put, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to get the original Freecell that used to come out with the Microsoft package of about 5 to 6 games. Probably about the 95 version I think, but am not sure. Somehow, inadvertently, I still had my finger on the delete button whilst I was in the Desktop MODE, and what was stationed there at the time, moved very SLOWLY to disappear, so to speak, and I briefly touched the shortcut of Freecell, and ACCIDENTALLY deleted it somehow. I have been looking for some months now, on the net, and seem to get all this updated new fandangled software, with attachments of a MULTITUDINOUS amount of other games, in which I have no interest at all! Can someone please help me with a link of some sort, or just the software to retrieve the ole ' good 'un that I had before Thank you. If you can borrow a CD of an older version of windows, you can put it on your current system. Yes, it is a copyrighted thing, but MS is not going to persecute you for using an old game. Here is how I reason. Current versions o Windows have an updated version, so the implication is that you would have permission to use the EARLIER version.

BTW: you can download the classic
So maybe MS does not care anyway.

It's a tough call to say which game made more of an impression. Honestly, I think Wolfenstein 3D made more of an impact than Doom did as far as gaming history. I remember how much of an impression it made on me when I first played it on my 80486 Tandy Sensation.

However, that said, Doom also made a big impression with the improved graphics, sound and the introduction of multiplayer Doom.

However, to answer this posts question I would say that WORLD Of Warcraft is so far the best game in my eyes. That or Gothic II.Yes, I was going for the added feature of NETWORK play over the basic Wolfenstein.Madden, Madden, Madden. I have been playing it since it came out. To go along with Admin's 'What was the first game you've ever played?', I thought I'd ask the question "What is your FAVORITE game of all time?".

Solve : cheats for fun brain and cool math.?

Answer»

i want to know if there are cheats for fun brain and cool math. my teachers let me go on them and i want to know some codes for fun brain and cheats for cool mathAre Fun Brain and Cool Math titles of software? Are these learning programs? Why do you want cheat codes?I think he's referring to http://www.funbrain.com/ and http://www.coolmath.com/, both of which are education sites with flash games.I'm trying to build a bridge that won't COLLAPSE. Where's the cheat codes?

My Mars lander won't WORK! Where's the cheat codes? which therefore are most likely not going to have cheats if its a flash game. Well um, you can use cheat engine (program) that performs well with flash games... They have a speed hack, so you MIGHT find a process and slow down the flash... if that would help

If not then you can just go to one of the calculator sites which will help you with your problems

You can slow down your browser with !xspeed. But it'll most likely cause your browser to crash if you use it for more than like 12 seconds. So you could assign hotkeys for slowing down and putting it back to default, that way you can use it for more than 12 seconds When your browser then freezes you have to quickly turn it off because even though your screen will be frozen, the game will still run. Here's a "hack" for you: learn the math skills! SERIOUSLY. My nephew is probably better than me at math, but I beat him on figuring a bunch of problems, because I knew, for example, that 7 times 8 = 56, while he had to punch that into his calculator. (I was using a calculator, too -- just not for stuff that was as basic.)who the hey resurrected a 3 month old post?

Just learn the math LOL heh, the only cheats I usually use are mostly lowering gravity. that way the giblets in quake go everywhere!

But Cheating in a game designed to improve math/logic skills... what a pointless endeavour.Quote from: computerperson#1 on May 22, 2009, 07:29:45 PM

If you just do the work then you won't need the cheats that we aren't going to give you.Hooray for spam and reviving year-old threads! Hooray hooray!Ugh I'm like stuck on the game "crossing bridges" or something like that, on coolmath.com. Does anyone know how to beat that?? Quote

can some one please help i have not play in 2 DAYS Is this a facebook game? Or is it a stand alone game? Facebook problems should be addressed to the company providing the said game.Facebook games can be PICKY and the latest flash and JAVA handlers are important for proper script execution. In addition to this, Facebook games are MEMORY and cpu HOGS, if you dont have at least a Pentium 4 and 1GB Ram the games might not run to well. My wife ran Cafe World on a Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz with 1GB Ram and Windows XP Pro SP3. The game ran laggy on that system until upgrading her to a new dual core.

Solve : Is a quad core needed for games now??

Thank you for all the information.

Next step - RESEARCH adaptoid and see what I can find out.usually if you SEARCH ebay for adaptoid and your SYSTEM- like "Adaptoid PS2" or "Adaptoid N64" you'll usually get a number of hits for adaptoids for controllers from those systems.

Naw I run a Dual Core. My processor is fine...When i had a single core my hard drive had to wait for the cpu...now with duel its the other way around.QUOTE from: johngetter on September 27, 2010, 06:41:27 PM
