A friend just gave me the mame32 arcade game simulator. I've loaded it on my computer but I don't know how to 'insert the coin' when I play midway 1942. Does anyone know the right key??No help menu or readme I suppose?

Try turning on an option called "SuperEagle2X".. It sharpens the graphics alot!

while trying to PLAY several free online casino games I recently started having a problem in which when i click on the game i WISH to play INSTEAD of the game comming up i get an outline of the game that is all black. In the top left hand corner there are three tiny shapes SQUARE,circle, triangle that will not go AWAY and the game will not appear. Is this some kind of block? I've played and finished the first Prince of Persia (POP), Sands of Time, and it ran smoothy and quickly. However, now the NEWEST one, Warrior Within isn't running as fast. When there are too many obstacles or guards the game slows down. It's frozen for a split second before. Is it my PC doing this? Or is the game doing this on purpose to make it harder? The only thing that doesnt meet the requirements is the CPU frequency. But I have an INTEL Pentium(R) III... which I've heard is supposed to be better than most. I'm really not sure though. Could that be the problem?

ThanksThat could very well be the problem. What you have copied are most likely the minimum specifications. Take a LOOK at the recommended specifications.Not only the frequency, but also the Direct X could be updated... 9.0c recetnly came out... Update eventually? (Might be more stable) However, we can't go on a guess that the Pentium can match or beat the requirements just becuase of its name...

Ok i will try to explain all this in one go. i have microsoft flight sim 2004 just installed, The problem been is that after so long say 1, 2 mins it just locks up and i have to restart my computer from the restart button. In this GAME, it gives you a diagnostic tool wich allows you to boot the game in safe mode and play it, to see if there is a hardware fault, I did this and it didnt freeze or hang. But as soon i i START it the proper way its back to it hanging and freezing. So this is suggesting that i have a hardware fault. What does anyone think can be the problem, I run other games and dont have this problem, my card is a Geforce Fx 5900 and i have all the latest driver and DIRECT X installed. My OS Is XP Home with service pack 2 and i have 512 ddr Amd 2500 processer.Have you simply tried reinstalling the game?Crafty, I have posted a few solutions for you on your last post in the software section... I have played games were onboard sound or a sound card thats not very good can have an effect on game PLAY. Just disable your sound try running the game to see if its any better. Oh and ONE more THING since you had it built make SURE your hard drive is on the master and not the master slave as that was somthing else i came across for poor game play. MAYBE it might just be the game severs when alot of players are connected, Have you asked anyone else on line if they are getting the what your getting.

I have tried to download several games, and one which is brand new, never installed, and there are some conflicting things going on that will not let it install on my computer. [glb]Flame[/glb]I used to have a similar proble while running Doom3...it was related to overheat in the processor. When you are runnig a heavy game such as W3FT you processor and video CARDS are constantly working...when the pc detects overheating as a safe trigger it shuts itself down. try upgrading the hardware or installing better cooling fans. Or you might ALSO want to try to overclock your machine but is kind of risky.

I downloaded a torrent file of the STARWARS republic comando game. I usually have no PROBLEMS decompressing the files but in this case i havent been able to. The extension of the files is not recognizable by winace nor winrar nor NERO. I tried lokking for help online but have had no luck. The files look like this: swr1-pcg.039 numbered from 1 to 54 all the same size except one which is usually smaller and a SFV file. I WOULD really be thankful if i could get some advice.

i have win xp and everytime i play age of empires II the expansion it FREEZES for like 5 SEC and unfreezes for like a 1 sec. then freezes BACK again. i have CABLE modem and my pc is brand new.

When attempting to load Command and Conqueror Generals the pre game video (EA GAMES bit) stutters and then plays about 1 second a minute. When it finishes playing the video it stops and will not move onto the next screen. I am using a Nvidia Geforce 3 ti 200 64 Mb, have the latest drivers and direct x files. How do I fix this problem? Nevertheless when I do so the computer takes ages to load up and usally shutdowns randoly when loading the taskbar PROGRAMS after I have logged in.

However when the computer does eventually load up and does not shutdown the pregame videos load up.

At the moment I have the current Nvidia drivers downloaded off their website. With these drivers teh computer loads up normally and does not shutdown when logging in.

Ideally I would want the pre game videos to work with the current drivers so that I do not have to wait ages for the computer to load only for it to shutdown when I log in.

Any ideas how to get this to happen?
Thanks for the help so far!Try the game site first for patches & fixes, if that fails go back to nvidia and check the older drivers, there is/was a link there for them. Start working back & see if you can find one that does it all for you until the game site or nvidia fixes the problem.

You MAY have lowered your GRAPHIC settings in Red Alert: C&C before formatting and have forgotten to do so now.

1. Formatting the HDD
2. Reinstalling Windows
3. Installing soundcard, mainboard & videocard drivers
4. INSTALL game
5. Test performance

Without CONNECTING it to the INTERNET and without installing anything else?

You KNOW when you open up a game and your screen like clicks and flickers to change the resoloution to open the game? Hi ppl's does anyone know if 'Star Trek: New Worlds' will play on XP? It's an old GAME which I recently made a back-up copy of, I actually INSTALLED the game from the copy and it seem to install fine but after I select a race and level and click ok to start playing it crashes to the desktop and I receive the 'STNW.exe has encountered a problem and will close' box I uninstalled it and installed it with the original CD but it still crashes at the same spot???

Would that be a issue with XP or could the back-up copy have pooch SCREWED my system up

The spec's only say a minimum of Win 95 so I dont know if it is compatible or not

[glb]Flame[/glb]Thanks for the advise Flame, after doing a lengthy search I have found out that it is not compatible with XP, I was unable to get it to run in compatibility mode either although someone clams that it will run if set to "Win 2000" but that did not help :-/

As Interplay had GONE bust there were no patches avaliable either Doesn't matter I'm going to build a machine and install an older version of windows so that I can play older non compatible programs. Thanks again...

i have very weird and technical problem regarding to my video memory.

i have Nvidia geforce FX5200 128 ddr which i have installed on win98.

i was having problems running games on my pc...games were failed to run at all....i was wondering why its happening....later,i found the main problem...the problem was actually my video memory on my pc.....i have 128 mb memory of my video card but its actually showing only 2MB...yes !!!...only 2mb of memory my card has on my pc....i ran directx 9..it showed only 2 mb memory..i ran display settings...it showed with 2mb memory....i even ran some games system check up utility...and it showed 2mb of video card memory as well...and giving me message that your video card has very less memory and game wont start.

later on,someone said me to run MSconfig.exe and choose "selective STARTUP" method and then restart......i did the same...but then my pc was halt on my desktop...MEANS whenever i boot the pc i was unable to click on desktop at all..just nothing was WORKING except ctr alt del....so i went on safe mode..and then ran directx and display settings....both showed atleast 64 mb memory of my video card (while i had 128 memory on video)....then again ran MScofig.exe and clicked on normal start (bcoz my pc was not working good on selective startup method)....then restarted....and again same problem i faced...i DIDNT have memory of my video card.

my pc shows only 2mb memory of my video card....why is that???...where is the rest of memory???...my video card has 128...but my pc only takes 2mb...thats why i cant run any game.

no i did not try to put it on another computer.....but yes...i have checked my card on my own computer on winxp.....i had winxp before...and my card was running good and showing full video memory...its only on win98..and for some reason i want it on win98 only.

yes my mobo supports my video card as it was running quiete good on winxp.

my card is an AGP 8X card.

ofcourse my mobo supports 8x card.


note: on winxp i had no problem with my graphic card...i was playing games quiete ok.....its just on win98 it doesnt shows full memory...my video card runs fine on win98 but its just that it does not take its full video memory......but running computer in safe mode it shows 64 mb memory.......while i have 128....means in normal mode...memory is 2m...in safe mode memory is 64mb.

Sounds like to me you have a bad CD. Error 1305 is very common when the CD-ROM (or whatever you are using to read it) thinks the disk is corrupt. Try wiping your disk off to start. If that doesn't work, I would suggest burning the CD to a new CD or Copying the CD and running it from your harddrive. If you need assistance with any of the above let me know and I'll be glad to point you in the right direction. Let me know how it goes. If this doesn't work, I'll see what else I can do to help you out.disc is *censored* near brand new.

when i did have the game installed, it worked fine, however, i got al oad of viuses on the hard drive so i had to have it wiped and the os re-installed. the game manufacturers are also the worst in terms of copyright, i would need a lot of patches to get round this in order to copy the cd and it work. do you know anywhere i could get one which does not have any viruses as i cannot afford to have to do that againThe CD doesn't have the viruses.. It sounds like your computer has some corrupted files inside, blocking the installation... Also, have you contacted the game manufacturer for support?

[glb]Flame[/glb]It is not against copyright terms to make another copy of the CD. It's against terms to give it to your friends, etc. You are allowed backup copies. You also don't need patches or anything of the such to make a copy. All you need is a program like Nero to make an IMAGE of the CD and then put that image onto a blank CD. They may have sent you a bad disk, you might have just got lucky and it installed correctly the first time. I've had it happen before. Also, like Flame stated, your computer could have corrupt files preventing you from installing correctly. Does it stop on the same file every time or a different file each time?same file every time.

i can't understand it we had the computer formatted to get rid of corrupted files, viruses, malware etc. i've DONE nothing different so far as installing goes, put cd in drive, cliked the install button on the autoplay screen, typed in the right code, made some cofee, and there was the message box, waiting for me, like a predator.This will sound silly but I read in a microsoft help file that if installation problems were occuring to turn the disk 90 DEGREES in the cdrom. An out of balance thing. You never know...

If there are corrupted drivers installed, then yes your computer will restart when those drivers SRE beiong used... I know... I had the same problem... Also, Who is the manufacturer of your video card? Model?

And they are REALLY fun and cool games if your into the action/rpg type.Black Isle Studios had a great run on games for awhile(Baldaurs Gate,Fallout series,Icewind Dale,etc.)But anyway, someone had posted in another topic about how they worked fine in xp and even better then the 95/98 version that they were made for.Plus at times,my moniter will restart itself and i'll get this error message that my video card quit taking commands or something to that effect and if i want to send an error report.So thats why i thought it was my video card,but its a PRETTY new card and not cheap.I have seen such type of error (video card quit taking commands, I don't remember the actual error message), and it was from the drivers of video card (I installed an Ati Radeon 9200 and after that started the problems).

Hey. I downloaded a demo of Prince of Persia and started playing before I had to go to a voice lesson. I forgot to turn off the game, so my time trial ended by the time I got home! Be careful not to delete anything else though.
Sometimes the traces that are left behind are impossible to find as they are put there to stop people using the software without paying for it.
Reformatting would fix it.

I bought a 9800pro 2 months ago and every game a play has a long lines in the MIDDLE of screen or missing TEXTURES or i can just see through walls. i updated drivers to allmost all of the ati and omega drivers, bought a new POWER supply 450ATX,installed service pack 2 from 1, reformatted, re-installed every game, the card is not over clocked and i did EVERthing i can think of can anyone HELP me?!

i had a question on fallout2. my aimed shots doesn't work. not that it doesn't work, the option doesn't EVEN appear. i bought this game YRS ago and played it fine. recently i decided to play it again and now when i go into attack mode, i right click to scroll through the options (single, BURST, reload) but the target doesn't appear for aimed shot (head, eyes, arms, etc). everything else in the game works fine but just that. i've TRIED reinstalling and going into the options but i've had no success. i've given up trying. thanks.Fallout is a great game..

You need to press the little circle on either the lower left or lower right side in order to enable attack mode.. If I remember correctly.

Some guns can not be used in aim-mode. Most big-guns can't.

gunman chronilces-pretty much like half life-am using windows millineum...i tried to solve the problem by swiching the vedio mode to "OpenGL" and things seemed to work fine,however,the game always hangs after some time...so i had to swich back to D3D ...but the lag is STILL there which is so much annoying...am using a standard mouse and my system specs are:

Hey, I wanted to play some older games (Like Starcraft, Risk 2, Delta Force 2) on my comp but when I CLICK start to start the game, I will get the normal second of black screen, but then the game will minimize. So, I try to click it so it will maximize the game, but I will get the black screen for a sec and then it will minimize it again. Also, if I right click the icon to close the game, I wont get the menu that will let me do that. The only way I can close the game is if I Ctrl+Alt+Delete it and then choose end program. Also, when I do that, it says that the program(game) is RESPONDING. Other games like WarCraft 3, Max Payne 2 and stuff run just fine. I only experience this on the older games. Have any suggestions? Now, if your problem CONCERNS the autoexec.nt file, a simple fix is to COPY a good one from the repair directory:

copy c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt c:\windows\system32

After the copy is complete, find the copied file in windows explorer, right click, then properties and lock it down by giving it a read-only property.

Hope this helps. Try compatibilty MODE........

I have a younger Brother who I suspect views porn on my computer. As a result I believe he downloaded a virus that CORRUPTED my Java, because now I can't get into my favorite gamesite, Pogo.com, to play speed chess. Apparently this is because my java is corrupted. Simulataneously, I have these regularly intervalled pop up ads which I believe are part of the said Java corruption. I have deleted all my Java files and REINSTALLED and updated my Java, but to no avail. Is there any possible way to fix this problem without cost? If not what software is best recommended to remedy the problem. I can get to the internet, and check email without a problem. Only games working with Java seem to be affected.

Finally, COULD my Interent Exporer be corrupted as well.
Anyone that can provide any insight or remedy for these conundrums will receive my deepest gratitude.

Every games that i play kicks me out to Windows and close this game after about 20 min of gameplay. Here is my spec

The CPU temperature seems fine around 40 but MAYBE the power supply can't supply the mobo enough cause the 4 pin plug isn't plugged cause the power supply asn't have it. Can this be the problem ... do i really need that 4 pin plugged to my mobo??Which version of DirectX are you using?

i have a pretty fast athlon XP with geforce fx 6800 gt (way over requirements for most games i play) but the whole computer freezes for like 3 seconds when i play World of warcraft and half life 2 and then runs normal till it once again freezes for a few seconds... what could that be?

Also, try looking in "power management" in the "control panel" to see if your hard drives shut down after some TIME of inactivity, I already had that KIND of problem and taht solved it.

Are you running top quality with Half-Life 2? because I know that Half-Life works best with ATI than nVidia.

you can also try closing ALL system tray applications in Windows before running the game.

And when you have these slowdowns, does your HDD led lights up during the 3 seconds of hanging?hey...
no i tried running world of warcraft with low but it still does it... it displays it just fine when it is actually displaying... hehe... cause after I start a high quality game i GOT like 30 secs and then the first "freeze" occurs... then faster about every 5 to ten seconds.... the graphics card is fine... could it be the ram? cause playing monkey island 1 and 2 is just fine... so is surfing the web or other low performance tasks...

I installed FIFA 2004 recently but the game DOSE`nt play properly I get sound but no picture just a white screen and I cannot uninstall it even though it appears in the add/REMOVE box I also tryed to remove it manually from the regestry but it does not appear in the uninstall folder here. If you do, install UPDATED VIDEOCARD drivers.pretty sure that your video card isn't capable of running that type of game. Maybe you can tell us what's card do you use?
