Hi, I have justed started playing the game Empire Total WAR, and when the characters talk their speech breaks up, and intermittently. If anyone else has this prob could you please tell me what you did to solve the speech situation, or is it a bug, or if it is something to do with my pc, could you please tell me how to solve the matter. I want play an older pc GAME. I know it RUNS on Win 95. Now that I want to play it again it's not compatible with 64-bit vista. I tried fiddling with the compatibility, RUNNING as administrator, using a virtual comp (which I can't use because I don't have ANYTHING but a windows vista home version disk, so I can't even put an OS on the virtual comp).

Do I have any other options left?

I tried Virtual PC. It said I needed an OS.Virtual PC will run a virtual copy of an OS (Like Windows 98, XP, Vista, Linux, or whatever), so you can run older programs or games INSIDE of it. You have to install the OS first, like you would install it onto a new computer.

You gotta get an install disc of an older OS in order to play that game. Unless someone can find a way to make it run on Vista 64bit...I dont think that it can but its just me cause of the way it is.  64 bit vs like 32 bit there is a big difference.

Halo CE isn't its own game, it is just an add on to the full game. That's why they can legally give it out for free. okay, I have the matrix,halo possibly the sims2 aviable for NETWORK play.  The thing is that I have tried doing this before to little luck.  I got a new mb for my gamer so it has two on board nic's and I can probably add a thrid.  Also, my setup is completely wired an runs threw a hub.  Also, HATE to use something like gamespy or w/e since I have a slow internet connection an such.So....what's the problem?that i dont know what to do at all......  What to do about what?laning them to other machines.You want them all to be on the same network?

Right Click My Computer on each of them, go to Properties, click the Computer Name tab, and make sure they all have the same Workgroup.so thats all I have to do no like ip address or anything?  I dont recall seeing any of that when you want multiplayer. Quote

Why don't you try it out?
Because you don't configure workgroups in games and you don't need to configure it for online multiplayer.

hi there. this is my first post here...
i would like to set up my daughter's laptop and my pc to play medal of honor allied assault so we can play against each other. she has her own disk and i have mine. the game runs on both.
we have a nettcomm WIRELESS router so we can both use the internet.
i am not interested in playing over gamespy etc, just to be able to take each other on in the lounge etc...
i am a COMPLETE NOOB when it comes to trying to set up a lan and have been PULLING my hair out trying. if anyone can help me, you will go to the top of my CHRISTMAS card list.

That is about the game you have.

But it may be easier if you just had a crossover cable and not have to deal with the router.  But you would not be wireless. So, to use the wireless you may have to read the article above.

Don't want to blow you over. But.. Some games require IPX protocol. Not always easy with a router.

I am like obsessed with the sims and the Sims 3 is coming out June 2nd. However i am really worried about my video card. The sims 3 requirements says;

"Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants MAY default to settings that are higher than what would be OPTIMAL for them. GRAPHICS settings can be lowered to improve performance."

My laptop has an ATI Xpress 1150 integrated chipset. Does that mean that it is able to run the sims 3? Everything else on my computer (the processor, memory etc) is fine to run the game. The video chip is my biggest worry. Thanks
You should be able to run it, but don't expect performance to be great.
You'll need to play with the settings to lower the DETAIL in order to make it playable.

So...

I have this game called Europa Universalis III.  I had recently bought the complete edition after this, as it INCLUDED the expansion packs and was cheaper than the individual downloads of expansions.  I had been able to play the normal Europa Universalis III well, but the graphics would not load correctly, and so I would ALWAYS have messed up colours.  When I uninstalled Europa Universalis III, and tried to install the Complete edition, it always LOADS InstallShield Wizard, and then says, "An installation support file could not be installed.  Access denied."  And when I try to reinstall my original edition, the same THING happens.

I haven't been able to play my game in about 6 months.  Can anybody help?  Oh and my Specs are:

Pentium 4 CPU, 2.80 GHz
2.24 GB RAM
128 MB video card(intel) model 82915G/GV/910GL Express

EDIT: It's fixed. I managed to manually reset the screens configuration but I've no idea what was reset since the only values that changed were the ones going right-left and up-down. The same ones I tried to change from the beginning but without any luck.

Windows Vista COMES with a Sidebar. It's a few cm wide, usually to the right on the screen. When playing games (CSI: New York and Still Life, so far) that Sidebar-size shows up on the gamescreen as a BIG black STRETCH of nothing and the gamescreen gets shunted to the left. The first thing I tried was manually move the screen's POSITION but it couldn't move enough towards the right side to let me see the full gamescreen. The other thing I did was first closing the Sidebar and then disable it with not letting it start automatically after rebooting. I still get the same result.

Has this happened to anyone else and is it possible to solve?

Hey everyone, I have an Xbox 360 and I would like to get into playing it online. However, due to the way my house is wired the only way to get an ethernet cable to my 360 is to go through a wall and run the wire along the floor. I do have a wireless router and was wondering if I got a USB wireless card would that work to get my 360 online? Or would it need some TYPE of SPECIAL software to MAKE it work for the Xbox? First choice would be move the router closer to the 360. I wouldn't recommend BUYING the 360 wireless adapter as it is really expensive. Spend your money on a wireless network card for the pc as its a lot cheaper.

The other option if moving the router isn't possible would be to buy a wireless bridge for the 360. Not sure if your are familar with a wireless bridge, but basically you run a ethernet cable from the 360 into a small wireless device that sits next to the 360 and that connects to your router. There not too expensive either.

okay i have installed the season one for the sims 2 and I have the orginal installed.  The thing is that its asking for the second disk I put it in and it still prompts me for it.  I hate to reinstall it, I put in a whole bunch of extra's.  The other thing is that when I open the drive and INSERT the first disk it works but I have to open and close it each time to work it.Sounds like the disc is damaged.it SEE the disk and EVERYTHING.  I dont know I used protective disks so that it didnt get scrathed.  Quote from: squall_01 on May 02, 2009, 06:11:45 AM

Sims 3 in coming out in June and unfortunately my laptop needs a new video card to run the GAME. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1501 with an ATI Radeon XPRESS video card. I was wondering if it is BETTER to get a new video installed in my laptop (I am not sure if this is even possible since I think my card is integrated chipset) or if I should just get a new laptop? I got my current laptop in August 2007, but I am leaning towards buying a new one. I want a bigger hard drive and more memory as well. If it’s better to get a new laptop which dell laptop would be best?

You cannot upgrade your graphics card on a laptop. It doesn't work like that. The graphics chipset is integrated into the motherboard and cannot be removed.

Personally INSTEAD of getting a new laptop I would get a Desktop Computer. They are considerably cheaper and have the option to be heavily upgraded. Laptops are not designed to play such high-spec games, and those which can play it are undoubtedly very expensive.

If you have the money, go for it, but you could buy a desktop computer that can play Sims 3 for maybe half or a third of the price of a laptop.

Hey, I have been UNINSTALLING some computer software on my laptop to free up space. I have been trying to uninstall The sims 2 deluxe but it always SAYS that I have an EXPANSION PACK installed and I must uninstall it first. I have already uninstalled all the expansion pack but it still say it. Any help?Have you RESTARTED the computer after uninstalling the expansion pack?Yup.could it be from a virus?I highly doubt it.

Try putting in the Sims 2 disc and uninstalling it from there.

Okay, so I'm having a little problem with the Sims installation. For Christmas last year, I had gotten a Windows Vista Laptop and recently I decided I wanted to put the original Sims onto it. Now the problem starts when I get to installing The Sims UNLEASHED. It says its missing I think data 2 and gives me no other option but okay. And all of a sudden it closes down the sims installation and then I go to see if at least the first sims works... and its uninstalled. I don't know what to do so I'd really appreciate your help as soon as possible.Is Sims Untitled on it? Sims Unleashed is the expansion pack to Sims Untitled.Could it be a scratched or dirty disc?

Is "Unleashed" a single disc install or multiple discs?

I would venture to guess that it's a single disc, so maybe clean it (Water + soft cloth + stroke from center OUT, not in circles).
If the disc still looks bad, a cd scratch REMOVER might be in order.  I've never personally used one, but apparently it takes a SMALL layer of plastic off the disc, eliminating or reducing scratches along the way.

If it's a mutli-disc install, maybe you missed a prompt to insert the SECOND disc and it timed out?

Or maybe I'm totally off.

This is a legal copy of the game that you BOUGHT, right?
Because if it's downloaded or something this is a normal occurrence and it serves you right.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9200 laptop. The specs are at the BOTTOM. While playing online games, my frame rate decreases by a lot.  Sometimes it picks up again, but for only about 2 seconds. I've pinged the websites and it seems as if I'm not loosing any data on the transfer.

I can't help you with that  , but I know that my friend has the same PROBLEM as you do and he also uses a Dell Inspiron.
 The experienced users on this forum will surely know something ? Because my friend would love a solution to this problem too  Is someone else using the same router as you?  They could be downloading something at times where the frame rates decrease, and rates increase when they are not downloading anything....Yeah. 8 other people. But there's is FINE. I usually game at y3.com. But yes, the other pc's work fine besides  mine. And mine is a better comp! Ok, well the games at Y3 are all flash games. A lot of things can lead to performance factors with flash.

1. Too many flash objects running at the same time. The most common culprit for this is social websites where people embed numerous flash objects on their profile, causing some systems to slow down. Have you got numerous pages open with lots of flash objects running?

2. Have you downloaded the latest version of flash? http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

3. Excessive programs open and running in addition to your browser? Close some.

4. Clear your browser cache.Depending on what you're doing, sometimes flash causes your browser to use high CPU % which slows down the flash thing that's working. At least I've had that a few times.Here are a few ideas:

1) MAKE sure your flash is up to date.
2) Open up task manager when you try to play and watch the processes and CPU %.
3) Try another browserIs your laptop plugged in to the wall (power) when you play?

Okay. I'm having trouble with my Sims:Makin' Magic
Everytime I start up the game
It runs for a minute then just closes
Everrrryytime
I tried adding  -w to the shortcut
but that didn't work, I tried the other option on the site (Disabling APG)
but I can't for some reason
and the only program they have for download to help is for Windows 98
and doesn't have a version for Windows XP
So..I'm stuck.
If anyone has any idea what I should do please tell me!!!

Also I just had my computer re-formatted recently
I thought whatever was interfering with the game would be gone
but I guess not

P.S. I'm not really a computer savvy person so you might need to explain things a bit

Okay, I changed my screen resolution to 800x600
and the color quality to highest 32 bit resolution
then I added  -nodx6 -skip_verify -skip_intro -w
to the Sims shortcut but still didn't work.
I downloaded the ivi_fix.zip
still nothing
I added -nosound to the shortcut
still nothing

For detailed explanations message me This perhaps is a hardware issue. Can you post your hardware specs on? I don't think that's the issue
I had it RUNNING perfectly fine for along time
like a year or more i believe so
but then just one day it started doing that
I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it but that didn't work
Ever SINCE it randomly shut off on me it's been doing that
I had my pc reformatted and it worked for like half an hour
then it just froze so i had close it now it's back to doing the same thing
opening then closing a minute later

Well, you certainly meet the system requirements of Prison Tycoon 4, and it says it runs on Vista.

First, open the device manager and see if there are any yellow '!' MARKS next to anything there, just to check that all of your device drivers are installed properly.

(To open the device manager in Vista, either right click on 'Computer' and select 'Properties', or go to Control PANEL -> System, then click 'Device Manager')

Any computer should be able to PLAYS sims 2. ah ok, thanks MUCH Note that those are minimum requirements.

For Vista, make sure you have a very good processor, at least a 2.4GHz single core with ~1.5GB RAM.

Windows needs at least 15% to run efficiently. Knowing that Maple Story filled up your hard drive must mean you are dangerously low on disk space.

That seems normal enough. Not sure why MapleStory displayed that error though. Then again, I'm not familiar with the game.

hello folks

i have been trying everthing i know or could find out to get my nascar heat racing game to work.
everything seems to work except the throttle, when i push throttle the rpms gos backwards (in the minus rpms range) i have tried a three joysticks and buttons on keyboard for throttle, have reinstalled over FOUR times CLEARING it out everywhere including the registry.
so i am thinking thay MAYBE its my system XP home, maybe i got a service disabled that i need to run nascar heat.
well anyway if one of you fine folks can help me out with this, this old MAN would appreciate it very much

i just downloaded it and installed it yesterday, and i haven't been able to play the new zombie map. every time it loads, it gets about a quarter of the way through and just crashes to the desktop. no error message, nothing. and when i try to GET back into the game, it gives me an error saying that it failed to close properly and asks me if i WANT to start the game in safe mode. i've tried loading the map like that, but it does the same thing. what the CRAP is going on?!You may need to download again and reinstall the patch, as it may not have applied properly. This will most likely require you to uninstall and reinstall the ENTIRE game, since most game PATCHES can't be removed once applied.

Also, as I said before, download the patch again too. There may have been an error in the file during download.

Whenever I play Starcraft ( Blizzard) My computer is continusly beeping like a siren until i exit out of Starcraft.

Hi, I have an Epson Scanner/ Printer which works ok, but I also have a few games that sometimes I wish to play and one of them being World in CONFLICT. The only prob is that when I wish to install the game and play a panel appears and STATES ` Epson scan cannot be started, do you want to troubleshoot`, so what I have to do each time is remove the COMPLETE Epson set up and then DOWNLOAD the game and then replace the Epson again. Recently I obtained "Duke In D.C" and "Life's a beach" legitimate (and one boxed) copy. No reprint.
They're going to be added to my shrine of manliness where I light candles EVERY day to celebrate Duke Nukem's manliness. lol, I really have to play through Duke3d again. Too bad there isn't monster infighting; but it does make sense that the aliens wouldn't fight each other.

Btw i still only have 2GB of ram right now Have you looked at the minimum requirements for these games?Yeah but from what most people are telling me I wont even be able to start the game up [GTA4] :sSo if most people are SAYING that.... I know a lot of those games are CPU intensive.  I would recommend spending a bit more if you can on the CPU.  Also, the core 2 duo is a much better processor if you can afford the upgrade.  Even if you get a lower end c2d, it could help. 

You should be fine on RAM with 2 GB to start, especially with XP.   Also, that is a lot of hard drive space.  You could cut one of those out to save money and buy a better cpu/video card.  Also, I don't think you will need a sound card for a budget pc.  Most users only get those when buying a REALLY good computer.  For a budget pc, the onboard sound should be fine.Mate I understand what your saying but you seem to know your stuff so buy a game that suits!! So I'm getting a budget gaming pc

My account was closed for investigation and I am attempting to appeal. Firstly I sent a message through Blizzard's support webform, but after receiving no reply, I wrote another mail and sent it to the address which notified me of the temporary account closure (GM team). I haven't received a reply from there either.

Where can I message them to be sure that they receive it? Their initial mail that notified me of the account closure said that I would receive their decision shortly, but I have not yet received it, and it's about 3-4 days ago now.
 I believe that their decision of banning me was unjust and I want to resolve this asap.All you can do is continue to wait or email their accounts department again. It often takes more than 3-4 days to receive a reply from them, especially when they're investigating your account.  What was their stated reason for closing your account?

I've seen temporary bans for harassment, attempting to find ways into areas of the game where players aren't supposed to go, or "unknowingly" taking advantage of a flaw in the game. I have rarely heard of them closing an account permanently without good reason though. The main reasons being knowingly exploiting a flaw in the game, repeated spam reports on your account, unauthorized third party programs (like bots and such), or gold buying.

There is a bit of "spyware" embedded in WoW that monitors what programs are running and reports violations to Blizzard. Blizzard even admitted to the existence of this feature about a year or so after WoW came out after it was discovered by someone.I was banned for naming my guild 'Pedobears'. If you don't know Pedobear, then I can TELL it's just an internet phenomena and a joke, and there was absolutely no HARM intended in naming my guild 'Pedobears'. Now I think that it would've been a more appropriate solution to the PROBLEM if they just messaged me in-game and said "Hey, you need to change your guild name" instead of just banning with no warning, telling me that they'll be replying shortly without actually doing so for days, so far.

Now they said that naming my guild Pedobears was highly sexually inappropriate and that would rank in the top offenses, but I have a spotless history of playing WoW. I've played for years, with one big break in between, without ever breaking their rules or getting suspended or warned in any way. They said they were going to investigate my account for previous offenses etc. and then decide after doing that.

But still... I am banned without a warning, my game-time is being spent and they're not replying to my appeals. Their customer service outright sucks.

Check out this website, if the game you are interested in is in their list of games to check, you can have the site analyze your computer to compare how your computer specs match up against the recommended and minimum game requirement.

I'm not exactly sure why, but I've never actually been able to get over 150kb/s downloads.. I have had 4 different brand new computers and a few different internet providers, yet still never broke that seemingly elusive barrier.

In the past few DAYS (yes, its taken that long) I have downloaded World of Warcraft, the TBC expansions, and all the patches up to 3.0.9. Now I need to get the WTLK expansion so that I can actually start playing again on my new computer. Problem is, the only download I could find was .rar and it goes at a somewhat steady 50kb/s. That is way too slow for me because at 209mb's downloaded, I still have to wait an estimated 1day 10hours. I was wondering if there was a way to finally break and even surpass the 150kb/s barrier, so that I do not spend the rest of my life downloading this expansion. I mean.. it's 6.5gb!! 

Anyway, my computer is a Dell Latitude D610. My ISP is AT&T, idk if that helps. Im using the newest version of firefox (not 3.1 beta for downloads) so it all goes through the handy dandy firefox download manager..YAY. =P

PLEASE HELP MAKE IT FASTER.

Go to CONTROL panel, and click on add/unistall. Find WOW and uninstall it. If that does not work, try deleting PHYSICALLY from the file itself. well there isnt much i deleted a folder really the only THING LEFT to delete is the uninstall and if i do that will i be able to uninstall it stillhelp pleaseUse Revo Uninstaller to remove the program and then re-install the program.
