Solve : Legend Of Mir Problem - Help?

Answer»

hey guys,

basically am a computer gaming freak lol. i love my cpu games and legendofmir is a game which i am quite attached to.

i have played several other games and i have had no problems with it so far... however, this is a legendofmir private server which has been running for some time now (good few years).

basically, my game wont run smoothly, its like am getting little lag spikes which wont let me attack full attack speed, no1 else seems to have this problem. my computer specifications meet the games, they are alot better. i just dont get why it wont run smoothly.

those are my cpu specs. someone must be able to help me   Quote

however, this is a legendofmir private server which has been running for some time now (good few years).

You're hosting a non-dedicated server on the same system you play on?

No wonder you're laggy, then.

What type of connection do you have?

Quote
those are my cpu specs.

You should really stop calling your PC "CPU" because it's not just a central processing unit. Neither are the specifications you showed us those of the CPU and games aren't called "CPU games" but simply PC games.  no am not hosting it, its a private server, i just play it.

the server itself is not laggy.

www.thelegendofmir.com - is the website for the game.

i am tryin to upload a video which clearly shows my problem, but uploads taking ages.i wil post the link to the video file and you will see what i mean as its really clear.

but thats as soon as its done -.-try running ccleaner, you can download it from here.

it pretty much just cleans your pc of junk and it works really well. You're not uploading or downloading ANYTHING while playing, right?

I don't need to see a video, I only need to know your full system specifications, the REQUIREMENTS of the game and if your computer is clean.i hope that attachment can help a little more :S i am not the best with cpu's, i only know how to play games lol.

Minimum Requirements for p69:

Window 9x or ME, Windows NT 4, Windows 2000, Celeron 300, 64 MB RAM, 2 MB Video Card, Direct Sound compatible card, Mouse Microsoft compatible, DirectX 3.0 or newer, 56k Modem.I'm pretty sure your computer spec is not the problem (though a LE with 512mb is questionable). What types of connection do these others who use the server have? Where do you live? What country do you live in and where is the server located? Try another server? Quote
I'm pretty sure your computer spec is not the problem (though a LE with 512mb is questionable). What types of connection do these others who use the server have? Where do you live? What country do you live in and where is the server located? Try another server?

thats just it tho, i no ppl who have worse pc's, alot worse than mine lol. who play this game and who dont have a single problem with it. its jst mine which is the stupid part of it all.

the server is located in the south of england, which shouldnt EVEN be a problem as my friends who live near by dont have a problem like mine. its just me.  i live in newcastle, and i know people who play this game from canada and they dont have a problem like mine...

i have played other servers and they run fine, its just this one, there is something which makes my game run slowwly and i dont know what. i even bought a new pc and the same problem occurs ( i didnt buy a new pc for this reason, i bought it because my other 1 had many problems with it lol)You haven't told us your connection type and speed. That seems to be the problem. Quote
You haven't told us your connection type and speed. That seems to be the problem.

im on broadband, 2 meg atm, using wireless. bt broadband.

Maybe some ingame settings are slowing you down since it doesn't happen to other games and you're on broadband..

Tr reinstalling or reconfiguring the game? Or you might want to try forwarding the PORTS on your router for this game to work, if you have one.http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=3701269116504098599

that clearly shows my problem
its liek my game just gets stuckThat lookd pretty darn smooth to me!!!
Are you talking about the guy walking or the guy hitting something in the background?!

CHRIS Quote
That lookd pretty darn smooth to me!!!
Are you talking about the guy walking or the guy hitting something in the background?!

Chris

Looks smooth to me as well.

If you ask me, it's just a bad looking game that doesn't use a lot of frames for character action because they're sprites and not 3D models.

Solve : Best Graphics Ever.?

Answer»

I was just wondering, out of all the PC games made to date what do you think has the best graphics?

well, considered the industries absolute leader in computer quality and user responses, the guy at WALMART told me "Oblivion".....  thats what I heard anyway but my crappy video card wouldn't give it much justice!
  Quote

I was just wondering, out of all the PC games made to date what do you think has the best graphics?

The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, without a doubt.
There is NO graphics card that can run that game on maximum detail outdoors at 60 FPS, even dual card solutions cant do that. Only thing that can is Xbox 360.. and i have a hard time believing that it has the same image quality on the Xbox 360, even though its a console..even on the 360 the game lags, and the graphis freeze, but it does look absolutely beautifulOblivion.
FEAR.
Or possibly Dark messiah which is released soon. I GOT into the Beta and its GFX Pwnz.Myst has always been prerendered right?  Doesnt count

I'd have to say Oblivion too.  FEAR.  I think Far Cry deserves mention too. Quote

yea was thinking the same thing xD
Isn't is a little bizarre that the best current video card can't play it at peak performance? Sounds like some great coding there. Did Microsoft lend a hand?   Quote

no cuz if they did then it would crash RANDOMLY and give you random error messages..

the graphics on that game are awsome thou

Solve : WinRar Images?

Answer»

i've done this befor, running a winrar file through deamon tools as an image usualy works but i just downloaded a 3 gig compressed image, i decompressed it and WITHIN that i foud another zipped file that WONT decompres any further. "no archives found" but i know its there its 3.66 gig so i know its not EMPTY, is there some way i crack it open and have a look see inside?Several complicating factors:

1) Daemon tools

2) WinRAR

3) The other compressed file format. What is the extension for the FILES after you used WinRAR?

What is the final product supposed to be?You need to unpack them in a logical sequence if they're broken into several pieces.

Solve : Dos game requires more buffer memory?

Answer»

Hi all,

I dont know much about computers, just an honest bloke wanting a BIT of retro gaming.
Tried installing and running XCOM APOCALYPSE. (MS-DOS) During the computer diagnostic the installer states my system has files & buffers at 40/0 when it needs to be 20/20. It suggested me adjusting this in my config.sys file but im running windows XP HOME so i dont know if there may be a modern altenative?

Anyhow i took a look at my config.sys file by typing in "sysedit" in Run but there wasnt any text there at all, nor in the autoexec.bat file. Is this as it should be and i need to FIND an alternative fix or has the config.sys file been tampered with by perhaps my brother and i need to rebuild it?

Any INFO required please ask as i dont know what infos required. Thanks.

Solve : Battlefield 2 Battlecommo not working.?

Answer»

Hey there.

When I try to use the Battlecommo feature in BF2... it won't work. I've got all the settings correct, but nothing will fix it. My mic won't EVEN record in the BattleCommo test in the BF2 folder.

I'm STARTING to think its got something to do with my Hardware, I've got a Motherboard with Realtek audio set up  on it. The reason for my suspicion is that when I go to my windows device volume, the Mic volume is grayed out, along with the line in. Though, My mic will work fine in VENTRILO or Teamspeak.

Thanks.
Miketry reinstalling sound DRIVERS maybe?

here it is.  http://files.filefront.com//;7633836;;/The relevant information, for anyone concerned, is this.
P4 2.4GHz.
ATI Radeon 9200SE AGP 128Mb.
512Mb RAM.

A few seconds searching reveals this.
Minimum requirements:
    * Intel Pentium® III 800 MHz or AMD Athlon 800 MHz
    * 512 MB or more of RAM
    * 32 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as NVIDIA® GeForce™ 2 class card or above
    * DirectX® 9.0c (included) and latest video drivers
    * 6.0 GB available HD space
    * 4x CD-ROM drive
    * A 56k or better Internet connection

Recommended requirements:
    * Intel Pentium® IV 1.5 GHz or AMD XP 1500+ MHz
    * 1024 MB RAM
    * 64 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as NVIDIA® GeForce™ FX 5700 class card or above
    * Broadband Internet connection
    * Two-button scroll-wheel mouse

It will run, but not very well.
A better graphics card would help a lot, more RAM would help a little too but the graphics card is the main factor here.

Solve : Improved "new" g5 gaming mouse?

Answer» Found this fishing this MORNING ~  ( is this on the MARKET yet? anyone have this and is it an improvement over a g5 ? )

 http://gmn.wz.cz/g5v2.JPG

"quote"

After ALOT of complaints about the missing second thumb-button, Logitech have finally come to their senses.
The G5 V2 is in fact a G5 with a new exterior (maybe an anti-slip surface?) and the extra thumb-button that we know from the MX510 and the MX518. The button can be very usefull in games or for exploring the INTERNET (Back/Forward on mouse).
It will cost around 60 euros and it will be launched within a short period of time, maybe even at Cebit.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/archive/index.php/t-136622.htmlLooks good.
Makes me wish I'd waited for a while so I could have got this new version rather than the one I have.Lol, nice mouse.

Solve : downloading Glest problems?

Answer»

Trying to download a legal free game from cnet, called Glest, and after set-up I get a message that open GL extension is not supported.  I am running XP on a Toshiba Satellite 2415, about 5 yrs old.  Had a reference to a texture crossbar, and OBVIOUSLY I am clueless.  Thanks for any SUGGESTIONS.  I live in Costa RICA and it is hard to find disc games to purchase, we depend on downloads.dude i think it means your laptop can't support the 3d aspects of this game  Update your video card drivers, that may help. Thanks for the input, I finally figured out that NVIDIA is too old to support open GL, will just stick to the boring Myst til I can get some CDS from the states.Your video card is probably too old then.
Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about that.thanks for the input, at any rate, it is a learning EXPERIENCE!

Solve : Freezing in games..?

Answer»

Hi
I'm hoping you can help me.
I have a problem where in some games I play it freezes for around 10 seconds then the sound loops, after a while it stops and I can play properly again. It does this usually once or twice. AFTERWARDS the game seems to run fine. It's annoying to say the least, especially in online games.
Also when it happens there isn't any hard drive loading activity so I don't think it's that. Any IDEAS? Thanks!
I have an idea.

If you actually post some information about your HARDWARE, operating system and which game(s) you might get some worthwhile suggestions.

All we know for sure is that you have a computer. See below. Aha, yes of course.
Specs:
AthlonX2 3800
Galaxy 7600GT
Tagan 480w PSU
Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G Mobo
WD Caviar 80gb SATA-2 HD
Windows XP Home

So far it's happened in Oblivion, Dawn of War and Flatout 2. I have noticed ANOTHER weird thing when I play flatout 2 online. When it does the freezing thing, the game i'm in ends leaving only me in the game. Update your video CARD drivers.
1. Download new drivers but do not install them.
2. Uninstall old drivers.
3. Reboot.
4. Install new drivers.
5. Reboot.

If that doesn't help, check the case for dust and clean it if necessary, observing standard precautions.

What happened before this started and what protection do you have? Thanks alot Calum, that seemed to to do the trick. I did what you said and also ran driver cleaner. I must have had the wrong driver installed or something. Cheers Nice, glad you got it sorted and thanks for posting back.
Seems it was a driver issue, happens occasionally to everyone.
Post back if you have any more issues.

Solve : Can only play Age Of Mythology Once!?

Answer»

I've Installed Age Of Mythology the day before yesterday.
It worked well that day now today I want to play it and after the 2 movies I get the error message: "Initializing failed!"
If I remove the program and run Ccleaner at the ISSUE part afterwards.
The reinstall it than I can play it but if I reboot my PC then I get the error message again.
How is this POSSIBLE?
What can I do about it?
I would give you more info if I had it.

Jonas I know this can be much but I'll everything you suggest and I'll keep you up-to-date.

Jonas were there any corrupted files before you reinstalled it?No I THINK that they are removed by Ccleaner and CHKDSK.

Jonas I've found a breakthrough.
AOM has a a mode where you can play Without the sound.
That Works fine.
Sow I think that it is my sound program that CREATES the error.
I use SOUNDMAX Digital Audio.
I don't know how I can give you more info about that but if you need more info just tell me how I get to that info and I'll give it to you.
I Also suggest a mod move this to software because now it isn't any more about the game but about my sound program.

Solve : Van Buren?

Answer» http://fallout.bethsoft.com

http://3ddownloads.com/nma-fallout/fo3/misc/Demo.rar

If you're not a fan of the Fallout series, these links won't mean much to you.

If you are a fan of the Fallout series, these links need no explanation.Rock on! Have to try that!

Quote
This tech demo is not related to any product that has ever been released or will ever be released by Bethesda STUDIOS.

So.. ? Fallout 3 was recently picked up by Bethesda.  That tech demo is a look into the project when it was being designed by the original Black Isle team before it was scrapped.  So, basically, that version of the game will probably never be released, and it's only available to make Fallout fans cry and hate the world.  But if you like it, you should check out Fallout and Fallout 2 (ignore the crappy spin-offs).

People have been waiting for this game for about 9 years, so it's exciting to have it get picked up by someone, but we're all scared that it'll be just like Oblivion.Boy, I was playing and building maps for Fallout: Tactics when you were still chasing girls on the schoolyard!

I am proud to say I got banned several times from the Interplay forums for harassing Americans  (One in particular, hehe).

Didn't like Fallout 2, though, it was horribly broken and didn't have the solid feeling Fallout 1 had. (Talking Deathclaws? A super-robot/mutant protecting the president?)

Fallout Tactics was neat, though. Good interpretation of what a strategy game would be like in the Fallout universe. Oh, so you're familiar with the series!  I like you more and more each day, Raptor, ol' chap.

Fallout Tactics is actually where I started.  I got the demo when it first came out and I really enjoyed it.  Then a friend let me borrow Fallout and Fallout 2 and they were just ten times better in my eyes.

I'll agree that FO2 doesn't have the same feeling as the first, but I still love it to death.  Just be glad that they took out the city of talking raccoons.  Heh.  I wish they would've left in the EPA and Vipers, though.

I've come to dislike Tactics somewhat because of the inaccuracies, but for what it is, it's a good game.  Brotherhood of Steel for X-Box, though, is just pure *censored*.  Ninja robot ghouls?!  Doesn't make any sense!

As buggy as it's been over the years, I hope Bethesda decides to use the FO engine (I believe they were revamping it somewhat for FO3) instead of going with the Oblivion engine.  There's so little solid info right now and everything is just speculation and rumors.  Everyone's making me worried that we'll lose that familiar feel and atmosphere...Unless they want sprites and draw everything by hand, they are going to go for a different kind of engine I guess..

I never played the X-box version, it sounded really crappy.

Ever played Wasteland? Actually, I believe Project Van Buren was using 3D models instead of sprites.  I could be wrong about that, though.

And yes, I've got a copy of Wasteland on my computer.  How 'bout you?  It's not the best game around (despite all of the acclaim), but I THINK it was pretty good for its time.  Having to refer to the script constantly is a bit of a pain, though.  Perhaps I should try playing all the way through sometime this week.  And I need to start looking for Fountain of Dreams and maybe even the beta version of Meantime that was released.I played for  10 minutes (wasteland) and got bored. Guess I SHOULDA googled for the script. Ha, yeah, that might help.  If you ever decide to play again, I've got a copy that I can send you.  Shouldn't be too HARD to find, though.Send away! I'll get the script to you as soon as I can.  CH isn't letting me upload it right now because it's apparently full.  And I'm just too tired/lazy right now to upload it to a file host.Alrighty, Nathan took care of that, so I can go ahead and post it now.  The formatting is a little off, but it's still EASY to read.

[cleaning up - attachment deleted by admin]Wow...I finally played the tech demo last night and it sucked.  It's like a crapped-out version of Tactics.  Unless Bethesda secretly loves me very much and decides to use the old FO engine, I have very low hopes for this game.  I will now go weep like a man.

Solve : Source games freezing...?

Answer»

Ok, so Im NEW here, and after endless searching for an answer, Ive had to come and ask here for and answer, cause this is driving me insane!

Before I list my COMPUTER specs, understand that it CAN handle Counter Strike: Source and has before along with Lord of the Rings Online and many others.
Ok, I have
Windows XP Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

Pentium 3 933 MHZ Processor
640 MB RAM
128 MB NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX 4000
Hard Drive is IBM DLTA
And I dont know my what my Sound Card is.

Anywho, the problem is, that when I go to play on Counter Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source or Half Life 2, opens, and if youve played them you know when it loads it says "Retrieving SERVER Info" and then goes to "Sending Client Info".
Well, it goes through "Retrieving Server Info" fine, and then goes to "Sending Client Info" it starts loading, but then when its 2 bars away from being completly loaded, BOOM, my computer completly freezes.

Ive checked everywhere and everything I can think of. When I had Windows 2000 just about a month ago, CSS ran perfectly, and I NEVER had this problem whatsoever. But then I installed XP and it started happening. Ive uninstalled it and reinstalled it about 5 times now...but nothings changed.
Ive checked the Virtual Memory and many other things. Hopefully someone here can help me!

Thanks.I don't know if they use punkbuster but have you tried to update your  punkbuster ?

Solve : StarCraft MMO?

Answer»

The long-rumoured new instalment of Blizzard's massive StarCraft series is set to be unveiled later this month - and it's another massively-multiplayer online game in the style of World of Warcraft, CVG learns.

Link to story

If true would be good and bad news for all us WOW addicts and/or StarCraft fans.Actually, I might PLAY that. I REALLY, really LIKE sci-fi games. I like Starcraft, but I'm not sure I'd play an MMO version. So is this going to be an MMORPG or a MMORTS? Going to probably be MMORPG I'd imagine with RTS elements. But I couldn't see them doing a MMO like the traditional RTS games.i cant waitI'm still an active SC player, this'll be awesome I never played StarCraft!
is it like warcraft?Sort of.
But you get guns and spaceships,  tanks and stuff instead of swords and archers.
It's a fantastic game, you should really get it.
I picked up Starcraft and the EXPANSION, Brood Wars, for about £5, so it's cheap too.So, any more news on this subject? Not yet, but I anticipate soon, with how Blizzards website is changing daily showing you a time line of the history of their games each day.

http://www.blizzard.com/I had a look on their website, couldn't find any reference to it.

What do you mean 'daily'? Each day they're changing the main page of all Blizzard related pages to talk about a product they've done in the past. The *speculation* is that at the end of the product line will be the announcement of the next product (more than likely StarCraft MMO or StarCraft 2). Because today's splash screen is the introduction of WoW (2004) I think the announcement will be within the next day or so because apart from the expansion pack for WoW there has been no other games.

Examples of Blizzard splash pages, every Blizzard associated page has been having these splash pages over the last few days.

http://www.blizzard.com/
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/
http://www.wow-europe.com/

Also a page for http://www.starcraft2.com, however for now just forwarding to Blizzard's main page.
Well looks like it will in fact be an RTS, the StarCraft II site is up, trailer and SCREENSHOTS look great.

http://www.starcraft2.com/

Can't wait!  Just cant wait, this'll be a great game, it's got some big shoes to fill.

Dear users
Game crashes after black screen what's the trouble What OS are you using?
What are your system specs?
And did it install OK?And what happened prior to this? Etc.?

See below. You not reading through EA's FAQ and database, that's the problem. Dear Users
My Spec are as follows
CPU= 2.0 GHz
Ram= 256 Mb
VGA= 128 Geforce 5 Quote from: RAPTOR on May 20, 2007, 11:04:39 AM

You not reading through EA's FAQ and database, that's the problem.

Appart from having a PC that is barely suitable for running Battlefield: Vietnam you have another problem: See above. Basically, your PC is not powerful enough to RUN BF2142.
Upgrade your PC or return the game. And be sure and look on the box at the fine print that says "System Requirements".Ouch.  Sorry, extreme, but you're gonna have to spend a decent amount of money if you want to play this game on your COMPUTER.  Your RAM and video card just don't cut it.  You have trouble returning an opened game, though.  Have you got a friend with a more powerful machine? One thing guys; that game WILL run without crashing, it's not just the system specifications.. Um... can you say vista? I can't wait till I get my 7600 gt and go through all the troubles this game brings when I finally get to play it.

Solve : bypass?

Answer»

hi everyone. does anyone play warrock?
in the game they have punkbuster. does anyone know how to make bypasses or has a good bypass that works cause most bypasses only WORK for like 3-4 min and you get caught. IS it even legal to make bypasses to punkbuster? do not get this wrong im not a person that uses hacks to get a higher level. ACTUALY i got to lv. 15 by myself, its just that it GETS booring sometimes especially when other people hack and you CANT do nothing.   Although I believe this can be done, I'm really not SURE if we're allowed to help with this sort of thing.  It's a bit of a gray area. That's illegal and immoral.
Don't try it, you'll only get caught.
Remember, you only cheat yourself in the end.

Solve : World Of Warcraft - Offline Gaming?

Answer»

Does anyone know if anyone has come up with any mods yet to allow for gaming without having to be connected to Battlenet for World of Warcraft???

I enjoy the game, but cant see having to pay out constantly to play it since I might play it once a week. At least if I was to be sold a Coin-OP software package the price should have been less than $40. But Blizzard is charging the full price of a game, plus a Coin-OP charge to be able to operate the software. Before WOW, I was a Warcraft 1 & 2, and Diablo 1 and 2, and Starcraft player. Played the games so much that actually burned out a CD Rom and wore out some keyboards and MICE.

I enjoyed the fact that they could be played both on and offline. So I am asking if anyone knows of any mods or anything like that than can be downloaded to run the game stand ALONE or on a LAN with one system as a server and the other as the client gaming system???

Hopefully Microsoft WONT think that selling software, then Coin-OPing it is a good idea, because next thing you know you will have a computer with Windows and will have to pay $200 to 300 for the OS then a useage fee like a Coin-OP!!!

Thanks

Dave Actually they would PREFER to sell you an install CD and then a yearly update charge to keep it running, like Norton, etc.I know tools like that exist, but I don't see the point being as your "offline/lan" charector couldn't go online, and the game is not designed to be played with just one human, or indeed a handful.Just play on cracked servers if you can find any... HOPE you like the cheaters.  There is no offline play for WOW, would be hard to do single player when you get higher levels that require multiple people and/or healing. However as Raptor said you can play on servers users have setup outside of Blizzard. You would however need the game to do this. Although not quite the same as WOW there are several alternative MMORPG games that are free or free to play.

GuildWars of course is the popular game right now. Has a lot of similarities of WOW and other games, however is 100% free to play online.
http://www.guildwars.com/

Also dozens of other free MMORPG's:
http://www.google.com/search?q=free+mmorpg&ie=UTF-8You could also try Diablo II: LoD.
It's a pretty fun MMORPG, gets sort of repetetive though, but hey, it's still pretty fun. You've got to buy the game itself, but the online play is supported by Battle.Net, and is free. It also has Single Player, and you can take your Single Player characters on a seperate type of Battle.net called 'Open Battle.net'. It isn't monitored by blizzard so, so prepare to see some crazy shiat if you play it

Answer»

Hi guys!
Im making a video of me playing GTA san andreas and im using fraps.
Now im gonna extract the sound from a top gear episode and record in gta the exact same camera angels and same car and so on.
So when i have RECORDED one scene, i go back to windows and wath the next scene of the episode so i can then go back to gta and record it, But, when i have watched a bit of the top gear episode and want to go back to the GAME, my system reboots.. VERY anoying..
Can anyone help me plz?
FilluXI'm assuming you're running Windows XP. It's likely you're encountering an error and Windows is AUTOMATICALLY restarting because of that error. To help determine the cause of the problem it would be helpful to see what the error is. I suggest you disable the auto restart by following the below steps and then GET what the error is and either search for it and/or post what it is on the forums and we'll go from there.

   1.  From the desktop right click on My Computer.
   2. Click the Properties option.
   3. In the System Properties window click the Advanced tab.
   4. In Advanced click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery.
   5. In the Startup and Recovery window uncheck the Automatically restart check box.
   6. Click Ok.
I did that, but i havent tried it yet, will do it tomorow. I hope it works

Thanx very much!

Solve : Review: Dell laptop will please Hard-core Gamers?

Answer»
(CNET.comexternal link) -- Say what you will about market leader Dell (and many have), but with its top-shelf XPS line, the company has consistently put out distinctive laptops that feature the most advanced components on the market.

Despite its recent acquisition of niche player Alienware, Dell sticks to the script with the newest iteration of its flagship gaming laptop. With the XPS M1710, the company adds just a few aesthetic curlicues to the same basic form factor found on Dell's other 17-inch wide-screen models, upgrades to Intel's Core Duo PLATFORM, and drops in Nvidia's new top-shelf GeForce Go 7900 GTX GPU.

The unsurprising result: an extremely pricey system that extends the company's dominance of our gaming benchmark tests and solidifies Dell's reputation as the vendor to beat in the gaming laptop market. If you're a hard-core gamer who's looking to play the newest games (Oblivion, F.E.A.R.) at the highest settings, this is the best system that (a lot of) money can buy.

Otherwise, there are plenty of much less expensive but still powerful alternatives, such as the Toshiba Satellite P105-S921 (Read reviewexternal link) and the Gateway NX850XL (Read reviewexternal link).

Aside from our test unit's Special Edition Formula Red cover (it's also available in METALLIC Black), the XPS M1710's design is nearly identical to that of the previous model, the XPS M170, and very similar to the more multimedia-focused Inspiron E1705. (Well, except for all of the glowing lights: the XPS M1710 can emit shafts of light in any one of 16 colors from its lid, side vents, and speaker vents.)

Crafted out of sturdy and stylish magnesium alloy, the XPS M1710 measures 15.5 inches wide, 11.3 inches deep, and 1.6 inches thick. Our test unit weighed 8.8 pounds (10.2 pounds with its AC adapter) -- a few ounces more than the Gateway NX850XL, but nearly 1.5 pounds more than the compact Toshiba Satellite P105. The XPS M1710 is certainly easier to move than a desktop gaming rig, and it's portable enough for room-to-room movement, but we don't recommend it for regular travel.

The XPS M1710 includes a full-size keyboard, though it lacks a separate number pad, as found on some other desktop replacements, such as the Satellite P105-S921, the HP Pavilion dv8000, and the Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV600. The XPS M1710's mouse buttons are very big, however, and the touch pad, which features a backlit XPS logo, is adequately sized. The touch pad also has arrows running along its right and bottom edges, outlining where to place your FINGER when using the software-enhanced pad to scroll through documents or Web pages.

Like most of the other models in the XPS and Inspiron lines, the XPS M1710 features Dell's MediaDirect software, which plays CDs and DVDs and lets you access photos and other media files stored on your hard drive without booting up Windows first. The two speakers and the internal subwoofer -- a rare feature among laptops -- deliver crisp and rich sound. Better yet, because the speakers sit in the corners of the laptop's front edge, your hands won't muffle them while you're typing, and you can play music with the lid closed.

Sandwiched between the speakers, a row of seven buttons lets you control DISC playback and adjust or mute the volume. Though the XPS M1710 runs Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005, it lacks the integrated TV tuner found on more expensive systems, such as the Qosmio G35-AV600, the Fujitsu LifeBook N6210, and the Sony VAIO AX570G. Dell sells an external, PC Card tuner for approximately $150, however.

Our XPS M1710 test unit came equipped with a reasonably bright, 17-inch wide-screen display; we love its superfine WUXGA 1,900x1,200 native resolution; Dell says that the XPS M1710's display is 30 percent brighter than the M170's. While we found it slightly brighter than the Inspiron E1705's display, we still prefer the superbright screens on the VAIO AX, the LifeBook N6210, and the Pavilion dv8000, though none of those models offer the gaming performance of the XPS M1710.

There's no dearth of ports, jacks, or slots here: the XPS M1710 features headphone and microphone jacks, VGA and DVI outputs, S-Video-out, four-pin FireWire, and a whopping six USB 2.0 ports. Networking connections include a 56Kbps modem, 10/100/100 GIGABIT Ethernet, optional Bluetooth, and integrated 802.11a/b/g wireless. Also onboard are an ExpressCard slot and a 5-in-1 media card reader; PC Card users, take note that the XPS M1710 does not support PCMCIA cards. (For the sake of comparison, the Toshiba Satellite P105-S921 has all of this, plus it supports PC Cards and SmartMedia cards and has an S/PDIF output, though it has two fewer USB 2.0 ports.)

Finally, our XPS M1710 test unit included a multiformat, double-layer DVD drive. Dell bundles a standard software package, including Microsoft Windows XP Media Center.

At $4,215,    our Dell XPS M1710 test unit came configured with the most high-end parts money can buy: Intel's top-of-the line 2.16GHz Core Duo processor, 2GB of fast 666MHz DDR2 SDRAM, and a big, fast 100GB hard drive spinning at 7,200rpm. Our XPS M1710 test unit was also stocked with Nvidia's GeForce Go 7900 GTX GPU, with 512MB of dedicated memory, and was, at the time that this review published, the first and only system to feature the new card, though more will surely follow soon.

The Toshiba Satellite P105-S921 costs much less: for $1,999, you get a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 1GB of 333MHz DDR2 SDRAM, a 160GB, 4,200rpm hard drive, and a lower-end but still powerful Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GS GPU with 256MB of dedicated memory.

As with past XPS models, the XPS M1710 destroyed CNET Labs' gaming benchmarks. In our Doom 3 test, it delivered 25 percent more frames per second (fps) than the XPS M170; with F.E.A.R., it notched 72fps compared with the XPS M170's 44. That said, the XPS M1710's SysMark scores were in line with those of the other 2.16GHz Core Duo systems we've reviewed (including the HP Pavilion dv8000t and the Acer TravelMate 8200), so unless you're a hard-core gamer who needs absolute top-shelf equipment to play new, demanding games, such as Oblivion or F.E.A.R., there are far less expensive options out there.

In our battery drain test, the XPS M1710 lasted for 154 minutes, about the same as the previous model and decent battery life for a desktop replacement.

Though Dell has moved to a 90-day warranty on its less expensive models, the company covers the XPS M170 with an industry-standard one-year warranty, which provides free parts and labor with mail-in service. For a $4,000 notebook, we think Dell should offer a longer support contract; and the upgrades are fairly pricey: a four-year warranty with at-home service, which Dell recommends, costs about $340. You can get help through Dell's 24/7, toll-free telephone line for as long as you own the laptop.

Dell offers a special tech-support number exclusively for XPS owners, staffed by reps who can provide help with the latest games and technologies. The company also has a support Web site with downloads, FAQs, and hardware-specific user forums.

Solve : Battlefield 1942 Widescreen Problems?

Answer»

I can't get BF42 WORKING properly on widescreen. I went to the config files, changed all of them to 1440X900. The resolution is correct, HOWEVER everything is still stretched. I read on some other websites that the map and HUD still look stretched but the stuff in the game doesn't. For me everything is still stretched.Try these steps, need to edit more than one file and make sure you set the config files to read-only otherwise it may reset the files.

http://www.widescreengamer.com/b/battlefield_1942.html

If that doesn't work what video card are you using?

That's exactly what I did, everything is set to read-only and I edited all those files. The resolution is correct but everything is stretched and ugly. The video card is nVidia GeForce 6150 SE and the monitor is HP w1907I did some additional research and unfortunately did not come up with anything. My only other thought would be to try a smaller widescreen resolution such as 1360 x 768.

If any other members have suggestions feel free to make them and/or anyone have this installed with this setup please try it SEE if you can get it to work.I tried 1280X800, but everything still looks stretched. Also, how do you enable anti-aliasing in this game?

Solve : S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Shadow over Chernobyl?

Answer»

Anyone tried it yet? Came out today, 57% finished. I'll buy it as soon as I know how good multiplayer is. Will have to beat Battlefield 2142 or else it's a no-go for me. Heck, maybe I'll STAY home tomorrow to play it.Aha, Raptor returns.never heard of it... sorry I've heard of it but I'm not sure about buying it.
I'd be interested to know what people think of it.
I'm also not sure about the requirements, I'll check them out later on.
I want to be able to play it if I do get it.
I agree, multiplayer must be good (equal to or better than BF2142) or it's not worth it for me.It's enjoyable, but somehow it reminds me of World of Warcraft. You walk around gathering items and artifacts, there is a lot of 'randomness' in the mobs and the world is quite alive but somehow a bit predictable ( As usual with unscripted material).

One thing I like is that storyline characters can die without you getting STUCK. Sometimes this happens a bit inadvertently and I end up reloading because since its my first time playing and I don't really want to miss out on anything.

The world is extremely nice and it runs very well on my 7900GT/2048MB DDR RAM/XP Athlon 3200 2.4Ghz with most settings set to max at 1024x786... I'm guessing the game will become more exciting as I progress further into the urban jungle, tired of looking at hills allready...

Interface is buggy, using the map is a nightmare and the PDA where your mission objectives are on isn't always that clear either. Besides that, you always have 24 hours to finish a 'randomly' generated mission. This is probably to give you a sense of time (There is a real day/night cycle!) but since you always get exactly 24 hours, it feels rather fake.

I'm not sure if I'll buy it, it's got Deathmatch, Teamdeathmatch and Capture the artefact (How original). I was hoping it would feature a co-operation mode which would have MADE this game the most addicting FPS since Doom, but unfortunately, even though it took so many years to complete they completely failed in the multiplayer department. Unless DM and TDM are interesting, but if it doesn't come anywhere near Battlefield I'm not quite interested..

Other than that; the weapons aren't too exciting, I read you can upgrade them, though. The items you can get can be interesting, some have mutated DUE to the anomalies and you can equip artifacts that have a down and an up side which is adds an RPG side to the game.

The storyline so far has failed to grasp me, apparently you're a stalker who was left behind for dead and you end up on this body truck that is hit by a lightning bolt, truck gets blown up, some stalker finds you and brings you to a trader for whom you'll be doing jobs until your debt is repaid. Not the most catchy storyline but perhaps it'll unfold and become more interesting....Sounds fairly good I guess.
I'll wait for a while anyway.
If the game runs OK on your system I guess it'll run OK on mine, on lower settings though.I'm interested in checking this out.  Is there a demo available anywhere?  I'm not finding one on the official sites. No official demo was ever released for it although there are some stripped-down multiplayer deathmatch versions floating around that were used as beta tests. I don't recommend them though if you really want a feel for the game in actual play.

All in all I would have to say that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-Shadow of Chernobyl (SSoC for short) is one of the most enjoyable and compelling games that I have ever played. There are a lot of bugs in the engine that are going to take some re-reworking, and the first official patch was released only a few weeks after the game hit retail, which might give some idea of how many little things are still somewhat rough around the edges. Nevertheless there is already a rather large modding community spawning around the game and shows a lot of promise for future expansion. The first official patch (v. 1.0.0.1) fixes most of the playability bugs from the release but there is still quite a ways to go... It certainly wasn't released prematurely (I personally waited patiently for several years as the release date was pushed back time and time again and 'vapourware' rumors began to spread) but I would have to say that it was released before it could be as streamlined as folks might expect it to be.

The most valuable part of the game itself is its potential for expansion through mods and the vast amount of (as-of-yet) undetailed areas within the official game zone itself (spanning a N-S region of approximately 30 km.) I believe that its combination of FPS and more conventional role play, along with the decidedly challenging LEVEL of AI seen in opponents will set a new standard for future applications in the genre.

In other words... Ya. I dig the game...Sounds like we've got ourselves a spokesperson.  In any case, I'm still interested in checking this out if I ever get a chance. Quote

Nice way of quoting the developers promises. Promises they never kept.

STALKER was a failure, just another FPS game with fancy graphics.

Ah see, that's a question i don't like answering (it makes me sound "not so professional"). we don't ACTUALLY have a website, and we're not really a company. we're completely fully funded ( desert winds... ) and it will be some time before we think of MAKING a website. Then how will you generate a fanbase or have people contact you? lol i'm on here aren't i? we don't really need a fanbase or anything flash yet, it's still the beginning of the PROJECT, when necessary, game testers are easy enough to find and then you start making a fanbase

Solve : Video games: The Elder Scrolls IV?

Answer»

Game: The ELDER Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Played on: PlayStation3

Rating: M (mature)

Beware The Elder Scrolls. You'll lose sleep, get drowsy at work and stay up till dawn glued to the controller and TV. Simply put: Elder Scrolls is not a game. It's a lifestyle.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion throws the player into a rich world with seemingly infinite choices. Where you go, what you do and how your character develops is entirely up to you. The number of hours played will exceed any other role-playing game out there.

But you know what? You'll stick with it because it's simply that good.

The wildly popular role-playing series has made its entry onto the PlayStation3 after enjoying much success and many accolades on the PC and Xbox 360. That's good news for PS3 fans hungry for a quality RPG to come out for Sony's flagship console.

Oblivion starts out with the hero or heroine, your average medieval peasant, in prison. The emperor enters your cell with bodyguards in tow, but is ambushed by would-be assassins. He and you escape, leaving you free to explore the tunnels beneath the prison (you'll fight rats and the occasional assassin). Later, you reunite with the emperor and choose between searching for his heir or exploring the rich world that developer Bethesda Softworks has created.

Either way, you win.

Gamers familiar with The Elder Scrolls in its previous incarnations can expect more of the same on the PS3. The look and feel of the game are top-notch, an all-around winner. The controls, which offer a first-person perspective, are easy to master. The sound, with the right speakers and home audio system, is awesome.

Whittle away the hours

It cannot be emphasized enough: Elder Scrolls can easily suck up endless hours out of your day and week. That's because there is so much to do in the game. There's the main quest, which will easily take double-digit hours to complete, as well as dungeons, far-away cities and PEOPLE who need a helping hand or a knock on the head.

Gamers have two chances to personalize and detail their character at the start of their adventures. From the eyes to the hair to the varied professions and classes, it's all there. And if don't want green scales and a lizard's mouth, you can change before you leave the underground tunnels for the outside world. But choose wisely because after that point, there's no turning back.

That applies to skills and professions too. If your hero is a fighter, but you like to sneak through hallways, try being a thief. Like throwing big fireballs at guys on horseback? Then some kind of wielder of magic is probably the right choice.

Characters improve their skills by using them. If you need agility or endurance, you'll find yourself running and jumping all over the place. It can be annoying, but that's also what makes The Elder Scrolls IV appealing and realistic. Do you think Tiger Woods makes all of those shots by lying in BED?

There's really not an easy point or time to stop playing Oblivion, and there's not much bad to say about the title, which will grab you and never lose your interest. All PS3 owners should check out The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – with one caveat. Just keep telling yourself: It's only a game ... It's only a game .

Is the ps3  really worth all that  $$$  ?No, it's not. Quote

Is the ps3  really worth all that  $$$
Thats one of the reasons why it sucks......
It's like half the price of a laptop. I saw in the news Sony tried to copy the Wii's remote control movement thing and failed. Quote
It's like half the price of a laptop.
Huh?
PS3 = £400+.
Laptop = £20.20 pounds? Go get me one, Calum, I'll pay you back later on! If you really want it . . . by £20 I meant a 1 year old laptop with a few kb of RAM and a 286 or something equally outdated.
I was trying to say that people need to qualify their statements, I guess Carbon meant a gaming laptop or something, but even then an £800 laptop can't match a PS3 for gaming.I was thinking an average, work related laptop.........maybe 1gz 512ram 80gbYes, but what does the price of a work related laptop have to do with a PS3?I honestly have no idea......

ANYWAYS...i prefer the Wii or Xbox Elite Edition than PS3Personally, I think Wii is getting real old real fast.

Solve : high ping on Counter Strike?

Answer»

I have a Qwest DSL connection and when i play counterstrike:Source my ping is around 30-60, however, when my friend who lives just a few streets away MAKES a game my ping goes up to like 120. Is there anyway to get it down by messing with the config.cfg  or by messing with my network places or anything? thanks
High ping tends to be down to your DSL provider and to the best of my KNOWLEDGE there is not much you can do about it.

You say is about 30-60, is that for a big server? It all depends on what time you are online how many people are online with your ISP, How many people are int he server your playing in, Where the server is in the WORLD ,What you have running in the back ground.

There's nothing much you can do.

R0SSFrom what i can gather your saying that your friend makes a server on his computer. If this is correct then your ping is BOUND to go up really high, un LESS they are have super computer. For a good low ping game you need a server that is in you country and isnt a "Dedicated" Server which runs on someones computer.
Hope this helps
C}{r1$shut down any unnessicary programs in the backround. It frees up the cpu, page memory, etc.
This might help you, it HELPED me.yea chris cool9 is right just search for a emty server and both of you jump in and play with normal ping KK

Go to options - Keyboard - advanced - enable developers console

Enter a server

type "CL_Cmdrate 5" and press enter

then

type "Restrictconsolecommands 1"
^^^^ - just type restrict and it should pop up in a box you can click

Cmdrate drops your ping like a mofo to like 7 and restrict... well it restricts any commands a server might give you so you cant be kicked.

I suppose it could have been resolved with betterd rivers but I didn't like the card, ANYWAY.  That is actually a well known issue with old nVidia graphics cards.

Solve : Game not reading disc?

Answer»

First, I share the main and operational computer with the family. I do not run the ADMINISTRATOR profile of the computer. That is the PROBLEM. In order to download the game I had to be logged on to the ADM. profile. I downloaded it to the Shared Programs folder so that i could run it on my profile. When I try to do so, the disc is not read and it asks for the disc.
The situation is if I'm on the Adm. profile it loads fine. Help me out. This is not a major problem but is definately an inconveniance. I doubt it is necessary but the game is Diablo II. The same download process was USED for the original Diablo and it loads/works on my profile.Try running the installer as administrator, right click "Run as". Ask your administrator to FILL out the password. doing this from my profile?Indeed. I've only worked with XP Professional, so I am not certain if it is available in XP Home.

Solve : Battlefield 2 won't launch?

Answer»

When I try to launch BF2 the screen goes black for like 3 seconds and then it goes back to the desktop. This is on a new computer. here are it's specs:

1 GB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 6150 LE
AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor 4200
Windows Vista Home Premium

At first when i got this computer BF2 didn't work, but then it randomly started working (maybe i did something to make it work without realizing). Then I tried to install XP, which didn't work for some reason (nothing would boot). Then I did the recovery thing which came with my computer and restores everything to factory settings. now I cant figure out what made BF2 work. Oh and i looked on the internet, all I could find was some crap about refresh rates which i tried but that didn't help.

It is most likely refresh rate problem, indeed But try removing your profiles so the game can create them. I don't see how it's a refresh rate problem because my monitor is always set to 60 HZ. Also, I tried to delete the profiles and nothing changed.Tried to delete or did delete? Quote from: SovietGenius on APRIL 27, 2007, 09:26:49 PM

Reinstall, then. There's a tool out there that can force BF2 to use the 60hz refresh rate but I long forgot its name. Sorry, I meant I did delete it. Also, it turned out to be some directX files missing, I think its because Vista has DX10 and BF2 was made for DX9  Well I never tried to make it work on Vista, I saw a lot of people have problems with it. Solve : i hope Epic responds and helps us out?

i hope Epic responds and helps us out
I'm writing this to help me and everyone who wants to get into the game industry and wishes to know or hear stories on how the guys at epic got their jobs and how they would recommend starting preparing for the industry and what they should do and don’t do.

Please Epic; enlighten us with your stories. (People please ask questions here too... i hope Epic responds and helps us out)

Here are some of my questions i would like to ask,
I love games; I want to be a game designer. I enjoy writing long stories, drawing free hand (mostly faces and bodies) and even photoshoping images and I’m slowly learning how to 3D model (Maya is a bit more friendlier to me... 3D max feels a bit complicated hehe).

But I want to know. How important is Video game schools? Like If there was a program I would take it would be "Game Art & Design" BUT that seems to cost the most money ($21 000 CDN for a one year diploma at Vanarts in Vancouver >.< quite a bit of money). So I want to know... what happens if I train myself with tutorials, books and DVDs (i got a big book for Maya and a couple DVD's) and i recieve the same amount of information and skills as someone would get from school (maybe even more ^_^)? How much will my chances of getting a good video game design job be compared to taking a $20 000 course? Cuz I really want to work for a video game company and the two closest that look fun are Bioware and Silicon Knights (CALGARY and St Cathreens, Ontario)... of course I would love to to work for Epic... but I'm sorry, I have no PLAN in moving to the states YET... hehe.

Also could you recommend any good schools? Like with a decent residence plan in both USA and Canada (I’m just a graduate high school kid here! Hehe)?

Any other questions from others please post them here.
__________________
Thank you for your time,
Sincerely,
Who's Epic? You could check out Epic's job site.  I wouldn't expect them to respond to you here.  I'd be surprised if they even responded on their own forum.

The easiest way to get your foot in the door is to personally know someone in the industry.  Otherwise, you're really gonna need to strut your stuff and prove that you're better than the rest.  Of course, it might be easier to get into a Canadian company.I wanna get into the game industry!

But I've never HEARD of Epic.

guildwarsize, to get into a company like that, you would need to send them like a demo game or painting something to Epic, because they would rather choose someone with a diploma of whatever it is you want to do. But if they see that you are good at making games or drawing or whatever you are applying for, they might employ you.

By the way, do you know of any good game programs that support 3D models?I would love to work for bungie

I can make my own HALO CE maps but they aren't the best maps to look for.........

Answer» OKAY, I don't want to lose my houses and families.I need to un-istall and reinstall the sims to my SLAVE drive which has 230 more gigs than my main drive. I can't keep it installed in my main drive because i don't have any room. I've already deleted everything i could from my original drive and ive un-installed any program i could reinstall in my new drive. Even if i have enough room to install Seasons I know it cant handle another expansion pack.

SO, is there any way for me to MOVE the file that holds all my game data, un-install all my expansion packs and re-install everything into my E drive? Then just SOMEHOW use the same game data? Are you trying to install Sims to another drive? If you are, i think you can change the directory of the folder to install.thank you for replying, i got it figured out already but i appreciate itNo Problem

Solve : Note to Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde: It's On !!!?

Answer»

Note to Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde: It's On

Flex those chomping muscles, retro gamers: the Pac-Man World Championship goes down starting next week on Xbox Live Arcade.

On April 25, contenders willing to drop 400 Microsoft Points ($5 in real money) can sign up, then spend the next two weeks chomping the power pellets in an effort to become a finalist in their region (those would be Asia, Australia/NEW Zealand, Canada, Japan, MEXICO, Europe and the United States). Then the finalists are FLOWN to New York in June for the final throwdown, with the winner receiving 26 years of free Quiznos subs (the sandwich company is also behind this), 100,000 Microsoft points, and a Pac-Man themed Xbox 360 console.

Oh, and the victor will also be crowned the Pac-Man World CHAMPION by the game's creator, Toru Iwatani. I get geeky goose pimples just thinking about it.

I do have to quibble about the title, though: "Pac-Man World Champion?" Maybe I'm too much of a purist, but so far as I'm concerned if you're not playing a coin-op, you're not playing the real Pac-Man. The controllers are different -- just ask the battered muscles in my wrist -- and there's a world of difference between a marathon game standing or on a stool and one in a chair. I'd like to see what would happen if the finalists had to play on arcade machines instead of Xboxes. But hey, that's just me. PERHAPS a bit unrelated, but you reminded me of a drawing my pal MC did...

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/38575377/thats way cool,  I didn't know she was such a who_e !!!  lmao

This shouldn't count, as it's not real Pacman.
Maybe "Pacman World Champion: Xbox Edition/Section" would be more appropriate.

Solve : Trouble with Maple Story and my Router?

Answer»

Hi!

Im having TROUBLE LOGGING to Maple Story since I got this ADSL Router.

I'll explain the situation: When I double click on the MS logo the Game Guard connects and authentycates, but after it does that, it closes off and it doesnt give me an error. Deleting the Game Guard FOLDER wont work and the ipconfig either.

My suppositions: I have played (or tried playing) MS on switches and two types of router (the ones that uses private IP's with 192.168.0.xxx and the ones that uses 192.168.1.xxx). The 2nd type of router is the one that I got now and it doesnt let me log on; the other router and the switches went nice.

You could say that I should format my PC, it wont work either because:

When I was working at an office last year, I had to move my computer from home to the working place. there I could log on to Maple Story using, first, a SWITCH, second, a router (192.168.0.xxx) and the third, and I couldnt log on this one, another router (192.168.1.xxx); after I finished working there I RETURNED my pc home and I could play again MS.

I dont know what to do for MS to work on; I already tried putting my PC on the DMZ, opening all the ports in the router (mad I know), played with the DHCP settings and even changed the DNS settings, and nothing.

If there is anything else I can do and you know, please tell me. Im dead curious to know what to do.

Solve : NFS : C?

Answer»

HEY its me again hafnt POSTED in ages and this time it is the same problem
it is because of my graphic card on my laptop
so i was wondering if there was a way to change a laptop's graphic card
any idea? up to my knowledge u cant UPGRADE most things in laptops
What videocard does your laptop currently have? Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset FamilyThat's an onboard videocard. I THINK your chances are high that it is not possible for you to insert an expansion videocard. You should contact the manufacturer to be certain, though hmm ok thxIt is very unlikely this will be possible.
Please see www.mxm-upgrade.com to see if your laptop can be upgraded.
Even if it can, it is likely to be expensive and hard to do.
RAM is easy to upgrade, CPU harder but not IMPOSSIBLE, graphics card impossible unless you have an MXM laptop.
Hope that CLEARS things up for you.noooooooooo
it only supports fujitsu amio Quote from: lordoftheplat on April 17, 2007, 09:35:19 PM

Solve : PES6 STUTTERING?

Answer»

Help!

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is stuttering (keeps pausing for a milisecond or two) whilst playing a match.

I'm using a Pentium Core 2 2.66mhz CPU, 2GB of RAM & an ATI Radeon X1600 256mb graphics card.

Is it the graphics card? I don't really know MUCH about them, just picked one with alot of ram!

Thanks guys...What OS are you using?
By "stuttering" do you mean that the GAME is lagging and/or skipping frames?

It could be your graphics card, as your card doesn't appear to be supported by this game.  Although that may not be the sole reason (I PLAY a few games that don't support my card).  A few suggestions...

Look up your card on the ATI site and download/install the latest drivers.

Get the latest VERSION of DirectX if you don't already have it.

Kill some of your unimportant running processes that may be hogging resources.  Some games suggest disabling your anti-virus while playing, but I wouldn't advise this, especially if you're online during gameplay.

If you're still experiencing problems, you may need to use the game's options to take the resolution down a notch or two to INCREASE the performance.  It won't look as pretty, but I'd say gameplay is just a bit more important.Try different settings.. Use less file sharing programs? Could be anything at the moment.

I just went to install the game from the images and I get the laucher but then once I click Install I get a 'Please insert correct CD-Rom and press ok to restart application' error message. I have tryed both disc images with this and I get the same message each time.

if not reistalling the game works, try check your RAM.

wow is a game that is highly dependent on your RAM. 1Gig RAM is highly recomended at least.
to check your ram. dry downloading the diagnostics program from the developer of your RAM´s homepage.

if you are using AMD Athlon XP 3200+ processor you could try go into bios and set it to 2800Ghrtz
running on full clock makes the game crash, blizz know this bugg but has not yet managed to chage it.
