Hey, again 


I just wanted your guys oppinion on how SLI 7600gts x2, 1gig of RAM, and a Pentium 4  3.2Ghz line up would run todays most demanding games? I heard spending that extra money on Dual Cores and 8800s isn't worth it right now for just a gamer.

MikeHave a machine here that is a Pentium 4 2.4GHz with a Gig a ram and also a much higher end computer that is running a Dual Core. I believe and I'm pretty sure it has been mentioned elsewhere that Dual Cores can definitely increase the overall system performance especially for gaming.

However, whether or not it's worth it is really up to you and if you're actually running into performance issues with the games you're playing. I've played Oblivion and Gothic 3 on both of the machines I mentioned above and although I can't really compare the two because the dual core machine is a beast and has a lot more than just the dual core I believe the dual core did help a lot.

If you're not running into performance issues you could just wait a while longer for quad cores and better to start being released and save some money as the dual cores and better begin to drop in price.Yeah, I've still got to order my last 7600gt and the Gig of Ram for my system to be done, I have a good feeling I'll be ok with games like bf2/2142/Oblivion and what not. Dual core is not necessary now, and nor does it provide much of a boost in most games.

. . .MIND EXPLAINING the PROBLEM and SOLUTION?

ok this problem is really starting to make me mad. First of all i sat at a computer while the game downloaded off the cd for 5 HOURS, MAYBE more. When it finally loads in i create my file and all and i ENTER my info then i click log in... and my internet disconnects. This really made me mad because it said it was a routing problem and it only does it with this game and with nothing else. SOMEBODY please help me with my problem!  Huh that is a strange one. Do you get any type of errors? I'm assuming you're running XP? Finally, how are you connecting to the Internet, I'm assuming you're using BROADBAND since you're planning on playing Guildwars, if so what type of broadband cable/dsl and what type of modem are you using for the broadband?...I'm using dial up (i just moved so i can get dsl soon) i'm guessing that this is the problem because i forgot how slow it was.It's possible, but it's still strange that it would disconnect your Internet, I would assume it would simply display a message about a slow CONNECTION speed.http://www.plaync.com/us/support/doc_4826.html

Downloaded a long game (navigator) that is usually on 4 cd's.  So now I can look at all TH efiles an dopen them individually but I can't LOAD the game as I dont SEE a obvious setup bit!!!   I thought i was being clever but I guess not!! I fI had the cds i could put them in th emachine and the prompt would TELL me what to do right!?

AlisonWe do not help with illegal downloads. Try another forum for that.Keep in mind that it's not uncommon for illegal GAMES to not work.  Many of them are also harmful to your computer.

I heard that some people have gotten their HANDS on a NOAC (NES on a Chip) and made portable NESs from it. I have a plan to put one on an NES gamepad, and make an NES Ultraportable, it will have 4 ports:
SD card, MMC port, AV-out, and Player 2. Others have put one in a case, but I've never heard of one that uses ROMs (It's legal if you own the Cart. Right?). I intend to do everything legally, but is the NOAC legal? And if so, where can I get one?There have been plenty of success stories (Portendo for example) and BEN Heckendorn has written a pretty extensive book and I haven't really seen much in the way of legal action against any of the people who do this stuff, so although I'm SURE Nintendo probably isn't a big fan of it, I don't know if it's considered illegal.  Especially if it's for your own personal use.  ROMs might be pushing it a bit, though.  If you decide to venture into all of this, just be careful and do as much research as you can.

As for where to ACTUALLY find an NOAC...I have no idea how to go about acquiring one.ok, it probably isn't worth it. I kind of want a cross between a gaming console and an mp4 player (not the PSP, no way, too expensive). I saw this thing called a super-card and was wondering whether it works like it should, and whether it's legal, it's supposed to be like a ROM loader, but with pre-loaded ROMs for watchin movies and stuff, no worries, I don't care for 'boot-legged' software as it has been known to cause PROBLEMS, no matter what platform.

I know there's probably been thousand's of posts on this subject but I have only just obtained a copy of this game for the PC & I was hoping someone can tell me how I can get this W95 game running on XP?

I have managed to install the software from the disc using the compatibility wizard - but now the games launch icon when clicked comes up with an ERROR message saying that it will RUN in Windows 95 only.

Right clicking the launch icon for properties to enable me to run it in W95 compatibilty mode doesn't work - as there is strangely no properties selection available in the context menu.

In the folder where the games files are contained, there is no program launch icon to work with EITHER. I have tried the program compatibilty wizard with the .exe for the game but get a message saying:

'This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an ASSOCIATION in the folder options control panel.'

I basically need to run the .exe for the game in W95 compatibilty mode. I THINK there's a way of getting a .pif file from the W95 machine which will allow me to create a shorcut to the games .exe file, giving me the option of choosing W95 compatibility. I have also read briefly about creating a dual partition HD (one being W95).

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance...

Hello everyone im Ivan and im new here.This is my last hope.
I buy new computer components couple weeks before and i added all components in new case alone.After that i INSTALLED WINDOWS xp and vista and everything works properly except call of duty 1.Computer working good.But...when i tryed to START my favorite game Call of Duty 1 i have specific problem with this game and ONLY with this game.Other games working perfect with my new graphic card.But cod1 dont work well.When im connecting to some server to play, game "slowing down" frame by frame 50% less frames every 4-5 seconds.I have directx 9.0c in XP and 10 in vista.

I have  the need for speed most wanted game and my son wanted to play it and when I put it in the cd drive it just wont work anymore. It used to work perfectly but now when I press play nothing happens. If I uninstall it and INSTALL it again, he will lose his blacklist and has to start over again. Any help would be appreciated.What happened before this started?

(I would suck as I have next to no facial expressions at all).Huh strange. I heard about this game called Demise and decided to DOWNLOAD the demo to try it out, after DOWNLOADING and INSTALLING it when I double CLICK the icon to play I get an error message, Unexpected error; quitting. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I did some searching and didn't come up with much, one suggestion I did read that may help is to make sure you're attempting to install the game as administrator, apparently the game can have issues if not being installed this way, also read that firewalls can cause issue so may want to temporarily disable any firewalls.

Otherwise it looks as if you may have already made a post on their forum, saw a post that was just recently made about an error occurring when installing the game (assuming that was you) if so I'd see what the developers say about the error.I havn't posted on their forum actually, ill check it out. I also heard about the firewall and administrator thing as well, I did install it under administrator (I assume you just mean a user in XP with admin accessability) and I don't have a firewall going.Those were the only two things I was able to come up with. Give their forums a shot and I'd make sure to mention what you've done as far as admin/firewall.

any help would be great. Thanks.If you're unable to right-click on the drive and explore the CD and VIEW it's contents then it's likely an issue with the CD. MAKE sure it's clean, if clean it's likely a bad disc and should be replaced.

But still, i agree with CBMatt, To play a game without a cd is basically hacking/cracking the game and more or LESS copying it on to the computer. And when you do get it to run without the cd, you can SELL the cd which comes under the illegal part.well if u just bought it den why sell it....

they look awesomeTechnically, I don't think it's illegal provided you own the original and don't have more than one simultanious installation. If it were illegal, I think think popular websites such as www.gamecopyworld.com wouldn't still be around. But yes, the technology can be abused.I think it's in a grey area.

One thing I've always liked about the Fallout series is that they actually design it so you can install the game without needing a CD to run it.

ok so got the nfs:carbon collectors edition and i did all the installation
in the end i CLICKED the splash screen appeared then the screen turned
black, then it just closes nfsc.exe

kinda obvious that i updated everything....

Hey everyone. I have an old Windows 98 game, Red Alert 2. Just wondering, is it possible for it to play on Windows XP?
I haven't tried it myself yet (my friend is borrowing the disc).

Thanks for any repliesApparently it is possible. Here's the tale of a guy who wrestled the game onto his computer. I don't know if this will work for you, but the only thing you have to risk is wasting 10 minutes trying it.

1. He changed the screen resolution to 640 x 480. The game installed. (He also said he used 8-bit color, but depending on your SP or video card it may only be possible to go 16-bit color. Try that if the install doesn't work on 32-bit.)

2. He set the game options to 800 x 600

3. He then played in compatibility mode for Windows 98/ME.

Seems like a lot of trouble for a game. Just be thankful it's not Vista. I've never had any trouble with Red Alert 2 on XP before. Just get the patch and run compatability mode.Yeah, it seems like a lot of trouble. i am a great fan of windows solitiare but now have a problem.the game was always listed in the start MENU and it along with the other always installed games were listed in the game listing in the all other program section of the start menu.today my son was trying to get some extra free space on my hard drive by deleting unneeded windows programs through add and delete section and went to add or REMOVE windows programs and unchecked everything except for the fax box and then pressed ok.upon seeing that something was happening he canceled this action but now all i have listed in both spots is real arcade and it is not what i want. i am operating a acer laptop with windows xp.if i go to RUN and type in sol i get the game but can not find a way to get back to where i was. i do not claim to be the worlds greatest expert on computers so i am looking for a fairly simple way to repair this issue before it drives me nuts.any help at all would be more then great....thanks for your time and help. SOLITAIRE should be listed in that folder as "sol".
Right-click "sol", go to "Send To" and click "Desktop (create shortcut)"
Now you should have a shortcut to solitaire on your desktop.

Other games that might be in that folder are, "freecell", "mshearts", "spider" (Spider Solitaire), and "winmine" (MineSweeper).

Hi there for some reason unlike everyother game Iv got Doom 3 insists on running at 60hz refresh rate and its doing my head in. Anyone know how to force it to run at a HIGHER refresh rate. The windows options for setting the hz doesn't seem to affect it.

not sure how but Doom 3 is a pretty hard game to run. to run it really well U need a good video card. besides, 60 refresh rate is fine.You may be taking about the fps, not refresh rate.
Doom 3 is capped at 60fps, you cannot get it to run any higher.
60fps is about the max anyone can see anyway, higher fps would not be noticeable.

He's talking about refresh rate not fps! Refresh rate has nothing to do with how good the graphics card is. And 60Hz gives intollerable flicker on most CRT monitors.

I don't see how you can tell that a game is at a certain refresh rate.
And I've always used 60Hz refresh rate on my CRTs, I don't see any difference.
Maybe it's just me.
Certainly the actual graphics card involved would be useful, I know for ATI cards there is an option to lock the refresh rate which may be involved here.

When I am PLAYING Hitman Bloodmoney or Battlefield 2 my mouse and my keyboard have a mind of their own. And only those two games which happen to be the only two I wanna play. My other games work fine Doom 3, or Oblivion just these two. I either cant move or I cant stop moving with the keyboard and the mouse. But in Windows everything WORKS fine. Even in the menu screen of the game every thing works fine just when I play. I updated my drivers at least im 99% sure I did yesterday. Its annoying and id appreciate any help so I can play my games. How powerfull is your computer? whats its Specs?

But also which I forgot to say in the first one I use to be able to play Hitman fine it just started happening last week.
Oh and one more thing to add I switched out my keyboard and mouse which were both logitech wireless devices with a usb keyboard was directly connected and ANOTHER mouse. The keyboard was a GE and the mouse was Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0. And then I used a serial connection keyboard, and then a standard GE mouse directly connected with usb and then tried a usb adapter to serial. And they work fine until I play those games. Then they have a mind of their own.Maybe this has something to do with ur CPU..

Its so old, that i would not bet it could run any of the games that u have stated at 1/2 a frame.
This really dosent make any sence. You CPU is not only very old, but its a Sempron, wich is a very bad CPU alltogether..
And i think u mean 1GB of RAM.I do mean one GB. But it can run Hitamn fine and Elderscrolls Oblivion fine until last week. The only thing THATS old is the motherboard from 2004.Also my computer more then surpasses every minimum requirement to date so what are you talking about? And hits the most maximum requirements of last year. I need help with my problem not comment on my system or correction to what I say to make you feel better because you know what I said.Actually lots of games have a minimum requirement above 1.3Ghz but with a decent graphics card, they should still run fine.

Find out how to enable the Frames Per Second counter in your games. Then tell us what the FPS is. If the FPS is high enough (>20) then we'll know it's unlikely that your computer is too slow to run the game, and it's some other problem.

Have you tried using PS/2 mouse and keyboard? Latest patches for the game? Also try using a "simple" keyboard rather than one with complex buttons etc, which might be causing some kind of interference for some reason.

But the FPS number is important, so please try to find it.Thank you but what i am saying is I played Hitman blood money fine for over 1 month and beat it at the highest settings. Only until last week have I had these problems. I will look for the fps but im telling you its probably something different since I was able to play it already fine.I think so too, but at least then we can completely rule out that possibility.

Let me say it again "Worked fine before"/ "Beat the games". Telling me my computer cant handle something or talking about fps or anything about how my computer is hold is irrelevant because it has worked "Perfect". I say one more time worked "Perfect". My computer can handle the games. Last week ( say again because no one seems to get this part unless you guys are messing with me) it just started "Just Started messing up". So my problem is the games that worked perfect for me, all of the sudden Last week my mouse Started to act erratic and so did my keyboard while playing the game. I have tried a USB mouse & keyboard / Serial mouse & keyboard / & Wireless mouse & keyboard. So please no more responses telling me what I cant do because obviously I can. And for those that keep wanting to be smart close your eyes pretend its the most perfect computer and you have my problem. Then only then give me a resonse.

"KILL switch" ,,the game runs fine but instead of the player's usual shadow ,there is a BLACK flickering square..DRIVERS are updated but STILL ,the problem wasn't SOLVED..

The internet connection in my area has been down for about 3 MONTHS and Im thinking of INSTALLING Half Life 2 again. That bloody steam thing stops me from playing a game I spent £30 on. Is there anyway on Earth I can get to the single player campaign screen other than spending 47 hours on DIAL up downloading every single update in the past two years since its release

I have an Athlon64 3500XP overclocked from 2.2GHZ to 2.57GHZ, 2GB of RAM and a Geforce 7800GTX clocked to from 430/1200MHz to 490/1300Mhz. Phew thats over with.

Anyway before I did my overclocks I played Supreme Commander and It strained to run at a decent frame rate like *censored*. Im running it again and I think its better. Is there anyway to do a benchmark or SOMETHING to compare the difference?
Also does ANYONE think I need an upgrade, I thought my PC was pretty ninja especially after the clocking but Supreme Commander does tend to push it with lots of units on screen.
Tanx for the thoughts.Supreme Commander is a pretty intensive game, it taxes my friend's PC with 2Gb RAM, Core 2 Duo E6600 and ATI Radeon X1950XTX.
I don't think you need an upgrade, maybe consider reducing the detail levels a bit to improve your frame rates.
As for benchmarks, most games include a way to measure this, check the options for a TimeDemo mode or similar.
You may have lots of background tasks running, consider disabling any you don't need.What resolution are you running at?I prefer 1600x1200 because I have a big MONITOR but I do knock it down to about 1280x1024 If it gets busy and it seems to make some difference. It's just hard to tell sometimes by looking at it. I get the impression the frame rate is similar regardless of detail.Hmm... when does it become unbearable? when you have 500+ units slugging it out??

My Computer (referenced earlier by Calum :p ) is Very Good up about 750+ units, but it is still playable.

It is probably a resolution problem... but maybe its a actual game instillation problem, as referenced on Gas Powered Games Forums. i would link to it but i forgot the location apparently if there was a problem/power surge during install or if the DVD-drive had a problem, or any of a hundred of hardware problems... it would not correctly install one of the engine files and it would fail too hold up under stress apparently...

But that is a rare problem. i would have a better look at your system... i personally think a totally over clocked system would never ever hold up very well under a high PROCESSOR Dependant game, maybe RAM also needs upgrading.

that and i don't think pure over clocking is good for a system IMO.

Hello, does anyone happen to know if there is a way of playing DOOM (all six episodes) with the GRAPHICS of Chex Quest?? I'm not really supposed to PLAY DOOM because of it's blood, GORE, and nightmarish themes, however, I bet I could play it with Chex Quest graphics SINCE it uses the same engine, and WAD files.ok... old stuff... I'll bet not, violence is violence.Doom was pretty old graphics anyway, nothing nasty compared with the standards of today.
Awesome game though, I have it for PS1.DOOM, violent? have you seen FEAR or GRAND Theft Auto? there Violent, and in a way DOOM is good violence as in theory you are killing Daemons so you helping the world ^^

I tried to PLAY Quake-III in the WINDOW mode (non-Fullscreen).

While playing the mouse and the keyboard gets locked and i CANT switch back to something important.

The only WAY to do this is to exit out of the current game completely.

Can anyone please tell me how to free the mouse and kybd and come back to resume the back.....

Hey I was wondering if any of you guys had a chance to download this?  I got DONE with the download a few hours ago.  This is a really good RTS.  I highly recommend this download to any command and conquer FANS out there.  It will give you a tutorial , 2 single player gdi missions as well as 1 skirmish map for gdi.  

For best download speeds for this go to fileplanet.com it took me about an hour and a half.I have Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour and its so fun. It takes up a lot of memory on my hard drive though, still awesome. Especially when I PLAY against my brother or a friend on my other computer   Can't be bothered to download somehting that large.
I agree though, it does look great.

Sony Mods PS3 Backward Compatibility for European Launch

With only about a month until the PlayStation 3 launches in the European market, Sony has made an announcement that has lit the message boards alight with bickering.

The key feature being removed to "cut costs" from the PS3 is hardware backward compatibility, which makes it possible to play PS1 and PS2 games on the console with no extra fiddling or downloads required. The U.S. and Japan got the hardware version of this compatibility. Europe is going to get software emulation to hopefully accomplish the same goal.

Does this sound familiar? It should. This is the same way that Microsoft has been handling compatibility for playing Xbox games on the Xbox 360. The hardware ROUTE wasn't an option for Microsoft, given that their two consoles thus far have USED video hardware from RIVAL companies. Many in the INDUSTRY would consider Microsoft's enthusiasm and dedication to software emulation to be mediocre at best. It was announced pre-launch to assuage the fears of early adopters, but new releases have waned considerably over the last year as the company devotes more time and resources to developing unique content for the console.

It might not be as big of a deal if Sony hadn't maligned Microsoft at the 360 launch for doing many of the things Sony ended up doing themselves, including releasing two significantly different versions of their new console at opposing price points and now going the software emulation route for legacy compatibility.

Cost is certainly a factor for a new console launch, and finding ways to save money is important. Nothing has been announced as far as how removing the hardware backward compatibility will affect the price of the PS3 in Europe (currently slated at the equivalent of about $900). With no hard numbers to show, the heavy speculation has begun. There are a few main camps that people are vocally falling into.

Hi all.
As the topic title suggests, I am having major problems with BF2142.
It worked fine the other day, and the only thing that has changed that I can think of is that I installed a patch for it.
It worked fine for a few games after the patch though, so I don't think it's that.
Oh, and I installed some other games, but I don't think that would affect it.
The problem is that it launches fine, up until the SECOND LOG in screen.
When I log in there, it freezes for about 5 MINUTES, normally it logs in within about 10 seconds, usually less.
When it eventually loads the main screen, that too is empty of information, just the frames with buddy list and the structure on them, nothing in them and nothing on the news ticker, etc.
If I then leave it for 5 minutes or so, it loads up.
But then every time I click something, it take 5 minutes to load.
Anyone else having problems?
Or have any suggestions to fix this?
XP Pro SP2, ATI Mobility X1600 256Mb graphics card, 1Gb RAM, 100Gb HDD.

Would this be better PLACED in the "network" section? (and if so how could I move it?)Your firewall probably isn't set up correctly. A QUICK way to rule this out is to disable the firewall, although oddly I've found sometimes having the firewall on helps games to connect.

Find the name of the other COMPUTER and on the Search tool, select search for computers or people and enter the computer name. Can it be found?It was the firewall - problem now solved.

Flight Sim 9 finally DIED after trying to die for the last couple weeks.  Per the Task Manager, an EXE titled NTVDM is sucking up all CPU resources when the GAME tries to start - the splash screen APPEARS, then a blue BOX (NTVDM) appears and the game immediately crashes to the desk-top.  Now all of a sudden my Sound Blaster isn't working and I suspect somehow NTVDM has corrupted the software.  I deleted it out of Win/System32 but XP SP2 just cloned a new NTVDM.  I tried three different Registry cleaners, Disk Scan, etc. to no avail.  Is there anything I can do to stop NTVDM short of wiping out my hard drive and starting over?

Has anybody ever heard of Computer Space, the very first coin-operated arcade game from 1971?  It PREDATES PONG by one year.  I stumbled upon a site regarding it here:

Not only that, but I noticed that there's an accurate simulator of that game.  I never thought I'd get to see how the game worked.  Previously, all I had ever seen were static IMAGES of the actual arcade game itself.

I accidentally screwed up my Black & White (v1.20) savegame files, so I deleted the game about a week or two ago.  I had downloaded the Black & White Scripting Tools from the official web site and because I wasn't going to have the game anymore, I didn't want that program anymore either.  However, I can't uninstall it.  Whenever I try (using Add/Remove Programs, mind you), I GET an error message stating "This SDK cannot be uninstalled independent of Black & White."  I get the same error when trying to uninstall it with CCleaner (newest version).  Assuming the game needed to be present to uninstall the SDK, I reinstalled Black & White, but to no avail.  I even get the same message when trying to reinstall the kit.  I haven't found any resources at all online.  Any suggestions?Now, don't everyone come rushing to me with solutions all at once...

Anyway...I've gotten this taken care of, and I figured I'd POST my solution, just in case anyone else ends up with this problem.  It actually ended up being really simple.  To get rid of the error, I just deleted the Black & White Scripting Tools entry with Add/Remove Program Cleaner.  Since all this does is remove the program from the LIST, I don't know how it made the error GO away, but it did.  I even tested it several times.  It's beyond me, but at least it works.  However, it doesn't uninstall anything, but all I had to do was navigate to C:\Program Files\Lionhead Studios (NOT C:\Program Files\Lionhead Studios Ltd) and delete it.  Voila.  As far as I know, there aren't any registry entries or temp files that go along with the install, but I don't really care.  And if there is anything, I'm sure CCleaner will pick it up.

I installed a game then quickly moved it and its components to "my documents in a folder I made for it.  I tried to uninstall the game later on by clicking on the uninstall shortcut in the folder but the shortcut can't find the uninstall.exe for it.

I tried installing the game and uninstalling it but all it did was remove the newly installed game (same as the one im having trouble with) from cpu.  The game and everything else  stayed in the folder and still works because it runs when I insert the cd in.  

Is there a way to manually uninstall/remove this from my cpu because I tried add/remove but all it did was remove my game profiles and data(saved games, difficulty lvl)
I also tried tools like "windows install clean up" but the game is not listed in it so I can't remove.
Also system restore can't help because when I try it, it does'nt make changes and system restore on disk clean-up won't work either because the nearest check-point is after the game was installed.

CCleaner asks that when you DELETE registry entries.  If the uninstaller is showing up in the list of registry fixes, then that probably means that the file doesn't exist anymore.

Start CCleaner and go to Tools.  Is there anything in the program list about your game?  If not, then just skip ahead to the next paragraph.  If it is in the list, click on Run Uninstaller.  If that doesn't work, click on Delete Entry and click on Yes.  Then...

Just delete those game files you have (right-click and Delete) and run CCleaner again.  Click on Run Cleaner and it will clear out your Temp folders and should get rid of any extra files that came with the game.  Then if you want to clear your bad registry entries, click on Issues and Scan For Issues, then Fix Selected Issues.  When CCleaner asks if you want to make a backup, click on Yes and pick a PLACE to save the file.  You'll need that if you decide that you want to undo the changes made.Oh... hope it works, here goes nothin   :-/Hold on, before i try this, what if the uninstaller is'nt listed? I don't know about DX10 WORKING with NORMAL windows XP (I don't think it will, but i'm not 100% on that.... in fact it might work perfictly). As for the graphics cards, technically you'll need to get a new one (G80 and R600, which come out at the end of this year, are supposed to be DX10 compatable), however all DX10 games will be backwards compatable with DX9, at least in the imideate future, until vista and DX10 become standard, as not every person is going to be able to get a DX10 card right AWAY. So, to answer your question, you should be fine with getting a DX9 card now, and then after G80/R600 come out and all the kinks in vista and DX10 are worked out, upgrading to a new card when you can. I have this card.  I havent been able to play any of my older games (Halflife 2,Quake 4,Zero Hour)

Many older computer programs may not run correctly if you just click on the program's executable file in Windows XP; this is particularly true of older game programs. There can be many reasons why. Perhaps the program uses DOS calls that XP does not know about. Perhaps there are graphic hardware considerations. Perhaps...who knows.

Indeed, some older DOS-based programs, in order to speed up the display, wrote directly to the computer's hardware. These, Windows XP will not allow to run at all. In order to run these you will have to find a computer with an older operating system.

For those in between, there is some hope in using Windows XP's Compatibility Mode.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to where the program is located. Then...

Right click on the program file (the .EXE or .COM file).
Select Properties from the menu that pops up.
Select the Compatibility Tab in the dialog.
Change the options so the program opens in Windows 95 or 98 compatibility mode. Note the other options in the dialog as you may have to experiment a bit and change some of them as well.

It looks like that silly rumor was true as Microsoft just announced a bigger memory card for the Xbox 360. The new 512MB Xbox 360 memory card will be available April 3rd, will retail for $49.99, and for a LIMITED time will come pre-loaded with Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. Simultaneously, the ancient 64MB memory card will drop in price to $29.99 (be on the lookout for clearance prices). Also, with the announcement of the new 512MB card, the XBLA size limit will be raised from 50MB to 150MB allowing DEVELOPERS to run wild with their creativity. This has probably been asked and answered but my search met with negative results.  When I'm playing a game on my PC I get a short "beep" through my speakers and the key on my keyboard I was HOLDING down "sticks".  For clarification, the button does not actually stick, it will rise back to its normal position.  However, even though the key will return to its normal position, it's as though the key is still being pressed (i.e.  if I was holding the "w" key, my character in the game will continue to move forward).  This happens with other keys that are normally held down during game play as well.  If I tap and release the "STUCK" key the problem goes away, however, seconds or minutes later it will reoccur.  This only happens when I am playing a game and has occured in every game I play (BF2, Oblivion, HALO, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, and Dark Messiah Might and Magic).  I just built my PC a few weeks ago and this has been a problem from the start.  I'm not experiencing any other problems at all.  I have tried SWAPPING out the keyboard and this did NOT correct the problem.  I have tried unstalling and reinstalling the software that came with my keyboard, with negative results, and made sure it is the most up-to-date version.  My PC specs are as follows:

EVGA nForce 680i SLI motherboard
Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Core (QX6700) processor
2 GB Corsair Dominator 800 MHz PC2-6400 memory
Two 150 GB Western Digital Raptor HDDs in a RAID 0 array

And . . . wow, nice PC Thanks for the reply and comment on my machine Calum.  You can imagine how frustrated I am after dropping all that $$ for it and then having to deal with this little problem.  The frequency that my "stuck key" issue occures and the duration that a key needs to be held down varies greatly.  Sometimes I can play for several minutes without this happening at all.  Then all the sudden I get the "beep" tone through my speakers that I mentioned and Im tapping the stuck key to get my character to stop moving.  I'v tried holding a key down while moving in the same direction or walking into a wall for up to 20 seconds in an effort to duplicate it and somtimes it will happen, sometimes not.  I'v also tried to duplicate it by holding down a combination of keys (such as Shift+W to run forward) and I get the same inconsistant results.  The checkboxes for StickyKeys, FilterKeys, and ToggleKeys are all unchecked under the Windows Accessibility Options.  Any suggestions or other questions?  Please let me know.So another keyboard on that PC does the same thing . . . how about that keyboard on another PC?

Reinstall the drivers too.I will have to find another computer to swap my keyboard to since I can't use my old one.  I cannibalized the power supply from it for my new machine.  I'm just having my doubts that it's the keyboard since swapping it out with another one had no effect.  It's a PS2 keyboard and the only other PS2 port I have on my I/O panel is the one for a mouse.  Should I plug it into that one and see what happens?  I already tried removing the software that came with the keyboard and reinstalling it.  This didn't FIX the problem.  I figured the drivers would be included in that.  If the drivers are somewhere else where would they be?  Thanks again.

I just set up a network for two computers, and now want to play C&C Generals Zero hour over the network. I can set up the game on one computer, but when the other one tries to JOIN it, I get a message SAYING: "You serial is already in use" What does this mean? how can I fix it???

You are only allowed to run one instance of that serial key at any one time, hence why the two copies will not play together. I gave my dog a squeaky toy in the street. My carpool car has been sitting there honking for three days! The sound is driving me nuts, and i cant move the toy because it is out of bounds (in the street!)  

HELP!!If your playing Sims 2 or Sims unleashed or whatever, this would work.

In game, press [highlight]CTRL[/highlight] + [highlight]SHIFT[/highlight] + [highlight]C[/highlight] all at the same time.

Now DEPENDING on what game you have, somewhere at the top (or bottom, i forget) a rectangular box should appear.

Now TYPE [highlight]move_objects on[/highlight] and then delete the car.

[highlight]move_objects on[/highlight] is a cheat for Sims that allows you to basically do whatever you want to characters or objects. If you aren't playing Sims 2, you can delete your character and when you click his face on the toolbar, he will reappear with full stats.
You can also build outside the original building square with this cheat (making houses bigger).

Now all your annoying honking should go away. If it doesn't, POST back.

I want to all to vote on which is the BEST MMORPG in your oppinioni am not a big fan of mmorpg's, i have only played runescape and maple story, both for about 15 minutes. from what i have seen THOUGH, guildwars is the best, from graphics to gameplay,and the fact that it has free online PLAY.Never played one in my life.None of the above. No Google entries for this PROBLEM. Let's start with the brute force method: Try installing again. Sometimes I've run into odd flukes like this. Does it give the error the second time?YES I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES BUT IT STILL GIVES ME THE SAME ERROR. Okay, in my search I have found a forum that specializes in Stronghold.
