Hi I hope someone can help, for the past year or so.  I have been playing Call of duty 2 on my PC with the following spec.

XP Home edition with service pk 2
AMD 2200 XP with 1024 DDR 400 ram  2 x 512
Asus GeForce FX5200 128MB

With no problems at all then in the last month the PC would re-start it’s self  during the game.  After awhile the PC would just re-start even if I wasn’t playing a game.   I tried TAKING having one stick of ram out at a time but there was no difference still re starting.  A friend of mine gave me a Hercules ATI Prophet 9600 pro 256 graphic card.  After I installed the card and tried to play the game.  The screen goes blank and that’s it.

Any suggestions please
 :-?Your computer could be overheating. After one of these restarts, try looking in the BIOS for your CPU and system temperature. You do this by pressing a key (usually delete) when restarting. Be CAREFUL not to change any settings in the BIOS.

When using the other graphics card, did you install the video drivers for it correctly?

PS it's itself not it's self  I'm able to play other games  It’s just when I load Call of duty game a message comes up saying that the system has changed since the last time.  Would you like the system to adjust it self or would you like to do it manually.  After that the screen goes blank I have to press (Ctrl+Alt+delete) and end the programme.  No way to know whats the problem - software/hardware.

You should try playing Call of Duty, because the sequel cannot play on ur system.. it will barely load on the minimal settings. The first Call of Duty looks very good and runs surprisingly well on ur PC.Your Friend is the real joker with you he has given that card to you becausemost ATI cards Dont Support

Hi everyone

Recently i PURCHASED The Sims (original, not Sims 2) for the pc, now the TROUBLE starts when iplay it, it says i have not eough hard drive space, ichecked and i have 2.29gb left, where as to run the game it says it only needs 100mb.What on earth is going on ! Now my dad installed it on his, he did it fine and it played, so for that we PUT the admin status on my account, it installed and played fine yet when the priveleges were took off it didn't play it came up  with the memory message!
It's been *censored* for 2 days now !

has anyone else got the message of not up enough space yet really they do have enough space?

And do you need administrator privelges to play itCheck your swap file settings - it MAY be that your paging file/swapfile is taking up too much space.
How big is your HDD?errrrr right HDD, may sound really strange yet what on earth is a HDD? i have the worlds most minimal computer skills sorry :-? :-/Sorry, I should have explained myself better.
HDD = hard disk drive.
What is the total capacity of it?it says it's 11.1gb capacity and we still have 2.30 gb of space remaining , that's the  local disk (C) i hope thats what it is as it's labelled under hard disk drives the other is a  system_sav(d) that has 7.46 gb capacity and has 5.54 gb space freenow i'm not so sure it's even the memory that's bugging me, does anyone hjere who has the orginal sims 1 game have to have adminbstrator priveleges to play it ?How much space is the swap file set to use?

Hi all.
I have recently received a game, which runs far too fast to be playable.
I estimate it runs about 5 times faster than it should- gameplay, controls and music are all the same.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game to no effect.
The game is "Sonic & Knuckles 3" produced by Xplosiv.
All 3 of the games in the pack (Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic & Knuckles 3) suffer from the same problem.
I don't have a receipt to get a refund/exchange either because it was bought for me and the person who gave it me hasn't got the receipt.
Can anyone help me?

There are no options other than volume and fullscreen or windowed mode, and the problem happens in both modes.

Turns out the game is playing between 10 and 15 times faster than usual, I watched the time counting up on the levels.
Also, it's not just the in game action, I've noticed that it times out quickly too (you know, when you don't press a button for however long it shows a DEMONSTRATION of the game?  There's about 2 seconds before it times out)Are these old DOS games? Might be worth running in an emulator. Try looking around their fansites for information.I'm sure there are no other options.

They're not DOS games, they're definitely for Windows, and it SAYS it's compatible with 95, 98, and XP (but not 2k, strangely).

This game is simply a port from the console version that is unable to cope with the fast speeds of modern processors. (I doubt the game will use anything other than the basic features of a graphics card)

Uninstall both. The reinstall ONE, then the other in a different DIRECTORY. TRY it. Otherwise I haven't a CLUE. My COPY of RCT3 works fine. Might be your PC.

I don't know if I am just being extremely dense or what.
 
But......
I created a house on an EMPTY lot and SAVED it as House 2. Now I cannot find the saved file to reload it. When the game starts up, it takes me immediately to the neighbourhood screen. When I click on the lot I made the house for, it is not there. I cannot find an option to load a saved game. I tried searching Sims in my C drive but cannot find it.

Please helpHave you been able to save HOUSES before?
Try making another house and saving it - can you load that house when you restart The Sims?I just got the game.

I played a house with a family I built, in a house that was already built. It lets me click on that no problem to reload it.

But for the life of me, I cannot find this house I built on the empty lot. I know it saved, or at LEAST it told me it saved it.

I played The Sims a few times a while ago and I found it very confusing and hard to find houses when you have multiple neighbourhoods, but perhaps that's just me

I did make sure I was on the right page and the same lot. I'm wondering if it is because I didn't move a family in? Also whoever heard of a game with no load option on the first page that pops up? Another weird thing is, the first couple of times I played it, I did get a regular page with different options pop up, which of course I didn't completely check out, because at that point I didn't have anything saved. But now it is loading me directly into the neighbourhood view.

I did try looking for Sim forums, but the ones I found had very few members because there are so many different forums, or no activity because everyone is playing Sims 2 now.

 


What folder are you looking in for the family? Are you in the right neighborhood? There's not supposed to be a load button on the neighborhood screen. You click on a house and it loads.

FlameIt was page 2. I made sure it was on page 2, but when I go to the lot I built the new house on, it is still empty. I don't have the option of looking in any folders on the game. It just takes me to the neighbourhood screen. I did try looking in my C drive under Sims, but couldn't find a link to it. I tried looking in programs under Maxi, but it doesn't give me an option to find a folder. When I get home I will try looking in the C drive under the name of the save House 2.Ok, if you're in neighborhood 2, then look in the C drive, and open that maxis folder, and open the Sims folder, and then double-click on UserData2. Double-click on the houses folder and see if it's there.

I just took my family I had created, moved them into a house that was already there, and then tore it down and rebuilt it.

It turned out really nice.

Well IM trying to play a game Called Conquer Online http://www.conqueronline.com. I have a Compaq computer with a Pentium 3 Processor 730mhz, 512mb ram, and on board graphics card. The problem is when I start up the game, when I get to the screen where you select the server all you see is different colored lines. So im assuming it is a Graphics Problem. So I tried playing it in 24bit but you dont even make it to the log in screen before you get an error that it has failed or something like that. 16bit MAKES it to the log in but you cant see where to type. Also, when I was trying on a previous INSTALL on my Computer I got a message about Virtual Memory and Paging File but I dont know how to increase the paging file. Also, i got a message about Microsoft C+++ or something im not really sure.

Also, try posting in their FORUMS - it may be a known issue, and they're possibly more likely to know what the problem is.

Go to Computer, Summary and tell us the contents of your display details. Once we find out your graphics card, we might be able to help you get the latest drivers. Is this the only game you are having difficulty with?you guys can delete this thread if you want im just going to put it on a different computer.

Edit: I tried a different installer and it worked.

The funny thing is....it ran on this exact same machine before i had the HDD replaced.

The first problem is, when i try to run the installer, i get nothing but a blue screen. Not the BSOD, just a blue screen, no TEXT, etc and i can alt-tab out and close the non-functioning setup.exe with TASK manager.

I did a manual install, but after that i cant get to the MAIN menue.....the colors are all screwed up, it wont even display, if i take a screenshot with print screen all it shows is a black screen.

Ive tried fiddling with display drivers, disabling the display device completely, turning off hardware acceleration, compability settings(do these even DO anything?) and it still wont work. I have no CLUE whats causing the problem. Any ideas why?

I am running the latest omega drivers for RADEON 9000 btw.

I downloaded a game (tottally Legal) it finished in .rar format I want to burn it to a disc, Now its in a folder when you open the folder its all .rar files..Now my main question is ..How do I burn it ? Would you do it the same way you burn music just add the files and burn away ?? Can you clear this up for me? thanxyou need to extract the RAR file(s).

once you have done this, we can proceed.The files do not need to be extracted and I attempted to burn it and all it did was burn the files not the game.. :-? hmm PLEASE post a pic of the game file then so i can see what you are dealing with.

to take a screenshot of just the foreground press ALT+PRINT SCN.  then open MS PAINT and paste. you can then edit any PERSONAL information and save the pic.Again need to extract files from .rar format, before burning.Provided the game files are not too big to fit on the disk, it shouldn't make any difference if it's in rar format or not. Just burn a "data disk". Or if you're using Windows XP you can just copy and paste it onto the disk in standard explorer, and click burn these to disk.

What do you mean burn the files and not the game? What exactly are these "files"? Is there a setup program?

A lag could be caused by ur internet connection or by ur hardware. If u want to upgrade any part of ur PC, it should be the graphics card. Give mea budget and ill tell u what u should buy.i did not say more RAM will fix the problem , i simply stated that because i observed that he only had half a gig. gaming systems nowadays have a minimum of 1gb.Check out www.blizzard.com I know that they are playing around with testing the new WOW which was moved to a release date of Jan or FEB. The rush of people jumping on board for the latest and greatest are probably overwhelming the existing WOW servers until the new release....

But there are many ways you can have lag ( Your system ( unlikely ), the internet ( Very likely ), Blizzard Servers ( Very Likely ), also their Bit Torrent Update Process ( Lags your system to update SOMEONE elses )...

Hope this shines some light on this issue ...  i think it might just be when i went on and the servers. cuz last night my lag was back to normal..

When I played in Alterac Valley in World of Warcraft, I found that decreasing my video SETTINGS helped out a TON.  I was lagging a lot in the battleground to the point I couldn't even lead my raid.  The only WAY I could was if I turned off my sound for my game and decreased my video quality.  Check something up that alley? 

Also, are you running through a router?  I had horrible problems with my routers with World of Warcraft.  I don't know why.

80 gig hard driveWhen they go choppy, is there continious harddrive activity? If yes, you need more ram. Otherwise your graphics card is the bottleneck of your system. Find out if there is a way to display the frames per second during the game... most games nowadays let you do this one way or another. If the value is less than about 25, a new graphics card is definately required. Or turn the detail down i would DEFINATELY suggest getting at least DOUBLE the amount of RAM you have right now. most low end gaming comps have at least 1gb of RAM.i have fear and i KNOW where he is coming from i played the game with 512mb ram with choppy spots in certain spots in certain levs (for ex the first lev ) WELL i got more ram and it helped out alot but fear is a really high required game if that makes sense just for awhile put everythin on low detail or customize it ,but since u got more ram than i HAD  u should mess around with customizeable options and put resolution on the 800 i think  and u should be playin ,but keep in mind there is updates for the game and yes on my comp there is still certain laggy spots tell me how it TURNS out(if u have beaten the game do u think fear is scarier than doom3?and dont u think it has the best storyline?)even ur cpu is faster than mine and i got a amd anthlon 64 bit and i really didnt have problems once i messed with the video and performance options,ya just mess with thevideo and performance options there is ALSO a test video for the performance options i think Quote

Track... you might have more experiance with good computers but I have more with not so good ones. I would rather play a smoother but poor looking game. When Windows accesses the paging file due to low ram, it causes choppiness regardless of the current frames per second being churned out by the graphics card.

If it's Socket A you'll need a new motherboard as you can't get a much better processor for Socket A, and then you'll need new RAM etc
If it's Socket 754, see if you can find a Socket 754 Athlon 64, they're not as good as the Socket 939 ones but they're much better than any Sempron and they're good for gamingLet's clarify our terms. u also get to be DIFFERENT armies too on the allied side im going to play with it some more and see if u can be the GERMANS and the other armies too..

you get to drive the jeeps the tanks and in some mission you get to call on air strikes and artilery strikes too..The only bad thing about the Xbox in the begining was t6he grandfather controlers but after they reduced them significantly in size the Xbox became the ultimate playing machine in its time with its only rival the playstation2 which it made to be only its shadow. The onlyn thing I missed about the playstation was its RPG'S . Microsoft just NEVER realy took to well to making RPG'S for the Xbox. The best games that playstation has ever made though would by far have to be the Final Fantasy's that was the only reason I even bought a playstation2.   Quote

I have the sims deluxe edition.  I know it will work on my computer because I have installed it once.  I had the game installed many YEARS ago, but uninstalled it because i didn't play it anymore.  I want to play it now though. The installation appears to be successfull. I choose play and the game begins to load. The load seems to go properly and the music seems to come to an end then right when the game should start the screen goes black, it sounds like my moniter goes off, then it dumps me to my desktop, and the game dissapears. I try to load the game again and the same thing happens everytime.  Why does the game crash at the 'Adjusting Emotional Weights' loading screen?  Any help would be greatly appreciatedIs this a GENUINE CD?

ChrisPlease run dxdiag at start -> Run and report which version of Direct X you are using. I had a similar problem with GTA VICE City, come to find out I had an older version of Direct X running and had to update it.

 :-/yea it is a bought cd.  I'm going to try out those things that were suggested and see if they work.  I don't understand why the game worked a year ago, but won't install now.  So i don't think it's a matter of my computer not playing, but something to do with a setting that is not letting the game run right.

For some reason, when i try to DOWNLOAD the game The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, it doesnt go to the setup screen, it just asks me to download Sony MPEG2-TS SPLITTER...Once im done downloading that, NOTHING else happens, it doesnt ask me anyting about downloading the game itself. I was wondering if anyone had experienced this before, and knew what to do to setup the game.

I bought a new computer for GAMING about two months ago, it is a duo processer 64 bit athlon with 2 gigs of ram and have a gforce 7600 256 VIDEO card. all of a sudden it takes 10 minutes to load even a short chapter. once loaded the game plays fine. what is the problem?You could have a slow harddisk, or CD-Drive, depending where it is loading from. Since you've not told US the game you are having problems with, or if it affects all of your GAMES, we cannot give any more specific advice. Have you made any system changes when this started happening?Did you do anything before this started happening?  Check for viruses, spyware etc
Also, defrag your hard drive if you haven't already done so, a fragmented HDD can cause slow loading times
Get the latest patch for your game and the latest GRAPHICS drivers

I need to find a good LAPTOP that will play the Sims 2 with high graphics OPTIONS, without a problem. (No jerkeyness, no studders, no messed up stuff)

Something with at least 128 MB Video Memory

Remmember the most imporatnt part of ur PC, by far, is the graphics card. Buy a 256MB card for around 150-200$ and the Sims 2 will run perfectly. Quote

i run on xp, am sure that my copy of windows isnt legitimate, if i purchased a legitimate copy from a computer SHOP, would this increase my performance for my pc?

I think ppl are mostly mad at u for "stealing" when they tell u otherwise. Its possible that he did not copy it correctly, but no one actually copies it today - we just use images and they are all well. If Windows Setup was missing files, it would not run well so u would know, but i doubt he installed this copy himself.

I just BOUGHT a new computer (XP) all the games that I had on my old computer ( also XP) will not load a full screen, I can see the top half , hear sound etc, but the bottom half of the screen is black ( or blue) I looked to see if it was maximized and ck on the compatibilty ( tried 98 and 95) but nothing helps..any IDEAS??? The only thinig I can think of at the MOMENT other than doing that would be to update your graphics card drivers. To be honest updating should fix it anyway.

This screen is displayed then. If I START up HL:OF and load a savegame, then it loads normally. But as SOON as I hit Esc and choose load/save game from the menu and try loading  the same (or another) game, it shows me that screen. I can still hear my shotgunbullets/myself walking/etc, but I can't get out of that little irritating screen that is displayed fullscreen.

Is a this problem and how can I RETURN to my gamescreen (not the menu)? I have also encountered this problem in the past but, this has been since I patched HL:OF from VERSION 1.1.0.8 to 1.1.0.9 and then from 1.1.0.9 to 1.1.1.0 (the weapons mods are cool, however =D)

I have this little problem that i cant figure out. On two different computers CONNECTED to the net through the same router I get kicked to the desktop from 3d INTERNET GAMING only. Could a router cause this problem?Are they the same games or diffrent games? Is it one perticular computer that gets kicked.

...so the problem is with your RAM.
...I *guess* it could be the RAM that's on your video card, too, but I've seen errors for when that happens and it doesn't use the term "Physical Memory"...

I'm going to assume that since you don't know what kind of video card you have you didn't build this computer yourself, and it's a name brand (Dell, Compaq, HP, ETC.).  Not to insult you if you did, but if you bought your computer from one of those companies, I'm going to assume your knowledge of what's in the PC is very limited.
If true, here's what you can to do: somewhere on your computer's case (not the monitor) there's a model number or serial number, or some type of unique ID that you can search for either with Google or on the website of the company that build the computer.

Let's see what kind of RAM you've got & how much.

Also, is the GeForce card in your computer the one that came with it, or did you have an upgraded one installed?RAM can be diagnosed by free download at www.memtest86.com

Well, I have a new addiction in the form of the CSI games and I am onto the third and final one, and my addiction is being severly hampered by an annoying game flaw. This is what happens...

Im on Case 2 'Crack or Jack'. I go to the location 'Sanchez' Car', the cut scene plays and then the location appears, then I get a pop up screen that states 'CSI Miami has caused an error in BINKW32.DLL CSI will now CLOSE' blah blah blah. I have tried downloading the patch for the game and this has had no effect. I have also tried downloading the bink file and replacing the game bink with the new DOWNLOADED one and that doesn't work because the game doesn't recognise it (because it doesn't recognise it as licensed???) and really I'm just lost. Does anyone have any tips? Thank you  Try reinstalling it.

What type of Internet security do you use? Did you try contacting the CSI game DEVELOPER technical support to see if its a known issue?Tried re-installing it after I downloaded the patch and then I STARTED the scene from beginning. I had experienced the same crash earlier in the game and re-installation seemed to fix it because the fault didn't occur in the same place but now it's happened again.

 I am in the process of downloading an " old Abandonware game " I want to know, after I have downloaded it how do I burn it to disk LIKE a game you buy in the shops today  :-?
In other words what I want to do is put it on disk so that it has to be installed like a bought game and the contents of the disk look like any other "new" game that you can buy today. As this game is abandonware there is no protection, but it was a commercial game once.  
If anyone is curious, or to save answering the question, the game is " Axis & Allies Iron Blitz Edition "

I am currently playing Dark Age of Camelot. My comp has an Asus m8r-mvp socket 939 motherboard, an amd 3200+ CPU, radeon x1600 512mb vid card, and 2G of pc3200 ram. It started about a month ago. The first few times it was days between CRASHES. Now as the days go by it's HAPPENING much much more frequently, to the point that now when I log into the game it's a max of about 5 min before it crashes. I built this comp back in july and have had no other problems with it, and it ONLY does this when i load into my game. I would appreciate any help and suggestions.Did you try patching it?

It was approx 60ish degrees in my house last nite, and the comp has way too many fans to have been overheated . I can play City of Heroes/City of Villians just fine without any interruption, and that game seems to put a heavier burden on my video card than DAoC does. I was wondering if I may have just corrupted a file or something while I was searching online with the game running in the background (like if maybe uninstalling and reinstalling the game would help, just don't want to if I don't have/need to as it's alot to reinstall and update all the patches in the process).I'd try reinstalling first.. lol the funniest movie about a game i have ever seen... i don't think i have seen before a funny movie about a game...

[size=16][/size] I did it!!!!! I did it!!!!!!  Ok,Ok,enough about me,here is my problem.  I love to play the Sims game,I downloaded too much stuff skins,objects,etc. I went download crazy. Well,after my download binge was over my game would not respond, So I uninstalled my game,then I reinstalled the game. Disk 1 will get to 95 PERCENT then a message sayin "COMPONANTS TRANSFER ERROR" pops up after that installation stops(I'm suppose to add disk 2)it REJECTS the rest of disk one,and cuts off. Then I uninstall  the disk again,to REINSTALL again :- Please help me, I miss playing my game Ooohh I forgot to mention that Iam a novice so everything must be EXPLAINED to me step by step                                                                                                                          I found a friend who was tryin to help me this morning ::)Thanx.                                                                                                                      You did it!  [smiley=thumbup.gif]

When I'm playing halo it randomly freezes for a couple of seconds then becomes scrambled and stays like that everytime time I play it until I restart my computer. It also happens with Mafia. My computer can handle Halo because I've been playing it for half a year at least. The only way I can avoid the scambled screen is to play Halo in safe mode but that just makes everyting in the game look boring  It has to do with something that both GAMES use because when I play one and it SCRAMBLES the other game starts off already scrambled Update your graphics card drivers and check the temperature. It could be overheating. How long have you had this problem? Do any games not have this problem? Does running on minimum settings avoid this problem?[td][/td]How would I update my graphic card drivers and check the temperature? I've had the problem for about a month. Mafia and Halo have the problem but Blood Omen 2 doesn't. I lowered my hardware acceleration a few minutes ago and halo seemed to work normal again but what else does this effect on my computer?spoke too soon its doing the same thing again Is the videocard fan still working?there are a number of free downloads that can check your case temps available.

Yeah the fan underneath the videocard ins't working.There you go. Either replace the fan or videocard.I took the fan out and found that its burnt out. The sticker on the opening above the motor is singed. Where would I be ABLE to buy a new one its labeled T&T MW-4510M12S.Try contacting the manufactor of the graphics card. The card might also be damaged from the overheating and could need replacing.If the card is burned, it's most likely damaged beyond repair. You could actually risk damaging more than just your videocard if you keep using it.I use fresh devices, freeware and they're pretty good for wat u get. haven't ever had any problems with them, download the programs and then put in you email and apply for some free licences. Programs include a download manager (Fresh Download), a tweaking tool (Fresh UI), a DIAGNOSTIC tool (Fresh Diagnose), and a multimedia manager (Fresh View)
