I recently downloaded the SLIM Version of CCleaner as advised by another member here. It downloaded and I clicked on Run Cleaner and it did. I am confused about the FOLLOWING utility programs, and am wondering if they overlap each other and could cause a problem. They all seam to be similar and trying to attack the same threads. I mean the following programs;
Threadfire, Spybot Search & Destroy, Wise Registry Cleaner 3 and Win Patrol. I appreciate if you could give me some directions regarding this. Are there any of these programs I should eliminate? Are some intervening with each other. Or should I install all of them for optimal protection? My old computer went down. I have installed Outlook 2000 on a new computer. I can access my old data via external connection. Where are the contact files located and what TYPE of files are they? The only pst files I can find is my last back up which is quite out of DATE. Maybe this article will help.

Depending on who your e-mail account is with you may be able to still use the account but you would access it through TBird instead of the AOL browser.
ThunderBird is loaded with features...easy to set up and supports MULTIPLE email accounts and addresses.
Both of these fine products are free from the good folks at the Mozilla Foundation.

I used to use realPlayer Beta on my old computer with XP.
My main usage was for listening to streaming audio from Internet radio.
There were two reasons I liked it: I could go back 5, 10, 20 MINUTES and

I am using HP compaq dx2255 model machine with windowsXP OS. In this am trying to install VMwareESXi server but didn't it showing MSCD001 error MESSAGE and unable to detect CD DRIVE.... it just going into DR_DOS and in the command prompt showing A:\DR_DOS> ....

Only for this SOFTWARE it showing like this rest working FINE with this CD drive.... and VMwareESXi cd is also fine.. no problem with this also

I have always used follow up flags in my outlook. very important to my job. I have always OPENED up a personal file account for more space. when I SEND a flagged email into a folder it has always tracked in in the follow up folder. I now got a new computer at work and again have created a personal files account but now when I flag an item it does not track it when I move it into the personal file. It will only track flagged EMAILS in my inbox. Once i move it out to any other file I loose the tracking OPTION and it is no longer in the follow up file.

Does anybody know what I need to do to keep emails tracked in the follow up folder when I send the email into a folder in personal file?

This is soo important to my job, I would REALLY appreciate any help provided. Thank you.

A NOTE of caution (if you haven't already been affected) Microsoft has recently (in my case yesterday) included in it's updates a security download for the above software. The END result of downloading this file is that you may well LOSE access to using Excel (and maybe more for all i know). With your help,I succeeded in establishing a base for my bookmarked websites.
I have 4 folders,so far,but cannot place the new website selected into the folder of choice.For some reason,the only folder on the entry menu is "SPORTS".The other 3 are unavailable,except by dragging,which,for me,is difficult.
I have NO idea how the one folder was placed there.Can you help me out?

Not clear what the problem is. FIREFOX lets you organize your bookmarks. And even if they are not organized, they are there and you can move them around later. He is a picture of my miss managed book marks that Fire Fox shows me. You click on the 'Bookmarks", (See the arrow?), and organize bookmarks is there.

Have you tried clicking 'Bookmarks' then either 'Bookmark this page' and select the correct folder or 'Organize Bookmarks' and you create a new folder, rename a folder. If it does not go to plan then just play around with these options until you get what you want. There is nothing BETTER than having a GOOD play around, that what helped me to learn it anyway.

I have discovered how to place new addresses from the address bar into various folders that I have created.
I am not surehanded,and the act of dragging lines into a specific place is a BIG problem for me.I cannot avoid running into other lines that I am trying to bypass.
The best process,for me,is to delete the addresses in the LIBRARY,and redo the transmission,from scratch,as a new addition.
It's a PITA,but it works.

this may be possoble or it may not be but i have been looking around for some software that would let me use my webcam as LIKE a virtule keyboard or SOMETHING. for instance if the camera was pointed at a peice of paper and i draw on it, it will try to draw the same thing in paint. any software that does anything of the sort or even remotly close would be fine with me.

I don't know of a defrag program that seperates out platters...this would involve quite a bit of math computations all depending on the size of the drive/how many platters etc.

I have done a google search on a string of CHARACTERS, in quotes, from the heading of an ad currently on CRAIGSLIST. Nothing found. When I randomly choose other ads and do a search on them, google finds them, even ads that are no longer on craigslist. Why can't google find the ad that I am specifically looking for?It probably NEEDS the WHOLE address not just a PORTION of the string...
Also on any sales website such as eBay and craigslist these items are put up and taken down at a furious pace...the item may no longer exist.

As the previous poster said, it's most likely just signature file.The file is a document file created by Printemaster software from Broderbund. I have yet to find a free viewer to view files in this proprietary format. The software is very cool, but they should allow the files to be saved in portable formats such as html or pdf but I don't know if they do yet.

I am useing the Oasis MP3 / Video / Radio Player by Mach Speed.

It came with a CD with a prgram that you use to convert you Videos into .AMV Files so you can put them onto the player.

When I put the CD in I get the install screen that TELLS me
you must have WIN98 Win 2000 on this Computer and it WANTS me to PICL on.

I have Win XP and I don't THINK I saw it on the list.

Newbie here, forgive me if I'm in the wrong forum.

I normally work on a Mac, but from time to time, we have to create Word templates for our clients and use the PC to create them. So I know my way around a bit in Word, but not all that well.

My problem is inserting an image.

We CREATED a template for our client, two columns of greeked COPY, pretty simple. When I try to insert an image, it does not show up. I can randomly click around the layout and eventually find the image, and then change the formatting to where it is behind the type. Very frustrating.

Is there a way to set up the document to where when it inserts an image, it will be in front or behind the type, instead of inline with the type?

Does that MAKE any sense?What version of Word? Exactly what technique/procedure are you using to insert the image? What type of image is it?

Can't remember how I created the columns, any suggestions?does the little image icon show up? Try draging it in an dropping it into it.Just read that you can not have your paragraph spacing set EXACTLY to an amount. I tried that and it pretty much works. The image appears instantly, but is still set to be inline with the copy.

It would be nice if there was a way to change the preference and have them insert behind the copy. Or would that only be POSSIBLE in the Mac version?

For those of us who are Word users but don't normally work with some of the features you're using, can you refresh our memory by explaining the "inline with the copy" and "insert behind the copy" techniques? What visual effect are you trying to ACCOMPLISH here? And, again, what version of Word are you using? sorry its just been a while since I did stuff with whatever version your usingRight-Click on the image, select Format Picture.

Hi i am doing an IT education in holland, and at my job i must install several programms automaticly without interferrence of a person.

at my job i must install a software package, with programs like java,OPENOFFICE,nero etc.

I am running Vista and for all i know it doesnt matter if u use a batchfile from XP in Vista.
Prefferably a XP version if there is a diffrence.

I have spent 2 weeks on this and all i came up with was this:

Ok it starts? REM is useless, exit and wait........ i start this batchfile and i have to click accept, so mission failed.

pretty pathetic this in 2 weeks dont you THINK?Do a google search for unattended installs...lots of info out there.I have taken that option into consideration but my boss does not allow such an install, that is a last resort.

I need to learn how to program a batchfile, or make a file that i have to click on and it will do everything i want it to do.You can use the Microsoft installer to do silent installs. Check out msiexec /? run at the command prompt for details or check this article for a silent install of OpenOffice.

I use Dell laptop with Window Vista .I want to CONNECT my samsung mobile phone with bluetooth feature to my laptop.I see Bluetooth device icon under control panel in the laptop.I have done my mobile bluetooth mode "On".I SET it NEAR the laptop but it is not SYNCHRONIZE with laptop.

You probably have to DLoad and install the software from Samsung's site...Also, are you 100% sure your laptop has Bluetooth?

I have a desktop Dell with Windows XP,I recently installed the software System Mehanic and need to uninstall this program as it is causing my computer to be very slow along with other problems.Will it be safe to uninstall it,as it says it has fixed several problem in my registry. HD HOOKED up via firewire at the moment cause alot of my USB ports are full and I dont have an esata port (nor would I be able to use some of the features on the drive using esata). want to see how much difference between USB and firewire. I know that firewire is 400mb/s and 480mb/s for USB, but thats max and WONT always hit those speeds.

i have a philips ls 1100 running on windows xp pack 3 . i try to play with a LOGITECH game pad controller i can t play with it in any games,it appear in game controllersas logitech cordless rumblepad 2 and say add. i clicked on that and picked from the list the closest thing from it (it s like a playstation controller 4 buttons behind ,4 on the side 2 tom STICK , 1 joy pad and 4 button in the middle )i tried all of them and got as a reply an error message: your game port or gameport drivers are not properly configured please consult device manager . which i did . i went in sound,video and game controllers but didn t find the driver for the pad.

Hi guys, I'm back with another question..

For several weeks now, my pc's been shutting down by itself (I'm watching a vid on youtube, browsing the internet, watching a video and then monitor is black and the pc turns off and restarts).

And I'm wondering if it has anything to do with Dumprep.exe? Once the computer reboots and the desktop is loaded, my Winpatrol POPS up with an alert saying that Dumprep.exe is going to add itself to the startup list (and Y: if its ok, or N: don't allow). So I click "No"

I did a search for dumprep tonight and found 4 results:

You can disable it by - right clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties and then the Advanced tab. Click on the Settings button in 'Startup and Recovery'. In the bottom pane - under 'Write debugging information' - click on the down arrow and then select 'None' - OK your way out
But....because of your problem, it may be helpful, so don't disable it, yet.

Open it, click Analyze button.

Hey Broni, how you doing? Did not know there was a program to identify causes of crash. And I use my 2gb flash drive for transferring files from one computer to another.. I always select "eject" before PULLING it out.. could this be the cause? Also, I'm currently using Sygate firewall, and I REMEMBER Sygate alerting me about NT Kernel when I first started using this. I didn't know what NT kernel was, so I put it on the "don't allow list" for Sygate.

Hi, my computer is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core 3800+ with 2GB of ram and an nVidia GeForce 7600 GT (256 MB I think) gfx card. My os is XP pro.

I've spent the last few hours trying to create a photo slideshow THAT WILL PLAY IN A DEDICATED WINDOW. I know that all I have to do to run a slideshow is hit "view as slideshow" in the sidebar of the photo folder, but it automatically plays in full screen - I do NOT want full screen.

I have downloaded several free apps, but it turns out that they're all just trial software that expires after 2 weeks.

I thought I found a solution in Google Desktop's photo gadget, but when I increase the size of the window, it doesn't adjust the photo to fit - ie, if I expand the window, the whole photo is NOT centered/resized - and therefore I cannot see the whole picture.

I run dual LCDs set to HORIZONTAL Span. What I would like to be ABLE to do, is have a slideshow on one monitor (as a window open on the desktop just like any other window, eg a Word document) and be able to continue to do other tasks in the opposite monitor (or even have the slideshow set up as a small window OCCUPYING only part of one screen). When I imagine this, I think of the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer (ie capable of zooming/skipping images), except running in a slideshow mode within that application itself.

Anyway, I've found this adventure unbelievably frustrating. Does anyone have any solutions? I'm looking for either a solution within XP itself, or a recommend freeware app.

=(E26)<(G26)>(H26)Are you saying that formula generates color coding of cells? It will highlight the cells that fall under the conditional formatting rule. It's not the formula that does the color coding, it's excel that colors it based on whether or not the formula applies. That was my point. His reply seemed to say he merely put the formula in a CELL. But, conditional formatting is needed to change cell colors. Also, the formula doesn't make sense. I opened Excel and copied the formula to a cell. The value in H26 can be anything; it has no effect on the other cells.

I needed some help with the program Coreldraw and I sould have been Posting it here.

I foundout more information and I think it will help someone fix my prablem. My program Coreldraw 11. have Corel Photoshop and everything els installed with it it is the whole Suite.

Coreldraw is the only one that will not open and if it does it only OPENS like two times then if I try to open it again it just does not open and it wont even give an Error.

If I click on a File I created with Coreldraw that is when I get a window that TELLS me Windows can't find the Path.

Now all the other programs that are Built into Coreldraw Photo Shop and everything els works greate.

I UN Installed it and Re Installed it and it still wont work.

Could it be something like my PC Tools Firewall???
The whole time when I was Installing Coreldraw 11. my Firewall was coming up saying that Coreldraw as trying to Access the computer and do I want to allow it.

I put a checkmark in REMEMBER and I clicked Allow.

And it whent in ok.

But can it be something els with the Firewall???Anyone???

I did see one thing when I when into Ad Remove Programs.
I go into Windows Componets and in the LIST of things you can Ad or Remove there is one thing called INDEX SERVICE.

And it has no Check Mark in it it is not Installed.

Are you running XP or Vista? Vista has problems with versions of Corel Draw earlier than X4 (14).

Have you tried updating your Corel? Their website has Service Packs for it.I whent into my Firewall program and toock out everything Coreldraw.
Then as I used Coreldraw whenever my Firewall WOULD come up and ask me to let Corel do something I put a Check in remember and I clicked YES.

I think this fixed all of my Corel problems.
