I am using XP Os. I wanted to put password in my pc from user account. But when I am clicking on user account . I am only able to see Title (ie. : User Account) and the WHOLE page is blank (White). So PLEASE tell me how should I use my user account to put password.
Are you using XP Home or XP Pro?

I dont know it the Pro/Home difference will matter much, or alot, but here goes.

Note please that this COULD result in you losing and encrypted documents, if you have made folders private.

Click start > Run.

Type compmgmt.msc in the box and push enter.

Under the local users and groups FOLDER in the tree DIRECTORY on the left, select the users folder.

You can then right click the user you want to set a password for, and select Set Password.

Hi all, I'm wondering if you can HELP me out.

I'm trying to figure out how I can utilise outlook 07 to fit my needs (and wants ).

Basically I have 3 email accounts ~ two personal and one business. I know how to add them to outlook either by just adding all the email accounts under one profile, or using separate ones.

But my question is if I WENT with OPTION one, having them all under one profile (and separating the accounts via rules into different folders), how can I configure it so if I WANTED to reply to a mail that has been sorted into my business folder, that it replies from the correct (business) email addy and not one of the other two?
This also goes for the other two personal email accounts ~ how do I make sure they have the correct reply info :/

The only way so far that I see, is by doing this under separate profiles, which would involve logging in and out all the time ~ which is not what I wanted (OTHERWISE I could just use the actual web accounts and not outlook >.<).

So any help would be gratefully received!

I'm not too sure how it would work but I have outlook 07 too, and I just use rules to filter my emails into folders and what not.

Outlook 07 by default will reply with the email account it was sent with, though you can specify which account to send it with when writing the email with the accounts button, just under send.

I had a macro in Outlook XP that entered a certain amount of text and formatted it. We use it in most of our EMAILS and immediately run it when creating a NEW email. It WORKED fine. (For what it is worth, I copied it into a Word 2007 macro and it worked fine there also).

I cannot figure out to create this macro in Outlook 2007. I went to trust center and enabled all macros with no security at all.

I went to Tools, Macros, Visual Basic Editor. In the top left box I created a new module and pasted in the text of the macro. But now I cannot figure out how to run it in a new email. In a newly created macro there is no tool option to call up a macro.

I try to run it within the visual basic editor, but I get an error message that says macros in this project are disabled and refers me to online help for how to enable macros.

How do I create a macro that I can run upon opening a new email that is to be sent?

I have an IBM T20 laptop that I am using SONAR 6 on. I recently had to reload Win XP SP2 and now my sound card FAILS to function properly for SONAR. SONAR and the sound card, Crystal Sound Fusion - on the MB, are both configured correctly but SONAR experiences audio drop out whenever I put it into record MODE as well as the laptop becoming very sluggish. I've installed the latest drivers and nothing changed.
Windows has been unable to restore to a previous point so I am ready to reinstall XP again, just WANTED to see if anybody had a better idea.

If so, doubleclick, tell us what they say for Device Status.

You can also try this while you are there:
Click the "Driver" Tab, and click "Uninstall"
Restart the computer, and see if anything is different. You may need to reinstall the drivers after uninstalling the hardware. NOPE, no device warnings.
Already tired rolling back the driver but not the remove/reinstall yet.

On my LAPTOP (Toshiba Salalite with Win-XP), when typing away in either MS Word or ANY email client, the curser will jump to another part of the document, for no ‘apparent’ REASON. First I assumed I must be hitting the Ctrl key by accident, but I think if that were so, then the curser would SURELY follow a pattern, and not end up mid sentence, and even mid word!!!!

I have a notebook Del C600 and the setup screen has seven pages. Only the first page appears and all commands are freeze. The Alt +P to change pages is inative and all othes comands in this first page too. What is going? The setup screen is the fist screen displayed when we press DEL or F2. In my case, the key is F2.
The Dell boot normally, An work well. I already repalced the memories, but the setup screen remained freeze. Why not flash the bios?

Hello. I just set up Microsoft Virtual PC to run Windows 98, I am using Microsoft Virtual PC to play a COMPUTER game called SPORTS Car GT. I also have a Logitech MOMO Racing Wheel. I can run the wheel on my XP, but on the virtual 98 I cannot. I DONT have a clue what do to, please help. You need to install WIN98 drivers on the Virtual side for it to work properly...um,, Can you explain a bit further...Yes.

Search for the Win98 drivers...
DLoad them...
Boot to the virtual Win98 install...
Install the drivers you just DLoaded.

I also took all the steps suggested as far as Kaspersky goes, making sure its not blocking the program....

One other THING, in my task bar the icon for VPN says 'A network cable is UNPLUGGED' and has a red x through it, the same as what it does when your internet isnt connected....

I need to install AutoCAD but I am running out of room on my HD. It shows my THUMBDRIVE as an OPTION but when I select the drive it says the path is invalid.

It will let me install to an external HD but I don't see the program or files after it installs. I really would RATHER have it on a thumbdrive than an external as it would be easier to carry.

Does anyone have any ideas? I tried the sandiebox app and the AutoCAD install fails almost immediately.

I believe it has something to do with AutoCAD knowing that the thumbdrive is different than the external HD. I have formatted the thumbdrive at ntfs too and it still doesn't let me select it during installation.

Any help would be appreciated. I need to do some testing with this application and use it for a demonstration next week. I am at a loss and pulling my hair out.

I doubt very seriously if AutoCad will run oof of a thumb drive...
The AutoDesk Forums list a few people who have attempted this but none have succeeded that i could see...
Course i didn't read every thread.

I would test this but my Project List plate is pretty darn full right now...Patio, I remember reading that you were able to install AutoCAD to an external. Were there any tricks associated with doing this?

One issue I have had with installing it on my test computer is that it asks for Disk2. I insert disk 2 and it reads until it asks to insert Disk1 again. At this POINT it never RECOGNIZES Disk1 and will not complete the install.

I have tried copying all of the files to the local HD and running it and it still asks for Disk2. If I run this type of install on my everyday laptop it installs fine without asking for Disk2.

Is there a file that I can manipulate to tell it to look in the current folder rather than to look for Disk2?Hi 2Kx2, Autocad onto a removable drive like those you put into your pocket is difficult and not the best when running the program. So that you do no damage to your software as autocad is expensive. You might like to try another very similar product that will also work from a removable drive and id completely compatable with autocad. The software is fully functional for 30 days so try it out and dont worry about messing it up. Looking for a little help here. I need to be able to print an invoice ( sized 5.5 x 8 1/2 size ) twice on a single sheet of paper. I have no problem getting MS word, or quickbooks invoices to print 1/2 size pages, or even two half size pages on a single sheet of paper. But it always prints the 2 different documents It will print page 1 and 2 side by side for me. But it will not print page 1 on the left and right side. Copy / Paste on the document does not help guys. I am RUNNING invoices with different info at all times. . I cant GET any SETTING to print the same info twice or four times on a sheet of paper.

I have heard there are a few aftermarket programs that can trick a printer into printign the same document twice, on a single sheet of paper.

I am open to all suggestions, even hiring some programming time if necessary, providing that I get the results I need.

Any ideas gang?

QuickbooksWhen you print the same OBJECT more that once on the same paper it is called a label. Like address label. Price label. Word does not have setting for invoices, but it does do labels.

Are you sure quickbook does not print invoices? There has to be a setting for it if you are using a standard invoice.

My Recordings keep getting a blue line on the SIDE, I find this irritating and I need a video cropping software to get rid of it. Does ANYONE know one? Please not VidCrop, as that leaves a watermark.what do you mean a blue line on the side? Does that have something to do with the software you are using? Or your hardware has a problem?

I'm very sure it's my Hardware. I use a DVD recorder to RECORD walkthroughs of games, however, when burnt to disc and tranfered to my laptop, the VOB file has a blue line extending top to bottom on the entire right side.

some recipients tell me that they have

Thunderbird - the folder has to be processed before

Yahoo - I have to continually sign in despite fact
I click on 'keep me signed in' button

this program is too 'busy busy' an email

Gmail - just TRYING this programs but again I have
to sign in every time I access it despite
the fact I click the keep signed in button.



With all the programs, I find the help screens less than helpful. Either cannot find my particular problem, or the membership help replies are unclear, often repetitive orthey reinterate to do what I said I had already tried.

Am sure all email programs have their 'faults' but these seem to be major ones that prevent ease of using email and daily frustration in trying to make them work/get help.

Can you clarify what I should be/can be expecting of an email program and perhaps point me in a direction of one that is feasible most of the time? Or better yet if there is help here re these programs would be happy posting questions re one particular program until I get it configured so that it works well

I have printed out what you told me about Links and Tartegs.

And still it does not seem to wok.

If I want to MAKE a LINKE on my Web Page and I want it to go to a WORD on the same Web Page will I be right.

That I will make the Link like any other HyperLink
And the WORD I want it to go to I have to make like this

I wonder if anyone could help me? I would like to create a batch file that automatically logs a specific user onto an XP MACHINE even when the user account is PASSWORD protected. After LOGGING on, this PC would then have all menu's disabled, and would run Internet Explorer at startup and this WINDOW would be locked and be unable to be closed. This is not malicious in any way, this machine would be used to access web base SERVICES on a LAN and the users would not need to see any menus or customise any options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I was wandering through my speedfan today and came across the Exotics tab.

All looked fairly normal (CPU temps were through the roof as were HDD temps at I only have the CPU fan running at the moment and both side panels off, and backing up to 2 20GB drives all my important STUFF for when my new build arrives. And for lack of room in my case...there are 4 7200RPM drives stacked on top of each other...gets kinda hot

anyway that was when I came across what I put a big red box around in the screenshot.

I'm not 100% positive on this, but when I discovered it myself a few weeks ago (been a while since I'd used Speedfan before that) it seemed to roughly correspond with the drive's health/PERFORMANCE ratings in the SMART tab.
Remember that the Exotics feature, as it says at the bottom, is still in beta stage, so it may not even relate to anything.Okay that seems entirely possible

I am trying to install the software for my BROTHER MFC-240C onto a relatively new Vista OS computer. I downloaded the software from the brother site and proceeded to install and it has frozen about 9/10ths of the way though. It says it is "Writing Registry information....." and yet it has now been at that point for 2 hours. CLEARLY something is wrong.

Thanks for the reply. However I checked the manual weeks ago and there is nothing in the manual that addresses this problem. Since then I have spoken with Brother support staff twice for over an hour each time to no avail. I have tried installing from the software CD, from a download from Brother each with no success. I have closed my firewall, removed my anti virus program ( primarily because it was a free trial which came with the computer) have waited to install a new one and closed my anti spy ware program, and closed windows guardian knowing that each of these programs can interfere with installation of some software. I have checked device manager and there are no problems listed there. None of these steps has helped.

It appears that something is stopping the Brother printer software from successfully writing to the registry. Do you have any idea what WOULD be interfering with writing to the registry?
PaulTravel to Device Manager and remove the printer.
Travel to Add/remove programs and uninstall all instances of Brother software.
Power down.
Unplug the printer ( leave it unplugged until it asks you)
Reinstall the Brother software from the CD and see what HAPPENS...

I used to USE Word 97 but have recently upgraded to 2000.

The problem is simple. Fonts that were supported in 97 are not in 2000.

hello everyone. Does anyone know if you can create a batch file to run at the beginning of a DVD to start a specific program.

For example, I if I wanted the DVD to play in div-x, can a batch file be attached to the beginning of a DVD to force it to run in that program?

If you just want the DVD to play in a certain player, depending on what OS you're using, you can use autoplay.

FBYes, I know that. I'm creating a DVD for my company, and they want it SETUP that way. So, when who ever puts the DVD into their personal computer, it will automatically open in "x" DVD player.

Your best bet is to create some kind of flash based video player that runs on putting the disk in.

Well I would think as long as you had VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS the DVD player would still recognize it.

You could always look int creating a hybrid-DVD too.

These work by putting more then one session on the DVD.
The first session being the DVD, the second being the computer partition, and seeing as computers can recognize both sessions you could have your batch file located there.

The advantage with this is it will work 100% in both, and you could also "hide" the DV portion, preventing it from being "ripped"

Cant download progs, cant save to other pc and transfer with USB stick.

I have Windows Vista and a new COMPUTER. I downloaded corel office 2000. WP works just great. QP will not open correctly. When I close the window, another will open over a spread sheet page with the message Quarto Pro has stopped WORKING. This is my first posting. I need suggestions from users as to the best and most versatile slide show software. What I want to do is take about a thousand of my photos and arrange them into a slide show that can then be burned onto a DVD for viewing on a standard television screen. I have tried several, such as PowerPoint, Roxio, and Wondershare, and all were inadequate to my needs in some regard. Perhaps someone on this web site can direct me to a slide show software that will FIT my needs.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop with Windows Vista. I prepare my photos in Adobe Elements 6, so the usual "themes" and "templates" in slide show software are unnecessary. (I'm not planning on adding music or narration either.) I just want the photos to be front and center on their own. I'll list below what I need in the software, and hope someone will know of a program that will match them:

1. As noted, it must work with Vista.
2. It must have a large capacity for photos, at least 700 at a time, more would be better.
3. The software must give me the option of assigning a duration time and transition effect to each individual photo. Too many programs offer "randomized" effects, or "automatic" and "apply to all" production, and I need more personal control of the images than that.
4. It must be able to be burned onto a DVD for television viewing.

Before I began my software search, I ASSUMED those would be pretty standard options, but I was wrong. And a lot of software boxes, and websites, don't provide enough detailed information. was this system infected with anything before this... sounds like the cmd was replaced with another cmd in system folder. Some virus's try to protect themselves from removal by blocking access to cmd prompt and others kill task manager taskmgr.No my system was not infected before. I was wondering if there is any program out there that can check a blank DVD before you record on it, to see if there are any bad sectors or error that may cause the DVD not to record or FINALIZE CORRECTLY?

FESCD's DONT work in the same WAY as a hard drive.

A blank CD has no filesystem to check, and THEREFOR, it cant really be checked for errors that accurately.

On your CD Burning program, check the box that says: "Verify". This will verify the contents of the CD.

I just bought a new hard drive and need to be able to move some of my programs over to the new drive. I have an external hard drive that i moved all of my files ONTO and have moved those onto the new drive. However I have programs that I need to move over.

Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions. :-)

Apart from the legal ramifications only programs which are portable (are not installed) can be copied from one disk to another and still work. A program INSTALLER may/will install data in other locations such as the Registry, these entries will not be copied with the program therefore the program will/may not run.

It's always best to re-install software.

Good luck.It depends if they're reliant on the Registry or not. If not then you should be able to move them over, if yes, then no, you'll have to reinstall them.The long way to do it would be to backup everything onto your external HD and (providing there is backup software with it) copy everything back to your new hard drive. Then off course you could download ERUNT, backup the registry, and then copy that over to the new hard drive.

Hello, I am trying to change the font size of a page on my site. I connect to the site with file zilla using the following steps:

1.) I open file zilla.
2.) then i type the host name (blablabla.com) the username (*********) and the password (********) and the port (****) then i click quick connect.
3.) this now connects and it does let me see all the files. i get access and ability to change on the right SIDE (the site side).

my two main questions now are :

1.) How do i make it show when i access the site because it is not (even if i delete the whole site name folder the site is still there)

2.) Do i have to set up the FILE> "SITE MANAGER" with the user information too..... even though i can see and change the files on the right side (the site side) and it even though it connects. (Is setting up the "site manager" required in order to finalize changes or something.

Any time you change or upload files to your server the files will automatically be time and date stamped. But I think you are talking about something else...?

It would be a good idea to add your server and connection details to the 'Site Manager' as this will save you some time if you frequently update your website.I had to read it several times, but he's saying that when he uploads a file, it gets uploaded to the server, but the file does not actually change when he visits the website on his computer.

Possible reasons and fixes:

Reason: Your computer has a cache of your website and isn't getting the newest VERSION of the page.
Fix: Try clearing your temporary internet files. If you don't know how to do this, ask and I'm sure many others here will be willing to assist.

Reason: You could be uploading to the wrong directory.
Fix: My own hosting company has two directories. One is named "www" and the other is named "html_files" and if I upload to the "www" directory, it will instantly get replaced by the backups in "html_files." Thus, I need to upload the files to "html_files" in order for the system to PROPERLY replace the files on the server. If you are not sure which folder you should be uploading to, most companies have a customer support you may contact for help, or if they have one, check the FAQ.

1.) can i make a blog site for free on many different sites (example geocities.blablabla.com) and implement the Google Adsense into them. (this will give me much more clicks)

I used to relish the "Faster Web Surfing" through the GWA but it no longer seems to be working now!

Icon stays very MUCH "Dormant" at the tray! Why Google maestros have stopped its download & probably its functioning as well?

& Is there an alternative in the "Freebie" category? GMA and other "Web Accelerators" don't do anything as far as a SPEED up in your connection speed.
