Solve : Win XP .gif view to Win7?? |
|
Answer» I was really sad when I saw that the Windows7 dose not support .gif VIEW, so I did a lite search and found you can open it with your browser or get Infraview, so I did some more search on if you can import the XP gif view to Win7 but didn't find anything. You can open them but you can't watch them..gif files are normally just still images. Are you talking about an ANIMATED .gif? If so, you'll NEED a third-party software such as Infraview. Quote So can you get the old Win XP .gif view into Win7?UMM, what is "the old Win XP .gif view". Windows XP had no tool to view animated .gif files. If you're saying it does, then what is the software you're talking about? Ok, someone can close this, at this time I know none of you guys can help me.How about answering the questions in my previous post? |

Solve : Can't open My Document folder-Win 7? |
|
Answer» My Acer laptop came with WINDOWS 7. My last computers are all with XP. My biggest surprise is my access to My Documents is denied, even though I am the only user, and presumably the administrator. What's the solution to that?Quote from: paulpingpong on July 22, 2010, 07:09:05 PM My Acer laptop came with Windows 7. My last computers are all with XP. My biggest surprise is my access to My Documents is denied, even though I am the only user, and presumably the administrator. What's the solution to that? So your saying you cannot access 'my documents'? This seems a little strange. Maybe a language barrier.Starting with Vista, the word "My" was removed from all of the personal folders for each user. In other words, XP's "My Documents" became Vista's "Documents." However, some programs were written to actually look for the words "My Documents" rather than a variable, which makes them scream bloody murder when installed in Vista. The workaround Microsoft implemented was to create JUNCTION points, which would allow the program to see the name it was used to and then route it to the correct PATH (a translator, if you will). Windows 7 confuses things even further. Because of the addition of libraries, and the fact that it uses the name "Documents," the real "Documents" folder was given the alias "My Documents." Although it appears that Windows 7 went back to XP's naming convention, it really uses Vista's. My guess is that you're double-clicking the junction point "My Documents," and getting the "Access denied" message. This is normal, as the junction point is not a real path--it's a way to get old programs to see the RIGHT spot when it's used to the XP way of things. What you need to do is get to it by one of these methods: a) The Start Menu, method 1: Start -> your user name. Then click My Documents (this is an alias for the Documents folder). NOTE: Start -> Documents won't get you to where you want to go. Start -> Documents is the library, not the folder. b) From "Computer" C:\Users\your username\My Documents (again, this is an alias--right-click the folder, go to Properties, and then click the Location tab to confirm this).Problem solved. I have to change the ownership from the default "Systems" to me in Properties. Thanks. No problem. Ownership was going to be my next suggestion. |

Latest AVG antivirus + antispyware have much better fix and protection. Can you still BOOT to desktop?i bought my computer with it i bought it as a disk yes i can still boot to desktop only thing is an error message shows up saying that .dll file is missing which is in quarantine at the moment i tried cleaning it but my antivirus told me to wait until i have an update that can clean that virus so that i can restore the file back to its original location |

Solve : computer gets stuck at "verifying DMI pool data"? |
|
Answer» So a couple of weeks back i restated my computer (from the button not via windows) and when it booted again it froze at verifying dmi pool data...
...meaning you installed Windows 7 on it and it was able to boot to the operating system? If so, then it could be the hard drive or... Quote , but i also tried my hard drive in other peoples computer which also worked Not sure how that could be unless they have the exact same motherboard (or, at the very least, hard disk controller). Unless, of course, you were just looking for whether or not the computer could read the hard drive's data, rather than whether or not it can boot to the operating system installed on that hard drive? Quote so its doesn't work when i have my computer and my hard drive in at the same time ...and? Error messages? What happened? Quote so now I'm running out of ideas please help I'm going to assume that the drive's data is accessible, but the operating system is damaged to the point where Startup Repair can't fix it. Time for CHKDSK. Boot to the Windows 7 DVD like you did when you RAN Startup Repair, but this time, go to the command prompt, type in the following, and press Enter: chkdsk c: /r After CHKDSK finishes, look at the number of bad sectors it found. If that number isNOT zero (0), then you've got a failing hard drive. Do what you did to get the drive working on your friend's computer, and copy the data off of it before you lose it permanently! Otherwise, if the number is 0, then the drive is likely fine, but you still need to do something about your jacked-up operating system. Do what you did to get the drive working on your friend's computer and copy the data off the drive. Or better yet, just install Windows 7 on that new drive you mentioned.-yea i tried another hard drive in my computer (just plugged it in the IDE port) and booted off of the and it got into windows and everything.. worked fine -I'm not sure what you mean in "unless you had the exact same mother boared" i just plugged it in and it worked fine no problems... -no error messages so far at all... when i used the windows 7 disk to restore it said restore done successfully and same thing with the fixing boot option in the windows 7 disk said it was all fine and still no dice -running the disk check now thanks a lot for helping OK i did the disk check and it said 0 in the bad sectors area.... anymore suggestions?Quote from: juicebox on July 20, 2010, 11:13:05 PM -yea i tried another hard drive in my computer (just plugged it in the IDE port) and booted off of the and it got into windows and everything.. worked fine You're still not telling me everything. Did you have BOTH the old AND the new drive connected when you did this or did you have ONLY the new drive connected? If you only had the new drive connected, then I don't see how your computer WOULD even start up! It has to find an operating system somewhere! Quote -I'm not sure what you mean in "unless you had the exact same mother boared" i just plugged it in and it worked fine no problems... Then it sounds to me like you had both the old and the new plugged in. You're troubleshooting this all wrong. If the problem is your old drive, leaving your old drive plugged in is not going to fix the problem. However...I can think of one scenario in which all of these conditions apply: 1) Plug in old drive only, won't boot. 2) Plug in new drive only, won't boot. 3) Plug in old and new drive, boots up fine. In this scenario, your operating system's BCD database is all jacked up--meaning that BCD and BOOTMGR are on one drive, but yet it's pointing to the GUID of the other, so your computer will only start up with BOTH drives connected. There's an easy way, a "work-if-you're-lucky" way, and a hard way to fix this. Easy way: Back up your data, wipe, and format. Make sure ONLY ONE drive is connected while you format and reinstall Windows 7. Otherwise, this may happen again (BCD on one drive, the OS partition on another). Work-if-you're-lucky way: Connect ONLY the boot drive to your computer, and boot from the Windows 7 DVD. Run the Repair My Computer wizard like you did last time. Hopefully, a working BCD will be restored to the proper location... Hard way: Try to move the System/Boot partition and the BCD database to the C drive. Good luck with that one...sorry i wasn't very clear.... OK so my computer works if ANYOTHER hard drive is plugged into it... but it doesn't work if my hard drive is plugged in to my computer (the one I'm having problems with) but if i plug my hard drive into SOMEONE Else's computer it works fine.. so the only way my computer wont boot is if i have my hard drive in it but i know the hard drive boots because i have plugged it into another computer and it boots with no problems..... so how would i go about moving the System/Boot partition and the BCD database to the C drive?or is there any good recovery programs that could fix my boot?and btw i have already tried both using the wizard on the windows 7 disk to fix my boot and also used system restore via the windows disk but still nothing Hard drives since WinME are not able to just be "swapped" from one machine to the next and expected to work properly as Windows "ties" the install performed to the current hardware the machine has...so you either got lucky trying it this way or the machines may have been similiar. In a nutshell this approach is doomed to fail. Slave Drive Tutorial The above will allow you to retrieve any important data... Then do a full wipe and a clean install of whatever flavors of Windows you plan to use.Thank yous for the help i reformatted and all seems to be going well... and it odd about the swapping hard drive thing cause i tried 2 different hard drive in my computer which booted fine :S one was similar to my computer but the other one was running xp and it booted fine but anyways its all working again |

Solve : Missing Volume Icon in Taskbar? |
|
Answer» For whatever reason, the Volume Icon in the Taskbar was missing when I booted up my Windows 7, 64 bit, yesterday. I looked in the Sound area of the Control Panel and there was nothing there that would help, then I posed a generalized question regarding missing sound icons in my Search Engine and found that the Icon for Sound was residing in the Clock in the Task Bar??? Who would have figured that one? Anyway, I right clicked on the Clock and clicked on Properties and there it was. However, I couldn't turn it back on as it was "GREYED" out. Have any of you run into this problem and solution? Thankshave you tried restoring the icons to default behavior? or turning the icon back on? what seems to be your problem? Thank God for thunderboomers...... AMEN, I would have to agree. i had a friend that lost a couple of desktops to thunderboomers. thankfully i have been diligent in having adequate surge protection as all should on electronics of any kind |

Solve : what is this program.exe that hacks up the CPU?? |

Answer» My computer is somewhat slow today and I go to check the taskmanager and I see this program.exe listed and the description says Microsoft Seaport Search Engine. It was using 88 or so % of CPU. And NEVER use msconfig to make permantent changes to startup items. I like to use ccleaner to disable startup items that I would like to disable. i use ccleaner and msconfig. but thats just meQuote from: talontromper on July 26, 2010, 03:53:12 PM i use ccleaner and msconfig. but thats just meUse whatever you like, but please don't suggest that others do the same on the forum.alright, but why say that msconfig is bad to use to make permanent changes to start-up programs? Yes, i do know that selecting the wrong programs can mess you system up, and I'm thinking right now that i just answered my own question.msconfig is a diagnostic / TROUBLESHOOTING utility. It is not intended to be used to do simple housekeeping chores. There are any number of good, very simple utilities for changing startup items - not the least of which is Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel. Very true, i will refrain from posting that from now onGood news indeed... Feel FREE to suggest Startup CPL from now on instead... Kudos to Mike Lin... |

Solve : Strange screensaver behavior? |
|
Answer» I have a NEW, freshly built system, running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. This sort of cancels out the point of having a screensaver. Actually, there hasn't been a "point" to having a screensaver for nearly 20 years. Thanks for that. I am USING the "Bubbles" screensaver. I suppose I should have checked by using one of the others (like the blank screen). I've always understood that even with LCD screens there is still a risk of screen marking if they are left displaying a high contrast image for long periods. Plus I don't always want people to see what I'm working on if a leave my DESK for a while. Best regards, Brian |

Part of the problem is most people don't generally deal with computer problems. So for most they think that close enough is good enough. Solve : unallocated space !!!! (windows 7)? |
|
Answer» hi, You need to learn how partitions works. You are only allowed 4 primary partitions or 3 primary partitions & 1 extended partition. You already seem to have used the second type. Try making it a logical drive instead of a primary one. If that doesn't work you'll have to delete one of your partitions to create them the proper way. Lets pretend they don't know what there doing.hi, thx for your help, actually i have extended that 50gb back to my c drive now.... can u pls help me to create a new partition now ... i need to add 50gb to the partition where i have installed ubuntu..I don't like to extract information from a person. With that said make sure any follow up replies include the necessary & clarified information or don't expect a reply from me. Do you WANT to ADD that 50gb to the linux partition or do you want to CREATE another partition in that 50gb? Both your posts conflict. You say one thing in one and another thing in the other. As I said before, you currently have 3 primary partitions & 1 extended partition. The extended being backup (d). I said you can either have 4 primary partitions or 3 primary & 1 extended. By adding that 50gb to c you haven't changed anything for your partition situation. You are still where you were before. I don't make a habit of extending & shrinking partitions. With that said why didn't you use those 50gb to EXTEND the linux partition? I'm going to assume you tried but got an error message? I think you can only shrink or extend partitions that are next to each other so you couldn't extend your linux partition with the 50gb because the windows partition was in between? Is your linux partition very important to you? If not delete it. Then you can shrink your windows partition like before to have 50gb of unallocated space. You will now be ABLE to create that 50gb partition because you will have 2 primary partitions & 1 extended, leaving room for 1 more primary. Also, do you know what that 118mb partition is? Did you create it or was it there when you installed windows? Chances are that if you have a pc from dell or hp then that partition is a recovery tools partition. You can delete this instead of the linux partition & be able to create that 50gb partition you want. However, I caution you that deleting this partition can possibly leave you UNABLE to boot to any OS if it holds the boot record. So if you're not sure what it has in it and you don't know how to recover it if you delete it then I suggest you leave it alone. |

How can I fix this? When I click on my Windows live mail it opens up the sign in box where it asks for my password. Once you setup your account the first TIME and it PULLS your mail in, that mail will be viewable whenever you open windows live mail whether you login or not. Windows live mail is assuming you have permission to open that account because it was created in your windows profile account. So it's not going to stop you from seeing emails that are already in it. If you login to windows with another profile account you shouldn't see your email from your other windows profile account. If you did then I would be worried. Solve : Restore computer back to factory setting or 64 bit windows vista? |
|
Answer» I was trying to restore my Gateway computer back to original factory settings by using the internal reboot f8 option, but I accidentally shut the computer down while it was reformatting and then I just couldn't get back to that option of rebooting the computer. Therefore, I DECIDED to use the operating system disc that Gateway gave to me when I first purchased this product, and it worked. But, the only problem is I just can't SEEM to get the 64 bit VERSION of windows vista despite the fact that I clicked that I want the 64 bit version. I tried reinstalling the operating system 3 times clicking the 64 bit version all 3 times and yet I STILL get a 32 bit windows vista. How can I fix this? And, can I still somehow restore the computer back to original factory settings even though I reinstalled the operating system? This may seem a stupid QUESTION as my restore is on a partition so I have never seen the disk. What does it say on the boot disk? Does it say Vista 64bit on there? Or just 32? |

Solve : Can't Open My Theme, Properties>Theme>NOTHING? |

Answer» using WINDOWS Vista 32-bit Also this should really be posted in software and not in win vista and 7 as it has nothing to do with either product. It doesn't? Is this so? Not being able to Open The theme dialog, which is part of Windows Vista (I'm assuming this is what they mean by "properties->theme" since there is absolutely nothing even close in Vistaglazz) , has nothing to do with Vista? Solve : Volume Control Problem? |
|
Answer» Hey, I am running Vista 32 bit and I am having a problem with volume control. I am listening to MUSIC on Windows Media Player at the same time as talking to somebody on SKYPE. But when I turn down the volume for WMP only it doesn't work, so I have to listen to the music really loud or else I won't hear my friend on Skype. And you don't THINK it's rude to have music playing on your system while speaking with someone via Skype? Try it without WMP active and see what happens. The thing I don't understand is when you say ... But when I turn down the volume for WMP only it doesn't work, so I have to listen to the music really loud or else I won't hear my friend on Skype.... it seems that you can't hear your friend's VOICE if your music is not loud enough??? |

Solve : Can't download Windows Live? |
|
Answer» Recently I have been having PROBLEMS with windows messenger. OS is windows 7. Windows messenger will not open, it says Problem with windows messenger trying to fix the problem and it never does. Anyway i uninstalled messenger and reinstalled it. it worked for all of 2 MINUTES then jumped into the problem box again. So I uninstalled it again this time when i go to the download page it will not let me install windows LIVE because it says I already have it.This SEEMS to be a common problem with Windows 7. There also seems to be no quick fix. It may be worth waiting for Microsoft to pull there fingers out.Ok that explains that. I still need to FIND out how to dowload windows live. Its telling me I have all of Windows Live programs on the installation page but I don't. |

Solve : odd partition on hard drive? |
|
Answer» My mother in law installed Windows 7 on an HP laptop (Vista was ORIGINALLY on there). There is a partition on the hard drive a little over 1 Gigabyte in SIZE, not being used by her. At first glance it appears that nothing is in it, but enabling hidden files to show up revelaed some operating system files in it.. I don't recall exactly what they were... $RecyclingBin and Some other file... I didn't want to delete the partition because I didn't want to mess up the Windows installation.. Does Windows 7 create this partition when being installed, for some reason ? I haven't any of the Windows 7 release documents. I know some Linux OSes create temporary partitions on the drive when being installed..No, Windows 7 does not create any partitions or install any "hidden files" on a separate partition. That was probably a recovery partition created by HP for the original Vista installation.hm, ok thanksSure.Quote from: Allan on August 02, 2010, 07:15:35 AM No, Windows 7 does not create any partitions or install any "hidden files" on a separate partition. That was probably a recovery partition created by HP for the original Vista installation. That notion occurred to me but 1GB does not seem correct for a recovery partition. On my Compaq laptop, which came with Windows Vista, the recovery partition is about 6.5GB.yes the laptop does have a separate recovery partition roughy 7 Gigabytes as you discribed. If it's not from Win 7, what is it ? Maybe I should have called this thread "The Phantom Menace" I would do some googling on this, but I'm at my wit's end with this DIAL-up connection... I feel like over 50 percent of the time I sit in this chair I'm waiting for pages to download, it's far worse when encrypted sites are visited. It sucks going from dsl to dial up... We are moving tomorrow where we will have dsl again Quote from: grandpa_simpson on August 03, 2010, 01:17:17 AM yes the laptop does have a separate recovery partition roughy 7 Gigabytes as you discribed. If it's not from Win 7, what is it ? Maybe I should have called this thread "The Phantom Menace"You said the computer originally came with Vista. So, that recovery partition would be for the original configuration of the computer with Windows Vista. And, why are you now acknowledging a recovery paritition of "roughy 7 Gigabytes"? You previously said "There is a partition on the hard drive a little over 1 Gigabyte in Size". Quote If it's not from Win 7, what is it ? I was reffering to the 1 Gig partition when I said this.. Sorry about the confusion... There are three partitions on the drive.. The Active Partition C:\, the recovery partition (7 Gig), and the mystery 1 Gigabyte partition, which has hidden operating system files in it..What are the files in this partition? I'm wondering if it is a boot partition. SEEMS pretty big for a boot partition, but I've seen some pretty large boot partitions before when os upgrades were involved. In the 1 Gigabyte mystery partition, as I put it, there are only two files/folders... I'll try to get them and post back, I don't remember off hand what they were... |

Solve : Win Vista home: copy & paste comes and goes? |
|
Answer» You're welcome and I'm glad cut/copy/paste is working. I can't imagine how it could be related to new definitions being downloaded.Quote from: dixieflash on August 05, 2010, 09:55:13 AM Well, wouldn't you know - copy and paste has revived itself with no action on my part. Hmmmm??? Auto fill generally runs off a master password.. is there a section in Norton that allows you to VIEW this.. sorry it's been a while but I know there is a master password.. possibly check your browser for Norton settings.I agree with lostcoast here re: the fact that Norton is far less then it once was. That being said, I've never actually been one of their customers so can only relate to the many horror stories that I've heard from friends/relatives/neighbors about it. Either way, this back and forth "Norton sucks", "does not" "Does to!" "Does not!" isn't really constructive regardless. EDIT: curse all you, now my reply is 5 posts too late... Quote Seems like every time Norton Security downloads then auto-restarts, I can't copy say from Comcast email and paste to a Word Pad file. When you say "Comcast email" is this a special client program that installed by your ISP, or are you accessing it via another browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc). If the latter, you could try another browser. If the former, it might be that you need to restart after an update because Norton hasn't properly closed it's Clipboard viewer hook chain which therefore busts pretty much all the other installed clipboard viewers, essentially rendering copy-paste inoperative. If possible if you can find a way to do a complete "restart" of Norton (that is, all it's processes are stopped and restarted) then the clipboard viewer chain hook registered to Norton will no longer point to a loaded module and windows may automatically remove that particular item from the chain. I know this is the way it often works with other hooks, I have no reason not to believe it's the same for clipboard hooks as well. Well, I poked aroound in the Norton settings, etc, did not change anything, BUT now it is auto filling the passwords again! Thanks to all. DixieflashQuote from: dixieflash on August 05, 2010, 10:33:58 AM Well, I poked aroound in the Norton settings, etc, did not change anything, BUT Glad we could help For the record, yes, this Norton whatever program comes with Comcast ISP. It had Macafee, which I had no problems with, but they changed. Norton is okay when it works, I guess. Thanks again for your help. Dixieflash Just fyi, there is nothing worse than McAfee. You've made a very positive move going from that to Norton.Quote from: Allan on August 05, 2010, 11:52:46 AM Just fyi, there is nothing worse than McAfee. You've made a very positive move going from that to Norton.Well, Comcast made a very positive move. She just accepted what Comcast issued. By the way, dixieflash, you could, if you so choose, uninstall Norton and still use some other anti-virus or another internet security package. But, if Norton is working OK for you now, you might WANT to stick with it. I really haven't followed developments with Norton in recent years but I'm willing to give some credence to Allan's comments about the fall and rise (the coming back in recent years) of Norton. On another note, unfortunately, this discussion provides no clue about why or how the issues have mysteriously corrected themselves. Quote from: Allan on August 05, 2010, 11:52:46 AM Just fyi, there is nothing worse than McAfee. You've made a very positive move going from that to Norton. I may or may not agree with you and I will not state here. But this kind of conversation should be carried out in the malware section of the forum. Then we can get some sage advice not just personal beliefs. We risk giving conflicting (and dangerous) advice doing this here. That is why the Malware/virus experts exist. And there section. In poking around in the Norton file I had to enter my Norton password. That may have cured the automatic password situation. But the copy and paste came back and I have no clue. I didn't mean to start an argument. Can we all agree to disagree without being disagreeable please? Thanks again to all for your help. There's nothing dangerous about following my advice. When I'm not sure about something I make sure to say so in the post. One thinks you have taken my comment personal which makes the thread even more poignant. I'm not saying you are wrong and in fact you could ask a well known member I was on your side for quite a while. I have no idea why you have taken offence but you seem to be carrying on this issue. The OP and everyone apart from you has laid it to bed as in 'OK no problem'. 'At risk of giving advice' and 'giving fact' are two completely different things. I may be out of turn and If I am, I truly apologise.. but I don't get your problem. Iam slightly distracted as I'm watching the sky's tonight for the British Aurora. Quote from: Allan on August 05, 2010, 03:39:13 PM I've been involved with support forums since they first appeared on the web and I assure you, when I state an opinion I can back it up. There's nothing dangerous about following my advice. When I'm not sure about something I make sure to say so in the post. I just did some research myself, seems that the 2010 version has advanced by leaps and bounds. My experience with the pre-installed version of Norton 360 on my laptop was not particularly awe-inspiring. It tried to display a "YOU MUST REGISTER THIS PRODUCT" type of dialog every time I started the PC (and, it made the window on freaking top so I couldn't do anything else, either). All Anti-Virus programs miss infections. I just cleaned my brothers PC a few hours ago that had AVG and it only found maybe a tenth of what was actually on there. malewarebytes, reboot, poof, it's clean. I was going to switch him to Avast! (he only installed AVG because he saw me using it many years ago), but he wouldn't let me. (he's one of those, "If I can use it, it's fine" type PEOPLE). ALL Anti-virus programs are resource hogs. (compared to your average app) They use CPU time every time you access a file, they use memory all the time, etc. It pretty much comes with the territory, because they have a of data to compare and sort and so forth. What makes this sort of thing sad is that the only reason there is any argument at all is simply because the OP happened to mention the AV they used. The problem is pretty much largely unrelated to the actual choice of AV to begin with, and the fact that cut/copy/paste stopped working was only slightly related. The "automatic password" thing was probably simply that they didn't enter their master password, so that was the AV/Suite working properly. I imagine that the Cut/Copy/Paste returned at some point after the update, because the module responsible for monitoring the clipboard polls it's hook status every few minutes, so a few minutes after it started it found that it's hook was no longer installed and reinstalled it, which restored the clipboard view chain. Yes, the windows clipboard is a very odd ENTITY when it comes to hooks and views and their interactions. |

Solve : help with win7 , please? |
|
Answer» is there anywhere i can go to read or see a video about win7 , because i may take it out and go back to XP its easy to use there are LOTS of videos on youtube about windows 7, though I'm not sure exactly what you want. Do you need guides on how to use it? How it compares to XP? Tips and tricks for Win7? All these kind of videos are on youtube, so just search for windows 7 and browse until you find what you need. If there is a particular thing about Win 7 you are having difficulties with, we may be able to help if you are more specific. i upgraded my pc and got win7 i'm having trouble understanding it and i may go back to xp Learning a new operating system is always fussy. I used to use XP before I used Vista, an I thought '*CENSORED* you Vista for not being easy' then I realised it was far more VALUABLE to switch to a new OS and learn the basics. Now I wonder why I ever got stressed with Vista as it is 'very easy'. I would suggest just use it and have a look around, you can't break it with what you ALREADY know. Good luck Quote from: Mulreay on August 06, 2010, 02:01:10 PM I wonder why I ever got stressed with Vista as it is 'very easy'. I agree. I went from XP to Windows 7 and I'll never go back. It seems so clunky, and well, nine years old in look and FEEL. Quote from: Salmon Trout on August 06, 2010, 02:15:21 PM I agree. I went from XP to Windows 7 and I'll never go back. Actually before I changed machines I used VMWare Converter to turn my old XP installation into a virtual machine and I now have it on my new machine as a VM. Answer» My wife's COMPUTER at her business boots up in full screen which she doesn't like. Being an XP guy and unfamiliar with Vista, how can I keep this from happening? It's a pain having to go to the tools menu and unchecking the full screen box after every boot. What do you mean exactly by "full screen"?The Address bar is hidden and has to be cursored to get it to drop down. It gets cursed every now and then too. Do you mean that when she logs in it starts a program? WINDOWS Explorer for example? Try this: get it out of full screen mode, then hold down the Ctrl key and at the same time close Internet Explorer. Ok. Follow first Salmon's Post. If nothing still changes. Try removing current browser(IE8) by going to Control Panel. After removing, just download a new IE8 and install and see what comes up then. Will do, thanks for the responses. |
