Solve : I cannot uninstall Nero 9 Trial? |
Answer» I have tried it at least 5 times. It says it was successfully uninstalled but it never disappears from the Programs and Features window. Any suggestions? Is it still on your Program menu? If so, will the program start if you click on it? Sometimes installation programs leave behind a lot of crap. Download RevoUninstaller and use it to uninstall the program.Quote from: Linux711 on April 14, 2012, 07:28:52 PM Sometimes installation programs leave behind a lot of crap. Download RevoUninstaller and use it to uninstall the program.I second that. Most uninstall apps do not remove all the application data and registry entries.Even Revo doesn't always get everything. That SAID. I only uninstall using Revo but then I take a quick second STEP and scan the software name with Everything search engine. It only takes a few seconds and more often then not it will find a few leftovers.evil, My impression (from just having tried "Everything") that it functions only the one instance of the search and to use it again it needs to be downloaded again. Is that correct? It does NOT appear in my "programs".truenorthDid you download the .exe or the .zip? The .zip is portable so will not install. The .exe will (or should) install. Mine is in C:\Program Files (x86)\EverythingDidn't note but i suspect it was an .exe as i did not have to unzip anything. Used it on an XP desktop to remove vestiges of Norton (which it seems to have done well). But now I'm on a laptop with win 7 so I'll do a search tomorrow and see if i can locate the program. However no advisory of "new programs installed" CAME up.Thanks, truenorth Hmm. I just did a new install of it and didn't see anything that would make it a tricky install. Used these options and it is in my start menu and program files. Thanks everyone for your input. It worked and I was able to remove the 14 other files in my registry that Nero seemed to dig it's claws into. But it's gone now.A little late but I found this. Might come in handy for someone in the future. Nero General CleanTool (click the Nero General CleanTool tab)Evil, Still haven't gotten to the XP computer yet but something i do notice from your last post.Whereas you left ticked the 3 DEFAULT choices i unchecked ALL of them (because i did not desire any of them). However i would not have thought that would have affected it's appearance in programs.truenorthThis is why i gave up on Nero years ago...CDBurnerXPro is a good Free replacement. |

Solve : two operating systems on one computer, xp and vista.? |
Answer» I have a desktop that had windows vista installed. I was having file upload problems so decided I Dual boot on my computer I use for work between XP Pro and Vista but I installed Vista and any programs on a different partition. I already had XP originally installed so I didn't think twice and installed Vista after. They both run smooth but I don't like Vista all that much and will probably try a third boot option with 7 or just replace Vista with 7. Don't know if any of this helps but hopefully it does. Can't see that it helps. You installed new after old which is why it worked FINE for you. But, the necessity of that approach has already been established in previous posts. |

Solve : Buy Windows 7 cdheap on Recertified PC? |
Answer» How many people know this? While new PCs are coming with MS Windows 8, Microsoft is making money selling Windows 7 to companies that refurbish, reload and certify computers taken off-lease. Get a professionally refurbished PC with Windows 7 at a great value. Here is just ONE example from a link given by MS. Toshiba 10 inch 32GB tablet $270. Same VENDOR has Dell LATITUDE D820 Notebook (Refurbished) - Intel Core Duo 2 you can buy Refurbished: $199.89 Many vendors offer warranty and payment options. So what do you think? Do you believe in recycling? Works for me. You're buying a refurbished PC with Win7 on it... The liscense is tied to the PC itself... Your Topic title suggests it's a cheap way to get Win7...mis-leading at best.Well.. you understood what it means. Surely most CH readers would also understand you can not use the Windows 7 on another PC. But a good refurbished PC may be better than the hardware they already have. The Toshiba tablet mentioned sells for twice the price when new. If you really want Windows 7, not Windows 8, the refurbished Toshiba the the economical way to buy and save the planet as well. And have the OS you want. Also, Patio, the terms of EULA require the user to comply with it as specified by MS N either the vendor or anybody can change that. The user may use the Software and hardware fully. The EULA does not prevent the user from enjoyment of his software and hardware, even if it costs less than what you might expect. Nothing in the EULA says that a low price makes the user a thief. I did not intend to use the word cheap to mean shoddy I can see you missed my point entirely...Quote from: Geek-9pm on June 07, 2013, 04:17:44 PM So what do you think? Do you believe in recycling?Sure. Why not? Windows 7 will run on many older systems. I have it running on a Pentium 4, 2.6GHz system. |

Solve : Problem with IE control? |
Answer» I am having a problem with what I think is the IE control that programs can use to display html. Whenever I open a program that uses the IE web browser control, it asks me to download whatever file it is trying to display instead of displaying it. It is getting extremely annoying because I have to cancel the download and then nothing is displayed in the frame. I can't open mmc because it uses html and a bunch of other programs. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE tell me why it is trying to download the files instead of just showing them? Is there an installation program I can use to either replace or fix anything related to the IE web browser control? The version of IE wasn't mentioned... |

Solve : Sims 3 launcher? |
Answer» I have had sims 3 for ages but something in the game stopped working so I uninstalled everything and then installed the game again. When I went to open the game using the shortcut it said it is not a valid win32 application. What do i need to do? copy the "sims3launcher.exe" file in the sims 3 folder(the one with the LAUNCHER problem)don't replace OLD file but just rename it or another option You can also fix it by entering your SimS 3 DVD in your drive and going to my computer and Exploring the icon, Open Game then BIN and copy Sims3launcher.ex_ and rename it to sims3launcher.exe and replace it the same way you did. |

Solve : Windows Media Player Won't Play? |
Answer» Hi, This may get your attention. He Geek, thank you very much for your post! I installed the Video Buzz media player, and I am back to watching DVDs on my laptop! Thanks again! You could simply use VLC media play for the laptop ( windows 8 ) i prefer to use this over Wmplayer Quote from: cinque8 on May 21, 2013, 05:43:21 PM I have a Compaq 6515B laptop running Windows Vista 32 bit version. I have a problem with my Media Player. It will play Youtube videos or other .flv videos fine, but if I try to play a DVD in my DVD player I get the following message:What version of Windows Media Player do you have? The link posted links to alternatives for WMP. The author mentions VLC is now getting attention with the Windows 8 people, but VLC works with many version of Windows. And it often works when WMP does not. And it can even repair some damaged files. And it can re-write into another format if you want. Lots of good reasons to have VLC on any Windows system. |

Solve : restoring packard bell laptop from recovery disks but 2nd disk is corrupted? |
Answer» Hi ... you can use a standard Windows disc to perform a clean install.Well, it seems he/she does not have a "standard Window disc". They said: Quote from: tercou1 on May 31, 2013, 04:39:55 AM I had started to restore my laptop to it's factory settings using the three recovery disks that I had made. Quote from: tercou1 on May 31, 2013, 04:39:55 AM I had started to restore my laptop to it's factory settings ...Why? What happened that lead to you to restoring it? What make and model is it? Thanks for the REPLIES... it is a packard bell Easynote Tj74 windows 7..... The reason I'm doing a factory setting restore is because when I turn on the laptop it would allow me to enter a password and when windows started it would just freeze/lockup and would not allow me to do anything... so i (thought) was left with no option but to try and restore it to it's factory settings... I had made the disks when I bought the laptop approx 8 months ago...Check the Manuf. site for info on a Factory Restore from the hidden restore partition... P.S. Whenever making restore CD's no matter what app is used you should always use the "verify image" tool...Quote I was not aware of the partition until it was too late but I can't use that now because the first disk has wiped everything from the HDIf that's correct, meaning the restore partition has, indeed, been erased, contact Packard Bell about getting a system disc. You may need to pay a small fee but it will be much less expensive than buying Windows at retail. This doesn't sound accurate as no restore CD is SUPPOSED to wipe the Recovery partition...only the C: partition...by messing around with different combinations of buttons I held "ALT" and pressed "F10" a number of times on START up and this allowed me to access the hidden partition so it is currently being restored Thanks to everybody for there replies...I understood that tercou1 was using recovery discs but Windows 7 discs aren't that hard to come by (especially if you are running Windows 7 Home Premium), i would ask friends or family if anyone has one, if you can get your hands on one it's a relatively easy fix.Re-read the last Post...he's solved it.Uh oh... I think you need to either use a Windows CD (Anyways, are you using Vista or 7?) (What edition?) (What service pack?), buy a new pair of disks (the disk 2 will not come corrupted, also disk 1 and disk 3 will not come corrupted.), or buy a new Windows Vista/7 laptop with either Windows Vista SP2 of your version, or Windows 7 SP1 or higher of your version (SP1 is based on how much security you need, SP2 has medium security and SP3 has high security. Vista list: SP1 has no updates, SP2 has low-medium security, and SP3 has high security.) XP/2000/ME/98/98SE/95/NT/3.11/3.1 are in other forums. 3.1, 3.11, NT, 95, 98, 98SE, ME, and 2000 have bad security against viruses. (3.1 and 3.11 have no viruses written for them).See my Post directly above yours... I've REMOVED your other inane comments after the fact. |

Solve : Does it mean the HDD needs to be replaced?? |
Answer» Hi all, DLoad and run the Free diagnostics from the HDD manuf. site...run the Long Test. 250 GB free space leftJust checking...some people fill their drives to 90% capacity and wonder why it's slow... Go ahead and run the Test then.Running a full virus and malware scan could also help you. I would recommend Avira and Malwarebytes for this job to be done.Try Malwarebytes Antimalware, SuperAntiSpyware and Spybot SEARCH and Destroy. They are good tools. 1-10 rated, where 1-3 is good, 4-6 is medium, 7-9 is bad, and 10 is severe. It is in a FORM like this: Number = STATEMENT"Rank Name"Rate All of them apply to this rule. 0 = Good"Good Computer"1 1-5 = Benign"A Tiny Risky"3 6-10 = Small Risk"A Bit Bigger Risk"4 11-20 = Medium Risk"Middle"4 20-49 = High Risk"Watch Out"7 50-100 = Severe Risk"Big Germ"9 100+ = Big Risk"Huge Germ"10 |

Solve : Cursor problems in Windows 7? |
Answer» I have a HP desktop about 2 years old with the Windows 7 operating system. All of a sudden the cursor arrow and hand have turned neon and the black line to indicate where you are typing in a white box has turned white and cannot be seen against the white background of the typing box. I have tried going into the CONTROL pannel/mouse/properties and checking defalt. I also have tried unclicking the Shadow box and the Allow thems to CHANGE arrows box. This has not HELPED. I am using the Standard Microsoft Aero Scheme. I should mention that once I statrt typing the black flashing line shows up, but it is white to show where I want to START typing. The neon arrow disappears when I cross the line into the box. Any help would be appreciated.Only time I have seen a similar issue was when a customer installed a free program to alter their mouse pointers. Has anything like this been installed or the system was fine one day and the NEXT day it was like this with no one installing anything? It seemed to be fine one day and this showed up the next. I could live with it if I have to, but it is annoying.Have you tried reverting system back to a restore point before this happened? |

Solve : BIOS problem ( I think)? |
Answer» Hi all, It has nothing to do with the bios. It is probably a bad display or a bad video adapter (or video cable or loose connection to or from the display). Nothing new, just LEFT the PC for about a week as my room was being paintedWell, if they moved the pc while the room was being painted I'd check the cables first. Then try the display on a different computer or a different display on your computer.Quote from: Allan on May 25, 2013, 04:00:48 PM Well, if they moved the pc while the room was being painted I'd check the cables first. Then try the display on a different computer or a different display on your computer. thanks Allan, the cables are Ok and as I TOLD you, the display works on another computer. what else you think it could be ?When they moved it, it may have been dropped. CPU can be out of socket. RAM could be dislodged. Motherboard has come loos. Hard Drive was damaged. A small metal, like a bottle cap, thing fell onto motherboard and shorted it. Quote from: Geek-9pm on May 25, 2013, 05:01:02 PM When they moved it, it may have been dropped. if RAM is dislodged or hard drive was damaged, at least i would have the BIOS startup screen right ?, CPU is well placed in its socket. How come motherboard can become loose .. please adviseQuote if RAM is dislodged or hard drive was damaged, at least i would have the BIOS startup screen right ? .... please adviseWho told you that? The startup screen works when about 97% of the computer is functional. Any failure of a major component stops the start up sequence. As for the hard drive, it has to gave the BIOS a message if it is not doing well. But if it is really wasted, the system stalls. A memory chip that is dislodged, but not all the way out the socket, will short the memory data and address lines, gibing the CPU nonsense code. In some case the BIOS can detect memory failure and give a message with beeps, but not on the screen. There are a long list of things that can happen if the box was dropped. The mounts for the motherboard can break loose. They are not indestructible. Inspect everything. There's no harm opening the case and making sure all cards, boards and cables are firmly seated.Quote from: Allan on May 26, 2013, 03:40:27 AM There's no harm opening the case and making sure all cards, boards and cables are firmly seated. I already did so of course . I also replaced the HD and RAM but still same resultHard Drive Diagnostics: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287 Make sure you select the tool which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive. Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD. If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), to make the CD bootable. For Toshiba drives, see here: http://sdd.toshiba.com/main.aspx?Path=ServicesSupport/FujitsuDrivesUSandCanada/SoftwareUtilities#diagnostic To check the ram, download memtest (http://memtest.org/). Burn it to a cd using a dedicated .iso burning utility (http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm), make sure the cd drive is at the top of the boot order in bios, then boot to the newly created cd and RUN the utility. And how am I supposed to do this when all I got is blank screen. BTW, I forgot to mention that the DVD drive doesnt open Quote from: Allan on May 26, 2013, 10:51:12 AM Hard Drive Diagnostics:The DVD drive needs to have poswr to open the tray. Solve : Unable to run Robocopy? |
Answer» I have a computer that is running Vista HP on its original C\: drive, that has a maintainance program that was preinstalled on my pc. I also purchased Vista Ultimate (retail version), that is installed as a dual boot. I originally ran HP for the business, running a program that used Sql Server, but it became corrupted, and was unable to be fixed, so I abandoned the drive with HP (C:\) and only use the drive with Ultimate (M:\) on it. I realize you cannot simply copy a program from one drive to another, because it will not result in an installed program. I am hoping that Robocopy will be my answer. You cannot simply copy a program from one drive to another, and, in general, you can't Robocopy a program either. Robocopy is just a smarter front end to the Windows file copying functionality. |

Solve : Blue Screen Issues? |
Answer» So for a while now I've been having some issues with my computer crashing quite frequently. It only seems to do this when I'm using a web browser or a media player. I've also NOTICED that after restarting the computer the memok light flashes red briefly. I really have no idea what the issue is so even just pointing me in the right direction would be helpful. If there's any information you need just post and I'll try my best to answer. Have you RUN memtest86 on this system? The quick red flash and back to green is probably part of the initialization/test sequence in which for a narrow timeframe the system is testing the memory and it shows red until approved as OK, but it couldnt hurt to run a MEMTEST for 5 or 6 complete loops of testing to rule this out as the cause. |

Solve : Minimum/maximum processor state keeps setting itself to 100%? |
Answer» On my laptop I noticed it'd get pretty hot when gaming and I'd start to get stuttering or freezing in games so I changed it so my maximum processor state would be 90% instead of 100% so that I could REDUCE my laptop heat. That worked, but often my computer resets the minimum and maximum processor states to 100% randomly and then I have to go in and manually make them 0/90 or 5/90. I don't have ati catalyst center which I HEARD causes this sometimes. What else could be causing the reset?Do you have any "energy saving" software installed? PROGRAMS like Gigabyte's Dynamic Energy Saver (DES) are known to cause this as the settings in that conflict with those SET in Windows. I don't KNOW what laptop you have but some come with similar software installed, so that would be my first port of call. |

Solve : "This program cannot display the webpage"? |
Answer» Hi, when I try ctrl-alt-delete, I don't have the task manager listed. This is USUALLY indicative of Malware or Virus present that is trying to keep you out of the Task Manager Feature. If you are able to get to the start run and type taskmgr, then enter to run this command and it still does not come up, your looking at having to disinfect. If you answer this as the problem, this can be redirected to Malware/Virus forum by a moderator.I can't get to the Start buttonOK...I tried starting from Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and typed in tskmgr, and was told it was has been disabled by the administrator |

Solve : Black screen at login? |
Answer» I had the same problem...I cleaned the registry using ccleaner and Iobit advances systemcare 5(this did the most I think) and it was fixed, the black screen probably comes from a file that went missing and your computer is searching for it during the black screen, try cleaning the registry with the 2 programs I suggested.verystrengt - I deleted all start up programs except Avast which I leftIf you keep a recent Avast installer in your hard drive, try removing the software using an avast uninstaller/remover or by ADD or remove program. Reinstall Avast if no changes were made.Try also updating/reinstalling VIDEO driver or lowering resolution a notch and reboot to check on the difference. If you want to continue troubleshooting, please boot to safe mode and see if the problem exists there or if it is a normal boot.Allan - jason2074 - Thank you both for suggestions. I will try them but since it is a random problem I don't think it will do much good to persue it farther. If it gets worse or happens every time I login, then I will ask for help again. BobIt sounds to me there may be some registry corruption. it also seems that it may be limited to your one user account. try creating a new user account from control panel, restart your computer and login to the new account. see if that helps. if it does try deleting the affected account after backing up what you need.Gray1989 - It appears that you are right about the way to solve my problem. I'm not too sure what I did but I set up another account and so far there is no black page. However, because the black screen occurs randomly I will use the new account for a day or two and let you KNOW the results. The new account is using Internet explorer 8. I have been using Internet Explorer 7. I would prefer using IE 7 because I have written each and every step to use the web pages I have. This is so my wife can use the computer. She is not very good with a computer but she can follow directions. Is it possible to delete IE 8 and go back to IE 7? Thanks for your help. More later. BobGray1989 - As I said , setting up another account got rid of the black screen. I deleted the other account as I did not have a use for it and when I did the black screen came back. I sat up an extra account again and the black screen has not appeared since. I don't have any idea why it works this way but if it isn't broke don't fix it. Thanks for your help. BobQuote from: Bobh on April 02, 2012, 05:09:10 AM Allan -I know you probably don't need any help anymore but the programs I suggested were free, just saying.Quote from: verystrengt on May 15, 2013, 02:22:23 PM I know you probably don't need any help anymore but the programs I suggested were free, just saying. There are HUNDREDS of registry cleaning 'programs' out there, it does not mean they do any good. |

Solve : Ethernet adapter not recognizing cable? |
Answer» I have had a Ethernet CABLE running directly from my Motorola SBG6580 router/modem combo for a few months. Yesterday, my computer would not recognize that the Ethernet cable was plugged in. I did various research and tried a few things. I switched out Ethernet cords, tried multiple spots on the modem, updated the BIOS for my motherboard, took the battery out of the motherboard and reset the BIOS that way, I uninstalled the network adapter, then rebooted the computer and re installed it. I tried to plug an ethernet cord into another device, but it too went unrecognized, leading me to believe it the the modem. I factory reset the modem and the problem persists. I really don't know where else to take this. If this router/modem is leased, you can get a replacement through your ISP. If you own it, you will have to buy a new one. I lost a router in a similar way, but it wasnt a router/modem combo. I had a Netgear that died in which none of the devices connected to it would uplink even after reset of power as well as reset of the router back to factory. The one thing I did notice though is that the LEDs were not as bright as they use to be, and the router was very warm to the touch. In addition to this, the power adapter for the router was also warmer than it should have been. I replaced it and problem solved! The good thing though is that I had a spare router on hand to switch back to the 10 year old Linksys which didnt have wireless and still had settings for Vonage and port forwarding etc, so I was able to just set this up for a week until I could get my replacement for $20, a D-Link wireless router from NEWEGG. I placed my 10 year old Linksys back in the box in the CLOSET in case I need to use it as an emergency router ever again. We had a bad power outage prior to mine dying. I had it accidentally plugged into unprotected power. We had the lights go dim, then bright and then out and then back on for a second and out and it did that about 2 times and then finally out for 30 minutes of no power. When power came back on, the router didnt make it through the abuse without power protection. Everything else powered through power strips with surge protection and battery backups were fine. This was plugged into an older power strip that didnt have surge protection that my lamp was also plugged into and of which the florescent bulbs ballast was blown. Threw away that power strip and paid $7 for one with surge protection! Have you had bad weather lightning etc or power outage etc that might be linked to this problem? How many Ethernet ports does the modem nave? The port may have been damaged by something you did not do. For example, you did not use a grounded electrical cord or outlet. If so, it is permanent damage that can not be fixed in software. Before you buy another modem, check the electrical wiring. In a few cases a user will use a two prong electrical cord. or two wire outlet. Most modems and computers require three wire electrical pugs. Failure to use grounded equipment with Ethernet can damage ports. I am not making that up as I go. It is well documented and is in the beginner's course on Ethernet equipment. Not just USA, also in Europe. http://www.datapro.net/products/computer-power-cord-europe.html Failure to have a good ground can damage electronic equipment. The problem is more widespread that many users would suspect. Notice these comments. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r26596653-Ungrounded-PC But your modem may have been damaged by something else, e a power surge. Like what was mentioned in the post above. Quote Before you buy another modem, check the electrical wiring. In a few cases a user will use a two prong electrical cord. or two wire outlet. Most modems and computers require three wire electrical pugs. Failure to use grounded equipment with Ethernet can damage ports. *Most inexpensive home use Routers/Modems/Switches etc, have no ground wire leading up to the device. The ground is internal to the power supply that feeds the DC or AC via 2 wires to the device at the other end. Its not until you look at the high end rack mount switches, routers, etc that you will find the common 3 prong grounded computer power plug with internal power supplies contained within the devices. Most household network hardware is not grounded by design when powered off of an external power supply. However, Netgear does supply a ground rung to the outside of the metal bodied switches for the 5 and 8 ports. The ones that come in a plastic clam shell body are meant to be non-grounded throw aways! While if you spend a little more for one of the metal bodied Netgears you can ground them, although they dont supply any wire to do it with and most people dont ground them unless its in an industrial environment etc. I have used them for YEARS ungrounded without problems for small business and home networks. And they are protected behind battery backups etc from surge, with exception to the router oops I had.. LOL *Its always best to have everything on the same potential. Back when I use to work on Industrial Automation PLC's etc for Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, you needed the machinery to be grounded together, otherwise if the ground was missing the shield that was used on the DB9 serial cables would become the grounded link between the equipment and the outer body of the DB9's would get pitted and eaten away in addition to other problems when the difference became great enough between two machines to arc and blow ports out frying the Max232 RS232 UART chips etc.Quote Most inexpensive home use Routers/Modems/Switches etc, have no ground wire leading up to the device. Not even an issue o cost. I have a nice Net gear router with no ground. But my stock AT&T router has a ground. I live in Florida and all of my equipment is plugged into a surge protector. Besides we haven't had any storms/power failures in the last week, well before the problems occurred. The router has four network ports, all are lit, but the device is hot to the touch. I have had good luck with Motorola Surfboards in the past, so I bought this one myself; it is not leased from my ISP. You have to setup the connestion for the wired to be recognised.Well, after calling customer support Motorola, they advised that the problem is probably with the chipset for the Ethernet ports, and that i'm on my own. Can anyone recommend another brand modem/router combo? I've been really happy with what I have and am very disappointing by this product. A network adapter is cheaper than a new modem. Windows has limited ability to diagnose hardware issues. Standford textbooks recommend substitution rather that software to identify hardware failures. Of course, paraprofessional IT people have some gadgets that will pinpoint a problem. But one even a simple one costs way more than a new network interface controller (NIC). Have you tried another NIC?Quote I tried to plug an ethernet cord into another device, but it too went unrecognized, leading me to believe it the the modem. I factory reset the modem and the problem persists. I really don't know where else to take this. Regarding their statement above of 2 devices having the same issue. That is why I dont believe it to be a bad NIC in the PC. One suggestion to try which would work is if you have a friend locally who can bring their modem/router to your home. Connect theirs in place of your own, and see if you get connectivity back. Low cost ( only the cost of gas ) test solution that would work to troubleshoot. *Make sure they bring their own external power supply to pair up with the modem/router as well so its all known good hardware. The MAC address for the modem registered with the ISP would initialize and grab an IP from ISP their(your friends) paid active acct from your location and if its your modem/router combo you would know right off if this is the problem or not. Assuming this is Cable Broadband. Other devices that can be used to test a NIC other than Modem or Router are: an old Cat5 (RJ45) HUB, an old or new Cat5 (RJ45) SWITCH, a RJ45 LOOPBACK plug to loop back the TX/RX on itself, or if you have a CROSS-OVER CABLE and 2 computers or Cat5 (RJ45) devices both powered up by which to plug this cross over cable with 2 live devices together with and look for uplink LED lit.Quote from: Serious_Sack on May 14, 2013, 07:07:52 PM ...Motorola SBG6580 router/modem combo...http://www.motorola.com/us/consumers/SBG6580-SURFboard%C2%AE-eXtreme-Wireless-Cable-Modem/70902,en_US,pd.html Is the ethernet light on the modem lit? |

Solve : Unable to Initiate System Restore Feature after Factory Restore? |
Answer» One of the primary reasons I had for performing a factory restore on a friend's Lenovo E5800 dual core, Win 7 HP desktop PC, is that the system restore function was broken, and apparently has been since the machine was purchased 2 or 3 years ago. After completing the factory reset, one of the first things I checked was system restore. Apparently, I found, SOMETHING happened during the initial factory SETUP which makes it IMPOSSIBLE for this feature to work. |

Solve : AOL shortcut icon not working? |
Answer» My AOL shortcut icon SPINS for about 30 seconds and stops but AOL never loads.Same with start menu and taskbar shortcuts. Tried REINSTALLING AOL and when install is complete AOL STARTS up and says welcome then disappears. GET small box in corner saying AOL has encountered a problem and will now try to reconnect. Tries for about a minute and then nothing. Any ideas what's wrong here?Try re-setting your router/modem by powering them down for 30 seconds...power up and wait at least 2 minutes to try your connection. Thanks but tried that. My internet access(for other apps) works fine. It's the AOL software that won't load or stay loaded. |

Solve : BSOD/Freezing HALACPI.DLL? |
Answer» I have a problem with my HP Pavillion a6250 t, I recently upgraded my RAM and it was working fine for a while but then it started getting blue screens and freezes during certain processes. I downloaded blue screen view and all of them were due to the halacpi.dll (Hardware abstraction) and I checked the RAM to see if it was installed incorrectly; it was not. As a test I PUT my old RAM back in to see if it was indeed the RAM but the same ISSUE occured, so I put the new RAM back in. So I thought it had to be software related, however I hadn't installed any new software. I ran Norton 360/Norton one, CCLEANER, Malwarebytes, and avast! and none of them found any viruses. So I thought it would have to be the drivers. So I tried to UPDATE the drivers using Driver max/ Slim drivers, however both cause my computer to freeze and crash. I tryed running them in Safe Mode but it would not allow me to update them in safe mode. |
