Solve : Please help me alter this script? |
|
Answer» I need help in altering this script. This unzips a compressed folder and extracts the files to a DIFFERENT folder. What I need is for it to automatically overwrite any files already in that folder. Note In some cases, such as compressed (.zip) files, some option flags may be ignored by design. A suggested workaround (I have not tried it) is to extract the files to a temporary folder and then copy them to the actual destination Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") 'create temporary folder with random name Randomize tempFolder = fso.BuildPath(fso.GetSpecialFolder(2), Fix(RND * 100000)) fso.CreateFolder tempFolder strZipFile = "Location.zip" 'name of zip file outFolder = "Location output folder" 'destination folder of unzipped files Set objShell = CreateObject( "Shell.Application" ) Set objSource = objShell.NameSpace(strZipFile).Items Set objTarget = objShell.NameSpace(tempFolder) objTarget.CopyHere objSource fso.CopyFolder tempFolder, outFolder, True fso.DeleteFolder tempFolder, True 'delete temporary folder Quote from: Salmon Trout on April 11, 2013, 12:20:55 PM A suggested workaround (I have not tried it) I have now tested this script on Windows 7 and XP Refer to PREVIOUS posts for option flags 'name of zip file strZipFile = "C:\Test\Test.zip" 'destination folder of unzipped files outFolder = "C:\Testfolder" Set objShell = CreateObject( "Shell.Application" ) Set objTarget = objShell.NameSpace(outFolder) Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") 'create folder with random name in system temp folder tname = fso.GetTempName() tempFolder = fso.BuildPath(fso.GetSpecialFolder(2), tname) fso.CreateFolder tempFolder Set objSource = objShell.NameSpace(strZipFile).Items Set objTemp = objShell.NameSpace(tempFolder) 'extract zip contents to temp folder intOptions = 256+16 objTemp.CopyHere objSource, intOptions set objsource = objShell.NameSpace(tempFolder).items 'copy from temp folder to target folder intOptions = 256+16 objTarget.CopyHere objSource, intOptions 'delete temp folder and its contents fso.DeleteFolder tempFolder, True 'delete temporary folder Quote from: JOhnathan.Pierce on April 11, 2013, 06:08:58 AM intOptions = intOptions = 4 + 16 + 1024 Just noticed this in your code that you posted. Solve : My Acer aspire netbook Hard drive crashed, but...? |
|
Answer» My internal Hard-drive wont read in my acer aspire netbook "no bootable disk", but when I used a imposure and connected it to a Mac, it read it, But when I connected to a another windows PC its seems to act wierd or not read at all. Is it corrupt and can I fix it on a Mac that read it?When you boot the computer, the Acer SPLASH screen should come up for a few seconds. but when I used a imposure and connected it to a Mac, it read it, This sticks out like a thumb...did you use and file conversion apps on the drive trying to get the data ? ?Quote from: patio on April 08, 2013, 06:58:30 PM This sticks out like a thumb...did you use and file conversion apps on the drive trying to get the data ? ? Quote from: patio on April 08, 2013, 06:58:30 PM This sticks out like a thumb...did you use and file conversion apps on the drive trying to get the data ? ?No, I just plugged it in a Mac at school and it loaded. Thats how I backed up my data off it. Its just corrupted on a Windows.Any help?Quote from: B.B.Link on April 08, 2013, 03:42:18 PM OK, I went into the BIOS menu, but I don't see my hard drive information under IDE0. Again, with the enclosure (I forgot to say that properly the first time) I can read it off a Mac, but not on windows. If Acer laptop cannot see hard drive in BIOS, either hard drive is bad or something is wrong with Acer motherboard. Even if hard drive is new with nothing on it, BIOS will see it. If it didn't, you would never be able to install Windows. I think you need to try a different hard drive in the Acer, but I suspect a problem with the laptop hardware. Also since you were able to have the drive SEEN on another PC i would burn any important data to DVD/CD's and then DLoad and run the Free diagnostics from the drive manuf. site... Run the Long test just to be sure. |

Solve : not getting all pages of web sites? |
|
Answer» can not access next pages of certain web sites-example-recipes sites. P.S.Can give some details on what you deleted? Do you periodically delete browser history?Yes, I do delete browsing history about once a week. In the Internet Options box-under programs-it says Internet Explorer is my default web browser and the box is checked that says :tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser. As for what I have deleted, well, I think one thing that I can remember that might be important is some kind of "cache?" I probably messed something up. Please get back to me and help me fix this. I only delete the browsing history, not any cookies or passwords or the other things in that box. Thank-you for your help! Are you using Windows XP? Is your Internet Explorer version 6 or version 7? To tell, go to Internet Explorer's Help and choose About Internet Explorer. I suggest you go a little further with cleaning IE history. Include Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History. I know deleting cookies may cause some temporary inconvenience when visiting certain sites but I believe you need to do that in this case, for troubleshooting purposes. If this doesn't work, we'll look at some other things.using Windows Vista-how do I get to Internet Explorers Help? Type in ADDRESS bar? How? Deleted cookies and Temps already. Thank-you-let me know how to get to Internet Ex help-o.k.?Since you're using Windows Vista, you have IE 7. Apparently, you do not have the Menu Bar SHOWING on IE; that's why you don't see Help. To display the Menu Bar, right click on a empty area of the toolbar area at the top of IE and select/check Menu Bar. So, you've deleted cookies and no change, right? Let's try this. Download, install, and run CCleaner. Go to http://www.ccleaner.com/download, select Other Builds at bottom of that page, and then select Slim version. Once installed, launch CCleaner and click the Cleaner button at left. Select the Windows tab and check all boxes under Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer, and System; for now, I think you can leave the items under Advanced unchecked. Click the Analyze button at bottom; when that's finished, click the Run Cleaner button at bottom. Next, click the Registry button in the left pane of the CCleaner window; click Scan for Issues button at bottom. When the scan is finished, click the Fix selected issues button at bottom, right side. When prompted to backup the registry before executing any fixes, do the backup, then have CCleaner fix all items. I find it ironic that deleting cookies won't let you get to a baking site.... Sorry Donna...just trying to lighten things up. Keep following soybean's advice and we'll get you there.Quote I find it ironic that deleting cookies won't let you get to a baking site....Maybe, it's cookies revenge.... I apologize, I couldn't resist Soybean It's me again. Is there anything other than the CCleaner to try? I'm broker so I can not download. Can you think of anything else? Thank-you again!Quote from: Donna on December 05, 2008, 08:33:49 AM I'm broker so I can not download.... broker? Are you saying this is an office/business computer and you have restrictions on what you can do with it?No, I am BROKE! Personal computer. CCleaner wants money. No can do. Any more things I can try?CCleaner asks for donations but that's voluntary. You can ignore the PayPal buttons on their site for making a donation and download without making a donation. The link I posted for you says, "Although this SOFTWARE is free please donate to help support the software and site costs." Again, no donation is required. |

Solve : hp desktop 1GB RAM Windows Vista? |
|
Answer» can anyone please walk me through the steps to replace windows vista with windows xp, and retain all my data For some reason, lately the computer has been acting real slow to open programs or explorer windows, and seems to give me the 'Program not responding' message every so often. If I do see the 'Not responding' message, how do I END the application or t ask (CTRL-ALT-DEL doesnt do anything), because once the 'Not responding' message shows up, the computer stops responding to keyboard input while the mouse still works. You have Vista and 1 GB of RAM. That's reason enough. Running Vista with less than 2 GB of RAM is the number one cause of computer cancer. Three options here: 1) Get more RAM. Benefits: +: No need to go through the HASSLE of formatting (although backing up your data is always a good idea, regardless). +: It's usually a 5 minute fix if you know how to do it. Drawbacks: -: Costs money. -: Possibility of buying the wrong RAM if you don't do your homework (http://www.crucial.com makes this easy 99% of the time). 2) Use a USB flash drive as READYBOOST. Benefits: +: QUICK fix if you have a flash drive with nothing on it. Drawbacks: -: 1 GB + Readyboost is faster than 1 GB alone, but still a lot slower than having 2 GB of RAM or more with Vista -: It's a band-aid solution--like boarding up a broken window instead of getting a new one. 3) Downgrade to XP. Benefits: +: XP runs just fine on 1 GB of RAM. Drawbacks: -: There is no "in-place downgrade" from Vista to XP. You will have to back up your data, format, and install XP. -: You'll have to find XP drivers for all your stuff. Your computer probably only came with Vista drivers. -: You'll also have to get a Windows XP installation disc and product key. You'll have to contact Microsoft or the manufacturer of your PC for information on getting an XP disc and key to exercise downgrade rights. Honestly, I would recommend #1 to you. RAM is extremely cheap these days. Quote from: shashgo on December 21, 2008, 01:55:35 PM can anyone please walk me through the steps to replace windows vista with windows xp, and retain all my data Yes. The first step though would be to visit the manuf. site and DLoad and collect XP drivers for all your devices...this is important so i'll leave it here until you have all drivers. |

Solve : Desktop, graphics resolution, ect. returns to default everytime I restart my PC?? |
|
Answer» I like to group my icons by type of program, like all the security stuff in 1 column and media stuff in another ect. And I like my graphics resolution at 1680 x 1050. But everytime I restart my computer from shutdown it starts in 1024 x 768 resolution and my icons are re-arranged like shown in this link: I'd just reinstall the monitor drivers or create a new account and wipe the old oneI don't know, but I would have to disagree there too until I find a solution via not having to create a new account?... yet... My monitors are working fine, and my graphics card drivers are up to date according to a search for a driver update, although the driver it says is up to date is an issue date of 2006? Seems like Nvidia would have a driver more current than that. I don't know... Quote from: patio on December 18, 2008, 12:55:23 PM Has this card always changed the set resolution upon re-boot ? ?The card has never done this before. I only tried to update the driver from Nvidia's web site but as I said in the previous post, the newest driver is 2006. I'll try reinstalling the original driver from the OEM disc and let you know shorthly. Thanks patio!!!Something has changed then for it to not hold settings...jiggle those memory cells as well and see if you can pin down any new programs installed since it started doing this.Quote Thanks for the response, although I disagree about the "You're not getting any response because no one has a clue, most likely. " part. I've received enough help on this site to know a clue exist here. Ok, so you're not getting any response on this particular subject because no one wants to help you? Whatever floats your boat! Quote , but I would have to disagree there too until I find a solution via not having to create a new account? You're in a rather disagreeing chapter of your life aren't you, eh? Having the latest drivers is not the same as having PROPERLY installed drivers. If they say they were issued in 2006, you should probably get new ones. Get them from Nvidia.com, not anywhere else. I wouldn't bother using drivers from the disc either because those are bound to be outdated. Lectrocrew, there is nothing at all wrong with your system or your components. That is just a teensy little desktop tweak. Oh, boy. There are a few, and they are a bit different for Vista and XP. But you are basically simply LOSING your desktop icon settings back to their default position. It might be a RIGHT-click on the desktop and then Personalize, somewhere. Or you might go to Kelly's Korner for a script to reset it. I'll post this now so you'll get it faster than I can research it out for you. I've done it lots of times. I can absolutely ASSURE you that one single keystroke is causing your worries. It is a totally "nothing" problem—er, once you know where the dickens that little setting is. [Edit] My guess is the resolution shift is causing the icons to default their position, by the way. Quote I've done it lots of times. I can absolutely assure you that one single keystroke is causing your worries. It is a totally "nothing" problem—er, once you know where the dickens that little setting is. Well you would be wrong on this because when resolution changes no settings can be RETAINED.@Patio, I'm afraid that you may be right that I may be wrong. But look. There are two problems—"everytime I restart my computer from shutdown it starts in 1024 x 768 resolution and my icons are re-arranged"—and I think the icon jump to default is a result of the monitor resolution change. I think it may well have to do with Vista. I think Vista is your "something that has changed". @Lectrocrew, no doubt you have experimented with each of your monitors, one at a time, to see whether the problem is in Vista's acceptance of your multi-monitor setup. (I use the same 1680 x 1050 myself, but I have just one monitor.) I had a nice liitle app called Desklay that would retain icon positions no matter what... The Author though and the app both seem to have gone misssing...I've been running Vista now for a couple of months and this problem is only recent, but it seems that it has gone away during the last 10 or so restarts / start up's. I don't know what I did, but it's booting fine. Both problems (icons moving and resolution change) went away at the same time, so the problem seems to have included both. I did re-install the driver from the OEM Nvidia disk and also downloaded the current driver from the Nvidia wesite, but this problem didn't get corrected till a few restarts afterward? Go figure... I guess I don't need any more help on this issue but I'll re-post to this same thread if this issue comes up again. Thanks for everyone's input and happy holidays to all of you! MikeHave a good Christmas. |

Answer» HELP!!! I have a Dell Inspiron 1526 that runs on Vista that will not power down. It has a bluish screen only, but will not respond to anything- even closing the screen. thanks, I'll give that a try. I don't have my manual with me at work but it can't be too hard, right? Where's IT when you need 'm, eh? You might want to try pressing the power BUTTON for several seconds first. If that doesn't work - I'd first disconnect the battery and then the power cord (from the wall socket)Thanks for responding. I tried touching the power button lightly, holding it down for several seconds, everything but punching it with a pen! Anyway, I did take the battery out and that seemed to do the trick. I HOPE that doesn't mean that my battery is losing power.Quote I hope that doesn't mean that my battery is losing power. I am not entirely sure what you mean by that. Solve : PC Runs slow? |

Answer» Hello, i recently bought a new pc, 3.2ghz celeron D, 2gb ddr2, 120gb hdd. Its running slower than my old pc,takes ages to boot and it also only scores 274 on performance test which is lower than my last. i have all the latest drivers inc chipset and stuff, no viruses or spyware, computer is totally clean and problem free(bios updated), i dont understand it at all, i'm and experienced computer user, its wrecking my brain. also now when i try to burn dvds it stops at 24% with nero, i've tried using other burning progs with the same result, firmware is updated, its not dma setting either. HELPDiagnose RAM and HDD. Look at the TASK manager screens and decided which programs are using all of the CPU. Tried all them, one says diagnose ram and hdd? whats best prog to do this? anyone know about my dvd burner in the thread? GOOGLE for Windows Memory Diagnostics. You can obtain diagnostic software for the hard drive at the manufacturer's page. http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/slowcom.htm what anti virus program do you have? SPIDER http://www.intel.com/products/processor/celeron_D/index.htm Celeron bites! Cache (pronounced cash) memory is extremely fast memory that is built into a computer’s central processing unit (CPU), or located next to it on a separate chip. The CPU uses cache memory to store instructions that are repeatedly required to run programs, improving overall system speed. The advantage of cache memory is that the CPU does not have to use the motherboard’s system bus for data transfer. Whenever data must be passed through the system bus, the data transfer speed slows to the motherboard’s capability. The CPU can process data much faster by avoiding the bottleneck created by the system bus. As it happens, once most programs are open and running, they use very few resources. When these resources are kept in cache, programs can operate more quickly and efficiently. All else being equal, cache is so effective in system performance that a computer running a fast CPU with little cache can have lower benchmarks than a system running a somewhat slower CPU with more cache. Cache built into the CPU itself is referred to as Level 1 (L1) cache. Cache that resides on a separate chip next to the CPU is called Level 2 (L2) cache. Some CPUs have both L1 and L2 cache built-in and designate the separate cache chip as Level 3 (L3) cache. Cache that is built into the CPU is faster than separate cache, running at the speed of the MICROPROCESSOR itself. However, separate cache is still roughly twice as fast as Random Access Memory (RAM). Cache is more expensive than RAM, but it is well worth getting a CPU and motherboard with built-in cache in order to maximize system spider for memory test try "memtest" this is what i am using. for your hdd you may try chkdsk /f I'm using avg, i'll try decrapifier, mem diag says ok, will try hdd diag next. or am i expecting to much from a poo computer. even still i would expect it to run better with 2gb ddr2.Quote Celeron bites! Not for checking E-mail and browsing the web. Celeron still bites! Spider emmabri, did you GO to that link i sent you?Is it Vista, or XP? Still under warranty? That's not an exact message that you would get during the process. What happened when you made the Windows RE disc? What happened when you started the computer with it? Again, EXACT error and warning messages, please. Next time, anything LESS than an exact message, and I will no longer concern myself with the issue you are having. If you solve the problem, great! If not, it'll no longer be of concern to be. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I don't appreciate it when people make my life harder when I try to make their LIVES easier. It's give and take. Give me information, and I will try and help you. You don't want to do that? I won't help you, then.Don't feel so bad killerb...i've had none of my questions answered... |

Solve : Vista data corruption Help? |
|
Answer» Okay, so I have an external harddrive (1tb) which has about 300 gigs of media on it. I was running TuneUp Utilities 2009 and one of the things it suggested was running disk scans of all the hard drives. I restarted the computer as instructed, and when it rebooted it started a disk scan of G: (the external HDD) as expected. It got to about 7%. Be VERY VERY carefull, running third party programs on your hard drives and/or registry. Sorry, should clarify, it was the computer scanning, not a 3rd party program. the 3rd party program told the computer to reboot and run the scan. The scan happened once it rebooted and before it started up Vista.Quote Sorry, should clarify, it was the computer scanning, not a 3rd party program. the 3rd party program told the computer to reboot and run the scan. The scan happened once it rebooted and before it started up Vista.Sounds like a contradiction to me. You have a third party utility installed and it's what prompted the restarting to run an scan. Are you saying TuneUp Utilities 2009 started a standard Microsoft scan, i.e. CHKDSK, rather some scan of it's own? How do you know that?Quote from: soybean on December 25, 2008, 05:14:42 PM QuoteSorry, should clarify, it was the computer scanning, not a 3rd party program. the 3rd party program told the computer to reboot and run the scan. But, as far as I can/could tell, that was the case. The scan was running before Vista was booted up, so I don't see how the 3rd party program could be running it. (yeah, pretty sure what it started up was CHKDSK) Hope that helps.what a sec, is that PART of an ativirus called antivius 2009? |

Solve : Dead Vista? |
|
Answer» I have a Gateway Laptop (model MT 6641) with a Gateway INSTALLED Vista home premium 32-bit operating system. When I try to start up I am told to repair a problem. When I hit enter, eventually I end up with a black screen and a cursor. Gateway gave me the link to a utility to test the hard driveIt should create bootable CD. It'll run even with bad hard drive (if that's the case).Quote from: Broni on February 21, 2009, 10:00:13 PM "Unmountable_boot_volume" error usually means bad hard drive. Thanks for the help so far. If I replace the hard drive, will that fix the problem? Also, if I replace the hard drive will I be able to use the Windows Home Vista CD to reinstall a new operating system? Will I NEED other drivers? I am at a novice at this. Thanks for the help. Note the word "usually". Your best bet is to test hard drive to see, if it's really dead. If it's not, we can try some other steps to solve your problems, before we go for a new drive. As for reinstallation, most likely, you have TWO options: - use Gateway recovery partition, or recovery DVDs to restore the computer to its original state (in this case all drivers will be in place, along with all Gateway pre-installed crap) - use Vista DVD to perform clean install (in this case, all Gateway pre-installed crap won't be there, but you MAY need some drivers) In both cases, all your data will be gone.Quote from: Broni on February 23, 2009, 02:46:58 PM Note the word "usually". Thanks again, Broni. I found a shop where they will diagnose and give me an estimate on repairs for no charge. Thanks for all the help. Post the prices, because I assure you, you can do a lot of things by yourself.OK. As soon as I get the estimate I will get back with you. Thanks. Cool I got lucky. Though the PC wouldn't boot up when the tech first looked at it, after he took out the hard drive and ran tests on it -finding nothing wrong with it - he put it back in the notebook and the computer booted up!!! He said something might have been loose inside . Anyway, no charge! And my notebook seems fine again. Thanks for all your help. You're a prince of man. Thanks for posting back, and I must admit, I totally forgot, we're dealing with laptop here, and thus I forgot about very simple thing....exactly what your technician did.Which gives me a sudden flashback to Reply #2 in this thread... |

Solve : Blue screen of death help.? |
|
Answer» Ok so last night, I left my gateway laptop on to defrag it. Woke up this morning, opened it up..it was at the login screen, so I thought ok let me TYPE in my password. As soon as I hit a key, it went BLUE screen of death on me (for the first time, fairly new laptop). It just had the error messags as usual and said to restart the computer if that was the first time it had happened. Now, when I try to turn on the laptop, it turns on, FAN keeps going doesn't stop, and nothing ever displays on the screen. So you don't even see the POST info at bootup ? ?No beeps...just the fan. No post info because I SAID THE SCREEN PRETTY MUCH DOESN'T COME ON. No I can't get into setup. Not XP, vista, and i inserted...it made some noise like it was reading it but it still will not display on the screen. No need to shout...the screen not coming on doesn't always rule out the setup info being seen which would eliminate a few things... Is this machine still under warranty ? ? If so i would be excising it...Quote from: patio on December 26, 2008, 02:04:39 PM No need to shout...the screen not coming on doesn't always rule out the setup info being seen which would eliminate a few things...Lets just say its one of those computers that you buy from HSN, and my parents have had recent money shortage making it a lower priority to be paid for.I believe they still have to honor the Warranty...Quote from: patio on December 26, 2008, 02:14:07 PM I believe they still have to honor the Warranty...If it only had a warranty. Updates: Tried booting without RAM, booting without the hard disk, and swapping around the RAM. Screen will still not display anything, but the laptop DOES turn on. |

StopService('libusb0'); DeleteService('libusb0'); StopService('libusbd'); DeleteService('libusbd'); BC_DeleteFile('C:\Windows\system32\libusbd-nt.exe'); BC_DeleteFile('C:\Windows\system32\drivers\libusb0.sys'); end.
Ran it as administrator. Nothing changes.AVZ stops working, or what? Any error message?AVZ worked with the second codebox. It said it worked anyway. After restarting, the installer still tells me the same message that an old version must be uninstalled first when i try to use it. I reran avz as an administrator, and it succeeded again. I restarted and tried running the installer as an administrator again, but got the same message. Edit-By installer I mean the libusb installer.Give me fresh AVZ log (reply #23). P. S. I'm close to going to bed, but I'll be around tomorrow. Here you go. [attachment deleted by admin]Nothing was removed, so.... Go Start, in "Start search", type in: cmd Hold CTRL+SHIFT, and hit Enter At command prompt, type in: sc stop libusbd Hit Enter. Wait for the service to be stopped. Go Tools>Folder Options>View tab, put a checkmark next to Show hidden files, and folders. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32, and delete libusbd-nt.exe file. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\drivers, and delete libusb0.sys file. Restart in Normal Mode.I type in what you say at the command prompt and it says access is denied.Did you: Hold CTRL+SHIFT, and hit Enter It's important. This WAY you run cmd as administrator. |

Solve : Putting computer to sleep? |
|
Answer» I know many ppl dont LIKE putting their PC's to sleep, but i KINDA prefer it. I had this problem before with another PC and it eventually just went away. But, problem is that my mom's PC, (Dell Vostro 200, Vista 32bit), wont go to sleep when i hit the sleep feature in the startup menu. The monitor turns off, but that's it. I think the problem may be the wireless router that is hooked up to the PC. My PC would never sleep when I first hooked up my wireless router to it. But for some REASON, it just started working like it should. I have it set to sleep after an hour or so, and it has never gone to sleep yet. (since i hooked up the router). I didnt know whether to post this here or hardware, but I think its a Windows issue so... |

Solve : New on the forum...Question for you folks...? |
|
Answer» Hey guys. I'm PETER, new on the forum. I got a question. I am using Windows Vista 64-Bit on my brand new HP DV5-1174CA laptop. The other day, I was looking at my free space on my hard drives. On my C Drive, I have 255GB free out of 287GB and D Drive is empty with 10.4Gb free (Note: D Drive is recovery disk). I decided to RUN the Windows Defragmenter and it was taking forever so I closed it half way. I checked the next day and my hard drive free space greatly decreased. My D Drive has only 197Gb free out of 287 Gb and my D Drive has only 1.4 Gb of free space. I ran the Defragmenter on Windows and waited till it finished and I also ran the Diskeeper Pro Premier and though my speed went up, my hard drive space still remain the same. What happened and how do I regain my disk space? Thanks for all help.Did the de-fragmentation program indicate that it should be use? So did you go ahead and use it when you were told it was not needed? The vista I used was experiencing some "slowness" and I ran a disk defragmenter to speed things upDLoad; install and run Auslogics disk defrag...FREE and runs on Vista X64... |

Solve : Windows Vista - active x problem? |

It shows in the control panel that we have active x installed but we keep getting the POP up box SAYING to install and some pictures on some sites we can't view. Why is that and how can we somehow activate what we already have?ActiveX isn't a single entity. Web-sites and so forth use them for things. For example, Windows WGA requires a ActiveX control. So the active x flash player is not something that's already installed? -- Do I go ahead and install it even though the computer shows that it's already in my programs??Test it here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/Thanks Broni. -- I WENT to the site and couldn't view the content the window and saw where it said I needed to get the latest version of flash player so I went ahead and clicked to download and got a page where it says, |

Solve : Desktop items won't load, and neither will task manager upon rebooting? |
|
Answer» When i restart my computer and log onto my account, all it does is show my background. It won't load any desktop items or the taskbar. I have tried to run task manager, but that has failed also. This just STARTED happening when I tried to restart my computer (which i had to do quite often because of my internet not working) not that long ago. I have run many virus scans on safemode because i know that my computer had been infected several times before, but still the same thing happens when I restart the computer normally. Everything works fine on the SafeMode, but I cannot do anything on the normal mode. I am practically technologically impaired, and would LOVE some help on this. |
