There are 10n results of it.Find another XP computer FULL format a floppy (not to make a bootdisk) and copy the (hidden) ntldr, ntdetect.com and boot.ini files to it.

Put it into your computer's floppy drive and START up.

"NTLDR is missing" can come up for a number of reasons one being if you put a large number of files on the root of C: , namely directly ONTO the C: drive and not in a folder.

It can be corrupted by a virus or just plain damaged.

You need to ensure that the boot.ini file is the same as the one you have on your machine. The standard boot.ini files are...

If you have installed the Recovery Console on your boot drive there will be an additional line...

You can easily Edit the boot.ini file with Notepad, if you have to.

From any web site, when opening a pdf page I cannot print the text of the page but pictures will print. The text is visible on the screen and on the print preview screen but does not print. I have no problems printing any other pages, only the pdf textTry using the PRINTER icon within the Adobe Reader plugin not the browser print option.

Why is it "MS ACCESS"?

Can i save a snaphot here and retrive it later in other file Like MS word.Snapshot files (.snp) are a part of the MS Access PROGRAM and are used as a way to save/email reports at a particular instance of time.

As far as opening the .snp file with word, I don't believe that is possible. You can CUT and paste the snapshot IMAGE into a word document though.

I have a simple black and white image (line DRAWING). I would like to MAKE everything that is white to be transparant, so that only the lines show.

Currently when I TRY to move the image onto a COLORED backgound, the white background comes with it.

THANKS for your help!The only reason i asked is when i used Ghost on another machine that i didn't create the disk on i remember a similiar message.
I would try MAKING a new boot disk and see how that WORKS.
Also the image FILE can't be on the same partition/drive you are trying to restore.

or you can doot up the pc form an win98 cd and make a ghost.exe cd and work with the cd's.

You try to create the boot disk no with PC-DOS, Create it with MS-DOS. If it needs command.com, create MS-DOS startup disk and place it your Floopy Drive and you`ll crete bt disk NGhost 2003 by MS-DOS.

I am having ISSUES with completing scans on the Epson RX 620 scanner. It working fine until I also loaded the drivers for the Epson 3170. However, when I want to scan, the software QUEUS me to select which scanner, which I do, and then I can BOOT the EPSOP smart panel and scan a preview and everthing is fine...I get thumbnails properly and then I go for the full scan and the scanner begins and aborts and I get a pop-up saying their has been a communication failure.

I have reloaded the RX scanner's software to no avail.

Any HELP y'all can PROVIDE will be appreciated.

Use Add/Remove Hardware to uninstall the other scanner...
Then double-check in Control Panel after re-booting to make sure it is gone.

This is going to sound very ridiculous, but I have somehow "lost" Corel Graphic SUITES in my COMPUTER!

It shows up when I go to "Add/Remove Programs" via the Control Panel but is nowhere to be found when searching Program Files.

Have tried searching, but can only search Files or Folders. When I do find a CDR file extension, it says "Open with unknown application."

Does this make any sense at all?
Have searched through the Admin login, as well as my regular one - where it normally is...

Please please help - am trying to get some Christmas crafting done and am feeling frantic. Do have the original box and discs, but there are packed away somewhere...

A search for files and folders turns up 35 objects, though none of them are larger than 15mb.

Nothing shows up in the Menu system, and nothing is gained from exploring the files found via the search query.
Clicking on the links gets me this message: This action is only valid for PRODUCTS which are currently installed.

Uh - computer says it IS installed in Add/Remove...

Last time I used it, back in July ACCORDING to the computer, I am guessing I opened it from the menu system - as I normally would do.

Guess it's time to "remove" that program, from wherever it is hidden and re-install.

Wish me better luck in finding the Corel box in my storage locker....going to need some there too!

Ok so..i installed this cd-rom - Teaching You Italian...

It went through the installation ok - but then it never appeared in my START menu... I can locate the folder it installed to..but there is no icon in there to start it up with..
I have TRIED it on 2 friends computers and it works first time with them.

I've tried deleting it but i just have to press delete as it's not actually on the Add/Remove PROGRAM thing. I've tried REINSTALLING it but the same HAPPENS..not on program list.

For some reason my Send/Receive command is missing? I setup my account, the test worked FINE I guess, and whenever I send a message, it just sits in the outbox and is never sent. Thunderbird has no trouble with this, but I would prefer Outlook. Any idea why this isn't working?!

FlameI find that SENDING mail from Outlook is a silly two step process. At least, that's the way my system is working now. If I create a new message and click on Send, it just sits there in the Outbox, just as yours does. Then, if I click on Tools, Send/Receive, and Send All, the mail actually gets sent. Well, Flame, did your fire burn out? Did my comments help or not?Well, we have the same issue with the mail just sitting there, but the Send/Recieve button is not displaying.

I just tried sending a test message from Outlook 2003 on a different computer and it went immediately upon completing the message and clicking on Send. As I PREVIOUSLY mentioned, on my own/main computer, I have to click on Send/Receive, under Tools to get mail to leave the Outbox.

I don't know the reason for this inconsistency between computers. I would guess it must be something in email account settings in Outllook. I think I may try getting an answer from an Outlook newsgroup on this, if I can find one.Ok, how weird is this... I see the Send Recieve -> All. I click on it once, and it disappears! FlameI have learned why I had to click on Tools, Send/Receive, Send All, to MAKE my messages go out. I've changed a setting and now a new message is sent immediately upon completing the message and clicking on Send.

The setting is found via Tools, Options, then the Mail Setup tab. I checked the box for "Send immediately when connected". That did it.Button still disappears...

I've made a spreadsheet which calculates a VALUE. What I want to do (if it's possible) is to compare that value to another one and display a message depending on whether it is more or less than the second value (preferably in a colour).

In the example above, if you want to display "More" and "Less" in different colour, I think that has to be done by using Macro, but unfortunately I never learn to use Macro.Conditional Formatting will do what you want. You'll find Conditional Formatting under the Format menu. Let's use the formula provided in the other post as a basis for discussion; it was =IF(B1>A1,"More","Less"). Let's assume it's in CELL C1.

Select C1. Click on Format, then Conditional Formatting. In the box to the left of Condition 1, click on the drop down arrow and select "equal to". Then, in the next box to the right, enter "More" or "Less". Then, click on the Format button and set the format, i.e. color, etc., for it. This takes care of one condition, either "More" or "Less".

Now, click on the Add button at the bottom of the Conditional Formatting panel and GO through the same procedure for whichever ("More" or "Less") was not dealt with in the first step; this is Condition 2. Now, the answer will be displayed in different colors, depending on what it is.

Hi, I have this annoying problem where if I try to have an audio chat using AIM, MSN messenger, Skype online phone service, or anything similar, I get a very loud staticy sound that COMES and goes. It varies in duration but typically it will be on for a minute or two then gone for a minute or two. When it is gone audio works properly (I can hear the other person)

Audio works fine on my computer for normal sounds, music, games, or anything else.

Any ideas on what could be causing this? Could it be a driver issue?

They all can cause interference, try changing the channel on any wireless mice/keyboards.

Try removing all unnecessary devices connected to your SYSTEM to rule them out as well.To my knowledge static cannot be caused by faulty/corrupt drivers...this is more than likely a hardware issue.
Re-check all your physical connections and or try another mike.

I usually have my cell phone on my desk, but turning it off had no effect on my problem, and I don't have a wireless MOUSE or keyboard. The main thing that makes me think it's not an interference issue is that when the problem occurs (very loud, high volume crackling static), the volume indicator for MSN messenger, AIM, etc. shows max volume. So the software KNOWS when it's happening.

The timing of the sound also confuses me. EVERYTHING will be fine for a minute or so, then it goes away and everything operates fine. And like I said, my sound always works fine for everything else besides voice over internet applications.

Another thing is that the other person can hear me through my webcam microphone whether I am having this sound trouble or not.

Since you can't zoom to less than 100% I don't see a way to copy large areas other than multiple cut and pastes.

I got this antivirus a couple of NIGHTS before and i decided to install it last night. But during the instalation it gave me some errors saying that some file does not exist and that i should make it. But it didnt tell me what file and i could only click ok. It did that a couple of times UNTILL it said that it was installed and i had the option of restarting now or later. I chose later because i was playing Football Manager 06 and i had to save the game and get out of it first.

But i noticed that after the instalation nothing worked anymore. Jesus, i cant even access paint to post a picture of what error it gives me on anything i click.

It says : The file does not have a program ASSOCIATED with it for performing this action. Create in the Foler Options control panel. :S

Whats annoying about it is that i cant do a system restore. If i go to click on that i get that message. I'm not a computer wiz, but i know that sometimes it's better to work in safe mode. So i did go there and i tried to do a system rstore there but even in safe mode i get these problems. Only that safe mode asks you if you are there just to do a system restore. I say yes and System Restore"shows" up. Only that it is a blank window and nothing else will HAPPEN. I dont know what to do anymore. I'd hate to lose all my memory sisnce i have about 90GB of taken memory right now.

Please help if you can. Have you tried uninstalling Norton and seeing if that helps.

By PLAYING AROUND and modifying things i was able to get XTRee Gold to run in all flavors of Windows and still use it everyday...

I have the file saved as a .pdf but when I try the import/export option I get an error telling me that I do not have the permission the acces the files??? Then Open Outlook 2003 and from File menu choose Import and Import that folder to Outlook 2003.

I have a compaq deskpro 2000 with a 2.1GB hard drive. The computer has an Intel Pentium MMX processor. I got this computer a week ago and I having problems with viewing the partitions on the hard drive. When ever I boot with a start up disk, get to the COMMAND PROMPT and type "fdisk", I receive an error saying "No fixed disk present." When I tried to get into the BIOS, it doesn't let me. After pressing F10 it just has "Starting MS-DOS..." on the top left corner and it stays in that same screen. When I let the computer boot it goes to a screen where it has "Starting Windows 95..." on the top left corner. Then beneath that it says "Type the name of the Command Interpreter (e.g., C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM)" What ever I type on this screen it will prompt me the same message again and again. I can't view or delete existing partitions on the hard drive because fdisk wont' work and I can't get into the BIOS to view information about the system because pressing F10 KEY won't work. What can be the problem? If I try installing another hard drive, would this MAKE a difference? Thanks...Whatever happened prior to all of this may provide some help.

The 2000 had a diagnostic diskette series (2 disks I believe) that could be downloaded which needed to be used to set up components, do diagnostics, etc. and create a diagnostics partition on the hard drive. Search the compaq web site for these. You have to make sure the hardware is functioning correctly and set up properly to proceed.

Hey. I have downloaded a movie, and the AUDIO is very good, but the video is pretty bad. Then I downloaded another version of the same movie and now the video is very good, but the audio is in French. So I asked myself if there is any way to seperate the audio and the video and put the good audio and video TOGETHER. Does someone know how I can do this? I have a program called VirtualDub and with this programm I think it should be possible to make a soundfile. But I really don't know how this programm works. After i insert the CD, it SAYS "Please Press any key to Boot from CD" and go to blue SCREEN and after all of those drivers or hardware inspection, my computer just says "Setup is Starting Windows," and freezes.

Could it be WRONG with hardware?

You have your boot sequence set to cd-rom 1st boot ....... then you put the Win XPpro disk in the cd-rom and then reboot ......... it begins to load and then locks up ?

I need to find a program that logs everytime that my computer is booted (ie, The computer is turned on at 7am, when i turn it back on at 9pm, i need to be able to check that it was turned on earlier that day at 7am). If you are using Windows XP then your System EVENTS Log should already hold this info...

I have just installed Nero Express 6 DVD burning software with my Liteon DVD burner. I have made copies of several disks and now my 80 gig HD is full and I cannot do any more burning.

My problem is that I am unable to locate where Nero has made an image of these dvd's on my HD.

I had about 30 gig's free and now I have 4.2 gig's free.

I have looked and tried everything to find these files and I am still not able to locate them. :-?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I have looked in all of neros saved projects folders and they are all empty.

I have also used the search with every possible combination of search fields and still can not locate these image files.

Right now, I feel that my only option is to fdisk and format my hard drive and reinstall all my app's and O/S and start over again.

I have tried for 3 days to resolve this problem.

Has anybody else had this problem and if so, how were they able to fix it.

JeffAre you sure the missing SPACE (25GBs?) is the result of burning?Make a system restore point and then run disk cleanup removing all of your old system restore POINTS and see if the space returns.

If you use tweakui for xp there is a special folder for cd burning under 'my computer' 'special folders'.Why not just do an advanced search for files over 1GB (or 600MB if you were burning CDs)? That should give you the location.I will try the two suggestions that were given to me.

I did try the advanced search looking for over 1 gig folders and turned up nothing. Maybe I am not using the search feature correctly.

I will report after I'm done.

JeffAre you searching for hidden files and folders, and have you tried unhiding these?I have tried the system restore and the search of large files. Neither effort has helped me get back my HD space. I am looking in all hidden and system files also.

The System Information feature allows you to view the size of each folder in a drive.

I am reporting that "I finally fixed" my problem. After 6 days of trying to find out why I COULD not find where Nero Express was putting my DVD disk images I, by accident went into Norton's protected recycle bin option and found them all there. I purged the file and got back all of my HD disk space.

I now know that when files are saved under Norton's protected recycle bin feature that these files DO NOT show up under any other search option.

I would like to thank everybody who read this string and will participate in forums in the future.

I'm trying to install an older version of Crystal Reports on my new computer and during the SETUP phase it looks to see if I have enough space on my hard drive. My new computer has gobs of space available but the setup come back showing I have a large negative amount available and won't let me install. Is there anything I can do to install? I'm THINKING that the new hard drive is in the GIGABYTES and the setup can't handle that large of an integer.

I've tried copying the installed program over but it can't find a dll. I've copied every dll required from the old drive but the program still can't find it. I bought version 8 of Crystal and it has so many bugs in it I wont use it. Which OPERATING system are you using? Is this program compatible with your system?

I recently discovered that my father purchased a new anti-virus software for me. He purchased EZ Antivirus from eTrust. I've personally never heard or used it before so I have no idea if it's good at all. Couple of questions:
1) Is there really a significant difference between free anti-viruses and the ones you buy?
2) Would AVG, Ewido, or Kerio interfere with the new software?
3) Has anyone used it or heard about it? If so, is it good?

working with inherited system with 98 that had previously had more than one copy of quickbooks INSTALLED on it. add/remove, ccleaner and another UNINSTALLER don't seem to find it as an application for removal. hesitant to just delete but would like to get this off the system.

any ideas would be wlecomeIf it's not in add/remove, and there is no uninstaller for it in the program group, just delete the directory. Nothing else to do.yeah that is my thought ...was just wondering if there's anything else i need to be aware of when i do that...Since it is an Intuit program, there may be directoried in Program Files as Intuit and/or Quickbooks. Just deklete them all. Don't worry about chasing down DLL's.I've found that with inherited and or used systems a fdisk, format and clean install is the best way to go...

I use DVD Shrink to copy DVDs to my computer's hard drive and I use Sonic to burn these files to a DVD-R

I've burned one DVD as a data disc. Is that correct? When I put it in my LAPTOP, it brings up the file, but I have to go into the folder and double click on an icon to get the DVD playing.

I would like to know the proper WAY to burn the files onto a DVD-R using this software in order to be able to put the disc into a typical home DVD player and have it play just like the original. That is my goal.

I do not currently have a home unit that is DVD-R compatible or else I would fool around until I figured it out. But I can gain access to one once I think I have the PROCESS correct.

To make a video file (such as one processed by DVD Shrink) work in a home player, it must be burned using a DVD-Video (DVD) format.

A simple way is to encode your file and output it as an ISO (disk image meeting ISO standards).

This image can then be written to DVD using your burner application. I use Shrink (compresses and creates ISO file) and Roxio Easy Media CREATOR (compresses and writes the ISO file to disk).

I'm having a strange Outlook issue and cannot figure it out for the LIFE of me. Our mail server is Exchange 5.5 (can't recall the SP right now), and the Client is Outlook 2000 SR-1. The user can view his primary email box without any troubles, but also has access to another Exchange email box. He can view every folder in it except the Sent Items. The error it returns is "Unable to DISPLAY the folder". What's strange is he can view the subfolder in Sent Items, no problem. I've configured his email on a different PC, and EVERYTHING shows up fine, so I know that it's not an issue with the Exchange permissions. I've applied every recent Office patch, repaired Office, done a clean install of Office, etc. I've also uninstalled Office, and removed every reference to it in the registry, only to be presented with the same issue when it was installed again. After cleaning out the registry and installing Office, the Outlook profile still remained. I don't know where the configuration for the Outlook profiles are stored, so I didn't delete it. I'm stumped on this one, and it's driving the user crazy. One more thing, the user originally had Office 97, and was upgraded to 2000. This setup has worked for years, so I have no idea why it would stop working, other than a possible corrupted file. Any input on this would be appreciated.Have you tried wiping out the user's Outlook data directory? That's usually under their profile, in a hidden folder Application Data-->Microsoft-->Outlook. I seem to recall a command line startup for Outlook also that may help: outlook /repairfolders or something like that.I've wiped the data, and it didn't work.

Not sure what you're referring to with outlook/repairfolders. But if you're TAKING about repairing a pst folder, it doesn't apply as it's an exchange server, so everything is stored in priv.edb and pub.ebd on the server. These FILES aren't corrupted.
