Solve : Communication Not Available (Dell All-In-One Printer 926)? |
Answer» Hello. For a while now, I have been experiencing problems with my printer. On any random day, it will print FINE. On other days, if I press print, it brings up a box that say "Communication Not Available." I feel like the problem could be with the USB ports in the back of my desktop PC. They have been acting up a lot for a long time now. So please, any help will be appreciated. Please don't automatically tell me to get a new printer or a new PC. I would like to explore all possible options before I buy ANYTHING. Thanks in advance! |

Solve : What should I get for my computer?? |
Answer» Hey guys, some of you may remember me! Note: I want 2 GB of Ram. But I want it in 2 seperate slots so It works better then have 2GB in one slot. 1 GB in 1 slot, 1 GB in another. If it matters... It does matter.. If you want dual channel (doubled bandwidth across the memory bus) then you'll need two ram modules of equal size. Although some motherboards (i think) offer dual channel with without equal capacity. What I would do if I were you, is look at the hardware requirements for the games you want to play (they should be listed on the websites or game packages), while taking into consideration the hardware requirements for the video EDITING software you want to run, and try to get the best video card you can for the money that you have, making SURE that the card will run on your choice of motherboard..Alright, I'm going to post the minimum system requirements for 4 of the main games I want. I need to be able to run them, with multiple programs at the same time without lagging. Swat 4: System requirements 1.2 GHz processor, 128 MB RAM, 32 MB video card, 2 GB free hard drive Halo Combat Evolved: Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Second Edition, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows XP. Computer/Processor: 733 megahertz (MHz) processor. DirectX: DirectX® 9.0 or later. (DirectX 9.0b is installed by Halo.) Memory: 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM. Hard Disk: 1.2 gigabytes (GB) of free hard disk space. Video card: 32 MB with 3D Transform and Lighting capable. CD: 8X. Sound: Sound card, speakers, or headphones with multiplayer play. *56.6 Kilobytes per second (KBps) modem or 10 MB network adapter. Multiplayer servers require broadband to run a server. *Additionally, you must have an Internet Service provider (ISP) or a Local Area Network (LAN), if you want to play multi-player games. Counter Strike Source: System requirements 1.2 GHz processor, 256 MB RAM, DirectX 7 capable graphics card, Internet connection (broadband or better recommended) Face of Mankind: - PC with Windows XP/Vista/7 - 2.0 GHz processor - 1 GB RAM - DirectX 9 compatible VGA card with pixel shader 2.0 support and 128 MB video RAM - Minimum graphical resolution of 1024x768 pixels - DirectX 9.0c - DirectX compatible sound card - 5 GB of free harddisk space These are the main games I want to get for it. The computer will need to be able to handle these, as well as be able to have 3-4 small programs like ventrilo working under it, and with those programs up, not lag me AT ALL. For my budget.Motherboard CPU Operating System Heatsink/Fan for that motherboard Thermal Grease for CPU CASE Video Card supporting Minimum Pix. Shader 2.0 minimum 1 gigabyte of RAM/Qualified Vendor List Power Supply Hard Drive DVD drive/burner After tax and shipping, it should come out to approx. 550 bucks, maybe a little over.. This does not include a monitor, mouse, keyboard, or speakers.. If you want dual channel memory enabled on your board, you could get two separate 512 MB memory sticks... Can you list the names specifically? Because the guy at the shop says that he'll buy the parts and put it together. And we'll just pay him back for the parts & a bit for his labor. Now these parts, all this together should get me $550 worth AND I should be able to play any of these 4 games. While being able to run them fast without computer lag, and have ventrilo and possibly 2 other programs running under it and keep the same normal speed? And these parts will allow me to run my computer normally using basic things like Internet Explorer and MSN without lag. Aswell as handle all my video production needs. So if I wanted to play SWAT 4, while talking on ventrilo, using a mod and have MSN up and I wont lag right? Quote from: WillNeedsHelpFast on March 07, 2010, 10:19:08 PM Can you list the names specifically? Those blue icons I listed are not for decoration, you're suppose to click on them and they bring you to the website where you can purchase them, listing there exact "names". With this hardware and your budget I think you'll be able to play your games just fine...Hey just a minute PLEASE. Let's talk about the Internet lets talk about computer games. Did you say online games? What kind of online games exactly. Do you mean again that the game s loaded onto your computer and the links to the Internet just to allow the other person to interact with you. Or is this a game that is completely hosted and on a server and everything you see on the screen comes off the Internet. Some games can be played both ways. The faster machine has an advantage if the Internet is used just to sync wto complete programs together using the Internet as a link. But the other kind of Internet game is just a game being played on a server with different players on the Internet having access to the game on the server at the same time. Here's what I'm trying to get at. You talk about lag on the Internet. If it really is lag on the Internet, what we call a latency problem, it has little to do with your processor speed. It has more to do with your local ISP and whether or not they allow those kind of computer games and full support of protocol. The faster CPU is an edge when the game is not really originating on the Internet, but the game originates on your computer and on some other computer and the two computers are simply linked together so that both users can be in both games at the same time. In that case the faster computer has an advantage. Now if you have this all figured out, pardon me for butting in. It's just that you said Internet lag. Internet lag is not an issue made by computers just sending back and forth a small amount of data that is used to identify the relative positions and status of the users. Well if his ISP is not up to the task, he'll just have to upgrade it, or change providers.. by the way, WillNeedsHelpFast, you'll probably have to factor in an extra fan, so you've got at least one fan, other than your PSU fan, doing work.. So you'll have one fan in back, one cpu fan, and the PSU fan, which is already in the power supply Quote from: WillNeedsHelpFast on March 07, 2010, 07:43:20 PM Alright, so I'm getting a new computer, and my MAX budget is $550 USD. Hey,I want a beach house in Malibu for $30,000. For $550 you can get a machine that most people would be happy with, but it's no where near the top of the line for gaming machines or video production. Your are going to have to make some trade offs or increase your budget. I would suggest starting with something that you could add to little by little as your budget allows. Some high end video game and video editing machines run from $3,000 to $10,000, and if you are talking professional machines, a whole lot more. Quote from: rthompson80819 on March 07, 2010, 11:15:00 PM I would suggest starting with something that you could add to little by little as your budget allows. The motherboard I suggested does have PCIe 2.0, which he can utilize later, when he gets the money, although an LGA 775 processor could bottleneck a good PCIe 2.0 card... I also tacked on an extra 100 watts on his psu for this type of thing after calculating with full power draw on each component... Two 17-amp 12v rails should leave him room... There was another board I saw for only about 10 dollars more that uses the LGA 1156.. But of course the Core i5, i7 costs would skimp off of other qualities.. I know they're clickable. I just gotta GO through and write them down. I'm not sure which it is, but it's not my internet lag. My internet is fast. But I have the actual computer lag. I. E. In Face of Mankind when I go around defending my home world, I lag like *censored*. Other players with good enough computers go around, the game runs smooth from them. They pull their gun, they fire, crack crack. The guns bullets hit on both screens at the right times, one falls. Now I'f I was the shooter, crack crack and next thing I know, they're behind me. Because on their screen, they smoothly strolled on by and got behind me. While to me it looks infront of me. Also, if I go into a teleporter, they go in, click their destination, and arrive within 1.5 minutes. I go in, it takes up to 10 minutes to get there. Now when you're home colony is being raided by a warring faction, do you know how hard it is to fight off the attackers if you cant even load your home colony? I can only load on 1 colony with minimal lag, any more and I lag terribly. I think it's because of my video card & RAM. It's not my internet, it's my computer itself. Quote from: rthompson80819 on March 07, 2010, 11:15:00 PM Hey,I want a beach house in Malibu for $30,000. For $550 you can get a machine that most people would be happy with, but it's no where near the top of the line for gaming machines or video production. Your are going to have to make some trade offs or increase your budget. I'm not asking for this thing to suck my *censored* alright? It just needs to be able to do what I asked for that price. It doens't have to be high top, but while money is tight right now, this is all I have for it.Well good luck to you.. Post back if you have problems after it's built Stick with the single 1G ram module I recommended, and just add an extra one (exact same one) when you get some extra money. Then you'll have dual channel enabled which will greatly help the memory bandwidth, not to mention that more ram is always better. Also, if you don't buy these items from NewEgg, I don't know what kind of deal you'll get on them, elsewhere. Other places may want more, for the same stuff.Yeah newegg is sexy, do they sell computer mics? Cause I'll need it for narrations. I just got it all written down, when I can get the money together and the time I'm going to have the guy at the shop do it. Yeah, I wanted to get 2 gigs. 1 in 1 slot and 1 in another slot. For a total of 2 gigs, but not on the same slot. I heard it will allow me to multi-task and not have my computer run off just the 1 slot. Quote from: WillNeedsHelpFast on March 08, 2010, 12:42:29 AM do they sell computer mics? take your pick http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=122&name=MicrophonesFrom your description of the problem it sounds like a issue with the network connection (not necessarily the internet, but the actual NIC) and/or the cable. Quote Some high end video game and video editing machines run from $3,000 to $10,000, and if you are talking professional machines, a whole lot more.3K-10K is a huge over-estimation; but 550 dollars will generally be relatively low-end. on the other hand- it really depends what his current PC is! Anyway: the build EEVIAC described: Motherboard:ASUS P5G43T-M Pro LGA 775 Intel G43 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail CPU: Intel Pentium E6600 3.06GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Dual-Core Desktop Processor - Retail CASE: Black Apex TX Series Micro ATX Tower Computer Case TX-381-C, 90mm Fan, w/o Power Supply PSU: SeaSonic S12II 380B 380W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Retail Graphics: SPARKLE SF-PX84GS512U2-HP Passive GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - Retail HD:Western Digital Caviar Blue WD800AAJS 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive DVD:LITE-ON Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 24X DVD Writer LightScribe Support - Retail It's important to note that all CPU's come with a heat sink, fan, and thermal grease, and as long as you don't overclock, these will work great. (don't believe ANYBODY who tells you otherwise- it just wouldn't make economic sense for Intel or AMD to sell a CPU with a warranty and then include a heatsink/paste that makes sure people will need that warranty, does it? I was going to say that some of these components were relatively low on the scale, but then I remembered the 550$ limit, which sort of LIMITS selection I guess . No offense intended EEVIAC (it is a good build, I couldn't come up with anything better myself) but it might be a good idea to wait for Patio, I remember Patio and Calum helped shave a good several hundred dollars off my 1,100 dollar or so build, AND the resulting PC was far better, so you never know. Don't know how one could improve EEVIAC's suggestion (aside from using the cost of the heatsink/fan and thermal paste and putting it towards the other components) but then again that's what I thought about mine at the time as well! |

Answer» Hello and thank you for looking at my problem. massive 256MB of RAM There ya go... With the price of RAM these days he should have done this a year ago... PS. Most any app can be removed from the Startup folder...they are only shortcuts. Why games would be in there i have no idea. DLoad and install Startup CPL from MIKE Lin. NOTE: Do NOT remove anything if you don't know what it is.If the grandkids have downloaded games I'll bet there's a whack of spyware on it as well....Two antivirus programs running at startup will do the same.Definitely increase the ammount of RAM you have in your system. Also Defragging would be incredibly helpful. Try Auslogics Defragger. A speedy tool for defragging without the hassle of compressing and moving files like the original windows defragger does. Remove any games you don't need, tell your kids first And try CHKDSK for any errors. As mentioned remove un-needed startup files, it is usually safe to remove all startup items. Also Super-Anti-spyware is a helpful antispyware program I occasionally use. It's pretty much vital you Get more RAM. A minimum of 1GB RAM suitable for your motherboard will help a bunch. If your computer is still slow after all that I'd be surprised.you must have upgrade your ram memory make it 1 or 2g read your mobo manual to know the maximum capacity of your mobo. dfragment is helpful do this twice a week.. remove unnecessary programs like games.. always update the anti virus and regularly scan and clean your hdd for viruses which is possible causes in running your pc slower.. 1) Remove unnecessary programs or games. Consult first your grand kids. 2) Do some cleanup, virus scan, and defragmentation 3) If still slow, upgrade your RAM. 1GB or higher is better. But check first the compatibility to your main board.Who's feeding the parrotts again ? ?WOW Thanks everybody for your replies. Patio thanks for the reference I'll get that first and fix the startup menu. I think that is where a lot of the drag comes from. Karnac, I think the AVG and McAfee running would be another slowing aspect.... I I've taken them both out and replaced them with Microsoft Essentials. (I dont know if that's up there with other good ones... but it WORKS at this point). Junkz, jonas.tech and geek hoodlum, the ram is most probably why the pages on the net take such a long time to load. He's a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to computers. Certainly in todays world 1 gig would be a minimum requirement for a computer. So I'll see if I have a few sticks hanging around that will suit it. Lets see if we can bring him into the 19th century at least. Thanks Junkz, for the Auslogics Defrag, I'll get that now and run that next. Kids games are a really big hassle. I'll bet there will be heaps of little trojans, viruses and all sorts of spyware in there because of it. I don't know at this point whether he has ADSL or dial up but the modem has only got a small connection for the line in. Its an E162061 card, I can find a few little bits about it but don't know much more. Its a 56k modem. Is that compatible with ADSL? I can buy one from just about anywhere but they don't tell you anything about the card at all. Come to think of it he must be on ADSL because he doesn't have a home phone now. Great , thanks for the help everyone. I'll get back to it then and give you an update. Quote from: ImnoGuru on March 06, 2010, 04:53:02 AM I think the AVG and McAfee running would be another slowing aspect.... I I've taken them both out and replaced them with Microsoft Essentials. (I dont know if that's up there with other good ones... but it works at this point).Microsoft Security Essentials is good. Quote from: ImnoGuru on March 06, 2010, 04:53:02 AM Certainly in todays world 1 gig would be a minimum requirement for a computer. So I'll see if I have a few sticks hanging around that will suit it. Lets see if we can bring him into the 19th century at least.I have 512MB in my Win XP system. Works pretty good, IMO, but I probably keep my system more finely tuned than many other users. Looking for "a few sticks hanging around" may not suit. You'll need to be sure the RAM works in his computer. BTW, ImnoGuru, we're in the 21st century now. Quote Kids games are a really big hassle. I'll bet there will be heaps of little trojans, viruses and all sorts of spyware in there because of it.And this means anti-virus and anti-malware scans should be run. Quote I don't know at this point whether he has ADSL or dial up but the modem has only got a small connection for the line in. Its an E162061 card, I can find a few little bits about it but don't know much more.A 56k modem is not ADSL by any means. ADSL, or simply DSL, is typically at least 15, or many more, times faster than a 56k modem. Quote Come to think of it he must be on ADSL because he doesn't have a home phone now. This statement doesn't make sense. DSL works on a regular phone line. So, he either has a home phone line or he's on cable, not DSL. Quote from: soybean on March 06, 2010, 07:14:07 AM DSL works on a regular phone line. So, he either has a home phone line or he's on cable, not DSL. Will DSL work if there is a phone line to the house, but the phone service is disconnected?Yes. If the Bill is paid.Btw, DSL and ADSL are not the same. Typically ADSL is faster than plain DSL, often times much faster. Quote from: rthompson80819 on March 06, 2010, 01:37:01 PM Btw, DSL and ADSL are not the same. Typically ADSL is faster than plain DSL, often times much faster.Well, I believe DSL is commonly used as generic term to mean ADSL or SDSL. A reference: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-difference-between-dsl-and-adsl.htmDSL has become a generic term to mean data over twisted pair copper phone LINES. DSL was the first widespread data service offered by phone companies and it's average speed was around 384k. ADSL was developed to offer faster download speeds to compete with cable companies. Today the majority of "DSL" subscribers actually have ADSL. I'm thinking that's what Soybean meant... |

Solve : Please recommend a low cost video card that runs 3 displays? |
Answer» I recently purchased a Gateway DX4831-01E (6GB memory, Intel i3-530 processor, 1TB HD, 300 watt power SUPPLY, PCI express SLOT) for $550. I don't know anything about video cards but heard that some cards have ATI eyefinity technology that allows 3 displays to be used with the one video card. I only want the 3 displays for internet surfing and do not need a high end video card since I do not do any gaming. If ANYONE can find a video card that can run 3 displays and only requires a 300 watt power supply computer that would be great, but I am guessing that I will need to change out my power supply to a HIGHER wattage rated power supply. |

Solve : Safe Mode & wireless keyboards? |
Answer» I tried to boot in safe mode recently and it just booted up as it should instead of booting in safe mode. I hit F8 just as I've always done and it used to work. I tried this so many times and it never worked. I RAN virus, spyware, & malware scans. I've also tried to do a repair INSTALLATION and my keyboard doesn't respond. I'll hit enter, etc. and it's just like I haven't touched a thing. I've had this COMPUTER for several years and it came with this wireless keyboard. Why have I been able to access Safe Mode by hitting F8 all of those years and now it has suddenly stopped and I can't use my keyboard unless Windows is loaded. I have changed the batteries and hit reset on the receiver but it doesn't make any difference. I have had too many times over the years when Windows would not load in a normal way and I would have to hit F8 and boot in Safe Mode to make repairs, etc. and it would work with this keyboard then so why not now? I prefer to keep it working because one day, I will need it again. I downloaded the bios update for this computer today and INSTALLED it but it didn't help a bit. Can anyone explain this and what should I do?Hi there, Hi there,I can get into Safe mode in 3 ways, one is if Windows loads and I go to msconfig and change the boot up to diagnostic, a hard boot as you suggested, and the other is if I connect a wired keyboard to my computer. I borrowed my husband's keyboard, which is wired, and connected it and I could get into safe mode. Everything worked as it should with his keyboard. If my keyboard is connected, I can't get into safe mode, I can't boot from cd because it says "hit key to boot from cd" and my keyboard doesn't respond. But, who wants to have to borrow a keyboard every time you need to reinstall windows, etc. Does it sound like it's on last keys?I'd just buy a PS2 keyboard for yourself to keep for times like this... You may want to check in the BIOS to see if "legacy USB support" is enabled although not all have this option... Quote from: patio on March 13, 2010, 09:02:07 AM I'd just buy a PS2 keyboard for yourself to keep for times like this... I'm sorry I forgot to mention while I was using a keyboard that worked, I checked my settings and "legacy USB support" was enabled. I was thinking about purchasing a PS2 keyboard if this is the way wireless are going to be. Thanks for your time. |

Solve : no master recognised on primary?? |

Answer» I'm running out of space on my existing DRIVE (Seagate 80Gb 'Barracuda 7200.7' model ST380011A, ultra DMA) and so bought a WD 160Gb PATA (cheap being the preferable option before total upgrade). Followed steps in an 'upgrades' magazine but computer wouldn't boot. Noticed for the 1st time that with the new drive unplugged, existing drive is recognised as slave whether it is on the end or middle connector. |

Solve : toshiba laptop has white screen on bootup? |
Answer» my toshiba laptop has a white screen on bootup. I figured it might be the lCD that was bad, so I hooked it up to an external monitor. And there was the display. I thought that maybe the video driver on the laptoop was defective, so I decided to update the driver, but in the rush of THING I uninstalled it by mistake. And there went the display. Is there any way to set the driver to the state it was earlier by maybe resetting the BIOS somehow, and if so, how would i reset the BIOS. I want to also eventually reload the OS, so that it will have all the right DRIVERS. Is there a way to do that, maybe through an external drive or by putting this drive into another laptop? Are you talking about a laptop or netbook? If you want to re-install Windows, you should just be able to put the Windows CD into the drive and reboot and follow the directions. To update your Bios, go to the toshiba WEBSITE and download the BIOS update, and then install the BIOS (you will need a USB Stick to do that)i KNOW, its easy when there is video on the screen, but Im just getting a blank screen when I boot up, that is, plain white. And there isnt any display when i HOOK it to an external monitor either |

Solve : I deleted sound on my computer by accident!? |
Answer» I deleted the program by accident (i think it was called realtek audio or something) and don't know how to get it back! Here's my everest info? Have you gone under Microsoft Update, and looked for "Hardware" updates? Your sound driver would be in there.NEVER download drivers from Microsoft / Windows update. Always obtain them from the OEM websites. You can also go to DEVICE MANAGER under the Computer management icon from the Administrative Control menu under Settings and find the audio card. It should have a yellow exclamation mark or question mark. Follow the screen instructions to download a new driver from the MS database. |

Solve : Cannot power on computer after installing MS Updates? |
Answer» I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop running Windows XP which would not power up (This is my son's machine so I don't KNOW which SP if any have been installed). The machine would turn on the power LCD light and then shut completely down- I mean completely. I did all dionogistics I Know of (replaced fan, changed PCU,etc) and determined that it was a problem with the motherboard. I replaced the motherboard with one purchased on E-Bay and the machine booted up and it was running just OK (extremely slow!) so I decided to run the Windows Updates before I went any farther. After the updates were installed the machine was automaticly rebooted. After the machine shut down it would not boot up again so I shut down the machine manually, after that the machine returned to the origanal problem (When powered on the power LCD woulg go on then shut off the machine completely (I mean completely!). Can anyone help me with this problem? THANKSCould be hard DRIVE failure. A reformat of the computer could be necessary. Or the problem could be with both motherboards. Don't buy stuff like that off of ebay. Go to Newegg.com or a site that just sells computer parts. Quote from: lolopop81 on March 14, 2010, 05:38:13 PM Don't buy stuff like that off of ebay. Quote from: lolopop81 on March 14, 2010, 05:38:13 PM A reformat of the computer could be necessary. Not entirely sure how you would re-format a computer that will not switch on... Quote from: lolopop81 on March 14, 2010, 05:38:13 PM Could be hard drive failure. Yes I agree... It may be worth getting the computer taken to a professional to have the various hardware tested then you will know. It's hard to diagnose a problem when the computer fails to start. Is there anything on the screen when you turn the laptop on? Post screen, LOGO, etc?No, the computer will not stay powered up. Again, when I PUSH the power button the power LED lights for about 10 seconds and then the machine shuts down completely. I am going to TRY another motherboard and see what happens without the MS Updates. Thanks for your interest! |

Solve : Re: Power SupplySpecs for small computer speakers? |
Answer» Hi t_blake07, you are confused maybe or is English not your first language? Seriously? ANYWAYS, I've never owned speakers that didn't plug directly into the wall via AC adapter, nor have I seen speakers that were powered by the PC itself. Doesn't mean they don't exhist, i've just never seen any. Then again i've never looked to buy speakers that would provide a "feeble" sound as you described above. So I apologize for the confusion. Quote from: Salmon Trout on March 14, 2010, 03:05:45 PM Sets of powered speakers come in different sizes and have different voltage and current requirements. There is no way to tell what type or size of power supply the OP needs because we don't know what speakers he or she has. I am confused about this though. If the speakers are powered through a wall outlet, why would it matter what the PC's power supply wattage output is? Quote from: t_blake07 on March 14, 2010, 03:31:38 PM I am confused about this though. If the speakers are powered through a wall outlet, why would it matter what the PC's power supply wattage output is? Again, I wonder about your reading skills. I never mentioned the PC's power supply's wattage. Quote from: Ism Startech Cyber Acoustics CA2016 Maybe best to buy the right Startech psu Quote Seriously? Roll Eyes Anyways, I've never owned speakers that didn't plug directly into the wall via AC adapter, nor have I seen speakers that were powered by the PC itself.I have. Bought on in South America. The case had a jack for the five volt line. Speakers and case were sold as a set. Never saw another one after that. There should be a small circle with a dot in the middle of it next to the DC input jack. There will also be a + mark with a line pointing to the dot in the center of the circle or the circle itself. That indicates which pole is positive. Easiest solution is to go to Radio Shack and get a universal DC supply. They come with a variety of input adapters, have polarity reverse switches and selectable voltages. Most (bit not all) speakers have a center positive connection and are powered by about 9 volts DC. If you get a 500ma. 3-12 VDC supply you will be fine. Set the supply for 9 vdc to start unless you can see the voltage marking on the speaker as was earlier described. BTW in the US these ARE referred to as "wall warts" Quote from: Geek-9pm on March 14, 2010, 03:46:55 PM I have. Bought on in South America. The case had a jack for the five volt line. Speakers and case were sold as a set. Never saw another one after that. Like I said in the same reply that you quoted, i've never seen any, doesn't mean they don't exhist though. Quote from: Salmon Trout on March 14, 2010, 03:43:56 PM Again, I wonder about your reading skills. I never mentioned the PC's power supply's wattage. Wow. I'm actually arguing with someone on a forum about speakers. You said there is no way to tell what type or size of PSU is needed, because we don't know the specs/requirements of the speakers. Again I ask, why does it matter if the speakers are already powered? If you even bother responding, try and do so WITHOUT an insulting tone. When he says the speakers are powered that simply means there is an amplifier INSIDE the speaker. The term does NOT mean there is AC or DC power already provided for the speaker. All powered (amplified) speakers need an external SOURCE of AC or DC electrical power.Ism, I'm a little confused on why you asked the first question. If you have the ac to dc converter that came with the speakers, why are you asking about what is needed to power the speakers? Are the speakers not working? If the ac to dc converter is dead the output voltage is usually, but not always, marked on the part that plugs into the wall. If the ac to dc adapter is dead, most electronics stores have adapters that will work. But unless you have really good speakers, it may be cheaper just to buy a new set of speakers. If he can not get the speakers to work, send them to me. I need an extra pair of speakers. |

Solve : Suddenly: sound error; no sound device? |
Answer» Hello: Suddenly today I got this message when I tried to play a music FILE. Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly. Then I realized that none of my sound players would emit any sounds. And, instead of the "start up" sounds coming from the speakers and headphones, there is just a little beep from the computer itself. When I go to Control Panel and CLICK on Sounds and AUDIO Devices, it says No Audio Device. I don't know what made this happen or how to undo it. I have a webinar conference today and need to have the audio for it. Also, I can say that I did a complete virus and malware check (AVG) and there was nothing found. I think that when I signed up for the webinar (Cisco Webex) a file was uploaded that nulled my sound device. At any rate, I would like to FIX it. Would a "system restore" do? I don't know how to do that but I've heard about it. Unfortunately I don't know what my "sound device" was originally. I think it came with the Mother Board and stuff. Thanks for any help, as quick as you can. In peace Dr. D'EliaLook in Device Manager - any errors?Nvidia WDM Video Capture Universal has a yellow explanation point beside it. Does that mean something?First thing you want to do is download and install the LATEST driver for that device. |
