Would like to know what is the best way to recover a previously uploaded video or entire Video Album from my own Facebook account/timeline?

Today I get a program/plugin called MassFaces from Internet (who does this) and I would greatly appreciate if you could help me to use it or if you know other easy alternative way to do this.

I need to do this because I deleted by error some of my videos in my mobile phone, so as I have uploaded these videos in my Facebook account, I want to recover it to my computer/phone!

I just installed Norton internet security software 2013.
As soon as I installed Norton my screen saver sto working.

What should I do? Not to sound like a wiseguy, but the easy answer is stop using your screensaver. They are useless and they use resources. Instead, just set your hd and display to POWER down after a defined period of inactivity.Screensavers are a common source of viruses, it could be that yours was infected and Norton has removed it. Try going into display options and see if it lets you reselect it but I imagine Norton has removed it from the system.

But as Allan said, screensavers aren't needed nowadays with LCD monitors, you would be much better off SETTING your PC to turn off the display after some time and even automatically sleep as this would save power, leaving the monitor on and the COMPUTER sitting processing all the fancy graphics in your screensaver only USES up unneeded power.

If you open Computer, do you see a drive labeled RECOVERY (D:)? If so, then you can use it to restore the computer to its original configuration. The procedure is basically the same for an HP system but the F KEY may be something other than F10 or F12, which are mentioned in the article. With my old HP COMPAQ laptop, F11 was the key.

Regarding the "How to remove the horizontal line from MS Word" problem.

One Word makes this problem different for many. That word is FOOTER. When the horizontal line is in a footer it is more of a *censored*. But it can be done! Read on.

Having now spent the better part of a day (endless blog SURFING and Google queries) dealing with this problem (in MS Word 2007), I want to point out that a number of people in the replies were suffering the same problem as me - but it was NOT being solved by the solutions posted. As far as I know it has not been answered adequately on ANY of the forums. The problem was a horizontal line being automatically placed in the FOOTER section of the document.

Let me be clear - it is NOT a footnote separator issue.

It IS (ultimately ... ) a border clearing issue BUT, as was noted several times, highlighting the little one could of the line (in my case next to the page number) and then selecting "no borders" did NOT get rid of the line. BUT, it did something odd. In my case it jumped the line DOWN so it appeared BELOW (instead of above) my page number. But the *censored* line was STILL there! At this point I was pretty much ready to give up. Some people have reported that it jumped the line up. It WOULD appear that it jumps the line up and down – the important thing is that the line moves.

BECAUSE - this weird wrinkle turned out to be a blessing, BECAUSE, it meant I could now highlight the page number (now above the line), the dreaded horizontal line, AS WELL as the space BELOW the dreaded line. At this point, selecting the "no borders" option once more – finally deleted the line. FINALLY!!!!!

Repeating this once on another page SAW it disappear on every one of my 365 page footers. Allelujah.

Feel free to post this on your site as an update - it MAY save many others time and PAIN. BTW, I am not a tech or MS Word guru by any means - I just got lucky with trial and error - eventually. I hope it works for others out there.
I had the same problem with this horizontal line. It just appeared out of nowhere, when I was adding borders to a table.
I managed to remove it by selecting a small part of the line and then removing "page borders" (paragraph -> borders and shading -> page border). After doing this the line shortened a bit, and I was able to select and delete it. It was removed from all pages at the same time.
I have Word 2010.He's been gone for about 2 Years now...

Hello all, I am new here.
I got my USB Flash Drive icon to work with this code (saved as autorun.inf in the root directory):

The icon is called "happy" in the root directory. There is also another icon called "spurs" in the root directory.
How could I code it so that it alternates between the two icons as the USB flash Drive icon with each plugin/unplug?

Thank you.You would need to ADD a dismount routine that toggles ( OVERWRITES the root from a sub-directory SOURCE that has a subdirectory in it of 0 and 1 with each folder contailing the config to write to root. )

This is probably way more work than it is worth btw as for the drive is usually DISMOUNTED by using windows to disconnect the thumb drive and just yanking it out will not make this toggle function and could corrupt the drive. So you will need to write a dismount program that dismounts only this device, but before it dismounts it overwrites the root before the disconnect is established. In such a program you would also need to keep a counter file so it knows to toggle between counter value 0 and 1 and so when the counter is at 1 it set it back to 0 for the next cycle and so it remains on 0, 1, 0, 1, 0, 1 alternation etc in which = 0 is to overwrite the root with that info, and = 1 is to overwrite the root with the other info.

*Is this a high school programming project? Just sounds like something that would make for interesting project to show off in a classroom where it OTHERWISE is more work than it is worth.Thanks for replying!

Greetings - Win 7 home premium 64 bit. Just trying to install open office (DOWNLOADING from Apache open office.org) as I have on other machines in the past. After I save the file and try to install the program, I get an error window "windows cant open this file" it is evidently a .part (partial) file. Doing a web file association search reveals numerous frightening downloads that CLAIM will solve this problem. WHATS up ? After I successfully activated this MS office 2010 on Mom's PC, I had to reinstall the Lexmark inkjet printer software from its accompanying CD a couple of WEEKS ago so that her printer would be able to print out photos (incl. email attachments, etc) but right after this, Mom told me she stopped getting incoming email (this happened about a week ago).

So I sent a TEST letter from one of my gmail acc'ts to see if it would go thru to Mom's Outlook, but (just checked her PC) she never got it.

How can I troubleshoot and fix this problem so Mom can have her incoming emails back?

I know this is a software problem not a hardware problem (doing the Divide the Problem).

__________________Only snaffu I can think of is if the printer came with a mailto registration feature to register and it set your browsers mail handler to Outlook Express vs MS Outlook 2010. Check Browser properties to see if Outlook 2010 is STILL the DESIGNATED handler of eMail.Did you create the email account in Outlook? Outlook cannot receive email for an email account until the account is setup in Outlook.

I am having a morning of *censored* with Microsoft Word. It just keeps crashing whether I'm trying to save something, copy/paste something, or even type something. Ill get the infamous crash box. I removed it, and was ABLE to copy/paste without it crashing once. Is there a way I can make it work again (I CLOUD). It was working fine Word up until yesterday. Apparently Microsoft and Apple don't play well together. You might want to try Google Drive as an alternative to iCloud (that's what I use with my pc's, laptops & iPads). Solve : RAM test program?

Does anyone know of a good program to use for testing RAM memory? I usually use Memtest86+ but on my current computer the 3.5a version LOCKS up & the latest version crashes on start up. I'm also not FOND of the built in Windows program.

With this in mind, have you tried starting Memtest with only one stick in different sockets? It's entirely possible the bad RAM or socket is causing Memtest to crash. I can't see a 3.5a version on the Memtest site, I see 2.11, 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2.They don't have all the old versions published for some reason. But that's what I'm about to do.

Nope memtest still crashes on start (latest version doesn't even finish loading the program)So it crashes on startup no matter how you try it, with each stick separately in each slot?Yep and I have tested the programs on a laptop, both versions run fine.

I've just finished the Windows memory test ruling out the mobo and one RAM module.

I should probably mention that 4Gb is this computers minimum installed memory and calling a program memtest86+ does raise my suspicions a little that it can't cope with that much memory.How odd. I've used Memtest86+ on PCs with up to 96GB of RAM with no problems, it's definitely not limited to running on PCs with under 4GB of RAM. I've had it crash on some PCs but that was mainly before it was actually compatible with Sandy Bridge, so it was a beta version.
HCI Memtest can run within Windows which isn't ideal but it's still decent. You could also give the STANDARD a try if need be.Well I've just tried version 4.3.2 (could have sworn that I download V5.0) and it works fine for about 2 minutes and then resumes Windows.It shouldn't be resuming Windows as it's designed to run from a bootable CD...

Not sure how it's going into Windows directly from the bootable disk, very odd.Either the CD wasn't built correctly...or he's not booting to the CD...did you set CD Rom as 1st boot device in BIOS ? ?The program started testing the memory. I'm using a USB memory stick now as I have no rewritable CD's (it was getting expensive).

If you tell me how to upload them I can show you pictures of what happens when I run some older versions of memtest. Saying that though, now that I have jiggled my RAM about I can't find a problem with it, and I've not had the time to re-test the program since. It might be that everything was a glitch caused by wonky RAM [Technical term "Wonky RAM"].

(So this is now just a case of an irritating program that I would PREFER to work)

I currently run Outlook 2010, I have already set up an email account.

My problem is as follows;

If I open Outlook, and wait till its fully loaded,i.e. its done a full sweep and downloaded any new emails,

if I then try and send ( or even reply back to a new email, the following happens.

I see that the Archives Outbox is bold and has a figure [ 1 ] ( in green ) this stays and stays and stays even if I close Outlook down even if I reboot, it is still there.

If I try and send another one the same thing happens except the figure now changes to [ 2 ]

That was tried at 10:50 yesterday morning and its still there after I booted up this morning

Anyway, I'm wondering why you are doing current activity (new messages and replies to recent messages) in the Archives area. Do you not have an Outbox under Personal Folders, which is outside of Archives? I'll try and make it clearer for you;

I have purchased Norton antivirus but the chest not WORKING properly what to do?Uninstall and Reinstall Norton AV might fix this. Then perform DEFINITION updates. If this is the Norton that came with the system new and you have not paid for an extension to the protection through SYMANTEC, then it may have DISABLED protection, however I have only had where Norton's Definition Updates Expire and it continues to run on old definitions and reminds me over and over again to pay to update. I have since uninstalled Norton from all my systems and I run Microsoft Security Essentials which is free from microsoft. Whenever i try to run a complex program or game on my COMPUTER it will freeze then the screen goes black and then it shuts down. When i restart my computer it SAYS that: WARNING! THE CPU HAS BEEN CHANGED. I have no idea why it says this or what has happened

I used GMX together with the good old Eudora for sending out mails for years without much trouble. For three days, however, sending out mails doesn't work, the SMTP server sends this message back: 550.5.7.0 Need to authenticate via POP3 first {mp029}

Receiving mail via GMX however works.

What's to be done in ORDER to send out mails again via GMX? Thanks for letting me know your knowledge.Mine works. But if it were to fail it would not be fault of GMX. I went through this before. Let me explain.

Some ISP companies will block all SMTP except for their service. They will tell you it is for everybody's good. Yet they offer no proof that the block was needed.

You can do at least three things.
1) Just resign yourself to use only what they provide.
2) Calling the support and get the details of how to fix this.
3) GO to a service that has more respect for its customer.

Personally, I think this is abusive competition and should be punished. But I don't have the nerve to start a class action suit.
I don't think the WORST such as it's being blocked...
I suggest revisiting your POP 3 and SMTP settings...From what I've seen in other forums, many GMX users have the same trouble. No solution seems to be around.

These users unisono complain about the non-existing customer service of GMX. And: Calling GMX is not a wise idea - they charge like *censored* for their "answers" that make the problem even worse.

You say the system was working earlier?
The error message does not indicate SMTP failed, but that there was a authentication error. I believe, from past experience, the message came from your LOCAL service provider.

I get a similar error message from my service provider if I have not gotten permission from them to use lessor-known SMTP service. Also, the SMTP must use a secure protocol.

Is it able to automate the printing of PDF files using the free VERSION of Adobe Reader?I'm sure you know you're talking about two very different products. I do not believe Adobe Reader has a feature to automate the printing of PDF files.

I have a database with two columns, column A is date of clinic visit, and column B is patient name. I would LIKE to be able to calculate the average days between clinic visits per patient. Im having lots of trouble figuring this out, I would greatly appreciate if anybody could help.

This would work if a column only had one patient in it. But, that's not the case here, so it won't work. In other words, with reference to the sample data in the original post, calculating the difference between lines 3 and 4 would be a number days between two appointment dates but for two different patients. Clearly, that's not the DESIRED result.

So, the solution will be something more complicated than what you've suggested, oldun. I can't take time now to try to come up with a solution; not sure I could anyway. But, I think this may be a case where an Access database would be more suitable for this type of data analysis.

Solve : Need help making audio cd?

I thought I just had to convert MP3s to WAV and then select create NEW audio cd, but everytime I do (on multiple burning programs it tells me) that there is no R-RW disk in the drive, or that the disk is full (when it's not) I've even tried to erase the disks and I get a message saying 'cannot erase disk, the disk is full'
I'm using all purpose RW disks (at least that's what it says on the case) with 4.7gb space.

Did you use the Windows find/search facility? The Normal.dot file will be stored somewhere under your profile, but you'll need to ENSURE that you're looking in hidden files and folders, because the "Application data" folder under your profile is hidden. On WinXP, the folder is usually at (e.g.) C:\Documents and Settings\Rob\Application Data\Microsoft\Templateswell, i finally found the files and deleted them. I repaired/reloaded the software and the problem still exists. I am so confused as to what is causing this? HELP!!! - Well I got it to work... thanks all for the guidance, it took a little more tricks to make it work and I'll share them for the benifit of everyone...
Note - I failed to find the files the first time because I failed to search the hidden fies
I also went to the Microsoft website and uploaded the service pak for XP and any other upgrades and that did not help.
Also adding to the frustration was that even with the normal.dot file deleted off my computer when I tried to open a file on the computer I have networked it still did not work...copying the file from the "good" system also did not work.
THE SOLUTION:
on the Microsoft site - under assistance - I discovered that I could start Word from the run menu and use a "switch" to disable it from starting up with the normal.dot file that was missing the menu bar. So I used a command under the run option of programs/office/winword.exe /a ... the "/a" was the key - this promptedme to open a new file which I did from the Office Software manual using the normal.dot file ... the next step was to save as "template" - I did this and hooray I'm back in business

Hey, in Office I keep the "Recently Used File" list set to ZERO... Lots of people use these machines, and it doesn't do for folks to be following what other people have been reading/writing/etc.

Is there a way to do that in Acrobat Reader? I'm using v 7.0.7, and I can't find any documentation anywhere that will let me change it... I'm sure there's a regedit hack, but man I don't want to go in blind.

I don't know how to MAKE Reader SHOW no recently used files but you can cut it down to 1. Go to Edit, Preferences, and select Startup on left side of panel. Under Opening Documents, you can set "Maximum doucments in most-recently used list:". You can not set the value to 0; the lowest value it will accept is 1.

So, yeah, looks like a registry change may be the solution. I don't know where to find the applicable registry entry.

And, by the way, CCleaner will remove any items from the most recently used files list but, as you said, it must be run to remove them.

Solve : Notebook shuts off during virus scan?

Every time I try to run virus scan notebook shuts off. This happened with AOL's Safety and Security Center with built-in McAfee; Norton AV and now with MSN with McAfee. Today I sat at desk to see at what point this occurred and it was during scan of WINDOWS\DRIVER CACHE\i386\driver.cab where it seemed to stop. I had noted this previously when running Norton AV. Geek Squad at Best Buy thought it could be a power supply problem, but this only happens when running anti-virus, spybot, etc. I went as far as formatting HD and reinstalling with original CD and this is still happening. I checked the file (DRIVER CACHE) and the information in there refers to the Atheros WIRELESS NETWORK Adapter installed in the notebook. I went to their website but did not find any information for any driver updating necessary for this component. Has anyone had this problem with their computer and, if so, were you able to fix the problem ( and how)? Any help WOULD be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to email me directly.
Funny thing... My neighbor recently had the exact same issue! His was due to an overheating issue. For some reason, his file in i386 GOT corrupted, and when the computer would hit it with a virus scanner, the computer would restart... What you need to do is find a way to get some air flowing in there... Better than what you have now obviously... It sounds crazy, but, he opened-up his laptop, got his vacume cleaner, put it on reverse mode (PUSHES air out) and put the vacume hose inside the computer to keep the air flowing... This gave him time to then repair the i386 file, and his computer works fine today lol

I RECENTLY purchased a dell pc, with windows xp as the os. the login screen displays the name helen (who is the previous owner) when i came to put it on the internet it said i needed to be an administrator, going into user accounts there is only 1 account and that is helens, you do not have the option to add an account or anything. booting up in safe mode also only allows you to log in as helen. If you go into computer management in users ect there is another user listed who is an administrtor and also the administrator account, but i am unable to gain access to either of these accounts, does ANYBODY know what else i can try as i have never had this problem before.

Why not do a fresh install?I dont really want to do a fresh install i have got helens password and the admin password she has for it but with no admin account to use a password on it isnt much use at all lol. dl65 Nope there are no options available only to create a password for helen, the computer was not helens to begin with she got it from someone else, so i am a bit stuck lol as i am not sure if an administrator could now be created or recovered. I seem to recall you can access system restore from a boot up disk, but having never had to do that im not 100% sure on that either.

In excel, what is the difference between =number and number (example. =1 and 1) in the formula bar? They seem to be the same.......... :-?I'm pretty SURE = is used if you are doing an arithmatic equation. Addition and what have you.

FlameFlame is right. You can simply enter numbers in cells and that requires no = sign. But, if you want to enter an equation or formula, then, where a number is the first member of the equation or formula, it must be preceded by the = sign. Oh good I was right lol That computer apps class came in handy lol

i have reasontly borrowed the game quake 2 from a friend and it has done somthing to directX, i have since learnt that quake was notoriously bad for these sorts of things and computers in general. now some other programs wont REGISTER i have the correct directX.

so then i went into safe mode cuz it still wont boot and used system restore to go back to when it was working. then when it booted up again and i got the "your system has recovered from a serious error" so i sent the error report. the microsoft website said that some component of roxio was to blame so i downloaded and installed the update that was supposed to fix this. guess what? it didn't fix it and i got the "blue screen of death" again so then i went into safe mode and uninstalled roxio then i booted up again and it was fine. then later i decided that a reinstall of roxio shud stop it frum doing that so i installed it again. once again, "blue screen of death" so i went into safe mode and uninstalled it again.

so anyone got any suggestions?

oh also i dont think its a virus i hv norton 06 and ad aware and whn i got the "blue screen of death" for the first time i downloaded like 5 trials of diff antivirus progs and scanned and they didnt find anythingI believe there are known issues running both Nero and Roxio on the same computer... at least there were with some older versions.. as I now have them both too... I believe it was Roxio 7 something. Try removing Nero and roxio.. then install roxio first.i can't uninstall nero cause i don't have a CD for it because some ppl at a computer store installed it when they installed windows for mewell.. you could always ask for a copy... since they were so kind to offer it before.. I've never seen any issues between Nero and Roxio but I have seen issues with Roxio and XP or InCD and XP or Roxio and InCD.
Most of issues are cured by disabling the XP CD burning service, uninstalling InCD and ensuring that Roxio is fully patched.oh ya i also have inCD but where did i get it thats odd?well i can't really patch it cus i get the blue screen of death when i rebootInCD is the PACKET writing application for Nero. Famous last words. It works great on everything EXCEPT burning? If it gets regular use (and it sounds like it does!) and is over a YEAR old it would be high on my list for hardware failure. The software CONFLICTS MAKE it more difficult to diagnose, though.

but yea im running XPIf your command prompt is logged into the c: drive either you're seeing your default directory or the label on your c: drive. If it's your default directory, use the REN command to change it. Make sure you're at the root level (c:\ when you do). If it's the label on your c: drive, use LABEL command to change it.

You can also use "My Computer" (Windows Explorer) for both these tasks.

About a year ago I had a freeware program called Handy Notes. It was great. I could easily access it and could any notes or numbers in order and pull them up very quickly. I had to switch computers and now I can find Handy Notes but I can't seem to get it installed. It there a program out there very similar to it. It was great for phone numbers, SSN's, web site user name and passwords, etc.. I really need a program like this. Any suggestions?

What else happened when this quit working?I assume it was originally uninstalled properly since it was done by a computer tech that was highly recommended. A little BACKGROUND, my hubby passed away and I returned my son's to him and took over my hubby's PC. he computer tech was supposed to restore hubby's to original or wipe it clean but I don't think the tech actually removed any programs. He then put on the programs that I wanted on there. He made a CD with handy notes & incredimail so he could put it on my hubby's PC which I was now going to use. Neither worked. I had to download IncrediMail again and I have not been able to download handy notes since. The tech told me that my hubby didn't have the disc to wipe everything clean so he had to do it manually. There are some things that still come up under rons documents but they are things I use. Am I totally messed up? I have to leave for about 2 HOURS or so but will be back soon & anxiously await any suggestions you have. Thanks a bunch! So it sounds like there were other problems as well. I wish you had a knowledgable person nearby who could a) Restore things to a working state, and b) save all necessary data, if any when doing that.

There are obviously things wrong with Windows in that system that a good reformat and reinstall could fix.

Well the tech was supposed to be the best in his testing and he didn't even go to school. I'm using the IF formula in Excel, and I want to make the cell blank if the statement is false. How do I do that?

The formula =IF(logical EXPRESSION, 1, "") doesn't WORK, because if you check to see if the cell is blank using the ISBLANK function, it comes up FALSE (meaning the cell is NOT blank). Go ahead, try it. It doesn't make sense.

So, what do I do? I've tried replacing "" with NULL, BLANK, EMPTY, etc. with no luck. Does anyone know how to do this?

That is ONLY because of the way the formatting is set up for that cell. Have you tried my above suggestion?Normally, I don't delv into such topics as many things are truely to variable in software of this size. However, I have a bad habit of reaching out and slapping those that go "Duh! You can't do this because of this!" without taking a second to think, or show reason why.

First of all... Because a cell contains a formula, does not mean that it cannot be COUNTED as blank. You can in fact create a worksheet, add a text value to certain cells between A2 and B5, leaving some blank and one with a formula in it (ie: =IF(B4<30,"",B4)), and get the end results using =COUNTBLANK(A2:B5). The result of this would CONCLUDE in the sum of blank cells including the cell with a solution inside, but no set value.

=COUNTBLANK(?:?) will indeed count all blank cells, and cell with "" value, but not cells with "0" value.
=ISBLANK(?) checks to see if a cell is "empty". Empty and Blank are not the same thing.


Now, if I understand your question properly. What you are trying to do is validate a field and based on the validity, judge whether the cell should be blank or not. (ie: FALSE = "", and "" counting as a blank cell").

What I don't understand is what your doing with the results. Whether your just trying to validate, count, sort, etc... Also, while I'm typing this, I should ask if you've tried what I call "outside solutions? Devoting a page of your worksheet to remote solutions/cells?

Allow me more information, and I'll have your problem solved. This all of course is based on the assumption that you have Office '03, since you haven't stated otherwise.

Do you mean visually? There is a way to turn a feature on/off in Excel, that when a cell contains "", it will visually show a "0". By default, I believe this is off, but he could have it on and be referring to that. On the otherhand, he could simply mean that in the background for things like ISBLANK, it reads the clear cell as a "0". If that is the case, it's possible to use another formula that looks for blank and not empty.

For the sake of arguement, it cannot be assumed that the original poster even knows that in Excel, blank and empty are very different. They are read differently, and most of the time there is an equivelant solution for each to conclude in a like result of their own meaning.

As I mentioned in my original post, I don't normally reply to software problems of this nature. Because normally someone, like you, will feel offended or feel the need to defend themselves in an imaginary arguement. I am not now, nor do I wish to argue with anyone. I am simply stating options, and seeking more detailed feedback to further help the original poster.

A *censored* WINDOWS PISSES ME OFF ! THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I WRITE THIS POST ! So:

This could be a solution:
Check the directory C:\Documents and Settings\[Your USERNAME]\Desktop\... and c if the FILES u r, looking 4 r in there. I they r then stupid Windows moved ur System Folder: "Desktop", to another location :EXCLAMATION . To undo this use Tweak XP (I think and Tweak UI and Co. would also do it ) and change the system Folder : "Desktop" back 2 C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\Desktop\... .

I hope this helps, cause' my friend also had the same problem, but he reinstalled Windows before I had a solution 2 the problem.
/meWhen I first had this problem going to my desktop through my computer, C:, documents and settings, user name, desktop. Nothing was there, I did this before RUNNING system restore. After I did the system restore I got the same thing as on the direct desktop i had folders but no files inside them.
Someone else suggested I use Tweak UI but they weren't sure if it would work because I went staight to system restore. Where can I get Tweak UI and how do I run it?

I bought a philips PSC805 external usb2 soundcard and I already regret it . I have a USB2 tv tuner and the only way to hear it is to to use the line in connection of the sundcard .. but ... You can only RECORD the line in without hearing it ... or monitor it (it is sent straight to the FRONT 2 speakers). So there is no way to hear it from all 6 channels. Only philips can do something like this So I was WONDERING is there any software that can capture the line in SOUND and send it back to the soundcard. That way if the card receives it through the directx it will upconvert it to 5.1 and it will work fine. But I have not found anything like this .... I'll appreciate any help.

I recently upgraded my outlook express with outlook 2002. I run my computer and laptop with linkysys wireless router. My FIRST question is how do I go about receiving mail automatically with outlook? When I open outlook now the only way I can see new messages coming in is through the tools send and receive all. Nothing gets to me automatically like with OE. My second question is is there a way to synchronize outlook without a third party software to send and receive the same emails on both machines? I understand while using OE I left my messages on the server which is ok but I'm hoping for something better.

Click Tools - Send / Recieve - Send/Recieve Settings (at the bottom of the drop-down list) then click on Define Send/Recieve Groups
Make sure "Schedule an automatic send/receive every _ minute is checked,
click on the up-down to the right of the number to change how often Outlook checks.
If you wish the same email to be available on both accounts, you really need to use IMAP to access your email rather than POP. Check with your ISP whether they PROVIDE an IMAP SERVICE. We can talk you through setting it up.

Howdy! I went to my control panel to look at the add and REMOVE programs section and noticed that I have TWO VERSIONS installed on my computer of Microsoft Office Professional XP.


One has Front Page.

Both are rarely USED and I clicked on a box that told me that both are not running well.

Can I delete one? I inherited this computer, pretty sure that things were loaded illegally or copied. What are some good next steps? This puppy sometimes runs way slow too. Mostly use it for internet use...getting dsl in near future.I'd delete them both and use OpenOffice which is free.

Sometimes you have to have the CD to uninstall things, and it seems like Office (at least the earlier one's) required this.

Solve : trend micro antivirus issues?

today i bought and installed trend micro PC-cillin antivirus. shortly thereafter my computer got really bogged down and everything took a really really really long time to respond. i pulled up the process manager and it showed 100% of the processor being used. it kept using 100% for a few minutes. i even had to do a forced shutdown because nothing was doing anything. then i ran safe mode and tried to uninstall but i couldnt because i was in safe mode. i ran autoruns and DELETED the registry keys for running the program on startup. then i started normal and everything ran fine except i still cant uninstall. it says "it says this action is only valid for products that are surrently installed." i am running xp with a p4 2.66ghz and 768mb ram.Are you using Windows XP? TRY doing a system resatoration to a time before you installed the software.

FlameYep.. a lot of Anti-virus programs want to lock down your HARD drive for safe KEEPING... And if you have more than one Anti-virus program installed they will tend to FIGHT with each other until you disable one of them. But now that you've gotten it disabled at startup you might try the disc again to see if it will uninstall for you. If not, try running ccleaner... it's been mentioned several times in other posts.What process was using the processor slices?thanks guys but i got it.How did you fix the issue?

I was typing a fairly long LETTER in Outlook when the power went out -- and I think you know the rest of the story.

I don't see any kind of auto save features in OE, but I just thought I'd check if there is any hope of me being able to recover it, or is the letter gone? (I did not save it at all... was just typing away for over 30 mins.)

(And yes, in the future all long letters will now be typed in Word!)

Outlook doesn't auto save, sorry. Outlook DOES auto-save, to the drafts folder. Check there first.That's news to me Rob, do you know where the settings are for it?
ie: Save every 5 mins kind of stuff?I'm sorry - I don't use Outllok Express (ack phht); I imagine that kind of setting if it exists is buried somewhere in the registry. I've never particularly investigated, but in my use of Outlook (which has a very similar auto-save to drafts FEATURE) I get the impression that the draft is continually saved as you go along. So if you crash, the email should be fully intact up to the point where you were when the crash occurred.

Again, there's no setting, whether obscure or not, for auto save in OE. The Drafts folder can be used to save a message that you've started but want to finish later. If you have a partially composed message or a completed message that you want to send later, click on File, Save, and the message will be saved in the Drafts folder. If you're copying the message from Word to OE after you type it, you might want to try just executing the Send via Word. To do that, select File, Send To, Mail Recipient, and go from there.

Yeah, I agree. However, I've been using OE for YEARS and haven't had problems using it. However, I now use Outlook for an email account related to a website I maintain, and use OE for personal email. I may eventually transition all email over to Outlook.

Since I have a UPS for my computer, I'm not worried about the power outage, such as the person who started this topic experienced.
My OE works fine, I don't use it. LOL!
