Answer» I had Free Download Manager on my old computer (Windows XP Pro, 32 bit) and it automatically popped up whenever I wanted to download something. This worked out fine because I could schedule a big download between 2:00-6:00AM so that I wouldn't use up my 200MB quota for a 24 hour period and end up with no internet service from Hughes until I'd paid the TIME penalty. I now have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Recently I download the Free Download Manager and can't seem to figure out how to get it to load automatically whenever I WANT to do a download. I can't figure out how to use it at all. Is there someone out there who is familiar with the settings for Download Manager who could explain to me how to do what I'd like it to do? I've gone through the settings and can't seem to FIND just what it is that will do the trick. Thank you

It's not in C:\Windows. You need to search your whole C: drive or you can use Outlook itself to tell you the exact path of your PST file. Have you set Explorer to show file extensions?

Have now shown file extensions but none of the Outlook files at C:\Documents & Settings\ ...\ Outlook is a .pst file.

The Admin was set up as the computer administrator, so that no one could LOAD unauthorized programs. The individual users were set up with limited. Answer» HELLO, I was given a Dell GX260 with the Dell installation disc from my job. I completely reinstall win XP Pro/ SP 2 with all the update available. Now my question is, when I click on start, the name on top of the menu is ADMINISTRATOR. Tried all I know to change it but to no avail. Start/ Control Panel/ USER accounts/ the CLICKED on the administrator, but there are no options to change the name. Can this be done and if so how? Not sure what firmware is, but I can look into the update QUESTION....Firmware is basically the software that makes the modem work.
It is for the modem what Windows is for your computer.There is no firmware update for the speedstream....

My problem is: I have reinstalled recentley my outlook 2003 and as USUAL i have a shortcut BUTON in the quicklaunch barr. Befor reinstalling it when i pressed the shortcut i opened outlook and if i pressed it again i just got the same instance of outlook brought to front of the screen. Now when i press the same buton i open a new instance of outlook. Is there any way that i set outlook not to open multiple instances? Answer» I recently built my new RIG and realized that the nVidia Control Panel isn't what it should be. I should be able to make adjustments to components and overclocking settings according to the nvidia website. I have all the latest drivers for all my components. My board, CPU, and GPU are all definitly ESA-certified. I've EVEN downloaded the sofware from the site and it's a newer version, but it still doesnt have the component monitoring. Maybe my BIOS doesnt support it, but on a 780i? Come on. Any HELP or some guidance is appreciated. Then I went to open ntune and got another BSOD.weird... not once did i bsod and those other programs(from what i hear) are also fine.

When I downloaded the same file on my Windows Vista Home Premium, I opened Windows Media Player and was only able to hear the sound (no video). Answer» Hello! New to this forum. Sorry if this is in the wrong folder, subfolder, etc. (but I don't think it is). I work in the Electrical Contracting industry and was wondering if there is a program/app out there that will create documents (Word .doc's, SPECIFICALLY) by simply selecting a few choices from drop-down menus and miscellaneous TEXT additions. Specifically, for proposals/bids/quotes. If I were to bid on an upcoming project, all I would have to do is open the program, select the client, select the specific contact information at that particular client's location, input the total dollar amount, the project title and location, and maybe a couple additional varying details that I could manually input regarding what the bid is based on, and from there would create a Word document (our proposal) that would be in the form of a formal business letter, complete with our official letterhead, that we could then print out, fax to that client, and file in our system. For example, you could choose the client name, location, and contact INFO from a drop-down menu. Then you could manually input the job title, location, dollar amount quote, specifications, etc. in location-specific "text boxes" on the page. This might take some time to set up in the beginning, but would eventually save us a HUGE amount of time in the end! Right now, we go open up old documents, change all the specific info manually, and save as under the new name...every time! A huge time-consumer. We usually deal with the same large amount of clients in our area that it would seem ideal to utilize some sort of program like this. I've heard about MS ACCESS and some others, but I'm honestly not very familiar with them. Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for your responses! Much appreciated! D.

Whenever I OPEN Outlook 2002 on this laptop I GET a message - "A program is trying to ACCESS e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this? Underneath are the OPTIONS to allow access for x minutes, and to choose YES, No, or Help" If I choose allow access for 1 minute the same message returns and I repeat allow access for 1 minute and it goes away. Answer» Is there any software available to enable a device which runs of off Windows 3.1 to upgrade to XP? I have a SCANNER with a lighted lid that will scan up to legal size transparencies, but the computer it is hooked up to is a 1995 model with 3.1. There is no MODEM or USB port on this computer, so the only way I can use the scanner and export the images is to use floppies. This does not always work as some scans have more INFO than a floppy can hold and using multiple floppies is a pain. I tried plugging the scanner in to my newer computer and it was a no go as the scanner was MADE to run off of Win 3.1. The scanner company said they did not know of any way to make it work with a newer version of windows. I thought that I had seen on the internet a site with software that will let 3.1 devices talk to newer versions. Can anyone help me? Thanks. Can you give us the make and model of your scanner? How old is it? Does it connect to a parallel port on the computer? I think some of us would like to confirm that the manufacturer has no driver for that scanner for any version of Windows newer than 3.1. Scanner is an Envisions NV 6100, which was a re-branded U-Max. PS if u've installed the theme thingy I'm using the 'Invader' theme Modifying that bar should be a FUNCTION of the program your RUNNING itself...not the theme.
I think your barking up the wrong tree...Some themes LIKE that change the appearance of your OS. Unless you've never had this problem before, I believe it comes with the theme like Patio said.Yea i know it's from the program.

But how did they get it there in the first place. Because they must be a way of removing it, right.It's pretty complicating how they make custom themes but it's like creating a new program.

You will have to check the settings of the theme itself, maybe consult the manufacturers website.I wrote 'how did they get it there in the first place'

And there's no way on the program of removing the buttons. It's not from the Theme...it's from the program.

It keeps telling me "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a required codec is not installed on your computer". Answer» I write snail mail letters with Word 97. (My OS is Win98SE) I also often make my own stationery to do that LETTER WRITING on W/97 as well. When writing, I like to insert free clipart/icons that I have downloaded to my PC in my letters as I go along (to help with creating expression to my words for the snail mail reader). I have noticed that some downloaded images have transparent backgrounds that print fine from W/97 after insertion into a document. Some, however, don't. They will show either an undesirable white or colored bg that especially doesn't go well on patterned stationery I've created with other gifs. or jpgs. into document files in Word/97. I know Word/97 does not have the capability to make transparent gifs. I downloaded the freeware "Ultimate PAINT" software IMAGE editing program in an attempt to take the images that wouldn't print well and make their bg's transparent. Following the instructions for making transparency and saving as a gif. or png. works fine with web documents, but still doesn't print with no bg in W/97. Since some downloaded clipart images do print fine, I'm trying to find out what is the difference between those and the ones that show a bg even after using an image editing program like UP to make them transparent? And, what I need to do with the ones that show the bg to make them like the ones that print with transparent bg's. TIA for any help!

FIRST post for me, hopefully U guys can help me !!

I have a workbook in Excel 2000 which has multiple worksheets in it, some of which need to be grouped. I know how to group the RELEVANT worksheets together but when I click to work on another worksheet it ungroups the others which I don't want it to do. Is there anyway of "locking" the grouped sheets together so they are permanently grouped? Maybe with a PASSWORD protection to ungroup?

Hope this all makes sense, any help would be appreciated !!

I'm using Excel 2003. I've searched through the Help FILES and see no way of "locking" the grouped sheets together so they are permanently grouped.ok soybean thanks, had a horrible feeling that would be the case !!

I am looking for someone to help me with an EXCEL workbook we use which was WRITTEN by a member back in 04' He is no longer with the club and we would like to expand it's capabilities to generate end of the year reports. And, we would like to have the format expanded to use for 3-man events and 4-man events. The book is the basis of calculating Gross/Net Skins, Identifying Gross/Net team ranking, and it functions to create team calculations using a RANDOM draw format. I would like help to understand how the functions have been created and help creating a YTD summery. I have LIMITED experience with Excel and understand most functions within the program when they are explained. Well, you're talking about something that would track all keystrokes by a user, whether in Excel or any other application; in other words, a key logger. And, that does not save the tracking info in the Excel file, which is what andycov wants to do.thanks again soybean, will take a look

6695.	Solve : Quicktime problems...?
Answer» SERIOUSLY, I challenge you to figure this one out. This is the third WEBSITE I've been to and no one has got a clue what's wrong, let ALONE how to fix it. To put it simply, my quicktime is BROKEN. "Stuck" so to speak. I cannot use quicktime, or Itunes, without getting an illegal operation warning and it closing before it even opens. I cannot install quicktime. Mid-way thru it encountersan error. I have tried several different versions of quicktime. But yet, the same issue during installation. I cannot un-install quicktime. It encounters an error very similar to when attempting to install. I cannot run any quicktime files. This is VERY annoying, as many web pages, often ones I'm interested in, have quicktime. As soon as a quicktime file is loaded in FIREFOX (or IE) it tells me the plugin has preformed an illegal operation and I'm strongly advised to close firefox. Upon clicking "ok" firefox locks up, and crashes. No other programs have this problem, and I've swept my computer for viruses several times, with several different programs. I am running Windows XP, and this problem has not always existed, as I used to run both quicktime an Itunes.Anyone?

Answer» Hello there, wondering if someone might be able to HELP... I'm an editor for a small publishing company, and so I quite often use the track changes function on MS Word (2002, running on Windows XP) to send my edits back to authors and translators, and have it available as a button in my taskbar. However I also deal with our publishing contracts, and it came to my attention from a COLLEAGUE that whenever I FORWARD him a Word doc from my machine - even when I haven't enabled track changes on that particular document - he can see all the edits I have made. I can't see any of these edits on my machine, and obviously with contracts it's not very secure if the edits appear on the recipient's Word and not mine... It doesn't happen with every recipient's version of Word, just this one colleague (that I know of!) Any ideas how I can correct this? Thanks in advance!!Have you thought about upgrading to Word 2003 or 2007? Check your track changes settings and general Word settings. If everything looks normal, you could pop in your Office 2002 CD and have it do a repair installation.

Answer» Does anyone know of a good PIECE of software that will allow for you to make a backup copy of a Copyright Movie DVD. Most copyright software for example allows for a SINGLE Backup Copy to be made. "This is not to pirate movies!!!" ( Only Single Backup / Disposable Play Copy Purposes ) My 3 year old daughter keeps killing her DVD's by snapping and scratching them etc, and I figured that if I could dupe them, and give her the copies to play and keep the masters safe, I will save myself about $40 to 75 a month in movie replacements. A couple of her no-name low budget DVDs will dupe, so I am all set there, but the higher end movies, that she plays more frequently, have protection that keeps me from duping with my computers DVD-RW drive. Been tempted to buy a $25 video capture card and play from one PC into another to dupe video and sound to create the backup DVD play copies. Maybe this is my only alternative to make a disposable ( single ) play copy for her each time she needs one, unless the video capture cards have the anti-piracy chip that will black out the video like VHS players etc. Any suggestions other than to keep the DVD's out of her reach which is impossible for a determined 3 year old, that wants to do everything on her own! :-) Thankshttp://www.dvdshrink.org/ this is the program i use. it rips and SHRINKS movies so you can copy them onto 4.7Gb blank DVD's.Interesting Homer. Answer» i was wondering if any one had a better idea of what to do. I use my U3 drive for school work and home use. I have Microsoft works WORD processor. The school has Microsoft word. When i save a file in Microsoft works and i try to open it at school it won't. I have to COPY and paste it in either wordpad or notepad on my home computer in order to get it to open on the school's computer.I have Microsoft windows XP Media Center and the school has Microsoft windows professional 2000 i believe. But what version of Works ? ? Have you tried saving the Works docs as Word files ? ?I'm not to sure what version. How do you save them as word files? In the Save as window there should be a drop down list with a few choices...
