I want to customize outlook. There is an Icon at the TOP right hand side just above where itsays messages,that says customize outlook today.When I click on it nothing happens

BumpyneckI don't have Outlook 2000 but, based on my EXPERIENCE with different versions of Office, that Icon seems unusual. Anyway, try right clicking on a blank part of your Outlook toolbar AREA and SELECTING Customize.

I Was Trying To Fix My Sound On Windows 98 And Somehow Messed Up My Computer.?
My computer turns on and shows the windows 98 startup SCREEN but when it tries to open wins 98 it says there is a problem with explorer file and won't do anything else. I BOUGHT this computer used with no backup disk or wins 98 disk, so I'm not sure what I can do. Any suggestions?

I've noticed that my COMPUTER hasn't been getting updates regularly. When the computer first starts up, the Windows Update icon (the yellow one with the black exclamation point) shows up on the taskbar. No matter how long it's on there for, the download is always at 0%. This happens everytime my computer is first started up.

I know that my computer is set up for automatic updates.

I tried to go to the Microsoft website myself to get updates, but it says I don't have Active X controls (which I don't know if I have or not) when I go to the update pages. There is also supposed to be an option for downloading pop up, but nothing does. This is what it says when I go to the page for Microsoft updates.

When I go to the page for Windows updates ( http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ ), it never loads. It's just a big, blank white page. So I can't get updates that way either.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?DazzleKitty,

I have gone to the site, there is something definetly wrong with this page, if I were you I would do a search for MS updates and select another site of which there should be many.

I know the blank page is a problem that many people have. I actually just updated to IE 7 last night, and when I go to the updates page, it's a different link. It still says I need ActiveX controls to view that site. Do you guys know where I can get ActiveX?

I have been able to get updates regulary for a long time. But something odd happened last night. A while after I posted the message, my computer got 2 new updates. So apparently, the automatic updates must be working right (even if the download is always at 0%), but I can't go to the website to download the updates.

I have Windows XP, and I think I have the Service Pack 2. I have Norton and Windows Defender for anitvirus and spyware. I also SCAN often with Spybot and Adaware. I'm very certain I have no viruses or spyware.

Do you guys think this is a serious problem? I'm always overly paranoid when I have computer issues like this. Please enlighten me!

I'm looking to run / do some sort of time analysis of how much time I spend on certain Clients / categories / Projects WITHIN MS Outlook.

I'm currently running MS Outlook 2003 on exchange 2000, with Win XP operating sys.

My only method so far is to colour code items with my callendar and them manually CALCULATE how much time is being spent.

Does ANYBODY know if there is a faster & easier method? :-?

I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.10. For most sites, Firefox remembers passwords if I told it to do so. My Earthlink WebMail account is one of the sites for which I had used that feature and it consistently worked right until I CHANGED passwords. Now, Firefox will not remember that username and password. I went into Tools, Options, Privacy, View Saved Passwords, found the Earthlink WebMail account and removed it. I then opened Firefox, went to the URL for WebMail, and entered the username and password. Firefox asked me whether I want it to remember the password. I clicked Remember. But, the boxes for username and password continue to be blank when I go to the logon page.

Any suggestions from you Firefox users?How odd.

I want to be able to install Outlook, or another email software if appropriate, on an external hard DISK that i can then transport with me to other computers and STILL be able to use the email software without having to set it up again. I have tried with Outlook, the bat, etc and found that when I hook up to another computer, the software either does not work, or starts without any of the previous account settings and emails. Does anyone know if this is possible to achieve, or am i wasting my time? Thanks.I don't know of any way to install on an external drive.

You don't say who your ISP is. You should be able to use webmail (AOL / Juno / etc) and get your mail from any computer anywhere.

I recently upgraded to Windows XP. I had a free version of Ares previous to that, but when I went to install it again I had to pay for it (which I did). Since downloading the new Ares Ultra it will not connect. (Before this, I have never had a problem with Ares and have really enjoyed the program) I'm having no problems with any other program on my computer except Ares Ultra. I emailed them for help and they TOLD me to allow an exception in my firewall. tried that, didn't work. I went a step beyond and disabled my firewall as well as Norton. Still didn't work. I sent them another email and have yet to get a reply. I went the honest route and paid for the program, have I been swindled by paying for something I'll never actually get or do I have a legitimate problem? the program might not have any spyware itself but the stuff you download might contain the infection. also if you do DL illegally then i would scan the files before you open them.

I have an SVG file that I want to put into a Word document. It's a recreated signature image.

I've installed the Adobe SVG viewer, and I've been trying to insert the file as an object. It tells me that:

"This object was created in Adobe. This application is not available to open this object. Make sure the application is properlly installed and has not been deleted, moved or renamed."

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the viewer twice. Oh, and I have WINDOWS XP Home, Office 2003.

How do I get this to cooperate?Could you convert the SVG file to a JPG or GIF file for use in Word?I could, but the whole point was to get a scaleable image into Word. I was trying to create a signature graphic that would print almost as SMOOTHLY as a regular font character.

Edit: Hmm, interesting. I opened the SVG file with my browser, and copied and pasted 'Special' as a bitmap into Word. Open Outlook.
Open the Inbox.
From the Edit menu choose select all and then right click the highlight area,choose add to address BOOK.
You should then have all the addresses from your Inbox in your address book.
You can then select to Export that list.
You might want to create a temporary address book for this project that you can refer to later....

So when you save a file and try to open it, it opens with paint?
If that's the case, right CLICK on the file you SAVED and go to properties. Then follow the instructions in the picture below, much easier.

I have a HP all in one printer that is attached to my main computer and I have been sharing it on my laptop. Both have WinXP Home. The printer was working on both computers fine until last week and it quit working on the SHARED laptop. I get the following errors:"Printing failed when starting the DOCUMENT". And when I try to GO to the printer properties I get the following "printer properties cannot be DISPLAYED. the print spooler service is not running". The printer is working fine on my main machine. Trying to get files via mIRC seems to stop because ports 4000-4010 are not open as they say...

The best way to do this is use a clean formatted USB stik and the Free Media Creator Tool at the MS site...Other option available also, using the same tool that Patio stated, is to burn a bootable Windows 10 disc if you don't have a USB stick large ENOUGH available. And install off of that DVD-R if this is an installation your trying to accomplish. Title pretty much says it all, I tried to play a Blu-ray film today. Received an error message from VLC stating a lack of AACS libraries and Windows media player just says that the FORMAT is not supported.

I'm sure that I used to be able to play Blu-ray films on this PC but it's been so long since I last tried that I couldn't tell you what might have changed.

You might try other media players just as a diagnostic.

Turn of yu AV program and try getting a new download of some other media player.
That might not work, but is a step is the right direction,.

Does that apply to your problem?I'll bet a pint it's the player...they aren't built real well anymore...1 1/2 - 2 year lifespan can be expected...VLC doesn't have Blu-Ray playback capability out of the box. Perhaps previously you installed it but in the meantime you refreshed or Reinstalled windows or SOMETHING?

In order to play Blu-Ray in VLC you have to have the AACS libraries installed. Now, this is where things get tricky, because as far as I can tell, the website for it is currently down. That's a BIT of a trouble spot!

I have it installed right now though and it largely involves two files; libaacs.dll for VLC itself, and KEYDB.CFG which contains encryption keys for playing most commercial Blu-Ray discs. I've put those into a zip file. I only have the 64-bit version of the dll though- so this only will work with the 64-bit VLC.

libaacs.dll goes into the VLC Folder itself. In my case it's under C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC

KEYDB.CFG goes in C:\ProgramData\aacs

This doesn't give unfettered playback though. I've found a number of Blu-Rays, both movies and TV Show sets, simply don't work; This is because the encryption keys for those discs aren't in the database. I've ALSO found a few that play fine but the menus for the disc don't work and I have to use "No Disc Menus" or it get's stuck.

As it turns out all of the above is true. The licences have been uninstalled and the drive itself has had it.

It won't read DVD's, Blu-rays have SLOW read times but I think it still does CD's :p

First thing is, I am still USING Excel 97. Have had no reason to upgrade.
The following formula is in cell H9 and works fine. If cell F7 is "", nothing shows up in cell H9.
Which is exactly what I want. If cell F7<>"", then a result is displayed in cell H9.

=IF(F7<>"",(SUM(H7:H8)+D12),D12)

The problem is when I apply conditional formatting to cell H9 to change the cell color, cell
H9 displays a result even when cell F7="".

Questions:
1. Why is nothing displayed in cell H9 when just using the above formula?
This is not a problem because I don't want anything to be displayed until
cell F7 has something entered into it.

2. Why after applying conditional formatting a result in cell H9 is displayed, even when
cell F7=""?

What can I do so cell H9 does not display a result after applying conditional formatting?
That is until cell F7 contains a entry.

I was thinking that using a Visual Basic macro to scan the sheet every time the Enter key
was pressed, might do the trick. But I don't want to use a macro unless I have to.

I guess that I should add that the cell H9 color is changed based UPON its own value.
color "orange" if the sum is between 1 and 50.
color "YELLOW" if the sum is <1.

Cell H9 has a initial background color but I don't think that matters concerning the problem.

In reading some way back posts, it seems if I use Formula instead of Cell Value in the conditional
formatting, that it might work. That is that cell H9 does not display anything until F7 has a entry,
either text or a number.I just tried using Formula in conditional formatting with the same result.
Once the formatting is applied, cell contents in H9 are displayed even
with F7 being a open string. So I am still at a loss. Can anyone help?oldest I can go at the moment is Excel 2000, I created a test spreadsheet

1. Put formula in both H9 and I9
2. placed values in H7 and H8 (19 and 12 respectively)
3. Applied conditional formatting to H9.

(I've also left D12 blank).

H9 and I9 both display the same value, with H9 having colour formatting. With a value in F7 they both show "31" with H9 being coloured orange. If I delete the contents of F7, they both display 0 and H9 is coloured Yellow. I couldn't notice any difference between when conditional formatting was on the cell and when it wasn't.

You've described the formula intent as SHOWING blank if there is no value in F7, however, The way the IF is structured, then if F7 has no entry, then H9 will have the value in D12.

Further, even if D12 is blank itself, the value will be converted to a number because the other IF Expression has a Numeric result. If you want it to be blank you can instead indicate that directly in the expression, instead of the value in D12:

But I was now thinking outside the box from a new perspective. The solution is so simple that neither of us saw it.
I did a conditional format and let the cell contents be displayed anyway when I wanted no display at all. The solution
was to add another conditional format that would change the font color to the cell fill color when cell F7="".

The cell was still displaying the contents but with the font being the same color as the fill, you could not see what was being displayed. So I went back and used my original formulas because they were more simple and they worked. It also saved me the hassle of having to change many formulas on many other sheets.

I also talked to a friend for over an hour and he told me that using Windows 7, which I am using, has a good possibility of making Excel 97 do funny things. So I fired up an XP computer and got the same display result with conditional formatting. That is when I started to think outside of the box.

I use a software called JitBit Macro Recorder that I can use to make keyboard/mouse macros. Only trick to fully automating this would be to have the correct time delays and a list to work with.

Basically you can have a text file in notepad open with all URLs listed 1 per line. Your macro uses this list by taking the top most line and copy pastes that into the browser URL window and enter key is hit by the macro. The web page loads with whatever it is to print. Next the macro will CTRL+P and print it. If there are any dialog boxes that pop up the macro then selects what to do in those for your printer. Then its printed and moves on to the next URL by navigating by itself back to notepad and delete the first line and make all URL's below that move up a line. Then it takes that next line and does the same thing. You then need to know how many URL's your hitting so you can create an iteration COUNTER to only have it run for as many URLs your hitting and this way it ends when done vs continuous loop.

Best advice I have is to buy this software and create your own keyboard/mouse macro and use that process that can loop through all URLs until complete.

The macro basically would be performing this step for one URL line and setting up the next URL line at the tail end of it. So that when the macro runs again it picks up with a new URL, BUT... it can run in a loop of redundancy and process all of these for you. The macro can be compiled into the form of an EXE and this EXE can be paved into a batch file for X-Many times you need it to run such as to run the macro 5 times and your macro is named RunMe1.exe you can enter the following in notepad and save it as Batch1.bat and when running Batch1.bat it will run the macro 5 times

The JitBit Macro Recorder software is not that expensive and you can do just about anything automated with it. The hardest part of it is designing a process that can loop back on itself to seamless run over and over again, so the end of the macro instruction leads to prep for the start of itself again, so this means having certain windows open so when it clicks its clicking in the right window etc when it moves to an X/Y mouse location.

Also its best to not rush through the process of recording the TASKS to be completed per iteration. Such as between moving to the next thing to do pause for 2 or 3 seconds and then move on to the next step. When waiting for a webpage to load in the browser give it an extra 5 to 10 seconds before moving on to the next step of CTRL+P. This will give the computer more time to load and perform what needs to be done before doing what is to be done next, because if the webpage is slower to load than the speed at which you recorded the process, then it will CTRL+P with the page not loaded or partially loaded into the browser before it performs the CTRL+P and then it will malfunction on you where worst case scenario is that an error alert box pops up that takes the focus and then what needs to be accessed is behind that and the macro then is clicking in dead space and trying to paste a URL into a error alert box which wont accept it. So its important to give it plenty of padded time to do what needs to be done. If you have 1000 URLs though and the macro takes 1 minute to complete you then basically when running it wont be using your computer for 1000 minutes which is 16.7 hours. So when running this you cant use your computer at all. You need to hands off and let it do what you want it to do. If you grab your mouse and keyboard and type while its running BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN!!! As you interrupted the automated process and it can then run out of control on you trying to copy paste information between windows that are up that aren't Notepad and Browser.

If you have many to run its best to have a 2nd computer to run this while you use your computer for gaming etc. That's one reason why I own more than 1 computer is so that I can run automated routines on other computers and still have a free computer available to game etc. If you only need 100 URL's processed then its not bad less than 2 hours of time for a 1 minute executed macro.

I am CURRENTLY working on kiosk and was doing good on locking it down until I discovered that if END user clicks on a broken link they get "This page can't be displayed". The issue is when they get this page there is a "Fix connection problems" BUTTON on the page. A user is able to click it and with some navigation can reach the control panel.

Is there a group policy, Registry setting or IE setting that will disable the "Fix connection problems" button?

Any help is greatly appreciated.Restrict access to "C:\Windows\System32\msdt.exe", the actual diag tool, via GPO. The button will be there but will do nothing when clicked on.

In the upper right hand corner is the settings cog (right next to the page number and page back and forth arrows). Click on the settings cog and your first option is "Go back to classic Gmail". As to your password - a windows update shouldn't affect that. But I would view it as a positive thing. I've got something wrong with my the PROJECT.

So I have an mp3 file that is 42 HOURS play time , the SIZE of the file is like 3.2 gig , i have tested 3 different VIDEO editors now and none of them can handle the large file....

i want to make a video out of the file by adding video clips on top of it on the side of the music so i can upload the music to youtube as a music video.

first i used Wondershare Filmora , and this program was the one that worked the best , i was able to put videos along with the music all the way up to 30 hours then the whole program started giving me error messages and i was un able to complete the video to the 42 hour mark

so i tested a new program CyberLink PowerDirector but that program would not give me any sound on the file , guess cus it was to large or to long playtime , it loaded the file but no sound even though i edited all the sound software options in the program it self to try get sound,

then i tested Adobe PREMIERE Pro , and that program did not load the file correctly in to the program, right before it was finished loading in i got an error every single time, so the file had no visual sound on it nor sound , guessing the program could not handle the length of the music, when i tested smaller files in mp3 they loaded without errors and had sound,

so im stuck... i cant find a program that will do the job, as i said best result was with wondershare that almost let me finish the project but bugged out at 30 hour mark แทงบอลชุด

I am using Quicken 2004. (You read that right. Two-thousand-four. Bush v. Kerry. Ross and Rachel TOGETHER again. Wardrobe malfunctions. Yeah, it's old.

A few weeks ago, I lost the ability to print. I hit the "Print" button, and nothing happens. Quicken is (was) finicky in printer selection - you would have to go Printer Setup => Reports and Graphs to select the printer, and then you could Print from "Print".

If you guessed that clicking on "Reports and Graphs" does nothing, you're good. Clicking on either "Print" or "Reports and GRaphs" (to see if a printer is even connected) does nothing. A few weeks ago, this was fine.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled. Uninstalled, rebooted, did a cCleaner registry clean up (I know, I know), rebooted, reinstalled. Still not working.

(Oddly enough, my "recent files" is still there, even after all that cleaning.)

Other than putting my finances on the cloud, does anyone have THOUGHTS?Will your old version of Quicken allow printing to PDF? If so, you could print to PDF and then OPEN that document in a PDF reader and print from it. You aren't likely to find an Android Emulator to run APK files that works within the confines of those SYSTEM requirements. What do the system requirements call for in the emulators you tried using?

If they call out for a Core 2 Duo minimum, then this is what you will want minimum. Additionally I am thinking you want to have at least 2GB RAM available as the emulator will want 512MB to 1GB of RAM. If you have a Core 2 Duo system to use and that MEETS the requirements of the emulator then I'd install 4GB RAM myself and not go with just 2GB.

Even if your motherboard supported a better Pentium 4 HT processor, I have doubts it would be enough to run the emulator at a speed that is enjoyable. Many of the motherboards for Pentium 4 processors Max out at either 1GB or 2GB RAM depending on how old the board is and MFR specs.

The Pentium 4 HT Processors are cheapest cost in the 2.8Ghz and 3.0Ghz if your system supports them and they come in both Socket 478 and 775. The Extreme Edition Pentium 4 HT processors are costly and all for a few more hundred Mhz of CPU speed and lots more heat and power consumption. I picked up a Pentium 4 HT 3.0Ghz Socket 478 for $9.99 on ebay with free shipping 2 years ago for a friend that needed more processing power than the 2.6Ghz single-core Pentium 4 that he had. It made quite the difference, BUT he wasnt running emulators like your typing to run for android apps.

Had a RAM issue with a laptop cause oddity with VLC Player once DUE to shared memory with GPU. Fragments of old data on screen and refresh issue is what i had with it. MEMTEST86 flagged down memory address issue. Removed that 1GB RAM stick which was troubled dropping the Windows XP system to 1GB RAM and problem was solved.I found a setting that seems to SOLVE the problem : Check-mark 'Advanced Controls' in View menu.Cool.. Thanks for replying back with that fix so we know your good and if anyone else ever has similar issue they can try your solution.

i downloaded 2movie files with the avi extension, but now i cannot MOVE, rename or delete them, they will not even play and instead a random MUSIC file in my folder will play instead. i RAN malware programs, antivirus programs, used hijack this, trying to delete them and other FORCE delete programs.
I used command prompt and even booted in with a Linux disk, tried file shredding software and still cannot delete the files.
One can see them, but when you want to delete them you get message LIKE, not valid file or file name, file cannot be found etc,so i am worried is it, say a Trojan, how can I delete them, they take up about 2gb space on my hard disk.

Hmmmm First it was Spybot S&D with TeaTimer and now WinPatrol. Like Patio said though I am still going to run it as its nice to know when something is trying to do something in background. Assuming all features will work still with exception to the unknown of newer OS support for a locked version software. But thinking the only consequence of being version locked may be false positives where it might require more learning VS having rules in the logic as to what is normal from potentially unwanted system background activity.

So, I recently got my HP Jornada 540 to work with a computer running windows XP. The only trouble I'm having with the sync is the e-mail. The only thing I can set up in OUTLOOK is a Microsoft Mail account. Which asks for a post-office and such. For me under the services tab, I cannot find the internet mail option, just other STUFF that I really don't know how to USE. I'm wondering if there is some sort of update I need to preform on the PROGRAM that will give it the service. As of now, I'm going to attempt to use Outlook Express to Sync to it for e-mail.Protocols have changed in the last 21 years. I'd avoid using Outlook 97 and use e-mail through the providers website if thats an option or maybe use Thunderbird if you can find an older version that supports XP to have your e-mail handled by that which is more secure and has newer protocol and security support to handshake to newer mail server services.The problem is, Thunderbird will not work with the Jornada. I most likely wouldn't use it with my main e-mail account anyways. I was trying to find a free copy of Outlook 2000 as that does support internet mail, but to no avail. If anyone has any suggestions on a program that will work with the HP Jornada 540 as an EMAIL program, please feel free to share.

If your just trying to strip frames to size the file SMALLER than 116MB, VirtualDub could be used. But Virtualdub lacks an editor. You could size it down by CHANGING the video quality, however you can only size it down so much before it starts to look really bad. Cutting out frames to shorten the length of the video would be the best choice to maintain same video quality.I think the simplest would be Windows Movie Maker.Given that Movie Maker isn't supported anymore, for basic cutting I'd recommend Avidemux. The biggest thing with a drive that is formatted by accident is to stop using it immediately to avoid making any other changes to the drive until you can connect it as a external drive or secondary drive to a system that is already running healthy with the data recovery software mentioned by Allan.

If the formatted drive is written to in any way, then the initial data formatted is overwritten on the drive and based on how data is scattered on a drive based on whatever sectors were initially available to record the data MEANS that new data can stomp on top of old data locations that are spanned scattered among the sectors and so you could have original data that is then only 99% complete as a sector HOLDING the binary data was overwritten which can make for partial data recovery or a file that wont work anymore.

I have had good luck with Recuva, but it all comes down to if the drive is healthy and if the data was overwritten yet with new.

If the data is critical and these 2 programs cant help then you would need to send the drive out to a data recovery service and it can cost a couple hundred dollars to a healthy drive to recover data, and there is no 100% guarantee to getting all of it back!

I haven't ever used a data recovery service myself but know of others who have and to get back their data was costly So perhaps this also is a lesson learned to IMPLEMENT a good data backup plan.

One free offsite backup I USE for my important data is Google Drive where I have 15GB of free storage. I also have a 128GB USB Drive connected to the back of my desktop with a batch file that I run to backup my data at C:\Data to E:\Data so if my hard drive crashes I can pop this 128GB Thumb Drive out and put it into another computer and continue working on projects, as well as with the 15GB cloud I can also download my data to the healthy computer I am using. So most critical data goes to the 15GB cloud and lesser importance data stored only on the 128GB drive of which up to 15GB of the cloud is also located among the 128GB thumb drive for a local and offsite copy of it.

I stopped using Lotus 1-2-3 back around 1997 when I got Office 97 then when Open Office came out I switched away from Micro$oft for a free office solution.

It took me a while to GET use to not prepending @ to my formula functions in Excel etc which Lotus 123 required for syntax. There is even the google docs spreadsheet if you don't WANT ANOTHER program on your computer Excel and Lotus are the only two I know, tried open office but it is all DIFFERENT.

Well, if you need those photos that bad, you could always use a 2.5 inch HDD to USB converter to grab them off of your hard drive from another computer.
