Solve : Wireless Optical Mouse?

Answer»

I bought a MICROSOFT wireless optical mouse (2.0A) and it didn't come with a receiver of any kind. I have been trying for hours to find out if I NEED a receiver. I assume that I do because it isn't working. Can anyone help me??As far as I know, there are two types of wireless mouses. And they both require receivers.

The difference lies in the way they are powered. One is powered via the mousepad and the other via batteries.

Is it a second hand wireless mouse?I bought it "brand new" off of Ebay. It is battery powered but I think I should have a receiver that plugs into the USB port or somethinng. Microsoft can't help me and I can't EVEN find a web site where I could buy a receiver. What is the full name of the mouse you have bought?

It is a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0A Model 1008I believe I have narrowed it down to either one of these:

Wireless Optical Mouse

Standard Wireless Optical mouse

Perhaps you are able to find the information you require on these product pages. Quote

Screwed by eBay again (sorry!).
Microsoft says:  "...Wireless technology is straight forward: The keyboard and mouse transmit information to a receiver that is plugged into your computer..."
i rather see the stuff i am buying not a pic./description....rip off website....someone SOLD a piece of old rope.......that  was  found in the street.....and some wally bought it.....WELL i rest my case....or rope....Do you both have dissatisfactory experiences with Ebay, CC and Merlin?

Solve : I need some help with my motherboard...?

Answer»

I am FIXING up a computer, it is a HP Pavilion 6350 and an AMD K6 2/333 processor. I installed XP on it (it had Win 98), but after I installed XP everything was really SLOW. So I contacted a HP tech and asked if I could upgrade the processor, to which he said that there is no processor that will go faster on this computer. He then told me that I should replace the motherboard or buy a new computer. I did not want to buy a new PC so I called a local computer repair shop and asked how much it would cost for a new motherboard to be put in. The guy told me it would cost $100-200 for the motherboard, then another $100-200 for the processor. I was ok with that, but then he told me that he would have to be paid $250-300 to do it, that is when I said no thanks. So I took out the board, but I cannot find out which board to get to upgrade it with. All I can see on the board as a sign of who made it is "SPAX REV 1.01". If you can TELL me where to go to get one or what type I need, please post.Jasoncomp .... Well it might be an IDEA to decide which processor you are planning on installing ..........then you can find a mobo which will support that processor .......
You should also consider what type of ram is in the old pc ...   Could be wrong , but I think 2 x 128mb  of SD Ram .........is the max it will take ....... Could be a big mistake to sink money into that box .....

If you are used to working on pc's you can find some bargins on E bay .

If it was mine ..I'd put back in the old board ........and install win 98 on it and SELL it on E bay .....or in a garage sale .....

Solve : mouse port suddenly stopped working??

Answer»

my mouse suddenly stopped WORKING. i tried changing the batteries, then the mouse and the problem is still there. there has been no knocks to my pc, i have not installed any new hardware/software. any ideas of how to remedy this problem, is it a problem with the motherboard as i dont have a usb mouse. is this problem related to a virus and what might have caused this? any help greatly appreciated
cheersSo when you move around the mouse, nothing happens? Is it CONNECTED in the port CORRECTLY? Have you sacanned for viruses?

[glb]Flame[/glb]If you have changed the batteries, the mouse may need to be reconnected with the receiver.

I suggest you refer to the wireless mouse/keyboard manual as this procedure may VARY per manufacturer.yeah the mouse is connected tot he correct port. it was working one day and not the next. the curser is on the screen. i changed the batteries after testing all connections. then changed the mouse for one i know works and still the same. on the basis of that it seems unlikely it is something to do with the reciever, however i will try resetting it. is it possible a virus can do this?Did you or did you not reconnect the mouse to the receiver?

I do not mean reconnecting the receiver to the computer.i didnt but it was working fine before with the batteries which are full, it stopped working with fully charged batteries, at which point i changed them just in case. so no i havent reconnect the mouse with the reciever, i will look for a button to push

Solve : Modem can't dial, just static, at night?

Answer»

Between about 6:00 PM and midnight or 1:00 AM, when I try to connect to the internet (EARTHLINK Dial-up, U.S. Robotics 56K Fax PCI internal modem), instead of the usual dialing and connecting sounds, I hear crackling static that STARTS immediately and get a "no dial tone" message. Occassionally, in the midst of the crackling static, I will hear the modem dial and attempt to connect, but it fails. The problem does not occur during other times of the day. During the times when I have the connection problem, my phone works normally. I tried using another phone jack in the house, and got the same problem. I have not changed any settings, etc., lately.
Since this problem seems to happen before the modem even dials, it doesn't seem to be a problem on the Earthlink side. It seems especially strange, since it essentially only occurs during the aforementioned time of the evening and night, and the phone seems to be fine during those times (no static, etc.).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.unplug your phone........and connect to the main phone jack......do you have an extension lead that is connected to the modem.??.... if so>>.....does it run pass any electrical boxes??go into your modem PROPERTIES and uncheck that little BOX that says something like "WAIT for dialtone before dialing" it may be the root of your woes.

Solve : My computer is beeping a lot......?

Answer»

my pc is beeping all over the place --- sometimes one short; sometimes 3 short, sometimes alternating between a high beep and a lower 'blip'.  Sometimes there's a whole bunch altogether!  This has been going on for awhile (weeks) but is GETTING worse.  I checked the cpu temp and that is ok.  I went to several sites trying to find info, but nothing seems to be working.

Here's info from the startup screen ( I unplugged my KEYBOARD and re-booted to get this info):

Phoenix-AwardBIOS v6.00PG

W6570NMS V5.7 03904 09:49:26

Can anyone at least point me in the right direction?  I have no idea what could be causing so many different beeps!Bad keyboard.you MAY be right...

i just powered everything down, disconnected everything from the power source, took off the covers, checked all CONNECTIONS, cleaned SYSTEM fan, fan to power supply, fan on video card (i took this off and re-seated it), hooked everything back up and turned the pc back on.  i got a beep during startup, which i don't think i had before, and i've been running about 10 minutes now with no beeps.  could it have been the cat fur from my shedding long-haired cat?  there was lots of it inside the case.

Solve : Can't get into windows?

Answer» RECENTLY i replaced my spolit motherboard with a new one. I can't GET into WINDOWS there after. What should i do. I don't wish to format and reinstall windows again as i have very important data inside my hardiskMore information is required.

1. Why can it not load Windows?
2. Does it play any beeps on start-up?
3. Can you power on the computer?
4. Are all cables firmly connected?
No beeps, there's power on my computer all cables firmly connected. Most likely its my hardisk, I change a new brand mobo so i assume that's why i can't get into windows xp. So what should i do, i don't wish to lost the data in my hardisk by re-formating the current partition and reinstalling window xp.

If you BELIEVE the Hard Disk Drive is at fault, you should disconnect it to see if the computer will power on.

I suggest that you recheck all power connectors. Have you taken precautionary measures against electro-static discharge whilst installing the mainboard?
my buddy has the EXACT same problem, it was due to a videocard not set correctly in the slot, try there, try ALL the PCI/AGP slots to be sure they are all seated firmly.

Solve : laptop mouse running BACKWARDS?

Answer»

My laptop mouse within the keyboard is running backward from side to side. When I move the mouse BUTTON left, the cursor goes right and visa versa. The up and down is fine - moving the mouse up MAKES the cursor go up - it is just the side to side that is reversed and it's driving me batty! What do I do?go into the bios setup.........it maybe setup for a left HANDED person......what make is  this  laptop>>>>>>

or it SOMEONE doing this>http://www.jokingaround.com/ContentPage.aspx?_TemplateID=7Also try reinstalling the drivers for the mouse, and scan for viruses...

[glb]Flame[/glb]My laptop is a Dell Latitude - not even sure what model it is yet. I paint motorcycles - www.paintedhog.com - and I just traded this somputer for painting a guys gas tank. I only got the computer by itself - nothing else yet. It worked fine for a month or more. I don't know if someone is playing a joke on me - not sure how to tell. Even if this thing is set up for a left hander - wouldn't the mouse go left when directed left? It's the little mouse button in the center of the keyboard. The touch pad works fine - I hate USING it, but it works fine and I guess I'll just get used to it if I have to - I just thought it might be a somewhat simple fix.
Thank you guys for your time!

Solve : problems after using RegMech?

Answer»

I used Registry Mechanic trial on my 2 week old computer.  Found 50 problems, corrected 26.  Since then LCD sreen flashes on and off and shows color PATTERNS on screen for a few seconds every time i
        1. Start up/ restart.
        2. Exit SCREENSAVER mode
        3. Exit a video game.
Also my system seems to be running slightly slower. System restore didn't fix anything, so I reformatted my hard drive, restored CMOS to original settings, and reinstalled WINDOWSXP.  Problem didn't go away. What could be causing this?

The problem does not seem to be related to RegMech, merely coincidental.

I suggest you check to see if:

  • All cables are connected properly
  • All hardware is FIRMLY seated
  • Excessive dust is removed from heatsinks/fans

Solve : monitor still won't work?

Answer»

My old computer doesn't recognize my brand of
monitor.  It only lets me select 16 COLORS and the
desktop only shows shades of gray.  I've already
rebooted from the start up disk and that didn't change
a thing.  No programs or games will run because it
says I need to switch to 320 by 240 (or something)
colors but I can only select 16 colors.

I posted this a few days ago and it appears that
I have the correct driver already installed.  Any
other ideas?

Thanks a lot!!!!

First off, it's a good thing you brought your problem to people who like to help. Second, it would be best if you stayed with your original post and answered there. Continuity brings better results than starting new threads.
Having said that,    Had a similar problem and ended up installing new VIDEO card over onboard video. Problem solved, wallet lighter.
You say "old computer", how old? What OS, etc.? Is the monitor cable connected securely?
Stay with us and we'll whip this thing!
jimWhen you say that you have the correct driver loaded... Is it the most updated and recent one that you can find from your video card manufacturer's website? Have you tried running a windows update on http://www.microsoft.com ?

[glb]Flame[/glb]Sorry for breaching protocol, guys.
I tried downloading windows updates,
most of them failed.  Do I have a major
problem here?
This is a really stupid, newbie question
but how do I know which driver to download?
I have a Philips (terrible) monitor and the
driver says it is NVIDIA.

Thanks for the help.Hi Trey,  The VIDEO card is Nvidia, the MONITOR is a Phillips.
Try this: Go into START, -> Settings, ->  control Panel, ->  Add new hardware. When it asks if you want to look for it yourself say no. It should find your monitor. If it doesn't, click on back and click on monitor, it will give yoiu a list of makes. Scroll down to Phillips, click on that, scroll to your model number, click on that and follow the instructions. You may have to do the same thing for your video card.
I am TAKING it for granted that you probably have an older operating system as you say it is an "old" computer.
Try this and we'll go from there if it doesn't work.
jimThanks for the reply, Jim.  I tried the add hardware
route.  It lets me choose video adapter, nothing
for the monitor.  It says I have an NVIDIA Vanta Lt.
The error it gives me is something like "The driver
is either not present, not working properly or
all drivers are not installed (Code 24)."
I searched for a better driver and after connecting
to windows update it told me I already have the best
driver installed.  Does the fact that I can't pick the
monitor have something to do with it?

Thanks everybody.Okay, I tried downloading a new driver from nVidia
and it caused some error.  My computer would
only start in safe mode.  I started up with the
recovery disk and now I'm back where I started.
I have Windows ME if that helps.

Any ideas???Nothing guys?  I have tried everything I can think of.
I guess my next move is the local computer repair
shop.I don't know why but your thread seems to have got lost for a bit. Maybe a flood of new threads pushed it down the list.
Anyway, it looks like a driver problem, you need to IDENTIFY your video card then download the correct drivers for it from nvidia.
Quote

The error it gives me is something like "The driver
is either not present, not working properly or
all drivers are not installed (Code 24)."

PS, don't believe the windows update for driver recommendations, it's way out of date because of the certification delays.

Solve : CD-R drive problems?

Answer»

I recently sent my compuiter out to be repaired and a new hard drive was installed. Now that I have that, all of m old files and everything were wiped out. I MANAGED to replace everything, except for my CD-R drive. The HARDWARE is still in the computer. for what I can tell it is connected (a light comes on when I open or close the drive) however the CD-R drive cannot be found anywhere on my comptuer. When I open my computer the only drive LISTED is my c-drive, my- a (floppy) and d- my cd-rom but there is no drive- E which used to be used to be my burner. I have tried to click add new hardware but it cannot find anything, and I do not still have the installation disk that came with the burner, or even remeber what type of burner it is. My OS is windows xp and any help would be soooo greatly appreciated. Thanks!I wouldn't worry about the driver, Windows XP should find it with no problems.  What you need to do first, is open the case and make sure there is an IDE cable attached the CD drive.  It should be a flat cable about 1.5 inches wide.  You'll see the same type of cable connected to your hard drive.  If that is already connected, pull the cable off and try to reseat it.  If that all FAILS, go into your BIOS and make sure it's detected in there and that your primary/secondary IDE controllers are all enabled (since I don't know which one your CD drive is going to be connected to).  Let me know if that helps.  If you need additional assistance, you can reach me at ResourcePC.

Solve : formatting ??

Answer»

Dear MEMBERS,
Although I want to format my hard disk from startup disk. When I boot from startup disk, it shows A:\> . But I cant' CHANGE to drive C:. And it shows invalid drive.
I am using win XP sp 2. dos ver is 5.1.2600.  So, if u know how to fix this problem, please help me.Thank you. Have you ran FDISK from the A:\ prompt?Dear Raptor,
I think fdisk command only work in win 95 and win 98. My current version is window xp service park 2. And, I have also tested this command. And it shows "Fdisk" is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch files.
                      Thank fo your advice.
mr.curious If you are attempting to install Windows XP then there is no need to even LOOK at an A:\ prompt.

You simply need to insert the Windows XP CD and choose to install Windows XP. From there it will TELL you that Windows XP is allready installed and asks you wheter or not you wish to format first.

Solve : burned cd is blank?

Answer»

After burning a cd rom using different PROGRAMS and a message stating that the burn was complete. When I look at the disc, it is totally blank and I can "burn" it again.

I used 4 different programs and 4 different brand cd's, the same problem.

I use Windows XP home SP2

TPLMust be a problem with the burner itself...

[glb]Flame[/glb]Burner works fine in another machine. It worked OK here when first installed 2 weeks ago.Try updating the drivers frot the burner...

[glb]Flame[/glb]My computer that's not even a year old does the same thing, except it wrecks the CDs. I can't figure out why.Cheap CD(s)? Bad software?

[glb]Flame[/glb]Do you need the patch?>http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=70446CF9-5B5A-4733-A9AF-E6AD6A2D96A1My CD-ROM Reader/Writer has a habbit of mislocating data in clusters and causing them to become corrupted... Well, that is the OFFICIAL explanation given to me by Nero, anyway.

Would anyone care to shed a light on that?http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/learnmore/bott_03september16.mspxI read the article about the patch and I am having one of the symptoms described. I'm not at home right now but I'll download and install it as soon as I do.i kind of had the same problem this morning, i went to burn a cd with Nero and it kept asking me to save it as an image, couldnt figure out why. Then i realized that My Computer no longer showed my DVD/CD drive. I opened up the device manager and the drive has a yellow hazard/exclamation point SIGN next to it.  The properties menu GIVES this explanation:
Code: [Select]
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

Troubleshooting told me to try uninstalling the drive then reinstalling, then to check for an update driver. I tried both, Windows could not find a driver for it.

Not sure where to go from here, any help would be great.

Solve : Sound Card Detection issues?

Answer»

Hello all. After a few problems with my computer, (and the fact it came with no recovery CDS) I was forced to totally reinstall Windows XP on my computer. I was running the Media edition which came with it, but I was forced to purchase the Home edition.

However, XP absolutely refuses to detect my on board sound card, I tried to look at things in the BIOS, but I am clueless and don't want to screw something up.

Oddly enough, it detected my Video Card right away. I looked up the computer model, and it SAYS I should have a Sound Blaster Audigy card.

Thank you in advance.A sound Blaster card would not be onboard... It is a card... Onboard would be built into the MOTHERBOARD... Am I right? (I have been known to be wrong)

[glb]Flame[/glb]It came with the computer, that's what I meant. You could try
Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add New Hardware.I tried that. Like I said. It will not detect it.What do you see under 'sound' in your device manager?Does it appear in DXDIAG? Have you installed drivers using any CD or from the internet?

[glb]Flame[/glb]I don't see the card under device manager, and it won't let me install the drivers, saying I have no such card.

It says
audio codecs
legacy audio drivers
legacy audio video capture devices
media control devices
video codecs

And DXDIAG?DXDIAG: Click Start -> Run... In the run box, type   dxdiag   ... Press enter.. You may see a small gray box appear... Just click no for now... You should now see a large gray box.. Click on the sound tab, and tell us what you see...

[glb]Flame[/glb]It says: "No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer." Quote

I don't see the card under device manager, and it won't let me install the drivers, saying I have no such card.

Did you use the correct drivers for your card

http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/Questions:

1. Is the soundcard properly seated?
2. Have you touched the soundcard?
3. Has the soundcard WORKED before you reformatted?a couple of thoughts. try the card in anoth pci slot.try another card that you know works. xp nomatter which one you use is very good at detecting everything and useing a default driver to kick start it evey after it asks for it and you no comprendo1: no idea
2: no
3: It worked perfectly

I've been told by a friend who had her sound go that it was an XP setting. I cannot get the drivers to install: they say I have no sound card. There is a couple of ways to fight your way through
Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add New Hardware
to sort of force windows to play the game.
It may be worth PLAYING around in there a bit.

Solve : Lost Partition?

Answer»

I've lost a HARD Disk. One minute it was there, the next Windows tells me it is an unformatted drive. Whats up? Most of my important files are on that disk!
AMD XP1900, 784RAM, disk 1 (120gig) has 3 PARTITIONS on ide0, disk 2 (200gig) had 1 PARTITION on ide1

I ran disk cleanup on C drive then defragged C (1st patition on disk 1) and H (disk 2). soon after disk 2 showed up as an unformatted disk. Partition Magic 7 shows drive as 194gig/NTFS with no errors. Windows does not see partition.Could it be your BIOS needs updating?  If Partition Magic sees it and Windows does not, I suspect a BIOS issue.  See if the motherboard manufacturer has any updates. Why would the need for a bios update suddenly make a visible and funtioning harddisk appear unformatted?Have you done the following:

  • Scanned for Viruses
  • Scanned for Spyware
  • Scanned for Trojan Horses
Yes, Yes, and Yes. All negative. I just ran BELARC ADVISOR and it shows the drive as healthy as well but does not show the partition. I'm baffled by this.I have also viewed the drive info in Partition Magic 7 and it shows the NTFS partition as healthy and active.Commando, I have current Bios installed.

Solve : DVD drive not functioning correctly?

Answer»

I use my DVD Rom drive to copy home produced DVDs ( no macrovision) to my DVD -RW drive. First disc works fine using NERO 6 quick copy set-up. Inserting the second disc, the IDE 16x ROM drive will not recognise DVDs at all, only CDs..says it's a CD only drive. Rebooting cures the problem, temporarily.
Using Windows XP, Nero 6, and plenty of memory and HARD drive capacity. Any suggestions?Have you tried updating the drivers for the CD Drive?

[glb]Flame[/glb]Yes, I did try, but the seemed to be a problem with the website of the manufacturer, Artec...and an email came back undelivered.

Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I should ditch the drive and get a new one, they are not really expensive, let's face it!WELL, that's the easy way out... It's your choice... What do you want to do?

[glb]Flame[/glb]Check with Nero, they're pretty good about fixing those things.Replying to Flame:
Well it may be the easy way out, but there seems to be no practical ALTERNATIVE. Updating the drivers didn't work.  I can install a new DVD Rom drive, and keep the old allegedly DVD drive for use aas a CD drive I suppose. Do you think there is any practical barrier to having all these different drives installed?

Installed new source drive  (Aopen DVD-RW) and all problems solved..musty have been failing Artec DVD Rom drive/

SO IF YOU KNOW OF ANY OTHER WAY.....
Bye4nowit could be that your disc is formatted as NTFS for Windows 2000 and that as you are now trying to install windows 95 that operating system "win95" cannot recognize ntfs. you may have to get a software utillity to back format to Fat or Fat32

Solve : ide channel no 80 conductor installed?

Answer»
when i SWITCH on my pc a message is displayed on the post screen -"ide CHANNEL no 80 conductor installed", and the pc fails to boot.
sometimes boots without this problem.

help me..............80 conducter IDE cables are used for the CS (cable select) setting on drives. If you have 40 conducter cables, you must make the proper M (master) or S (SLAVE) settings on the drives. This is done with the small jumper on the back of the drives. The absence of a jumper is for single drive operation, although the jumper can be set that way.the 80 cable has extra double wires per 40 pin connection to stop data transfer loss and also allows faster data transfer for ATA133 etc have you added a NEWER and larger hard drive, or dvd, CDROM, it is a simple changeover and the 80 cable can be recognized by the blue connecters

Solve : Ethernet Card Setup Question...?

Answer»

Hey! I just bougth a Linksys Etherfast 10/100 PCI Network Adapter, and I am getting ready to install it... I looked at the manual, and understand all but one thing... After you insert the card into the PCI slot, and close the case, it wants you to plug the Ethernet cable into the card... Is this necessary for setup? Sorry if this is hard to follow!

[glb]Flame[/glb]This might be easier... This comes straight from the manual...

E. Replace your PC's cover
F. Connect one end of a Ethernet cable to your PC at the 10/100 LAN Card's RJ-45 port.
G. Plug the other end of the cable into an open port on your hub, switch, DSL Modem, cable modem, or router.

My QUESTION is, do I need to plug the modem into the Ethernet port for it to setup the card? (I am not looking to use my modem off Ethernet, but USB just for now... I will be using Ethernet for the future router)

[glb]Flame[/glb]Assuming you are using Windows XP:

It will detect and install the NIC regardless of wheter there is a network cable present or not.

Pre-Windows XP OS will most likely only detect and not install the Network Interface Card.Yes, I am uning Windows XP Home. So you think I can waive the cable hook-up for now? Also, I thought this was Plug-and-Play, but it came with a CD, and the driections say to insatll drivers from the CD...

[glb]Flame[/glb]There are several options you have when installing drivers:

1. Use (often) outdated drivers that come on either Diskette or CD-ROM
2. Obtain the latest drivers from the manufacturer their page.
3. Allow Windows to auto-detect and auto-install the hardware component.
-- These often seem to be WDM drivers.
4. Allow Windows Update to detect the hardware component and suggest drivers.

I prefer option #2 whenever possible.I see.... But you don't think I need the cable to be inserted when I SET it up, right?

[glb]Flame[/glb]The Ethernet cable does not need to be connected when installing Network Interface Card drivers.

It does not even have to be connected when configuring Windows for your network.THANKS!

[glb]Flame[/glb]No problem.

However, it would be interesting to know wheter it makes a difference or not when you leave the Ethernet cable connected during installation..I'll try without the cable first... If I nned it, then I'll let you all know what happens... Thanks again!

[glb]Flame[/glb]Ok. RAPTOR... BECUASE you were curious... lol    No, I did not need to insert the cord for installation... All I had to do was insert the card, let the XP Setup Wizard detect it (plug-and-Play), and then update the drivers from the CD that Linksys gave me... That's it! Thanks for the help!

[glb]Flame[/glb]No problem, Flame.Just for the other computer users out there who might be wondering... This Linksys Etherfast Ethernet Adpater works like a dream! If you're looking for a great Ethernet card, buy this one! (The model of the card is a  LNE100TX    )

Solve : full hard drive capacity not detected?

Answer»

i have TWO maxtor HARD drives that my operating system does not detect the full capacity of.  one is a 250GB and one is a 60GB.  Both are detected as being 34GB the jumpers are set CORRECTLY.  could it be a problem with the CMOS? I was RUNNING windows xp but have just changed to linux red hat.  I figured that once i changed operating systems that this problem would be corrected but it was not.  could it be the bios?  i am running:

AMD athlon 64 3000+
DFI lanparty nF3 250GB motherboard
1 gig ram

any help would be greatly appreciated.
If your operating system is XP, then upgrade to at least SP1. That should've settle the problem as it did with mine. But since you use Linux.... After checking your motherboard spec it could be that the maximum drive the cmos or bios can recognize is 132gb and it may be lower, please have a look at this site:-
http://www.dfi.com.tw/Upload/Manual/nvraid%20manual.pdf
as the raid drives shown are all in the 30 to 60 gb range.
a bios update may resolve this but they are only showing the last 4, dut there are a few driver updates that are available which also could help.

Solve : Something is wrong with my video card....?

Answer»

Hey Guys
My brother bought a GeForce 6600 GT video CARD a few MONTHS ago.  After a little trouble at the start with a lack of power, we got the darn thing to work.  However, this morning we wake up and TURN it on.  The monitor wasn't displaying anything.  We restarted the computer and TRIED again.  No luck.  So we opened her up and switched back to the integrated video card.  VOILA things worked.  Thinking it was fixed, we switched back to the GeForce but boy were we wrong.  The monitor isn't displaying the screen but it will with the Integrated card.  If you guys could help us out that would be great.  We're running a Dell Dimension 4600 on Windows XP and anything would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.Well this is a sign that the card is not compatible... Does your computer match or beat the requirements for the card as far as the power supply, and ALL other requirements?

Solve : computer stops in booting process?

Answer»

Pentium 3 running Millineum.  When booting up, I receive the following message. "When UDMA CABLE in Bio setup item set to 80 pin, you must use 80 conductor cable. Suggested SDRAM CAS Latency Time is "2"
I can never get past this POINT.  I can get into the Bio/Cmos setup windows, but once I come out it stops at the same point and gives me the same message. Any help would be appreciated.  Oh, I can get rid of part of the error message that says "suggested SDRAM Cas Latency Time is 2, by changing the number to 2 in the Bios setup, but the UDMA CABLE error message is a CONSTANT.  I unplugged the computer when I went on vacation and when I started it up, this error message began.  Any help would be appreciated.
MaxAre you using a 40 conductor cable?  It may be POSSIBLE that when putting your computer back together, you accidentally switched CABLES...

They are indeed compatible with eachother, so the 40 conductor cable will fit into a port that originally carried an 80 conductor cable...

If you didn't switch the cables, it's possible that your BIOS settings were wiped out (Since apparently you RAM settings were screwed up too), so perhaps you can go into BIOS and change the settings from ATAPI to IDE/ATA....  I'm really not too sure about this, since I don't know what BIOS you use, but I think it's worth a try...

Tell me if it works!
