I have a weird problem with my computer. It just started today but when I open something like internet explorer or word or pretty much any program it works for about 3 minutes and then completely closes. What the HECK is the deal and can I fix it??!?Which OS are you USING?  If this is XP, have you tried System Restore?  What protection software do you have?Are you saying the application itself closes (WHATEVER you're running), or does the computer completely shut down?

Do you receive any error messages?Also, some HISTORY would be nice.

How long has the problem been going on for?
What were you doing before the problem?
Any recent DOWNLOADS, installs or hardware changes?

Hoping for some Turrent help, I've searched the help centre at Vuze without success...

I'm downloading a torrent, it's 4gig and when I started I had 9 gig free on my HD. It continually stops with an error that says "there is not enough free space on the drive: write fails, flush fails"

Am I doing something WRONG? I made a EXTRA 4 gig free and 'rechecked' the torrent, it started again (picked up from the same place) but the same error continues...

it's driving me nuts!

I used to download all kinds of MUSIC, But now that people are getting arrested for doing so, I am a little paranoid about downloading music on the Internet. But I miss it sooo much. Any legal programs out there for downloading MP-3s ? well you can get napster to go or zune pass or something for only $15 a month per service and get free downloads or if you DONT MIND the music just streaming the there is a $13 napster thing too I don't know but I think you can purchase music on Itunes as well.lol but then you have to pay 99 cents per song Maybe a proxy? I'm no expert though, but I think good, tested anonymous proxies hide your IP and will save you any trouble.

I welcome comments on proxies!

Or, just buy the music! 99 cents is pretty good for a track that would be about $1.80 on a CD...

Good anonymous proxies hide your real IP address no matter what you're using to surf/download, surely?

Just because you are using a proxy, does not mean you are not traceable. You are still assigned an IP, and I will see that IP in my logs. You do something, illegal on a site, law enforcement will just get a court order for the IP trace, the Proxy will be required to give up the IP that was assigned that particular Proxy IP at that time, and they will continue to trace you to your ISP and get your information from them. Most often it's only a three step process. The proxy, your ISP, and then you.

There is no such thing as anonymous on the Internet. One can have an illusion of anonymity, but one is never TRULY anonymous. You can make it extremely difficult to trace you, but not impossible.

As for music...Hype Machine is a favorite site of mine and it's about 98% legal.  But if you're not into the indie scene, you may have trouble finding something you like.

I read another post here on how to capture Real Media STREAMS. But none of the techniques or Programs work.

I have long been looking for a free program that actually can cut MP4 videos and also do other things to those video snippets. Whenever I search for answers to anybody's questions about what software to USE to cut video in general (interestingly, some also ASK in these INSTANCES about MP4), most PEOPLE say Windows Movie Maker and VirtualDub, but both of those do not support MP4. Basically, I want a program that can actually open an MP4 video for me so I can cut/edit/do whatever to the MP4 videos.Though I can't recommend one...I can point you in the right direction...hopefully.

hi everyone,can someone tell me how do they do for a software to become DEMO, what are files which are added or any SCRIPTS which are added to the software.please help me. Programers use differant methods to make a program a Demo.

In GENERAL the reason the program is a demo is so you can try it and than if you like it buy it.

I had no any bad intentions by ASKING the question,it's was just a curiosity hence i'll CLOSE the topic if you don't mind.

I am using DVD Architect and I need some help with it if anyone can.

First off I have a DL DVD Burnner and a Blank DL DVD

When I have everything in my Timeline to make my DVD I go to Make DVD Tab.
And then I go through the screens and click Next Tab.

I get to a Cressn that says to CREATE a Break Point and it GIVES me 3. Options.

Option 1. Let program make Break Point.
Option 2. PROMPT me to Make Break Point.
Option 3. Notify me when break point will be created or something like this.

I picked Option 1. Let program create Break Point. And it looks like it is Making my DVD then it stops at 68 % and a screen comes up and tells me??
A place for the Break Point chould not be found....you can create a Break Point Befor Titles and at the Start of sceens.

And it just says CANCEL.  So my get is It wants me to hit cancel and create a break point in the Timeline and then go back to the Make Movie Tab..

What I need help with is how do I create a break point and how do I find the right spot???

Can anyone help.

PS  I red the help files it says nothing on doing this.

I have seen technicians in GEEK squad working and they use a software that TELLS you how many viruses , Trojans, etc. you have in your PC, then they do something in DOS to check your hardware. Does anyone here know anything about a software able to do all that ?

Hi I have a Dell inspiration 530 and untill now it has run well, It is loaded with XP professional, however during the last couple of days the sound system has changed the settings, how I do not KNOW I down loaded a track from the net and now if I try to play any music now the Band / Orchestra or backing SINGERS sound fine, the main VOCAL seems to be SEVERAL hundered yards away and is barly audible on a lot of tracks loaded on the hard drive, and played through microsoft windows media player 11. I have been into the settings  and tried to alter the realtec HD sound effect manager but nothing seems to have any effect. I cannot revert or reset  the system to the settings that were fine a week ago.

Is there a reset I can activate or am I missing the plot here, why can't I adjust the system so it sounds normal, would apreciate any help or suggestions Did you try to reinstall sound driver?CHEERS for that Broni,  took a little time as my expertise is minimal but got there in the end, and everything working fine.

   A while back I installed a second HD, ADDED XP to it, moved MS Office programs from the old to the new by simply using COPY and PASTE. The programs failed to start on the new HD. I forget what I did but probably found the original disks and reloaded them.
  Now, I'm reformatting the HD on my laptop. This time I don't have the CDs for some of my programs. How do I reinstall my exisiting programs? They didn't come with the laptop. I can get the keys from "Help" on the programs. Will simply COPY and PASTE WORK? Did I forget to copy something the first time I tried years ago? On this laptop I have XP Pro (supplied w/laptop).Unless a program is portable you cannot simply copy/paste the program from one disk to another and expect it to work.   Installed programs can create entries in various locations, such as the Registry.   These entries can be essential for the program to RUN and if not found on the new disk the program will not perform.

You will appreciate that formating your laptop hdd will remove access to all files on it and you will need an Operating System cd to reinstall an OS.

   Any suggestions on the best WAY to format this HD and get those programs back on and running?First gotta ask why you want/need to format the laptop hdd?

However, if you're dead set on formatting, what I would look at would be a very good clean-up of the laptop hdd to remove all accumulated junk then I would attach the laptop hdd to a desktop and clone the laptop hdd to an internal hdd on the desktop.  Then format the laptop hdd and clone the data back ensuring that I made the laptop hdd bootable when cloned.  That means you get the laptop hdd back to the same contents before you formatted and all programs should run.   (This is pure theory, I've never had to reformat any laptop hdd even my 6-year-old).  BTW I use the XXClone free version.

But what's the point of formatting if all that's needed is a good bit of housekeeping?Yeah, if you have a problem, we may be able to help you FIX it.
Trust me, reformatting can be very annoying....

Hi I installed an Avertv video card in my new pc and also the avermedia prog that came with it  and when trying to record from TV I get an error report saying "Create video encoder filter fail!"
The same card was installed in my old puter and worked all right.

You could probably use PHP or Perl to get the status of the server etc...

What kind of server are you talking about? Web server?Wolf et server, I need them to be able to basicly have vnc style with the drag and drop files but still be able to see there consol. not only that is i need it to have restrictions eg WINDOWS folder. and other folders that they can cause harm to. I don't have any EXPERIENCE with it....

But I think cPanel would be the same idea... Have you heard of it?

SOMETHING like that is very advanced, so you would even consider trying to do it UNLESS you have a very good knowledge of Perl, PHP, JSP etc....

Call your ISP tomorrow, and when you can't get help fro regular guy, ask for 2nd level technician, and be firm about it.

When I put my computer on Standby, I sometimes have problems with my NETWORK/internet connection (linksys/Cisco router to switch to cable modem).  Sometimes the machine just slows to a crawl.  The problems are intermittent and inconsistent.  Does anyone else have this issue?  (The solution is to shut down and restart, not too difficult.) I have the same problem as the one described by you. Instead of shutting down/restarting, can you try the FOLLOWING:
Choose Run in the start menu, and enter CMD
Enter IPCONFIG /DNSFLUSH
This clears the DNS cache.
In my case, it helps.

I am using win xp PRO and when I have a Wardpad Document open and I CLICK on the Minimize Tab it goes down on the Taskbard.

Then I can open another program up and Minimize that to and it also will go down to the Taskbard as well.

But if I go to cklick on say the Wardpad Document on the Taskbar it does come back up. But then if I Exit out of it the other program that was down on the Taskbard also closses as well.

I need the SOFTWARE to install an OLD palm pilot on my new computer. It's the Palm Pilot made by 3Com, very early model, no roman NUMERALS after the Palm Pilot NAME.

I had uninstalled a bunch of programs in an effort to solve my last problem of low disk space.  It SEEMS that I deleted Adobe Reader and WHATEVER programs it NEEDED to work.  I am trying to re-download Adobe but it gets to a point where it tries to remove an old version of Adobe but cannot find it...

DanielleIt works but each time I try to open the chart, it takes about 20 seconds while Upgrading Java Applet Cache.  Would downloading a different version avoid this happening each time the application is opened?

If so, will it automatically update from this version or do I have to manually uninstall old versions?

Java is a separate program, so uninstalling OO shouldn't bother Java.

We have a Toshiba laptop P200. Upon shutting down the blue power button is still on and won't go out, even after unplugging the machine. Now it won't boot up, all we have is a blank creen and the blue light.Any ideas where the blue light is? (what it may represent)

What were you doing before this? (hardware changes, downloads, installations, software changes, etc....)

When you press the power button, EXACTLY what happens?Does the blue light go off if you hold down the power button for 5+ seconds?  What if you remove the battery?

If this copy of CS3 was downloaded illegally from Limewire or such, you are possibly suffering from a virus.  The program is absolutely worth its high price.  The overhead necessary to produce CS3 was enormous.   I suggest that CS3 is the most powerful program available to the consumer for purchase.

I am runing win xp pro and just when into my Ad REMOVE Programs list and clicked on Ad Remove WINDOWS Componets.

I put a check marc in Fax SERVICES.
And when to install it and it asked me for my win CD  and I put it in and it installed it and all is ok.

And then I restarted my computer and when I go into controle panel and Printers and Fax  I just SEE a Printer Icone no Fax Icone.
And when I go ijnto what I want to Fax I go to File then Send To  but the only things here are.....Send to Mail...Send to Short cut

The software is used to make your computer ACT like a fax but you need the fax/modem and the phone line just like a fax machine.

They have some on line services you could use for faxing.

I have Microsoft Office Pro 2003. When I clicked on the WORD icon to open up a new document today, I noticed that there were no SPACES between the three pages of data that I had pasted on it. Just dotted lines that signified what I guess you would call a page break.

Let me see if I can explain that better. It used to be that when I opened up Word to start a new document, there was one white page displayed with a colored border all the way around it. I don't know where that border or color comes from or how to change the color. I just see it in front of me.

Then, after I finish typing on page 1, Word automatically brings up page two, but there's a good quarter inch of space between the two pages and I can EVEN see that color I mentioned.

Obviously something is wrong and either there's a setting somewhere that will restore it to the way I described above or I'll have to run a repair installation on Office, maybe even an uninstall and reinstall.

I am using Outlook Express, How do I CC (Carbon Copy)? Do I just use a SPACE in between the two email's or do I use a coma or what should I use to KEEP the two email's separate? I know how to CC one email but never done it with more then one. Recently my .net framework stopped working and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it multiple times but to no avail.  I asked about getting help for this problem earlier and somebody said something about being able to make a cd with the windows system restore on it.  If anybody could tell me how to go about that I WOULD appreciate it since I need .net framework to run alot of the applications I intend to use.

EDIT: I'm using vista by the way, forgot to include that. Sorry.Easiest way to make this would be to buy Ghost or another Drive Imaging utility. I use Norton Ghost 2003 for most of my ghosting of all systems including Vista systems. You have a number of choices of methods to create your image.

1.) You can create the image to CD's ( "Warning: will be MANY CD-R's 10+ for Vista")

2.) You can create the image on DVD-R's ( "Better than CD'sin the fact that you might end up with between 2 and 4 with a clean build of 8gb to 14gb, but you have to baby sit it and insert the next disk when the previous spanned image fills the disk.")

3.) You can send the image to an external hard drive and link via USB to make the image thats size can be as large as your entire hard drive is on your system, as long as the external has enough space to take a snapshot of your current drive in equal space. ( slower USB 1.1 can take hours for just an image of say 12gb )

4.) Best "FAST Image creation and Restores" method I have used for all my imaging needs is to take a second computer and set it up as a image file server. Peer to Peer the systems up over a network connection by use of the Ghost Peer to Peer package, which will link your computer to the image file server from PC DOS which also comes along with Ghost 2003. Set the static IPs of these 2 systems to see each other and then select your image from a list of available images to restore or push an inage to the image file server at fast speeds that are only limited by your network connection and drive performance....

*** NOTE: You may have to hunt around online for NDIS2 DOS Packet Drivers for your Network adapters chipset to have a network link in DOS. Some chipsets are a needle in a hay stack trying to find NDIS2 Packet Drivers... Easiest way to get through this issue would be to buy 2 cheap on ebay or elsewhere Intel Pro 100 Managed PCI network adapters with the Intel GD82559 or 82559 chipset. *Ghost comes bundled with some drivers, and this network adapter is supported. The other network adapter I have had good luck with is also another older NIC, but a 3Com PCI adapter with the 3C90x or 3C905 chipset... Other chipsets are also supported, and you can look through teh drop down list of available drivers bundled with Ghost 2003, but with Ghost 2003, you have to remember that this software is 5+ years OLD, so you will likely have to use older network adapters to create the link or maybe you will be lucky and your NIC supports another chipsets instruction set etc.

*** Note: The newer versions of Ghost with exception to the expensive corporate editions no longer have this network imaging solution. They took away this powerful tool and bundled it with the corporate or enterprise version now for image distributions to multiple workstations concurrently vs just a peer to peer.

The alternative to ghosting is the MS Backup method bundled with windows in which you include the system state as part of the backup, but it has not been as reliable as ghost, so I use ghost.

I was wondering if anyone out there was a guru in MS-WORD in regards to the Find/Replace function. I want to go through an entire manual and format the names of buttons to be bolded.
In other WORDS, wherever there is a word in front of the word "button", it should automatically be in bold. EXAMPLE: Delete button
Is there anyway to set that command up via the Find/Replace function in MS-Word 2007?

JenNot that I know of, but I believe you can use the entire phrase. ie find "delete button" replace with "delete button"I believe she means she has various words associated with button, not just Delete.  Anyway, this will not work; Word will not allow setting different FORMATS (one bold, one regular) for different words in a Replace command setup.

I'm at a loss about this one.  I installed the latest REAL Player Gold (10?) and then uninstalled it thru the Control Panel.  Then I deleted folders and ran a couple of registry cleaning programs to get rid of the rest.  Then I rebooted.  That was yesterday.

Since then, at startup and every minute or two, WinPatrol Alert gives me the new auto Startup Program alert for realsched.exe (which goes along with TkBell), followed by an instruction page (not helpful) in my browser.  Here's what I've done:

- I've searched registry entries and files for these and Real Player with two or three registry editing and file management programs and deleted everything, including from Startup (msconfig), but at least one TkBell/"C:\Programs\Common Files\realsched.exe - osboot" entry keeps replacing itself in both the registry and startup.* 

- I tried renaming the files, then dropping the file names entirely, as well as deleting just the data entries, but the entries keep coming back (located in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run and startup). 

- I've tried both of these steps several times with immediate restarts in between, but nothing works.  That suggests there's something else left which is generating the problem, but darn if I know what it is.

I know these are harmless entries in the malware sense, but there's no reason (other than Real Player's bad will) that these should still be around.  If anyone has an idea that sounds like something I haven't tried, I'd be grateful to hear it.  This is a single user XP/SP3 system.


* There are three registry entries in binary that have realsched.exe, but finding the realsched.exe sequence is too difficult with regedit.  They are located in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet (and ContrlSet002 and 006) \Control\SessionManager\AppCompatibility.  I've deleted them from RegSeeker and they come back every time.  Download HijackThis:

I'm have a technician tool I'm working on for our onsite technicians.  One of the things we WANT to do is gather general system data on machines we work on using the software I'm creating.  The easiest way I've found to do this is to run the command line for System Info to export the SysInfo data to a CSV file.  The problem is I can't seem to figure out how to append this to an EXISTING spreadsheet without doing it manually.  Is there a command line feature that can append a csv to an xls spreadsheet or MS Access DB Table?  Or is there a freeware tool anyone knows of that I could EASILY integrate?  Unfortunately any components I've found to grab system info that I can import into a VB project only seem to grab HDD, Physical Memory Usage/Total, and CPU Usage/Total.  I'd like to have alot more info than this.

Recently had a computer crash and upon reboot got error of problem with display driver. uninstalled and then reinstalled driver. When BOOT up normally at some point display starts to go blank then reappear. at times upon reappearing the computer freezes up and the only WAY out is too do a hard shut down. I have a 2-hour family video taken by our video camcorder. The video has about 30 minutes part that the film content is shaking (due to the shaking hand of my SON who took the video). Is there a video editing program that can correct or repair this shaking part of the video so that it can become steady? I heard that some new video editing software have effects that can correct and/or repair shaking video films. Please GIVE advice or technical assistance how I can resolved this problem. Hello, I recently downloaded a trial version of "Dutch Duck Utilities for Internet Explorer", an saved history TEXT files so that I could simply upload them and view them later on.

However, my trial went away, and I now have "Dutch Duck Cache and History Reader".  When I use this program and try to upload my history text files, it says that: "The string was not recognized as a valid Date Time.  There is a unknown word starting at INDEX 0."

Now I think that this is because the old version produced a log in a different format, because if I upload a history text file from the "Dutch Duck Cache and History Reader", its format is different compared to the one for "Dutch Duck Utilities for Internet Explorer". 
 
There are THOUSANDS of files for this, I can't simply correct each of them one by one lol.  Is there any program that will fix this file format for me, or anything I can do, like JIT debugging or something?

However, you could move folders to other folders, thereby creating sub-folders.  For example, if Nike is a SHOE sponsor, why not move your Nike folder to your Shoe Sponsor folder, making Nike a sub-folder of Shoe Sponsor?

okay, so i have this sort of old computer, 2002 XP, that just has GAMES on it. i have ANOTHER for everything else. but this computer holds all my Sims 2 games, and i know that takes up a lot of room but, anyhow. my computer monitor is a really old one, the old box kind. It's a Compaq one, with the big speakers on the sides. now, when i loaded the Sims 2, the screen was going really weird, it was flickering and it had double of the same thing, or SOMETIMES triple. the mouse pointer was a SQUARE with some colours. the sound was fine, but the screen was so bad i couldn't even play if i wanted to put up with it. the colours were kind of wonkey too.
i tried playing another game, and it did the same thing. and the computer screen when it's on the desktop is fine, except a few times it froze on me when i pressed start, and then clicked away, the start menu would still be there.

sorry if i'm absolutely terrible at describing what is going on, but i'm trying my best.
i just want to know if i have to go out and buy a new monitor or if it's a graphic card or whatever...
any help would be greatly appreciated. if  everything else seems to work fine outside of the sims, you proably need a new graphics card.Is it possible you can borrow another monitor?

when i try to UPDATE to IE7 ,SETUP does not starts and ERROR messege comes "SETUP COULD NOT VERIFY THE INTEGRITY OF THE FILES NEEDE FOR INSTALLATION.MAKE SURE THE CRYPTOGRAPHIC SERVICE IS RUNNING ON YOUR COMPUTER".  i have checked out on my system and verified that cryptographic service is  on and  is automatic. In most games I play, at random times, textures start to stretch and continue to INFINITY.  Here's a PIC of what it looks like.  This is not my pic but the problem is the same.

Intel Core 2 CPU 6420 2.13x2 GHz
3.00 GB Ram

Most importantly, I think - ATI Radeon X1950 Pro VIDEO card

I uninstalled the drivers and got the latest ones from their website, but the issue was not resolved.  Is this a driver issue, or is this a hardware issue?
Any help would be appreciated because this makes many games unplayable at times when the GLITCH takes up the whole screen.

I am using Ghost 2002. I'm trying to make the bootdisk that will connect two computers in order to re-image.

The drivers I need are not native to this VER. of Ghost. Therefore I have to create a new driver template:

When I follow the interactive tutorial instructions, everything is fine except the FACT that when I go to "Add" a new driver template (the point at which one imports their NIC driver(s) during this template CREATION process),  the Ghost program will NOT read the driver file from my HDD. As a matter of fact, my machine won't either, unless I open the driver FOLDER in an Explorer window. Strange.

If.....IF........the Ghost program would only "see" the driver either from my HDD (WINNT/sytem32/drivers/cw10.sys) or from the install CD that came with the Dlink wireless NIC cards...

I'm using MS-DOS. Not PC-DOS for these boot disks.

Win2kPro is running on 2 machines , 98SE on a third box.
Dlink DWL-650 PCMCIA's
I'm using the "802.11 Ad-Hoc" protocol.
What your missing is the driver. Your using the driver that WINDOWS knows not what 'DOS' knows, try searching the manufactures website for a dos based driver and then adding that to your image.

Hello All (First Time POSTER Here);

I was wondering how to perform an action in Microsoft Word 2002.  I am making a QUIZ. i began with the key in the form numbered list = questions followed by bold left justified for the answer then a blank line and repeat to create the quiz.

I am now trying to remove the answers to make the student viewable quiz.  I would like to LEAVE all of the spacing the same EG: I want there to be 4 blank lines if that is waht the text answer originally took up.  Basically I want to remove the answer text without changing the spacing.  Right now I have converted the answer STYLE "Bold, justified" to "Bold, Justified, White".  When I print the document the answers do not show up on the white paper, but the ink is still being used (I think).  Anyway i simply want the answer text done.

This is a very long quiz and would take a LOT of time to delete and re-space by hand.

Any Help is appreciated.

It seems I cant burn audio CD's either, I get this error when using Starburn.....

For audio cd's, I am assuming you're making regular music cd's that can be played in a standalone cd player. Try using windows media player or ITunes to try to burn them to see if it works.

Hello, I love trying new software utilities; often deleting them and trying new ones. One of them had an option of automatically maximizing every web page I opened. Now, I can't stop it and it's very annoying. Is their someone who can resolve this for me? It waould be appreciated. NOTE: I have Windows XP - SP2 running on a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop. Thank you.Wait, what exactly is the problem?What program is it? Can't you uninstall it?I am no longer sure as to what utility I installed and SUBSEQUENTLY uninstalled that I used the option: each web page that opens, my laptop displays them in maximized view. This simply means that I have to push F11 in order to have a normal display with my taskbar and TOOLBAR to be present.  I apologize if my conveyance of my problem was unclear.  Oh ok, F11 = Fullscreen.

Open Internet Explorer, get out of Full Screen.
Hold the CTRL key while going to File --> Exit.
Now re-open the browser and see what happens.

I guess this is just one of those quirky things we have to live with until the day comes where is corrects itself or I run across info that will cure it. I recently reformatted and downloaded my sound drivers, Creative Sound Blaster Audigy. They appear to be updated since I last installed. I've come across two problems with it THOUGH and I'm not sure if it's the new drivers fault or something on my end. When I OPEN Volume Control the microphone appears to be unmuted but I can't hear myself so that's fine, except if I need to test my mic volume I can't do it this way anymore. The second problem is when I click Advanced and GO to the Microphone +20dB Boost option. As soon as I close the settings it resets and does not stay checked. Same with the Microphone Mute. It does not stay checked also. Not sure what I can do. I can't seem to find any old drivers either. Any help?Have you tried reinstalling the drivers? Has anyone come across software that will allow me to run training sessions to multiple sites from my HQ that won't cost me the earth? I have no problem in the end user PAYING some sort of FEE as their value would be in the 'free' training that is being offered.

Most applications/service providers seem to charge a fortune on the premise that it reduces site visits for sales people. Which is tosh if you simply want to service your existing customers with training - as in my case.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've used Go To Meeting to hold training sessions for my clients. It's Citrix-based so it works with all browsers, and as TOOLS go, it's reasonably priced.

A professional association I belong too uses AccuConference to hold webinars. I'm not sure how much their fee is, but professional associations don't have a lot of money to spend, usually.

I'm not affiliated with either company ASSOCIATED with these tools. I'm a training consultant who must help my clients determine appropriate strategies to accomplish their training goals.
