Solve : CD/DVD Drive Acting Weird.?

Answer»

Ok, I have a Pioneer Dvd-Rw DVR-112D and it's ACTING so strange. I built a new computer and I have everything plugged in and installed correctly. I even used the CD drive to install windows xp pro. But when I try to put in CDs for games or blank cds/dvds it will not read it. It's a DVD-RW burner and everything. All the drivers are updated, i just have ran out of ideas. Any help?Place one of the game Cd's/DVDs into the drive > Right click drive/ left click explore, does it now let you see the contents of the CD/DVD? Have you also set the option which allows a DVD/CD to auto start?I did the right click/ then explore and none of the contents showed up. And I am not sure if I have set the auto start. How do I do that?Optical drives don't need any extra drivers.

Try to uninstall drive through Device Manager. Restart, and Windows will reinstall it.That still doesnt work. I hate this drive. It's a Pioneer DVR-112D.Try one of these:
1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
or...
2. http://aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip
or...
3. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
You'll see two items:
- ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
- ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstal. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.I used Step 2 and that didn't work. I tried step three but there wasnt a ATA Channel0 or Channel1Under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers in device manager - What do have LISTED?

Are you ABLE to try this DVD-RW in another computer?Quote

I tried step three but there wasnt a ATA Channel0 or Channel1
If Windows XP, that would be Primary, and Secondary Channel.Quote from: Broni on July 18, 2008, 09:18:24 AM

I found Primary, and Secondary Channel and I un-installed them and restarted. The system message said they re installed and work properly but the CD drive still doesn't work.Your best bet would be to try this drive in another computer.

Solve : Shock?

Answer»

When I touch the back of my computer I get a mild shock why? Just started about a day ago.hmmm...lose wire in your machine is causing your machine case to be live?

is this a desktop we're talking about?YesI could be a loose wire or your system isn't grounded right.

Did you make any changes in the LAST few days? Added any new things like a printer? Are you using a surge protector? How old is it?

Yes added a printer and a scanner. Also just noticed 3rd prong on EXTENSION cord is broken off. About 3yrs oldi GUESS you could try changing the extension cord. Is everything at the back of the machine properly connected?

try unplugging everything, then replugging them in.

you say you're getting a mild shock. Is it attracting you or repelling you? To test if the safety hazard remains, i suggest plucking a strand of hair, and holding it close to the machine, watching closely to see if the hair is attracted to the machine, or repelled by it.RepellingQuote from: judy196 on July 17, 2008, 08:25:58 AM

Yes added a printer and a scanner. Also just noticed 3rd prong on extension cord is broken off. About 3yrs old

If the third (ground) prong is missing, then your computer isn't grounded properly and this is most likely why you're getting shocked. I've seen this a lot where I live (in Thailand) because building wiring often does not include ground lines. Quite often an ungrounded computer will give you anything from a slight buzz to a stinging shock if you touch metal parts of the case when it isn't grounded properly. Changing your extension cord should stop this problem. Try that first, and if it doesn't help, we'll move on to other things.oh yes, that would explain the shock.

neutral wire is bottom left, live wire is bottom right, and earth/ground wire is top. At least that's the case for most 3-pin PLUGS from where i am.

if i were you, i'd replace the extension cord. Don't ever use a plug which is either not wired properly, not tightened enough, and definitely not when a prong is broken. Unless you enjoy the stinging sensation of an electric shock that is...I changed extension cord and it stopped shocking me. So that must have been it. THANK You for all your help.Figured that what it would be. Glad that fixed it for you, Judy.

Solve : In the Green Corner!?

Answer»

I hope this is in the right forum, as checking with the below does not show any virus/maleware problems?
My monitor screen has changed to a hue of green in the extreme bottom right (As looking at the screen) corner. Does this mean that I need to start looking for a new monitor or can it be adjusted? It is about three quarters of an inch along the Taskbar.
The Monitor is an Elonex.

I have:
Win XP PRO Sp2
Avira anti virus
Online Armor firewall
WinPatrol
Spyware Blaster
Super Anti Spyware
A Squared
Malewarebytes
CCleanerCan you try another monitor first?
OR
Try the monitor on another computer?I can try another monitor on Sunday, can't get out to borrow one TILL then! But will phone around and try and get someone to bring one over. I will post again when I have tried that (good COMMON sense and I should have thought of it!) idea.
Thanks.I think it's a problem with the monitor but it could be a video card problem.
My money is on the monitor.EMI (electromagnetic interference) could be the problem. Do you have any other electronic devices close to the monitor? Try moving them away.See if there's a button you can press to "degauss" the monitor -- this relieves/resets electromagnetic buildups which sometimes affect the display. I don't think this will solve the problem, but you can at least try this, perhaps.Quote

Do you have any other electronic devices close to the monitor? Try moving them away.
If it is an LCD, the effects are minimal or they take quite some time to affect. Also, they need to be pretty close to the monitor (pretty much touching it).

If this is a CRT Monitor, this may be the problem, but doesn't it turn it pink?

EDIT: Aegis you posted before I did. Just a normal monitor. I can't see any degas button. There is no change to what has been around the monitor for three months. All that is near it electrically is the Orange Livebox for Broadband and the telephone connected to that. I might be able to get hold of a different monitor to try tomorrow and will post the result. Thanks for the replies.I borrowed another monitor to try and It worked fine. So as suggested the problem is the monitor. Hopefully get another one SOON. Thanks again for the help.Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on JULY 21, 2008, 12:16:54 PM

Solve : Hooking Up Onboard Sound?

Answer»

I just put together a new PC and the motherboard came with onboard SOUND that is labeled different than I have ever seen before. The WIRING in my case is labeled ( Ground, Return L, Return R, Spkrout L, SpkrOut R, Mic In, Mic Bias)

The labeles on the new motherboard are (Port1L, Port1R, Port2R, Sense_Send, Port2L, Ground, Presence#, Sense1_Ret, Sense2_Ret)

Which connectors go where?

Before anyone flames me... I know Ground goes to Ground. Can't help you. Have you gone to the case MANUFACTURER's site and the motherboard manufacturer's site to look for the answer? Maybe a forum there?

Best of LUCK!

Solve : Could a 1.6 processor be faster than a 1.8??

Answer»

Here's a question a friend of mine asked this MORNING: "My daughter bought her laptop from the Bookstore over a month ago. She got a call today from the Senior Buyer of the bookstore, who told her that HP had accidentally sent them 10 laptops with 1.8 speed processors RATHER than the 1.6 called for in the specs. They are giving her two options: (1) keep the laptop she has with 1.8 processor and they will send her a check for $200, or (2) send it back at their expense and they will send her the correct laptop with the 1.6 processor.

She asked the difference between the 1.6 and the 1.8 and the Senior Buyer told her the 1.6 processor is faster. That seems counterintuitive to me, but I know next to nothing about the innards of a computer. "

Well, I know a little more than my friend, but that just sounds WEIRD to me. Unless it has something to do with something other than the CPU?Is the Processor the only difference between the laptops? Some laptop providers tend to offer laptops with faster processors but lack other resources i.e. higher or lower hard drive or RAM memory capacities.Yes, knowing the RAM of the laptops would be useful in the decision here but it really depends on what you are planning to do on the laptops.
If you are working with Videos, Image Manipulation or Games, you will need all the processing power you can get.
If you are just planning on USE the INTERNET word documents or mspaint, 1.6 GHz would be all right.
I myself have a 1.7 GHz laptop (I'm using it right now) and it works pretty well with games. Quote from: jimflint1 on July 22, 2008, 03:15:33 PM

She asked the difference between the 1.6 and the 1.8 and the Senior Buyer told her the 1.6 processor is faster. That seems counterintuitive to me, but I know next to nothing about the innards of a computer. "

Everything else equal and assuming that 1.6 and 1.8 refer to processor speed, and, further assuming that the senior buyer said that the 1.6 processor (not the 1.6 computer) is faster than the 1.8 processor, it's not only counterintuitive, but wrong. Having said that, my hunch is that the story got twisted in the re-tellings and HP shipped 1.6 processors and sold them as 1.8.

Seems to me that the question is: "Does this laptop do everything that I want it to do and quickly enough that I am satisfied with it?" If the answer is, "Yes," I would take the money and run! The speed difference between the 1.6 and 1.8 will be almost imperceptible doing most tasks.

Best of luck to your friend's daughter!

Thanks for all your comments! In addition to the above comments it depends on the actual CPUs . . . HP may be offering a 1.8 single core or a 1.6 dual core.
If they only mentioned the CPU, the logical conclusion is that the rest of the hardware is the same.Quote from: Calum on July 23, 2008, 06:20:06 AM

Good point, I didn't consider dual core 1.6 v single core 1.8.

Somehow, I still think that the story got twisted by the time it got to jimflint1, however.

Elaborate more about computer being slow.Hi. Thanks for being patient with me. i already have ccleaner and i run it periodically. By slow i mean that if compared to older versions of Dell (like inspiron 1300 ?) with RESPECT for example to opening word programme my computer takes longer. keeping in mind that the above mentioned Dell has LOWER processor and RAM. Also in opening wep pages my laptop takes longer than that one. This is to mention only a few. What are the specs of other computer?
How are things in Safe Mode?
Have you noticed a difference after updating to AVG ver. 8.0, or you didn't have earlier version installed?Well, am not quite sure about the specs of the other laptop. I do not think that the AVG is the reason because i tried to stop the programme and to check the speed i found it to be the same, only a slight change in speed. About SAFEMODE i dont think i understand you, will you plz clarify more. Even, if you exit AVG, some services may be still running.
They shouldn't be running in Safe Mode. To access Safe Mode, restart computer, and keep tapping F8 key, until menu is shown.HI, I tried the safe mode but i noticed it to be even slower than the normal way. in running applications like the MS Word programme it took longer to open. similarly with other programmes.Did you run defrag recently?yes i ran defrag recently. it took so long to complete. still no change.Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas here, unless you have some hardware problem.
It wouldn't hurt to run hard drive diagnostic tool.

they can run between 50% and 150% of there specified voltage.

where did you get these numbers?

I got it from the book "Intermidiate Robot Building" by Dave Cook visit his website at www.robotroom.com nominal voltage is key important when it comes to selecting a motor for your robot, you have to select one that doesnt take to much amps and one that is close to the supply voltage from the robot(eg. supply voltage: 9Vs nominal voltage of 12v motor: min(50%):6V max(150%):30V)

I Build scratch built robots and Lego mindstorms, programming on a computer and playing on a computer are not wat i always do.

So the nominal voltage is were i got the numbers and the nominal voltage i got from reading "Intermidiate Robot Building"Robot motors and fans aren't exactly the same thing...

Yes, a robot motor that e.g. actuates a limb would be rated for short term service (start-stop) where you can tolerate BRIEF overcurrents whereas a motor for a fan is running all the time.thats true but there still motors.Quote
I was reiterating that he doesn't need a wall wart, he can get 12v DC from a Molex (disc drive) power connector.

why are you telling me all of this? i have been in the hardware forum longer then you have. also, if you have read any of my previous posts, you should get the idea that i know what i am talking about with regards to computers and electrical APPLICATIONS. all that being said, im offended that you had this misconception that i didnt know comp PSU's could supply 12VDC.

not all motors are the same. there are continuous duty motors and non-continuous duty motors. fans have to be designed to be continuous because they are on for the duration of the computer being on. on the other hand, a motor in a robot could be rated as a non-continuous motor because, as dias said, it is not running all the time.Quote from: homer on July 22, 2008, 05:14:49 PM

Solve : Power Supply for Video Card + HDD Swap?

Answer»

Hey,

Hopefully the last part of this overly long topic.

I got a GeForce 6800 GS video card. Only my computer is a Shuttle XPC SS51G v2.0 like on http://eu.shuttle.com/archive/en/ss51g_faq.htm. Its only got a 200W power supply, and i heard that the card requires a 350W power supply. Even more specifically i heard it needs 18A on the 12V Line.

The best i had was to switch the video card and hdd over to a standard tower PC. Only, this brought up two problems. The tower PC's power supply is still only 300W with 15A on the 12V line. The second problem being that i don't know how to switch the hdd's.

For the power supply i heard that the 300W might work. I intend to use it for dual monitors, and nothing else really. I'm not really much of a gamer. I just want to know if it will work, and if there's anything else i need to do to make it work.

For the hdd's i don't mean i don't know how to take it out. It's just since Windows doesn't let you simply swap hdd's, that i was WONDERING what the proper method is. Or if there even is one.

Thanks guysPut the Shuttle MB into the tower and you won't need to worry.

EDIT: Don't skimp on power.I started off thinking this was an ok idea, so i'd been waiting until i had a chance to make the switch. Which ended up last night. I realised, though, that although the shuttle motherboard can fit into the tower, the tower motherboard, of course, is not going to fit into the shuttle.

I hadn't thought to mention that i need both operational at the end of this. Sorry. Happen to have any other good ideas?

Also, i of course realise that it's not the best idea to skimp on the power, but will it work? To what degree will it hurt things, or slow the computer down?I'm sure that you could have a problem putting the tower MB into the Shuttle.

If you need both computers, assuming that they both work now (but, I'm confused about the harddrives), put the video card into the tower and replace the power supply.

No - it won't work if you are underpowered; not a matter of "slowing the computer down" - it just won't work. If it boots, it will be subject to a multitude of errors.

The thing with the hard drives is that the tower isn't actually my computer. I managed to convince a friend to let me swap computers since they have essentially the same specs. The only thing is that they want to KEEP their hard drive because it's larger than mine, as well as they want to keep all of their information intact. So, somehow i need to swap them without losing anything on their hdd.

Also, why i ask with the power supply is because before i knew i needed a larger one, i ran the video card on my shuttle. And it worked. Of course i pulled it out so it wouldn't hurt anything once i found out, but i've been wondering why it worked if it's not suppose to.

Assuming i can't use my 300w power supply- which it would still be really nice if i could- i'd like to make sure i get a power supply that will work properly. So here's one that i found, and if you could tell me if it will work, that would be great. Now, it is a cheapy off ebay, because i enjoy ebay and i'm a very cheap man. Aside from that, however, do you see any problems with it?

The card's power draw is a function of how hard it is being utilized - if you were just doing non-intensive computer tasks, I'm not surprised that "it worked." The card's power consumption will increase greatly when gaming. I haven't verified the power requirements that you referenced, but, I would not be surprised if the video alone DRAWS 70-100 watts when pushed.

You can use any PSU that you want - just be aware that the unit will 'crap out' if the system is underpowered.

As for the referenced PSU, "cheapy" is good for lots of things (and that PSU fits the bill!) but, "Cheapy" does not work for PSU's; one more time, "Cheapy" does not work for PSU's - there are two parts to purchasing a PSU: a) specs and b) reputable manufacturer. You must have both - if you don't have the second, you don't have the first.

My advice is to verify the power requirements of the video card, and, if necessary, buy a properly spec'd PSU from a reputable manufacturer. OCZ, Antec, Sparkle, among others are reputable manufacturers and their products will meet the specs claimed for them. Okia (the Ebay link) is not on anyone's list of 'quality' manufacturers.

Best of luck.I'm still stunned and amazed that PSU's get scrimped on.....it's kinda an important component.
People will do a self-built and spend $1500.00 Bucks and throw a twenty dollar PSU in it and wonder why things are bad.

Done with mini-rant...sorry.Alright alright, i can get a better psu.

How do I confirm the requirements, though. I'm easily finding sites that say i need a 350W power supply, but i'm not sure about the 18A thing anymore. I had found it easily before, but after a somewhat more lengthy search, i only found this site http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=20377 that has it in the second post.
So, i really don't know, does that sound reasonable, HIGH, low? Because assuming i'm thinking about this right, 70-100 watts, like you posted, would only be around 7A from the +12V... i'm not sure that's how you calculate it properly.Quote from: Anythingwill on July 18, 2008, 04:21:06 PM

I was guessing on the 70-100 but did read that the card takes 70 watts max. P = I x E. Power (watts) = current (amps) x volts, so, the power for the card alone is ≈6 amps. Virtually all of the rest of the computer's significant components also draw from the 12 V rail(s). Please don't 'arithmetic' yourself out of a new power supply - or do it right and list each of your power using components, look up their max power requirements and add them up.

Based on a quick Google search, it looks like the min recommended PSU for the 6800 GS is 350 watt and 18 amp on the 12 V side- that would be a 350 watt unit from a good manufacturer!

Back to the issue at hand - I assume that you are going to consummate the swap of the Shuttle for the Tower. Further, I assume that you each intend to keep your respective harddrives; BE ADVISED, your harddrive probably will not boot the Tower and vice versa. You will (each) need to load the appropriate motherboard drivers before you can get satisfactory performance. You may need to re-install Windows.

Keep us posted!

Solve : Dvd drive and .net framework?

Answer»

I've got to seperate problems, one is hardware and one is sort of hardware/software issues.
The first one is my dvd drive. Just a day or so ago it was working fine and it would recognize games and dvd's once I put them in with no problems. Now though it doesn't show up in my computer at all, not even the drive logo. I haven't changed any of my hardware lately so I'm not sure what would bring this on. Are there some settings I can change to make it recognize the discs?
The second problem is relating my zune mp3 player and .net FRAMEWORK. A while ago my zune software stopped working and I couldn't update the mp3 player. I contacted microsoft support and the guy on the phone told me to change file names in the .net framework FOLDERS, then try to reinstall the software. After I changed the names to what he told me too, the install would get errors halfway through and close. Once I told him that, he promptly ended the call and I'm stuck without .net framework and still a useless zune lying around. I'm not sure what the original file names were so I'm unable to change them back myself. Is there any WAY I can get .net framework up and running again? I can't reinstall windows because I don't have the discs. The person I bought this computer from didn't include them and has since gone out of business, bad luck I guess.
This is all on windows vista if I forgot to mention that.

Thanks in advance for any help.As for getting back old .NET files, try System Restore.
If successful, uninstall all .NET instances through "Programs and Features", and install fresh copy.

As for DVD drive...
Try one of these:
1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
or...
2. http://aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip
or...
3. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
You'll see two items:
- ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
- ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstal. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.
NOTE: Try DVD drive fix AFTER using System Restore, REGARDING .NET files.

Solve : DVD ROM problem?

Answer»

I don't think computer specs are relevant in this issue.I have tried a variety of DVD movies in the DVD ROM of a DELL model WHL.The sound is perfect. All inserted DVDs play but show pixalated small blocks over the entire LCD monitor screen. They are all of the same size but the quantity of them varies as the video plays. There are sufficient numbers of them present to render watching the video very unsatisfactory. This computer when purchased (used) was packed with dust (looked like it had never been cleaned). Have obviously done a good cleaning.I also when i just tried for the 1ST time to play a DVD today and saw the problem did one liquid, brush cleaning disc operation.Disc played fine with accompanying audio instructions and disco type video animation (no distortion of sound and no pixalation of video). After cleaning tried a couple of DVDs with no improvement from original. Used both Windows media player and Power DVD with absolutely identical effects. My TENDENCY would be to SUSPECT a problem with the video laser reader of the drive--except for the fact that no pixalation or other distortion occurred while using the cleaning disc. Suggestions please, truenorthWhat kind of graphics card is on that computer? Have you tried updating the drivers/firmware? And have you updated all codecs? The latter is less likely to be an issue, but still worth a shot.FieldValue

CBMatt,Thanks for the reply.Above are the specs you requested. Updated=No (to all)
Just to clarify the appearance of my reference to pixalation= if you have seen "The Matrix" movie it is quite similiar to the streaming that is shown at the beginning of the movies of the cascading zeros and ones. Is it your suggestion to do an update on the Radeon drivers? truenorthSince having responded to CBMatt above more info is now available. From the ATI site i have installed the "Catalyst Software Suite V8.7 dated July 21/08 (and it's only July 15th)".No CHANGE from previous re the DVD performance. However my desktop and other visual things have changed substantially. It was also a requirement to use the video driver update that i needed to download and install".net framework 2.0" which i have done.truenorth
P.S. If a driver update for the Lite on ltd163 DVD rom is suggested i would really appreciate being directed to it as over 1 hour of searching has not found any.As far as I know, there aren't any drivers for your DVD-RW. You can check Dell for firmware (or you can also look here. There should be a section where you can enter your computer's model number and you will be presented with your various hardware and their accompanying downloads. Just be careful with firmware because if you flash a drive with the wrong one, the OS may not recognize it anymore.

I'm not sure how helpful it would be, but you could try installing a codec pack such as K-Lite. This may not be part of the problem, but it's worth trying.

You may also want to try uninstalling PowerDVD and reinstalling with the latest version (this should update your decoder file), and if necessary, update DirectX and Windows.CBMatt,Yes your right for all versions of XP no drivers are required--apparently they use windows xp software for that.I will try all of your other suggestions however in case it does make a difference.I am not terribly worried if nothing works as dvd -rw's are so cheap now i'll just replace it. I also have the option to change both units out to other computers to see if that resolves it. As well i can import another dvd-rom or rw into the DELL and see if they behave any differently. I will report back when i have completed the process one way or the other.thanks for the help. truenorthSounds like a great strategy to me. Be sure to let us know how it goes.

Solve : Power Connector help?

Answer»

I just saw on the net that SATA Hard Drive Powere cables are 15 Pin and a IDE power Cable is a 4. Pin

And that the extra PINS are for Voltage and you can buy an adaptor to turn the 15 Pin to a 4. Pin.

But the extra Pins will just be un used and the SATA Drive MAY not WORK.

So what do you do why do they sell the adaptors if they will just leave the extra Pins un used and the drive may not work??All I can come up with is... Incase you want to change from SATA to IDE and back again - That's my guess, but I have no idea.i have used a 4pin to 15pin SATA power cable adapter before and i have never had a problem. actually, i have never heard of DRIVES not working because of this. which make/model of drive(s) have you heard that dont work without the 3.3V terminals being hooked up?If the SATA Drive need 3.3V terminals then when you use the 4. Pin connector if these Lines are not used then why are they there if they are not used in the 4. Pin???Quote

then why are they there if they are not used in the 4. Pin???

to make them compatible with older PSU's. my guess is that the HD manufacturers simply incorporate a voltage divider circuit on the HD itself to supply the +3.3v off of the +5v.

Solve : wavy lines on older pc display?

Answer»

Not sure if this is the right place, but...

I have an older desktop pc that I'm trying to use with my interactive whiteboard. When I HOOK it up to any MONITOR the display has tiny, wavy lines - not new lines - just what is on screen seems to be moving...just slightly. (The desktop pic is fine...but the icons on the desktop show it - and it shows up in the programs.) It isn't really noticeable unless you look for it, that is, until you hook it up through a projector (via a long vga cord) and it is unbearable to look at.

I checked the System Information under Display and it had no info.

In the Device Manager there was one question MARK under Other Devices -> Video Controller (VGA Compatible) and it said there was a problem with the driver.

Is this the issue? Any advice on how to fix it? Or if I need to take it to someone who knows the "insides" of a computer better - could you help me know what to ask for?

(I'm thinking it might need a new video card - I don't need anything too FANCY just to project the display onto an interactive whiteboard, do I? Or would a better card make a difference in seeing the display that large?) [4 feet across]

Thanks for the assistance...Quote

Is this the issue? Any advice on how to fix it? Or if I need to take it to someone who knows the "insides" of a computer better - could you help me know what to ask for?
This is most likely the problem here.
Using Device Manager, find out the what the driver is and search for it on the Internet (or you can post it here and we can locate it for you).
It is an intel 82865G graphics card (64mb) and the driver now is 6.14.10.3722

I've searched around and found a couple of different possible driver updates - not sure which (or if) to try if they would make a difference.

Or I guess I just put in a simple/cheap but reliable graphics card? (Recommendations?)Download and install the driver for the right piece of hardware (exact model) and Operating System (Vista, XP, ect...)

I don't really have any recommendations on Graphics Cards though...Got the right driver from Intel - nothing changed.

Guess it must be hardware?

It doesn't do it during the start up menu or during the windows xp startup (black screens) but starts when windows says "welcome..." (blue screen)

It couldn't be a windows thing?

...and if I go to replace the video card can this be a do-it-yourself job?

Is the current graphics card "built-in" to the motherboard?
(Intel 82865G)

Or is this something a little beyond plugging a new card into a new slot?

Thanks for the help

Now that service packs have been APPLIED XP can see the WHOLE drive, allowing thquart to create another partition so it can be used.
Do you follow me?hmm, I was confusing the issue- I know what you mean now, I was confusing BIOS drive problems with OS Drive handling problems, or something. It's just a OS issue (as indicated by the SP fix) LIKE the FAT drive limit of 2GB (except the 128GB limit was an arbitrary limit in XP and not a Filesystem issue...)

Ah....... Recommended: (2.66ghz or higher)

That may be a problem here...That CPU is above the recommended specification by far, I'm more worried about your graphics card.
As your laptop has integrated graphics, the game will not run very well at all, it may not start and if it does it won't be playable.

No, I don't think so, SINCE sometimes the Touchpad works and sometimes it doesn't, and I didn't press any button at all...Is the laptop under warranty?

Solve : increase the memory of graphics card.?

Answer»

It's an example, purposely exaggerated.
Seriously though, if you can FIND a 6600GT, add a replacement cooling system, and then overclock it to match the performance of a newer card costing the same, I would be very surprised. Whatever you do, that card will not handle modern games.guess it's time for a new card.

again, check for COMPATIBILITY. Quote from: sr_nirma on July 18, 2008, 06:30:13 AM

Solve : Black screen?, 2x Radeon HD 4850 with Samsung syncmaster 204b LCD.?

Answer»

I just bought parts for a new computer that i built from scratch.

Not being an overly good computer builder, I encountered some errors along the way... not the least of which is the famed Black screen. The PC boots I think, and fans are going, sounds good, but the screen just stays black.. Tried both digital and analog cable, same result. Screen is black, a marker in upper left corner flicks between analog and digital for a few seconds.. then the screen goes into hibernation with the powerbutton blinking every second or so.

I have:
- 2X Radeon HD 4850 in crossfire mode. (tried removing the crossfire bridge, same result)
- Samsung Syncmaster 204b LCD screen
- Intel core quad prosessor
- Soundblaster soundcard
- 2x 2Gb Corsair DDR2 DIMM
- ASUS P5Q Motherboard
- Standard DVD writer and HDD.

Can anyone help out here? Possible solutions? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thomas

Try with the following:
One vid card only.
Remove the sound card.
1 stick of RAM only.

Also check to see if all MBoard standoffs were used and Thermal Compound was applied properly on the CPU/heatsink assembly...

Is this a brand new power supply ? ? If so make and wattage ? ?

Any beeps at bootup ? ?Ok, removed sound card, 1 RAM and one vid card. same result, also tried using my laptop as a screen, that didnt work EITHER.
Thermal paste was applied to the heatsink. properly or not....well... thin layer over the whole THING.

What do you mean Motherboard standoffs?

yes the powersupply is brand new, like everything else IM afraid.. Its an OCZ stealth extreme, 600W.

No beeps on bootup. Quote from: Rimrill on July 20, 2008, 10:59:01 AM

What do you mean Motherboard standoffs?

≈.5 inch long adapters to raise the motherboard AWAY from the case. You would install one at each hole in the case that matches a hole in the motherboard. These are ESSENTIAL to prevent shorting.

Solve : CMOS Checksum bad .... CMOS Battery low?

Answer»

After a "move" PC started and mouse did work but keyboard did not. Next day on start-up did not complete and request to press either F1 or F2 to continue (in different modes), but, the keyboard does not work and have confirmed WIRELESS keyboard operates fine. Does this mean a main battery replacement or? It's possible after the move the battery is not entirely seated.
I'd replace it anyways....part # CR 2032 available at any PC shop.

Make sure all power is removed and take anti static precautions whenever working inside the case.
Thanks for your reply, did replace battery, now only one message appears: CMOS checkum bad....ASKS Press F1 to run setup ....Press F2 to load default VALUES and continue... Problem still is that the keyboard does not work so unable to do any function as asked. Have confirmed keyboard OK, have tried another keyboard known also to be good (I use on another PC) but result same each time. Can anyone advise how to proceed? Thanks to all.Try the same with a PS2 keyboard...
This should allow you to get into setup.

I would then DLoad and run MemTest on that machine....you may have a bad stik of RAM.

Let it run a few hours...any error messages and it should be replaced.Quote from: patio on July 17, 2008, 03:44:33 PM

The key board is wireless and the plug-in item has a USB plug so I have to use an adaptor for the PC, no other way. Any follow up SUGGESTIONS? Am I having fun..........NO.Get a cheap (or borrow) PS/2 keyboard.

Enter BIOS Setup, enable BIOS defaults or set BIOS the way you want (if you don't know, use Defaults) and make sure that "Enable Legacy Support for USB,' or similar, is selected; "SAVE Changes" and exit. USB keyboard ought to work.Quote from: edzanz on July 20, 2008, 08:33:16 AM

Solve : Lack of available sound sources to record from?

Answer»

Greetings,

I am would like to RECORD the audio from a DVD into a new mp3 file; to do so, I have tried a few DIFFERENT programs which should do the job (all sound recorder XP, blaze media pro). Unfortunately, none of these programs seem to be able to detect the sound output from the computer (on my previous computer, I had the option "What you hear" when selecting the source to record from). The only available option is to have the program record from the microphone input. Essentially, I'm trying to do what's described here:

http://www.blazemp.com/convert_dvd_audio.htm

but I have no "wave", "stereo mix", "what you hear" or other sound source options.

I'm using a Gateway M6846 Notebook running 64-bit Vista Home. The sound seems to be integrated into the motherboard (not on a separate card?); in the devices folder the only thing listed under sound devices is "SigmaTel High Definition audio CODEC". If you need any other specifications, please let me know and I'll do my best to provide them.

I'm none too computer savvy so I can't diagnose the problem myself; is it possible that this particular audio codec SIMPLY doesn't allow for recording from different sources? If so, would it be possible to use a different driver?

Thanks in advance!

mabye you dont have the full version or something what you could try is http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and this http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&p=18962After some more research, I actually discovered the problem. A nice explanation can be found here in case anyone else has the same issue:

http://www.notebookforums.com/thread193323.html

Basically, Gateway is selling a bad PRODUCT. However, it may not be entirely their fault, as this problem is PRESENT in a number of other large brands (Dell, for example).

Looks like I'll be purchasing a nice sound card for my laptop.
@Motty: Thanks for posting back.

Solve : MY SOUND IS BROKEN! HALP!?

Answer»

I've been wrestling (quite literally) with my laptop computer to get it's sound to work for almost a month now and seek to fix it once and for all.

Essentially the sound on my computer will either cut out or become extremely crunchy and then cut out. To fix it, I found that if I press down on CERTAIN areas around the keyboard that the sound will often temporarily come back. Sometimes it lasts for as long as I hold my palm in place (I've now escalated to using a clamp...) and sometimes it'll last anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour.

I've been under the impression that the issue is with my SOUNDCARD, but to be honest have no clue about anything when it comes to computers.

What do I do, computer gurus?

I'm not an expert by any means, but does your keyboard have buttons to control sound, music/video playback, etc.? If so, it might be a problem with the wiring inside the keyboard RELATED to that (loose/bad CONNECTION, broken wire, etc.). My first (non-expert) suggestion would be to connect a different keyboard and see how the sound works. If that fixes it, you may have found the problem.Quote

I've been wrestling (quite literally) with my laptop computer

read posts carefully before responding.

loose wires could be the problem, if you have a warranty, you can ask the tech shop to diagnose your machine's hardware, be it wires, circuit BOARDS, or sound cards.Oops! I ready everything carefully except the part about it being a laptop...

Solve : No beep, but starts up correctly (I think)?

Answer»

I RECENTLY built my own computer for the first time (a graphics card update snowballed into a new machine), and it seems to have gone well except that when I start up there is no beep. Everything seems to start up and function normally other than that. I think I got a beep the first time or two I started up, but then it stopped. I think it stopped after installing the OS (first XP Pro, then the upgrade to Vista Ultimate), though I can't say for sure.

Is it a problem that there is no beep? Is there something (setting or hardware, etc.) that I should check? Again, at this point I can't find anything that isn't recognized or isn't functioning correctly. I'm just not getting that beep that I have come to expect.

OS: Vista Ultimate
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz
Motherboard: ASUS P5Q
RAM: 4 GB (Yes, I know it doesn't recognize all of it.)
PSU: 500 W
Graphics: Palit nVidia GeForce 8800GT 1 GB Sonic

THANKS.To my guess... the beep was there only in the beginning because it was probably installing the drives and new software and stuff.
It's just a beep anyway.
If your computer runs perfectly fine then who needs that beep?
Beep or no beep, computer runs and that's all you basically need. What you gonna do with that beep lol. Beep omg it's a bomb it's a bomb.
Alright sorry, but that's all I got.I assume that the system is working okay. The beep, or 'no beep,' comes from the BIOS. See which BIOS you have and check their site for beep codes, or try your motherboard maker's site.

It looks to me as if you have an AMI BIOS, in which case beeps are for errors only: http://www.ami.com/support/bios.cfm, click on first link.

Best of luck with your new system! Thanks for the replies.

It is AMI, so I guess no beep is a good thing!

>Best of luck with your new system!

I can play games with settings on high now...uh, I mean, I can get work done a lot faster now! Check you motherboard book, and see if you have the INTERNAL speaker connected properly. You may just need to move it over ONE or two pins.

As always, make sure you are grounded before touching any internal components.

I need help. Try to run your computer in safe mode, by pressing F8 key as soon as you boot your computer. Then, try changing power options in
START --- SETTINGS ---- CONTROL PANEL --- POWER OPTIONS.
I think power OPTION for monitor is set to 1 or 2 minutes.

If it didn't work, try changing your display settings.Just to make sure check the cable is plugged into the back of the pc - plus check if the tower has another monitor port.

I had a Hp a few years back which came with on board graphics i later installed a new video card, i remeber taking the pc places and after a few mins of fiddleing about relizsing that i had it plugged in the wrong port.

Check your monitor manual to find out how to get out of power saving mode.1. More INFORMATION would be helpful. See here

Please also include the make and model number of the monitor. Onboard video (integrated) or SEPARATE video card?

2. As you startup your system, when does the monitor start saying "Power Save Mode"? If you PRESS any keyboard keys or move the mouse, does it display correctly; even if only for a moment?

During the startup process, is any information displayed correctly on the monitor? When and what?

3. Have you tried booting to Safe Mode?

4. Does your new monitor work well on another system? Does a different monitor work well on your system?

My System is : Windows XP Home Edition SP2

also, have you enabled video acceleration?

you can also try going to nvidia control panel, and under "adjust image SETTINGS with preview", drag the bar to "performance".

one other thing, when running your games, you may try disabling anti-aliasing. sometimes enabling that FEATURE can reduce game speed. What is your other card?
The 7300GT is a low end card and won't play modern games well, at a wild guess I would SAY you've downgraded.

Solve : nothing comes on monitor?

I built this computer about a year ago. I had it working for about 2 weeks before I decided to be real stupid and plug it into the wrong power voltage (i was in korea) and it made a pop sound and basically blew up. I was hoping it was just the psu that had went out so I replaced that and when I powered it up, EVERYTHING seemed to go fine except nothing was coming up on the monitor. HDD is good because I gotta hold down the power button to turn it off like Windows was POPPING up or something. So I figured it must be the graphics card, so I replaced that and still nothing on the monitor. And then I decided to go big and replace the mobo, and guess what...still nothing. I'm kinda getting real sick of basically buying a completely new computer so if anyone could help me out, that's be real cool. Here are specs:

i'm pretty sure it wasn't the monitor that popped. my face was right next to the psu (i was trying to figure out where the burning smell was coming from) when it popped...i thought i died...just sat there frozen for a good minute.Whatever might be the case, we still need to confirm it is not the monitor. yea...i guess i could still try that out. the monitor has been through 2 gov't transports so that might be it. when i turn the computer on, the monitor auto-detects between vga and dvi...and after going dvi (which is correct) it goes blank and then the little LIGHT in the on/off button starts flashing (power save...i don't know it's called when it does that...i think it's power save)Hmmm... what you are making does make sense. Anyways, try replacing the monitor and see if the problem still persists or not. Good Luck.

Solve : Computer boots up, then shuts down?

Answer»

I installed the NIC card when the device mgr. did not recognize the network adapter. When I did, the system would shut down immediately.

We are getting ready for severe storms, so I will be logging off and using that time to strip down the system as you suggested. Will keep you updated once the storms have passed........Okay.

Examine the built-in ethernet PORT; loose, shorted, pins bent, etc. Replace the NIC card with a new one. Sounds like you got a bad one.I've had the same problem. I replaced every component in the system, even the case. Still shuts down shortly after boot up. I initially suspected the motherboard, but my brand new one had the same issues. I've got new RAM, Vid card, HD, ect.. everything except the sound card. I could build a new system, if I could keep "them" running long enough. Oh yeah, I also put a new processor in the system...still the same shutdown shortly after boot up. I'm still CLUELESS. Going back to the basic system and reminding myself not to throw computer parts at the wall when i get mad OK, many deep breaths later... I realized my processor heatsink wasn't properly seated. Hard to believe, but these things are running so hot (not overclocked) that one improperly set heatsink pin was enough to allow the processor to overheat Well, its all good now, the system runs like a champ, and I've got enough new parts to make myself a new system. My wife thinks its a CONSPIRACY, but I swear I was just TRYING to fix the comp , I also added new thermal compound to the processor and CLEANED all the boards and fans. Good luck all!Congrats! But, I'm curious - you cleaned the CPU and re-applied thermal paste AFTER you had a problem, then, more new parts later, determined that it was a bad CPU install; hmmm, I'm not so sure that your wife isn't right!

Best of luck!

I just upgraded, I think, from 756mb ram to 2gig. I have a problem though. When I started and sat at the desktop for about a minute or tried to do anything the computer would reboot and or crash whatever I was running. Each piece of ram works without error by themselves but when I put all 3 in, in any order on the mobo, it would crash.
The two Corsair are 512mb PC3200 400MHz and the single OCZ is 1024mb PC3200 400MHz Dual Channel. I don't really know what dual channel does but I'm assuming that's the problem since besides that they're identical.
I went in to my BIOS and set the SDRAM Timing Frequency, I think that's what it's called, to 200MHz. Anything higher and it would crash. I don't know if I'm doing this right or not. I'm not so good with hardware issues. 2gig at 200MHz seems slower than my 768mb at 333MHz(i think).

Can anyone help me get it going at 400MHz? Thanks.Your BOARD accepts DDR 200/266/333 DDR up to 3 gigQuote from: ubermonkey on July 21, 2008, 11:15:31 AM

Dual channel has nothing to do with it. The RAM is not compatible EDIT: with each other. This is very common when mixing memory modules. The same specs do not guarantee compatibility.

Suggest that: you return the newly purchased RAM, and, if you want 2 GB, PURCHASE 'matched RAM' for dual channel - this will be 4 x 512 MB modules, or 2 x 1 GB modules, check your MB MANUAL. If you want 1 GB, use the 2 x Corsair or the OCZ, whichever you didn't return - just be sure that you install the RAM into the correct slots per the MB manual.

Best of luck!

EDIT: The MB spec that I looked at suggested that the board will only run PC3200 (400) SPEEDS for MSI CERTIFIED memory. May be an issue for you trying to run at 400 mhz. However, the difference between running at 366 v 400 is insignificant.

Those are amazing choices, but I will probably go with DDR3 RAM and the like. Is the i7 processor better than the Phenom II x4?
Yes.

Quote
I noticed the motherboard I chose utilizes dual channel memory-yet DDR3 comes in packs of three. Do I have to buy a fourth stick to even it out? Or should I buy two packs of two?
The Phenom boards use dual channel, whereas i7 uses triple channel so that kit is really designed for i7.
Three sticks is perfectly fine, but two or four will run in dual channel. You most likely won't see a DIFFERENCE between single channel and dual channel though.

Quote from: aniketkar94 on May 20, 2009, 03:10:36 PM
The computer is going over budget a little-any ways to trim it down? Promo codes? Alternative parts?
Unfortunately I'm not with it on AMD parts, so I'm not sure what to CHOOSE on that side. Someone else might be able to help.

Quote
EDIT: Also, should I go with the black edition processor for overclocking? Is it worth it?
If you're planning on overclocking, yes, the NORMAL AMD processors won't overclock well at all. You'd also need a much better heatsink and fan because the Phenom CPUs run hot.

Quote
EDIT: Just noticed: If I go with DDR2 memory, I will save about 80 dollars. Should I do it? I mean, should I go with 8 GB DDR2 or 6 GB DDR3?
Up to you.
You most likely won't see a difference between DDR2 and DDR3 speed-wise, you may or may not use the extra 2Gb of RAM.
Remember that you'll need a 64 bit OS to use more than 4GB, and if you fill all your RAM slots overclocking will be limited.

Two main advantages right there. Also you know how you've done everything (hopefully you've done it right ), so you don't have to double check anyone else's work ... indivudla warranties which are usually much longer than a system manufacturer's warranty ... better quality parts as computeruler says.

Just right click the one needed and say properties then it say reinstall driver.yes sir , thts what i did and it installed the realtek driver and sound works for itunes but not firefox or IE, youtube, myspace, AOL ... no sound for videos??? but there is also no sound for my pc itself??? like games and what not dont have sound?hmmmmm Let's make it clear. Solve : Hard Drives keep getting bad sectors?

Answer»

so if Power Cycle Count of the hard drive is not as it should LOWER than normal one it can cause the fail of the hard drive like bsd disk read errors and finishing with the total hard drive anihilation?Quote

Power Cycle Count
How did we get into this?
We are talking about three Hard Drives that have GONE bad in one PC.
Normally, a GOOD hard drive will outlive the PC.Well as far as I read i saw that some people here POST thinks about PSU so i thoguht i can ask my question here .Coz my hard drive has the power cycle below normal count and it gave me disk read errors BSD and i THINK he is dying . OK. You may have another problem, unlike the one here.
You should start you own post and provide information specific to your problem.

I would respectfully disagree. Not a ton of money.
But with the way the economy is going

Anyway, here is a list of tools that are mostly good.

Can't decide? Go for Recuva

No, not my choice. Everybody else prefers Recuva over anything else by a 2 to 1 margin. So, I can't be right all the time.

Solve : Pc wont boot?

Answer»

I have an ASUS Crosshair motherboard with an Amd Athalon 64 X2 4000+ CPU. When i press the power BUTTON all the fans spool up stay on for about five sec then SHUT off. I have a LCD display on the back of my motherboard it stops on "CPU INIT". I took the CPU out and put in my girlfriends computer and it works in hers. I don't know what it could be now please help?Change out the power supply as a test, make sure its the same wattage or greater.Well the one i have in there is a 750w and the only other one i have is a 400w but i pluged in just the motherboard and the hard drive in and turned it on. It stayed on so i guess thats what the problem is.i just shut it off and try turning it on again and i did what it was doing earlier.
Wait...you took the CPU out and put it in your Girlfriends machine ? ?

Did you build this machine yourself ? ?
If so are all MBoard standoffs in place ?
4pin ATX power plugged in to the board ? ?
Was Thermal Compound applied properly ? ?

Thermal Paste GuideI have actually built both COMPUTERS. Yes all motherboard stand offs are in place. My mother board actually uses a 8 pin secondary power instead of the 4 pin. Yes the thermal compound was applied properly. What happen was one night i was playing games on it. Then i just shut it down like normal and went to bed. The next morning when i went to turn it on is when it started this whole thing about turning of like 5 sec and then turning off.Swap another PSU ( borrowed preferably ) of the same wattage or greater in there to see if this is the issue...
What brand is your PSU ? ?
XclioI'm not familiar with that brand name.my computer wont boot up at all i opened it reseated all the connections and i get nothing...

any suggestions?Maybe if you start a new topic....computerwiz, Do you see any burst or leaking capacitors on the motherboard?

Try booting up with just one stick of RAM and no drives or expansion cards plugged in.

Also this is a long shot, but it could be SOMETHING simple. Try plugging it into a different outlet. Try a different power cord. I checked for bad capacitors but i didnt see any. So i took the whole computer apart and put it back together piece by piece. Booting it up after every piece and this time every time i did it booted up just fine. It working fine now so idk what in the was wrong with it. I feel so stupid.Looks like re-seating everything did the trick! Sometimes the magic of computers will fix it once you do that!

Or mabe you just missed a plug somewhere the first time around Good Work...sometimes just sticking to it long enough gets the job done...
Stop by anytime.

Solve : monitor dims when screen is dark?

Answer»

I have a Hanns G 28 INCH monitor. When I play a game or RUN a program that has a dark background or dark atmosphere the monitor dims down right away on it's own. I have a dual monior set up with a 22 on the other SIDE but it doesn't have that problem on the 22 but I game and watch movies on the 28. Running a 260 GTX GPU and a ecs 6100sm-m 1.0 mobo running xp 64 and 4gb ram.You may get more answers to your problem if you can express the idea in other words. The monitor may be running normally. Do you meant the light level goes down, or does the contrast go down?
The monitor that does not show this behavior may be the on that is not working right. Good quality monitors are supposed to lower the light leve on a dark scene. Parts of the dark scene should be absolutely black. That is a feature, not a defect.didn't quite understand but if this sounds better... If I am playing Fallout 3 and I talk to someone in the dark the monitor readjusts itself and makes it even darker when the picture is dark. If I turn on a light the screen readjusts itself to the normal lightness. If it is a feature it is very sensitive and if a feature I need to know how to turn it off or adjust it...please Does it happen only with this one game?

no. it happens on any game or program that is very dark. Just dims even more. for instance, I have this .txt program that the background is black and the text is white. If I am full screened with that the monitor dims. as soon as I shut down that program it instantly BRIGHTENS up.

Solve : how to edit movie with Nero 8?

Answer»

I paid $50 for this software several months ago and haven't been able to FIGURE out how to cut segments out of my video file yet. Every time I try to cut a segment it says "the cut region you selected is too large. The remaining segments would beccome invalid".
Why do it keep getting this stupid message. I'm about on my last NERVE here.
I click on the RED cut button at the start point of the segment I want to cut. At this point the cut button turns gold. I set the slider to the end of the segment I want cut and click the gold cut button and get this error message. No matter how big or small a segment I try to cut I get this message. What the heck am I doing wrong?

You may be trying to cut the wrong part of the video and don't realize it. It can be a little confusing as to what you are looking at. I have gotten used to just SLICING the video where I want it divided and then deleting the part I don't want. You might try it that way. Otherwise, go over the procedures you are using to cut the video and make sure the correct part is being selected.

The wrong part would be the part you want to keep.

...

The way the cut scene tool works, I get a little confused and sometimes the segment shows up in funny places. Use whichever method you prefer, I just like to keep it simple.

That's all I could find on this error. It seems very rare...

There is also a second POST HERE you can CHECK out. See if that helps.

Solve : Computer starting to lag ALOT!!?

Answer»

I recently but windows 7 on my computer, its was working great for about 2 months. Yesterday my computer started to lag alot so i checked if it was windows 7, i reset the computer but i still had the lag so i checked if anything was overheating, and it said fan 1 was overheating - im guessing thats the one for the processor since its the only one with the rpm - i opened up my computer pushed the fan in a little bit and it stopped overheating (i think my computer internal temperature was to hot), now when i try to use my computer it lags alot and according to the cpu guage its not overworking, is there anyway to check if my cpu was damaged?Sounds to me like you should re-do your thermal paste and heat sink. If you do noy know how to do this you can do a search on (thermal paste and heat sink) QUOTE from: shrshr429 on May 17, 2009, 09:08:35 AM

it said fan 1 was overheating

How hot did it indicate?it had the FLAME, if i could guess around 55-60 degreesIt had the flame in what program ? ?
You need to be more specific because we can't see your machine from here...

Also what machine is this that Win7 was installed on ? ?
We THRIVE on details here.I stated speedfan before, thats what the flame was shown.

Asus Striker 680i
2tb western digital sata
4gb kingston ddr2
intel E6850
ati radeon graphics card x--
1 sony cd drive
1 sony dvd drive
1 logitech dvd burner (not hooked up)
600w power supplyThere was no REFERENCE to SpeedFan...
However the specs are more than enough for Win7...
When you say you pushed in a fan what exactly did you do ? ?
Have you checked the BIOS temps and compare them to SpeedFan ? ?The computer isnt lagging because of software issues that why i didnt bother posted any specs on my computer its a hardware issue with the cpu and/or fan. I just pushed the fan in to make sure if tightly in place, which im guessing fixed the other heating problem. I'm not near my computer currently to check if the bios temperature matches up but it most likely will. I will check the thermal paste when i get home and see if theres any problems there, i will most likely have to replace it.OK.I just checked the bios temps and they're exactly the same. Any other ideas besides the thermal paste. What temps ? ?
Post both load and no load readings.Speedfan temps

[attachment deleted by admin]I checked the temperatures on bios, it said the CPU is 47 C and the MIB TEMP 34 C, i checked the thermal paste on the cpu, there is barely any on, is that the problem?Thermal Paste Guide.
